Barry Allen/Leonard Snart/Iris West

Chapter summary: Iris gains powers. Barry loses them. There are even stranger things going on with Len, but he's much too focused on his partners and their little power-swap problem to notice - at first.

A mostly-Coldflash chapter. And all in Len’s POV, because he was the only one who wanted to be chatty this time around. Wild.

Chapter snippet:

“Hey.” Len squeezes Barry’s shoulder. “You need a break.”

“I need to train her.” 

In another life, Len would be hearing thunder in that voice. Now it just falls flat.

“No, Barry - you need to give it a rest. Take it from a guy who obsesses over work a little too much himself. You’re gonna burn yourself out.”

Barry’s laugh is cruel enough to sting. “I think I’d have trouble burning out now. No more lightning in my veins.”

His voice breaks on lightning.

“Iris needs rest too,” Len insists, even though she looks fine.

Oh, she's fine. He can’t think of Iris as anything but the Flash, now, as he watches from the human side of the Speed Force. She’s a North Star, rising. This city has been waiting for her. 

No wonder Barry doesn’t know what to do with that.

Len has a feeling Iris is going to need him to talk her through this thing next, but she’s okay for now. Barry is right here, visibly falling apart beside him. “Come home with me,” Len murmurs. "I’ve got your old pre-Flash tipple at home. Jack and Coke, wasn’t it?”

Barry gives him a thin laugh. “How do you know that used to be my bad-day drink?”

Len inclines his head towards the lightning trail, burning up the distant streets. “She talks, when you get her nice and relaxed. And you know what she talks about most?”

The man who was once a speedster says nothing.

“You, Barry,” Len says softly. “She talks about you.” He pats Barry’s shoulder - the same gesture Mick gave him, an hour ago. Funny, that. “You haven’t lost everything. Trust me.”

He has a feeling Barry knows, at least when it comes to Iris. They loved each other long before he was a superhero. Len might have to try a little harder to show him that the Flash wasn’t the only reason he ever cared about Barry. 

He can work on that.

you know len gets the biggest kick out of involving himself in westallen's arguments, especially when he's the cause of them (which is often the case). he's sat there stirring the pot, making sly little digs to get them both more and more heated and loving every minute of it

barry's like "you're not helping" and len's like "oh i think i am" 😏 and barry gives him that exasperated look that's 90% of the reason westallen are fighting because without fail barry responds to len's bullshit by rolling his eyes and not actually doing anything about

iris is like. this close to calling joe and asking to borrow his gun knowing he would 100% give it to her if len was the one she planned on pointing it at...

I'm not a fan of ColdWestAllen, but I'm thinking about them on Earth-2 and damn, it's hot. Mayor Leonard Snart can be verbally humiliating, and Detective Iris West threatens physical violence when some asshole thinks he can hurt their sunshine Barry Allen. And, yes, Iris and Barry are officially married and Leonard is just a "family friend" but the real close people know they're together.

Lila: coldflash!!! I love it. Coldflash and coldwave are my two favorite ships. Coldflash has so many great possibilitys and their dynamic is awesome. They balancing each other out. I would have loved to see Barry and Len on a different earth beeing together. Just imagine Earth1-Barry‘s reaction to it. 😝

Yellow: for coldwest/coldwestallen. I don’t really see them together. Probably because im not really a huge Iris fan. I liked her with Eddie. But that’s it. 🙈

Noticing a pattern in all my favourite OT3s. Character A, who has big puppy dog energy and ridiculous chemistry with B and C, and B and C who ostensibly are like “ew, what does Character A even see in B/C” but then when they actually have the chance to interact are like “oh we can be Asshole Black Cats (affectionate) together”, and Character A is like “oh god there’s two of them, I know I wanted you to get along, but get along less”

Coldwestallen As a Romantic Comedy • While You Were Sleeping

Leonard Snart is an aspiring con-man and a thief. He comes to the Motorcar every day to listen to the police radios and learn the response times of the precinct, and to flirt with Barry, the cute (but oblivious) guy who always comes in to eat his lunch at the same time as Len. Len may have have accidentally-on-purpose bumped into him a couple times… but he's always stopped short of actually asking him out.

On Christmas Day, Len rescues Barry from the Central City "L" train after muggers push him onto the tracks. He accompanies the comatose Barry to the hospital, where he overhears a nurse mutter that Barry is both an orphan and also the sole heir to the Allen family fortune. Len manages to get his hands on Barry's personal effects by pretending to be Barry's fiance to the staff, hoping that cleaning out the rich stranger's bank account will solve all of his problems.

Unfortunately for him, Len hadn't accounted for Barry's loving, caring, and close-knit foster family, the Wests, and has to invent an entirely imagined relationship with this stranger when he's introduced to them as Barry's soon-to-be husband. Len has to be very careful not to arouse their suspicions if he wants his plan to succeed and agrees to come spend a belated Christmas with the Wests. But there's a catch: Barry has a gorgeous foster sister, Iris, who knows something's a little off.

Iris has just come back to town for the holidays and hasn't seen Barry since he confessed his feelings for her a little over six months ago. Before Barry fell into a coma, she was planning on telling him that she hadn't stopped thinking about him and that she was ready to give this thing between them a shot. Sick with worry over Barry, and suspicious and maybe jealous of Len, she is determined to find out more about Barry's strange fiance. As she gets to know him, however, Iris soon realizes that there's more to Len than meets the eye…

After New Year's Eve, Barry wakes up. He does not remember being in a relationship with Len, so everyone assumes he has amnesia. Wally tells Barry that he needs to let go of his hopeless crush on Iris and focus on what is in front of him. Barry, who has no idea that Iris was planning on confessing to him, follows Wally's advice and starts spending time with Len. To both of their surprise, the two soon discover that they deeply enjoy each other's company, to the point where Barry proposes to Len "again." Caught in his own web of lies, and charmed despite his best efforts by Barry and the rest of the West family, Len accepts. But what Barry doesn't know is that, while he was sleeping, Iris and Len fell in love…
