Carmen’s canon nicknames for Johnny.
Hoping season 6 (or a season 5 deleted scene) blesses us with Johnny’s nickname for Carmen (something other than babe, something cute he came up with just for her, like Amanda did with ‘hubby-san’).
It would also be super awesome if either of them has a Spanish nickname for the other.

ok but nothing was funnier in cobra kai s3 than the scene where the cop says Kreese filed for a restraining order because Amanda assaulted him and Daniel responds ‘my wife would never commit a crime 😌’ only for Amanda to pull the funniest face on earth and Daniel promptly loses his mind

Note
So I was looking at deleted scenes from
CK and came across one where Terry and John are talking on Terry’s balcony after meeting for the first time in years. Then this line from Terry comes up:
“Danny-boy? I thought he was busy chopping prices.”
In this deleted scene from season 4, Terry’s talking to John who casually mentions Daniel...and clearly, with that response, Terry knows what (Daniel’s) been up to, and has seen him on TV as well. Probably driven past a billboard or two- maybe even his car dealership!
So why then, didn’t Terry...do something all this time? What was it that John did or said that made Terry go off the rails so badly after spending 30+ years living peacefully, and not being bothered seeing “Danny-boy” on TV? What triggered him to just throw away three decades of a peaceful, wealthy, and successful life for a karate dojo?
Honestly, I feel somewhat bad for Terry here. John really opened up Pandora’s Box by being a selfish, scheming, and evil prick.
I’m new to CK and would like your thoughts on this, if you don’t mind! :)
Also, on a lighter note, Terry’s tone of voice and expression when he says the line cracks me up. Just like a little boy in a candy store. He’s like, soooo pleased to hear about his Danny-boy. The shipper in me giggles!
And lastly: Terry looked damn good in this scene. Sugar Daddy vibes! Was it the glasses, the sports coat, or the unbuttoned shirt? 😝
Interesting! I've never seen that one.
So, Tig has said some interesting things about the way Terry's mind works.
1. His legacy. Cobra Kai's legacy. It's something unfinished.
2. Daniel not accepting his apology.
(and this is interesting because to an outsiders perspective it doesn't seem like Terry is being sincere. I headcanon that Terry did want to apologize, but less in that way of "I'm going to make amends" and more in the way of "I want this to stop being a problem.")
He says he's taking responsibility for his actions. That they were wrong. He knows this. He's aware. However once Daniel rebukes his apology his attitude does a 180.
"that stuck up little prick."
I don't think Terry is used to not getting what he wants. He was hoping he could apologize without putting much real work into otherwise.
Have you ever met the type of person who was like "I'm sorry I hurt your feelings " but what they really mean is "I'm sorry me hurting your feelings hurt your feelings but it's kind of your fault that your feelings got hurt and it's kind of rude to blame it on me?"
Anyway. At the possibility of sounding like a deranged shipper I do think Terry actually enjoyed spending time with Daniel. Beyond just manipulating him for Kreese. And I do think he would've liked to have been able to have Daniel back in his life. He maybe just never thought it was possible before.
Is Terry genuinely not aware of just how much damage he did? Did he genuinely expect his apology to be taken at fave value? I can't help but think he's smarter than that.
It makes no sense to me honestly, and this is one of the reasons why I desperately need to know what happened between the CK flashbacks and the tkk timeline.
I would have to say though, that what pushed him off the slippery slope was the combination of Daniel rejecting his apology (as was his right) and Kreese (his ride or die hoe so to speak) getting squirly and pulling rank on him the second Terry tries to have an actual emotional and equal relationship with the guy.
He gave up a peaceful life (with some annoying friends, but a hot beard tbh) for this silly little karate war. And he's getting nothing back. He's alone again.
But that's not exactly the question. I think what triggered Terry into giving up his calm life for a silly karate war was that he was bored.
He seemed to have genuinely made a lot of progress in therapy and rehab, and yet it seemed clear that his new persona was just that. A persona. Like a costume he was trying on.
I think Terry's personality naturally lends itself to obsession and addiction.
I think he has issues with his sense of self. Of what he wants and where he's going on life.
There's also the possibility that there was a terminal illness plot that got cut for Terry. Which at first I didn't see, but then upon rewatching the 5th season made sense to me. (But that's another topic)
But why then specifically? Maybe he was able to control his Daniel LaRusso Derangement Syndrome before because he wasn't spending any time with anyone who knew him like he did. And then when Kreese came back into his life he shifted back to how he was in the 80's and he was never fully over any of it. But he could pretend.
(note the dojo scene. )
"you just couldn't let sleeping dogs lie"
Also an interesting note is that obsession can affect the brain in a similar way as addiction, which we know terry has traits of both in canon.
