Sun Magick
What Is A Sun Magick?
The Sun (also called Sol) is the one and only star in our solar system. Throughout the time almost every culture has worshiped the Sun as either a God or Goddess. Ancient Shamans used the power of the sun to heal the mind. The Sun is associated with life, health and healing. The light of guidance and illumination is an important magickal symbol. Solar energy helps you center in your own power, like the center of the solar system. Planet Earth orbits around the Sun. Other bodies that orbit the Sun include other planets, asteroids, meteoroids, comets and dust. Generally, the primary stellar body around which an object orbits is called its "sun", and stars in a multiple star system are referred to as the "suns" of bodies in that system.

Sun Phases
Sunrise
when the sun wakes up and peers over the horizon. This phase is all about new beginnings, changes, health, employment, renewal, resurrection and finding the right direction.
The Morning
the sun is growing in strength, so it brings the magical power for growth, positive energy, resolutions, courage, harmony, happiness, strength, activity, building projects and plans, prosperity and expansion of ideas.
High Noon
When the sun reaches its peak in the sky at midday – work magic for health, physical energy, wisdom and knowledge. It is also a good time to pop your tools or crystals out that need charging. (Note: some crystals can fade in strong sunlight so check first before putting them out).
Afternoon
This is a time to work in your communication, clarity, travel, exploration and professional matters
Sunset
As the sun takes itself off down below the horizon, work magic for removing depression, stress and confusion, letting go, releasing or finding out the truth of a situation.
Sun Water
Sun water is very similar to moon water. But rather than being charged by the moon, it’s charged by the sun. Sun water can be especially useful for helping boost the energy of a spell, to help an intention grow, and to cleanse.
Instructions:
Get a glass bottle
Fill it with any type of water.
Leave the bottle with water out in the sunlight or shade (indirect sunlight) during any time of day and for your preferred amount of time.

Altars For The Greek Gods
Hello, My name is Alva Tauri! I am an herbalist, spirit worker, tarot and oracle reader, and lunar and herbal witch dedicated to closing the education gap when it comes to herbalism and witch practices!
Today, I wanted to talk about ways in which I connect with the Gods and deities I worship in my life via my altar, as well as some of those Greek gods that I do not have a direct connection with to help those who are just starting!
NOTE: I did already say this above but I am going to say it again, I only work with (as far as Greek gods go) Hades, Apollo, and Dionysus. The Masks We Wear (8)
Az stood stuck in the clove-scented chambers.
Why was it so nice here? Why was there comfort so deep in the house of Beron’s cruelty?
The idea that even barren deserts get rain sometimes struck him differently. Maybe there was joy and love in Autumn.
If it was here, then it was probably other places too.
Like Spring.
And the Hewn City.
The thought shook him to his core, and he physically shuddered to rid himself of the guilt associated with leaving other Dreamers like himself in places that stifled them.
He wandered through the cavernous chambers slowly, taking in every detail.
There was a large dog bed by the hearth.
The bookshelves that lined the walls were covered in trinkets and portrait frames, all tasteful but filled with paintings of what looked to be the Vanserra brothers when they were younger.
All seven of them.
The largest boy, presumably the eldest, held a babe in one of the portraits - it was in the largest frame, hung delicately over a desk in the corner of the room.
Eris. Holding Lucien.
He had to have been maybe thirteen in that portrait - Azriel thought back to when he first met the heir of Autumn.
Yes, he thought, thirteen.
He remembered meeting the Autumn Court heir that day in the Hewn City, with Rhysand’s father watching him like a hawk. His shadowsinging abilities had been recognized and reported on by Rhysand’s mother, and his father had made quick work of recruiting him into his service as his Illyrian training continued.
Cassian was irate.
Rhysand was jealous.
And Azriel was tired.
But that day, when Rhysand’s father called him to Kier’s domain for a meeting with Autumn, his orders were very clear.
Be aloof, give nothing away - valuable or not, and stay fucking silent.
So even though he normally would have given the younger male a small smile, maybe even offered his scarred hand to shake as per custom regardless of his insecurities, Azriel stayed aloof. And reserved. And quiet.
He noticed the portrait of just two of the Vanserra brothers - the two oldest, though they themselves were babies.
What was that one’s name again?
