Welcome to the 2023 Couples of Classic Literature Tournament!

I was inspired both by the many character/ship tournaments already out there (namely; @2023himbotournament, @powerpolyculeshowdown, and @bisexual-monarch-tournament) and by my own recent re-reading of Pride & Prejudice.

Some rules and guidelines;

- I am using the term 'couple' loosely; Pairs who aren't technically couples (ex; Dorian Gray & Lord Henry) and pairs of friends (ex; Charlotte Lucas & Elizabeth Bennett) are also welcome!

-The term 'pair' is also being used loosely; trios, quartets, quintets, etc are welcome too

- Submit as many pairs as you like, but please only submit each one once

- It shouldn't be too much of an issue with this particular theme, but I'll say it anyway; only fictional characters, no real people (as fun as a historical couple tournament would be, this is not that)

- There will be either 16 or 32 slots depending on how many submissions I receive, pairs will be chosen based on popularity (meaning; how many submissions I receive for them or a preliminary poll).

WHAT COUNTS?

I don't really care! as long as the character is sort of sciency I'll take it. if we rock with them and they rock with unethical experiments and / or dangerous chemicals, I'll post them. not sure whether to submit a character or not? see if they have a picture of them in a lab coat. if yes, send, if no, question further. OCS are okay as long as you can provide 3 images of them (with appropriate art credit attached) and AU's are also cool.

in addition, while I'll probably not double post I'm okay with multiple variants of characters, especially classlit stuff. for example, i'd count tgs henry jekyll as a different character to the 1931 version, the mazm victor frankenstein as a different character to the frankenweenie one, etc etc.

you can submit through my asks. please give me the name of the character, source, any AU specifications if needed and images of OCS. image sources for unpopular media are appreciated. i'd like it if you could give me information about the character and how they are a mad scientist, what tag they may fit into and whatnot but it isn't necessary. go nuts.

I am a minor, mostly active on twitter but I like it here people are nicer. I am autistic, my special interests include vocaloid and classical literature, specifically gothic science fiction. jekyll and hyde my beloved. I own a lab coat, 2 pairs of goggles, some nice boots and I cannot actually do science. too stupid.

if i was a vampire i would hang up a bunch of pictures in my house but for some reason inexplicably one wall of pictures would have them all hung sideways and then whenever the rando i’ve lured into my Vampire House looks at them they’ll instinctively tilt their head to one side to look at the pictures thus leaving their neck wide open for Vampire Shenanigans to ensue. step one of making this plan happen is becoming a vampire. if you’re a vampire i’ll totally let you have my very good idea but in exchange you gotta make me a vampire also, no take backsies
