UK secures Ā£6.3B in data infrastructure investments
.pp-multiple-authors-boxes-wrapper display:none; img width:100%;
Four major US firms have announced plans to invest a combined Ā£6.3 billion in UK data infrastructure.Ā
The announcement, made during the International Investment Summit, was welcomed by Technology Secretary Peter Kyle as a ā€œvote of confidenceā€ in Britainā€™s approach to partnering with businesses to drive growth.
CyrusOne, ServiceNow, CloudHQ, and CoreWeave have all committed to substantial investments, bringing the total investment in UK data centres to over Ā£25 billion since the current government took office. These new facilities will provide the UK with increased computing power and data storage capabilities, essential for training and deploying next-generation AI technologies.
ā€œTech leaders from all over the world are seeing Britain as the best place to invest with a thriving and stable market for data centres and AI development,ā€ stated Kyle.
The largest single investment comes from Washington DC-based CloudHQ, which plans to develop a Ā£1.9 billion data centre campus in Didcot, Oxfordshire. This hyper-scale facility is expected to create 1,500 jobs during construction and 100 permanent positions once operational.
ServiceNow has pledged Ā£1.15 billion over the next five years to expand its UK operations. This investment will support AI development, expand data centres with Nvidia GPUs for local processing of LLM data, and grow the companyā€™s UK workforce beyond its current 1,000 employees. ServiceNow also plans to offer new skills programmes to reach 240,000 UK learners.
ServiceNowā€™s AI platform is already utilised by 85% of Fortune 500 companies and more than half of the FTSE100. In the UK, the company works with organisations including BT Group, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, and hundreds of public sector bodies such as the NHS and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer, commented: ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½This investment is a huge vote of confidence in the UKā€™s tech and AI sector, and is exactly the kind we want to see as we grow the economy. Thatā€™s what the International Investment Summit is all about too. Showing global investors and business that Britain is open for business.ā€

I didn't know rationalism of the online rationalists was not the same as the one that has the Wikipedia article. When I first saw the term on Tumblr I went to that article and skimmed it and decided I don't really get what those bloggers' perspectives are. After your post I now have even less knowledge than I did before.
The following is an oversimplification, so for those who have quibbles with the history here, well, forgive me.
Online rationalism was founded by two guys named Eliezer Yudkowsky and Robin Hanson on the blog LessWrong. Of these two figures Yudkowsky has been much more influential. The ideology that Yudkowsky promoted is roughly as follows:
humans are, relatively soon, likely to develop a superintelligent AI which has the capacity to self-improve by rewriting its own code. This will cause the AI's intelligence to rapidly explode beyond anything we can imagine, a process which rationalists onomatopoetically call "FOOM".
This superintelligent AI, if it could be harnessed and controlled, could cure death, and possibly revive all already-dead humans in a simulated world, leading to a technological utopia in which humans have merged with machines; this is called "the singularity" (the idea of the singularity predates the rationalists, and is a broader transhumanist trope).
However, it is almost certain that a superintelligent AI could not be harnessed and controlled; in fact, if such an AI was created, there is a very high probability that it would end the world (in rationalist jargon this is called an "x-risk"), perhaps usurping all of the accessible matter and energy on earth, then in the solar system, then in the galaxy and beyond in pursuit of its inscrutable goals. Thus, humans have a responsibility to make sure we never create such a superintelligent AI (in a recent op-ed in Time, Yudkowsky went so far as to say that the US should use drone strikes to destroy any datacenter found to be training a large AI model).
The reason that people do not recognize the truths above is because people are too irrational to see them. Therefore, people need to be taught to be more rational, by Yudkowsky via the blog LessWrong. The tenets of being more rational are laid out largely in a series of blog posts known as "The Sequences", later published as a book. The main take-aways are: (1) use Bayes' Theorem all the time to estimate the probability of things, and (2) to eliminate one's various cognitive biases, as outlined in The Sequences.