Before Azriel could recall, he heard a few sets of footsteps rapidly approaching the study. He rushed through an open door off the main chamber, closing the door quickly and silently only to find himself hiding in the shadows of a beautifully plush bedroom.
It smelled like Autumn personified.
A gold four poster bed was draped in white gauze, and the bed was dressed in white linens with furs and an auburn quilt thrown haphazardly over the foot of the mattress. There were pillows galore, and the sheets smelled like cloves and some sort of cedar.
The cedar scent wasn’t native to this room though, not like the clove-scent of whoever lived here. For it had embedded every fiber of these four walls and everything inside of it. In contrast, the cedar scent had been placed there on purpose, on one dented pillow and just that pillow alone, as if spreading it further was both impossible and painful for its inhabitant.
He sent shadows throughout the room, if only to investigate how that particular scent got there.
There is a bottle of cologne in the nightstand drawer.
That solved it, he supposed as his shadows kept mumbling,
And a bottle of lubricating oil, much like the type you keep in your bedside table.
That was quite enough, Azriel thought, cheeks reddening besides himself.
Why was he embarrassed? He was alone, in a foreign place, feeling shame for what? Masturbating in his own home?
He told himself to shut the fuck up, and listened closely to the conversation that the nearing voices were having as they entered the room he had just exited.
Azriel had heard these voices before - they were those of the Vanserra brothers.
He had only ever met Eris and Lucien, and had long since presumed that the other five were as cold as their eldest brother.
But as they spoke and cooed at the pups they’d brought with them - those of the exquisite smokehounds of Autumn, if Azriel were to guess - he was forced to change his assumptions.
For they were gentle with each other. One would ask how the other’s wife was, and cared about the answer. One asked another of the health of their second babe. Another was intrigued about someone’s travels, and was gifted a trinket from a foreign court, seemingly Summer.
They all received gifts from that brother, all variations of shells and glass and wine and gold.
Tarquin’s realm had served them well.
Odd, Azriel thought, for Autumn Court fae to have an affinity for Summer.
Relatable though. He had always thought Tarquin’s realm too hot and sticky, but had long-since relished in the beauty of those few weeks of summer in Illyria at his mother’s cabin, where he’d vanish off to yearly without word.
A perk of his job, he supposed.
To walk without others hearing. To watch and observe without being noticed.
To see his mother without anyone thinking to inquire.
Some part of him wished someone would - his brothers, their mates, or just their friends in general. Hell, even his spies.
But he was typically unnoticeable, and had made a career out of being just that.
So as he stood in that luxurious bedroom, smelling the most comforting scents he’d ever smelled and contemplating why he was so unmissable, Azriel frowned.
He should leave, he thought to himself. It would be as simple as winnowing away to somewhere deeper in the Forest House.
But he didn’t leave. Couldn’t.
The conversation in the other room was too fascinating.
The hearth’s gentle warmth was too comforting.
The scent of this bedding was too inviting.
So he stayed and listened and breathed and relaxed for once - even though it was against all of his training. For he knew, for some unknown reason, he was safe even though all evidence would tell him he wasn’t.
It was as if this bedroom was impenetrable by anything other than comfort and cool air.
So Az breathed and breathed, and when the voices died down once again and the footsteps disappeared down the halls of the Forest House, Azriel stayed.
In fact, he had his shadows ward the door, and against all of his best judgment, he succumbed to the primal urge to sleep.
So he did.
He warded the doors, instructed his shadows to wake him if there was danger, and then he slept in that plush four poster bed that smelled of cloves and an old spritz of cedar cologne, and he didn’t bother to wonder why he had the best night sleep of his life that night.
When he rose, it was quick and with shame, and he was gone and in the sky over Velaris moments after he woke up.
By the time he landed, discombobulated and ashamed on Rhysand’s lawn, his cheeks were the color of Cassian’s siphons.
___
It took weeks for Eris to return home, knowing that Beron had been deathly serious in telling him not to return without results.
He’d secured the trade routes but had not soothed Helion’s suspicion.
Eris had fielded too many thinly-veiled questions about his mother’s wellbeing, and was exhausted from playing courtier by the time he made it through the halls of the Forest House, entering his own chambers quietly.
He walked through his sitting room first, though it was mostly a library with a touch of office and a large helping of dog kennel.
Something was off.
By the time he saw his rumpled sheets and smelled the air, he knew exactly what.
For some unknown fucking reason, Azriel had been here.
