I still remember in the 10th grade, at the beginning of the school year, being told by Ms. McNamara that I participated too much, so she was going to stop calling on me in class.
Then, during one class where I, in the front row, was raising my hand to answer a question that no one else was raising their hand or interested in participating, she ignored me; even when I was waving my hand like I was gonna learn to fly.
Everyone noticed it; everyone thought it was funny. One child even actively tried to get her to acknowledge me, but speaking out that I clearly had an answer for the question to share.
She still refused to call on me.
I understood that she wanted others to 'get the chance' to participate or answer. But no one in that class even tried to answer before I would then raise my hand. I was capable of recognizing when others wanted to try and was able to delay raising my hand when I didn't know the answer or would have not raised my hand if another child was trying. But they weren't even trying, which was the issue.
But it humiliated me to the point that I started blurting out answers in that class. If she wasn't going to call on me and no one else was trying, I would blurt out my answers.
She tried telling me one time to stop that and raise my hand to ge called.
So, I stopped trying to participate in the class. Did my homework and the assignments, but stopped participating in the class completely.
She had to start calling on people who were not participating since no one else tried.
But I still hold resentment for that teacher.
It's been 20 years.
And I hated English class because of her. I had LOVED the class prior to that experience.

Wow that person is dumb as shit. Anyways as someone absolutely obsessed with the concept of decay I have a take on this.
Basically it all depends on your definition of natural. For instance imagine a fallen tree, a fallen tree out in the woods will be broken down by its own decay, insects, fungi and so on. What this person is describing is like putting a fallen tree into a completely sterile environment with no contact with the ecosystem it belongs in and preserving it so that it doesn’t decay as quickly. I don’t know about you but to me that sounds far from natural. So yes, aging without counteracting it at every turn with a million tiny treatments to preserve your health in a way your body can technically benefit from is natural.
scrunching my face real hard rn

I kinda love the idea of fig dropping out of school but ending up there often anyways in classes with her friends because without the ridiculous value judgments and expectations attached to school, fig actually enjoys learning and seeing what her friends are learning about
#plus I think it's a very archdevil of rebellion move to technically withdraw from school but still participate in some classes#with no official records to show for it#fantasy high#dimension 20#fantasy high junior year#fhjy#figueroth faeth#fig faeth

The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.
#also idk how to tell you this but even if it were true. wealthy children potentially sacrificing their educational careers to protest is#a good thing actually. idk how to tell you that caring about people from other nations is good#personal#“this war has nothing to do with most students cuz nobody's getting drafted” idk how to explain to you that we should be angry#that our tuitions of 10s of thousands of dollars that we pay every year for an education is being used to fund a genocidal campaign#also the implication that if you go to a uni institution you are automatically privileged by participation no matter your bg#i didn't /want/ to go to this school. i was supposed to go to a school with an art/animation program. but i realized my immigrant#parents have been working their whole lives to get me here. and turning the opportunity down would be a disservice to their sacrifice#this is getting into convos of “what 2nd gen kids owe their parents” which is different for everyone but. yeah#i just get pissed off at seeing people misrepresenting student bodies as “wealthy” and “privileged” and “elite” when it's such a blatant li#i remember a year ago a friend told me they can't fly home to hong kong for winter break because the plane tickets are too expensive#so they have to find temporary housing around the area#last quarter for a film doc class my film partner made a doc on a small group of marxist grad students from india discussing praxis#during a rally a few months ago in response to police presence the coalition invited palestinian students to speak about their experiences#and lead songs and read poems they wrote. these are STUDENTS. are they elitist too?#this is not to disregard my own personal privilege either.#this whole narrative's just to rationalize a lack of empathy to me. seeing a 19yo student get shot by a rubber bullet and your first#reaction is “HAW! HAW! bet richy rich didn't see THAT coming when she put on her terrorist hood!”#newsflash. these big uni campuses are HAUNTED by the violence of past protests and revolutions and police brutality. we know.#why do you think these coalitions have been making reinforced barricades at record speed