LessWrong attracted a lot of people who did not agree with Yudkowsky about AI, but who liked the Bayes' Theorem stuff and the commentary on cognitive biases. There is a joke that "anyone who has ever disagreed with Yudkowsky is a rationalist". The people who settled on LessWrong were largely drawn from the milieu of Bay Area tech workers, economics blog enthusiasts, and sci-fi fans. They would come to be known as LessWrongers, rationalists, or aspiring rationals. From this group, two major subgroups worth mentioning were spawned:
First is the Effective Altruists. Effective Altruism, to my knowledge, isn't a strictly LessWronger phenomenon, and has also been influenced majorly by philosophers like Peter Singer. However, they have been so intertwined with LessWrongers throughout their history that I think they are worth mentioning as essentially an offshoot of rationalism.
Effective Altruists believe that, in order to do the most good in the world, one should use one's money in a way that does the maximum amount of good per dollar. Rather than e.g. donating to charities willy-nilly based on what feels important, one should use quantitative methods to estimate how much impact each dollar is making, and donate in a way which maximizes that. The Effective Altruists are split along one main ideological line: neartermism vs. longtermism. The neartermists are basically focused on what we would traditionally think of as charitable activities: fighting disease, giving people clean water, that kind of stuff. I think neartermist Effective Altruism is pretty sensible, and I think they've done a lot of good work evaluating charities and so on. GiveWill is an essentially neartermist Effective Altruist organization, and I think their activities are very worth supporting.
The longtermists, on the other hand, are focused on "the long-term interests of humanity". They are, well, in my opinion, basically a bunch of people trying to turn their sci-fi fantasies into a reality. They are often very worried about AI x-risk, like Yudkowsky, and they're often pro-singularity, and sometimes pro-eugenics, and a bunch of other stuff. Remember Sam Bankman-Fried, the guy who committed the largest act of financial fraud in human history? Well, he was an Effective Altruist with some longertermist sympathies. Some of the money that he stole he actually gave to worthwhile charities, but some of it he used on stupid longtermist sci-fi fantasy shit. His girlfriend Caroline Ellison, who helped him do a bunch of that fraud, was a member of rationalist tumblr. Some of my mutuals were mutuals with her.
The other major group spawned out of LessWrong were the Neoreactionaries, or NRx. These guys, too, weren't a purely LessWronger phenomenon; they were also majorly influenced by people such as the philosopher Nick Land (former student of Baudrillard, who took a far-right turn in the 2000s and started advocating for "hyper-racism") and blogger Curtis Yarvin a.k.a. "Mencius Moldbug". These guys are a rag-tag group of authoritarians, eugenicists, and racists, who are interested in rationality insofar as they view it as a path that leads to their desired sci-fi-inflected far-right future.
Oh, right, last but not least I should define the term "rat-adj". It means "rationalist-adjacent". Uh. So, I was never a LessWronger, and as I think my description makes clear, I find like 90% of this rationalist stuff either goofy or actively harmful. But I have, somehow, ended up basically acquainted with a bunch of people formerly or presently part of the LessWrong milieu, and in light of this I am what one calls "rationalist-adjacent". I talk to various rationalist bloggers somewhat often. And most of them are much more normal than all this would suggest, part of the rationalist discursive sphere but not really believers in the imminent AI apocalypse. Uh. So, there you go.

Introducing my Pokemon AU: Subzero! Itā€™s pretty much my replacement for the Indigo Disk (though it takes place directly after The Way Home, into The Teal Mask and then the regular Indigo Disk timeline).
After reading my story rambles, let me know if yā€™all want more of this AU!
The main thing about this AU is that some parts of the story were done differently. For one, the AI professor was NOT sent back in time, but rather heavily damaged from both the heavy amount of terastal energy consuming them and them fighting the Paradise Protection Protocol. So while they are decommissioned for the time being, the MC (in this AU being Florian) and the rest of the main crew start to work together to try and learn more about the paradox pokemon, and how all this started (since it wasnā€™t really answered at the end of the adventure and I feel like Arven would want some more closure).Ā
This leads into their maintenance of Area Zero, as they would monitor its energy levels and activity, with Florian being the one venturing into the crater to keep the paradox mons in check, in which he would discover Iron Leaves. This freaks out the group, as they didnā€™t think any more paradox mons would appear once the machine shut down, so now theyā€™re even more desperate for answers.
