you know len gets the biggest kick out of involving himself in westallen's arguments, especially when he's the cause of them (which is often the case). he's sat there stirring the pot, making sly little digs to get them both more and more heated and loving every minute of it

barry's like "you're not helping" and len's like "oh i think i am" 😏 and barry gives him that exasperated look that's 90% of the reason westallen are fighting because without fail barry responds to len's bullshit by rolling his eyes and not actually doing anything about

iris is like. this close to calling joe and asking to borrow his gun knowing he would 100% give it to her if len was the one she planned on pointing it at...

I'm not a fan of ColdWestAllen, but I'm thinking about them on Earth-2 and damn, it's hot. Mayor Leonard Snart can be verbally humiliating, and Detective Iris West threatens physical violence when some asshole thinks he can hurt their sunshine Barry Allen. And, yes, Iris and Barry are officially married and Leonard is just a "family friend" but the real close people know they're together.

Ship opinion bingo time! I'm sure 10s of people have asked by now, but how about Iris/Barry/Len?

Not yet! And I think I’m probably doing this ship bingo wrong but I’m leaving all the other pairings on too…

(They’re the ones in blue) Well it seems my brain went straight for the ‘messed up’ squares here. Isn’t that interesting. I love Barry/Iris/Len but all I want to do is make it a little bit fucked up, at least for the first half of the fic. There is a part of *all* my CWA fics where they all screw up quite badly for quite a long time, until one of them (usually Iris) gets their act together and the other two figure out they really do want to follow her lead, because they actually do want to be together and maybe want to stop doing the attempted murder etc. (Occasionally the sensible one here is Len. It’s never Barry.) Surprisingly often they enable the worst in each other (and then sometimes the best, if I let them get that far in the fic). There’s no square for ‘only one of them is the adult in this relationship and that role could swap around between them at any time’ (but honestly Iris is mostly the one left holding the ‘only adult here’ sign). Some people’s fics do great with the ‘there’s no way this will end well’ theme with CWA, and I enjoy that take on them. Oh how much I need to get on with that coldwestallen sequel to my last coldwest fic. MY BABIES. <3

Lila: coldflash!!! I love it. Coldflash and coldwave are my two favorite ships. Coldflash has so many great possibilitys and their dynamic is awesome. They balancing each other out. I would have loved to see Barry and Len on a different earth beeing together. Just imagine Earth1-Barry‘s reaction to it. 😝

Yellow: for coldwest/coldwestallen. I don’t really see them together. Probably because im not really a huge Iris fan. I liked her with Eddie. But that’s it. 🙈

i love writing iris, and i think her dynamic with leonard is sooo interesting! like they’re both very wary of each other in a lot of ways, and for good reason—like yes, iris can be a little jealous, and it can be threatening that barry cares more about her opinion than anyone else’s, and also (unlike some people) she still has some reservations that leonard used to rob and kill people for a living

and leonard can a catty bitch, and it can be threatening that barry has betrayed his friends’ (and iris’s) trust on multiple occasions by going to leonard behind their backs, and leonard is probably more likely than any of them to sabotage something just to feel in control of how it ends

(and also, he used to rob and kill people for a living ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

so yeah, i’m really hoping to have some time soon to finish everything up and move into editing! it was supposed to be a one-shot, but it’s definitely gonna be multi-chapter now, because 40k is asking a bit much of people to read in one go fgjdkgk

9: worst part of canon

Season 7. Season 9 is a close runner-up, but at least it had sweet moments and a few great episodes (9x01, most of 9x07 (minus the Mark/Khione parts), 9x09, and 9x10). I think the only sweet moments Season 7 had were Westallen’s vow renewal ceremony (only a small part of one episode) and the 90s episode (7x06)—everything else sucked to a degree that I can’t even put into words (7x08 in particular pisses me off if I think about it too much).

13: worst blorboficiation

Barry, but that’s because the crossovers lean hard into writing him as a sunshine boy, which…he is not in the show 😂 sure, he chooses kindness and mercy more often than not, but he is not a sweet innocent cinnamon roll. He holds grudges, he protects his loved ones fiercely no matter the cost (smth the Savitar arc could've really delved into regarding how love can be a destructive force as well as a positive one, but I digress), and he’ll unleash his power against you given half a chance.

23: ship you've unwillingly come around to

Kilerwest and Savisco 😂 though I guess for the latter, it was less “coming around to it” and more “being shown the potential and being intrigued”? But it was a little of the first thing too. I was definitely opposed to Killerwest for a little while…though now I’m like 👀👀 about it.

25: common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

Pretty much any negative take about Iris. Like…take your pick: she hates Barry for saving the world, she made herself Team Leader, she’s annoying*, she only loves the Flash and not Barry, she said “we are the Flash”, she was whiny that Barry and Joe kept her in the dark for her “protection”…just ugh. All of these are so wrong, but ofc, people who say this are just looking for a “valid” reason to hate Iris.

*people who say this don’t usually have a reason for saying it. They’ll make lists of Flash characters with flaws, include this as Iris’s only flaw, not elaborate, and say “I’m sorry Iris but it’s true”. Oh, and Caitlin is “conveniently” never on those lists 💀 I love her, I do, but she does have flaws—that’s part of what makes her so interesting! If you “mean it with love”, then putting Caitlin on there shouldn’t be such an issue.

Coldwestallenwave, my ‘incredibly rare crack ship’ babies. (In green.) I have an RP with a friend with this ship and it has been going on for actual *years*. They’re the ridiculous crack ship you invent to be funny and then you realise they are actually really fun to write so you keep writing nonsense for them. (Or your coldflash RP accidentally grows polycules like fungus). You have to make it stupid - there is no other way it would even begin to work. Adorable, ridiculous, love them.

i would like to say. extra points if iris loves crocheting but is bad at it in a similar way to how she is with cooking, where she's giving it her all and is somehow still so delightfully, charmingly bad at it

everything she makes is misshapen and wonky and possibly a terrible colour and almost certainly doesn't fit, but she's trying her best and what are her boyfriends gonna do? hurt her feelings? no. they are going to stand by the doorway and let her proudly wind their unravelling scarves around their necks and force their heads into ill-fitting bobble hats (barry accepts this more willingly; len endures it like a cross cat who's been forced to wear a silly little costume). she's making len a cosy sweater to wear under his parka and it's probably itchy and definitely an inch too short at the wrist (one arm might also be slightly longer than the other) but god damn is he gonna wear it. he might shoot the first person who comments on it. but he's still gonna wear it.

okay but pair my "leonard snart can sew" headcanon with my "iris west likes to crochet" headcanon and add a sprinkle of coldwestallen and the result is a very cosy barry allen decked from head to toe in lovingly handmade clothing.

im picturing him in a cosy hat and scarf combo like :) my wife made me these!