In his bed.
By the smell of it, weeks prior.
So instead of bathing after traveling in Helion’s hot air, and winnowing miles and miles on sheer willpower, Eris crawled into bed - if only to breathe in Azriel’s real scent on his sheets rather than the cologne he’d bought and sprayed nightly as a small, private indulgence to his baser needs.
He fell into his dreams quickly and without fanfare, and when he woke it was with the haunting realization that he’d never slept so well in his life.

TROLLISH CUISINE
(Here it is...by far the least appetizing of all the cuisine posts. WARNING: Disgusting content ahead!)
OVERVIEW
Trolls are naturally immune to almost all viruses, parasites, and high bacterial loads. This gives them a serious edge in survival, as they can safely eat many things that other peoples cannot, including rancid meat, toxic vegetation, and even manure. Trolls don’t like things that taste or smell “fresh”, and instead prefer very strong, putrid, and bitter flavors. The following are dishes that are eaten by trollish communities all over the World of Looming Gaia.
PLOPSLOP
The manure of a herbivorous animal, mixed with rotten milk, garlic cloves, and half-composted vegetables. The smell alone is enough to clear a room, but trolls find this strong odor as pleasant as the dish’s powerful taste.
REDJ
A redj is simply an egg that has been left to rot in its shell, then served once it has developed a putrid stench. Alternatively, redj can be prepared by cracking an egg in a bowl and covering it to seal in the moisture while it rots. Both methods produce similar results, but some trolls swear by one over the other to produce the best flavor.
GRSSI
A slab of meat is placed into a bowl with some blood. Flies eventually gather and lay their eggs upon it as it ages. These eggs hatch into grubs, which begin digesting the meat and excreting acidic juices that give it a particular flavor. Once the meat is completely infested, the dish is served, grubs and all.
URIZLUUK
Urizluuk is a traditional alcoholic beverage that originated with Skadrik tribes in the Red Tundra, but quickly caught on with other trollish cultures worldwide. It is the fermented urine of a male goat mixed with ethanol. It has a high alcohol content that can get even heavyweight species drunk quickly, as well as a very bitter and sour flavor. In a pinch, the goat urine may be substituted for the urine of a male satyr, which is said to have a similarly unique flavor.
VOLZKRIZ
Animal blubber (typically from a whale or seal) is boiled with chopped up fish skins and then left to cool, forming a gelatinous chunk. The chunk is left to ferment for extra flavor. This dish originated with the coastal Skadgrik tribes of Halostira, but today, many variants of it are served worldwide.
ZLUB
This is not a meal in itself, but a sauce that is used to enhance other foods in trollish cuisine. To make it, slugs and snails are boiled to separate the slime from their bodies, then the bodies are pureed and mixed back in with the slime. Rancid vegetable oil and bitter herbs are added, such as chicory and dandelion, forming a very sticky, flavorful paste. This recipe originated with the Hukus troll tribes of Northern Wokina, but today it is popular in other moist climates where mollusks are plentiful.
DUKLEKA
The preparation of this dish is highly controversial due to concerns about animal cruelty. In order to make it, captive rats are fed nothing but garlic. The garlic is not good for them, and kills them within a matter of days. The dead and sick rats are then force-fed to a pig-hawk, which had its cloaca sewn shut prior. The garlic-filled rats ferment in the bird’s intestines until it dies of bloat, then its intestines are eaten as a delicacy. This is one of the very few trollish dishes that can be eaten by other peoples, but even so, not many are willing to try it.
AKWI
Raw fish heads, left out in the sun for days until they putrify, then further flavored with salt, rancid butter, and onions. Sometimes the fish heads are substituted for other sea life, such as clams. Preparing this dish is easy; the hard part is defending it from wild animals while it lies in the sun, as its smell reaches far and wide. It is often placed in a covered pot to seal in moisture and hide it from pests.

Quest For Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness | Part 3
The Adventurer' Log
A new day in Mordavia.
I ate some breakfast--laced with garlic--and headed out to the Burgomeister being surprised I was still alive and here. How comforting. I chatted with him again. Nikolai won't accept Anna is gone, but he did say missing, so maaaybe she's not actually dead? He noted there used to only be wyverns around but now there's lots of monsters. He thinks Dr. Cranium is a madman.
