I wanna have the same mental strength most Cobra Kai characters had after seeing a freaking teenager die in front of their eyes in the middle of a brawl they all participated in

Like... No trauma, no PTSD, no fear of fighting again in tournaments, no flashbacks, no questioning their own actions, no nothing!

The teens didn't give a shit (except Sam). Demetri joking with the boys and telling Robby "we don't want you dead", Tory not wanting to participate in the tournament only because she was scared to lose her Miyagi Do friends again (?) and not because she has experienced two cruel deaths in person in a matter of weeks/months (??), Axel seemingly not remembering anything when he was the last one to fight Kwon just before he stabbed himself.......

They literally just waited one month because of the "media scandal" and then BAM! "We're all in this together 🕺🏽💃🏼👏🏻" finale like nothing

Daniel LaRusso was the only one feeling paranoid and guess what? Everyone was like "Pft yeah, it's normal since he was the one to turn the kid LIKE A PANCAKE" 🙄🙄🙄🙄 as if the rest of the teams that participated in the Sekai Taikai weren't there 🤦🏽‍♀️

Yeah, I agree, they can't be grieving forever. Especially since most of them didn't know Kwon at all and "life goes on" and blah blah...

But the time jump being that short and the mental state of the characters being that indifferent just made them look like:

Either they're all stupid

Or they're all heartless

And I don't know what's worse.......

Many fans have pointed all of this out and that gives me a little hope in humanity still 🙃

When the interviewer asked when we should expect s5 to be coming out, that’s when Shawn mentioned that a little bit of an answer to that might be out there soon.

He actually mentions that this answer could be out by the time the video for this interview comes out, and since this interview was filmed mid-May and it’s now mid-June, I’m assuming we could be getting something soon or within the next couple months, potentially about a release date aka possibly a small teaser with 2025 stamped at the end…

After 40 years, The Karate Kid saga continues on Netflix with the final season of Cobra Kai, the series that reignited the rivalry between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. One of the interesting things about Cobra Kai has been the change in Lawrence's character over the years. While he was still nursing some old wounds, the older Lawrence has also become much more focused on redeeming himself for the misdeeds of his past. William Zabka, who's played Lawrence throughout the franchise's history, spoke about how the character's reputation as a bad guy gave him the edge he needed when he was first trying out for the role.

"...and..Hey, Y/N! Are you even listening?"

Sam's voice cut through your train of thoughts, snapping you back to reality as you turned to face the captain, who held a disappointed expression. "I..uh..I was—" you trailed off, mind blank as you tried to come up with an excuse. "no.." You mumbled in embarrassment.

The girl sighed, sitting down next to you on the bench. "What's going on with you? Don't tell me– is it him?" She asked, sending a look over her shoulder in the direction where the Cobra Kai members were standing, Kwon being with them.

You hesitated for a second before nodding.

"You can't let him keep distracting you. You already know how that keeps ending." Her tone became stern, blunt. It was like a punch as she referred to your losses ever since Kwon talked to you at the bar.

"Don't start with this again. You know I was doing well but–" You tried to defend yourself before she cut you off.

"But what? Y/N, you changed. All you focus is on Kwon and not on your team– this tournament. Does it even matter to you?" Sam asked, standing up. "It might not be important for you, but to me, Miguel and the others–it is." She paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before continuing, "So..it's your decision if you make the most out of this opportunity, or leave it." Without giving you a chance to reply, she left.

Hours passed. As you were walking around, you felt a hand on your shoulder. You turned– and as expected, it was Kwon. "Did you make it a mission to follow me around everyday?" You asked, stepping back as you glared at him.

Kwon chuckled, his expression turning serious. "We need to talk."

"Again? No."

He took a step closer to you. "Just for a minute."

"Time's running."

"You're distracted, Y/N,—" He began, when you interrupted him. "I wonder why." Kwon ignored your remark, "—I see it. You don't belong with them anymore, you belong with me, with Cobra Kai."

You shook your head. "No."

Getting closer, his tone dropped to a softer one. "Don't you see I need you by my side?"

"You made your decision, Kwon. I can't betray my team just because you want to get back together." Your chest tightened as you spoke. It was all coming back again, the memories filled with pain.

Kwon fell silent for a few seconds, debating what to say. "I get it," He finally said. "Loyalty. But think about it– what have they given you? I've seen LaRusso and the rest doubt you. They're holding you back."

You didn't reply, the words lingering in the air.

"I'll give you time to think," he continued, keeping his gaze on you. "When you've made your choice, you know where to find me."

