Boris Karloff and Ginger Rogers popped by Cladrite Radio HQ late tonight for some pumpkin pie (Ginger passed on the whipped cream). While they helped us decorate the tree, Boris says, "Why not put on some Christmas music?" and that's just what we did, which means the holiday season is in full swing now on Cladrite Radio, with just the right amount of toe-tapping classic seasonal recordings of the 1920s, '30s and '40s (with a sprinkling of the '50s) added to our playlist. Tune in now!

honestly my mother was a huge champ about her eight-year-old asking to be bought an unabridged edition of the Odyssey for a birthday present, and then she was an equally huge champ about reading her eight-year-old the unabridged Odyssey as a bedtime story and pausing every four lines to define something for me, and let me just say that I have fucking TREASURED the opportunity to reverse that old tradition by more or less forcing her to sit on my couch and listen to Epic and pause it every four lines for my dissertation

Regular Cladrite Radio listeners know that we have, as we do every December, been sprinkling in classic songs of the season along with our usual toe-tapping tunes.
Beginning tonight at midnight ET—and continuing for 48 hours—we’ll be streaming nothing but holiday favorites of the 1920, '30s and '40s. We recommend you curl up in front of a fire with someone special and let the music wash over you. cladriteradio.com

Me: I love Christmas season, getting to hear all the Christmas music on the radio! Friend, who works retail: Are you fucking kidding me? How does it not drive you insane? And aren't you not religious? Me: Because I get to hear beautiful new music all the time by amazing performers. Friend: Haven't you heard it all a million times? Me: No, today I got to hear 3 totally different settings of the Coventry Carol written across like 500 years! Friend: Oh, right, you listen to classical music...
But seriously, KING Classical in Seattle has an amazing Christmas program, if you want to hear carols written across something like a millennium, at least 30% of which you'll have never heard before in any arrangement.
The original:

Seriously, though, listen to this one. Totally different music, and Voces8 is great.

And then I came across this setting of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" by Jacques Cohen that entirely different musically. A lot of fun!