I went to the general store and had more questions to ask Olga. Dr. Cranium is a very strange man with strange experiments in his back room that no ones knows about except perhaps for Igor who won't talk. Igor helps Dr. Cranium at night and she thinks he's up to no good. There was some kind of scandal with the burgomeister's grandmother long ago... Otherwise nothing new. So, I did some shopping.
I bought five rations -- avocado and garlic sandwiches... I also got a shopping bag, another clove of garlic, a couple candies, oil, the broom and pie pan. Basically something of everything she had on offer. Better to have now than need and not have later!
I was a bit of a loss for what exactly to do next. So, I decided to go try talking to Igor again. Maybe I could get the key or clue about a key for Dr. Cranium's door off him? I couldn't even ask him about anything to do with Dr. Cranium, but when I asked about rumours he said he not know anything, he not know Olga's husband ran off years back. Oops.
I've heard about the cemetery a few times now, so I decided to go see if I could find that.
On my way I got startled by a hawk. Then I arrived at the cemetery and a gravestone got hit by lightning?? Which startled me again. I couldn't see anything significant about the grave though.
A climbable tree.
In other words: Not Me.
No. This was said so gravely too.
Aside from that, there was also the Borgov Crypt of which the door could be interacted with. Surprisingly my Open spell worked and caused more lightning strikes but those could just be a special effect (narrator's words, not mine!) and I entered...
I looked at the Borgov crest, but I assumed I'd need more information first...
I found a keyhole in one of the knight sculptures so I was thinking solving the crest may reveal a key for it? I still tried an Open spell but it was locked by stronger magic than mine.
I checked the crest again and while poking around it I guess accidentally got a hint to check the way the family name was given outside the crypt. When I kept fiddling it warned me not to do that unless I needed another hint. Whoops. That said as soon he said it I realized, Borgov as in: Blue, orange, red, green, orange, violet. I still went outside to double check I hadn't missed anything else, and Igor was here. Not much to tell me though except he has the key to the crypt, but don't disturb it. Well, too late for that and I don't need they key which he wasn't about to give me anyway.
Borgov in colours was indeed the answer and it did reveal a key which I used on the statue which revealed a path deeper into the mountains that led to a castle chamber.
Um, I don't know if I should be doing this, but I guess I'm here now!
I found a bent candle on the chandelier that opens the passageway back up, so I was relieved to not be stuck at least.
I tried one of the doors and it creaked loudly. So... oil may be in order here. Nothing happened this time, but... But everything was loud and scary. I could also look through all the doors' keyholes or listen at them.
I went through a couple rooms and found a tower and got attacked by bats. And I got poisoned. And I have no form of healing... nothing to do but press on! Even though I don't know why I'm here!
At the top was a room with a bookshelf on top of which was a crooked crest I could turn for another secret passage.
This place felt huge. I felt lost quite quickly. The poison wore off though.
A stained glass wheel pattern. That may be important... I didn't figure out how at this time.
The other door led to more tower stairs down, and goons at the bottom. As I turned right back around to get out of there, I got to hear a conversation and it's probably a damn good thing I oiled the hinges. Though I may have missed a death. I didn't think to reload to try. I was basically a walking ball of tension in there the whole time.
The Master is a She. There's a kid they like but she's being kept all the way on the other side of the castle. And...
Ad Avis... they don't like him. Good to confirm he is here.
They're guarding a dungeon even though it's empty (good to know), because that's their job and what else would they do?
I guess I needed to find my way to the other side of the castle.
I found another interesting room. There was even some money in the cabinet. They'd all been empty so far. More importantly:
A giant safe. I used my Open spell, which set off a small explosion... I took some damage but survived. That said, let's try that at a distance this time. Yeah, that was better.
15 crowns! That's a whole lotta money. A pity about the papers being deteriorated.
Moving on, I had a ghost pass through me, eek.
(once again, questioning if I should even be here...)
I found the main hall. From there a bedroom that appeared not to have been used a in a long time for the dust on everything and the mortared up window. There was a chest. I went for it. A ghost appeared.
It turned into a fight.
I got my ass handed to me.
I tried again with a Calm spell (you never know) and an Open spell which set off another trap, but the ghost attacked again. Leaving that place alone for now.
From the main hall it was a quick way back to where I started. On one hand, good. On the other, uhhh what now? I got a little information, but I didn't exactly find anything though I may have missed some rooms.