You were going back to your room, the weight of Kwon's words still there, the decision tugging in your chest. The closer you got, you felt the cold tension between you and your team– the distance. Just as you were about to pass the boy's room, you heard Miguel's voice cut through the silence.

"..She's been so distracted lately. I just don't get it." he said with concern, but also frustration.

There was some muffled movement when Demetri spoke up. "All I'm saying is– if we keep going like this, we'll lose. It's better if we keep her back, Sam and Devon are enough anyway."

Your heart sank at their comments, the guilt crushing you. It was finally clear what you had to do. That night, as you opened the door to find Kwon, you got surprised at seeing that he was already there, leaning against the wall outside of your room, as if he knew you would come. Pushing away your pride, you went up to him.

"I've thought about it," you said quietly. "I'll join Cobra Kai."

Looking at the smile that appeared on his face as he took your hands in his, you knew there was no turning back.

ENGLISH IS MY SECOND LANGUAGE.

jace got up from his bed one more time, exhaustion weighing him down, tense muscles groaning as he paced around the bedroom. a part of him wanted to leave helaena and her new friend alone, but it was nearing four a.m. and a bigger part of him needed at least two hours of sleep before they left for the lake house.

he sluggishly reached her door, his fist hovering in the air in doubt before finally knocking.

the door swung open almost instantly—but it wasn’t helaena. instead, he was met with a pajama-clad stranger with her face caked in shades of white and pink.

a cute stranger, with sparkly eyes and plump, glossy lips.

"uh, hi." the girl stared at him with wide eyes, her hand lifting in something that looked almost like a wave as she whispered awkwardy.

his eyes drifted past her. he could see helaena standing in front of her bathroom mirror (with a similar look, but changing the pink for yellow and bright green) and an episode of rupaul's drag race paused in the tv.

"hi, it's nice to finally meet you." he answered tiredly, offering what he hopped was a polite smile, before leaning against the doorframe in an attempt to catch his aunt's attention. "helaena, can we talk?"

as if she had just noticed his presence, she turned excitedly, running towards him with a handful of brushes and crashing against you in an attempt not to fall down. "jace! this is my friend y/n."

smiling at her antics, jace turned to you and reached a hand. "jacaerys."

"jacaerys?" you raised your eyebrows, which at the moment were nothing but thin, dark red lines, before shaking his hand.

he chuckled, looking down for a second. he liked the way you said his name.

"yeah, uh, jace." his cheeks had started to feel warm; your touch left a tingling sensation on his skin. he reached up to scratch his neck, trying to ignore the feeling your hand had left in his. "she talks a lot about you."

"all good things, i hope." you smiled at him, and the fluttering in his chest started waking him up more and more by the second.

"all good things, yeah." he whispered breathlessly. he turned back to his aunt, clearing his throat before discreetly nodding towards the hallway. "hel?"

she only frowned, not seeming to understand the gesture, before gasping in recognition.

"are we being too loud again? aemond came to complain about it a few minutes ago."

jace stole yet another glance your way. you stood quietly next to helaena, staring at him with a worried frown, and before he knew, it all of his complaints were gone.

"no, it's fine. i can't sleep anyways." bullshit. he had been trying to get a decent sleep for the past five hours, and the constant waking up was already taking a tool on him. but you were prettier when you smiled instead of looking concerned. "i was just wondering if you guys wanted some popcorn."

his fingers twitched nervously against his leg as helaena's gaze flicked back and forth between him and her friend. he hated popcorn, he's always hated popcorn. and right now he was praying to anyone that would listen that she didn't remember that small fact.

"sure, thanks!"

the breath of relief he was about to let out was cut short when helaena shut the door in his face. still, he couldn't help but walk away with a smile as he heard you chastise her for it.

a few minutes later he was sitting in the dark in the kitchen counter next to a big bowl, face smashed against his fist and eyes fighting to stay open as the hum of the microwave kept him awake.

he heard the wooden floor squeak and turned to find you approaching with hesitant footsteps, your hands tucked behind your back.

the make up was gone, replaced by those under eye patches that helaena liked to keep around, and he could finally see you fully. even in the dim light, you were prettier than he’d thought before.

"hey, i thought you could use some help."

he watched as you pulled the chair next to his, his eyes accidentally drifting to the sliver of skin between your shirt and shorts before he mentally scolded himself.

"hey! what happened with the—" he pointed to his face in explanation.

"oh, yeah i'm all clean now. sorry about that," you grimaced. "we're really into rupaul, apparently."

"what were you meant to be?" he asked.