I feel like Terry was living his life but was still craving that rush he gets from the high. Daniel gives him that high. He somehow fought it off until Kreese came and enabled him.
The more I look at it the more it really seems like a case of an addict brain relapsing.
I also believe he has a way of all or nothing, black and white behavior that speaks to BPD, and other mental instabilities.

I was tagged by @trialnerror and @crimsonandclover27 thank you!
Add ten characters you fell in love with in 2021, whether you liked them before this year but really fell for them now or just met them, and tag 10 (or more, if you want) people + share your top movies of 2021
Daniel LaRusso (Cobra Kai, The Karate Kid) - I grew up watching TKK movies and Johnny Cade from The Outsiders was the first fictional crush I remember having, so it was wonderful to re-discover my love for Daniel LaRusso and Ralph Macchio.
Johnny Lawrence (Cobra Kai, The Karate Kid) - I loved him almost as much as Daniel all year, but when they released those long-lost TKK deleted scenes, my heart went completely doki doki for Johnny Lawrence and season 4 of Cobra Kai sealed the deal.
Duncan Idaho (Dune 2021) - The guy is played by Jason Momoa. What's not to love?
NakeyJakey (Youtube) - I've been watching him for ages, but I recently went through his entire channel again and dude is literal serotonin in human form.
Paul Atreides (Dune 2021) - Dune is just something I like on the side and I'm still sad that there's no proper fandom, but I really liked Timothee Chalamet's portrayal of this character.
And that's it, sorry haha. I spent 95% of my 2021 in the Cobra Kai fandom, so I didn't really get invested in characters from other fandoms.
I also didn't see that many new releases in 2021 for obvious reasons, but let's see what my Letterboxd says...
1. Dune 2. Ghostbusters Afterlife 3. Don't Look Up 4. Spider-Man: No Way Home 5. Tick, Tick, BOOM! 6. Bo Burnham: Inside 7. Malignant 8. Spencer 9. The Power of the Dog 10. The Suicide Squad.

YouTube Shows Supremacy Amidst The Pandemic
During the pandemic, YouTube was able to show what they are capable of in terms of fact-checking as more conspiracy theories emerged on the platform.
Tumblr media
The company started seeing these first months of YouTube-related pandemic developments as a broader narrative.  The tale follows in a broadly imaginative manner of a portrait of human needs that are met. Both the needs and how they were discussed were a simple collection of subjects that the company defined with a little sociological framework. It sounds abstract, but as you simply see through the YouTube plots, different stories can unfold through the screen.
YouTube Teams Around the World
Ben McOwen Wilson, the Regional Manager of YouTube for North America, the Middle East, and Africa, said that the pandemic has provided an opportunity for YouTube to demonstrate what the world’s biggest video-sharing platform can do in terms of fact-checking. Throughout the pandemic, YouTube has continued to delete videos that were against its community guidelines. Grow your YouTube channel in a minute. Here’s the easiest way.
The fact-checking function has also been launched in the United States, India, and Brazil. International U.S. and organizations based in India may also perform fact-finding reviews in English.
Fact-check collaborations are also presented earlier this month in Germany. Wilson, Chief Executive YouTube U.K., said that specific political partner accessibility was crucial for delaying globalization of the YouTube knowledge fact-check committees.  Today, YouTube collaborates with related organizations such as the BBC Reality Check, Full Fact Service, FactCheckNI, and many others.
Wilson also stated how TikTok could play a significant contribution to the online removal of violent material. TikTok was in the hot seat since scenes of a man perpetrating suicidal acts on Facebook Live had been extensively spreading on various website over the last few weeks. Wilson said that TikTok had a special problem with their systems, which proved to be favorable. He added that for such a small platform, if any other site had had the problem, the issues would have been much larger.
Tumblr media
However, he believes that it is an essential step if people want to take part in forums across the sector and that they would be welcome in their company. In September, Theo Bertram, Director of Governance and Social Policy for TikTok in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, appeared before the Congressional Committee on digital hazards and misinformation and told the CEOs that all-important social media sites like YouTube had appealed to the organization to work collaboratively to delete malicious content.
Wilson said that such alliances were always in existence. Since before, teams and social networking stakeholders have set up a series of operating groups in various areas of damage. TikTok becomes a huge member of most of the groups.
He added that the company would partner with other platforms and agencies to establish guiding principles around networking. So far, the company believes that they had addressed issues regarding violent extremism and a broad scope just before TikTok became more popular. In all ways around the changing approaches to knowledge exchange, the company promises to continue playing a significant role in protecting its community.