Still, the sun was starting to get low and I didn't want to get caught out at night, so I went back to town. Maybe I'd be able to get new info.
I was able to tell Olga about the Gatekeeper--turns out he's Boris Stovich, so her husband wasn't just dead or gone like I thought. He's a good for nothing according to her and if I see him again to tell him "he's a lazy louse and swamp scum besides." I suppose I should go talk to him again too. The next day... when night isn't coming.
She wants me to to keep telling her about my adventures. Someone has to stay informed. Or be ready to gossip. She's definitely been my rumour mill here.
Which, speaking of, I asked her about rumours. The innkeeper's daughter was stolen by the gypsies, she thinks.
The last Borgov disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
About vampires: it's said the strangers at the castle are never seen by day and can't stand the smell of garlic.
About Nikolai: his wife went missing before even Olga was married. Probably eaten by something. He's been crazy since.
I went to see the burgomeister. He still seems exasperated and mistrustful with me but getting more willing to talk! I asked about Mordavia and got some more information. There's a lovely lake southwest of town that used to be popular but he doesn't know what it's like now. Southeast is Erana's Garden.
If I get caught at night too far from town I should get there for safety. He doesn't really want something to happen to me; he is warming up! I assume this is like Erana's Peace. He didn't want to talk about Erana's death though. He even said to be careful in the forest when I left!
Back to the inn with me for more garlic and veggie stew. And another talk with the three farmers. They waxed poetical about elephants when I asked.
They used to herd them. Wonderful times. Good times. Lovely creatures, except when kicking down houses in over-excitement. Sad times stop talking about it.
They remind me just a little bit of the men of low moral fiber in Secret of Monkey Island...
I decided to go to bed but it wasn't late enough to actually sleep the night away so I did some experimenting with magic in my room where I am allowed to cast. And I tried to levitate.
Potential to levitate in and out of my window at night? I waited around until night and tried. It did work!
There didn't seem to be much around at night right now, but at the monastery I got:
There wasn't anything different inside.
Still, knowing I can levitate in and out of my window to get in and out at night when everything's locked up is very good to know. The ledge below the window I was paranoid is maybe for thieves and fighters?
After that little nightly stroll, it was bedtime.
Day 3. I figured since I didn't know what else to do, I'd go check out some of these points of interest. I'd like to know about that lake and I definitely wanted to find Erana's Garden asap. There was also the gypsy camp... And I wanted to go to talk to Boris the Gatekeeper.
Before I left town I did a quick round of NPCs and got a little more about the monastery from Igor.
Then it was time to go.
Boris first.
I told him about Olga. He blushed, but then added that she was always opinionated and he got tired of her complaints.
So you just vanished on her??
Nothing more came of that. At least not yet. Maybe I'll be able to talk more about him with Olga when I'm next back there.
I really wanted to find Erana's Garden next. Besides curiosity, given how often I went to Erana's Peace in the first game, I can only assume knowing where the garden is here will be nothing but a good thing. Plus there could be something useful there.
So, next time it's really time to start exploring this place. Garden, lake and possibly camp. Or whatever else I stumble over anyway.

Clove: Part 20 - Trapped, Trapped, Run
The new and improved version of duck duck goose.
Masterlist - Part 19
Content: (Heavy one today) Werewolf whumpee, human whumper, cuts and bruising, tormented, side character death, (somewhat graphic and definitely gross) creepy whumper, vampire whumpee, fae whumper, angst, emotional manipulation, implied noncon/dubcon
.............................................................
“Voicebox, heart, liver….. Just have to be patient, Jack. You can be patient. Eyes, skin….. It will all be yours. All of it.”
Jack shifted where he crouched, invisible in the mists as he watched Hyrum. The werewolf pup started circling the ritual place, looking for a weakness to escape through. As if Jack would allow that. Years of preparation would not be wasted here.
“Voicebox, heart, liver,” Jack murmured, fingers twitching as he cast a wind to buffet Hyrum. His lips twitched as the pup stumbled, arms curled around his bare and bleeding torso. His eyes were so wide that Jack could see the whites from here. It made him hungry. “Eyes and skin. You can’t keep them much longer pup. They’re mine. They’re all mine. This land will be mine. That queen will be mine.”
He flicked a finger again, the gravel rising in waves and sending Hyrum to the ground, struggling to get back up.
