James woke up to the empty bed. eyes still closed, He touched around the nightstand to find his glasses (He ought to get checked again, he felt like his current prescription was off ever so slightly) and, putting them in his nose, sat up and made his way towards the door.
Lily was standing in the bathroom, only in a pair of underwear. (The underwear that had been discarded on the floor of James’ apartment mere hours before, he thought with a grin.) She mussed her hair, and reached out to do the clasp of her bra.
“You’re out early,” He said, rubbing a hand over his 5 o’clock shadow.
“I have work,” She smiled, apologetically, as she threw her hair up and put it into a messy ponytail. “Can you help me with my bra, please? My nails won’t allow me to do it.”
He stepped behind her, thumbing at the clasp. After he heard it slip, his touch lingered on her back, letting it fall to her bared hip, leaving a trail of goosebumps in his fingers’ wake.
Then Lily’s back was pressed against the sink and their mouths were pressed together. James’ fingers tangled into her hair, sliding his tongue inside Lily’s mouth, which earned him a moan from her. His hand rested on her hip, rubbing circles into her skin, and her fingers were wrapped around his bicep.
He didn’t exactly know how they ended up back in his bedroom, his palm cupping her jaw, their bodies moving together.
And just like that, it was over; she pressed a light kiss to his cheek, picking up her black, sleeveless top and jeans off the floor. “I had fun. We should do this again sometime.”
James hummed in approval, putting his arm under his head as he lied in bed again. “We should. Whenever you want.”
Lily pulled on her top. “I’m not free Thursday, I have a team building event, and I’m not free Friday, I’m going out with my friends, so… Saturday?” She asked coyly, fastening her belt.
“Sounds good. I had practice on Friday either way. Let me drive you?” He asked, sitting up and peeling his own pair of jeans off the floor.
“I’ll Uber,” She answered, already making her way towards the door.
“It’s the least I could do.”
“After paying for dinner and…” She glanced around, biting her lip, “well.” She ended, grinning slyly.
“Come on,” He said, wrapping an arm around her waist. “It’ll take much less than waiting for a car.”

Prise giving ceremony
Summary:Jude and the reader are invited for their children's prize giving Ceremony
Tumblr media
"Jude c'mon we're gonna be late" I say
"Yeah, I'm coming" he says, he takes my hand and we make it out the front door
"I've already spoken to mum she says they'll meet us there, cause they need to get a few things before the Ceremony starts" He says
"Are your parents going to be there?"
"I don't know honestly, but it would be really Nice if they showed up, it would mean so much to the kids if they did"
"Hey don't worry, even if they don't show up, I'm sure it will still be fun"
"Yeah"
" how many awards do you think the kids will get?"
"I don't know, besides, I don't care I'll be proud of them either way"
"Yeah, me too, But you know how they are, they always want to be top achievers in everything they do"
"I think they get that from the both of us to be honest"
"I don't always strive to be a top achiever"
"Yes you do Jude"
"How?"
"What about that time after one of your matches and you didn't play the way you wanted to, were you not having a fit?"
"I did not"
"Babe you did"
"Well you're also like that"
"Oh I already know I strive to be a top achiever, I'm not going to deny who i am"
"Whatever" he says rolling his eyes
"But I'm sure the genes didn't spread to our kids, right?"
"Yeah, no that is a lie, our children are so competitive it worries me sometimes"
"You're overreacting"
"Oh, am I?"
"Yeah you are"
"Remember that time when Julian, lost his football game and he got so upset he wouldn't even eat his dinner?, or what about the time Julia didn't get first prize for her 1200m run, and she nearly fought the girl who did, need I go on?"
"Alright you've made your point"
"Thank you"
We arrive at the school and Jude parks the car, he walks out of the car and comes around my side to open my door
"Thank you"
"It's a pleasure babe"
"You actually look beautiful in that outfit you know"
"Really, you like it?"
"I love it"
Jude has a black turtleneck on, with a suit Jacket, black slacks and dress shoes and a silver Rolex watch, while I have on a black dress that reaches just past my knees, with a criss cross back and a slight low V cut in the front, matched with a pair of black heels a gold necklace, gold earrings and my wedding ring
As we enter the venue we see people taking pictures, no dought that these pictures will be on the internet by the time the ceremony is over
When we enter the venue we find Denise,Mark and Jobe sat in the second row behind all the teachers and principals, we make our way to where they are sitting and greet them
"Mom we're here" Jude says
They turn their heads towards us and stand up
"Hi Darling, you alright" Denise says greeting me and coming in for a hug
"Yeah mom, I'm alright"
"Aren't you proud"
"Very proud"
Mark taps my shoulder getting my attention
"Hey" he says coming in for a hug
"Hi dad, how've you been?"
"I'm alright"
I greet Jobe and give him a brotherly hug while he daps Jude up
We all take our seats with me sandwiched in between Jude and Denise and Mark sitting next to Denise and Jobe
The MC starts the program and the school choir sings the school song, after that the MC starts her opening speech
"Good evening everyone, we're so grateful for your presence here tonight, thank you for coming to celebrate the children who have undoubtably worked hard to achieve these achievements, without further ado let's get started, I would like to call on Mrs. Clinton to come and present the awards"
Mrs. Clinton walks onto the stage and greets everyone
"Good evening everyone, I am here in front of you all to present the special awards to the children, the first award is awarded to the most creative student, Jessica James"
Everyone claps for Jessica as she walks onto the stage to get her award
"Why does she walk like that" Jude asks
"Don't Judge other people's kids Jude"
"Next, this award is for the most kindest and caring student who always puts other's needs before their own, this award is awarded to Ronald Johnson"
People clap for Ronald and  he collects his award
"Those are some big glasses he's got on" he says as he fists his hands making a hole in between each hand and putting each fisted hand on each eye
"Jude, stop" I say tying to hold my laugh in
"Next this award is for the most improved student, who has improved either academically or Socially, having had a hard start when they first arrived in the school and to adapting the school's culture, this award is given to Melissa Hall"
Melissa collects her award and we all clap for her
"Now lastly this award is a prestigious one and is a shared by two students, this award is for the most ambitious and Hardworking students, Julia and Julian Bellingham"
Both Julia and Julian walk onto stage to get their shared award, I turn to my right to see Mark filming Every moment
Jude and I stand up so both of them can see us, they see us and wave and we return the gesture by smiling and waving
Next they announce that they'll be announcing the prizes for the year 1s ( first graders)
Which is Julian and Julia's year (grade)
"We will first start with the year 1s and their achievements" the MC Says
"I would like to call Mrs. Madden to the stage to present the Awards"
Mrs. Madden walks onto the stage, greets the audience, and continues Jude gives me a side eye as if to say "look at her outfit" Mrs. Madden has on an old looking cardigan and a pair of baggy trousers, bright red glasses and Pebbles/stones for Jewelry "Good evening, everyone. It's my pleasure to present the awards for the Year 1 students. These young minds have shown remarkable dedication and enthusiasm throughout the year. First, we'll start with the award for Excellence in Mathematics, which goes to... Julian Bellingham!"
The audience erupts in applause as Julian confidently strides to the stage to accept his award. His smile is radiant, and his eyes gleam with pride.
"That's my boy," Jude whispers to me, his face beaming with pride. I squeeze his hand, sharing in the moment of joy.
Julian accepts his award, posing for a quick photo before returning to his seat.
"Next, the award for Outstanding Performance in English goes to... Julia Bellingham!"
Julia, not to be outdone by her brother, walks gracefully to the stage, her expression one of quiet confidence. The applause is even louder this time, with our family cheering her on.
"I'm so proud of them," I say to Jude, my eyes welling up with tears of happiness.
"I know, me too," Jude replies, his voice full of emotion.
Julia accepts her award and waves at us again before taking her seat beside Julian.
Mrs. Madden continues, "The next award is for Excellence in Sports. This student has shown exceptional talent and dedication in various sports activities. The award goes to... Julian Bellingham!"
Julian gets up again, looking slightly embarrassed but very pleased as he accepts his second award. The applause is thunderous.
"He's going to need a bigger shelf for all these awards," Jude jokes, making me laugh.
"And finally," Mrs. Madden announces, "the award for Leadership and Teamwork goes to a student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and the ability to work well with others. This award goes to... Julia Bellingham!"
Julia stands up for the second time, her face glowing with pride. She walks to the stage, collects her award, and waves once more, her smile brighter than ever.
As the ceremony concludes, the children are invited to take pictures with their families. Jude and I rush to the front to congratulate our kids, enveloping them in big, proud hugs.
"You both did amazing!" I say, kissing each of their foreheads.
"We're so proud of you," Jude adds, ruffling Julian's hair and hugging Julia tightly.
"Thanks, Mom and Dad!" they both say, their faces glowing with happiness.
Denise, Mark, and Jobe join us, offering their congratulations. Denise takes out her phone and suggests, "Let's get a family picture to remember this moment."
We gather together, with Julian and Julia holding their awards proudly. As the camera clicks, I can't help but think about how lucky we are to have such amazing children and a loving, supportive family.
"Alright, let's go celebrate!" Jude announces, lifting Julian onto his shoulders. And me taking Julia into my arms, planting a kiss onto her cheek then her forehead
"Yeah, ice cream for everyone!, Say goodbye to your grandparents and Uncle Jobe" I add, placing Julia back down then holding her hand
"Bye nana" Julia Says as she hugs her grandmother
"Goodbye my Darling, I'm so proud of you, and you as well Julian" Denise says as she hugs the both of them
We continue saying our goodbyes and walk them to their car and we start making way to our car as well
as we make our way out of the venue, hearts full and spirits high.
The evening is a perfect blend of pride, love, and celebration, and as we head to our favorite ice cream parlor, I know that this is a day we will cherish forever.
As we walk to the car, Jude spots another kid and nudges me. "Look at that kid's bowtie. It's bigger than his head."
I laugh, nudging him back. "Jude, be nice!"
"And that one," he whispers, nodding towards a girl with a massive hair bow. "Is she trying to take flight with that thing?"
"Stop it!" I giggle, trying to hold back my laughter.
"Alright, alright," he says, chuckling. "But you have to admit, this is entertaining."
"You're terrible," I say, still laughing. "But I love you anyway."
"I love you too," he replies, pulling me close and kissing my forehead. "Now, let's go get some ice cream."
We pile into the car, the kids chattering excitedly about their awards in the backseat. Jude starts the engine and we head to our favorite ice cream parlor, the mood in the car light and joyful.
As we arrive and park, Jude turns to me with a playful smile. "You know, I was just thinking..."
"Uh-oh, should I be worried?" I tease, raising an eyebrow.
"Maybe," he laughs. "But seriously, what if Julian and Julia go into comedy? They seem to have a knack for entertaining, just like their old man."
"Oh, really? So now you're a comedian?" I say, laughing.
"Well, I did make you laugh, didn't I?" he retorts, winking.
We all get out of the car and head into the parlor, the kids rushing ahead to choose their favorite flavors. Jude and I follow more slowly, holding hands and enjoying the moment.
As we enter the ice cream parlor, the sweet aroma of freshly baked waffles and scoops of ice cream fills the air. Julian and Julia rush towards the display of flavors, their eyes wide with anticipation.
"Mom, Dad, look at all the choices!" Julia exclaims, pointing excitedly.
"Yeah, Dad, they even have that weird green one you like," Julian adds with a grin.
Jude chuckles. "Hey, mint chocolate chip is a classic! Don't knock it till you've tried it."
I roll my eyes playfully. "You and your adventurous taste buds."
"Just trying to keep things interesting," he replies with a wink.
We join the kids at the counter, scanning the menu for our own favorites. Julian opts for a towering sundae while Julia goes for a colorful cone with sprinkles.
"I think I'll go for something simple today," I say, eyeing a scoop of strawberry cheesecake.
Jude nudges me. "Oh, come on, live a little! How about a triple scoop with all the works?"
I laugh. "I'll leave that to you, Mr. Mint Chocolate Chip."
As we wait for our treats, Jude leans closer to me, his voice low. "Did you see that kid's hair over there? It looks like a bird's nest."
I stifle a laugh. "Jude! Be nice."
"I'm just observing," he insists, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "You know I can't resist a good hairstyle critique."
"Well, keep your critiques to yourself," I tease, trying not to giggle too loudly.
Our ice cream arrives, and we settle into a cozy booth. Julian and Julia dive into their treats with gusto, their faces quickly turning into a sticky mess of smiles and satisfaction.
Jude leans back, savoring his mint chocolate chip. "You know, I have to hand it to them. These kids really know how to enjoy life's simple pleasures."
"Like ice cream," I add, licking a stray drip from my cone.
"Exactly," he says, nodding. "I mean, who needs fancy dinners when you've got a scoop of your favorite flavor?"
"Or a tower of sundaes," I reply, gesturing towards Julian's creation.
We watch our kids laugh and talk between messy bites, their joy infectious. It's moments like these that remind me why I fell in love with Jude—the way he finds humor in everyday moments and brings out the best in our family.
As we finish our ice cream, Jude leans over and whispers, "That kid over there looks like he's trying to break the world record for fastest ice cream eater." He says eyeing the poor child that just seems to be really enjoying his ice cream
I burst out laughing, unable to contain myself. "Jude, stop, what's wrong with you today and making fun of kids!" I manage to say between giggles.
He grins mischievously. "What? I'm just stating the obvious, and it's not like I'm saying it to their faces, how will they know I'm talking about them ?"
"You're terrible," I say, shaking my head, still laughing.
He chuckles softly. "But you love me anyway, right?"
"Of course," I reply, reaching across the table to squeeze his hand. "Even when you're making fun of kids' hairstyles."
He squeezes my hand back, his eyes warm with affection. "I love you too, always."
We sit together in comfortable silence, watching our children and soaking in the happiness of this simple, perfect moment. As we prepare to leave, Jude leans over once more.
"Ready to head home, or should we challenge the kids to a rematch in mini golf?"
I laugh, shaking my head. "Let's save that for another day. Right now, I think we've had enough excitement for one evening."
"Fair enough," he says, rising from the booth. "But don't think I won't take you up on that challenge someday."
I smile, knowing that whatever adventures lie ahead, we'll face them together—as partners, parents, and best friends.
"I love that idea," I say, kissing him on the cheek. "It's perfect."
As we sit there, enjoying our ice cream and each other's company, I realize that moments like these are what life is all about—love, laughter, and the simple joy of being together.
Jude takes a spoon of his ice cream  and leans back, content. "This is the life," he says, smiling at me and the kids. "I wouldn't trade it for anything."
"Me neither," I reply, squeezing his hand. "Me neither."
The evening winds down with more laughter, stories, and plans for the future. As we drive home, the kids eventually fall asleep in the backseat, clutching their awards.
Jude looks over at me and smiles. "We did good, didn't we?"
"We did great," I reply, feeling a warm glow of happiness. "Our little achievers."
We pull into the driveway, and Jude gently carries Julian inside while I take Julia. We tuck them into bed, kissing their foreheads and whispering words of love and pride.
Back in our bedroom, Jude wraps his arms around me and pulls me close. "Thank you for being my partner in this crazy, wonderful life," he says softly.
"Thank you for being mine," I reply, resting my head on his chest.
As we drift off to sleep, I can't help but feel incredibly grateful for this beautiful family we've built together—a family filled with love, humor, and endless possibilities.

Hi lovely, i hope youre having a good day.
Could i request a poly!maruaders (maybe +lily or bff lily) where reader is either muggleborn or a half-blood and does every day tasks normally (ie. redecorating, dying hair, climbimg to get something up high, looking for something theyve lost, painstakingly repairing something, trying to navigate in the dark). Maybe reader has convinced lily and Remus to help her spring clean and redecorate and they both just automatically go about it a muggle way. And when Sirius and James come to find them later theyre so confused because for them thats always been done with magic.
I have sent a very similar request to someome else before (think its been 2+ months) but i dont think they posted for it. Just in case they do i wanted to let you know. Also no pressure.
Regardless, i love you 🩶
Hi angel! I decided to do this with platonic (or, if you like, pre-relationship) marauders+Lily, and I know you said spring cleaning but my roomie and I just decorated for Halloween and I’ve got that on the brain so I’ve taken more than one liberty haha but I hope you like it <33 Love you too!!
platonic!marauders (+Lily) x reader ♡ 1.1k words
“Do you think this would look alright here?” you ask, stretching your arm as high as you can to pin the middle of the leafy garland to the wall.
Lily hums contemplatively. “I don’t think that’s quite the middle. A bit to the left?”
You reach leftwards, tottering on your stepping stool, and Remus steadies you with his hands at your waist before you can fall.
“Here, I’ve got it,” he offers, encouraging you to step down and taking your place. He makes the reach look easy (it’s hardly a reach for him, you suppose), taping the garland in place. “How’s that?” he asks, and you step back beside Lily, assessing.
“It looks great,” you decide. “Thanks!”
“‘Course, love.” He grins at you as he steps down, going back to dusting off your mantle. You’re immensely grateful for your friends’ help, the quiet between you companionable as you each work on your tasks, your Rumours record playing softly in the corner. You’d been a bit down about cleaning and decorating your first apartment all by yourself, and Lily had all but invited herself over, offering to keep you company. This morning, she’d shown up with Remus and a bucket full of cleaning supplies, and neither of them would hear your protests about not wanting them to labor for you. Remus had become immediately obsessed with all the dusty surfaces you’ve yet to clean since moving in a week ago, and Lily claims she’s going to make cookies after she’s finished cleaning the oven, so your apartment will smell cozy and homey.
You’re not sure how you managed to snag such fantastic friends, but just as you’re about to tell them so for the upteenth time since they’ve arrived, your door creaks open.
“You can’t just leave the front door unlocked,” James says, aghast. “You’re a young girl living on your own, shortcake. Exercise some caution.”
Sirius breezes by James with a small box in his hands, and you accept the one-armed hug he offers you with faint confusion. Your friends are welcome anytime, but you hadn’t been expecting anyone other than Lily today and you worry the apartment is far from guest-ready. “I usually lock it,” you defend yourself. “It’s just that we’ve been in and out all morning. Anyway, who’s going to murder me with everyone here?”
“Well, they won’t now that I’m here,” James allows, pecking you on the cheek amicably. “But if you were thinking Lily and Moony could defend you all by themselves, then I’m even more worried about you.” He receives matching exasperated glares from your friends, but ignores them, surveying the apartment. “This is a nice place you’ve got here.”
“Thanks.” You beam, proud of your little apartment. It had been a bit run-down when you’d first moved in, but the morning’s efforts have really brightened the space. “Did you come by to see it? I’m not sure it’s quite ready for a tour yet, unless you’re alright with dust.”
“A lot,” Remus says wearily, “of dust.”
“We thought we’d bring you a housewarming gift,” Sirius says, opening the lid of the box to reveal a cake. In cursive frosting, it reads Congratulations, graduate!, but someone’s struck through graduate and scrawled, in messy writing underneath, homeowner.
You laugh. “Thanks, that’s so sweet! Um, you guys know I’m renting this place, right?”
“We know,” Sirius agrees. “But apparently they only do custom writing if you order, like, way in advance, and we didn’t have enough room to put congratulations on your first big girl apartment ourselves.”
Remus snorts, but immediately begins sneezing after inhaling some dust from the mantle, and Lily comes over to admire the cake. “I think it’s lovely as it is,” she says, and you hastily agree. You love it, and you love them all the more for it, your sweetheart friends. “Still, Remus and I have been here all morning, so I think our housewarming gift is a bit better.”
James laughs disbelievingly. “What’s your gift?”
“Cleaning and decorating,” Remus says, having recovered from his fit. “Bit more of a time commitment than a cake.” His voice takes on a slight haughtiness, and Lily smirks.
“What, all day?” Sirius shakes his head. “That takes ten seconds.”
“Not the muggle way,” Lily says.
Sirius’ eyebrows shoot up, and James’ gaze sweeps over the room more intentionally, lingering on the unswept floor, the decorations still in their boxes. “Why in Merlin’s name would you do it the muggle way?” he sounds vaguely horrified. “We could charm this done right now.”
Sirius nods, sliding his wand from his sleeve as if he intends to do just that, but you clamp a hand around his wrist. “That takes all the fun out of it!”
“Dollface,” Sirius says slowly, looking at you like you’ve lost it, “how is laboring all morning to accomplish what could be done with a simple spell fun?”
You wave your hands about, gesturing vaguely to the room at large. “I don’t know, it’s about the simple things. You listen to music, and do things the slow way, and you get to choose where your stuff goes instead of letting the spell choose for you.”
“And,” Lily adds, “it’s satisfying to know that you did it yourself. Like these cookies, which are going to be way better than if I charmed them to bake themselves.” She pauses, glancing at the cake. “By the way, you’re going to have a ton of sweets on your hands, Y/N.”
“Oh, I was under no impression I’d be eating all this by myself,” you say, somewhat appalled. “Won’t you guys stay and help me with them? I can get us takeaway.”
Sirius and James help with more than that. Neither of them will touch a broom (frankly, they have trouble wrapping their heads around the idea that some are used for more than flying), but they help you arrange your fake pumpkins on the newly dusted mantle, and bicker over whether they should charm your candles to float like in the great hall or leave them on the coffee table.
By the time you make good on your offer of ordering takeaway, almost every crevice of your apartment has been cleaned, and it’s smelling like cookies and looking seasonally festive. Remus nips to the store to get a couple bottles of wine for you all, and you and James end up sitting on the floor to eat while Lily declares she’s taking you shopping for more chairs tomorrow. The cake is fantastic, but the company is better, and of all the things you’d wanted to decorate your first apartment with, you think you like filling it with your friends best.

Imagine: Having a crush on James Potter, but thinking he doesn't love you back, but he does
Anonymous request:Hello! 🧡 first I want to tell you I really love your christmas theme!!! It is amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Can I request something with james potter, please? The main idea: reader has a huge crush on james, but she thinks she doesn't have a chance with him (because she is very shy and not popular as him). Then at the end of a quidditch match james is so happy and excited for his victory team, so he approaches reader to ask her out on a date. (You can decide what happens next)Thank you sweet writer! 🧡P.s Happy holidays too! Enjoy them! <333
You had a crush on James Potter you were shy telling him that because you knew he wouldn't like you back since he's popular, but little did you know that James is in love with you
"What is your hurried prongs"? Remus asks, looking at James getting ready quickly.
"So he can go talk to his girlfriend." Sirius tease
"You have a girlfriend?" Peter asked
"Well, she's not my girlfriend yet. " James smiles
"Who are we talking about?" Remus asked
"Y/n." James blushes
"Y/N's really shy and she's really beautiful, but I heard Snivellus has a crush on her." Sirius says
"Snivellus can't like her, I liked her first." James says in jealousy
"Well, if I were you I would ask her out before Snivellus does. " Sirius laughed but stopped when James left angrily
"Hey!! Watch where your go-. " James cut himself when he noticed that he had bumped into you "I'm sorry. " You said, trying not to blush in front of James
"Love don't be it's my fault I wasn't watching where I was going." James tries so hard to not blush, but he couldn't help it since he was in front of his crush
You blush "I need to tell you something."
"Well, I also need to tell you something."
"You can go first."
"Y/N i"-.
"Y/N." Severus stopped smiling when he saw James with you
"Stupid Snivellus." James angrily whispers
"Y/n is he bothering you?" Severus glares at James
"He's not, we're just talking." You smiled
"About?" Severus asked, curious
James angrily crossed his arm "none of your business."
You grabbed Severus' arm so he wouldn't pick a fight with James "Let's go Severus and James you can tell me later on what you wanted to tell me."
James storms off as his jealousy was going through his body
"James, are you ok?" Sirius asked worry as he noticed James was crying
James let his tears fall down to his cheeks "I was going to tell her that I like her, but Snivellus had it to ruin everything."
Sirius gives James a hug "don't give up on her fight for her don't let Snivellus take your girl away from You"
"I won't and that's a promise."
"Why don't you invite her to your Quidditch match and once it's over you run to her and ask her on a date and also ask her to be your girlfriend so Snivellus won't ever try to steal your girl ever again."
James smiles, "Thank you for your help Padfoot."
"Prongs that's what best friends are for." Sirius smiles as he sees James leaving happily
Lily and you were watching James play Quidditch matching since he invited you, but you decided to bring Lily with you instead of Severus
"Why don't you tell him already?"
"Lily, he doesn't feel the same, he's going to end up rejecting me." You smiled sadly
"How do you know that?" Lily asked
"Because he's popular and I'm not."
Lily rolled her eyes, "he doesn't care if you're popular or not and I bet he feels the same way."
You shake your head "I know he doesn't so stop trying to get my hopes up."
"Y/N I wish you knew that James actually does have feelings for you." Lily whispers
You look over at Lily, "did you say something?"
"No."
Everyone, including Lily and you clapped as James's team wins you looked at Lily confused as James runs over to you and Lily gives you a smiled knowing that James is going to confess his love for you
"Y/n love I want to tell you how I feel about you before Stupid Snivellus comes over and ruins it."
"James, what are you saying?"
"Love, I have feelings for you so I'm asking you if you want to go on a date with me and also if you want to be my girlfriend."
"You like me?" You asked, shocked
James blushes "who wouldn't like a beautiful girl like you so what do you say?"
You smile "Yes, I would love to go on that date with you and of course I would love to be your girlfriend."
James smiles as he pulled you into a deep kiss as everyone watched and cheered and a glaring Severus
Harry had tears in his eyes. "Wow, that was lovely, so that's how my parents began dating?"
Sirius nodded "Yes, I even cried and cheered for them."
Harry cried "I wish I'd met my parents, their love story always makes me sad but happy."
"James and Y/N were really great people, they always loved you, they were overprotective of you Harry."
Harry smiled "I sometimes feel alone without my parents but I don't anymore because I have great people who always look out for me and I'm grateful for it."
"We will always be with you." Lily pulled Harry into a hug
"Always and forever." Remus pulled everyone into a big group hug

Frank Chapter 75
AO3
She is out giving Wee Frank some fresh air when she sees them pull up. The fact they are Redcoats has her drawing him close to her side. Then she sees him.  Never in her life did she expect to see him again. Completely flustered, she places her son behind her back and lowers her head praying he won’t recognize her.

“You, kitchen winch, I have an appointment with your Laird.”

“Aye. He be in his office.”

