Ingredients: 1 shot of espresso. 6 ounces of steamed milk. Latte art syrup optional.

Instructions: Brew a shot of espresso using your espresso machine. Steam the milk until it reaches a creamy microfoam consistency. Pour the steamed milk into a latte art pitcher, holding back the foam with a spoon to allow the milk to flow smoothly. Hold the espresso cup at an angle and pour the steamed milk into the center, allowing it to mix gently with the espresso. Create your latte art design by moving the pitcher in various patterns while pouring the milk. You can make hearts, rosettas, or any design you like. Finish with a drizzle of latte art syrup if desired. Serve your beautifully crafted latte art and enjoy!

Aeryon sat on the edge of the hill, purplish eyes glinting in shades of red and orange and a beautiful gold, reflecting the swirling sunset before them.

They stared out, gaze falling across those twisting stone towers, the greens of the vines which seemed to glow against the sun. The angle was just right, catching the flowers and grasses and lighting up the glass with a flame almost like the life they had held all those eternities ago.

Almost like the flames of their collapse.

Aeryon shuddered, blinking back tears as they drew back to reality, one arm wrapping around their chest.

Drawing in a deep, mournful breath, they focused anew on the sweeping valley beneath. It was beautiful, they had to admit. Even.. even like this.

For a few moments, they could almost picture the beauty of before, the wondrous buildings stretching into that sunrise, filled with life. With love. With perfect pillars of stone and unshattered glass, untouched by that grasp of death.

In a blink it shattered. Screams, ancient, yet too fresh all the same, rose up into those same heavens, the golds and crimson–crimson, like the blood on the ground, on the bodies left in the chaos–dragging up a terrible smoke. Swirling flame incinerating all it touched.

Shattering glass, panicked shouts they couldn't understand.

They were young the first time. Innocent. The world was still beautiful then. Their guardian was still there.

But they were gone. It all was gone.

Slowly, with a terrible shakiness, they drew back into the present, a present of dim light and broken stained glass and crumbling stone, a present where they were but a relic of the past, Abyviron an enigma. Their elder lost, their younger corrupted.

Aeryon pulled in a breath, one which edged into a weeping, grief-ridden sob. One hand reached up to their face, claw-like fingers muffling their loss. Void, all they'd lost.

Still, that sunset marched on, taking its terrible beauty with it, dragging the world into a darkness that nearly comforted them. At least there was nothing to mourn in the night.

The Rustic Draw of Hola Coffee

Tucked away on a tiny rain soaked cobblestone side street in Madrid on Calle del Dr. Fourquet, 33 is the tiny shop simply named Hola Coffee.  For the casual passer-by, the entrance is nearly missable, marked only by a happy cappuccino sign perched overhead. Almost comical, the smiling cup is more reminiscent of some adorable cartoon character than a serious craft coffee establishment. But for those that take notice, what awaits them inside is a series of complex flavors and aromas housed in a coffee house who’s decor is simple, yet brings you to a moment of relaxation in your life that very few take advantage of in their early morning rush. Everything in this little place is treated with an air of homemade appeal that is rarely found in almost any coffee anywhere.  From the steel pounded plates to the ceramic coffee cups, everything here brings you closer to experience the food through smell, taste and touch.  The coffee is smooth, complex, aromatic, chocolaty with a hit of nuttiness. Just wrapping your fingers around the cup brings an air of warmth to your senses as you plunge your tastebuds into textures and layers that are both simple and complex. The food menu is similar in its appeal giving you options between home cooked pastries served with coffee butter and more familiar concoctions like Avocado on Toast. But, its the bread that is the real focus.  Rustic, toasted, hearty with the taste of Spain. Earthy with a hit of salty sweetness that makes you never want to leave Madrid. Through the crispy chewing and savory aroma of my avocado on toast I wash my morning desire down with the last few sips of my cappuccino, feeling the flavors linger and wishing that I could start my meal over again. Taking an order to go to enjoy later would rob me of the entire current experience and I find myself thinking about my next visit, plotting my direction to able to include Hola Coffee in my daily destination list. If you enjoy a nice morning walk, get here early before the morning crowd starts to file in. Its a visit that your mouth and stomach will thank you for.  And, like me, you will find yourself plotting a course back to Hola Coffee nearly every day before you even finish the last sip of your coffee.

Combatting the Monday Snooze Brew

Today just wasn’t a rise and shine day.

I need my coffee to get me UP AND GOING with minimal effort.

☕️first step was getting some ice because I like my coffee chilly and it’ll zap me right awake

☕️next- add the coffee. Add as much black coffee into your mug as your tongue can physically handle.

☕️add the least amount of milk that you can.

☕️now add in cinnamon & sugar. It’s best if you can charge your cinnamon for a couple minutes in the morning sun but if not no worries.

☕️stir clockwise and invoke as much fiery energy into your coffee as you can.

☕️ real talk with your brew and tell it that “it’s time to rise and shine”.

Avaeliss glided slow over the nothing, tattered wings still carrying them across the blinking, airless abyss.

They sighed, swooping down towards that off-yellow stone of the islands, getting terribly close to a stretching branch of chorus before twisting and dropping to the ground.

Stretching, they sat down on the unforgiving stone, wings extending in an attempt to remove the aching pain of flight. Then, they curled in around their thin form, twin shields against the barren land.

Avaeliss sighed again, gazing out into the abyss once more. A purple, swirling, terrible nothing, one which threatened to consume all who ventured too far from the islands. They were all too well aquainted with the beast which was the void, all too well knowing of the impossibility of taming it.

There was only compromise to be made with the void, a give and take. Sacrifice for survival, wings held aloft on empty air in exchange for the taste of death it so desired.

The void was a fickle creature, yes, of countless flickering eyes held off in the nothing, boring into all who ventured there.

They were almost used to the stare of heaven–almost; one could never truly settle beneath that omnipresent gazing.

And so they settled for staring back, mauve eyes reflecting pinpricks of light which shifted with each blink. Reality here was broken like that, a torn wound of the multiverse left open to fester.

They'd never known why, merely learned to accept it like the few others who lived in this godforsaken place.

Avaeliss shook their head, silently pulling a piece of chorus from their pocket, nibbling on it. It tasted bizarre, an empty nothing with a sweetish taste, texture just off enough to bring a shudder even after all these years of consumption.

They'd need to raid one of the structures later.. they usually held some amount of food and supplies.

With a soft groan, Avaeliss stood, flexing their wings again. They shoved the remainder of the chorus back into its pocket, stepping to the edge of the island.

They stared down a moment, into the blinking, starry abyss. The abyss stared back.

For several moments, that gaze held. A silent understanding, a silent agreement. They were both of this realm, now, though neither originated in the broken wastes.

The stars broke away. Avaeliss's gaze rose. Shaking their head, they opened their wings, taking off into the eternal skies.