Jack laughed lowly, entertained for now by tormenting the werewolf until he was too exhausted to keep defending himself. His concentration was broken by the sound of wings above.
He let the gravel fall still again as he looked up, seeing the shape above him. It appeared to be a fae with a hawk-like outline above him.
Jack gritted his teeth. He could hide himself from the pup in the ritual circle, but he couldn't keep hidden from the fae above him.
The fae whirled around, flying quickly away. Jack hissed to himself, standing up and dashing after the fae, gathering his energy and concentration as his ragged coat flew about behind him. He lifted his hand, growling ancient words of power, ill gotten and hard won, and the fae screeched, falling out of the sky.
To the fae’s credit, he rolled smoothly as he hit the ground, bouncing back up to his feet and running across the hills.
“No you don’t, pest,” Jack hissed. “I am the ruler of these lands? Don’t you understand that!?”
He threw his hand out, mushroom flesh enveloping the bird man’s legs. He screeched as he fell to the blue grass and thrashed as Jack caught up, straddling him.
Jack laughed maniacally as he tore the fae apart with long, jagged nails, blood and ichor welling up under his fingers as he ripped and shredded flesh and feathers alike, the dying sounds of the fae singing to him like a siren’s song.
When he was done, the pile of flesh, blood, and feathers was still, killed by the dark magic that infused every inch of Jack’s body. He panted, licking scraps of ribboned flesh off his fingers.
“A scout,” he said thoughtfully to himself. “From the queen? She will know what I intend to do. Not much time, then. Not much time at all.”
He stood up, stalking back through the mists towards the ritual place.
“The pup is mine. No more games. No more waiting.”
He stopped in place when he could see the ritual place again. It seemed there would be more waiting. The pup sat at the top of one of the tall obelisks, shrouded with the magic there, unintentionally finding the best place to be protected from Jack’s magic, even if he couldn’t get down the other side.
Jack snarled, stalking up to the obelisk. “Get down here!”
Hyrum looked down, face set in a hard, fierce expression.
“We’ll do this the hard way, then,” Jack said in a low tone.
…………………………………………………
Ephraim had been in the bathroom a long time after Benny had given him new clothing and showed him the way silently. Ephraim had been fuming the whole way, so Benny decided to stay quiet, but he couldn’t take it anymore.
He knocked on the door and cleared his throat. “Hey, Ephraim? Can we talk?”
There was silence for a long moment on the other side.
“Eef?”
“Oh, you want to talk to me now?” Ephraim replied, sulkily on the other side over the sound of the shower.
“Well…. Yeah,” Benny said nervously. “I’m sorry, really. I know I made a mistake now…. Are you done? Can you come out here to talk?”
“No.”
“Ephraim! Come on. I don’t remember you being so sulky-”
“I have had a very bad day today, Benny. I don’t want to talk about this.”
‘Benny.’ So he wasn’t too mad… hopefully.
“I-I know. You were here for another kid, right?”
“..... Goldenrod. His name is Goldenrod. He’s a werewolf pup I’ve kind of adopted.”
Benny tapped his fingers gently against the door. “What’s he like?” Who did Ephraim choose to have live in his house after Benny was taken?
“Quiet. He’s been coming out of his shell lately. He’s a very sweet pup. Why do you want to know?”
“Just… cause. I missed you.”
Ephraim hummed. “Not enough, apparently.”
“Oh, come on, Eef!” Benny said, exasperated now. “You know the fae are complicated! Living with them is complicated! Being married to one even more so!”
“You’re smart, Benny. You could have figured it out.”
Benny felt something he hadn’t experienced in a while. Something he had been ignoring, rather. Guilt curled in his stomach. There wasn’t much to feel guilty about living in the fae courts. Everyone acted according to their nature and everyone expected as such. No need for guilt here. He’d forgotten how unpleasant it felt. He could have found a way. The courts had made him lazy. His wife had made him feel whole and complete, like there was nothing to worry about or work on. It was the way of the courts. He was a little startled to remember how much he had hated that at first, being stuck on such a plateau of growth, but he’d just gotten used to it after a while.
“I’ll message Margie as soon as we find your pup,” Benny said, more of a promise to himself than to Ephraim. “I promise.”
“Was your wife keeping you from coming back? From sending anything?”