"well i was meant to be marie antoinette, and i think helaena wanted to look like a mantis."

jace let out a small laugh, getting up as the microwave stopped. he saw you pull three glasses from the cupboard, and focused on the way your own laugh sounded as you walked past him.

the light from the refrigerator illuminated your face, momentarily distracting him as he poured the popcorn into the bowl. he hoped you hadn’t noticed him fumbling to pick up a few stray pieces.

"what do you want?" you asked, showing him two different bottles, but he wasn't paying attention to that. the soft light made your skin look warm, and his fingers itched to touch it while tucking away the stray strand of hair falling over your face.

"whatever you’re having is fine." he said with a small smile, waiting for you to finish.

once you headed back upstairs —and the two of you were in front of helaena's room once more— he allowed himself to stand closer to you, sure that the darkness would hide the prominent blush on his face, and handed you the bowl.

"i tought you were gonna have some too." you said, although it sounded more like a question.

"take it, i'm not that hungry." he shrugged.

"thanks, jace." you smiled brightly, handing him his glass before stepping inside and placing everything on helaena's nightstand.

he really liked the way you smiled, he liked the fact that you were smiling at him even more.

"wait!" he winced at his loud outburst as he watched you reappear in the doorway. "are you coming with us tomorrow? for the trip?"

"oh, yeah." you smirked, your pretty eyes teasing him. "you're gonna have to deal with me all week."

"i'm looking forward to it." he murmured to himself as he watched you close the door, too busy hurrying helaena out of the bathroom to look at him.

he didn't sleep at all that night, even when the two of you did. he was too busy thinking about you.

I feel like the batkids would like Cobra Kai. I mean, it's a show about childhood rivals each training kids to fight the other rivals dojo.. there’s all out fights almost every episode.. it seems like their kind of show.

Now just ignore the timeline of the real world. Real world does not exist in this dojo-

I'd say it started when Jason was Robin. He wanted so badly to bond with Dick, so Dick reluctantly invited him over and showed him Karate Kid. Jason loved it and they watched the other movies together. KK became their thing.

Now fast forward, Jason has been dead and Cobra Kai is released. Dick wants to watch it, but it feels wrong to without his little brother watching it with him.

Fast forward more to after they find out Jason’s identity as Red Hood and things are still tense. They're in the middle of a fight and Jason yells out “COBRA KAI!” before crane kicking Dick in the face. Dick is there like in shock and is like “You watched Cobra Kai?” and Jason's like "Nah, I just saw some clips.. Didn't wanna watch it without you."

Dick convinces Bruce to let Jason come to the manor for a sleepover so that they can binge watch the show. Tim and Damian wander in while they're setting up and Dick realizes that they never watched the movies. They have a Karate Kid marathon and then start to watch the series. Morning comes and they beg Jason to stay another day so they can keep watching.

So they all connect over their love of this karate show. When they're training and Bruce isn't looking, they break out into a choreographed fight from the show. Duke lights up in realization that finally someone watched his favorite show and joins in, having memorized the choreo himself. Dick once pushes Jason off the staircase at some point and Jason pretends to be dead again. Bruce nearly has a heart attack. Tim sports a mohawk for a bit but stops when Damian tries to shave it off.

On patrols they do karate moves and are constantly quoting from the show. Jason jumps into a fight like hawk while Duke tries to scream a hawk sound effect from behind him. Villains are very confused, but.. amused? They get kind of excited to fight these weird nerds, and when Damian pulls off a cool kick-twist thing from the show, some of the crooks start clapping off to the side.

Bruce gets a new gray hair every time he sees them doing this, and he watches in horror as some of Black Mask's goons start to chat with them about episodes from the show. Tim and one of Mask's men get into an argument about Johnny's morality, and a huge fight ends up breaking out between everyone. Some of Mask's men join Tim's side, Dick and Duke join the other, and Bruce watches on as everyone turns on each other, all because his kids wanted to watch some show.

cobra kai: has kreese acknowledge outright that johnny was okay with losing to daniel and then showcases via flashbacks to tkk1 & tkk2 that johnny congratulated daniel on his win and told kreese that he did his best before kreese broke his trophy and tried to kill him.

cobra kai: has johnny admit that it never mattered to him if he lost because he knew he did his best and he could have won (literally same thing he said in tkk2)

also cobra kai:

repeatedly made it clear that johnny is still dealing with the trauma of nearly being murdered by someone he loved and idolised;

literally stated in the series finale that being labelled a "loser" (which kreese called him as he was choking him) is a legitimate trigger for him;

showcased that he can't handle anything around his neck; and

gone out of their way to make it as clear and simple as possible for anyone to understand that there is no separating losing the fight from nearly being murdered because losing that fight is the reason he was nearly murdered.
