Like going to comfort him, and he brushes you off, maybe a dismissive “just leave me alone” and you’re so upset because he’s never done that before, even on the flight home he’s refusing to talk to you, but he’s talking to everyone else around you and it leave you sad and confused. Maybe he doesn’t realise until you get back and you’re near tears

waaaah that's so heartbreaking 😭 i imagine him trying to be civil at first because he always is, like he does hug you right after the race but while you're holding him super close and like brushing the back of his neck comfortingly, he's barely even holding you? he's just not into it?

and then later when you try to talk to him about his race like in the campos truck or in your hotel room, he's quiet which makes you grow worried and so you ask him even more stuff, and eventually he just snaps.... and you don't know what to do because even if he can be hotheaded sometimes, he's never been that way towards you?? :(

and on the flight home, i imagine him doing some stuff just out of habit, like he still holds your hand when walking through the airport, and he's still got an arm around your shoulder for the takeoff and landing because he knows you think flying is kinda scary. but, he isn't talking to you and it's making you freak out. he apparently isn't mute because he talks to his friends, campos staff, other drivers... but why isn't he talking to you?

and so you give him the same silent treatment, which he doesn't really pick up on at first because he's so deep in his own thoughts. even in the cab from the airport, you're just looking out through the window, all quiet... but you can't stop your eyes from watering because you've been holding back from crying all weekend and things just get too much.........