He rolls his eyes. “As I have never been to this place, how would I know where it is? You will escort me.”

“Biggest pardon sir, but I have my son and … I will see that someone else…”

Wee Frank picks that particular moment to pop his head out. He has his father’s face but his hair has gone blonde, thank the Saints.

“Very well then,” She breathes out in relief taken her child’s hand. Then he gives her a second look, “Wait don’t I know you?”

“Good sir, I cannot see how. I live and work here.”

He lets it go but follows her with a frown as he and his men lead the horses in.

She breaths easier once she  hands off the guests to Murtagh. She takes her son in her arms and hurries away.

“Who was that?” Black Jack asks his escort.

“Mistress Wolverton and her son Wee Frank.”

“Mistress, she is married then?”

“Widowed.” He gives the man a stern look. The man isn’t a stranger to him, though he prays he doesn’t recall their other encounter. The fact he is kin to the late Mr. Wolverton is obvious. They are still trying to find a suitable match for Laoghaire. It isn’t him though. There is something quite unsettling about him.

“Captain Randall, thank you for coming by.” Colum stands, flanked by Dougal and Ned.

“An invitation I couldn’t refuse. It isn’t often I am invited into a Scottish keep.”

Laoghaire runs to the bedchamber of Mistress Fraser.

“Forgive my intrusion.” Hastily said.

“It is alright.” Claire has just fed Arabella and changed her clod. The baby, a week old now, lays sleeping beside her.

“Baby.” Wee Frank spots her.

“Aye darling. She is quite wee. Look but no touch.”

Claire smiles. The lass is becoming an excellent mam.

“Did you come to see her?”

“Nae, not that she isn’t beautiful. I needed a place to hide out while he is here.”

A frown as she sits farther up. “Who?”

A quick look to her son before she moves closer to her. She whispers. “His real father.”

“Aye. We have a spot of business to discuss.”  Colum takes his seat and all follow, all but Dougal, who stands behind his Laird.

“Well, I am intrigued.”

“You have a price on my nephew ‘s head. I want it removed.”

“Do you now? Why should I do that?”

“So this isn’t sent to your superiors.” Ned hands Colum the petition he made up. Black Jack takes it and reads over it. Then again.

“None of this can be proven.”

“We have witnesses, both Scottish and English.” Ned calmly replies.

“His father is…” her hand goes to her mouth. It makes sense though. The resemblance would be perfect, “a Redcoat Captain?”

“Aye. I dinna think he recalls me but… do you ken why he is here?”

“I do. Business with Colum.” The reason Jamie is in hiding at the Proctor and Mistress Duncan house with the other children.

“Do you think it will be long?”

“No. He should take his departure by the days end. If I would have known, I would have warned you.”

“He didn’t seem to pay much mind to Wee Frank.”

“Good.”

“If I say I will haul James Fraser away if you send this out?”

“He cannot be made to leave the keep by compulsion unless there is evidence of a crime, unless the Laird turns him over.” Ned explains.

“It is simple. Sign this statement, removing any charges against him, removing the price and this petition will never see the outside of this room.” Colum adds.

As much as he wants another chance to play with the striped back bloke, he is a realist and knows when he has been bested. He signs the document.

Walking out, he recalls where he knew the winch from. A quick mind does the math. Stopping right outside the walls, he turns.

“Captain?” one of the others asks.

“I am not leaving here without my son.”

Hiii, I saw you do matchups so I was wondering if you could do a Stardew matchup!
My name is James and I’m male using he/him. I’ve got some mental struggles, so someone who is patient and will let me ramble on and on about nonsense is always nice. I’m just about to go into studies of horticulture as I enjoy caring for plants. I’m also really into things such as aquascaping, collecting old radios and CD players, and story based / farm based games (Minecraft, subnautica, COD campaigns).
I’m bisexual, and currently exploring the asexual spectrum (at the moment I’d say I’m demi). I have preferences for those bigger than me, myself being 5’6, and older whether it be by two years or more.
For personality, I would say I’m a bit of a yapper when I’m close to someone, usually about my latest character obsession or hyperfixation. And I get high jumps of energy at random, other times I’m more sleepy and laidback. Most friends would describe me to be like a cat because of that, alongside the facts I won’t stop knocking their stuff off tables and counters, alongside the fact that when I’m tired I tend to lean up against whoever’s closest. My MBTI is ISTJ if that helps at all.
Take care<333
Dr. James Wilson M.D sent me an ask on tumblr what a joyous day! (/j)
== Stardew Valley ==>
I match you up with…
Sandy (This is going a bit off of headcanons and such, but I really like the idea of you two)
The first time you meet Sandy, you two hit it off like no one’s business. The instant she mentions her love of plants, you two are chatting for hours.
She keeps sending you letters and inviting you to visit her and vice versa after that. You see her at least twice a week, and you two spend hours talking about plants and the ocean and eventually, your life on the farm.
I imagine she’s at least a little aware of video games, but I don’t think she’d be as knowledgable about them as you are. This results in gaming nights where the two of you sit down, shoulder to shoulder, and enjoying some classic parallel play.
She’s really understanding of your energy level differences. When you get high energy, she’s willing to sit down and smile as you explain things with exuberance. And when you’re tired and down, she’ll let you rest your head on her lap.
I imagine you fall first but Sandy falls harder. You’re enchanted by her passion and grace and frefinement, and she eventually comes to care for your cat-like personality and ability to talk at length about your interests.
It all comes to a head when she inevitably confesses, giving you some hand-picked roses from the valley and confessing that she’d like to spend more time with you, including the rest of her life.

Tumblr media
𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: vinnie hacker x influencer!fem!reader
𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: you and vinnie try to keep your relationship under wraps throughout a wild game of real life among us.
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: swearing, (it’s among us, so ✨murder✨) anxious reader, pure fluff
𝗔/𝗡: this was requested by @morganwilliams !! i hope i did this request justice!
THIS IS A LONG ONE!! really really hope you guys like it :)
this is based off of james charles’ among us in real life 2 video
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
whenever someone asked you about your career, you were never a hundred percent sure what to say. “i stand in front of a camera and make shitty jokes for a living” just didn’t have a nice ring to it.
you often found yourself settling on the term influencer, but it was hard to see yourself as someone who influenced people.
sure, you’d talk about things you enjoy doing and maybe sprinkle in some opinions or two, but the idea of you having the power to form someone’s day or perspective on life was draining. you never saw your content as a job, yet it was the only income of money in your life.
the bottom line was, you were grateful for living such a rare and unique lifestyle.
your boyfriend was too.
you weren’t close with a lot of content creators, but you did end up forming a bond with dixie d’amelio and her sister charli.
the three of you got along really well and would film tiktoks whenever you were together. while you already had a following, your view count skyrocketed after being featured on the sisters tiktoks. it was overwhelming, but they helped you through it.
dixie was always there for you whenever you needed a break and someone to lift your spirits, while charli was always there for you when you needed to rant or a shoulder to cry on. the two girls knew you better than most, and when they invited you to join them in a james charles video, you were extremely nervous. even more nervous when they told you that james insisted to have you join.
you wanted to say no, but after them promising you that it would be fun, you decided against it. you had never met james, despite him being close with the sisters, and you were really excited to finally meet him and whoever else would be there.
you were in a groupchat with dixie and charli, the three of you discussing the event. everyone was bringing dates, except james, meaning that there would be eleven people in total if y/n went.
dixie was bringing noah, her boyfriend who you had only talked to through facetime when he called her while you were with her. he seemed nice on the phone and you were sure you’d get along since you were close with dixie. charli told you that she was bringing larray, someone you had never met in real life either. you knew james would be there, obviously, but that was it.
you decided to reach out to james and let him know that you were nervous, but excited to meet him. the two of you chatted through dms and he informed you on who was scheduled to be there. he wanted you to bring a date too. anyone, as long as they were an influencer of some kind, and you immediately thought of your boyfriend. so you texted vinnie, who was down with the idea.
the only people you knew there were dixie, charli, and vinnie. you weren’t good with first impressions and vin knew that.
“i will be there with you the whole time! and it’s gonna be really fun, i know it.” he kisses your temple and rubbed your shoulders. he always had a way with reassuring you.
when you arrived, you were met with a grinning james. he gave you and vinnie hugs before opening the door and letting you in. he wanted the reveal to be a suprise so he lead the two of you to a guest room with suits and accessories laid out on a bed. james was already in gear, a white space suit on his body.
you and vinnie were the last ones to arrive, leaving three colors left to choose from. the rest of the crew mates were waiting in a living room.
“okay, so these are the options left, and we have little accessory thingys to choose from, so i will leave you guys here and you can pick between these and when you are done just meet me at the bottom of the stairs and i’ll introduce you to everyone. okay?” james rambled as you and vinnie looked over at the items left.
“okay, cool. sorry we were late!”
“no, no! don’t be, it’s okay!”
before walking out, he pulled you to the side. “i just wanted to say, dixie told me about you guys and i promise not to say anything about y’all’s relationship, i get it. and don’t worry if something gets caught on film, okay? i can edit it out, just have fun!” you whispered a quick thank you and he gave you another hug before closing the door, leaving you and vinnie to get changed.
“what color do you want?” you asked.
there was brown, black, and pink left.
“i call black!” you reached out and grabbed the suit, holding it up to your body.
“hey, i wanted black!”
“too bad, it’s mine.”
“fuck, i guess i’ll take pink then..”
you ripped off your shirt, leaving you in a bra before zipping up the suit. it was hot as fuck outside and you knew you’d melt if you wore something heavy underneath. you and vinnie made slight eye contact every few seconds, while jumping into your costumes.
“pink looks good on you, babe.” you giggle.
he smiles and picks up a headband with horns on it.
“ooo!” you zipped up the jacket before running over to look at the options. a gasp left your lips once you saw the fuzzy cat ears and you swiftly placed them on your head.
“lovey, look it!” you turn to vinnie with a smile on your face as you point to you cat ears.
“aww.” vinnie coos, wrapping his arms around your back.
“in all serious babe, we need to make sure we keep this under wraps.” you state.
“keep what?”
“us.”
“oh..” his mouth lowers into a slight frown as he plays with your hair. “yeah, i know.”
“we don’t want to start any drama and i don’t want either of us to get hate, so just… i don’t know- keep your distance today.”
“oh.. okay. i see how it is.” he crosses his arms, a charming expression resting on his face.
“no- not like a big distance! just ya know… try and look platonic.” he simply nods at your words before you both walk down the stairs to meet james.
“ahh!! you look so good, oh my god!” he gushes before leading you two to meet the rest. as you step through the house, voices louder and louder. you were already overwhelmed by the amount of people you could here. you turned a corner and was met with eight people, all sitting around a couch, chatting. lights were set all around them, illuminating the bright colors they wore.
you gulped and felt vinnies hand interlock with yours. he lightly squeezed before letting go, his way of letting you know that he was there.
i hope no one saw that.
◦◦,`°.✽✦✽.◦.✽✦✽.°`,◦◦
after meeting everyone, we all settled down and stood around a table, a black backdrop behind us. you tried to keep some space between you and vinnie and decided not to stand next to him, but to stand next to james and dixie instead. charli stood behind you while vinnie stood behind james. you turned your head to the right and was met with vinnie who was already looking at the back of your head. he was still close by, but far enough to go unnoticed. he smiled at you and you smiled back, before quickly turning around as james started his introduction.
you were too nervous to comprehend fully what he was saying, but snapped out of it once it was time to introduce yourself.
“quen, purple.”
“nas, cyan.”
“dixie, blue!”
“charli, green.”
“y/n, black!”
“james, white.”
“nai, orange.”
“vinnie, pink!”
“larray, red.”
“chase, lime.”
“noah, yellow.”
we cheered before gathering to the table. you and charli both picked the cat ears and gushed over how you guys matched. you tried to act natural, but you’ve never been in such a foreign setting and the fact that you had to keep your relationship with vinnie a secret, didn’t help. the only people who knew you two were dating was charli, dixie, noah and james. everyone else had no idea.
you stayed with charli, chase on the other side of you as you guys waited to get your cards. vinnie was talking to charli about something, so you decided to be brave and spark a conversation with chase.
“so.. was like your first choice?” he looked over at you, a phone in his hand ready to film.
“huh? oh, no, not really.. i didn’t mind though.” you just nodded.
awkward.
“hey, you and charli match!” he smiled, pointing at your headband with cat ears on it.
“oh, yeah!”
“that’s so cute!” he giggled, looking down at his feet. he shifted forwards in the line.
“yeah.. what do you have?” you reached out to grab whatever was on his head.
“oh, it’s a leaf.” he bent his head down so his hair was on full display, showcasing the headpeice.
“how cute!” vinnie couldn’t help but overhear the conversation. he knew chase was single and that you were his type on paper. he wouldn’t have to worry about him hitting on you, if he knew y’all were dating, but he didn’t.
you nodded, looking down at the table in front of you. you found yourself wanting to continue the conversation with him.
“so, did you- where you in the last one?” he looked into her eyes, “the last james among us video, i mean.” you chuckle awkwardly.
“oh! yeah, no i wasn’t. this is my first time.” you both made eye contact before making your way to the other side of the table and grabbed your cards. you looked up to see vinnie across from you. you gave him a small smile and he looked at you with a straight face. for a quick second, you were sure he was upset with you, but then he sent a sly wink your way, causing you to suppress a chuckle.
charli placed her hand on your shoulder. “you’re gonna be alright, right?”
“yeah! yeah, i think i’ll be okay..” you nodded.
“okay, i’m gonna be here if you need me, just come and find me okay? if you get overwhelmed, let me know and we can talk to james about it.”
“thank you, charli.” you hugged her and she kissed your head.
“now go have fun!” charli made her way outside.
ROUND ONE
you held your camera before walking towards the back of the house where the asteroids were. you opened your card and showed it to the camera.
CREWMATE
“im innocent, y’all!” you exclaimed before looking over your tasks.
1: fix the wires
2: bell grab
3: ball toss
4: puzzle
seems easy enough
“alright, y’all! i don’t know… where the fuck i am.” i walked out of the room and made my way into a hallway. i didn’t notice chase walking behind me until he spoke up.
“where you off to?”
“JESUS! oh my god, you scared the fuck outta me!” you playfully hit his arm before turning around and continuing your way through the house. “i don’t know, honestly. i have to fix the wires though..”
“oh, cool.” he nodded, his camera recording him and the girl walking.
noah started to approach them. “oh hey.”
“oh hey!” chase said.
“hey huddy.”
“hi noah..” you smiled and reached your hand out. noah high fives it before saying a small “hey y/n..” and walking by you and chase. you found the room with the wires and you and chase went your separate ways.
when you entered the room, you were met with a bright pink jumpsuit.
“hey, pretty girl.” he smirked. they were alone, the red light illuminated their faces.
“you are so lucky im holding the camera…”
“what?” he shot her a puzzled look, causing her to stare.
“oh…”
“yeah, ‘oh.’ vinnie, you need to be careful…”
“i know, i know… im sorry. from now on, we barely know eachother.” he placed his hand on his chest and you shot him an uncertain face before nodding and fixing the wires. you both kept your cameras out, making sure to edit this conversation out later.
all of a sudden, a body was reported.
“oh, shit..” vinnie stated. you both looked at eachother in suprise. “someone’s dead!” you walked quickly to the main room. “already??” you asked your camera.
when the couple entered the room, larray walked by and started talking to james who was playing dead on the floor.
“james is dead, you can’t talk to him.” vinnie stated.
“couldnt care less!” larray replied, causing y/n to laugh.
the group started conversing and chase admitted to finding the body.
“okay, you were at the puzzle.. y/n, where were you?”nas asked.
“i was fixing the wires with vinnie.”
stay cool, y/n. stay cool.
“where were you, nas?” you asked.
“i was outside by the vent thing.”
“BY THE VENT THING?!” charli yelled. you immediately started cracking up and grabbed charlis arm to keep yourself steady.
“WHY WERE YOU BY THE VENT?!” you two were cracking up and everyone else started yelling at nas.
“he came up to me, and was trying to kill me!” larray shouted over the noise.
while nas shared his defense, nai cut everyone off.
“should we skip!? should we skip? we have thirty seconds, should we skip or are we voting?” larray stood next to her, nodding his head as everyone decided to skip.
“okay guys…” y/n spoke into the lens, “i have to try not to die, because clearly, there is a murderer on the loose.”
you turned around at the sound of your name being called. charli waddled up behind you in her green suit.
“hey!”
“hi, i’m scared and don’t want to be alone.” she explained looking into her camera, causing you to laugh.
“no, because same! what task do you have?”
charli pulled out her card and you scanned it.
“i have the bell grab too! i think it’s over here.” you pointed as charli followed behind you.
“hi, charli!” noah greeted, walking by you two. you both said hello before finding the bell grab station.
“oo! okay, so i have to jump and try and grab the bell.”
charli went first, starting off in small bounces on the trampoline.
“you’ve got this!”
her hair blew in her face as she laughed breathlessly, reaching her arm out to hit the bell. she kept jumping until you heard a light ring.
“i did it!” she jumped off and wrapped her arms around you, causing you to almost drop your camera. “that was harder, than i thought it’d be!” she was out of breath as she watched you step on the trampoline.
you hit the bell in the first try, charli’s mouth agape. “no way!”
“i can’t believe i did that!” you angled your camera to show the two of you in shock.
charli moved into the house, while you walked to the other side of the backyard to the ball toss.
an emergency meeting was called before you could get there. you and noah entered the meeting last, you both stood to the side of the table. you looked up at your boyfriend who was trying his best to stay cool despite how cute you looked with your hair all messed up from jumping and your cat ears.
“what happened?” vinnie shrugged.
“you called this shit?” quen asked looking at charli.
charli explained that quen reached for her knife while they were alone doing asteroids. the group was now trying to figure out who was lying as the two girls yelled at eachother. dixie walked up to noah, now standing next to you. “do you think charli is lying?”
“i can’t tell..” you said, before slamming your hand on the table. “WAIT! guys, listen.” people continued to talk over you, making vinnie scream ‘shut up’ at the top of his lungs. everyone’s eyes were on vinnie.
“y/n has something to say.”
“thank you! okay, so i almost forgot, me and charli did the bell grab together, and she never tried to kill me, so i don’t think it’s her..”
“right, but you two are close, right? so she wouldn’t kill you.” nas explained.
before you could answer, quen added, “yeah, how do we know you aren’t the imposter? it’s probably you and charli!”
it was time to vote and it was a tie, meaning no one got ejected.
“okay, bitches.” you were out of breath from walking around the house, but you had to make your way to the basketball court. “i still have to do the stinkin ball toss…” your sneakers hitting the ground and the conversations from afar was the only thing you could hear. “so… i see nothing but trees and tiktokers… life is crazy!” you held the camera up and made a fuckboy face before doing the ball toss and making your way back to the house.
“hey guys!” you smiled as larray and nai walked by you, heading towards the station.
“hey, y/n! don’t mind me, just chilling with my bestie!” larray responded.
you looked at your camera with wide eyes before mouthing ‘sus’.
a few minutes later, while you were working on a task, an alarm ran off and it was declared that the round was over and that the imposters won. quen and larray admitted to being the imposters.
“no way!! did you kill nai when i went by you guys?”
“yes, i killed her. i was like ‘oh, fuck, y/n is gonna see us’ so i waited for you to leave!” you all erupted in laughter before being handed your second card.
ROUND TWO
“let’s see….” you opened the note with your fate on it and sighed contently. “thank god, i don’t want to be imposter!”
CREWMATE
1: who’s the imposter challenge
2: ball toss
3: shooting asteroids
charli walked by you as you headed towards the first station. you both said hi before she claimed to be going to security upstairs. you filmed her walking up the stairs before moving the camera back to your face. “not sure if i trust that, but okay.”
you stayed in a fairly large group of people when the alarm went off. charli reported james dead body.
“poor james! he’s died first every time.” you frown at your camera. vinnie walked up behind you and instinctively put his hands on your waist before quickly removing them.
dumbass.
dixie had to leave, so mario replaced her and next to nas. vinnie tried his best to nonchalantly stand beside you.
“i’m skipping..” vinnie mutters, scratching his neck.
“me too.” you nod your head as the majority vote was revealed. most people skipped, meaning no one was ejected.
“hey, boo!” you spotted lil nas dribbling a basketball infront of his tripod.
“hey!” he greeted and gave you a hug. the two of you hit it off before the game started. you both did the ball toss together, his hands on his camera with yours laced in your hair.
“ugh, look at us!”
the light hit the two of you in a way that made you look godly. you both had your arms extended and filmed the lighting on your faces.
“love that!”
“yes… oh my god i would do me. i would do us, honestly.” you both laughed when the alarm went off.
“okay, girl, you can back me up here! i swear, i think it’s quen, because she was looking at me weird as fuck dude..”
“oh my god, make sure you say something during the meeting!”
“i will.” you both walked into the room to see everyone yelling. vinnie stood in the corner, his face soft like a lost puppy. she could tell he was confused.
the group voted out quen who turned out to be innocent and continued their tasks. you spent the next round doing asteroids and were alone the whole time when another meeting was called. nai and charli were exposed as imposters.
“okay, i don’t know what the fuck happened.” you felt someone lightly tap your side and turned to see your boyfriend.
“i have no fucking clue, i was banging my head on the bell.” you bursted out laughing and he shushed you while the group commerced.
“i got that on camera!”
what a weirdo. i love him so much.
ROUND THREE
“god, if you love me, please don’t give me imposter that is just too much work..” you placed your hands on your knees and took a deep breath before opening the card.
CREWMATE
you smirked at the camera and pointed. “i’m a finesser, i swear…”
1: puzzle
2: fixing wires
3: shoveling snowballs
“time to go do the puzzle!” you singsonged before you felt something round knock you in the back. vinnie stood there with a finger to his lips.
“what are you doing? is that a snowball?”
“yeah, i took it from the station, don’t tell james.”
“what do you want?” you giggled. the two of you were alone without any cameras.
“you just look really cute with your cat ears and i wanted a kiss..”
“oh, my god no!”
“what?”
“you are gonna try and kill me!” you shouted. “no i won’t!” you knew you would regret this if he killed you, but a kiss is a kiss.
“vin, i swear to god, if you kill me-“
“i won’t.” he pressed his lips to yours and you quickly wrapped your legs around him, your fingers pulling lightly on his locks. you broke away from the steamy kiss and picked your camera back up.
“pleasure doing business with ya..” you shook his hand, when an alarm went off.
james and nas found mario’s body and the group interrogated the two. charli handed you a bag of m&ms. “you doing okay?” you smiled and nodded.
what a sweetheart.
they skipped and continued completing their tasks. you popped an m&m into your mouth and began to talk to your camera. “i honestly am so proud of myself for not dying! like, damn… i did that.”
after completing the puzzle, noah’s body was discovered by nai. “okay, it’s definitely y/n and vinnie!” james yelled, everyone’s eyes were on the couple.
“what?! no, why me?”
“no, okay, it’s definitely james. there’s no way- james has died first every round and now that he’s imposter, he’s not dead and goes upstairs with noah, leaves and noah’s dead? that’s not a coincidence, and it’s not nai because i doubt she got it twice in a row, come on.” james started to call vinnie a liar.
“what- why- why, do you think its y/n?” vinnie asked.
“sister y/n was following me at the start of the round!”
james what the fuck.
“UMM I DID NOT!”
the group ended up with 4 votes for james, 1 vote for quen, 1 vote for vinnie, and 1 vote for nas.
“it’s definitely vinnie, his girlfriend is just backing him up, i swear.” nas mutters.
did he just call me his girlfriend?
fuck… they are onto us
future james, please don’t use that footage.
“i’m fixing my wires! fixing my wires!” you sang, the tripod standing before you. “fixing these motherfucking wires- okay i’m done.” you walked downstairs and heard a meeting called.
nai was found dead and chase and vinnie were accusing nas and larray.
“i know it’s not me!”
“okay, it’s y/n!”
“what? i just said it’s not me nas, what the fuck!”
the group tied between chase and nas.
“guys this is so fucking stupid! stop tying..” you groaned and heard vinnie shout ‘i agree’ before making your way to the christmas tree to shovel the snowballs.
vinnie walked up behind you and started shoveling with you.
“are you going to kill me?”
“what? no, y/n.. i don’t even have this task.” he giggled, his face turning a crimson shade.
“why are you here than?” smiling up at him but keeping your distance, you felt your knees start to weaken at his smile.
“i just wanted to make sure you aren’t dead.”
as if on cue, an alarm was rung and everyone voted for larray, making nas and james win.
“imposters win!” james squealed.
nas walked up to you and gave you a hug. “bestie, what happened?!”
“sorry, i had to keep them off of me, i was starting to look sus!” everyone started making small talk and you decided to ask him what was on your mind.
“so, who told you about me and vinnie? was it james?”
“what? no, i could just tell. i get that it might be difficult, but you guys are really cute together- honestly.”
he walked away before you could answer and you could feel a smile work it’s way onto your face.
everyone got together to film the outro, y/n standing next to vinnie. while james was talking, she took a deep breath and grabbed the sides of vinnies face, pulling him in for a kiss. nai turned and saw, putting her hand over her mouth in shock. no one else noticed since they were in the back row. when she pulled away he smiled at her, before they regained their composure.
after the cameras turned off, y/n walked up to james who was eating m&ms.
“hey, you are gonna see something in the background of your outro..” james nodded.
“leave it in.”