Here’s a bit of a departure from my usual art posting but I’d like to get the word out about my dear friend Edrian and his friend Angeles’s endurance performance and hunger strike for a free Palestine in Los Angeles starting today, June 17th. (More info on Edrian’s Instagram and at venerations.cargo.site)
Edrian will begin cutting out paper dolls and ribbons to reach 35,647 of each, reflecting the reported death toll of Palestinians killed by Israel’s genocide in Gaza since Oct. 7th. He will not move from the venue until he is done and do nothing aside from cutting with few exceptions made for his own physical and economic survival. In addition to that and to represent a microcosm of the suffering in Gaza and Palestine, he will be on HUNGER STRIKE until he finishes. It’s an impossible task to do alone before starving so audience participation is essential. I’m spreading the word to ask for support through participation!
You can participate in a number of ways (more detailed instructions here):
Spread the word. Word of mouth and social media sharing are crucial as this performance is being promoted pretty exclusively via word of mouth.
Donate money to Palestinian aid funds! Certain high donation amounts can help Edrian continue his endurance performance by allowing him to engage in life-giving activities like showering or socializing with a loved one, and reaching the 100k total goal allows him to end his hunger strike.
If you live in and around Los Angeles, visit the venue (800 Date Ave, Alhambra, CA 91803) There you can help him cut and show your support. ***The performance is on the second floor of the venue and there is no elevator so it is not accessible except by stairs :(
If you don’t live near LA, you can cut paper dolls and mail them to the venue address to count towards the total. (printable templates here) This is what I will be doing. It’s easy to do with any spare time you’re not using your hands. I recommend mailing them in small batches if possible to get them in on time and reduce the risk of losing mail. I also recommend including info about the count of paper dolls in each parcel (for example include a note telling the total number of paper dolls) Every small amount counts!
If you are an Art Center College of Design student or alumni, sign the petition to pressure Art Center to divest from Israel! Art Center has refused to host Edrian and Angeles for their performance, torn down their posters promoting it, and in general refused to take a stance against Israel’s genocide. As artists and human beings we must resist genocide and refuse to support institutions that side against the people.
He is also live-streaming his performance and documenting progress if you would like to show support just by being present.
If you’ve never participated in a political performance before now’s a great chance, any little bit counts! I appreciate any time or effort you take to read this, support my friends, and work towards a free Palestine! ♥️🇵🇸
#venerations#free palestine#ik I don’t really talk much or connect with people on social media ^_^; but I appreciate if despite that you support me and my friends! ♥️#please seriously consider participating you can do it for just the cost of postage#also if you’re an ACCD student or an art student in LA it would be really cool of you to show up ♥️#I’m friends with Edrian from taking classes at the LA Animation guild back in the day…and then we found out we went to the same school#and were in the same department too. he’s always been thoughtful brave and radical so it’s really cool of him to do this!#we’d been discussing it for a long time so I’m happy he’s able to get it off the ground now. I hope people consider supporting!#Angeles is Edrian’s friend from ACCD. If Edrian becomes physically incapable of continuing she will continue the performance after him

do you ever think about how all you used to draw when you were 10 was ponies and that you should still know how to do that, then get an idea and proceed to draw something like these in nearly one sitting and it turns out better than any drawing you've done in the entire past month
sooo anyway does anyone have cutie mark or pony name ideas for them?? lol
#(the b girl lineups are older than a month because i procrastinated a lot on doing minor fixes. nothing i drew in the month of june 2024#is really worth showing it's all shitty doodles lmao)#bnha#class 1b#mlp#?#yui kodai#setsuna tokage#itsuka kendo#ibara shiozaki#(i love how she came out in particular! creature :3)#reiko yanagi#tikto's art#you may be wondering why pony of all people isn't here.#i did draw her! but i kind of ran out of steam so i ended up not really liking the result lol same for kinoko#anyway shoutout to elementary school me i was SO obsessed with mlp. brony stuff was one of the first things i used the internet for#and you know what. i wouldn't say it ruined me it was a pleasant experience#i just read what was basically a polish version of equestria daily and constantly checked the deviantart profile of one (1) specific artist#that i liked a lot#i did watch some weird speedpaints (yknow the horror ones) but i honestly dont remember being very bothered by them i just liked the art#i was just chilling there lurking and never actively participating due to being 10 and afraid of online strangers (good for me tbh)#i remember having an identity crisis though because can i really call myself a brony if i'm a little girl? the target audience of the show?#lmao anyway i would also draw ponies constantly and write oc fanfics (and the ocs were actually my irl friends ponified)#and i even had my own little g5 concept. good times good times#tag story time over god bless enjoy your day

