yes its sad for history but i love it when historical sites get raided and repurposed by the local people like avebury they stole the stones, romans used to lob bits off the coleseum idk my dad's house was built with stones from the victorian prison... cultural conservation is of course important when asked for but i don't think we should mourn lost structures when we're living amongst the recycled ruins of our own history?

Eros 2 (How important is sex to them in a relationship? Do they see it as something essential to their happiness? Would they be able to remain in a monogamous relationship with someone they loved without sex?) - Gwen does not care about sex in a relationship at all. If she's with someone she truly cares about and love, she'd happily be without sex because it is not a game changer for her. Sure, she gets horny as we all do, but she can live with it. And also, Gwen would probably be the one in the relationship that is not seeking sex.

Philia 1 (Does your OC have a Best Friend? If they do then how long have they known each other and how did they meet? If they don't then do they have a close group of friends they love equally? Or are they more of a loner?) - Gwen has lived with her mother most of her life and so, in a way, her mom is her best friend? But besides her mom, cause that's too cliche, I'd say her best friends (and these are from the dnd game Gwen is originally from) are a half elf paladin named Seth and a dragonborn druid named Elsharion, because the two of them were people that Gwen clicked with very easily, were people she would always seek out for advice and other stuff (I mean her and Seth acted essentially like brother and sister). Her and Elsharion are both very curious individuals so they share that trait in common.

The three met on the same day when they arrived in this city for a festival, and the city was attacked by some Kua-toa. They fought the three and later she saw the two of them fight in this coleseum for a reward and afterwards, they went to a tavern to eat and drink (along two other eventual party members). Also, funny thing, Seth, because of his upbringing, had a dislike for tieflings, but after meeting Gwen, he changed his mind.

Philia 3 (What qualities does your OC most value in a friend? Loyalty? Shared sense of humour? Or something else?) - I'd say loyalty, for sure. You can keep your secrets, you can lie, but she likes people who will stick with her through thick and thin (and who will also do shenanigans with her).

Ludus 5 (What seduction techniques are most likely to be effective when it comes to your OC? Are there some things guaranteed to get them going? Or are they immune to such things?) - I think the best seduction tactic to win over Gwen is basically giving her lots of attention. Like spending more time with her, listening to her, flirting is also going to work a lot (But the person has to have good rizz bc if it's bad, Gwen will be quick to cut them with a sarcasm), physical attention too works like putting hand on her back, her waist. Giving her stuff will also work, like "oh i saw these and thought of you" and if it's something that she's mentioned liking before, it's going to win her over even more. And also, flowers. Gwen loves flowers, she has her favorites, if someone wants to seduce her, pull one of those victorian ass flower language books and gift her a bouquet that has meaning, it will make her swoon. Basically, Gwen wants to courted like a fairy tale princess.

ok im gonna use this blog to talk abt my totk experience bc i HAVE to say SOMETHING about the fact that i played the game until purah got the paraglider and then INSTANTLY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I GOT IT. ran past her and went on a 5 hour journey through the depths and fought the five lynels guarding Majora's Mask. i didnt even finish whatever quest purah had for me like i know theres stuff with the towers and impa or whatever but i went and just used whatever weapons i had at my fucking disposal with all 3 of my hearts (i lost one of them to the nasty grime and just went with it bc the lynels could all one shot me anyways so it didnt matter how much health i had) and i spent HOURS in that coleseum with my friend phoenix and i thought there were only Four Lynels but there was a SECRET FIFTH ONE and i was like in such tragedy bc he had armor and i was like surely this one is going to be the hardest. and id shattered all my other weapons on the others and killed the fourth one with just one of the bows theyd dropped. and then the fifth one ended up being the easiest motherfucker ive ever seen and i got him second try in a voice call with two other people while we were doing something else. like anticlimatic and also i cannot tell anyone about this for probably a month or more so i just have to type it out. i got majoras mask before i finished the tutorial quests and with only 3 hearts. damageless even on technicality. my friend majora

Her heart dropped. Her forehead began growing tension as she heard a suddenly familiar voice call out. She'd be more concerned if she were growing annoyed at his mere existence, his voice represented undue anger, and strife for a dear friend of hers. "CANNAE JOOST BEH IN MEH COLESEUM STANDS!?" She hissed out, flinching and jumping back from an oncoming fist. Her soul practically left her body but she looked back up to see that Ekira was cut off by towers of magenta flames. She didn't know whether to be afraid or annoyed.

"LAD--" She exclaimed out in fake indignity and real snark. "Are ye trying tae poach anot'er scientists creation? Fer shame--" She droned on sarcastically. Although, she did grab the syringe, she couldn't have this getting into someones hands. Although it showed on her face. She didn't enjoy picking it up-- there were even traces of fear that wormed their way onto her face. "Whoot do ye want meh tae do? Inject mehself wit' t'is?"

"Ah dinnae t'ink we have tae same goals. Meh wee arse woonts tae beh left alone and raise me wee oones in peace-- T'is? T'is isn't peace--" She yelled up at him motioning to the raged out Ekira. "T'ey do nae belong tae ye anymer. If all people see are ye injecting people, Ekira desttroying stuff-- and meh t'en t'ey're always going tae see t'at."

She's even trying to give Hemlock a chance to do the right thing. "T'is isn't how ye can do it."

“My, my. I expected it to kill you outright— and yet here you are, still standing. Rather impressive, I’ll give you that.” Perched up in the high balcony, Hemlock’s lips stretched into a thin smile, the small puff of billowing smoke dissipating as he stared down the chimera. The injuries he sustained earlier— the glassy film over his eyes when he’d perished right in front of Honey— had vanished, with no indication he was anything but… well, alive.

