I bought a cushion for my fireside chair with a mouse from Beatrix Potter's Tailor of Gloucester and it's the best financial investment I've made in a while, I smile every time I see it
#i found this book i don't remember where when i was 10ish and tried to read it. very audacious seeing as i knew like 50 words of english#i skimmed through it looking for words i recognised. mouse. snow. coat etc#then i encountered the phrase ''worsted chenille'' and it was the last straw#i knew what worst means. it means very bad. it's in past tense for some reason. and chenille is a caterpillar. in french for some reason#and this doesn't make the sentence any more intelligible! i thought it was about clothes? wasn't this guy making a coat#what role does the worst caterpillar play in this project#it was demoralising i felt like english & i would never work. you can know the words and they still don't make sense#the words worsted chenille have haunted me ever since

But I drew this guy Once and that was it#I went ‘yeah that’s my boy. that works’#i mostly went with what i envisioned though i did check the first chapter again to see if it said anything contradicting my design#and it did say Aaron had short hair but you know what? I really want him to have a little ponytail#I think he deserves a little ponytail#so i kept the ponytail#i was originally going to draw him with his silly little coat and add a heck ton of details#but the pose didn’t work out#There’s always next time!#with his current clothes his sash i guess is the most important part?#in the first chapter it talks about Aaron’s knife had been clad in black&gold previously#I assume in reference to the Man#Though I might be wrong#i binge-read the book in like three days#the details have escaped me#but yeah I did the sash with those colors because I thought it’d be cool#anyways i believe that’s most of it#i also have a bunch of doodles i made for warmup before this#that i’m also going to share at some point#i hope you like it!

Do you ever see a video and immediately go look up the book for purchase? I am wanting to try working on a smaller scale, by machine and by hand, and I have a Liccachan and some other dolls of a similar size range who need some custom clothing. I’m so looking forward to this book delivery.
These were my favorite looks. I love an Alice in Wonderland dress, and it can be made into a maid dress in black! The retro dress seems to have lined sleeves, which means no need for a tiny hem. And the little red riding hood dress has a drop waist perfect for 1920’s looks :)

#travel tag#ace is a mess#yes im wearing my new oodie as my blanket i prioritise comfort over appearance#yes my travel book was in my oodie pocket with my earphones wrapped around it and my hoodie which i will use as a pillow was folded inside#my oodie which was then folded and tied by the sleeves to my backpack which is filled with clothes to act as a comfier prop/cushion#instead of wearing all that i wore my coat which had my travel snacks in the pockets but the nylon/polyester whatever material#doesnt make for a particularly comfy makeshift blanket or pillow so it goes in the overhead when im on the coach#tip wear a beanie when you travel mot only does the state of your hair no longer matter cus its hidden but#you can pull it down over your eyes as a makeshift sleep eyemask for travel naps