"During the French revolution, they thought... "During the revolution, they did..."
Wait. Stop. Pause. The French revolution is a thing that lasted 10 years. You cannot give any blanked statement about it as a whole, because there were so many things going on. Things generally common at one point were unheard of in another. To say anything about frev, you must specify these things: 1. When it's happening? (Not just a year; a specific month at least). 2. Where it's happening? (Paris? Near a battlefield? Somewhere else?) 3. Who is saying/doing this? (Different people had very different takes and tried to influence things in different ways). 4. (of course, should come as #0) How do we know/what is the source?
(This is half a joke post and not an instruction on how to interact here, lol. Just a reminder that we can't give blanket statements about revolution as a whole because so many things differed from month to month and place to place and person to person. The more I read about it, the more I realize it.)
#frev#french revolution#i don't even know if there are things to say about frev as a whole#was it a bourgeois revolution#was is a class struggle#was it liberal#was it proto socialist#idk man what year are we talking about and according to which participants

today my professor was talking about gender and the way kids are raised in society and he brought up kingdom hearts as an example of an unusual piece of media for its time that was seemingly meant to be appealing to both boys & girls and to both adults & kids (presumably cuz like it’s got the anime stuff and the disney stuff and you go through all sorts of different genres and it’s both whimsical and serious) i was like totally zoning out but i snapped awake when he mentioned that lol
#i genuinely cannot stand this man but he wins a few points for that#peach rambles#i was like KINGDOM HEARTS MENTIONED💪💥👀😳😫💪💥💪💥💥💥💯#also had to hold myself back from trying to correct or clarify things he wasn’t quite right on#wasn’t about to put myself as a fan in front of my peers#also like i said i cannot stand that dude i refuse to participate in class unless necessary#kingdom hearts

Hm. There's this strange idea that reputation does not matter and anybody who cares about it are losers bowing down to the ruling class (and well, that is a part of it) instead of the very real thing that has dire consequences (see: wei wuxian and jin guangyao)
"What will happen to Yunmeng Jiang had they stood with Wei Wuxian and the Wens" is not an open and shut case and maybe all they were going to lose is opportunities for advancements (which by the way is a very serious deal for a war torn region and a sect struggling to find their foothold) but also, it is a very real possibility that they fall with Wei Wuxian.
And hm, there is selfishness in wanting to protect your own over everybody else which jiang cheng is very much guilty of. (Although i'd argue that there is lot of nuance here) But he is also somebody who's motivations are rarely about himself, would put his people above his wants and needs and well being, and would rather eat his own foot than ask anybody to put up/stay with him. Including Wei Wuxian, the guy who supposedly he feels he is owed by. And you know, there's selflessness in that
#Brought to you by... I Am More Calm Now#Anyways#Reputation is a very real thing that makes or breaks causes#And not caring about it is... wildly individualistic#'Polite society' may be a weapon of the ruling class. But there is a reason why it's a weapon#With consequences that isn't just becoming a social pariah#jiang cheng#meta analysis#mdzs#This is the final one before I go back into my usual fandom hole#Unless I decided to ignore my tbr to reread mdzs to properly participate in fandom#uuuuuugh