“In the beginning, yeah,” Benny said, another uncomfortable twinge in his stomach. He didn’t like being reminded of the time he spent as her pet rather than as her beloved husband. He didn’t like being reminded that his wife didn’t treat everyone well all of the time.
“You never thought of escaping?”
“I can’t escape. I ate their food. It’s-”
“You never tried?”
Benny felt another sinking sensation in his guts. No. He never had. He’d assumed that to be the truth and made the best of the situation.
Ephraim seemed to sense the answer. “I’m done with this conversation. Leave me be, Benny.”
“Come on, Eef. I’m sorry, okay? This place has an effect on a person! Okay, I admit I might not have been strong enough to fight the effect, but you can’t seriously blame me, can you?”
The silence stretched on, grating on Benjamin’s ears. “I did miss you, really…. Time moves really weird here… like it does in those books you liked to get from the merchants. The fantasy ones. I still remember all of the books you read to me when I was a fledgling. That really helped, you know. You’d think you’d had a fledgling before me with how well you took care of me.”
He hoped the nostalgia would draw Ephraim back into the conversation, but the shower sounds continued on regardless.
“I think I’ll be able to convince my wife to send you home before you need anything to eat,” Benny said. “And I’ll see about visiting, I probably have been here for too long.”
He waited for a response, even an angry one. He just wanted Ephraim to say something.
“I don’t know what you want from me,” Benny said, suddenly feeling lonely and scared, like when he first arrived in this place. “Talk to me, please?”
He nearly jumped out of his skin when cool arms wrapped around his torso from behind. His wife rested her chin on his shoulder, humming softly as her antlers brushed up against his cheek. She was wearing her smaller form for him. He’d mentioned once that he’d always thought he’d marry someone shorter than him and she started wearing this form whenever they were alone after that. Her horns were much simpler and her body just a bit plumper, like the healthy women back in his village rather than the sickly stick-thin figure she presented to the courts.
“Hello love. Why are you talking to an empty room?” she purred.
“What?”
He pushed the door open, no regards for privacy anymore only to see Ephraim’s tattered clothing on the ground, the shower still running, and the window open and swaying guiltily in the breeze.
“I think he’s gone to find his pup,” she hummed. “I’m sure he’ll be fine. We should go have dinner, my love.”
“I have to go after him,” Benny said, trying to gently peel Inermis’s arms off of himself.
“Come now, stay, Benny. He can take care of himself. I can send more fae to help him,” she said, pouting and refusing to let go. “Come to the bedroom with me? We can have some fun.”
But Benny wasn’t listening to her, the worry and guilt growing in his stomach as he tried to free himself from her grasp. “Let me go! I need to go help him! There’s a sorcerer out there. Why aren’t you worried?”
“Oh, come on, sweetheart,” she said, moving like a snake to grab each of his wrists in an unbreakable grasp. “He’ll be fine. Come with me, please?”
Benny felt some of that pain in his stomach drift away, a comfortable mollifying mist falling over him despite the bruising grip she had on him. He nodded faintly, taking one last look at the open window before she dragged him off towards their bedroom.
………………………………..
The escape down the jagged side of the castle had been somewhat arduous and painful, but Ephraim had landed at the bottom, clean though cut up and aching. Still, he rolled up his sleeves, made sure his hair was pulled back after that slide and tumble down and took off across the landscape towards the smell of the vampire pit. If he could find that, he could find his way back to the entrance to the fae wilds and then go the direction Jack had taken Goldenrod.
“I’m coming,” Ephraim panted, running faster as he left the silent cobbled courtyard and got into the soft grass. “I’m coming!”

Elements: Air Edition
About the air element: The air element is linked to things such as divination, concentration, visualization, and prophecy. Air teaches us how to hone our scattered energy and focus it toward what we want. It teaches us to use our intention. Air can be a big cleanser and also a big charger. Just stand outside for a few momenrs on a windy day, letting it blow around you and play through your hair, and you will feel renewed.
Air in magic: The air element is often used in combination with smoke, feathers, trees, flowers, and plants. It is common to use the air element in both spells that require letting go, and in spells that bring you new information. After all, rumors can travel on the wind. Aromatherapy, hanging objects up, playing the flute or other woodwind instruments, and tossing things to the wind are all examples of using the air element in magic.
