“You know,” Shoko says, after they’ve sat together in silence for a good many minutes, “I was a little bit surprised when you didn’t go with him, at the very start.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I know you were really angry, but I was so certain that if he asked you’d abandon everything too.”

(That he’d leave her behind too.)

“I feel like I should be hurt that you think so poorly of me.”

“I’m being serious. And it’s not anything like that, I just know how much he meant to you. You’d do pretty much anything if he said— you’d pretend to pitch a fit over it, but you’d do it, as long as he asked.”

“He didn’t.”

“Hmm?”

“He didn’t ask.” Satoru leans further forward, linking his hands in front of himself, “He went on about his plans, and how— how if I killed him it would have meaning, but he didn’t ask.”

Shoko rolls that over in her head, “Oh.”

“It’s not like I wanted to be invited to join his vendetta against, like, all of humanity, so.”

“Do you think you would have gone with him if he asked?”

i haven't been able to draw much for the last few months for various reasons, which is why i've been writing instead. this is something that @sege-h drew and i coloured

sege has been helping me out by listening to my disjointed ramblings about my 15+ year old pokemon au, which had entirely too much lore developed before pokemon had much lore to go with and is based on the earlier canon to begin with. sege then got very into gurren lagann again, and went "what if i put my blorbo in your pokemon au and he was kind of lance's adoptive brother"

"if you do, i'll make it canon" i said, knowing this could only possibly improve things

I was thinking about this post by @howtobecomeadragon about how Will’s costumes make him blend into the bg (if you haven’t yet go check it out It’s sich a god tier find)

And…okay two things

One, I think that the reason why they make hin Blend into the background is to sort of show us how Will feels internally right? Either he wants to fade and hide away or he himself feels invisible to the world. Either way he doesnt feels like hes important/doesnt want to feel important.

(And I feel like it might be a combination of both. He feels invisible so he hides.)

And so like…okay my brain is byler rot BUT IM JUST THINKING ABOUT HOW EVEN WHEN WILL BLENDS AND HIDES LIKE- MIKE STILL SEES HIM RIGHT.

In rink o’mania, regardless of how quiet Will is, how much he hides really or blends into the background, Mike still notices him. Heck- he even calls Will out for trying to fade into the background.

In the van scene, we see Mike give Will all his attention. He’s completely fixated on him as he talks, maintaining consistent eye contact on him.

And not only does Mike look at Will but (shout out to @moonlightmarvey for pointing this out to me) but he SEES HIM SHINING- like if we see the over the shoulder shots that are in Mike’s POV Will is glowing.

In the bedroom scene, Mike tells Will that Hawkins is different without Will. And that he felt that he lost Will.

Mike felt Will’s absence. He noticed Will wasn’t there- and it changed everything. Will’s presence and existence meant something to Mike. He was fundamental to Mike. Like- holy shit no wonder he cries?? He feels seen.

No matter how much Will feels invisible or tries to hide, Mike sees him.

I see a lot of smack talk from the younglings about the "Sad Beige Millenial Aesthetic" - and while I agree that some Youtube Mums should get prison time for doing their kids' nurseries that way, I cannot stress enough the calming effect this aesthetic has on my "undiagnosed for 39yrs" ADHD brain.

Let me have my stark white Ikea furniture and my muddy coloured accessories, it helps me get the laundry folded before my kids outgrow it 🙈