YouTube Personalities on the Rise
"Cobra Kai," a YouTube program that has appeared on the network for two years, was bought by Netflix and will be released in 2021 for the third season. With both sides taken into consideration, it was considered as an adult decision, according to Wilson. It seems less difficult for a massive platform than it is for the BBC or any other station because it does not own the content being shared on its platform.
In the 3rd season, the lead protagonist, Miguel Díaz, played by Xolo Maridueña, is still bent on the violent war among rival secondary school karate dojos. Daniel from Macchio is finding answers from his experience, while Johnny from Zabka is seeking salvation. On the other hand, John Kreese, played by Martin Kove, aims to get his pupils into line with his supremacy view.
The television series was created and managed by the producer, Counterbalance Entertainment, by Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg. The executives will produce, in collaboration with Sony Pictures TV,  James Lassiter, Will Smith, and Caleeb Pinkett for Overbrook Entertainment. Cobra Kai's co-executive producers are Zabka and the Macchio, who are members of an early film series.
A YouTube personality Mo Gilligan, for example, is mentioned by Wilson on Channel 4 and Netflix. He added that he was not feeling bitter but rather a huge pride for being part of the enormous success. Wilson shared that otherwise, because of the pandemic, YouTube noticed an increase in health material use. The executive also spoke on the website about different materials regarding the community guidelines.
Analysis by Oxford Economics has shown that 71% of people have accepted that YouTube houses allow improved content and 76% of the data in media. Furthermore, entertainment corporations in the U.K. polled through a popular YouTuber who decided to promote a wide selection of content producers, while the site sheds light on unexplored talents. Eighty-three percent of British media and music respondent firms use YouTube.
Tumblr media
YouTube's artistic environment was funded in 2019 with 30,000 packed jobs with a financial figure of £1.4 billion ($1.81 billion) to the national GDP of YouTube's innovative community. Ninety-six percent of adults in the United Kingdom utilize YouTube. Typical internet adult in the U.K. every month monitor YouTube 46 minutes per day based on Comscore figures.
Conclusion
The pandemic that has shaken the entire world is not yet over. However, its startling inception has taught the people surprising consistency in the networks' content trends. This unity explains people's mutual needs, including feelings of attachment, well-being, and a clear sense of identity. It is a point the disease outbreak seeks to assume frequently that people are all human regardless of how different they behave. The world tries to resolve the needs of isolated people watching the same kinds of videos halfway through these hectic days.

Cobra Kai - Seasons One & Two
Tumblr media
I never considered myself a hardcore fan of the original Karate Kid films. I enjoyed them growing up, and the first film held up when I re-watched it with a friend three or four years ago. A few years ago, YouTube picked up the rights to have their own exclusive series that features the characters from the original movies and have it pick up where those characters are today, 30 years after the original trilogy left off. It is called Cobra Kai (trailer), the name of the rival karate school that series antagonist Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) attended. The first episode of both seasons one and two are available to stream for free, but to see the rest of the seasons you will have to be a paid subscriber to YouTube Premium, or you can be like me and pick up the DVD set that combines the first two seasons for under $20. The first season picks up in the present, nearly 30 years after the original trilogy wrapped up. It starts to focus on where deadbeat Johnny Lawrence is currently at in his life, barely able to make ends meet on his own and finding himself recently out of a job. He reluctantly helps his neighbor Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) out of a jam with some bullies. Miguel is impressed with Johnny’s karate skills and wants him to be his sensei, and once Johnny stumbles into some money, he re-opens the Cobra Kai school.
Tumblr media
Cobra Kai is not all about Johnny’s journey as fate leads to Johnny soon enough getting reacquainted with his rival, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Daniel is in a much better place in his life; he runs a car dealership with his wife, Amanda (Courtney Henggeler) and they have a daughter Amanda (Mary Mouser) that Daniel has passed on his karate tutelage onto. Eventually Johnny and Daniel’s egos heat up once again and in their proper way of thinking the best way to exact revenge on one another is for them to train their prized pupil in order to win the regional karate championship to rub in the other’s face. Only Amanda is hesitant on getting back into karate and fate leads to Daniel taking Johnny’s estranged son Robby (Tanner Buchanan) under his wing where this eventually all builds up to Robby and Miguel squaring off in the finals of the all-important regeional karate tournament. By the end of the first episode I was completely on board, after originally thinking there was no way they can pull this off thirty years later. However, once you see Johnny and Daniel exchange words for the first time again all these years later it is readily apparent there is an organic chemistry between the two and it was eye-opening how the two did not miss a beat after three decades. Another factor that helps is Cobra Kai nails the tone it is going for. It retains just enough of that cornball-80s charm with elements of Johnny and Daniel still living in the past. Apparently Johnny boycotted new technology post high school and scenes with him discovering the Internet, smartphones and dating apps are all a riot. The humor is balanced out by playing it straight with the new younger faces introduced and going along for the ride with Miguel, Amanada and Robby’s teenage growing pains.