Jaune can’t help but find it a bit odd that his girlfriend Winter will only allow him into her panties if he’s cosplaying as Captain America.
The Winter Hero
Jaune Arc was a man of principle. He was raised to be a gentleman; kind, generous, and sensitive to a woman's needs. His mother and sisters groomed him to be the perfect boyfriend for anyone lucky enough to have him.
Chocolate ice cream at 3 AM, even though all the stores are closed? Done before dawn.
Need some guy to stop stalking you? Jaune wasn't a man of violence, but he had his ways to deter creeps.
Need another girl for your sleepover? Not a problem, even though he got a few awkward glances from his sister's friends.
However, almost as soon as he left the nest, his first girlfriend was completely independent. Any offer to help was completely shut down. But this was to be expected from an officer of the Atlas military. Yes, Winter Schnee never made any requests to her boyfriend.
That is, until one Halloween night...
Jaune looked himself over in the mirror at his costume. His blue spandex bodysuit was slim, if not constricting. It featured a white letter "A" on his forehead with a pair of wings just behind his temples, a star in the center of his chest, and a design of red and white stripes over his abdominals and circling around the back. He looked down to the flat, metal disk shield that weighed about thirty pounds. Not all too heavy for him, but it still weighs down over time. Yes, he was the hero of life and liberty, Captain America!
He sighed and shook his head as he looked over his ridiculous outfit. When he asked about their plans for Halloween, Winter explained she already ordered his and that she intended to go to a costume party with him. He knew better than to question it, but did it have to be this superhero?
Jaune has read his fair share of comics, and when asked who his was, he would answer Batman. Unfortunately for him, though, Winter was a Marvel fan, so his favorite superhero would have to stick to the sshadows tonight.
A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. Picking up the shield, he walked over to the door and opened it. The sight in front of him almost made him drop his shield.
On the other side of his apartment door stood a beautiful woman with snow white hair, cascading down over her shoulders like an avalanche. She wore a silver body-suit, reminiscent of the ones worn by special forces, that hugged all of her curves perfectly. Around her waist was a gray belt designed to look like it had multiple compartments.
"Is there something wrong, Jaune?" He blinked and gave a nervous chuckle. She looked him up and down and smiled. "I see your costume matches the measurements I provided."
"Uh, actually, it feels a little tight." Jaune replied, tugging at his collar. "I can breathe just fine, but-"
"Good." Winter turned around and began walking towards the stairs. "Let's go. It's time for the party."
"Uh, yeah, sure!" Jaune shut the door behind him and followed her. "I like your costume. Who are you supposed to be?" Being a gentleman, Jaune asked, since he was certain it would tie to her interests.
"Silver Sable." Winter replied without looking back. "Russian mercenary. Leader of the Wild Pack. First appearance in 'The Amazing Spider-Man Issue #265'."
"Oh, she sounds... intense." Being a man, Jaune's eyes wandered to her hips, where her ass lightly swayed with every step, leaving nothing to the imagination. His costume felt tighter.
At the party, Jaune struggled to keep his shield up. He had shifted between his arms twice since he started carrying it. He could set it down, but every time he did, Winter would find out. The first time, she lightly chastised him, saying, "I thought you were supposed to be a hero." The second, and last time, she hit harder, telling him, "You're supposed to be a hero. So be one." She knew one of Jaune's dreams was to be a hero, someone who helps others and can be looked up to with pride. He sighed as he looked over the crowd.
The costumes varied, but he recognized everyone as someone from Winter's command. Elm Ederne, a specialist of Atlas' Ace Operatives, was dressed as some kind of monk, she explained, and carried a set of drums on her waist. He thought she was a hippie at first, but was swiftly corrected. Their commanding officer, General James Ironwood, was luckier than Jaune and dressed up as Batman. Jaune was green with envy. Or he was when Councilman candidate Robyn Hill showed up, dressed as Orchid from Killer Instinct. He never played the game, but he recognized the costume from... research.
"Jaune," he looked to his left and saw Winter standing with her arms crossed, "do you want to leave?" Jaune blinked, but before he could say anything, she spoke first. "I know that look on your face. You're bored. If you wish to leave, I won't force you to stay."
"I'm fine," Jaune replied, "I'm just... reading the room." Winter sighed, leaning against the wall next to him. She had an annoyed look on her face. "Are you okay, Winter?"
"I'm fine." She replied without looking at him. Instead, she was looking at the attention Robyn was getting. With a scowl, she huffed under her breath. "Pigs."
"Svin'ya." Winter looked to Jaune, who was wearing a smile on his face. "Svin'ya is pig in Russian."
She chuckled at that, gracing her lips with a smile. Jaune liked making people smile. Well, maybe not make, but help smile. She leaned closer, forcing Jaune to shift his shield to his other arm. She held his arms and sighed. Jaune felt his suit grow even tighter.
"Do you want to leave?" Winter looked up to Jaune. With a smile, she replied.
"Yes."
Winter and Jaune arrived at her apartment door. The walk home was certainly brisk, but made warmer with their body heat combined as they held close on their trip, as well as Jaune holding the shield against the wind. She reached into her belt and clipped open one of the compartments and pulled out her keys. Jaune held the shield behind her, pretending to protect her from some evil or another.
As she opened the door, Jaune stepped away. "Good night, Winter."
Winter turned to face Jaune. "Won't you come in? After all, it's cold outside tonight."
"I'm sure I'll be fine." He replied with a red-cheek and -nose smile.
"At least warm before you go." Winter gestured for him to enter. "I couldn't bear to think of you becoming hypothermic because of me."
"Just another part of being a hero!" Jaune chuckled.
"Actually," Winter said, placing her chin between her index and thumb, "I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but your costume has an interesting feature."
"Feature?" A stray wind blew in, chilling Jaune where he stood. "On second thought, maybe staying a second to warm up wouldn't hurt." He stepped inside, setting his shield down by the coat rack inside. She shut the door behind him.
"I'm glad to see you've come to your senses." She stepped further into the apartment, Jaune following close behind.
He had been here twice, but the size always amazed him. It was at least three times the size of his, and included it's own washer and dryer set. It was only a balcony away from being considered a penthouse. With the click of a button, Winter summoned a fireplace from the darkness.
Following her to the couch, Jaune sat down next to Winter. She leaned closer to him then nuzzled against his chest. She leaned up, kissing him as he leaned down. She prodded tongue past his lips, and upon receiving invitation, grabbed him by the back of his head and pulled him into her. Their breathing became heavy as the two pulled themselves closer to the other, their make-out growing more intense by the second.
Pulling away, Jaune groaned. "Damn."
"Something wrong?"
"This costume's in the way." Jaune tugged at his collar, causing Winter to chuckle.
"No, it isn't." Before he could ask, Winter slipped to her knees, kneeling in front of Jaune's crotch. "I custom-ordered this, you know." She traced her middle finger from the couch up to his groin. "I needed to get," she dug into a flap he never noticed, "your exact," and she pulled down the zipper he never knew, "measurem- Ack!" Winter recoiled as she was slapped by Jaune's dick.
"You okay?" Jaune asked.
"I'm fine," Winter waved him off, "I just... got my measurements wrong." She eyed his penis with a critic's glare. It was larger than the average she suspected, possibly six-and-a-half, if not seven inches in length, with a girth that made making her index and thumb have difficulty meeting. "But I'll adapt."
Before Jaune could say anything, Winter wrapped her lips around Jaune's head, tracing over it with her tongue. He lightly gasped as she pumped his shaft and she moved her head in a rhythm up and down his cock.
"F-Fuck!" Jaune grunted. "I'm gonna-!"
Winter pulled away and pumped with more vigor. With a moan, Jaune came a thin rope onto Winter's costume, a stream of white oozing onto her hands. She turned around, looking back to Jaune.
He squinted for a moment, then took notice of the zipper at the top of her back. He reached forward and pulled down. The costume came splitting in half as he dragged the tab closer to it's destination. As he reached the end, Winter stood up.
"Jaune," he couldn't see, but she looked at him with a sort of predatory gaze, as if he were a breathing meal for her to devour, "do you want to keep going?" With a gulp, he answered.
"Uh, I don't have any condoms."
"No?" She chuckled. "Check your shield." Jaune stood up and walked over to the hat rack where he placed his shield, his now flaccid cock swaying in the air with every step. Felling around, he noticed a hatch near the center, behind the handle. With a click, it opened and he found box of condoms. He couldn't see the brand, but the box felt small. That was fine, though, since he wasn't expecting to burn through ten or so condoms tonight. "Did you find them?" Winter called out.
"Yeah, they were behind the han-duuuuuh..." Jaune's jaw dropped at the sight in front of him. Bathed in firelight, Winter removed her soiled costume and laid back against the couch, her legs spread, her hair wild, and her eyes hungry. She became instantly erect.
"Then come here, my hero."
Winter moaned loudly as Jaune thrusted himself into her from behind. Every movement forward by him drove her further over the edge. This may have been their first time, but Jaune was clearly experienced. Some way, somehow, this man had a lover before her, and they perfected him into the breeding bull slamming into her.
With a grunt, Jaune came into the condom and pulled out. He huffed as he removed the rubber from his semi-stiff staff. Winter whirled around and slurped on his phallus until he was nice and hard again. Once he put the next condom on, she pushed him onto his back, then slipped him inside.
She bounced up and down his rod as she moaned and gasped. Jaune tried to match her pace with his thrusts, but she was moving too fast for him. He panted as she rode him like it was a rodeo. He settled his hand on her hips and took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, she was above him, her hair acting as a white veil to hide themselves from the world. Her mouth split to a predatory grin.
"You like it?" She growled.
"Y-Yeah!" He grunted.
"You like it?" She repeated.
"Yeah!" He whined.
"You want me?" She leaned closer, slowing her pace.
"Y-Yes!" He panted. She leaned next to his ear.
"Then take me."
Jaune flipped Winter onto her back and held her legs above her in a mating press. She screamed as Jaune pounded with greater vigor into her, grunting as he did so.
"Fuck me!" She shrieked as she held her ankles. "Fuck me! Fuck me! Fuck meeeeeee!"
With a grunt, Jaune came again, panting hard. He pulled out, pulling the condom out with him. He removed the prophylactic the his cock, setting it down next to it's seven siblings.
Eight condoms. The couple's box held eight condoms. With eight used condoms, Jaune sighed as the night's activities drew to a close.
SHUP!
Jaune looked down to see Winter bobbing her head up and down his shaft again. He groaned and pulled her off. With a sigh, he told the truth. "I can't anymore."
"No?" She tilted her head to the side.
"No." He stepped away and gestured to the condoms. "We went through a whole box, it's only a few hours until dawn, and I... I don't think I can do it again."
"I see." She said looking down. She almost looked sad.
"It's nothing against you, but I don't think I can do a round nine like this, condom or no condom."
"Like this?" She tugged on his bodysuit, now soaked in sweat and, in the lower region, genital fluids. "With the suit?"
"Yeah."
"Well, in that case," she reached behind Jaune and pulled down his back zipper, "here." She tugged on his sleeves and helped him out, peeling the it free from his skin. He shivered as the cold air rolled over his bare skin for the first time all night. She stepped free of the suit and sat down.
"That's much better." Winter was about to walk away, but felt him grab her hand. "We're not gonna cuddle?"
She smiled and sat down next to him. They embraced for a moment, then felt him pull her down, so they were laying on the couch. His body felt hot; clearly from the body heat trapped by his suit.
Winter closed her eyes, momentarily thinking about fucking her favorite superhero, Captain America, until she slipped into her dream where she was held in the loving embrace of her hero, Jaune Arc.

Plank All Over Me - Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts Edition
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Masterlist
Plank All Over Me Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Welcome back to Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts.” James Cordan said to the camera. “I’m here with Tom and Y/n Holland.”
“Oh my God.” Tom looked at you with wide eyes as you both thought the same thing.
“He introduced us.” You realized. “We can’t do our bit.”
“You’re my wife now, darling. You get to do anything you want.” Tom stated at he looked at James. “James, we’re actually Dave and James Franco.”
“Who’s who?” James humored you, well aware of the way you and Tom acted in interviews.
“I’m clearly the James.” You mumbled as you smoothed your dress.
“Dave is more attractive.” Tom shrugged sassily and you made a face at him.
“Can we start the game?” James playfully interrupted and you and Tom sat up straight.
“Yes, sorry.” You nodded as James began to explain the rules of the game. You’d seen the bit enough times to know how to play, so you tuned James out a little. You didn’t mean to, you just had a lot on your mind lately. There was something you needed to tell Tom and you hadn’t found the right way to do it yet.
“The first question is for Y/n and since I love her so much I’m going to give her the hot sauce.” James smiled wickedly as he got the hot sauce in front of you.
“Mmm.” You said sarcastically and grimaced at the camera.
“Who got the drunkest at your wedding?” James read off the card before looking at you. You pursed your lips as you thought about the answer before chuckling.
“Probably Tom.” You laughed as you pointed at your husband who was sat across the table from you. His face lit up with laughter as he folded his arms.
“Yeah, I was gonna say. Ryan Reynolds and I had a drinking competition that I definitely won.” He said smugly, making the audience cheer.
“I never imagined I’d be standing by Blake Lively’s side on my wedding day, screaming “CHUG” at my husband, but I’m glad it happened. You made me proud.” You said to Tom with a fond pout on your face.
“Aw.” Tom held his hand over his heart as you stared at each other lovingly.
“Gross.” James deadpanned, making the two of you laugh.
“Next question is for Tom and I am going to give you the cockroaches.” You said as you spun the table. “Love you, honey.”
“It’s looking at me.” Tom gagged as he picked up a cockroach and quickly dropped it back in the little glass bowl.
“How dare that slutty, dead cockroach stare at you.” You joked. “Tell it you’re married.”
“I swear, you two are the strangest couple I had ever sat with.” James shook his head as he laughed.
“We get that a lot.” You and Tom said in unison.
“Okay, Tom, who is the most unprofessional Avenger on set?” You read off your card before setting it back on the table.
“Ooo. That’s a tough one since they’re all so badly behaved.” Tom clicked his tongue and the audience laughed gleefully.
“No, I’m joking.” He smiled at the reaction. “I’m gonna go with Evans because he’s pretty much a ten year old. Like, he carries around one of those tiny skateboards - what are they called?”
“Tech Decks.” You told him.
“Yeah. He carried around a Tech Deck and runs it over everyone’s arms when we’re blocking scenes.” Tom explained as he did the motion of the mini skateboard on the table.
“I have also seen him covered in Cheeto dust countless times.” You added. “He will straight up come to set with orange fingers. He is the opposite of Captain America.”
“I hate that. We call them Wotsitz in England and it makes me cringe.” Tom shuddered as he moved the table. “James, I’m gonna give you the bird saliva.”
“It looks warm.” James commented as he picked it up to examine it. “That’s so unsettling.”
“Ick.” Tom grimaced and picked up a card. “James, which guest would you not invite back to the show?”
The audience reacted accordingly and you raised your eyebrows at the host.
“I can’t answer that.” James held his hand over his mouth as he stared at the bird saliva in front of him.
“Then why do you get asked that in every installment of Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts?” You asked bluntly, making the audience laugh.
“That’s an excellent question and I’m going to think about it while I drink this bird saliva.” James looked you right in the eyes as he took a sip from the small glass. You cringed when he swallowed it and immediately went to take a sip of water.
“Ew. Is it thick?” You wondered as he coughed into his elbow.
“You don’t want to know.” James said hoarsely, shaking his head.
“Do I go now?” Tom asked, already forgetting the order of turns.
“Yes, you pick for Y/n.” James told him as he wiped his mouth.
“Okay.” Tom smiled deviantly and spun the table. “I’m gonna give you the turkey testicles because I know how much you love-“
“Tom.” You cut him off with a stern look.
“Turkey burgers.” He finished his sentence. “She loves turkey burgers.”
You squinted your eyes at him as he laughed devilishly.
“I’m about to walk out.” You threatened him once your fate was put in front of you.
“It’s not a true interview with us unless one of us threatens to leave.” Tom noted as he picked up his card. “Who do you think is the smallest Avenger?”
“Oh, definitely Mackie.” You answered confidently, relieved you didn’t have to eat the “food” in front of you.
“But he’s taller than me.” Tom tilted his head in confusion and your eyes widened.
“Oh you meant height?” You asked, fully misunderstanding the original question. The audience erupted into laughter and you felt your cheeks heat up with embarrassment.
“WHAT?” James asked as he wiped tears from his eyes.
“I thought you were asking about something else.” You said sheepishly as you shrunk in your seat.
“This is CBS.” He reminded you and you have an apologetic grin.
“Next question.” You requested, wanted to move on from your lapse in judgment.
“This ones for Tom and I’m giving you the salmon smoothie.” James decided. “Tom, how much did you get paid for Spiderman: Far From Home?”
“Enough to put a 20 karat ring on Y/n’s finger.” Tom response was immediate and you lit up in delight. You held your hand up to your ear so the camera could see it.
“With matching earrings.” You said coyly before letting out a laugh, all while Tom watched you with a childlike grin.
“My turn. I’m gonna give you the tarantula. James.” You decided and picked up a card. “Who was your least favorite guest on Carpool Karaoke?”
You held the card to your chest as you looked at him expectantly, knowing he’d never answer it.
“I can’t answer that.” He shook his head. “I have an answer but I can’t say it.”
“When you met Lin Manuel Miranda, did he bite his lip?” The words left your mouth before you could stop them. Tom burst out laughing at you, knowing exactly what you were talking about.
“Oh my God. She’s obsessed with that one picture of the guy.” Tom explained.
“It’s so funny. EUHYYYHY WE WERE MARRIED THAT NIGHT.” You imitated the countless singing videos of Lin Manuel Miranda you’d seen on Tik Tok that left you in tears of laughter every night.
“I hear this everyday.” Tom told James as you laughed at yourself.
“I can’t. I can’t. Sorry Lin.” You giggled again before calming down.
“Lin was perfectly lovely and we would love to have him back.” James brought the conversation back to the question. “I have an answer but I just can’t say who it was.”
“Then you better put that spider in your mouth.” Tom nodded towards the spider.
“It’s easy. I do it all the time. Wink wink.” You gave the camera an over exaggerated wink.
“Oh My God. Every time.” Tom scolded you as you made yet another innuendo.
“It smells horrible.” James whined as he leaned down to sniff the tarantula.
“Well it’s a dead bug. Were you expecting Japanese Cherry Blossom?” You sassed him.
“Oh God. Here we go.” James plugged his nose and took a tiny bite of the spiders leg.
“How is it?” Tom wondered as he watched in disgust. “Is it crunchy?”
“It’s gooey.” James told him before wiping his face with his napkin.
“I could’ve told you that.” You shrugged, causing Tom to give you a stern look that told you to behave.
“Stop it.” He couldn’t contain his laughter. “Who’s turn is it?”
“It’s my turn to ask Y/n.” James said as he looked around the table for what hadn’t been used yet.
“Fire away.” You said casually despite the butterflies in your tummy over what he could possible ask you.
“Okay Y/n, I’m gonna give you the grasshoppers.” You bit your tongue between your teeth as James moved the table towards you.
“Delicious.” You grimaced as you poked around in the bowl of grasshoppers.
“Y/n, if you had to date one of Tom’s brothers to save his life, which would you pick?” James read off the card and the audience murmured with anticipation.
“How would I get into that situation?” You stalled your answer, knowing you’d have to pick between hurting Toms feelings or eating a bug.
“And how do I prevent her from getting into that situation?” Tom added, making you laugh. He was trying to keep his cool but you knew the question bothered him.
“You have to answer the question or get to eating. Come on now, before they hop away.” James joked, making the audience laugh. You stared into the bowl of grasshoppers and knew there was no way you could put it on your mouth without throwing up. You gulped and looked at your husband, giving him an apologetic pout before looking at James.
“I guess Sam.” You said weakly and quickly moved the grasshoppers away from you.
“Why Sam?” James asked, always trying to get the best response he could.
“That’s not the question.” You quipped as you taped the card with your fingernail.
“I want to know too.” Tom spoke up, making your stomach drop. You shrugged and folded your arms to look relaxed.
“He was the first one that came to mind and I don’t think you’d want me to sit here and go over the pro’s and con’s of dating all your brothers. Plus, he’s a great chef.” You answered, and to your surprise, Tom smiled.
“That’s true.” He nodded. “Good job, baby.”
“Thank you.” You blew him a playful kiss which he caught and then pretended to throw away to get a laugh. You shot him a look before returning your attention to the table.
“Stop it.” You warned. “Who’s turn is it?”
“It’s your turn, Mrs. Holland.” Tom said, always taking the opportunity to call you that.
“Okay. I’m gonna give you the bulls penis.” You said lovingly as you moved the table.
“You’re too kind, my love.” He teased as it landed in front of him.
“I know. It’s my gift since you always give me the-“
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence.” Tom cut you off. “I don’t even want to know how it ends.”
“Fine. I won’t.” You gave the audience a pointed look and they laughed at your antics. You picked up your card and read the question, immediately laughing at what it asked. You were about to read the question when an idea popped into your head. Tom noticed the way your expression changed and sensed something was up.
“Oh no. I’m scared already.” He smiled nervously as you looked at the card again. Finally, you looked Tom in the eye and gave him a soft smile.
“Are you excited to be a father?” You asked the question that had been weighing on your mind ever since you took a pregnancy test in an airport bathroom two days ago. You wanted to break the news in a memorable way, and constantly being on planes or in cars made that difficult.
This show, however, made it easy.
Toms face melted from a playful smile to wide eyes at your question. The audience quieted down as everyone waited for Tom’s response.
“What?” He asked slowly, studying your face closely to see if you were joking.
“That’s what it says.” You put it simply, makes Toms face shift into a smile. James took the card fork where you had set it down, knowing damn well his writers hadn’t put that as a question, and read it.
“This card says “how big is it?”” James read off the card as he looked at you, making you chuckle slightly.
“I took a creative liberty.” You shrugged. Tom and James looked at each other, both thinking the other was up to something.
“Are you pregnant?” Tom leaned closer to you from across the table to ask.
“You don’t get to ask a question until you’ve chosen what food I have to eat.” You reminded him as you gestured to the table.
“Not to make this about me, but It’s also not your turn.” James threw in a joke as he watched the drama unfold.
“Cow tongue.” Tom said quickly and shifted the table so the cow tongue was in front of you. He looked up at you with all the hope in the world as you gagged at the tongue. “There. Are you really pregnant?”
“Oof.” You blew out a breath. “That’s a toughy.”
“That’s a toughy?” Tom asked in exasperation. You could see his leg bouncing under the table from anticipation but you wanted to drag it out just a little longer.
“Yeah. I mean, I really want to tell you, but this cow tongue also looks really good.” You teased him, making him let out a whine.
“She’s got a point, there.” James nodded, squeezing your hand under the table to congratulate you.
“No she doesn’t!” Tom exclaimed. “Baby? Are you actually pregnant?”
You knew Tom couldn’t take the suspense anymore and broke into a grin.
“Yes.” You told him. “I’m pregnant. We’re pregnant.”
“Really? We’re gonna have a baby?” Toms eyes welled with tears as he covered his mouth with both his hands. He’d been wanting to start a family for a while now but you hadn’t had any luck in conceiving.
Until now.
“Yeah, honey. We’re gonna have a baby.” You reached across the table and rubbed his hand with your thumb before pointing finger guns at the camera. “Keep watching to find out who the father is!”
The audience, who had been busy cheering at your news, switched to laughter.
“She’s kidding. It’s me.” Tom assured the audience.
“He’s kidding.” You insisted. “It’s Benedict!”
“Congratulations to the both of you.” James said sincerely. “I think that just about wraps this up this segment. My producer is going to be very happy with me for getting that information out of you without even asking.”
“You’re welcome.” You smiled at him as he leaned in to press a congratulatory kiss on your cheek. Tom finally broke out of his shocked state and got out of his chair, rushing to you and practically pulling you out of your seat to hug you. His hug was firm but gentle all at the same time, especially around your tummy. He pressed your face into his neck and you heard him sniffle, making you take his hand and put it on your tummy.
“We have about three minutes of commercial break. Excellent job guys.” James said as he got out of his seat. “That was definitely the best Spill Your Guts we’ve ever done. I might have to hire Y/n as a writer here.” He joked.
“Thanks for having us James. All three of us.” You said as you pulled away from Tom. Tom kept a protective hand on your tummy as you rubbed circles on his back.
“I can’t believe you’re pregnant. I’m so happy for you both. That’s beautiful.” James shook Toms hand to congratulate him as well.
“Well when you plank all over someone and don’t use a-
“That’s enough.” Tom cut you off but kept his smile on. “That’s enough for today.”
You leaned into him and took his hand, kissing the back of it as you all walked back towards the main stage.
“Can you believe we met planking on each other for a video and now we’re having a baby?” You asked him.
“I know.” He shook his head in pleasant shock. “We should name our baby BBC, since we met at BBC radio 1.
“You suggesting that tells me you don’t know the other meaning of BBC.” You laughed as you took a seat on James’s couch.
“What’s the other meaning?” Tom looked at you in confusion. You laughed gleefully and patted Toms cheek, always delighted by his innocence.
“Oh, Tom.” You sighed. “I’ll let you google that one.”