“After all… this arena you’ve created does make for quite the testing ground, does it not?” He chuckled, quirking a brow in amusement. The beast in turn, continued to bellow, attempting to close the distance yet again.

“You know,” Hemlock says, pausing momentarily with a snap of his fingers, momentarily cutting off the beast with a circle of flames. “I didn’t think you’d have it in you. Rather surprising, really. Of course, I saw enough of your capabilities with that—” he waves his hand vaguely, lips pursing. “—demonstration of yours with the plants.”

He quirks a brow, tuning out the angered snarling of the beast below. “Think of it. You could become stronger— much, much stronger than you’ve shown me. You could be part of this new world alongside me. Take down those who have referred to us as villains in their own tales. Relish in the fact that you and I are one of a kind— have the same goals, dreams.”

Reaching into his pocket, he tosses her an object— a golden plated syringe filled with pink liquid— the same he’d forcefully injected into Ekira earlier. “To take down those who see you as nothing more than a beast.”

okay i said this in a tag as a joke but the longer i play, the more i'm convinced i'm right. literally so much is just copy/paste. animations are the most obvious, but also mobs (like the shiny little critters that run away from you but drop neat loot! or the annoying mosquitos that hang out over the lake of rot!) or items like the sacrificial ring/twig and some unique weaponry, so on.

elden ring is a fix-it AU fanfic of dark souls.

i'm not talking mechanics so much as plot/storyline/dramatis personae. so much of what happens in both games feels like the two games are in direct conversation with one another: for example, what does it say to compare Brother Corhyn with Griggs, and therefore Goldmask with Big Hat Logan? (I have a lot of thoughts on these points, actually, but this is long enough as it is.)

spoilers (sort of? i guess?) for both games, though i name no names and don't explain much.

PEOPLE

The Guy Who Traveled This Path Before You is dead. He had a very specific style of armor. You were dead, and awoke in a graveyard, and now set out to blah blah blah.

A young practitioner of certain mystical arts worshipfully over-idealizes a wiser older man. The younger man declares himself a servant of the older man, who is literally just doing his own thing and doesn't seem to even notice the younger man's presence or lack thereof. The older man goes where he pleases, and the younger man struggles to follow.

A practitioner of occult arts wants to know more than is advisable. You help them achieve their goal, and they lose their mind.

A guy with a sharp, bird-like helm and straggly hair flips head-over-heels with a greatsword. He is OP AF. Black corrupted blood follows him as he fights. Long ago, he was something pure and his name was synonymous with righteousness, and he was indefeatable. Then he fell victim to an unstoppable and eternal force, and is now corrupted and (comparatively) weak. He fights in a coleseum-looking hall. A woman mourns him. Or does she?

A guy(s?) decides to fight against you to preserve the status quo, which is fucked up because he's supposed to be on your side.

A Sister waits patiently for the return of her missing Sibling. She doesn't seem to know the Sibling has been transformed into something horrendous, wooden, and unrecognizable as they're unable to leave, so she waits.

An enormous smith works on a comically tiny anvil. Hiding his face is a helm that looks like a straight-sided bucket. He is one of the few true "innocents" in the game.

There is a guy known by the epithet of THE FIRST OF THE DEAD. He lives in a necropolis. He has too many body parts. He is unpleasant to look at.

The icarus man has looked too long at the sun (BONUS POINT: this transitions from the literal to the figurative) and got way more than he was bargaining for, at the expense of himself. He is the closest thing to a male love interest in the game.

The insane leader of an institution of learning has a Daughter who makes her home in a removed mountainous region protected by a huge fucking dragon and inaccessible by non-magical means. The Daughter wears a snowy, furry cloak.

There is a boss that looks like it was taken straight out of Evangelion. It has long spindly, spidery arms that end in orbs. It is the most inhuman looking boss in the game; its existence has long-reaching implications for how Power truly works in this world. Locking onto this boss will get you killed as this fight is about maneuverability.

Sorcerers come from one magical city. eViL aSsAsSiN sOrCeReRs come from another magical city, but their city is eViL and sEcReT. Heretical flame magicians don't get to come from somewhere special.

Black-clothed knights once served the grizzled Leader of a massive city. Now, in this age of ruin, they wander, seemingly lost, still serving his will. They are generally OP, and tend to show up in unexpected places.

PLACES

An enormous city sits empty and dead. The only "living" people there are religious fanatics dedicated to defending the tenets of their faith.

Cities generally have nice pretty circular walls around them.

An enormous kiln the size of a city fills a dead city with its ashes. Parts of that city are melted by dragonfire.

All giant trees hold secrets. Sometimes that secret is a powerful woman. Sometimes that secret is a whole city. Sometimes that secret is a secret heretical sect. Sometimes it's more than one. Sometimes it's all of them.

A city once hosted forbidden magics. For this heresy, the entire city was sealed away, left to fester and die and be forgotten. The colorway of this city is silver and black.

Something very powerful is hidden in the depths of a crystalline cave. One must jump around on huge crystalline platforms to reach it. You will fall, a lot.

A mostly-destroyed blood-drenched fort has the dead on spikes for display. The leader of the fort is not fully human. Some of the leader's servants are afflicted by horrible, infectious rot. The leader can only be accessed by touching a magical portal.

An annoying maze-like Institution of Learning that has been sealed up. Everyone knows the leader has lost their mind. Crystals are the major motif. The mobs use crystals to fight. There are crystals growing out of control everywhere. Some areas are blocked because there are too many fucking crystals. Some practitioners of this magic become more crystal than person.

THINGS

"The ⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️ Eye Quivers" when near Something which, according to the morality of the "singular" religion, needs to be killed. Whether it does need to be killed or not depends on your opinion of the validity of this religion as a whole.

THEMES

It is important that you go back where you started from with a special key so you can get an important—albeit damaged—item.