Tumblr media
Seeing all the characters evolve over the course of the two seasons is a remarkable feat of television. Johnny goes on a journey from being deadbeat dad, to trying to be the same ruthless sensei that his teacher Kreese (Martin Kove) was to eventually learning a moral or two. Miguel’s and Robby’s season spanning arc is truly something else and watching them gradually become different people stayed with me. The build up to the season finale at the karate tournament hit all the right nostalgia wrinkles and I love how the tournament organizers overplayed it and properly recognized Cobra Kai’s AWESOME entrance. The karate tournament itself is masterfully produced and once again brought back fond memories of the original films with plenty of nice little nods and callbacks throughout. The final fight between Robby and Miguel lived up to the hype that built to it throughout the season. After picking up the DVDs I invited my brother over to watch this with me as I had a gut feeling he would appreciate Cobra Kai as much as I would, and sure enough by the season one finale tournament we both were unabashedly rooting for our favorites and feeling every kick and blow dealt throughout. Season two raises the stakes with an old face in the controversial original Cobra Kai sensei Kreese coming back to help with Cobra Kai’s expanding student-base while Daniel officially starts his own dojo, Miagi-do to combat Cobra Kai’s influence in the area . Season two focuses more on Daniel and Johnny building up their respective dojos and minor friends of Amanda, Miguel and Robby in season one have bigger roles in season two when they also pick sides in the high school karate wars. Seeing the dojos poke and prod at each other during the course of the season appropriately built up tensions in skirmishes in the mall and a house party before culminating in a epic 10 minute fight on the first day of school where apparently school security is worryingly laxed. The fallout of that tumultuous brawl for the ages has major ramifications for certain characters at the end of season two, and while season one closed on a mostly positive note for most characters, season two saw its finale swing in the other direction with most characters in precarious positions.
Tumblr media
I dug season two almost as much as season one and liked how the kids were a bigger emphasis in the sequel season and we got to see more of the periphery characters shine in the second season. The adults still play a big role in the follow-up season with Danny patching up squabbles with the wife, and Johnny having a standout episode where he reunites with his fellow Cobras in a ‘special’ heartfelt episode. Krese is still as ruthless as ever and wears Cobra Kai’s motto, “No Mercy” on his sleeve. Watching both dojos try to expand their rosters and quarrel at school during the daytime got both my brother and I riled up as we anticipated everything would come to a boil at another karate tournament, but were thrown for a loop for the gratifying over-the-top fight scene at the school. Again, the consequences for that big fight were felt in the closing scenes of season two with a few added little twists that put the future of Cobra Kai and Miagi-do in jeopardy for season three. Speaking of Mr. Miagi, while Pat Morita passed away long ago, I will give props to how Cobra Kai has his presence remained a glowing constant on the show with frequent references and past clips implemented at poignant moments throughout the series. Almost every episode of Cobra Kai has quick clips and callbacks to the original movies, even The Next Karate Kid got a couple subtle nods (the Jaden Smith/Jackie Chan reboot got ret-conned out of cannon according to producer interviews). By the end of season two I was surprised how deep the writers and producers pulled for references and periphery characters that made a return, and I am grateful they peppered in brief shots of the original films to remind me of them.
Tumblr media
There are a fair amount of extras for both seasons. The first season only has 20 minutes of bonuses with deleted scenes, audition reads, interviews with the composers for the series and two musical performances from William Zabka’s band. Season three has almost double the extras and aside from a gag reel and deleted scenes it also features more extended behind-the-scenes specials covering both season’s fight choreography, character profiles and a very handy feature highlighting most of the references to the earlier films. Not a boatload of extras by any means, but what is here is pretty good and I will give props to YouTube for not being content with only the episodes on disc. I recall giving the cold shoulder to Cobra Kai initially thinking there was no way they could pull this off after all these years. I got there was a little bit of Johnny Lawrence nostalgia going on with some of the commercial spots of the character several years back, but in no way was I prepared to be blown away by how good Cobra Kai is and how it recaptured the same underdog spirit that made me love it in my childhood. Nor was I prepared for how they would introduced a new generation of students that won me over as much as Johnny and Daniel did three decades prior and made their journeys equally as riveting as Johnny and Daniel’s. Do not brush off Cobra Kai like I initially did and at the very least give the first episodes that are currently free on YouTube a shot.