During all of this, they are using the lighthouse lab as a makeshift headquarters (sometimes sleeping there, but they still stay in their dorms), and one day while Arven was cleaning, he discovers an offline Magearna in its ball form. The crew manage to wake it up, and it starts to repeat the phrase, ā€œTeal Mask, Indigo Diskā€. This leads to the crew, now calling themselves ā€œThe Subzero Squadā€ (courtesy of Nemona, no one else agreed to it lol), researching and learning some of the lore about Kitakami, the Ogre, and, hidden away deep in the Pokemon League database, Penny finds some documents hinting at their possession of an Indigo Diskā€¦
This then kicks off the Teal Mask storyline, as Florian uses the school trip as a way to research further into the Ogre. The only other major change to this storyline is that Florian manages to meet up with Ogerpon a short while after Kieran shows him the den, and talks to it about helping him and his friends back in Paldea. Ogerpon is hesitant and distant at first, but as the regular story progresses she trusts Florian more and decides to help him (This is why Florian had to take Ogerpon, otherwise he would have just left her in Kitakami to enjoy her happier life).
Directly after returning home, Florian immediately enters the crater with Ogerpon to try and find a connection between her masks and the machine. Finding nothing initially, he returns to the lab to meet up with the rest of the crew when the Teal Mask reacts to the terastal husk of the AI professor, waking him temporarily. After his initial shock, he manages to tell the kids that the mask is important to Area Zero, but the Indigo Disk is key to stopping paradox pokemon from appearing in Area Zero and truly saving Paldeaā€¦before he shuts down once more.
Knowing what they know now, the group makes a hard decision: Nemona and Penny need to infiltrate the Pokemon League to find the Indigo Disk, as the documents Penny found hint at it being in their possession. This leads to a week or two of the two girls getting super close to the League members, Geeta especially, and Nemona is the one to find the diskā€™s location. She has to lie to Geeta however (which she REALLY doesnā€™t wanna do but yā€™know peer pressure and uh yeah the fate of the whole region) to get her out of her office so that she can slip in to steal the disk.
Once sheā€™s got the disk, she makes it back to the group, whom descend back into the depths to try and find where the disk goes, and then the regular Indigo Disk storyline starts to play out (without Kieran, Carmine, and Ms. Briar). They battle the Stellar-type mons, make it to the center, and out comes Terapagos in its normal form. They try to catch it, but it breaks out of every ball they put it in. In a fit of desperation, Florian chucks his bag at it, and Terapagos likes it and climbs inside! So with their ā€˜caughtā€™ mysterious pokemon, they exit the under depths and begin the search for answers with this strange pokemonā€¦
And thatā€™s about it! Sorry I know this was a lot but I wasnā€™t really happy with the ending of the DLC (was still good tho!) and wanted to retcon it a bit to make more logical sense based off of the characters and what happened to each of them. Iā€™ll try to flesh out this AU more as I go forward, so some parts of the story may change. This is just the basic timeline of events. Thereā€™s a whole Treasures of Ruin arc I didnā€™t even START to go into lol.

ASSMU Behind the Stage Ver.B [Natsuki, Syo, Ai, Nagi, Yamato] - Translation
Tumblr media
Please do not repost/retranslate without permission.
Ai: It is interesting that towards the end of the song, when the 18 of us sing together, the position of the five of us splits into two, with me in the center.
Ai: On the right are Natsuki and Yamato, who are large and adult-like, and on the left are Syo and Nagi, who are small and cute.
Nagi: Nagi may be small and cute, but my feelings are the greatest, so Iā€™ll make the audience more excited than anyone else.
Natsuki: Wah! Youā€™re so lovely, Nagi-kun! Not only are you cute but youā€™re also cool! Gyuu!
Syo: W-Wait a minute!!
Nagi: Woah!
Syo: Wait, Natsuki! Donā€™t go hugging Nagi! If youā€™re gonna do that, it should be with the super cool me.
