How gorgeous is the sunrise? I'm not normally up early enough for this but had to drive 3 hours before work at 8am so I had no choice. Got to catch up with @humblepoet26 this weekend too! We really need to start getting photos together.

It continues to give me the warm fuzzies that basically every person at work has said they'll miss me. And it's not really utility, even if I'm useful; I am not in a critical position. There are many people who can do the things I do, even if the majority are less experienced. I'm not management, or a lynchpin, just a long-time worker bee.
But people like me, and I just handled a Crisis Situation well enough that the AD took the time to personally thank me, and my manager was like 'not only am I willing to be a reference you can use my personal phone number if that's easier' and even some of the newest additions said they're going to miss me on desk, and I just.
I love my job and my coworkers and it's really nice that the people there know it and love me back.
#I told mom about Crisis Situation#and tonight when dad got home she was like COME IN AND TELL YOUR DAD#and then both of them were like WHEN COMPANY COMES NEXT WEEK TELL THEM TOO#haha#I mean dad did follow it up with 'no you may not drive across the country alone we will figure something out'#I'm gonna work on him about it we tried the thing where all of us are in one vehicle#Tuesday screamed the whole time and mom wanted to kill her and also me#I shall remind him of that#I think he will probably come around#if I could convince someone to come with I would probably make it an actual road trip#'come to TX for the eclipse!'#'we will drive through the deep south and hit some Neat Shit and then go up the coast!'#like you could make that a fun drive#I'm not gonna do the long version if I'm solo tho bc my parents are convinced I will be murdered#which is silly; I have not infrequently been in Situations and strangers have been kind#also the odds of getting strangermurdered for no damn reason are SO low#and the incentives to murder Me Specifically are also very low#and if a white cishet-passing woman dies 90% of the time it's a romantic partner and I'm aroace so like#I really wonder what they're imagining is gonna happen#babble tea (blacklist this for less chatter)#tea writes tag novels

Every time I see an out of state license plate on the back of the car that's causing ridiculous amounts of traffic in my town I go ballistic very quietly
#we're a pretty popular tourist town and it SUCKS#GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR SPRING BREAK#GO TO SOME OTHER BEACH IN SOME OTHER STATE#I HEAR THAT THE GULF COAST IS LOVELY#if you come here any you dont know how to drive in the rain im exploding you with my mind#if you go ridiculously slow or break with nobody in front of you or you start swerving all over the road I HATE YOU#AND ITS ONLY TOURISTS#DO YOU FORGET HOW TO DRIVE THE SECOND VACATION STARTS?? ARE YOU TAKING A BREAK FROM ROAD LAWS TOO???#GET TO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO#AND USE TURN SIGNALS#I CANT TELL YOU HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN REAR ENDED OR SLAMMED INTO BC THEY NEVER PUT ON THEIR TURN SIGNALS#and if you do an abrupt stop in the middle of the highway. for ANY reason other than that youre trying to spare some poor animal or person#from being hit. GET OFF THE ROAD. PLEASE#YHE RAGE THAT FILLS MY BODY WHEN PEOPLE WHO APPARENTLY HAVE FORGOTTEN ROAD ETIQUETTE WALK RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME#WHILE IM TRYING TO DRIVE TO THE GROCERY STORE

dear diary i had a marvelous birthday roadtrip wherein i
had a terrible sinus infection
drove eight hours then waited for a boat for four then saw my best friend’s new place for the first time four hours after that and immediately fell asleep in her bed
hiked for three days (trees trees trees) and swam in a glacial lake
sauna’d
got surprised by a delicious cake while topless (see above)
identified a DOZEN plants for the first time from the trip (and ate so many berries)
bought a great deal of pottery and a nice linen dress
surprised family with a visit <3
saw juvenile barn swallows (v silly beaks)
had old silverware fobbed off on me and decoded the makers marks to learn i have 208-year-old teaspoons! thanks ancestors
drove 1735 kms
got to come back and see home with the fresh peepers you only get when you’ve gone away for a little bit
#AND i came back to birthday letters#ok they weren’t all meant to be birthday letters but i’m taking them as such#dear diary#sorry for using my blog to actually blog all#extremely undignified i know etc#it was! so good!#i am so lucky!#i love road trips!#i love driving!#i love forest and ranchland and coast!!#i love friend's beds!#i love walking in the woods!#i love making new acquaintances with plants!#i love eating seedy wild berries and washing in streams!#i love sweating and cold showers and cakes!#i love surprises! i love home-laziness!#i love teenage birds and half-forgotten family heirlooms!#i love early mornings and solo missions and cataloguing different gas station vibes!#i love a winding mountain road!#a desert coffee shop!#a home to see anew!

Marty can’t help but smile when, out of the corner of his eye, he sees @ensnchekov stretch and yawn.
“Hey, Pasha,” he greets, gesturing with his free hand to the sky just starting to lighten, his other hand keeping snugly hold of the truck’s steering wheel, eyes fixed on the highway ahead. “We still got a while if you wanna go back to sleep.”
#ic.#ensnchekov#dynamic [pavel chekov.]#verse one.#[ooc] here me out: road trip to la for a concert or the coast for an ocean beach day??#[ooc] it’s like a six hour trip since hill valley is apparently near the sierra nevadas#[ooc] which also means marty has probably been driving all night#[ooc] ANYWAYS THEY’RE IMPORTANT TO ME

Domaine Carneros, CA (No. 4)
The X-Factors And yet, méthode traditionnelle is only one important factor in our finished product. As with all great wines, the difference begins in the vineyards. The finest sparkling wines are crafted from cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and our homebase of Carneros, just like Champagne, France, is considered "Region 1," the coolest of the five designated regions. Our grapes are also harvested in the cool of the night to ensure minimal bitterness and tannin in the resulting juice.
Once in the winery cellar, it’s time for blending. Our sparkling wines are first made like still wines, which are then blended into cuvées -arguably the most crucial step in the sparkling winemaking process. Sparkling winemaker Zak Miller and his team taste through every single vineyard block and fermentation and then carefully select the ones that will come together to create the best wine possible. "Bringing everything together so each blend has its own signature and personality is something I enjoy very much," says Zak. "There is no recipe, it's really about relying on my experience and passion to create something that will evolve in bottle and emerge as a wine that will bring people joy."
And Now, for the Long Finale Once the blends have been established, we start the long, patient process of méthode traditionnelle. The best known distinction of this technique from other sparkling wine processes is that the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle. Tirage, the addition of sugar and yeast to each bottle, is what ignites the second fermentation and creates those lovely little bubbles.
Our vintage-dated sparkling wines are aged in the bottle for at least three years, while the esteemed Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs is aged a full six years. Even three years is a rarity among sparkling wine houses, but the extra time on the lees (spent yeast cells) yields the rich complexity, seamless balance and delicious mouth-feel for which Domaine Carneros wines are known and loved.

regardless whether or not I get into grad school i'm basically committed to not doing much for the next year so I kinda wanna go on a solo road trip 🤔 thinking thoughts
#i actually really love driving ill go on mini road trips all the time within the state#so i think a planned one across multiple states would be fun#i need to do some kind of sight seeing vacation for sure 🤣#genuinely though i have no one to go with though OTL my social circle isnt very big and i dont think#theres anyone who would commit to road tripping with me#but i dont mind going solo although admittedly it is kinda scary...#if i end up getting into grad school on the east coast i wonder if its worth road tripping that far so i can bring my car...#0.txt