~
“C’mon, just make an appearance with me!” You pleaded. “It’s just one night! How bad can it be?” I didn’t even believe the words as they came out of my mouth.
Morgan snorted at that, shaking his head as he moved to exit the bullpen. “Sorry, kid. I love you, but I am not spending my night off at your bitchy sister’s wedding.”
You sighed, reluctantly stepping aside to allow him to leave. Beginning to lose hope, you turned to your only remaining coworker. Spencer was still sitting at his desk, busying himself with organizing drawers and repositioning folders to avoid meeting your gaze as you approached his desk.
“Spencer, please come with me tonight. I can’t deal with my sister alone, and I think I might die if I have to explain to her that the guy I told her I was bringing ghosted me last week.” As you spoke, you watched him try to think of a way to protect your feelings without going. In the year you’d worked at the BAU you’d come to see everyone on the team as family, but it was Reid you felt closest to. When he didn’t respond immediately, you put your hand on his shoulder. “Spence, I need you.” You spoke quietly, but he heard you clearly.
He looked up at you at your last words, visibly conflicted. You gave him your best puppy dog eyes, and he sighed, standing up. Knowing you had won, you threw your arms around his neck in a hug, nearly sending the two of you tumbling over in your enthusiasm. He tentatively wrapped his arms around you, returning the gesture of affection.
His touch brought with it feelings of peace and happiness that you had come to associate with Spencer. Your smile grew impossibly wider as you thanked him a million and one times, squeezing him tightly as you felt relief spread through your body. Forcing yourself to pull away, you noticed his lips had quirked up into a small smile at your reaction.
“You know, almost twenty percent of weddings are called off. There’s still a chance it won’t even happen.” Spencer mumbled as you walked out together. You weren’t sure if he was trying to comfort you or himself. As you reached the garage, you thanked him again for agreeing to be your date. He just nodded, visibly nervous about the event.
You stopped him before he could start walking to the metro. “Let me drive you home,” you insisted, “it’ll be faster and we can talk over our game plan on the way!”
“Game plan?” He questioned, amused at your choice of words.
“Just pretend we’re going undercover on a case! We’ll get into character and everything. This can be fun if we make it fun.” Spencer seemed unconvinced, but he followed you to your car.
As you drove to his place, Spencer seemed to relax as he started to plan, happy to gain some control over the situation. You knew he hated big events, especially ones with a lot of strangers, but your deep dislike for most of your sister’s invite list meant you’d at least suffer together. Pulling up to the curb, you said a quick goodbye, telling him to be ready in an hour.
When you got home, you jumped through the shower, scrubbing off the stress of the work day to allow family-related stress to take its place. You quickly blew your hair dry, putting more effort into your hair and makeup than you usually did. As you reached your closet, you scanned your dresses for one that would match the maroon tie Spencer planned on wearing. A smile spread across your lips when you spotted it, your fingers toying with the soft fabric as you imagined Spencer’s reaction when he saw it.
You tried to push the thought away, sighing at your own hopelessness. You’d been trying to bury your feelings for Spencer ever since you joined the BAU, but it was a losing battle. You found it impossible to ignore him, despite your efforts to remain neutral in his presence. Your heart swelled at the excitement shining in his soft hazel eyes, skipped a beat at the sight of his tongue resting between his lips in concentration, and stopped altogether at the way his hands moved and flexed when he spoke. The opportunity to spend this much one-on-one time with Spencer in what you were sure would be an incredibly flattering suit was almost worth the stress of dealing with your family.
You slipped on the soft satin dress, admiring how it hugged your curves and flowed around your legs. The plunging v-neck was flattering, but tasteful enough to stave off disapproving looks from older guests, leaving you comfortable and confident. You stood in front of the mirror, taking in your appearance as you would a stranger’s. The face that looked back at you was friendly but tense, hands fiddling restlessly with the soft fabric of your dress. It didn’t take a profiler to see you needed to relax.
Taking a deep breath, you cleared your mind, taking a few minutes to give your mind rest and ground yourself. Opening your eyes again, your reflection looked much more peaceful, nodding as you decided you were ready to leave. As you drove to Spencer’s, you felt your heartbeat quickening, this time from excitement instead of stress.
Knocking softly, you were surprised to hear Spencer’s footsteps already nearing you, as if he had been waiting by the door. As he stepped outside, your breath hitched. You shouldn’t be so affected by the sight of him, it’s not like he’d never worn a suit in front of you before. It was mostly the look on his face that struck you, his lips slightly parted and eyes scanning your body as he took in the sight of you.
“So what do you think? Good enough to pass for a put-together adult who hasn’t been dreading this day for months?” You asked.
He took a second to respond. “Y-yeah, you… you definitely shouldn’t worry about it. I mean you look great- not that you don’t usually look great it’s just-”
You interrupted him for his own sake, giggling a soft “thank you, Spence. You don’t look half bad yourself.” Understatement of the century.
Soft music played through the speakers in your car, soothing your nerves as you hummed along to “A Sunday Kind of Love” quietly. You almost jumped when you heard Spencer begin to hum with you.
“You know this song?! I didn’t know you listened to any non-classical music!” You exclaimed, unreasonably excited at your discovery.
“I’ve heard you listening to Etta James on the jet a couple times, so I checked out a couple of her songs,” Spencer said simply. You tried to pretend your heart hadn’t just exploded at the implications behind his words. You couldn’t trust your voice to mask your overflowing adoration for the man beside you, so you just smiled and began to sing along quietly.
Oh I'm hoping to discover
A certain kind of lover
Who will show me the way
Lost in the music, you were surprised for the second time that car ride by Spencer’s voice joining yours to sing the chorus. Your eyes shot to his face, but he kept his eyes forward, a small smile the only sign he’d seen your reaction. You couldn’t help the smile that stretched across your face as you sang with him, his attempts at melody bringing a smile to your face. The words seemed to gain meaning as your voices joined together, both looking forward but focused fully on each other.
To keep me warm when Mondays and Tuesdays grow cold
Love for all my life to have and to hold
Oh and I want a Sunday kind of love
Before you knew it, you had arrived. It was as if the bubble that had protected you from the reality of the situation had popped, leaving you exposed to the harsh world that lay waiting for you. Spencer reached out and squeezed your hand, silently reassuring you of his presence, his support, unwavering as you faced the night together.
Nodding slightly, you let go of his hand and stepped out of the car. Spencer walked beside you to the entrance of the church, close enough that you could feel his body heat. As you got closer, you groaned internally at the sight of your mother.
A fake smile stretched across her lips, nodding at a woman whose outfit was so brightly colored you nearly had to look away from the glare. Her smile dropped for a split second when she saw you, but quickly returned with twice the artificial sweetness as before. She called out your name, voice straining with the effort it took to sound happy to see you.
“This can’t be the boy you’ve been seeing! Much more handsome than I expected, how much did he cost you? Just kidding, of course.” Her laugh was somehow faker than her smile. You saw Spencer tense up beside you, and opened your mouth to correct her. She wouldn’t openly admit it, but you were sure your mother would be smug about the fact you and Spencer were just friends.
Before you could say anything, Spencer’s next words sent you reeling.
“Actually, I’m her boyfriend. Glad to finally meet you.” He said as politely as he could, though you could tell he disliked her already. Spencer had never had much patience for people who made jokes at others’ expense.
You were still processing what he’d just said when his arm wrapped around you, gripping your waist. The feeling of his hands on your body was almost too much for you, and you struggled to pay attention as your mother smiled and made smalltalk with Spencer that walked the line between passive aggressiveness and outright hostility.
You finally registered what was happening when your mother made some excuse to leave, off to emotionally torture a new victim. Your head whipped to face Spencer, your mouth hanging open, confusion written on your face.
“Why did you-” you began, interrupted by Spencer’s panicked words laced with regret.
“I’m so sorry, I know we didn’t plan on pretending to be a couple tonight, but she just seemed so smug about it and I wasn’t thinking clearly and I just-” he rushed out. Now it was your turn to cut him off.
“Spencer, thank you. I’m not mad, I promise.” You leaned into his chest, the arm still wrapped around you tightening. “I guess we’ll just have to pretend we’re dating for the rest of tonight, though.”
The two of you slowly made your way into the church, stopping a few times to chat with relatives who called out to you. Everyone was charmed by Spencer, who played the part of your boyfriend remarkably well. You found seats on the right, farthest from the aisle in an attempt to limit your interaction with other guests. Sitting down, you remembered how uncomfortable church pews were, the hours you’d spent in mass with your family all coming back to you now.
Looking around, however, you were reminded of what had gotten you through it. The stained glass windows that surrounded you created a kaleidoscope in your field of vision, capturing your attention for long enough to forget why you had been uncomfortable in the first place. You looked back at Spencer to find him already looking at you, sending a small blush to your cheeks.
“Did you know that stained glass was originally used in Catholic churches to tell stories from the Bible visually for the benefit of illiterate churchgoers? During the English Reformation, many stained glass windows were smashed and destroyed as part of the 1547 Injunctions against images. In fact, all images in churches were ordered to be removed. If it weren’t for that period in history, more stained glass would likely have- sorry, I’m doing it again.” Spencer’s eyes were cast down at the floor, only to shoot back up to your face when he felt your hand on his.
“I like listening to you. Why did they want to destroy all the images in churches?” You asked, leaving Spencer speechless for a second, seemingly unable to process your request for him to continue his rambling. With a small smile, he continued to explain the importance of the English Reformation to religious art as you watched him adoringly.
The ceremony started all too soon, pulling your attention to the front of the church. As you and Spencer listened to the seemingly endless stream of anecdotes about love and life that the pastor had clearly spent years reciting, your eyes started to glaze over. You pushed thoughts about marriage and family and religion out of your mind, preferring emptiness. Your mind didn’t stay blank for long, though.
Apparently Spencer had noticed your change in mood, because he brought his hand to rest on your thigh in a comforting gesture of solidarity. Unfortunately, you were unable to respond in any way, overwhelmed by the feeling of his hand flattened against the satin fabric of your dress.  His thumb beginning to rub small circles into your skin, you felt your heart rate quicken. The warmth he brought to your thigh began to spread through your body, suddenly finding the church unbearably hot.
Spencer seemed unaffected by the room’s sudden warming, keeping his gaze locked on the happy couple. You took a shaky breath and tried to calm yourself down, reminding yourself that you were overreacting to what was likely a completely platonic display of affection. The ceremony seemed to drag on for hours, but that might have had something to do with the constant effort it took to mask the desire and panic that Spencer’s touch had ignited in you.
You were broken from your trance of concentration by the feeling of his hand inching higher on your leg. Whipping your head around to face him, his gaze remained fixed on the pastor, pressing his lips together to hide a smirk. Your breath caught in your throat as you felt Spencer’s hand slowly make its way up your thigh, paralyzed by shock and desperation. His grip tightened as he glanced at your face, reading your reaction to his touch. Before you had a chance to respond, it was withdrawn, the world around you coming back into focus as everyone began to clap. The ceremony was over.
When you went to stand up after the recessional, you nearly stumbled on your weak legs. Spencer stabilized you, guiding you through the pews and through the hallways with his hand on your lower back. As you followed the crowd to the banquet hall, the gears in your mind were turning slower than usual, as if they had rusted in the time you hadn’t allowed them to work through the idea of Spencer returning your feelings. Finding your seats, you and Spencer were faced with one of the greatest challenges of your night: extended conversation with your family and their similarly judgemental friends.
The overlapping chatter of so many people at once was clearly bothering Spencer, but he stuck it out for your sake. You felt a tug in your chest at the thought of the effort it must be taking for him to stay in such an uncomfortable situation. He played his part beautifully, though, responding to the borderline offensive questions directed at you politely but firmly, protecting you from their attacks. Your sister would usually have led the onslaught, but thankfully she was preoccupied yelling at the photographer for some suggestion she’d taken as a personal slight.
When Spencer struggled to answer questions about your “relationship”, you took over. He had never been a good liar, and while you loved that about him, you knew it could blow your cover if you allowed him to continue.
In your story, the two of you still worked at the BAU, having started dating a few months after you joined. You threw in small details from your countless daydreams, centering them around real events so that the tale was completely believable. Maybe too believable, you worried, feeling Spencer’s eyes on you as you talked. Under the protection of a lie, you had finally been free to speak the truth, pouring a year’s worth of pining and affection into your words as you concocted a love story you wished was real.
You heard a band start to play, a bluesy vocalist at the center of the ensemble. The music filled the hall as the newlyweds rose for their first dance. A small crowd gathered around the pair as they moved in synchrony, every step practiced and planned. A few songs later, many couples were swaying together, tonight’s celebration of love bringing out the romantic in most.
You turned to Spencer, nodding your head at the band. “We should probably dance for a song or two, just for appearance’s sake.” Spencer looked uncomfortable, but nodded and followed you closer to the source of the music.
Raising your hand to his shoulder while his landed on your hip, you felt a warmth spread through you as you joined hands. Fingers intertwining, you began to move along with the slow song that had been playing, stumbling at first but moving more smoothly as time went on. You had no idea how many songs passed while the two of you swayed, apprehension and desire swirling in the air between you. It took a second for you to notice it, but as soon as you did, Spencer’s small smile told you he had as well.
The smooth vocals of the singer sounded even more lovely on Etta James’s familiar melody, filling you with an intense emotion you couldn’t put words to.
I want a Sunday kind of love
A love to last past Saturday night
And I'd like to know it's more than love at first sight
And I want a Sunday kind of love
The feeling in your chest grew as you looked into Spencer’s eyes as the song continued, your chest threatening to burst with whatever magical dust you’d inhaled from the shared breath between your faces. Wrapping your arms around his neck and resting your head on his shoulder, you were overcome with a feeling of safety and contentment as he returned your embrace. You swayed together as you began to ponder the cliches you’d always despised, begrudgingly admitting that you now understood the sentiment that nothing in the world mattered but the two of you.
As the song ended, you gathered up all the courage you had, and spoke before your mind could think through the possible negative outcomes of what you were suggesting.
“I need to tell you something,” you started. You felt his grip on you tighten, as if afraid what you would say next would take him from you, but he let you continue. “I think I love you, Spencer.”
He didn’t respond, but you felt him pull away from you. You felt cold without the contact, but it was nothing compared to the loss you felt in your chest as you realized what you’d done. He didn’t feel the same way.
You opened your mouth to apologize, to try to undo the damage you’d done, but before you could say anything he was dragging you toward a hallway. Overcome with confusion and fear of losing him, you didn’t realize where you were going until Spencer opened the door to the single-use bathroom and pulled you inside.
“Spence-” you began, the rest of whatever you had been about to say swallowed by Spencer’s lips as they moved against yours with urgency, his hands coming to cup your face gently. You didn’t hesitate to kiss him back, the coldness you’d felt replaced by the warmest light filling your chest.
Your hands found his hair, pulling him closer to you as you tried to eliminate any space left between your bodies. A frantic mess of hands and lips exploring any exposed skin, you stumbled backwards with the force of Spencer’s kiss, hearing the door lock as your back hit the cold wood. Your hands slipped under his suit jacket, moaning at the feeling of his firm body under your hands. He shrugged it off completely, allowing the jacket to fall on the floor, his germophobia trumped by his need to feel your warmth.
You moaned into his mouth as his hands wandered your body, leaving goosebumps in his wake. As the kiss became more heated, you noticed that he seemed to withdraw whenever he noticed his touch had gotten rougher, clearly holding back so he wouldn’t hurt you. You smiled into the kiss at the care he showed for you, but your desire to see him fully let go was too strong to allow it to continue. You weren’t sure exactly what he was willing to do, but you took your second biggest risk of the night, showing him what you wanted.
Finding his hand on your body, you laced your fingers between his, kissing him sweetly before pulling away with an innocent look on your face. Spencer stared down at you, confusion clear on his face. You brought his hand up to your mouth, kissing the back of it before moving your hand to his wrist. He watched you intently, unsure what you were doing. Staring up at him with an angelic smile, you brought his hand to your neck, his fingers curling around it instinctively.
As he realized what you were asking of him, his eyes darkened and his grip around your neck tightened. “This is what you wanted, huh?” He spoke lowly, a small smirk forming on his lips. “So needy for me. Would’ve let me fuck you in front of all those people back there, practically shaking just from my hand on your thigh.”
You whimpered, turned on beyond belief by this new side of Spencer. His smirk widened at your reaction to his words, pressing his body against yours, his hardness pressing into you.
“Feel that? Feel what you do to me?” He growled. “Let me show you how I deal with pretty little whores like you.” He stepped away from you, eyes hungrily raking over your body as he began to unbuckle his belt. You just stood there, watching his hands as your mind flashed back to all the times you’d imagined this happening. Somehow this was even better than your wildest imagination had been able to conjure.
“What are you waiting for? Get on your knees” He spat out. The words shot straight to your core, and without hesitation you dropped to your knees in front of him. You watched as he pulled the belt from its loops, but frowned in confusion when he didn’t discard it. He walked around behind you, grabbing each of your wrists and pulling them together. Oh. When he was sure the belt wasn’t too tight, he whispered in your ear how pretty you looked tied up for him, your whimper at the words causing him to let out a dark chuckle.
He returned to the front of you, leaning down to toy with your bottom lip. “Show me you deserve to suck my cock, princess.” He instructed, slipping his thumb into your mouth. You moaned around his finger at that, and instinctively began sucking on the digit. You hollowed your cheeks around it, running your tongue along the length of his thumb before pulling back to swirl your tongue around the tip. He must have approved of your demonstration, because he removed his thumb, pulling down the clothing restricting him in one motion.
Your eyes widened at his size, his smirk growing when you leaned forward instinctively to take him into your mouth. When he grabbed your hair to stop you, you looked up at him in confusion.
“Good girls ask for permission.” Your eyes fluttered shut at that, wanting nothing more than to be good for him.
“Please, let me suck you off, I want you in my mouth,” you begged. He seemed pleased, his hand still in your hair pulling you forward. When your lips wrapped around his cock the hand on your head pushed you down roughly, making you take all of him into your mouth, the tip pressing hard against the back of your throat. You moaned through the gag, your panties likely soaked by now from your arousal at his dominance.
As he began to fuck your throat, you wrapped your lips around him tightly, timing your breaths so you wouldn’t have to stop for air. Words of praise mixed with degradation fell from his lips as he worked your mouth on him. Tears pricked at your eyes at the feeling of him against your throat, spilling over as he continued his ruthless pace.
When he pulled you off of him, a dark smile appeared on Spencer’s face at your disheveled state. He pulled you up so you were standing before him, hands still bound behind your back. He stepped back to admire you.
“Look at you, such a mess for me. What do you want, pretty girl?” He asked, voice still commanding but much softer now, genuinely checking in with you.
“I want you, please, need it so bad,” you practically moaned. He moved forward to meet your mouth with his, one hand coming to rest around your throat while the other gripped your hair, fully in control of your movements. He pulled your hair back, breaking the kiss as he tilted your head up to look him in the eyes.
“Jump.” He commanded. You didn’t hesitate, wrapping your legs around him as he walked you over to the sink, setting you down on the cold porcelain. His mouth rejoined with yours the second you felt the bowl of the sink digging into you. As Spencer’s hands roamed your body, he lost patience with your dress, pulling it down so your tits spilled out of the top. You moaned as he took one nipple into his mouth, a skilled hand toying with the other. His other hand lowered to the hem of your dress, pushing it up to gain full access to you.
Spencer moaned against your chest as he felt the dampness of your panties, soaked all the way through before he had even started to pleasure you. His fingers ran up and down over the wet fabric, applying pressure over your clit that sent your eyes rolling back. You made a noise of complaint at the loss of contact when he withdrew his hand, but were quickly silenced by a hand over your mouth.
“You’ll take what I give you, slut.” Spencer gritted out, tearing your panties off with the last word. His hand came up to your entrance, teasing you as his fingers ran up and down your slit. Gathering your wetness, he moved up to your clit, rubbing circles that left you moaning uncontrollably into his hand. “Can you snap for me, baby?” He asked. You were confused, but you did anyway. “Good girl. That’s your safeword for when you can’t talk.”
Before you could read too much into the statement, he plunged a finger deep into you, causing you to arch your back into him. Your moans still muffled by his hand, he set a brutal pace, adding another finger when he felt you start to clench around him. Tightening his hand over your mouth and nose, he cut off your breath as you approached your peak, your eyes glazing over with pleasure. The high of the lack of oxygen along with the haze that came with this level of submission left you fully pliant, his to play with how he wanted.
Right as your lungs began to burn, your orgasm shook your body, and Spencer let go at that exact moment. The relief of oxygen once again flooding your lungs added on to the euphoria that overtook you, your body shaking as you came down from your high.
You didn’t have much time to recover, as you were brought back to reality with the sensation of the tip of Spencer’s cock teasing your slit. The overstimulation shook you, but with every second your need to feel him inside of you grew stronger. Your whimpers turned into pleas, and in your desperate state you didnt realize what you were saying until it was too late.
“What was that?” Spencer asked, withdrawing completely.
“I-I’m sorry, it was an accident, I didn’t mean to, I’ll never-” you were interrupted by an unexpected demand.
“Say it again.”
“What?”
“Say. It. Again.” Spencer gritted out, his eyes darkening with each word.
“Please fuck me, daddy.” You said shakily.
A look of satisfaction came over Spencer’s face as he slammed into you without warning, setting a rough pace. You began to chant his new title, and his hand came up to choke you, fingers pressing into your carotid arteries just beneath your jaw. He wasn’t putting any pressure on your windpipe, but your lightheadedness from the reduced blood flow made it feel harder to breathe, the feeling of being owned by the man you loved only intensifying your pleasure.
Spencer towered over you as he continued his assault, his other hand coming up to muffle your moans by allowing you to suck on his fingers. When he withdrew them to pay attention to your body elsewhere, he was confused to see you stick out your tongue. When the wave of understanding washed over him, he couldn’t hold back his smile. Bringing his hand up to trace your cheek, he looked at you lovingly before spitting in your mouth, watching in awe as you eagerly swallowed and met him with an innocent smile that contrasted beautifully with your actions.
As you began to feel the knot in your stomach building again, Spencer increased his pace. Bringing one of his fingers to your clit, Spencer knew you were nearing the edge, and fast. “Come for me, pretty girl.” He ordered.
You obliged, Spencer’s kiss swallowing the moans spilling from your mouth. He followed soon after, sent into ecstasy by the image and sensation of you coming apart under him. As he filled you up, you felt a bliss that you’d never experienced before, using your lips to show him how he’d affected you as he fucked you through both of your orgasms. When you eventually parted, it was quiet for a moment.
As Spencer helped you off the sink and removed the belt from your wrists, massaging the tender skin, you began to laugh. It started out as a small giggle, but it soon turned into a full belly laugh, bringing tears to your eyes. Spencer was taken aback at first, but son couldn’t help but join you. You both laughed until your stomachs hurt, and when you could finally speak again your first words were “we just had sex in a church bathroom.”
Holding back another bout of laughter, Spencer responded, “I have to say, this wasn’t how I imagined tonight going.” He took a step towards you, arms lacing around your waist. “I’m not complaining, though.”
You pulled him down to meet him in a kiss, your teeth clacking as neither of you could hold back your smiles. When you broke apart, Spencer’s forehead stayed pressed against yours. “I love you,” he said quietly, “I have for a long time now. I just never thought you would feel the same way.”
You couldn’t hold back the happy tears that formed in the corners of your eyes.  Wordlessly, you pulled him into a hug, your bodies coming together like two pieces of a puzzle that had finally been connected. You stayed there for a while, just feeling each other breathe.
In a few minutes, you’d sneak out the back door of the church. In a few minutes, you’d leave the room with no need for lies to excuse your shared affection. In a few minutes, you’d have to deal with the paperwork that Hotch would inevitably require. But for these last few minutes, all you had to do was hold each other. For now, you were just two people in love, and that was enough.