Natsuki: I understand. Of course, Syo-chan is always cute and cool too. Gyuu!
Syo: Argh! I got it, but-! Youā€™re squeezing too hard!!
Nagi: Jeez, what are you two doing? It canā€™t be helped. Nagi will teach you how to hug more cutely. Come here for a second, Natsuki.
Natsuki: Okay. Is it okay if I just wait here like this?
Nagi: Yes. Lean down a bit more. Like that. Here we go. Gyuu~ Then letā€™s both look at Syo and wink! How was that?
Natsuki: It makes it look like we get along well, which is very good.
Syo: Wow, that was damn clean.
Yamato: Hey, Natsuki. If you have any energy left over, be my opponent.
Natsuki: Really? That sounds fun too.
Ai: That kind of thing should be done after practice, not now. Incidentally, I'm pretty confident in my own skills though.
Syo: I mean, I'm not losing either. I'm not talking about height or arm wrestling! What's needed for a live performance is spirit! I'm going to put my heart and soul into singing and dancing for my fans.
Yamato: Yeah, exactly. I canā€™t waste time. I need more stamina to put on the best live performance I can. Should I increase my training? First, 500 push-ups!
Syo: No, that's ridiculous. We finished practicing the basics and now it's time for the dance lesson.
Yamato: Don't be so rigid about something being a little out of order. Let's do it together! 1, 2, 3ā€¦
Syo: I haven't said I'm going to do it yet! Ah, damn it!
Yamato: 4, 5, 6ā€¦
Syo: 7, 8, 9, 10
Ai: Okay. I'll leave the push-ups to you two. Shall the rest of us go over the moves again?
Natsuki: Yes! Thatā€™s right, Nagi-kun. How about we try to incorporate a moment of interaction with the fans like we did just now in the song?
Nagi: That might be good. Letā€™s seeā€¦
Syo: (out of breath) Hey, don't just leave me like this, do something about it!!
Ai: (sigh) It canā€™t be helpedā€¦ Yamato! Let's stop that for now. Since we're all here, let's all review the choreography together so that we're all in sync.
Yamato: Now that you mention it, youā€™re right. Got it.
Syo: Thank god! I'm so glad Aiā€™s here.
Natsuki: Ai-chan is our center not only in that part of the choreography but also figuratively.
Nagi: I guess I can kinda see it.
Yamato: Natsuki, that was a good line!
Syo: I feel like having Ai in the group gives it a nice balance. Let the five of us create a new harmony.
Ai: I think I understand what everyone is trying to say. Well, thank you. Now then, I think we should get back to the lesson. After this, Syo and Yamato will do push-ups. Let's start again from the beginning.
Yamato: Sounds good. Itā€™s the perfect schedule.
Syo: Letā€™s do that. Iā€™ll do my best!
Natsuki: Then I'd like to join in on the push-ups too.

hi there, I was wondering if I could use your medical Malpractice characters for a chat group in character Ai Also you do great in representing Peter Lorre and his films in general
(also this is my first time on tumblr )
No thank you. Iā€™d rather not have my art be used in such a manner, and least of all in generative AI.
If you want to know my reasoning:
Aside from ethical concerns, it is just a very wasteful method of dealing with art with a giant environmental footprint: these server farms strain the electrical grid in ways that they were not designed for, leading to much more energy having to be produced to keep them running, which means even more consumption of already precious resources and said resources and energy being diverted away from people who actually need them more - for example, the electricity created by wind farms in the Netherlands are almost completely being used by data centers, leading to even more gas and coal production to supplement the rest. (Imagine if those data centers were not being prioritised to churn out cryptocurrencies and generative AI, then weā€™d be able to transition much easier to clean energiesā€¦!!), and Iā€™d rather not contribute to that in any way.
I also think Peter Lorre himself, who had to deal with the rights to his own image being owned by Warner Brothers and imitators claiming they were him, would also likely disapprove.
Thanks for the compliment, and I hope you have a good day.

First section of Touchstone, insane Miller-has-a-crush-on-Master-Chief fic premise.