Forms of air include: wind, still air, breath, vibrations
Some air spirits include: Sylphs, zephyrs, faeries
Color: Yellow
Direction: East
Tools: Censer, athame, sword, wand
Tarot suit: Swords
Zodiac signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Symbol:
Air in daily life: The most obvious form of air in our daily lives is the air that we breathe. Everyone does it, everyone needs it. Speaking requires the element of air as well, as it carries the vibrations of our voices. We use air to cool off, and every time we look up at the clouds in the sky, we are interacting with the air element.
Air in the home: Similarly to how fire is used to keep our homes warm, air is used to keep them cool. Whether you are opening a window, turning on a fan, using an air conditioner, or fanning yourself with the playbill for your little brother's school performance of Legally Blonde in the stuffy auditorium, you are using air to cool yourself down. Air can also be very healing. How many times have you stepped outside to get some fresh air and take in the breeze while you were feeling sick?
Air in the kitchen: Though it may not be obvious at first, there are some cooking methods that utilize the air element. Perhaps the most common is drying, whether you are drying meat for jerkey or herbs for tea. Then there is cooking with convection heat, which is growing more popular, or cooking with microwaves. Also popular, as seen by the amount of fizzy beverages and whipped toppings available, is carbonation and aeration. There are several foods and ingredients associated with the air element, including~
Almond, anise, bamboo, brazil nut, caraway, chicory, dandelion, endive, hazel, hops, lavender, lime, mace, maple, marjoram, mint, mulberry, parsley, pecan, sage, acorn squash, artichoke, bitter melon, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, fennel, okra, rhubarb, spaghetti squash, alfalfa, cannelini beans, lima beans, mung beans, celery seed, chamomile, rosemary, scallions, amaranth, puffed rice, rye, apple, apricot, blackberry, currants, lingonberry, pear, pineapple, tamarind, pomegranate, black tea, chocolate, coffee, white vinegar, cabbage, celery, grape leaves, mustard greens, daikon, sunchoke, parsnip, hibiscus, macadamia nuts, walnuts, stevia
Herbs associated with air: Frankincense*, myrrh*, pansy, primrose, vervain, violet, yarrow, dill, clove, acacia, aspen, beech, benzoin*, bodhi, bracken, bromeliad, clover, fern, goldenrod, horehound, houseleek, mistletoe*, papyrus, pine, slippery elm, tobacco, rose petals
Stones associated with air: Fluorite, moonstone, turquoise, amethyst, rhodochrosite, topaz, pumice, alexandrite
Animals associated with air: Doves, hawks, eagles, foxes, turtles, ravens, spiders
Incense: Lavender, lemon balm, linden, frankincense, myrrh, violet, anise, chicory, mace, pine
Air on the altar ideas: yellow feathers, feathers in general, bird imagery, incense, censer, bells, flute, objects hanging above the altar
Divination with the air element: Nephomancy, austromancy, alveromancy, feather divination
Air work for spoonies:
Open up the window to watch the sky
Collect feathers or scatter them to the breeze
Keep a handheld fan nearby for when you need to create a breeze of your own
If you dont have your own windchimes, ring bells or listen to recordings of chimes on your phone
Use yellow pillowcases, blankets, sheets, curtains, or wall decorations
Hang beads or ribbons in your window
*Some herbs are unsafe or even deadly to ingest and can be dangerous to use. ALWAYS do research.

so im freaking out rn actually.
i noticed the girls were having a lot of trouble staying on the wheel and were being flung off it so i toed some fleece to the back to slow it down a bit.
and then i went to cook dinner bc i was confident nothing would happen in terms of the wheel
i came back up to check on them and i noticed clove acting a bit weird. when she fell off a platform by losing her balance she just contined to fall to the side.
so i immediately reached in and picked her up and... she had a seizure. or what im almost certain is a seizure. it was really scary and all i could do was watch as she seized in my hand not knowing if she was actually dying.
shes doing a bit of waltzing (not bad tho) and is just super puffy with her eyes closed.
even if i had a vet for them none of them would be open right now.
im just watching her like a hawk now, as long as shes up and moving im calm.
#i think she hit her head with a fall#because she has never done anything like this in the three months ive had her.#luckily all the other girls seem to notice something is wrong bc ginger and dhal were wtaching me the entire time i was inspecting clove#and all the new girlies have been gentle with her vs how they were attacking her at the beginning#i will endlessly horrible if she died because of this.