A/N: This is the first fic I'm posting for my summer celebration and it was actually written for boxofbonesfic's Hot Girl Summer Challenge. Not as um...descriptive as I'd intended on making it but I like it. Enjoy.
Word count: 3544
***
The wedding was beautiful, even you had to admit that. It was a relatively simple affair as these things went, though you were certain your uncle had spent several thousands on the flowers that seemed to dot every surface of the grounds of his estate. At least he’d kept your cousin from having a large church wedding this time. There was only so many times that was acceptable anyway, right?
A sigh slid from your lips and you sipped at your drink. You never should have come to this wedding. You weren’t in the mood for it. No, you should have made up an excuse about being sick and stayed home. The only reason you hadn’t was the fact you had no desire to listen to your mother bitch at you for the next six months for missing a family event. Just the thought had you rolling your eyes.
You’d actually been looking forward to the wedding until last week. That’s when you discovered your boyfriends were going on a mission and would not be back in time to accompany you. Not only did you hate going to weddings alone, but you’d already gone through the ordeal of explaining to your aunt why you need a plus two instead of a plus one. And she certainly hadn’t kept that information to herself. Half the damn day had been spent answering questions about your relationship from nosy family members.
Speaking of…Your cousin Natalie sat down in one of the empty chairs that flanked you. She smirked and sipped at her champagne. “So, where are your dates, Y/N?”
You resisted the urge to roll your eyes again. Too much more of that and you’d have a raging migraine. Instead, you kept your gaze on the dance floor and took another sip of your drink. “They had to work.”
“I just find it interesting that you all but beg mother for an extra seat and here they both are. Empty.” She eyed you, waiting for a reaction you had no intention of giving her. “I mean, why lie? It’s kind of pathetic.”
You finally turned your head to her. “Shouldn’t you be doing something wedding-ish? You are the maid of honor, aren’t you? Oh, that’s right, you aren’t in the wedding party, are you?” You sucked a breath through your teeth in mock sympathy. “Sorry.”
There was certain to be a reason why Natalie wasn’t part of her only sisters third wedding, but you didn’t care beyond the fact it was sure to be a sore spot. Frankly, Natalie had always been a bitch, even when you were children. Though, unlucky in the marriage department, her sister Sally had always been your preferred cousin. Maybe Sally had finally gotten tired of dealing with her sister’s shit.
Natalie narrowed her eyes and leaned toward you. “I don’t believe you could get one man to put up with you, let alone two. No one does. We actually had a pool going over whether either of them would show up. And if they did, whether they’d leave with you since you’d probably paid them to be here. I mean, most people just make up one boyfriend. Two really takes the cake. You never could stand not being the center of attention.”
The irony wasn’t lost you that most of your family had no idea you worked with the Avengers. Nor had you mentioned the names of those two boyfriends of yours. Real attention seeker you were. You chanced a glance at your phone to check the time. You had at least another hour before you could leave without a lecture from your mother. You also had zero messages from your boys. Hopefully, that meant they were taking care of business and would be home soon.
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” your cousin started whisper yelling from beside you as she froze in her chair. Her eyes were wide and slightly crazed.
Your brow furrowed. “What the hell is wrong with you?” Even as you waited for an answer, your trained ear picked up murmurs beginning amongst the other guests.
When you went to look over your shoulder, Natalie gripped your hand. “Don’t turn around,” she said through clenched teeth. When you went to do it anyway, she snapped again. “Don’t. They’ll see you staring.”
“Who?” Your tone was clipped as irritation crawled through you.
“Steve Rogers and James Barnes just walked in,” she hissed, her gaze locked on them. So apparently she was allowed to stare but you weren’t. By this point, everyone else would be staring as well. The boys were used to it.
You snatched your hand away from your cousin and spun in your seat. As soon as you saw them, a smile covered your face. They had been so certain they wouldn’t be back in time. You knew they’d pushed themselves to be here for you. You ran your gaze over them, taking in the rare sight of them in suits. Even though you’d helped them pick them out, you still licked your lips at the sight.
Steve wore a beautiful bright blue suit that you knew brought out his eyes even though they were currently hidden behind sunglasses. Buck’s suit looked light blue but it was actually a thin blue pin stripe. Both of them looked incredible as always, but you always got a little thrill seeing them dressed up. Of course, that feeling was mutual.
They hadn’t seen you yet, but they were scanning the crowd as they moved across the vast grounds of your uncle’s estate. When your uncle moved to greet them, you stood as well.
Natalie grabbed at your arm. “What are you doing? You’re going to embarrass me.”
Yeah, she didn’t need any help with that. You shook her off and started toward your men. Both of them immediately locked onto your presence and wide smiles greeted you. Your uncle got to them before you could. Steve shifted his attention to speak with him, but Buck’s attention was 100% on you. His gaze trailed over you from head to toe and his eyes darkened.
“We’re extremely honored that you’re here. How did you hear about the wedding?” you heard your uncle ask. He was one of the politer members of your family.
“They’re with me, Uncle Frank,” you said as soon as you were close enough to be heard without raising your voice. “Sorry they’re late. They were working.”
Frank turned to you, his mouth slightly agape and his brows lifted. “These are the dates Margie wouldn’t stop going on about?” Margie was his wife and the aunt you had to beg for the extra seat.
You hummed in agreement.
“Well, I certainly hope so or this is going to turn awkward in a moment,” Bucky said with a lopsided grin. He opened his arms in invitation and you stepped into them. “Missed you, doll.”
You nuzzled against his chest briefly, careful not to transfer your makeup to his shirt. “I missed you, too. So much. I’m glad you’re home.”
There was a tug on your arm and you were pulled into Steve’s embrace. He pressed a kiss to your temple. “Hey, baby.”
“Hey, soldier.” You turned to look at your uncle who was still staring in stunned silence. “Steve, Bucky, this is my Uncle Frank. Father of the bride.”
Both of your boys shook his hand and thanked him for allowing them to come. He hurried back to his table, undoubtedly to announce this strange turn of events. You fell into step with your boyfriends, taking their hands in yours while you walked in the middle. You led them over to your table to find Natalie still in Bucky’s seat.
“Natalie,” you said to get her attention. When she continued to gape at the two men you said her name again.
She smiled at you as if you were her favorite person in the world certain there was an introduction in her future. “Yes, cousin?”
“You’re in his seat.”
She blinked at you for a second before her face twisted in anger. She scrambled from the chair and stormed back to her table with a toss of her head. Steve and Buck chuckled as they took their seats on either side of you. They slid their chairs as close to you as they could get. “Are you two hungry? We already had dinner but I could find you something.”
Bucky squeezed your thigh. “We ate. Don’t worry about us, sweetheart.”
“I’m glad you two made it,” your mother’s voice caught your attention and you turned to find her standing next to Steve. He stood to greet her and you leaned against Bucky, knowing he wouldn’t care to do the same. “If I had to listen to one more person say she made you up I was going to scream,” she admitted as she hugged Steve. That earned another low chuckle from Bucky.
“Mrs. Y/L/N, it’s good to see you again,” Steve said, managing to sound sincere. Not that he disliked your mother, but they’d just returned from a mission. All they wanted to do was stay home for a couple of days and destress. But they’d come here for you and they would be on their best behavior.
“We won’t be staying long, mom. They just got home,” you informed her and braced yourself for an argument.
Instead, she nodded. “Of course, sweetheart. Just make sure to introduce them to Sally before you leave.”
You groaned. “Can’t I just do it at her next wedding?”
“Y/N!” she snapped but you caught the twitch at the corner of her lips.
Bucky snorted a laugh beside you while Steve shot you a chastising look. You smiled. “I will, momma.”
She left and Bucky turned to speak in your ear as Steve sat back down. “We don’t have to leave, baby girl.” The nickname shot a thrill up your spine. “I love weddings. The food. The dancing. The clothes. Like this little number you have on. I really love this dress, doll.” You wore a white sundress with tiny blue flowers on it to match their suits that fell a few inches above your knees. It was the first time either of them had seen it.
Steve’s arm settled across the back of your chair and his fingers played with your hair. “Yeah, that dress is something special. It might be a bit too short, though,” he said without glancing at you. Instead, he seemed to be keeping an eye on the crowd around you.
“It’s not too short.” You loved the dress and thought it was perfect.
“Yeah, Stevie. If anything, it’s not short enough.” Bucky’s fingers dragged your dress up your thigh, bunching it up in his hand as he went.
“What are you doing, Barnes?” you hissed.
“I told you I missed you, doll. I want to show you how much.”
You placed a hand on his, stopping his movement. “You can’t be serious.”
“Of course, we are. We talked about it all the way home,” Steve answered. He lowered his mouth to speak in your ear. “Talked about how we wanted to please you in front of everyone. With everyone watching because you know their eyes are glued to our table trying to figure out how we managed to land a beautiful gal like you.”
You snorted a laugh that cut off in a gasp as Bucky pulled your dress further up your thigh. “I don’t think that’s what they’re thinking, Steve.”
Bucky kissed the patch of skin behind your ear. “How come he gets Steve and I got Barnes?”
“He’s not the one actively trying to feel me up at my cousin’s wedding.” Your eyes slipped closed as his fingers brushed your inner thigh. Sweat beaded your skin and you wondered if you could blame it on the heat even though it was ten degrees cooler than it had been earlier.
“But it was all his idea,” Buck whispered.
Your eyes flew open to shoot a glare at the blond’s head. “Steven Grant Rogers, What would your mother say?”
Buck laughed, drawing the attention of some of the few people that weren’t already staring. “She’d probably say, ‘good going, Stevie’. She would have loved you.”
“Would—” All ability to finish your sentence or to have a rational thought fled from you when he pushed your panties aside and ran his fingers through your folds. Fuck.
“She’s already soaking wet for us, Steve. Such a good girl,” Bucky cooed.
Steve’s hand fisted on the back of your chair as he glanced around again. “I was wrong. I don’t have the patience for this. I need to be buried in her.” He slid his sunglasses off and put them in the inside pocket of his jacket. He turned to face you, blue eyes burning into you. “You have exactly two minutes to find us someplace private or we’re going to finger fuck you right here until you scream. Your choice, princess.”
In less than a minute, you’d sent a text on your phone and jumped to your feet. Taking their hands in yours, you dragged them toward the house. You pulled them through the large home until you reached a familiar door on the main level. Opening it, you shoved the super soldiers inside. You locked the door behind you and turned to find them already loosening their ties.
“We don’t have time for that,” you argued with a wave of your hands. “I told Uncle Frank we were borrowing his office for an important phone call. We have twenty minutes tops.”
Bucky groaned. “I wanted to take my time with you. I missed you,” he nearly whined.
The corner of your mouth kicked up. “We can take all the time you want later, baby. Right now, just fuck me.” That had him groaning again, an entirely different sound this time.
Steve, however, wasn’t wasting any time. He grabbed a cushion from the couch and tossed it on the floor. “All fours, princess.” He was already undoing his belt by the time you dropped to your knees. He moved behind you and pushed your dress up to give himself a clear view of your ass. He ran his hand over it before giving you a light swat. The mild sting was still enough to have you shifting.
“These have got to go,” he said tugging on the side of your panties. “Buck?”
You glanced up to see Bucky grin as he pulled out a knife and handed it to Steve. He traced your spine with the back of the blade causing you to hiss and arch your back. The sensation only doubled when he moved from cloth to bare skin. The cold steel on your flesh sent tremors through you but you weren’t scared. Far from it. “I think she likes that, Stevie,” Bucky said, a teasing lilt in his voice. “We’ll have to remember that.”
Steve merely hummed before slicing through both sides of your panties and pulling them off as he handed the knife back to his friend. His hand immediately cupped you and his fingers dipped into your soaking wet folds. “Christ, Y/N. I hope you’re ready for me, baby.”
The head of his cock nudged your entrance as if asking for permission but that only lasted a moment. A second later, Steve surged forward filling you with his length. You moaned at the familiar sensation and clawed at the carpet. He paused, giving you time to adjust then he was thrusting into you in long, slow strokes. “Don’t tease,” you ordered.
Steve laughed and increased his speed. When you groaned, Bucky was there rubbing the tip of his cock across your lips. You opened your mouth and sucked at him greedily, needing to taste him while Steve railed you from behind. Only when you had both of them inside of you did you feel complete. Whole. Whatever the fuck was wrong with you, you hoped there was no cure. You would gladly die like this.
The feeling of both of them moving in and out had a perfectly sinful, wanton moan coming from you. The vibration ran along the length of Bucky’s cock and he grunted. His fingers tightened their hold in your hair and his speed increased. Steve mirrored his pace and it didn’t take long for the office to fill with lurid grunts and the sweaty, sweet smell of sex.
Soon, you were so lost in sensation you became little more than a vessel for them to use as you climbed to your peak. Their rhythm stuttered and you knew they were close. You clenched your walls around Steve and were rewarded with a hiss and his grip on your hips tightening. At the same time, you sucked harder on Bucky and ran your tongue along the underside of his cock. “Fuck,” he bit out. “I’m close. Cum, baby girl. Come on.”
Steve’s fingers found your clit. Two seconds later you were screaming around the cock in your mouth as your cunt clutched greedily at the one in your pussy. Fuck. Bucky came next, his load shooting into your mouth and down your throat. As you swallowed his offering, Steve filled you with his cum. You felt it leak around him and drip to the floor.
They pulled out of you at the same time and you collapsed to your side. “Holy shit,” you said between pants causing your boys to laugh.
“Holy shit’s right. Damn,” Bucky agreed. Your eyes followed his movements as he tucked himself back into his pants and put himself to rights. Before you could turn to Steve, you felt fabric between your legs cleaning you up.
A glance showed him wiping away his cum with the remnants of your panties. He gave you a wicked grin. “Can’t have you leaking all over your cousin’s wedding, now can we?”
Your face heated as you thought about all the times they’d made you walk around with their cum leaking out of you. Apparently, that wasn’t appropriate for a wedding but was fine everywhere else. Steve stood and pulled his pants up before doing up his belt. He held out a hand to you. “Let’s get you fixed up, sweetheart.”
They’d barely done anything and looked like they had when you walked into the room. You, on the other hand, probably looked like you’d gone a couple of rounds with a rabid raccoon. Stupid men. Steve made sure your dress was laying correctly so everything was covered while Bucky did the same thing behind you. They both fiddled with your hair for a moment before declaring you gorgeous.
You narrowed your gaze at them, not buying it for a moment. The three of you quickly put the office to rights. There was nothing you could do about the smell of sex in the air but hopefully it would dissipate before your uncle needed to use it.
“Seriously, baby girl. You look fantastic,” Buck insisted when he noticed you fidgeting.
“Yeah, but you guys like it when I look freshly fucked,” you said as you opened the door. There was a mirror in the hallway you used to check your appearance. You actually didn’t look that bad, but you definitely looked a little wild. You shrugged. Honestly, you didn’t care. “All right, we’re saying hello to the bride, then we’re leaving.”
“No argument here.” Steve took your hand in his and Buck did the same thing on the other side.
When the three of you made it outside, you headed straight for the head table. “Sally, this is Steve and Bucky. Boys, this is my cousin Sally and her new husband Ben.”
“Lovely to meet you,” Steve greeted with a smile. Sally launched herself at him and wrapped him in a hug.
“I can’t believe you came to my wedding,” she squealed before letting go of him to hug Bucky. His eyes begged you to help him but you just smiled. Sally was a bit flighty but she was good people.
She hugged you last. “You should have told me, Y/N. I would have sat you closer to the front.”
“It’s okay, Sally. We have to go. Congratulations,” you said then let her go. When you did, you found that most of the family had come to get introductions or say their farewells. Nicole tried to go in for a hug, but Steve subtly made sure it was nothing more than a handshake. The fact you didn’t introduce her was enough to tell them she wasn’t the kind of person they wanted to know.
When she tried to hug Bucky, you intercepted and hugged her instead. “It was good seeing you, Nicole.”
“You have some explaining to do,” she said in a low voice as she hugged you tighter than necessary. When she released you, she continued to stand by you.
You watched Bucky and Steve say goodbye to your mother and uncle before they turned to you. You held up a finger to tell them you’d be right with them and leaned sideways to get closer to your cousin. “So, just out of curiosity, did anyone in the pool have them fucking me during the reception?”

Bucky’s face flushes pink when he steps through the door, positioned underneath the sign that reads “GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS” in bright, flashing letters. It’s filled with cigarette smoke and perfume, and there are a few small stages that entertain poles for dancing from floor to ceiling. An unfamiliar song plays while the girls—young, surely younger than Bucky—twirl themselves around the slippery metal expertly.
“You made it, Barnes.” Morita hits his back, covered by his uniform, and chuckles. “Take a seat. I’ll get drinks.” He waits for the rest of the guys to file in—Steve, Dugan, Falsworth, Jones, and Dernier—and follows their lead.
They’re all grown, married for ten years, fathers of toddlers and elementary school students. They’ve been to clubs like this before; to get away from their wives, who they resent for making them work to support the children that they trapped them with. The guys tell him all about how women are only trouble, with their red lips and soft skin.
Bucky married you in early January, and was shipped off to Germany at the end of February, when the tree branches still hung low with the weight of the snow that Brooklyn fosters every winter. He wishes he was home during the spring, to wake up to the chirping birds that nest outside of your bedroom window, and to take day-trips to the city for picnics or bike rides. He doesn’t want to resent you.
You wrote home last week and told him how you’ve fallen pregnant—four months along, because he’s not been home since then—and how you want nothing more than for him to return to you safely. Right now, he wants nothing more than a whiskey on the rocks.
He sits in a chair in front of a stage on which a tall blonde is moving in sync with the music. She’s elegant, and charming, and naked. Well, not really, but much more naked than any woman has ever been in front of him, with the exception of you. All of the other girls he’s been with just pulled up their skirts and unhooked a few buttons of their tops.
She smiles at him, blows a kiss, bends forward enough so he can see straight down her bra. He shoves his hand in his right pocket, where he has a stack of ones that was given to him by Dugan—“as an early baby shower gift,” he explained. He folds one of the crisp bills in half and holds it between his fingers, waiting nervously for when the right time might be to give it to her.
“Go on, give it to her.” Morita urges him, hitting his shoulder. Bucky swallows hard and leans forward, locking eyes with the woman while he slips the dollar underneath the strap of her underwear. She smiles at him flirtatiously, and he nearly forgets that that’s her job.
Other girls walk around the club in clothes that just barely preserve their modesty, running their hands over the shoulders and hair of the men that they pass—mostly soldiers who’ve been granted permission to leave base for the night—and shooting winks at others across the room. Some have scarves draped across their back and down their arms, and others wear sheer robes or slip dresses, accompanied by bright red lipstick and bold lines drawn onto their eyelids. Their nails are painted delicate nude colors or reds to match their makeup, mostly, but some opt for a light pink, or a deep purple.
He looks around him and watches his friends tap shoulders to whisper dirty things about the women around them into each other’s ears, and catches Falsworth passing Steve a cigarette. He reaches his hand out and gestures in such a way that earns him a cigarette, and even a match. He lights it between his teeth and sucks on the end of the cigarette, holding the flame to the other end and exhaling smoke when it catches, flicking the fire out and dropping the charred stick onto the floor.
He pinches it between his index finger and his thumb, which you’ve always told him is such a barbaric way of holding something so fragile. He thinks of you when he breathes in the smoke, and how he’ll now have to climb out the window and onto the fire escape when he wants a cigarette, so that you don’t get sick from it like his mother did when she was pregnant with his sister. He exhales through his nose, and peers back up at the woman on the stage, who is spinning around the sturdy pole with her legs open and her eyes trained on him.
A girl comes up behind him, pushing her hand up his back and to his shoulder, bending to whisper into his ear. “You need a dance?” Her accent is thick, but he likes it.
“Yes! Yes, he needs a dance!” Dugan shouts excitedly, presenting cash to her and patting a blushing Bucky on the back.
She puts her hand under his chin and walks around him, making sure he’s looking up at her the whole time, before she stops and stands behind him, reaching over his shoulders and sliding her hands down the front of his chest. With her mouth beside his ear, she asks his rank.
“Sergeant.” He answers quietly.
“Sergeant what?”
“Barnes.”
She doesn’t answer, only kisses his neck before standing up straight again, making her way to be in front of him. She stands between his parted knees, bracing herself against his thighs while she bends forward so that their noses are only centimeters apart. He can feel her minty breath fan over his chin, and he doesn’t even feel guilty about it, because her hands are the first that have touched him like this in months. His friends are snickering to each other about how he looks like a deer in headlights, but he can barely hear them over how loudly his heart is beating in his own ears. She straddles his lap, rolling her hips forward against him, and invites him to put his hands on her. They stay on her waist, because he’s still a gentleman, if nothing else, while she looks at his eyes and his lips and his neck, and does what he paid her to do; well, what Dugan paid her to do.
She does a couple more moves and it’s over soon enough. He tips her and watches her leave to sit on some other lonely soldier’s lap to remind him of his own wife that waits for him back in America. The girl in front of him is done with her set when he’s ready to pay attention again, and a brunette comes out from behind the curtain for her turn. Her top is red with sequins, and the small panels to cover her bottom half match it, shimmering in the light with her every move. He remembers he has a drink and reaches to pick it up, taking a large sip and wincing at the delicious burn that spreads through his throat and chest.
He thinks of how you phrased the news in your letter, “Oh, James, it’s wonderful!” But it isn’t so wonderful, because he’ll probably die here, in Germany. You’ll get a letter identical to the ones that a few of his friends have already had sent back to the US, one that tells you he’s missing in action, because even if he isn’t lost in a field of other young men, his head will be so badly beaten in that he won’t even have his teeth left to identify him. His brain and his eyes and his tongue will be a stew of meat and blood, and his friends will throw him and the other guys who weren’t so lucky into a mass grave, and that’s where he’ll stay for eternity; sandwiched between two poor bastards who aren’t even cold yet, because nobody he knows has the money to bring him back and give him a real funeral.
He orders another drink and shakes his head in an effort to expel the thoughts from his brain. They seem to fly out of his ear and die upon impact with the floor, because he doesn’t think about you for the rest of the night, until he’s letting the bartender top him off in the bathroom, and not in the way that she’s paid to do.
His eyes roll back into his head and he takes a handful of her hair, because he doesn’t know what else to do with his hands. The lighting is dim and he isn’t entirely sober—neither of them are, which is how they ended up here—but he can see enough of her to know that she’s pretty. Probably nineteen, maybe twenty years old, and she looks just like you, without the pregnancy part. His back is against the wood door of the stall and his pants are around his ankles. She’s on her knees with him in her mouth, her hand at the base while she takes as much as she can. The obscene slurping and sucking noises echo through the bathroom while he bites his lower lip to keep from letting any sounds out.
She didn’t make him pay, which makes him think that she doesn’t do this all the time, but she’s good at it, so he can’t be sure. Maybe she’s married, too. Maybe her husband is worried sick that it’s been fifteen minutes since her shift ended and she isn’t home yet. He really can’t bring himself to care, though. Not with his cock down her throat and an impending orgasm.
It doesn’t take long until he finishes in her mouth. She swallows it and pulls his pants up for him, buttoning his slacks and fastening his belt. She kisses him, but it’s not gentle like yours are. It’s teeth and tongue and hot breath that smells like alcohol, mixing together to form a hot, slobbery storm.
He steps out of the bathroom after she does and finds his friends again. They ask him how it was, touseling his hair and jabbing him in the arm with their fists playfully. He takes a long sip of his drink, sighing before admitting that he loves German women. Maybe even more than American ones.

Chapter One - Tattoos
Sister Margaret’s School for Wayward Children, the place where the bad and ugly went to escape. It had been turned into a bar years ago after the actual school got shut down for child abuse, and this was the main spot mercenaries-for-hire went to get jobs.
At the end of the bar quietly sat Y/N, drinking a bottle of beer. She wore black leggings with a grey guns-n-roses shirt with cut off sleeves, showing off her left tattooed arm. The tattoo had appeared one day out of the blue, stretching from her shoulder down to her fingertips. It covered every inch of skin on her arm and hand, even the palm. It was mostly black and white swirls that looked like smoke with pictures of dog tags, a freight car and some Russian words as well as the numbers seventeen, nine, and one. On her shoulder laid the only color the tattoo had, a maroon star. This was the tattoo that symbolized Y/N’s soulmate, though that didn’t matter to her. She had other things to focus on than finding someone to spend her life with.
Y/N had been hired by an unknown source to steal information from the Avengers, something to do with a James Buchanan Barnes, whoever the hell that is. They were paying her a lot of money to get the information and Y/N couldn’t pass up the amount they offered. Things had been slow for her lately, the world must’ve been running out of scumbags to take care of.
“You want another?”
The bartender known as Weasel broke Y/N’s concentration with the question, making her eyes snap to his face, “Sure. I’m going to need to be a little tipsy to fit in at Stark’s gala. I don’t think walking in there looking like a raging bitch is going to work.” She muttered out to him, sliding her empty beer bottle towards him and caught the filled one that was slid back to her.
“You got invited to the Stark gala?” Weasel asked curiously with wide eyes.
“God no, do I look like a prissy pants woman who’d be invited to something like that?” Y/N replied then took a large gulp of the beer, “I’m sneaking in, got a job to steal some information.”
Weasel shook his head, “Wait. So, you’re going to just walk into the billionaire’s gala full of super persons and just expect to steal information from them?”
Y/N shrugged at him, “Well, yeah. What? You think it’ll be hard?” She asks with a tilt of her head.
Weasel blinked at her, trying to decide if she was being serious, “Nah, should be a cake walk.” He said sarcastically, “All you have to do is get past the billionaire robot man,”
“I think he calls himself Iron Man.” Y/N corrected with a scrunch of her nose
“Iron Man, two super soldiers, some bird dude, two assassins, and whoever else decides to show up. Shouldn’t be hard at all.” Weasel said with a roll of his eyes before walking away, “I’m putting your name on the dead pool!” He called behind his shoulder as he walked.
Y/N rolled her eyes at him, “You must be a groupie to know the whole squad!” She yelled towards him before finishing chugging the rest of the beer. She checks her phone, almost time for the gala. She would have to change into something nice and find someone man’s arm to hang onto so she could sneak in.
——
The soulmate tattoo had appeared on Bucky’s right forearm a days ago. He thought he didn’t have a soulmate since one had never shown up, but then he woke up to a burning on his right arm as the tattoo slowly appeared. It was the queen of hearts playing card with a knife stuck through it surrounded by Marigolds. He stared at his forearm for a moment, wondering why it had shown up now instead of sooner. Something must’ve changed in his and his soulmate’s path that would bring them together. Buck reluctantly pulled on his long sleeved black jacket, having to look nice for Tony’s party. He hated these events, but had just cleaned things up with Stark and wanted to keep on the right path with making his amends and becoming a better person. He walks out of his room with a slight scowl on his face, walking to the elevator and heading down to the main floor where the party was. He quickly found a spot at the end of the bar where he could hide for the rest of the night to drink whiskey and not be bothered.
Y/N had changed into a long, tight black dress and some black heels. The dress had her arms covered so only her hands showed, the left one heavily tattooed. The back of her hand had the number seventeen tattooed on it while the inside of of her palm was just tattooed with what looked like smoke dancing up to her fingertips. She was hanging onto the arm of some man she had just learned the name of, flirting her way to get inside the gala with him. She quickly lost him in the crowed, losing her smile when she departed from him. Y/N scanned the room before spying what she would figure would be an easy target at the bar to take her upstairs. She pulled out lipstick from the small hand held purse she was holding, putting some on her lips careful not to ingest it. It had a paralyzing agent in it that would help her get to the information she needed. She approached the handsome man and introduced herself under a fake name, “I’m Michelle.” She said with a smile to him. Y/N learned his name was Sam and after a little bit of flirting, she was walking to the elevator with him giggling and holding his hand.
Bucky had watched the mystery girl named Michelle approach. He narrowed his eyes at her, something about her was different. Something drew him to her and he couldn’t figure out what. He couldn’t help but feel a slight disappointment and jealousy watching Sam take the woman to the elevator. His stomach turned slightly thinking of Sam touching such a woman and he couldn’t figure out why. He usually didn’t care about who his friends bedded but something was pulling him towards her.
Y/N waiting until the elevator doors shut, turning to Sam and pushing him up against the wall. She slowly pulled on his tie to make him lean towards her and kissed him, smiling slightly as she felt his body slump against her in a paralyzed state before falling to the ground, “Sorry, sweetness. You seemed like a good time.” She told the now paralyzed man on the floor. She quickly slid the dress off, revealing black shorts and a matching black tank top. She had a gun strapped to one thigh and throwing knives on the other. Her heels followed, being kicked to the corner of the elevator. Barefoot was going to have to work, she despised heels. Y/N pulled a queen of hearts playing card out of her bra and placed it on Sam’s shoulder with a smile towards his brown eyes that stared at her widely. When the elevator doors open, Y/N waltzed out of the elevator and towards the nearest lab she could find.
Bucky had enough whiskey that was never enough to get him drunk and watching the guests mingle. Plus he was still irritated that he couldn’t figure out why it bothered him so much that Sam had taken some woman he had never seen before up to his bedroom. He walked to the elevator doors, clicking the button. He froze when he saw Sam on the floor just staring at him with wide eyes and tying to form words from his paralyzed lips. Bucky went in and leaned down, the doors closing behind him, “What happened to you, bird brain?” He muttered out before noticing the red lipstick and the queen of hearts playing card, quickly thinking back to the woman. He picks up the card, freezing as it looked just like the one of his soulmate tattoo before seeing the dress the mystery woman had been wearing on the floor. Returning to his senses when Sam was able to mumble ‘floor three, buck,’ he quickly hit the floor three button, dropping the card to the floor before exiting.
Y/N stood in front of the computer, typing codes to shut down Jarvis’s security system and rerouting the AI whenever it tried to reprogram. She quickly searched through all personnel files, finding the one labeled ‘James Buchanan Barnes- Winter Soldier.’ Y/N pulled a flash drive out of her pocket and plugged it in, downloading the information. Hearing the door behind her open, she grabs a throwing knife from the strap on her right thigh, throwing it with her tattooed hand towards the tall dark haired man that had entered.
Bucky caught the knife with ease, leaning his head back away as the blade passed before he caught it. He kept his eyes on the woman in front of him, studying her. His eyes snaked up the tattooed covered left arm, his eyes widening at the pictures, numbers, and Russian words that painted across her smooth skin in bold black. They were his words, things that were significant to him. Then he saw the red star on her shoulder, staring intently.
Y/N narrowed her eyes at the man, watching him study every inch of her tattoo. She rolled her eyes slightly, grabbing the flash drive and tucking it back in her pocket. Based on the file she just went through, this was James Barnes. Her eyes quickly moved to red hair walking up from behind the man, a smile flashing across Y/N’s features, “Ah, Natalia. I heard you were part of the super squad now. How’d graduation go?” Y/N asked the redheaded woman, her eyebrow twitching upwards for a moment. Y/N knew the woman who now went by Natasha, they trained at the Red Room Academy together. However, Y/N had left before the graduation ceremony, becoming a free-agent assassin and spy for hire.
Natasha rolled her shoulders, ready for a fight, “I was having a nice time at the party, then I find Sam and your card in the elevator.” She said, stepping closer to Y/N until the space had closed to a few feet, “What are you doing here, Y/N? Who are you working for?”
Y/N shrugs slightly at the question, “Don’t know. But they pay really well.” She smiled again before throwing out a punch towards the redhead which was blocked immediately.
Bucky watched the two women throw punches and kicks at each other. Both of them had the same fighting style which made them a pretty even match when it came to fighting. Neither were making good progress in stopping the other. It wasn’t until the rest of the team came up to stand behind Bucky, watching the two fight. Jarvis had alerted them after the flash drive had been unplugged and Y/N had stopped typing in codes to reprogram the AI. Clint and Steve rush passed the frozen figure of Bucky who was just watching Y/N, his eyes locked on her tattooed sleeve. Clint grabbed onto one of Y/N’s arms before being kicked away. Steve was able to wrap his arms behind Y/N, pinning her arms down while Natasha quickly put magnetized cuffs on Y/N’s wrist, pinning her to the closest metal table. Y/N managed to kick Natasha and Steve away, but hadn’t noticed Clint get up. He stuck her in the neck with one of Natasha’s shocking spheres, causing Y/N’s body to seize before going into unconscious.
Natasha took a deep breath and looked over towards Bucky after Y/N was unconscious, “Thanks for the help, Barnes. You were super helpful.”
Steve looked at the unconscious woman, his eyes sliding along the tattoos. He looked to Bucky then back to Y/N, “Oh my god…” He trailed off, knowing immediately what this meant.
Bucky watched Steve observe Y/N’s tattoos before walking closer his eyes locked on the face of Y/N, studying everything about her. It was like colors were brighter when he looked at her and worry melted away from his core. Everything drew him to her, “She’s my soulmate.”
______
“Her name is Y/N Y/L/N.” Natasha began as the whole team stood outside the cell Y/N was in, watching her through the mirrored glass, “She was at The Red Room Academy with me. She was the top of her class, a year older than me. Y/N adopted the name ‘Queen of Hearts,’ a name I helped come up with. I thought it was ironic given that it didn’t seem like she had one. Y/L/N left the academy before she graduated, refusing to kill an innocent man. Last I heard she was doing mercenary work.”
Steve nodded at the information, looking towards Bucky who was just observing Y/N through the mirror, “What was she trying to steal?”
Natasha pulled out the flash drive she had obtained when Y/N was unconscious, “She was stealing information from us. Information of Barnes.” She said, her eyes flickering towards Bucky, “Whoever paid her, wanted to know everything about you, including all the information we know of how you became the Winter Soldier.”