It is not currently nsfw. It is currently running away from me as I relish in the opportunity to flop around in this space in Halo lore like a crow in a rain puddle.
But anyway, here's how it's going so far. (Reprints the thing I posted before for coherency, mostly it's Miller suffering, eventually once I feel like I have a substantial amount of fanfiction built up here I might post it to ao3 but who knows)
ā€”
Directing Blue Team is different from directing Crimson, or Majestic, or any other Spartan-IV team. It shouldnā€™t be. A Spartan fireteam is a Spartan fireteam, and Spartan-IV outcomes are equal or superior to Spartan-II. This is the official line. Miller has all the data rattling around in his head that would confirm it, all the performance metrics and wargames statlines and field reports.
But dataā€™s only one piece of a puzzle. The other piece is the VISR feeds streaming across Millerā€™s display, pooling together the four perspectives that make up the whole of the mission.Ā
Kelly-087. Fred-104. Linda-058. John-117, the Master Chief himself.
They speak very little, they move in perfect concert, the whole execution of every objective the wargames protocol spits and Miller calls out for them is ruthlessly, antiseptically clean.
If Crimson is like a rocket launcher, the Spartan-IIs feel like a goddamn tactical nuke.
Directing Blue Team is a rush.
ā€œEnjoying yourself?ā€ Roland asks, the surprise lighting up all the muscles in Millerā€™s shoulders and making his teeth click together. The yellow figure of the Infinityā€™s AI, arms folded behind his back and brows arched, has co-opted the workstationā€™s holo display. He manages to project the full energy of someone leaning on the back of Millerā€™s chair despite lacking both the body and the weight to lean.
Miller feels his ears burn, like heā€™s been somehow caught doingā€¦ something.
Heā€™s not going to analyze exactly what that something is or why he feels that way about watching Blue Team sighting in on a Promethean Knight, right now.
ā€œ...Sure. Just putting Blue Team through their paces,ā€ he replies, starting off cautiously neutral. Roland hasnā€™t done anything yet. Thereā€™s a chance he wonā€™t do anything, or say anything. Miller can be the bigger person. Miller can offer Roland the chance to better his track record vis a vis the doing and saying of things.
The Master Chief makes a hand signal, invisible on his cam but Miller sees it flicker in triplicate across team feeds before they all start moving. Fred-104 pops from cover to herd the Knight, tightly placed AR groups forcing it to move back before it has a chance to hit him with its scattershot. Linda-058, further off up a stone ledge where sheā€™s been cleaning Watchers out of the air, fires a round that slices through one side of the Knightā€™s carapace and bursts out the other with a flare of damaged orange hardlight. It staggers and step-turns to hunt the sniperfire, and immediately gets hit from the back by Kelly-087, lightning fast with a shotgun blast that shreds the rest of the rear armor and exposes the Knightā€™s glowing core.
Then thereā€™s the Master Chief. He slides in from the flank, closing immediately to drive in a knife. The Knight staggers forward and the Chief mounts up, tipping the big construct with a powerful twist of his body while he adjusts the angle of the blade. Thereā€™s nothing random about the stab, Miller can see him pull the Knightā€™s core with one hand while the other slices into the contacts along its rim. It screams as something pops with one disdainful flex of the Chiefā€™s wrist, and he jumps away clean before the Knight dissolves into sparks and cinders under him.
Roland whistles appreciatively.
Miller swallows.
Itā€™s here that he gets the first inkling that maybe, possibly, he might have a problem.
ā€œVery nice,ā€ Roland is saying. ā€œOoh, Miller. Miller! Can I tell Majestic how much this beats their time?ā€
ā€œGood work, Blue Team,ā€ Miller says, ignoring him. ā€œThat was the last target. Head back to the first waypoint, and weā€™ll pull you out of the sim.ā€
ā€œSpoilsport,ā€ Roland grouses. ā€œI think a little competition would be good for Majestic! Light a real fire under ā€˜em.ā€
ā€œRoland, clear the channel,ā€ says the Master Chief before Miller has to do it himself. ā€œMiller, it was a smooth run. Good job, Spartan.ā€
Millerā€™s heart doesnā€™t skip a beat, because thatā€™s the sort of trouble reserved for mere mortals with organs not reinforced by polythread weave.Ā
And thatā€™s the only reason.
