TO DYE BLUE.—For blue dye: boil in a bath of logwood, to which a small quantity of blue vitrol has been added, using the alum bath as in the other cases.

"Logwood" refers typically to Haematoxylum campechianum. There are many, likely much safer, instructions for dying fabrics with this natural dye online, and indeed the 1853 Scientific American article referenced elsewhere on these receipts notes:

BLUE—The bottle of blue dye spoken of must mean the extract of indigo, or the sulphate of indigo, neither of which will dye cotton. The urine blue vat, in the old farm houses for dyeing wool, is the only safe process for inexperts to try.

As a rule, I suggest you look for contemporary advice when attempting to recreate crafts from historical sources, and always utilise proper safety equipment and ventilation.

I love it when people draw Robin!Dick as a little creepy unsettling child like yes he embodies the blue eyed stare and moves in ways humans were never meant to move in and he never really grew out of it. Like the bright colours, the flips and the quips are so deceiving he’s so unsettling in the way no other Robin could quite replicate. I just know every criminal breathed a sigh of relief when he finally outgrew the tights.

Fair Weather is a perfectly pretty pony with a classic palette. But dear lord her cutie mark—well, its execution—is awful. It'd be one thing if she were an early design, but she was released alongside Bunches-o'-Fun, whose mark is an intricate bouquet. I gave it a good brush-up; I'm not certain if it's perfect, but it's certainly a lot better.