Soulmates
JJK X Reader soulmate AU
Warnings: Minor character death(car crash, only mentioned nothing graphic), Drinking
I don’t know if this is what you (the requester) were going for? this is somehow where I ended up
Everyone in this world has a soulmate. Someone that is meant to complete them and make them feel whole.
Your other half can be identified by the matching birthmark hidden somewhere on their body. There are also a lot of people whose marks are so close to matching that it almost feels like the real thing… almost. Sadly, many don’t ever get to experience the love of their true soulmate, so they settle for the closest they can get.
Jungkook was convinced he was one of the lucky few. Looking at her made his heart feel like it was going to burst. Every time he saw her the world got brighter, the birds started singing a little louder, and his stress nearly melted away entirely … nearly. But at 17 no one is going to pay attention to nearly.
Their birthmark’s matched so closely, each sporting a small puzzle piece on opposite wrists. You wouldn’t even bat an eyelid at the loved-up pair as they walked together hand in hand. And he loved her so completely, and her him, that they never thought to question it. Madly in love until the day she died.
Jungkook spent weeks almost comatose when the news of her car crash reached him. Couldn’t move, eat, sleep. To lose your soulmate so young was said to be a fate worse than never finding them at all. Even after coming through the other side people could tell he wasn’t the same carefree young boy he had been, most likely never would be again. His eyes’ looked far older than his years now, his soft features much more angular.
Three months after her death he resolve to never fall in love again, happy in the knowledge that he got to know her even for such a short amount of time.
….
You met Jungkook at a party. Someone from Uni decided that 24 was the right age for a big birthday bash. They hired out an entire club and set up a series of activities for people to enjoy. A mechanical ball on the main floor, a ball pit to the side, a BBQ in the smoking area, and a bouncy castle in the downstairs 90’s themed area. It really was an amazing event. You however spent most of your time watching the quiet Korean boy in the corner, every time his eyes met yours you felt compelled to move to him, talk to him, dance with him, anything that would get his attention on you. At the time you put it down to the alcohol. It took you exactly 3 and a half drinks to pick up the courage and interrupt his current conversation.
He was very sweet, really sweet considering he clearly didn’t want to be talking to you. It was evident in the way his eyes shifted and the nervous playing with his sleeves, still you persevered. Something about him wouldn’t let you give up, not yet at least. Your saving grace came when your favourite band came blaring over the speakers. “PRETTYMUCH” aren’t an underrated band per say but it’s difficult to find someone who knows them in your circle, so when Jungkook’s face lit up at the same time as yours you knew you had your in. So with the Phases remix blaring through the club you took your opportunity.
“I love this song!” You took his hand and pulled him on to the dance floor before you really realised that’s what you are doing. To start with he was frozen, a little shocked by your boldness, but as you gave it your all he joined in, loosening up for the first time that entire night. After that it was a lot easier to talk to him, you actually went into the smoking area to talk more about shared music interests.
After you went to get a drink you got caught up with some others and he came to find you. It felt like an electric shock when he’d grabbed your hand to get your attention, but there were a lot of balloons around so that would explain the residual electricity. By the time the party was over, and the club was closing, you didn’t want to leave him, not just now but ever. You found yourselves wandering around aimlessly, talking about nothing until the sun came up. Looking back it was then you decided Jungkook was it for you. You had never really believed in the soulmate tradition until you met him.
Weeks go by of you texting back and forth. You found out the reason he was so into music was because he was a musician himself, he even promised to perform for you sometime. A lot of promises were made in those messages.
‘There’s this amazing Restaurant in the city’ you claimed promising to take him with you next time.
‘I really want to see this movie’ he said promising to pay for tickets when it came out.
‘We should go see this band together’ The number one promise between the two of you, quickly racking up a lot of different acts to see together.
So when one of those bands turned up on the roster for the local you’d bought tickets immediately sending him the confirmation. Your stomach had fluttered thinking about seeing him in person again. And so you counted down the days as they passed. Picked and repicked your outfit. Talked yourself in and out of going. Eventually the day arrived. The doorbell signalling his arrival was deafening, ringing out through your small studio apartment. You took a few deep breaths before opening the door.
He was flawless, your tipsy memory hadn’t done him justice. A broad chest draped in a white long sleeve tee, ripped skinnies straining against his thighs, his hair swept into a James Dean quiff. You might’ve laughed at the way your outfits had accidently matched (a black crop with white skinnies) had you been capable of making a noise.
“Ready to go?” He asked nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. You’d nodded, blushing when you realised you had been staring.
It was a short bus ride into the town centre. Spent in relatively comfortable silence arms brushing against one another in the limited space on the crowded vehicle. The club was packed wall to wall when you got inside, no hope of getting to the front of the crowd, or so you’d thought. Jungkook grabbed your hand winked at you and began heading in the opposite direction of the stage. He led you up some back stairs and on to a balcony you hadn’t ever noticed before.
“I’ve played here before, almost no one knows this is here, but it will give us the perfect view.” He dropped your hand in favour of leaning over the railing. You couldn’t help but feel cold at the loss. The performance was great, you found yourselves screaming lyrics back and forth at one another. Some people had cottoned on to your little hiding spot and soon it became as packed as the rest of the club. Whether he was trying to protect you from the others or he was pushed there you will never know, but Jungkook ended up caging you to the railing, head resting on your shoulder.
After the show you’d decided it was time to ask him how he felt. The club was still busy, but the two of you had been in a quiet corner on your own nursing drinks and chatting aimlessly.
“Do you believe in soulmates?” You asked, broaching the topic carefully. You watched closely for his reaction, but he gave nothing away. Instead he just shrugged.
“I did once.” It was too blunt, you knew you should’ve stopped but you couldn’t, now you’d decided to tell him it was like verbal diarrhoea.
“I didn’t think I did, I mean I’ve never seen any ‘matching birthmarks’ and every couple I know is perfectly happy… but then I met you and I keep thinking about it, and you, and how I feel about you.” You watched as his face goes from pensive to a deer caught in the headlights.
“I… I have to leave now.” He got up and ran into the crowd before you even had a chance to reach for him. He dipped through a back entrance of the club and into the night before you could even push through the first layer of people.
The ride home had seemed a lot longer. Holding back tears had proved extremely difficult. Of all the reactions he could’ve given you that might’ve been the worst one. Somehow you found yourself thinking even him laughing in your face might’ve been better. You left the lights in your studio switched off that night. Made a beeline for your bed and passed out face down.
It would’ve felt like a bad dream when you woke up… if it hadn’t been for the crusty mascara tracking down your cheeks. You’d picked up your phone from where it lay abandoned next to you. Battery on 12%. You’d decided then it’d be best to run damage control, at least save the friendship.
Y/N: I’m sorry about last night…
You hadn’t expected his reply to be quick, so it’d surprised you when the typing bubbles appeared immediately; and furthered your sadness when they disappeared moments later without a message.
For days you spiralled. Going over the moment again and again in your head. Each replay turning the memory into something worse than the original.
Eventually you plucked yourself out of bed, deciding to face the problem head on and talk to the friend that invited you both to their birthday in the first place.
She met you at a café downtown during her lunch break. It was obvious by your red rimed eyes and sniffling nose that you had been crying but she was nice enough to ignore it for the most part. You caught up on her life for a little while until you physically couldn’t hold back anymore.
You told her exactly what had happened between you and JK, watching as her expression got both more understanding and pitying as you got closer to the end. Whatever you thought she was going to tell you was no where close to the story you got. You sat mouth wide open as she told you about the accident, and the way it affected Jungkook. It made you want to cry all over again. You didn’t know what to say once she had finished, stewing in your own thoughts for a while. The main thought that kept coming to the front of your mind was one that made you feel so evil. But you had to get it out
“What if she wasn’t really his soulmate. What if he was never meant for her” Its barely above a whisper but your friend heard it.
“He truly believes that she was” She replied squinting at you. Her break ended shortly after that leaving you alone with your thoughts.
It’s almost a month later when you see Jungkook again. Hadn’t heard a single thing from him since the concert but at least you knew why.
This time it was someone pool party. You honestly hadn’t been expecting to see him there. Didn’t even know you had mutual friends past that one girl. You didn’t think twice about your birthmark when you stripped down to your two piece. Why would you? Everyone has one. You were lay out on a sun-lounger with a drink when you spotted him. Tucked away in a corner once again, the only difference this time was his attention was already on you. He looked as good as ever, hair damp and slicked back, Long-sleeved neoprene shit covering his torso but trunks showing off his amazing thighs. You’d forced yourself to look away form him but could still feel the intensity of his gaze on you.
Eventually you couldn’t take it anymore, too hot under the sun and his stare you decided to change out of your swimsuit into a sundress for the evening. Heading inside you found your way into someone’s bedroom to get changed. Perhaps you should’ve checked to see if the door the locked though, because just as you had wiggled out of the bikini top Jungkook burst into the room.
“Ah shit… Sorry… I um.” His hand had flown in front of his eyes as he’d slammed the door shut behind him and you’d immediately reached for the flimsy dress pulling it over you torso so he could reopen his eyes.
“What in the actual fuck Jungkook?” you whisper screamed not wanting to draw attention to the two of you hidden away.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to, I didn’t think… I just needed to see…”
“See what?! My boobs? I think you managed that one perv. You haven’t spoken to me in weeks and now all of a sudden you can’t wait long enough to knock.” You came across a lot meaner than you had meant, you just hadn’t been prepared for him to want to speak to you again.
“No I’m sorry I’ll go, this was a bad idea, I was probably seeing things anyway.” He mumbled looking sheepishly at the floor/
“No wait it’s okay, I really want to apologise don’t leave.” You took a deep breath and waited for his eyes to meet yours properly. When they did you could see the shock behind them.
“Why do you need to apologise? I’m the one that ran off, I never even told you why and I fucked up and I’m sorry I just…” You reached for him then, wanting nothing more than to comfort him and then realised it wasn’t your place, arm dropping heavily back to your side. “I felt so guilty with you, not because of you, because of me.” You nodded in understanding.
“I found about your soulmate after I confessed to you. I’m so sorry I didn’t know. I never would’ve brought it up if I had known you had already found yours.” You’d broken eye contact with him then unable to watch the sadness in his eyes and not be able to do anything about it.
“That’s why I felt so guilty though because the way I feel about you is so similar to the way I felt about her, how I still feel about her deep down. I was so confused because you’re only supposed to get one soulmate, and if I could feel the same way about you in such a short time… it just feels like I’m betraying her by loving you.” He stepped forward reaching for your chin and forced you to meet his gaze. “The today when I saw your birthmark on your thigh I could’ve cried.” He uses his free hand to unzip the shirt he’d been wearing. He pulled his left arm from the sleeve exposing his birthmark to you. A puzzle piece to fit perfectly into your own.
You’d gasped at the revelation you were right. He was meant to be yours. And yet it didn’t feel right. The anguish on his face was clear, the internal fight he had obviously been having with himself ever since the concert.
“Letting yourself love me now doesn’t mean you loved her any less” you whispered, allowing yourself to move even closer to him, wrapping him in your arms. He’d nuzzled into your neck allowing tears to stream down his cheeks and onto your shoulder. You’d felt every bit of stress leave his body as he cried. Emotions he hadn’t even know he had been holding onto, finally letting himself really breath since he had lost her all those years ago.
You’d lost track of the time, just stood with him, holding him until the final few sniffles came. His cheeks had been puffy by and red when he pulled away, wiping his face on the sleeve still on his right arm.
“Do you want to leave? We can go back to mine” You’d asked carefully, not willing to let him go home alone after feeling like that. He’d nodded weakly, sliding his arm back into the shirt before taking your hand in his. You’d headed for the door only to be brought back by the hand he had on yours. He’d pulled you so close you could see the flecks of gold in his irises, watched your reaction before leaning in and kissing you. It was salty with left over tears, but you wouldn’t change you first kiss for the world. Everything felt like it clicked into place in that moment, the world tilted on its axis. The exchange was short lived, a chaste peck followed by a few smaller pecks before he let you lead him all the way home.

Tumblr media
The party was in full swing as the music enlivened the masquerade revellers in ball gowns and fancy suits. You stepped into the party in your best dress with your hair half pinned up in braids. You wore your fulgent jewellery proudly, not caring what anyone thought of your confidence. As the daughter of an aristocratic family, you never once had to worry about fortune or popularity. Your father was a powerful man and everyone knew and worshipped the ground you walked on. But really, you were smart enough to know that these people were merely a bunch of bootlickers. They wished to get close to you for your wealth and repute.
The ball that was held by your father bored you. You never really liked any of his associates. You were a naturally an introvert, you preferred to be alone in your room and read books or be with your dog. However, keeping up a good appearance, well your father’s appearance, was necessary to maintain the family’s name. So you had no choice but to get up, get ready and show your face.
You greeted one of your cousins, Bella, who had come all the way from France. She looked dazzling as always. She hoped to meet a rich husband in one of these balls, but none of them had been captivated by her enough to get down on one knee. Somehow, they always turned their heads to you even when you never displayed any interest in marrying any time soon.
People were chatting, laughing and drinking left and right, some were on the hunt for a match. A few men had come up to you and asked for a dance, you always came up with a reason to dodge them. So you ran to the nearest table to get a glass of champagne. A bit of alcohol could soothe your nerves.
And then, as if the world stopped moving and time froze. A man with short dark hair and navy blue velvet suit made an entrance to the ball. He folded his hands behind him and his walk displayed confidence and power. You couldn't see his entire face for he was wearing a mask but even with only half of his face was shown, you could already tell how handsome he was. The scruff on his lower face added to his sex appeal and there was a mysterious way about him.
He walked further into the ball until his eyes found yours, and it was like the butterflies in your stomach had been possessed. He boldly made his way towards you until you were standing face to face. You could make out his features more clearly now from this proximity. You couldn't help but instantly noticed his eyes; how translucent it was, not only in the colour but also the way it spoke to your soul wordlessly. And the blue in them made you think that God created him and inspired the ocean to seize the colour. And his smell was intoxicating. He had a masculine scent to him, filling up your thoughts with obscene scenarios. It piqued your curiosity about the man behind the mask.
You were a respected woman despite your age. Not only because of your family’s power but also because you carved out your image as this ‘untouchable, implausible’ lady to any man. It would take a true magnetic man to charm you and so far, you haven't crossed paths with one yet…. Until tonight.
He broke the silence first by greeting you, “hello there, milady. Quite a warm night, isn’t it?” Oh, how his voice was making you feel things you’d never felt before. Is this what love at first sight felt like?
“Yes, milord. It truly is.” You replied in a calm manner despite the hurricane inside you.
The orchestras began playing a lively tune, inviting men and women to pair up and dance. He held out his hand for you, “may I have this dance, milady?”
He led you to the centre of the ballroom. He stood in line with other men facing their partners. They bowed their heads and so did you with other women. They held out their hands for their partners to take and began putting their hands on their partners’ shoulders and waists.
You held your breath as he laid his hand on your skin, closing the distance between the two of you. He began to take the lead as your feet were moving in sync, trying not to step on him. You had taken dancing classes before but you almost never danced in the ballroom, so you were a little nervous about forgetting the lessons you had learned in front of this beautiful man.
“I never caught your name, milady.”
“I never caught yours either.” You snarked.
“I asked you first, milady,” the smirk on his face showed his amusement.
You chuckled, “My name’s y/n.”
“Such a lovely name for a lovely lady.”
“Oh, please. Cut the coquetry, milord. Plenty of men have told me that before.”
“Oh, have they?”
The choreography made you switch partners and you danced with this stranger. He looked delighted to have a chance with you but you merely smiled politely at him, until they switched back to your previous partners.
“Did that man tell you the same thing?”
“No, but I could tell from his expression that if we had danced a little longer, he would’ve found a synonymous flattery for me.”
“Are you used to having men throw themselves at your feet?”
“Yes, milord. I eat it for breakfast.”
You danced with him a little bit more until he spoke a hushed tone, “this party bores me. Would you like to meet me in the garden once this dance is over?”
“That would be splendid.”
The dance was finished and you bowed to each other and he kissed your gloved hand. “I’ll see you in the garden in 10 minutes.” He walked past by you, brushing your shoulder with his. You turned your head in his direction, deciding whether you should hold onto your words or not. But without much thinking, you took a glass of champagne and then snuck out, avoiding your parents’ scrutiny.
You found him standing there with his hands behind his back in the middle of the garden where flowers surrounded him, making the sight seem romantic. “Are you expecting someone, milord?”
“Not anymore,” he smiled. “I’ve persuaded you into a clandestine meeting, seems like I am winning the game.”
“Don’t flatter yourself, milord. I sneak out to the garden every day. Which reminds me, I didn’t quite catch your name back there.”
“My name’s James, milady. But, you may call me Bucky.”
Your furrowed your brows in a questioning look, “Bucky?”
“Yes. My mother bestowed me that nickname and the people that are closest to me call me Bucky.”
“Hm, is this another of your flattery that I get to call you ‘Bucky’?
“Yes, milady. I don’t take a lot of women to the gardens as well, so you could say you’re pretty special.”
“Let’s see how tonight goes and I will know.”
You and James talked some more. He told you stories about his family and you told him about yours. He also opened up about how his mother died. Though he looked dejected while telling stories about her, most of the times he was charming, with and clever, making you feel at ease in his company. You had met plenty of men but none of them had made you feel as comfortable as James did. He made you laugh several times with his jokes and you exchanged thoughts about social issues such as marriage, love, children with him. You always thought you’d never marry or perhaps you’d marry in your thirties or forties but it seems as if your heart is tossing away those ideas.
You were really enjoying your time with him that there was a moment where it was just the crickets and your soft breaths. You laid your head on his shoulder as his warmth engulfed you. You nearly fell asleep until the voice of your father disrupted your moment. “Y/N!” The sounds of footsteps were approaching and then your father’s incensed face came to view. “Y/N! What do you think you are doing?!”
“Father, calm down, I was merely promenading with James.”
“Milord, forgive me. I asked for your daughter to meet me in this garden. Please, don’t rebuke her.”
“You shut your mouth, young man. I know who you are and I would never let you lay a hand on my daughter, ever again. You should be ashamed o yourself.”
“Father, what are you so furious about?”
“Don’t you know who he is, y/n?!”
“No, who is he?” You looked at James then back to your father. James looked shocked at the intrusion.
“He is the son of that bastard, George Barnes. I had told you many stories about the lies and betrayals they did years ago. I would never forget them.” Your father enunciated those words as he stared into James’ eyes.
“Is that true?”
James looked doubtful, “yes.”
You felt dizzy. The first man that had truly captured your heart was the son of your families’ number one rival. It was as if the world didn’t like the idea of you finding love.
“Y/N, I swear, on my mother’s grave that I didn’t know. I didn’t know you were-”
“You stay away from my daughter! Do you hear me? If I ever see you anywhere near her, I will kill you with my own hands.” You father grabbed your hand then dragged you back to your carriage where your mother had been waiting for you both.
You tried to free yourself out of your father’s grip but it was to no avail. You looked back at James who was still standing there one last time before the carriage took you away. You cried all the way home.
-
It’s been three days since the debacle in the garden. You didn’t regret one thing about your feelings, but you blamed the universe for the circumstances. Out of all the people in the world, why must the man that you’d been waiting for was the one you couldn’t be with?
You missed James. You missed the warmth of being in his arms, the gentleness in his eyes and the way his voice soothed you. You wanted to see him more than anything but since that night, you begged your parents to let you see James, you fought tooth and nail to make your father change his mind, but all you got was being locked in your room after you threatened them to run away from home. They even went as far as hiring a guard to stand in front of your bedroom all day.
You sat by your window, looking up at the moon in your nightgown, wondering if James was thinking of you too until your reverie was disrupted by a knocking sound on your window. You instantly looked down to see what was the cause and the sight before you blew away the dark clouds above your head. James Barnes was standing below, with pebbles in his hand.
He smiled when you saw your face and you opened your windows, “James! What are you doing here?”
“I came to see you, of course. Are you able to come down?”
“I’ll try, but be quite okay? Don’t let anyone see you.”
You opened the lock of your door as quietly as possible. It was nearing 2 AM and the guard was snoring in his seat. You minded your steps like a ninja, not wanting to cause any noise. You held your breath when he stirred in his sleep but he thankfully he didn’t wake up. So you sprinted downstairs under the darkness of your mansion.
You quietly unlocked the door of the main entrance and immediately ran to the backyard, where James was waiting for you.
“James!” You shrieked. The joy in his face was palpable, so did yours. You ran to him, lifting your nightgown so you wouldn’t stumble and jumped on him and he caught you.
“I’ve missed you, princess,” James whispered breathily while hiding his face in your shoulder.
“I’ve missed you too. How did you know where I live?”
“I got connections. I’ve spent the last three days endlessly thinking of you.”
“I haven’t thought of anything else other than you too, James.”
He smiled then kissed you deeply, pouring all his longing in the last three days for you.
James took you to the outskirts of the town and you walked hand in hand, wandering around in the night. You talked about the history of your families and how your father wouldn’t let you go out alone knowing that you would try to see him and he told his father about you and what went down in the garden. You sighed, knowing that there was no chance for you and James to be together but then a fleeting thought came.
“Let’s run away,” you recklessly uttered.
“What?” James heard every word you said, he was just taken aback by what it meant.
“Let’s just… Get out of here. We can leave at midnight, I’ll pack up my things and we can be together.”
“Y/N, we can’t.”
“Why?” You were exasperated. “Don’t you wanna be with me, James?”
“I do, however, I can’t do that to you, my love. It’s too dangerous. Your father is a powerful man, I can’t imagine what he would do to us both if he found out.”
“We can, we just have to be careful! C’mon James, I’ve felt so alone my whole life until I met you. I don’t wanna be alone anymore.”
“You won’t, darling. I promise you. I’ve got plans, okay? You just need to trust me.”
“Okay, I trust you.”
-
It had been a week since you last saw James and you were losing faith every day. You had no clue of what James was planning to do. You trusted him but you wished he had been more clear of his intentions. Now, all you could do was wait for him in silence, unable to do anything, like a kite in the wind.
“You haven’t touched your food, dear. Is everything alright?” Your mother asked from across the dining table.
“Yes, mother. I am simply not famished.”
“Eat some of your food, will you? I’d hate to see you ill.”
You wished you could sneak behind your father to vent to your mother about your feelings for James, however, you knew that your mother was loyal to your father and there was no secret between them. You used to hope that one day if you’d ever find a husband, you would have the same foundation in your marriage as your parents had, now you would be delighted if they announced their divorce so you could be free from your father.
The majordomo interrupted your dinner by informing that you had a couple of guests. By the look on your father’s face, you could tell that he wasn’t expecting any tonight, but he got up to welcome whoever was waiting outside anyway.
You heard your father’s booming voice from the dining table and you and your mother exchanged glances. You instantly followed him to see what was going on.
“You dare to show your face here after I’ve warned you of staying away from my family!”
And you stopped in your tracks when you saw James standing next to an older man facing your father. “James…”
“Y/N…” Without a second thought, you ran to him, wanting to hold and kiss him more than anything. For a second there, you forgot everyone was watching. But your father caught you and your guard held you back.
“Let go of me!”
“Now I want you out of my land and never to return or there will be a huge consequence.”
“I am here to make peace. My son told me about your daughter and I wasn’t keen on the idea of uniting our families but I am willing to try for him. Let’s end this bad blood between us, Robert. We shall not let our children suffer simply because of our pride.”
“I’d rather die than to let my your bastard of a son touch my daughter.” Your father gritted through his teeth. “Now leave or you will be removed forcibly.” Your father turned around but before he could close the door on them, James stopped him.
“I’m in love with your daughter, Sir Y/L/N.” That stopped your father in his tracks. “I have met many women yet, I have never felt this way for anyone,” James gazed into your eyes.
“In the last two weeks I have known her, I have learned that you raised a bright, courageous, loving, beautiful woman,” he paused, as if he was trying to show you the sincerity behind his confession. You didn’t realize tears have welled up in your eyes.
“From the very moment I saw her in that ball, I knew I’d live in regret if I didn’t catch her name before I leave. Your daughter stood out like a diamond in the dirt and it was an honour to held her hand while dancing. It was an honour knowing her. And it would be an honour to have her by my side until the end of my life,” He paused. “I know I am undeserving of your daughter but I will never let her doubt that she is loved and she deserves everything good I could offer.”
A single tear cascaded down your cheek. “So, Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?” He moved closer toward you, and your father was left speechless by James’ words. James got down on his knee and presented a velvet box with a gleaming diamond ring inside it.
“Yes. Yes, yes, yes, thousand times yes.” James put the ring on your finger and you jumped on him and he caught you. For a minute there you forgot that there was still an unresolved animosity between your families, though your mother had a huge smile on her face and she nearly teared up at the sight of her daughter being so in love. George Barnes was smiling ear to ear as well, looking so proud of his son.
He thought that with his son’s reputation of being a rake, he would never settle. But he finally found his match and though he didn’t take it so pleasantly at first, James talked it out to him and George learned to be happy and accept it. George recalled the moment he fell in love with Winnifred, she didn’t come from an aristocratic family. She was merely a singer and his family didn’t approve but he opposed them and married her anyway until they had James. George also hoped that their marriage could end the bad blood between him and your father.
James set you back on the floor and you looked at your father. “Father? I love him and I may never fall in love again. Please, let me be with him. If you love me, you won’t stand in the way.” Your father was baffled, but the resentment in his eyes had softened. “Do you really want to spend the rest of your life waiting for me to find someone to marry and keeping enemies? I’m marrying him whether you approve or not. But I wouldn’t want you to be absent from my wedding.”
Your father sighed, “are you happy?”
“More than I have ever been.”
“Then I suppose, I shall put my pride aside for the one person I love the most in the world.”
“Thank you, father.” You hugged him and he kissed the top of your head.
You grew up being cynical toward fairytales, but for once in your life, you believe that you have found your fairytale ending.