ā€œThanks.ā€
Itā€™s lame, Thanks, but the word gets out of his mouth in one piece and he couldnā€™t be more grateful.
Rolandā€™s trying to lure the Master Chief into giving him some pointers that he can offer next time Thorneā€™s team runs this exercise, no doubt because heā€™s bored and would love to rile Majestic up, but the Chief can hold his own and Millerā€™s lost focus on it in the face of what heā€™s learning.
Because oh.
Oh.
He has a problem.
ā€”
MJOLNIR variants, the names of specific patterns for alien weapons, the shape and flow of familiar combat situations. The ways his teams fall together, the ways the personalities play off one another or donā€™t. How something can happen, and someone can suddenly be different from how they were before.
The things Miller knows snap into focus every time he recognizes them, like the targeting reticle blinking awake on his HUD when the MJONLIRā€™s gauntlet contacts clock a supported weapon. Heā€™s always liked knowing things, even made it his business to know things when he could be relying on a machine to pull up the details. Memory is faster, sharper, lets him fit facts together into something that might actually help. Maybe. Maybe itā€™s also just a certain amount of residual nerdery that the UNSC decided it liked enough not to sand off of him.
Usually, he likes this about himself too.
But right now, the new information slotting itself so helpfully into all Millerā€™s awareness is that the Master Chief is hot. The Master Chief is really really hot, and he canā€™t stop noticing.
Just not thinking about him doesnā€™t work. The Infinity is the biggest ship in the fleet and has a population to match, but in the grand scheme of things? Sheā€™s a small town, and Chiefā€™s a big resident. People still talk over the rumors about the Biko peace talks, the whole slate of rumors about Requiem, about Cortana, about even quieter and older rumors only some of the Spartans are allowed to know and only most of them know if ONI isnā€™t asking.
People wonder stuff about Master Chief.
ā€œHowā€™d he take it?ā€ is what Carmichael wonders over lunch.Ā
Miller twists his fork in his noodles.
ā€œHeā€™sā€¦ā€ Miller searches for a word that has nothing to do with anything he has possibly felt ever in his life. ā€œProfessional.ā€
ā€œThat bad?ā€ Carmichaelā€™s eyebrows lift. Itā€™s more than just thinking itā€™s funny, though.
ā€œNot bad,ā€ Miller clarifies, maybe a little too quickly. ā€œItā€™s justā€¦ā€
Carmichaelā€™s scheduled to do some trial runs with Blue Team, too. Palmer hasnā€™t said anything, but Blue Team hasnā€™t had to work under a Spartan mission handler since John-117 came back from the dead. Blue Team also hasnā€™t been out in the field since the disaster at the Biko peace talks. Everyone on S-Deck is smart enough to figure out whatā€™s happening without having their hands held.
Carmichaelā€™s real question, the one Millerā€™s trying to answer, is: How is the legendary defender of humanity doing with his wings clipped?
The answer to that question should absolutely not be hot.
ā€œIf heā€™s upset about it ā€“ and Iā€™m not saying he is ā€“ heā€™s not showing it.ā€
Carmichael nods, accepting this.Ā
ā€œSo, how do they run?ā€
This oneā€™s worse to answer. Itā€™s so much worse. Miller can hear his pulse in his ears and feel the fork digging into his hand.
He laughs nervously. He hopes Carmichael canā€™t tell.
ā€œI wonā€™t spoil it for you.ā€
He can feel Carmichael studying him. Carmichaelā€™s older, all of the other mission handlers are older than Miller and most of them are from a Spartan-IV class or two before his.
It doesnā€™t bother him, most of the time, but it is enough to create a divide between him and the few other people who share this highly specific job.
ā€œAlright Miller, keep your secrets,ā€ Carmichael says. ā€œMay the best man win, eh?ā€
Miller manages not to choke. Oh. Oh, no.
