Do we get two explanations for how the police officer (Dudley) dies? First is that Grody killed him (and is used as an alibi for Grody & how there is more than one killer abroad) and the other is that Terry did it (and he openly admits it) - the second option is clearly the correct one, given the confession, but it just felt odd that there's not even a nod back to the first red herring.

Feeling bold enough to say thanks to @taylortruther’s anon answers today that I’m kind of glad the muse question is so murky/questionable/mixed/however you want to put it on TTPD if it makes listeners understand that Taylor is a storyteller first and foremost and the narratives she tells in her music don’t need to be literal or linear or obvious for the songs to be powerful and meaningful.

The events may or may not always be truthful* but the emotions always are and that’s what matters. It is art, not a deposition, and for that we should all be grateful that she can paint a picture so beautifully.

he huffs, signing wait. you pause with confusion before he shuffles forward so two of his fingers could rest on your throat. he feels you swallow and a little grin writes itself upon his face. he gives you a tiny nod to continue. and he smiles at the heavy buzzing against his digits.