Relic Keel
Previously on Relic Keel:
Lily and James sneak out to the Lacrosse fields together. Lily learns about the treasure hunt and Luke’s father’s connection with Pascal Dumais. Her and James decide to, if not be together, than have togetherness for as long as they can.
Finn wakes up in Grimmauld and is reunited with Logan. The crew learn that a hurricane is approaching and Dorcas tries to convince Saint and Sirius to go somewhere else other than Grimmauld, which will get dangerous in the storm. Logan is looking forward to Finn meeting Leo, although he’s confused about his feelings for the blonde boy.
Luke and Saint meet in Rowena where Saint reveals he’s been staying up reading Luke’s notes in the books he’s stolen from his room. Luke wants to know more about Pascal Dumais, and learns that he helped raise Saint and Sirius after they both ran away from their homes. They agree to meet at The Lion later to confront Pascal. Saint apparently likes Luke because he hates surprises and Luke is exactly what he expects him to be—mean. He also steals Luke’s sunglasses.
Dorcas goes to Kasey Winter’s ice cream shop—he also is a safer dealer of Crucio, and she tells him she wants out. He was hoping she would go into business with himself and his girlfriend Natalie. They want to create a medicinal, therapy program for Crucio, where people who are struggling can safely use to to deal with past traumas or grief. They want it to be used correctly, not as a quick fix. Dorcas isn’t hesitant about leaving, she wants to follow Marlene, but she likes that idea.
Remus and Sirius run into each other on their way to the meeting at The Lion, and Remus invites Sirius to stay at his house for the duration of the hurricane. Sirius gets proud and angry and declines. They argue.
Pascal reveals to Sirius, Leo, Remus, Luke, and Saint that Luke’s dad, Victor, and Leo’s dad, Wyatt, were hunting the treasure together—Dumo played a smaller role, had less of an interest other than an interesting discussion about history. They figured out that the Voldemort lay off of the Cradle, a ring of rocks and tiny islands off of Hogwarts Island. They learn that there is a current called the Horcrux that escalates during a storm, revealing the bottom of the sea—or a shipwreck. Leo’s dad was killed by the current, Luke’s father was taken away years after, and the map showed up on Pascal’s doorstep a few days after that. Pascal tries to warn them off of going, but Saint and Luke seem bent on it.
Finn and Logan go to Leo’s house, only to find him crying about the truth of his father’s death. Finn learns of the treasure.

