on another unrelated note (ALSO HI!), I had to let go of my trusty old computer unfortunately. the newly obtained one comes with windows 11 and of course there's a funky bug where suddenly the keyboard shortkeys won't work with my drawing tablet any longer. the joys of troubleshooting are upon me, I might just get used to a different workflow. no big deal luckily, alas, annoying as heck. don't mind this mini ramble though! I WISH YOU ALL WELL, whoever reads this, please take good care of yourself, treat yourself to something nice today! I'll be heading back to working on commissions (THANK YOU) and hopefully some bits of other art, too, heeheehe hohoohoho! okay i didnt have enough time b4 the ep but i MAINTAIN. having a fun drink IS a vital part of sts and anyway ive been doing ice tea experienments this week.

1. Pomegranate white tea.

SMELT GREAT. but so yucky did not even try completing it into a finished/sweetened drink. upon closer inspection the tea had hibiscus in it (i hate florals) and STEVIA?... just. IN THE TEA BAG... who does that??? now i know why it was on clearence....

2. green tea (jasmine? i think?) with lemon juice

i did have two cups of this but its complex... challenging.... the whole time i was just thinking... its kinda yucky. fhbgjdf. (i do like HOT tea, just fyi) even with a simple syrup (made with lemon zest and some of the same tea) added. but the lemon DID help

3. peppermint tea (tisane, for clarity, its one ingredigent and that ingredient is MINT) also with lemon

DRINK FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS. this is pretty delightful. also with a simple syrup made of. more tea. some lemon. and sugar. cold mint tea is ACTUALLY pretty okay on its own. its not like. sugar mint. more herby. and litttttle bit of lemon mades it... fresh? more lemon mades it. a fun lemon drink with. well mint but again. NOT like. eating mints mint. adjust syrup from anything to. cut the bitter/tart notes to full. this is a fucking lemonade treat.

futher planed experiements: just. regular sweet black tea (i doubt i will like this cold but i want to make SURE lol), wild berry zinger (is this even tea anymore?! i dunno. but its called WILD BERRY ZINGER. that sounds FUN)

SO MANY RANDOM TEAS. okay. im just tryna have some fun #the secret. i find. is to NOT. try and drink. like. one cup. 2 cups. fkdf #i like just a little tumbler glass full. with some ice. IT LOOKS NICE. it SOUNDS NICE. it FEELS. FANCY.#like. for me personally. ican actually drink cold plain water fine (sorry NOT TO. fhkdfg FLEX?). 1L water bottle i loveeee u.#so i dont need. flavoured drink to keep me hyrdrated. i want. FLAVOURED DRINK FOR FUN. novetly. enrichment.#i dont drink any of the other fun drinks u know (alcohol. soda. coffee)

Post-vacation clarity in the form of... word vomit? Sure!

First: so very lucky. So very fortunate. Grateful. That I FINALLY got to cross off a bucket-list vacation and see some massive trees and beautiful mountains. Everything I could have imagined! And it's definitely worthy of a re-visit, once time has passed and I've recovered financially.

Second: I'm so amused that my slight trepidation regarding the potential for "culture shock" was unwarranted. See, if you're a rather unsocial midwesterner schooled in the ways of "Minnesota Nice" aka Advanced Passive Aggression, you might be worried about venturing into more direct/easygoing/outgoing cultures. I was delighted to take a vacation from blatant pettiness and passive aggression during my time out west. And honestly? I miss it. San Francisco was pretty agreeable, all things considered, and I will make a point to revisit.

Third: I loved taking the train! And at the same time, I'm heartbroken for the way passenger trains have to operate in this shithole country. Please. I just want so many trains. At all hours, in every direction. And, if it's NOT TOO MUCH TROUBLE, for assholes to not drag enormous tractor tires onto the tracks. (Fuck you, Utah.)

In conclusion: I'm so happy I went, and now I have to go through my photos while I reluctantly pick up where I left off here. And yes, California, if I can, I absolutely will be back. Thanks for having us.

gratitude list time I'll go first

#stopped caring about some things I was caring far too much about #it's another rainy dreary day which means I can wear cozy clothes and curl up with my brother's dog and coffee and a book #little guy and I are just chillin. he's tiny and shorthaired so he gets cold easily and likes to cuddle up #and seeing as I'm the only person home rn... doggo cuddle time it is!!!#I've been reading more lately!! I'm having trouble with tbosas so I got out a couple other things (sea of tranquility included)#that I've really enjoyed. I'm reading turtles all the way down right now and oh boy I forgot how nice a little contemporary #coming of age novel can be at times. also forgot that john green is a genuinely good writer. as in I personally enjoy his style.#let's see... my favorite sound guy for church is home from college for the summer which means THERES SOMEONE HERE #WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS HOW THE SOUND SYSTEM WORKS. me and the other sound guys have been barely #managing the last couple months bc there's been a ton of random technical glitches (the system is pretty old tbh)#so HALLELUJAH THE PERSON WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT TO DO IS BACK!!!!#I've been branching out into a bunch of things I wouldn't have thought to enjoy lately bc of the time I've been spending #with my sister in law. music and tv shows and even foods and stuff!!!#Gurt is coming to visit me in a week and a day!!!!!! I don't have many friends here so I'm lonely most of the time but since the weather is so nice (thx global warming) I decided to put on a cute lil skirt, grab a book and go enjoy it outside in my own company :)