ā€œThatā€™s not what I meant, I-ā€
ā€œDonā€™t worry about it.ā€ Carmichaelā€™s tone is amicable, but a little of the friendliness has slipped back. Theyā€™re not in cahoots sharing information anymore. This has gone totally professional.Ā
Carmichael has completely misread this. Maybe Miller has too. He didnā€™t realize Carmichael might care about who gets assigned Blue Team?
Maybe it would be a prestige thing? God damn it.
He tries to think of how to fix this, to make it less awkward to share workspace with Carmichael forā€¦ for however long this might last? But he canā€™t do it.
Carmichael finishes eating and leaves the mess first, and Millerā€™s shoulders sink.
He goes back over the testrun in his head as he picks at whatā€™s left on his tray, appetite gone. Did he miss anything during the mission? Any hesitations or bad calls? Whatā€™s Commander Palmer going to say when she finally records feedback? Was it a clean run? He thinks maybe?
Is this even a competition?
Is there any chance theyā€™ll assign Blue Team to him?
Miller thinks about the hole in his roster thatā€™s been there since February, and his gut still twists. Fireteam Castle, all six Spartans, lost to Covenant remnant shooting down their Pelican. All the arguments with himself about whether or not there was something he couldā€™ve done better, arguments heā€™s had with himself hundreds of times since, start rising to the surface of Millerā€™s thoughts.
He forces them all away and rests his face in his hand, fingers on one temple and thumb on the other. He breathes out, long and slow, focusing on the transfer of air until there isnā€™t any left and his headā€™s quiet again.
No. Theyā€™re not going to put him in charge of Blue Team, and itā€™s going to be for the best for all concerned.

What will the future hold for SM, JYPE, YG, and Hybe in the next five years?
SM || ten of swords, eight of pentacles rx, the empress: So, either their artists will all stop renewing with the company (unlike what we've seen over the years) or we'll see some more public lawsuits/other legal issues/scandals coming for them. Their projects might start losing quality, too, and, as a direct consequence, receive increasingly worse results. The company's reputation is really at stake here. On top of that, I see their girl groups doing a lot better than the boy groups and/or a woman might be called in to save the company - either way, there's a very strong and abundant feminine presence here, which seems to carry their only chance to keep their status as a top company. SME will have to reevaluate and reorient their whole structure + business and creative approaches within the next few years, for sure.
JYPE || three of pentacles, eight of cups, knight of swords: JYPE will be standing on their own, focused on what makes them unique + the path they want to forge for themselves; they'll stop looking for comparisons or to follow what other companies are doing, just for the sake of trends/hype. This might result in a decrease of exposure, but it also cleans the slate for them to find their identity once again - also, their groups seem to be getting more involved behind the scenes, too, and that might play a big part here. I would just be wary of them developing tunnel vision regarding some projects or ideas, since that can lead them to lose their grip and fall back into incertitude and lack of direction once more.
YG || the magician, the emperor, ace of swords: There are a lot of legal elements here, so they might either acquire or establish a new subsidiary OR they might merge with some other big company - something new will result out of this, for sure, but YG will still exist as it is; it's just an add on. I see them acquiring stronger leadership, looking to build connections that are more beneficial for them (financially, specially). The company will start relying a lot more on the internet and rise of AI, I believe, and could even look to go with concepts that are a bit more futuristic from now on. They might also pull some of the original hip-hop elements from their early groups, revamp them and create a whole new experimental, ultra-modern yet timeless image for themselves and their groups.
HYBE || the chariot, the sun, ace of wands: HYBE will keep on acquiring more companies or businesses as the years come. They'll still be at the top, setting trends, winning many accolades and coming up with the next "big thing". With the Sun here, it worries me that they might keep training and debuting younger teens - there's a feeling of them wanting to continue on with the fresh, youthful craze that NewJeans started for them. Their target demographic going forward seems to be younger people, too, and whatever they put out then will certainly influence that new generation immensely (in style, tastes, behaviour, etc.; even more than before).