part ix
Saint felt sweat snake down his bare back as he filled sandbags and shoved them up against the far side of the house. The wind already felt bad tempered. Maybe it was just him. Just Saint, the wind, and the ocean that had gone the graying blue that meant a storm. Saint thought the world should catch up already. His storm had been brewing for a long time. The promise of rain brought goosebumps over his bare back, the sun hidden by clouds, and he shoved another sand bag up against the boards, like some sort of parapet. As if they were preparing for a war.
He looked up when the noise of Sirius hammering plywood across the windows stopped. He rolled his eyes.
“Stop staring out at the ocean like a sailor’s widow.”
“Oh, we’re speaking now?” was all Sirius said.
“No,” Saint jammed his shovel into the bag of sand again.
He faintly heard Sirius sigh. “I don’t know what I did.”
Frankly, Saint wasn’t sure what Sirius had done, either. All he knew was that there was rain thrashing inside him, and wind howling in his ears, and there was gold to be had and death to be avoided.
And Luke.
He had let Luke catch him the night of Pascal’s confessions. Or maybe Luke had just caught up. He’d found Saint at the Howler Cliffs. Saint knew he was there, but kept his eyes closed, letting the wind whistle in his ears. Still, the sound of Pascal calling him his son roared louder.
“If I had known that’s all it took to rattle you, I could have saved myself a lot of time,” Luke had said, coming to stand beside him.
Saint had smiled and it felt like it had stretched his cheeks all wrong. “I didn’t know you were trying so hard.”
“You said it yourself,” Luke had replied. “Dumo took care of you.”
“It’s one thing for me to know it,” Saint snapped. “It’s—“ another thing for him to say it.
“Dumo could know more about my father,” Luke said. “Maybe—maybe the treasure can help me find out what happened to him somehow. Why no one will tell me anything. Why I can’t see him.”
“Sure, Deveaux,” Saint had kept his eyes ahead. “Tell me all about your father.”
“I need my father.”
Saint had whipped his head towards him, only to find Luke looking right back.
Luke’s eyes had been more open than Saint had ever seen them. His pain was like the sun coming through a tiny gap in drawn curtains. He didn’t let much of it show, but the mere hint became blinding. Saint felt it push against his own chest. He kept his blinds shut tight.
Luke’s voice was fainter when he repeated his words. “I need my father.”
Saint swallowed. It was nice, somehow, that Luke was self-aware enough to admit it. “What do you expect me to do about that?”
“I can’t—maybe I can’t figure this out alone.”
“I’m sure your Godlings will help with that.”
Luke shook his head. “James doesn’t understand. He’s too…happy.” Luke winced a little, the wind ruffling his tawny hair. “He’s had it too easy.”
“Lupin?”
“Remus only thinks he’s unhappy. Maybe because I am. It’s…abstract for him.”
Saint raised an eyebrow. “That’s a little rich.”
“Maybe I’m wrong,” Luke nodded.
“So, what?” Saint sighed. “Misery helps misery?”
Luke’s smile, so rare, was sad. “If it has nothing better to do.”
“Well?” Sirius said, flipping his hammer in his hand. “Feel like telling me?”
“Is it weird?” Saint asked. “That we aren’t in love?”
Sirius tilted his head at the age old question that they asked each other. It was half a joke. It was half a plea.
“I do love you,” Sirius said. “And I’d be in love with you if I could.”
“I’d be in love with you if I could,” Saint repeated, then sighed.
“We suck,” Sirius said.
“Yeah,” Saint squinted back out at the ocean, where they could see Remus’ boat.
“I do love you, though,” Sirius said, and walked down to sit on the steps, his gray eyes looking at Saint through the splintered, wooden railing. “Don’t do something stupid. I can’t lose you to the ocean. Or to anything at all.”
“And I love you, which is why we need that gold.”
“We don’t,” Sirius shook his head. “The rest of the world isn’t Gods and Hollows. You aren’t nothing or kings.”
“I have nothing better to do. And we have plain nothing—financially speaking.” Saint gestured towards the house. “Dorcas will leave for the states, and then we’ll really have nothing. We both know she’s paying—”
“We’ll go somewhere else—”
Saint tied off a sandbag with a yank. “I’m not leaving.”
“Saint.”
“I’m not.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m not.”
Sirius stood, eyes cloudy. “You’re not talking to me again.”
“Huh.”
“We don’t do that!” Sirius said, voice raising. “Stop shutting me out.”
“I’m not doors and windows.”
“Saint,” Sirius’ voice held a note of begging. “What is here for us?” He motioned towards the cross that hung around Saint’s neck. “That?”
Saint grit his teeth and began to fill another bag.
“Just,” Sirius took a breath. “Just tell me why—”
Saint hurled the small spade at the side of the house, and it made a satisfying crack. “This is the only place anyone would ever know to look for me.”
The waiting storm seemed to crackle in the air around them at Saint’s words, as though he himself had struck the match to trigger it. Thunder rolled mutedly in the distance. Sirius’ eyes matched the sky.
Sirius walked forward, and Saint let him. He let him press a hand to his face, then their cheeks together as he wrapped him up in his familiar arms.
“Stop waiting for her,” Sirius’ voice was gentle in his ear. “She doesn’t deserve you.”
“We need the gold.”
“We’ll find another way.”
“I don’t want another way. I want a hunt.”
Sirius pulled back just enough to look at him. “One that has killed a man?”
Saint pulled away to retrieve the spade. “Careful is my middle name.”
~
Leo was embarrassed, but Finn didn’t seem to know the meaning of that word.
He watched him and Logan work wires into loops to hold together shards of found lost things that his mother had scooped up from the beach, while he sat at a workbench, repairing an old ship clock that he could hopefully paint to get rid of the wooden chips and then sell. Finn, as he had regained his strength, was laughter in a bottle. He was as fiery as the color of his hair, with lean fingers that Leo found himself watching as they handled materials, or helped him in the kitchen, or turned the pages of one of Leo’s many books. He went through them like a forest on fire.
And all Leo seemed to be able to do was cry in front of him, as he had the first night, or stare at the way him and Logan were together. Logan had opened up, his eyes lighter, his grins broader. Only his laughs remained as they had been, a soft sound, almost private. They made Leo feel as though he were being let in on a secret.
Leo blinked and Finn was standing in front of him.
“We’re making you dinner tonight,” Finn said, those same nimble fingers spread out over Leo’s work space on either side of the clock.
Leo couldn’t help his laugh. “Oh?”
“What do you feel like?” Logan asked, standing a little ways back, arms crossed over his chest. He looked like some hot gardener out of Leo’s daydreams in his tight white t-shirt and his borrowed pair of work gloves.
Leo leaned back, taking a breath. “What are my options?”
Finn looked back at Logan with a grin. “Ah…peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?” He raised an eyebrow at Logan.
“Or take-out,” Logan finished with a shrug.
Finn’s smile was teasing. “Aren’t we the best house guests you could ask for?”
Most tormenting, maybe.
Leo laughed. “Better idea—I make dinner and you two stick to clean up.”
Logan put his hands up and walked closer to the work table. “Fine by me. What are you doing again?”
Leo looked back down at the clock. “Trying to fix this. I think it's missing a gear, though.”
Finn just hummed and sat half on the table, knee propped up. It made his cross swing against his neck for a moment, and Leo looked between his and Logan’s. He wondered, not for the first time, why they didn't take them off. They didn’t have a clasp or a tie that he could see, just a thicker area where the two parts of the string had been fused together with heat. They were too short to be pulled over the head.
“Do you want me to cut those for you?” Leo asked.
Finn looked up. “Cut what?”
Leo hesitantly gestured to the spot where the crosses would have rested on his own chest, and then pointed to Finn’s.
It was like cloud cover. Logan actually gripped his protectively in a fist.
“Ah, no,” Finn said slowly. He stood straight again and ran a hand through his hair. It came to rest on the back of his neck. “No, that’s okay.”
Leo watched Finn glance at the wire clippers resting near them, and reached out to put them back in the tool box. “Okay. Just thought I’d ask.”
Logan turned away and Finn watched him, too. He swallowed. “Thanks, Leo.”
Leo flushed. It didn’t feel like a thank you. More like an appeasement. “Yeah…”
“Oh,” came a voice from the shop’s open garage door. Leo jumped a little, and looked to see Saint leaning against the side, and Luke, with his arms crossed, a little behind him, looking like a very grumpy sort of bodyguard.
Saint feigned a shiver. “The room just got colder.”
“Saint,” Finn still said the name like he was tasting something knew, but Saint looked almost pleased each time he heard it. “And…”
“Tweedle, meet Finn. Finn, meet Tweedle.”
“Luke,” Luke snapped.
Finn snorted. “Okay?”
Leo was still stuck on the necklaces, eyeing Saint’s still intact one now. He figured the numbers were a way of keeping track of the kids—but burning the string seemed like a bit much.
“What do you want?” Leo sighed. Seeing Saint made him feel raw about the news of his father’s death all over again.
“Well, you ran a little quickly from Dumo’s,” Saint replied, picking up an old lobster trap that they used for spare wire now. “Should’ve stayed. Missed some good stuff.”
“Don’t act like he’s the only one who ran,” Luke mumbled. He and Logan were eyeing each other suspiciously, no doubt remembering the night in Luke’s father’s study when Logan had nearly burned his father’s letter.
“The first wave will come tonight,” Saint said, ignoring Luke. “But if we really want our shot at the Horcrux current, we’ll need the full throttle. Boom, crack, all that.”
“Full storm hits tomorrow,” Finn said from his place beside Leo. Leo looked over at him. He was still torn between embarrassment about crying and something else. Relief? Thankfulness?
Leo tapped his fingers against the clock. “We should figure out what we need for a trip like that. The shops will be boarding up by this afternoon.”
“Kris will have what we need,” Saint replied. “A boat.”
“Kris?” Luke asked.
“He runs the marina,” Leo said.
“What I was going to say,” Saint cut in. “Was that we should run a test trip. Tonight. Before the storm is at its worst.”
“See what we’re dealing with,” Logan nodded.
“I don’t see why we need this treasure, or whatever,” Finn said. He was still fingering his necklace. “I mean…if the trip is as dangerous as it sounds…why risk it?”
Saint laughed a single note, and looked at Logan. “Oh, Lolo. You haven’t told him?”
Logan stiffened, and Finn blinked. “Told me what?”
Saint made a tisking sound. “Logan. All that trouble to get him out and you’re keeping secrets.”
“Fuck off,” Logan growled.
“Oh, you sound like Luke.”
Finn took a step forward. “Lo?”
Logan sent him a pained look, but turned away. Leo glanced at where Logan’s backpack was resting in the corner of the workshop. It had been there for days, he hadn’t been dealing, but that didn’t mean any of the problems it had caused had gone away.
“I think you’re right as far as boats go,” Leo said carefully, trying to draw the attention away from Saint’s jabs. "But he doesn’t have any equipment. Visual or otherwise. If we need that.”
Saint grinned and clapped a hand on Luke’s shoulder, having to reach up a bit to do it. “That’s where this one comes in.”
Luke scoffed. “This one?”
“We’re going to visit your too-happy friend, Tweedle.”
~
James was staring at his computer, trying to will himself into college, when the sliding glass kitchen door, leading in from the pool, flew open. Saint was there, along with Luke, and three boys James didn’t recognize—or no, he knew the brunette and the blond from the restaurant in The Hollow.
“You have two hundred of my dollars,” he said, pointing his pencil at the brunette. The redhead beside him narrowed his eyes in confusion.
“That you offered,” the brown haired boy crossed his arms.
“Yeah, as part of a bargain,” James looked at Luke over his glasses. “Was the other end held up? Don’t think so.”
Luke just rolled his eyes.
“Well you’re going to have to pay up again, Potter,” Saint said, sliding onto the kitchen island stool across from James.
“Excuse me?”
“Not in money this time.”
James looked around at them all warily for a moment before sighing and knocking his computer shut. “Well, you’re already in my kitchen. And I’m already miserable.”
Luke coughed out a laugh and Saint seemed to bite back a smile, too.
“You need what exactly?” James asked.
“Lights Diving equipment. Don’t go running to Sirius, though.”
James raised an eyebrow. “I’d drive.”
“Ha, ha,” Saint rolled his eyes. “Now, can we borrow it?”
“Is this about that treasure?” James asked. “Because I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the ocean is fucking deep. Deeper than my summer of sophomore year scuba pastime will get you.”
“Deeper than you?” Logan mumbled, and James glared.
Luke let out a laugh and Saint paused in whatever he had been about to say and turned to look at him. It was almost—awkward.
“What?” Luke snapped, rubbing a hand over some stubble on his cheek. “That was a very Potter statement.”
James had never seen Saint stutter before, or fidget, but that’s what he did when he turned back around to face James.
“Can you get it?” Saint sighed.
James snorted and gestured to the TV mounted above the microwave playing the news. “I’m sorry, am I the only one who knows about the quickly approaching hurricane?”
“Details,” the brunette mumbled.
“It’s for later,” Saint said.
“Then I’ll give it to you later.”
Saint scowled.
James sighed and pushed himself from his stool. “You’re not actually going out into that storm with my help.”
“For Luke,” Saint said. “For his father. This might be our only lead, and our only chance. Until the next storm, at least, at which point you won’t be able to stop us because we won’t come to you for help.”
James yanked the refrigerator open. “Don’t guilt me.”
“James,” Luke said and James didn’t look at him. “Please. I—”
“And this will fix what, exactly?” James sighed. He closed the refrigerator harder than necessary, and the sound of rattling bottles from within filled the silence as he turned on Luke. Luke, who he’d known forever. Luke, who he’d tried to help. Luke, who had done everything except try recently. It frustrated James more than he knew it should.
“It could,” Luke bit out haltingly. “Fix something.”
“What?”
He could practically feel the anger in Luke’s next breath. “My dad was all but—stolen away in the night. No explanation. No goodbye. And now this? A letter, a name, a treasure hunt that turns out to be something more than the fucking bedtime story? J, come on, please.”
James cracked the seal on his drink. “Once again. Hurricane.”
“That doesn’t matter!” Luke said. “We need a storm.”
“You need to get a fucking grip,” James felt heat building behind his words. “Luke, this isn’t—you’re just trying to…distract yourself, or something, and I get it, I do, but—”
“You don’t,” Luke snapped, voice raising.” You don't know what it’s like. You’ve been wrapped in fucking silk and fleece for your entire life. Your parents love you more than anything. You don’t understand what it’s like. You don’t understand anything beyond your own fucking front porch.”
Luke’s words sapped the air from the room like lightning and a dead fuse. His brown eyes widened, just a little, the green dark today. His chest moved rapidly, his cheeks flushed. The three other boys glanced at each other from Luke’s shoulder.
James cleared his throat. He set his drink on the counter.
“How long have you been holding that in, huh?” he said.
“I…” Luke began. He pushed his hair off of his forehead, but it feathered back into place. “I haven’t, I…J, I’m—”
“And the Crucio?” James asked.
“I’m,” Luke’s eyes shifted away. “I’m not.”
“Liar.”
Saint seemed to be holding himself very still. They all were.
“J,” Luke had a pleading note to his voice now.
“They’re in the basement,” James cut him off, sliding back on his stool and opening his laptop. “My mom labels everything down there. But I don’t think it’ll help you.”
“Great,” Saint knocked his knuckles on the countertop and was off, the other three following.
James could feel Luke standing there, frozen and hesitant. He kept his eyes trained on his screen, and his blank page, the cursor blinking.
“Just go,” James mumbled, and Luke did.
James didn’t look up when they left.
He didn’t look up as evening turned into night, or when the sky opened up for the winds and rain to begin their thrashing on the island.
~
Kris Lavolie had his boats and his daughter. The marina was shut tight when they got there, Logan running behind the others as they dashed through the rain to the door. Logan expected Saint to pound on the glass, but instead they only used the slight shard of roof the ran along the edge of the building as protection, the five of them racing in a line around the property until they got to the marina. All of the boats were dry-docked and covered tightly with pinned tarps. Saint surveyed them with steely eyes for a moment. His hair looked like molten gold in its drenched state.
Logan shivered and felt Finn press him against his side. He glanced at Leo, who had his arms wrapped around himself.
“This one,” Luke said. “It’s like my dad’s. I can drive it.”
Saint gave a nod and the two of them didn’t wait to see if Logan and the others would follow before they were walking down the swaying dock. They didn’t have to worry about making noise and drawing Kris out. The storm hid them.
Logan eyed the waves as he stood between Finn and Leo. They were rolling and white-capped. He looked up at Leo to see him staring, too.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Logan asked. He tried to think of a way to tell Leo that, if he did, he was with him. He also tried to think of a kind way to tell him he thought they were insane, now that he was face-to-face with the raging winds. He needed the money, sure, but he wanted his life, too. He didn’t think the Carrows would kill him, but he didn’t know. The wind stung his eyes and whipped his hair off his forehead. He’d lost his hat somewhere, he didn’t know when. He reached up to his temple, his shirt sticking to his skin. He hadn’t even felt it blow away.
Leo shook his head as they approached the boat where Saint and Luke were efficiently untying the tarp.
“No.” Leo took a shaky breath. “He died out there. He wouldn’t want me to—”
Saint looked up, blinking hard against the lashing rain, from where he was shoving the tarp into a storage compartment. “You cannot back out now.”
Leo’s blue eyes matched the dark waves. He put a hand on Logan’s shoulder, a slight pressure to turn him around. “Yes, we can. This is insane, the winds are too strong.”
“Your dad—” Saint began, both of them yelling over the howling wind.
“Didn’t raise me to be stupid,” Leo said. “Or to get my friends killed. I’m sorry, I know you’re doing this for me.”
Saint scoffed. “For you? This isn’t for you. We all do things for ourselves. Bail-outs,” he gestured to Logan, and then to Luke. “Answers. I thought you wanted a few of those yourself.”
“And what would my mom think? Both of us, my dad and me, drowned?”
Saint’s jaw muscles jumped from where he stood beside Luke in the boat. “You wouldn’t be there to know what she thought, would you? What does it matter?”
Logan thought he saw Luke flinch a little, but he kept his head down, fishing the keys from the glovebox.
Logan followed Leo another step back, looking frantically for Finn, only to find him already at his side.
“We shouldn’t,” Finn whispered right in Logan’s ear, breath warm. “Lo…”
“Saint,” Logan yelled. “Leo’s right.”
“Come on,” Finn shook his head. “Let’s go. This is insane.”
“We’re going,” Luke said, eyes on Saint. “We got this far.”
Logan hesitated. He didn’t know Luke. He certainly didn’t like him.
“Don’t be stupid,” he still found himself saying, then swallowed beneath the weight of his next words. “You’re selfish, to risk your friend’s life.”
Logan couldn’t hear Saint’s laugh beneath the wind, but he could see the smile. “Bold words, coming form you, Logan.”
Logan felt Finn’s cold fingers slip into his own and squeeze.
“Come back with us,” Leo shouted over the storm. “Come—”
But Luke pressed the button that would lower them into the water. Logan only just could hear the hum of the machine. Logan watched as Luke jammed the keys into the ignition and lowered the motor. The second the bottom hit water the engine roared to life. Finn took a halting step forward, and Logan had the brief thought of doing the same, prying them from the boat. Leo’s father’s story flooded through him. He felt like he was watching someone die. He gripped Finn’s hand tighter, his other raising on its own to fist the back of Leo’s t-shirt. He didn’t want either of them getting stuck on that boat if they couldn’t get to the keys. The boat rocked dangerously as it tried to get a crest over the violent waves. With one last dark look from Saint, they took off over the wild water.
“They made their choice,” Logan said. “God, they’re going to get themselves killed, I…”
“We need to get the coast guard,” Leo said, and then turned down the dock and ran.
Logan looked up at Finn, whose wild expression matched his own.
“I’m glad we’re not…” Finn said. “I didn’t understand…I don’t understand this.”
Logan pressed a hand to his cheek. “I’m not risking you. Not again.”
Finn pressed his palm over Logan’s. “What aren’t you telling me, Lo?”
Logan closed his eyes. “I will. I will tell you.”
And then they turned after Leo.
It was like the wind was trying to rip the Hollow free of the island. The coast guard boats had been out, and Leo had figured they’d be by the point and so they’d ran half across the islands to The Hollow, where it would be the most dangerous. Sure enough, trees were down, and wires lay in dangerous puddles. Sandbags lay soaked and spilled across the ground.
Logan’s eye caught on the red of the police cars’ lights flashing across Finn’s face, made fragmented and liquid by the heavy rain. He couldn’t help but feel the surreality of having Finn beside him all over again. There had been a time where he had been positive that he would get caught, that he would be sent back to St. Clair in a heartbeat. He had spent so long avoiding any sight of the police. It felt strange to be seeking them now, but Leo was on a mission. His tall frame looked above heads, but the guards weren’t anywhere near their cars. Logan spied Sirius’ familiar dark hair only seconds before Leo did.
“Sirius!” Leo shouted, and Logan and Finn ran after him. Sirius was in the street with so many of the other Hollows, watching the storm try to rip at their homes.
“What are you guys doing out?” Sirius yelled, trying to see them through the rain.
“It’s Saint,” Logan said. “It’s Saint and Luke. Where are the police, where—”
But Logan didn’t think Sirius was listening anymore. Sirius’ face dropped to an expression Logan recognized, one he had felt on his own face when he realized that he had escaped St. Clair, and Finn had sacrificed himself and stayed.
Sirius pushed through them and took off towards Godric at a run.
~
Luke knew they were insane. He could barely keep his footing the closer they got to the Cradle. The wind was skewing the rain so much that it seemed like they were driving through water, too, the headlights making the steam and pellets seem like a solid wall to be breached.
“Third rock from the left point,” Saint shouted over the roar. “Closest to the Salazar coast!”
“We can’t get caught up in it,” Luke shouted back, wrists aching with the effort of keeping the boat on course.
Saint shook his head, hair plastered down and falling in his eyes. “We won’t be able to see any other way. If it can carry us, we’ll be safer from the rocks.”
They hit a particularly brutal wave and Saint was jolted forward, without the stability that the driver’s seat provided Luke, and right into Luke’s side.
Luke caught him with one arm. Saint’s hand shot out to replace Luke’s, now around his waist, on the wheel, and they steadied the craft together.
“We’re fucking insane,” Luke shouted.
“Insanity likes company.”
Luke looked at him, risking taking his eyes away from the approaching rocks for a moment. “That’s misery.”
Saint glanced up at him. “We’re that, too.” Then his eyes widened as he looked out over the dark waves.
“The Horcrux,” Saint breathed, and Luke could barely speak.
“The middle,” he managed. “Look.”
There was bare sand in the middle of the circle of rocks, the wet grains being whipped into a frenzy as if by magic, the water pulling outwards. He didn’t know how that was possible. It was bizarre. It was too strange.
“There,” Saint pointed as they inched closer. Luke’s neck hurt from the jerk of being lifted up by the waves and crashed back down again. Luke squinted, trying to see through the rain and the small sand storm alike. They were right at the rocks now. “Do you see it? Are they planks? That looks like—”
Luke jolted as he felt the steering wheel stutter and then go loose in his hands. He turned it once, twice, but it was as though the mechanism had snapped. The boat lurched forward.
“We’re being pulled!” Luke said, panic clawing up his throat. “I can’t—”
Luke slipped from the wet leather seats, landing hard on his back on the deck of the boat, Saint beside him.
The steering wheel was useless. They were being carried now. By the waves. By the current. Maybe by chance. It was almost like floating, had it not been for the wind and rain. That made it feel like a free-fall.
Luke had his arms around Saint’s waist, Saint’s around his. It felt like they were pinned to the deck.
“Either the storm will pass,” Luke breathed. He couldn’t keep his mouth from brushing Saint’s temple, with the motion and the way they clutched each other. “And the current will slow, and we’ll be dashed against the rocks from momentum.”
“Or?” Saint’s breath brushed his jaw.
Salt sprayed as the boat jostled and knocked them together. “I didn’t think that far.”
“That Greek myth,” Saint said. Luke could feel his fingers digging into his back. “The whirlpool.”
“Maybe a monster would be a quicker death.”
Saint’s laugh sounded strained. “Quicker than rocks?”
“A better story, then,” Luke replied. “No one to tell, though.”
“We’ll know.”
Luke gripped him tighter as the wind seemed to pick up, howling. His breathing came fast. “You told Leo the dead know nothing.”
Saint picked his head up, looking at Luke through the rain. Their foreheads pressed together. Luke’s eyes burned.
“I don’t want to know nothing,” Luke choked out.
Saint didn’t say anything. Luke had never known him to be silent, but he just stared as the boat lurched beneath them. Then, Saint tilted his chin forward, only a few centimeters, but it brought their mouths together in a firm kiss. It was warm, against the chilling rage above. Luke closed his eyes, and let the feeling of lightning brush through him. Warm heat.
They didn’t pull away so much as were pulled apart then knocked back together, Luke’s lips pressing to the corner of Saint’s mouth, then his cheek. Saint brought his hand up to Luke’s jaw to steady him. For a moment, it had felt like they had stopped spinning round and round.
“Why did you do that?” Luke breathed. He didn’t know how Saint heard him over the roar, but he did.
“What do you mean?” Saint said. His eyes were molten and—afraid, Luke realized. The rain on his face looked like tears, and he traced his thumb over Luke’s lip. “I steal things from you all the time.”
There was a horrible, jagged wrenching sound, and Luke found himself plunged into the water, Saint ripped from his arms.
~
The rain lashed against the windows of Remus’ bedroom, and Remus looked out into the falling dark.
“What a dick,” he mumbled aloud to himself.
He couldn’t figure Sirius out. He didn’t seem unkind—until someone was kind to him, at least.
It made Remus want to kill him with kindness and just kill him period. He’d been so happy on the Wolfsbane. He’d been horrible at The Lion. Proud.
Remus rubbed his eyes, closing his laptop. It was the storm. That was all. He looked towards the direction of the docks. He hoped the planks survived. He’d kept his boat as safe as he could, cranked up the tracks onto the grass, sails down, tarped up.
He smirked. Luke would laugh at him if he could see him worrying like a mother. Sirius, on the other hand…Remus thought Sirius might have worried, too. Remus sighed. There Sirius was again. Popping up.
It was why he thought he must be imagining it when he looked down and saw Sirius standing at the door he had named to him, in the side of Bane Tower, soaking wet and staring behind him, out at the ocean.
“Shit,” Remus threw his computer to the side, and his bedroom door open.
The old wooden tower stairs groaned beneath his quick feet, and he winced as a splinter ripped at his palm as he threw himself around the bend at the bottom and pulled open the door.
Rain hit him immediately. Sirius jolted around. His eyes were like gray moonlight.
“I…” Sirius began, but didn’t seem able to say any more, just blinked at Remus through the heavy wind and rain. Remus didn’t hesitate, just pulled Sirius inside and slammed the door shut again.
“Are you okay?” Remus asked.
Sirius was just staring at the door. Maybe thinking of the rough ocean still.
“Sirius,” Remus pressed, taking Sirius’ broad shoulders in his hands and giving him a shake. He was hot, even feverish, despite the frigid rain. “Are you hurt?”
Sirius just looked at him with wild eyes and shook his head. His dark hair clung to his forehead, his gray eyes cat-like and afraid.
“Is anyone else at your house? In the Hollow?”
Sirius shook his head again—his entire body was shaking, Remus realized. “No, Dorcas went to Marlene’s. The—everyone’s in the street—Saint—”
“Saint?”
“Saint is out there,” Sirius’ words practically tore out of his throat. He pushed his soaked hair out of his face. “He went out there and—and—the treasure. The—”
“The current,” Remus repeated, and Sirius pressed a hand over his eyes.
“I should have know. I should have known he’d never listen. He’d never—”
Remus didn’t pause to listen to more. He swore and snatched two windbreakers from the hooks by the door, plus a fleece. He shoved the fleece and jacket into Sirius’ chest.
“Put those on.”
“We can’t,” Sirius’ words choked off to catch his breath. “How will we follow them? I didn’t think you would—”
“Why else would you be here?” Remus said. He shoved gloves over his hands. The rope would be wet, slippery, and he didn’t want to deal with blisters and ripped up palms for weeks to come. He handed Sirius a pair, too. “I don’t know why I’m doing this for you. We should call the police.”
“Leo is trying to find them.”
Remus shoved a sweatshirt over his head. “Is that how you found out?”
Sirius nodded, zipping the breaker up. “Leo, Logan, and Finn. They came running up, and said Saint and Luke—”
“Luke?” Remus froze. His stomach dropped. “Luke is out there.”
Sirius’ eyes flickered, but he nodded after a moment.
Remus didn’t have the time to try and figure him out. Not now. He reached for the door. “Come on—”
“Remus?”
Remus froze all over again, his hand on the handle. He felt Sirius shift uncomfortably beside him, and then Remus turned to see his little brother standing there on the bottom step, in his pajamas.
“Jules,” Remus breathed. “What are you doing awake?”
Julian’s eyes flicked from Sirius and back. “I heard you. There’s a storm.” He looked at their outfits. “Where are you going?”
“We have…” Remus trailed off. “We have to pick up a friend. I’ll be right back.”
Julian stepped down the last stair. “I want to come with you. Your gloves. Are you going—on the water?”
“No,” Remus said. “No, no, we’re—It’s…”
“I want to go with you. Can I?” Julian looked at the door. “I never get to. Mom says—“
“Jules,” Remus said, bending down and pressed his hand through Julian’s sleep mussed hair. “Julian. You have to stay. You have to stay here, okay? It’s really, really dangerous outside.”
“But you’re going outside.”
“I know,” Remus let his eyes fall shut for a moment. “I know I am.”
“I’ll tell mom.”
“No,” Remus pleaded. “Jules, please. We have to go and you have—you need to stay. Please. I’ll take you out on the Wolfsbane. I’ll do whatever you want, just—Please.”
Julian didn’t look convinced.
“We have to go,” Sirius’ rough voice came. “Remus.”
Remus rose. “Julian, do not follow us. Wolfsbane, super early, mom never has to know. I’ll teach you. You know I’ve always wanted to teach you.”
Remus ruffled Julian’s hair, and then rose, turning to Sirius.
“Now,” he nodded towards the door.
It was a struggle, getting the tarp off while the wind whipped it back in their faces. Getting the sails straightened, but loose enough so that the mast wouldn’t swing right around once they cranked it back into the water. He kept them low.
Remus peered at Sirius, swiping a hand over his eyes. “We’ll have to use the motor. There’s no way I can control too much of this wind.”
Sirius nodded, but he looked panicked. “They could be—anywhere, already in the water.”
“Well, look on the bright side,” Remus snapped. Sirius was all nerves, and they couldn’t afford that. “At least they won’t freeze to death. They’re not far from the coast.”
Remus was breathing hard by the time they swung themselves into the boat and were jetting haltingly away from the dock. The nose bowed this way and that, and Remus risked raising the sails, just a little. It seemed to straighten them out enough. His fingers already ached from the tight, adrenaline-filled grip he held on the lines. He didn’t dare tie it off, the might need to drop them quickly.
“The Cradle,” Sirius shouted against the wind.
“I know,” Remus yelled back. “We can’t go in the Horcrux. We’ll just get stuck. The boat won’t survive it, we’ll tip.”
“Fine,” Sirius said. He was just sitting there, water splashing over the sides and soaking their shoes.
Remus tossed him a bucket. “Bail.”
Sirius did, and pretty quickly, too, but the waves were high.
“This was fucking stupid,” Remus muttered to himself.
The Cradle rose up as if out of mist, and Remus could see its ring of water, swirling within. It was practically a tide-pool, vicious and smooth. It almost looked inviting, like some water-park ride. Remus eyed the sands swirling in the middle with half a mind going to the bedtime stories his grandfather had told him.
“A desert storm in the sea,” he breathed.
The rocks looked like jagged death sentences, and that was when he spied the two shapes, one on the rock closest to them, and the other all the way on the other side of the ring.
“There!” he shouted, and Sirius jolted up. “On the rocks, can you see them?”
Sirius nodded and tossed the bucket down in favor of catching up a rope. He began to fashion it into a sort of hook, a circle that could be slipped around the waist.
Remus wondered where he’d learned that, and Sirius seemed to read it on his face.
“Dumo,” he said, and wiped his sleeve over his face, trying to clear the rain. “How close can we get?”
“I don’t know,” Remus shouted, turning the boat into the next wave and letting it crest more safely over the nose. “Let’s go around, the rocks could wreck us.”
They came to Luke first.
Remus shouted his name twice before Luke looked up. He was clinging to one of the rocks, soaked to the bone and bleeding from a cut to his head. Remus looked to the water. There was no sign of their boat.
“Luke!” Remus shouted.
“Remus,” Luke’s voice sounded far away, though he was just feet from them. “Saint—I—I don’t see—”
“He’s there!” Sirius shouted, eyes trained on Saint’s figure on the other side of the ring. It was perfectly still. Sirius seemed to shake himself and held the rope high, feet spread wide to keep his balance as Remus kept having to turn the boat this way and that to keep their place in the waves. “Can you grab this if I throw it?”
Luke nodded, and his eyes slipped shut. Remus felt panic seize him.
“Yes,” Luke shouted. “Yes.”
“Hurry!” Remus urged. His arms were shaking already, and he still needed to get them over to Saint.
Sirius tossed the rope out. It was a good throw, but he nearly lost his balance doing it. Remus nearly let go of the sails going to catch him, the rope slipping dangerously through his fingers as he lunged to grab the back of Sirius’ jacket.
Sirius shook him off. “The sails!”
Remus leaned back on his heels to get the rope to stop pulling, his teeth clenched. “Just saved your life, your welcome,” he mumbled.
Sirius didn’t hear him.
“Around your waist!” he was shouting, and kept the rope free of the tiller as Remus brought them about again.
Luke followed his instructions shakily, slipping into the water on the outside of the rocks, where the pull would be straight instead of sideways. Sirius hauled him through the waves, and Luke pulled himself up onto the deck coughing.
“Luke,” Remus’ voice broke. He wanted to go to him, but he couldn’t let go. “Luke, Luke—”
“I’m okay,” Luke coughed out.
“Your head,” Remus couldn’t look to long as he let the changing wind guide them out farther towards the horizon, trying to find a calmer path.
Luke touched his fingers to his temple and looked down at the red that came away with them. “Oh.”
“Saint!” Sirius was shouting, but the moonlit silhouette on the rock wasn’t so much as stirring.
Remus had to weave them out four more times before they got close enough to the rock to see Saint’s face. He had a nasty slice that ran from his forehead to his cheek, the red dripping down his jaw and mouth in jagged, rain-washed lines.
“Saint!”
It was Sirius and Luke’s voice in unison this time.
Sirius cursed and tore off his jackets and gloves, then took the looped rope from around Luke, securing it tightly around his own waist instead. He looked at Luke. “You have to—”
“Pull him in,” Luke said, eyes on Saint. “I know.”
“And me,” Sirius snapped, then shouted Saint’s name again. There was still no response.
Remus was struck with the thought that Saint looked like something out of a myth. Odysseus, washed ashore, or a deadly Siren, luring them in, the passing sailors, for his next meal.
Sirius looked back at Remus, who could only stare back, horrified, as he dove into the water.
He surfaced farther away than Remus expected, carried towards the rocks by the powerful current. Luke cursed as the rope slid quickly through his hands.
“The gloves!” Remus shouted, and Luke tied the rope off for a moment, to shove them onto his hands. He kept it hooked around one of the boat railings, letting the boat bear some of Sirius and the sea’s weight.
There was a terrifying moment where Sirius nearly slipped right past the rock, but he held on, hauling himself up beside Saint’s body.
Remus brought the boat about again and whipped his head back to see if they were in the water yet. Sirius was touching Saint’s cheek, his mouth, and then he was wrapping him up in his arms. He slipped messily back into the water and Luke pulled hard. Remus could see his muscles shaking, his wound bleeding. Remus squeezed his eyes shut, thinking of all the times they’d played pirate. This wasn’t any sort of make-believe.
It was harder, getting Saint into the boat. Sirius had to cling to the side with one hand and try to lift him from the water with the other. Luke reached down and hauled Saint up by his arms, knocking Saint’s head against the rails in the process.
“Fuck,” Luke’s wind-snatched voice came.
Sirius tumbled over a moment later, spitting salt water and crawling on his hands and knees towards Saint. Luke was already there, listening for breath. Remus had never seen him look so scared. Not even when his father was taken away.
“Get us out of here!” Sirius shouted at him, and Remus didn’t waste energy being angry at him.
The closer they got to shore, the more scared Remus felt. Without the wildness of the storm would come the stillness of land. And if Saint—if he was—
“Breathe,” Luke was shouting as he pressed in even strokes on Saint’s chest. He plugged Saint’s nose and blew air into his lungs. “Breathe you fucking thief.”
Remus couldn’t watch. His eyes stung but he looked into the full-mooned dark—and he saw a shape. There was a silhouette of a boat, a rowboat, moving back and forth dangerously with the waves. Its sides were so low that it had to be filled with inches in water. They got closer, and Remus heard someone crying.
His heart gave a painful squeeze.
He knew that cry. He knew that boat.
“Julian!” the shout all but shredded his throat.
Julian’s small figure was barely keeping the oars in their nooks. The sailboat’s weak light lit his face in red. His hair was plastered against his forehead and his face was screwed up in fear.
“Remus!” his voice barely carried. “I—”
Remus didn’t even have time to see the wave before it threw Julian dangerously to the side. He screamed, and Remus thought he heard himself scream, too.
The rope slid along his palms as the sails swung around. He ducked beneath the metal bar and drove for the rowboat.
“Julian! Don’t move! Try to stay in the center!”
Sirius was at his side, rope in his hands.
Julian had his eyes squeezed shut as he felt his way through the water, up to his knees now, in the boat.
“Julian look at me! Look at me!” Remus shouted. “You have to catch this. Sirius is going to throw this to you, and you’re going to slip it around your waist—”
Julian’s eyes were wide and golden. “The sharks—”
Remus shook his head, a sob ripping from his throat. “There aren’t sharks now. There aren’t, now listen. You’re—“ The sails swung and he felt Sirius’ palm cover his head and push him down as the boat came around again. “You’re going to put this around your waist and make sure it’s tight, okay?” Then you’re going to jump in and we’re going to pull you up.”
Remus’ throat ached from shouting, but thin tendrils of relief shot through him when Julian nodded.
Sirius’ aim was true, and Julian almost lost it over the side, but he grabbed it quickly. He put it over his head, and pulled it tight, but look over the side of the boat timidly, then up at Remus.
“I can’t see the bottom,” Julian cried. “I don’t like not being able to—”
“Julian, you jump right now,” Remus said. “Right now, come to me, Jules.”
Julian closed his eyes and leapt.
He disappeared beneath the surface for a terrifying second, and then his head broke through again, gasping and spluttering when a wave hit him right away.
Remus distinctly heard coughing from behind him—Saint—and Luke cursing him out in a broken voice.
Sirius leaned over the side and pulled Julian up and into his arms.
“The sails,” Remus shouted at him, and Sirius took the ropes from his hands wordlessly. Remus dropped to his knees and pulled Julian, larger with his life-jacket on, against his chest.
“The row—” Julian began.
“Let it go,” Remus held onto him, maybe too tightly. “Let it go.”
~
Remus shut the door to Bane Tower too hard. It was blissfully warm inside. Julian was wrapped in every blanket that Remus had been able to find and clutching a cup of hot chocolate from the electric kettle they kept down here. Sirius was crouched beside him, having been holding Remus’ place until he returned from securing the Wolfsbane. Saint and Luke were standing by the stairs, still dripping, with more blankets around their shoulders. There were clusters of bloody paper towels where Luke had been taping up Saint’s gash when Remus had left for the boat after letting them in. Luke’s own wound looked clean now, and more like a bruise.
Remus didn’t look at any of them, just stared at Julian, sitting there with a tear stained face, safe. He’d never known relief and guilt could feel so similar.
“Lupin,” Saint broke the silence softly, then cleared his throat. It was still rough from the salt water that had been in his lungs. He stepped forward “Remus—”
“I almost lost my little brother,” Remus said lowly, and then it was like he really realized it, and he crossed the room to shove Saint backwards. “And you would not have been worth it. You never would have been worth it.”
“Re—“ Luke stepped forward.
“No,” Remus shouted. “No.”
Saint’s lips pressed into a thin line. He swallowed. “I know. I’m sorry, Remus.”
Remus turned his back, trying to catch his breath. Sirius stepped out of his way as he went to Julian, clutching his shivering body close to him. He couldn’t look at them, at Luke. Not now.
“I won’t tell mom,” Julian mumbled through his chattering teeth.
“Shh,” Remus whispered, pressing a lingering kiss to the top of his head. He smelled like he had always smelled, even when Remus had first held him as a baby. Even through the salt of the sea. He felt his own lip tremble. “It’s okay.”
The walls creaked dangerously in the winds. At least it was dry. They were all silent, the only sound their panting breaths, until Remus looked up when Sirius rose. He walked straight at Saint and shoved him hard in the chest, too. Saint stumbled backwards like he had expected it. His eyes looked gold in the dim light, and understanding.
“I know,” Saint said.
“What were you thinking?” Sirius’ voice was uneven. Luke looked down.
“Sometimes I don’t,” Saint replied with his familiar evenness.
Sirius just let out a shuddering sound, pushed Saint again, but caught his blanket hem at the last minute and pulled him against his chest. He cupped a hand against Saint’s cheek and kissed him with a bruising pressure. Remus let his eyes trail over the way Saint’s fingers knotted in the back of Sirius’ shirt. Luke turned away. Remus wished he could, but instead he watched Sirius pull away slowly, then brush their lips together once more, with a pain in his chest.
Remus was so angry with himself for feeling any of that at all right now that he almost didn’t stop them from leaving when it was time. But this was just the beginning, the first wave.
“There’s going to be more and it’s only going to get worse,” he sighed instead. Sirius looked up at him. He was at Saint’s shoulder like he couldn’t move away. “You can’t stay in the Hollow.”
~
Sirius couldn’t remember the last time he’d slept in a room with AC, and, as if reading his mind, Saint suddenly threw their covers back and cracked both of the windows open, just enough to let the humid night air in without the rain. Thunder rolled. Sirius watched his silhouette squint at the thermostat in the dark, and heard the faint beep as he turned it off. He hadn’t realized how loud the machine had been until all was quiet save for the storm, and Saint was slipping back beneath the covers.
They lay there beside each other, a feeling that was as familiar to Sirius as breathing. So, why did it feel so strange?
“You could have died,” Sirius said into the dark.
“I’m sorry.”
Sirius looked over at him. Saint didn’t often apologize. That was twice in one night.
“I don’t even know…” Sirius shook his head up at the ceiling, trying to get the image of Saint’s lifeless body out of his head. “I don’t even know what to say.”
“I kissed him,” Saint said, and Sirius turned his head. Saint was staring at him already. “I kissed him.”
“You kiss me all the time.”
“You kissed me in front of him.”
“And you wish I hadn’t?” Sirius asked.
Saint seemed to be trying to play it all out in his head, eyes far away. He looked back at the ceiling.
“No. I love being with you. Touching you. Laughing or fucking or surfing. I was just scared. You were just scared, though. Maybe I’m always just scared.”
“Being scared isn’t really a just feeling. It’s important.”
“Maybe he’ll get the wrong impression. Go all—soft on me.” Saint flicked his eyes towards Sirius. “You never do that. You just treat me like I’m me. Not a boyfriend or a girlfriend or a best friend or a lover just…two people.” Saint closed his eyes. “Just two people who are doing what makes them happy. What feels good or right.”
“This is what you’re thinking about right now?” Sirius scoffed. “You almost died.”
Saint took a slow breath in. “I didn’t want to. I wanted live so badly. But for what?” Saint looked at Sirius again, and this time, there was fear there. “I don’t even know who I am. Why should I want things if I don’t even know that?”
Sirius let that sink in. He wanted everything for Saint, but, most of all, he wanted to see that cross ripped from around his neck.
“Maybe living is about finding out who you are. You’re allowed to change, Saint. Your name…anything.” Sirius reached for Saint’s hands beneath the covers and Saint held on tight. “And I’m going to love you through it all. In whatever way, in all the ways, we do love.”
Saint stayed quiet for a moment, and then he turned onto his side and Sirius mirrored him. They rested their foreheads together. Saint’s free hand clutched his cross.
“I’m so tired of being number seven,” Saint whispered.
“You were never number seven,” Sirius whispered back, stroking a hand through Saint’s hair. “You’re you.”
~
Remus and Luke lay in Remus’ bed. Remus had Julian tucked against his outer side, sound asleep, and Luke may not have been as close, but Remus could feel his body heat as they stared up at the ceiling in silence.
“Thanks for not making me go home,” Luke broke the quiet.
Remus nodded. “Yeah.”
“Saint’s probably going to steal something from your guest bedroom,” Luke mumbled.
“Hasn’t he taken enough?” Remus replied quietly.
He could see that Luke looked at him from the corner of his eye.
“It wasn’t just his fault,” he said insistently. “I went out there, too.”
“And the others?”
“Leo wouldn’t let them go. He said it was too dangerous. Which,” Luke sighed. “Which of course only made Saint want to go more.”
“And you went with him?” Remus turned to look at him, too. They were so close that their noses nearly brushed. “Luke.”
“I need answers, Re,” Luke whispered urgently. His brown-green eyes were pleading. “I can’t stay in that house, not with the way it is. I need…”
“We need to get off of this island.”
“Leaving won’t help my dad.”
“Neither will getting yourself killed,” Remus snapped, then closed his eyes. “I’m sorry…I’m sorry.”
Luke shook his head. “You have nothing to be sorry about. You’re right.”
Remus swallowed, focusing on the green in Luke’s eye. He reached up with the hand resting between them, and brushed his finger just below it. “Captain Green-Sea.”
Luke blinked, and the faintest of smiles crossed his face. It had been his pirate name, when they were younger, named after the sliver of green that shone out of the brown in his right iris.
“Captain Wolfsbane,” Luke whispered back. “We loved that game.”
“I’m worried you thought it was a game tonight.”
Luke’s brows drew together. “No. It’s the opposite. I feel—like I’m missing something he left me, Re. Like my dad is trying to…Saint helped me.” Luke swallowed and brought his hand up to Remus’ cheek. “You helped me. Thank you.”
Remus didn’t dare move when he felt Luke’s thumb brush his lower lip.
“You know,” Luke whispered. “Sometimes I wish we…”
Remus nodded gently. “I know.”
“You’re my best friend.”
“You’re mine,” Remus replied, then smiled, just a little. “That means more to me than anything else.”
Luke smiled, too, and tapped his thumb twice on Remus’ chin before slipping their hands together and squeezing tight. Remus closed his eyes, feeling more settled than he expected to tonight.
“My head fucking hurts,” Luke said after a while.
Remus snorted and held Julian closer. “That’s your own fault.”
“I do love you, you know,” Luke added after another moment.
Remus squeezed his hand again. “I love you, too.”
“Captain Wolfsbane,” Luke’s voice sounded more asleep now.
Remus just smiled.
