Expensive Tastes: Noctis Caelum x Fem!Reader (NSFW)
Contains: Lingerie, teasing, dirty talk
Some foreplay and teasing in this one uwu
He could feel the bruises forming silently all over his body, he could feel his muscles slowly tightening from overworking himself during training. Gladio had made it very clear in training today how easy it was to fling the young prince everywhere as if he were a dog’s toy. The number of times he had to warp to avoid colliding with the walls or the floors had run him exhausted and sore. He was utterly drained, left to trudge to his chambers as he dreamed of his bed.
A soft hum radiated from his chest, pale lips flicking up into a very slight blink-and-you’ll-miss-it smile. Soft, clean silky sheets that smelled of lavender and a hint of sylleblossom the maids had just laid down on his oversized bed. Overstuffed pillows made of the finest materials sitting, waiting, fluffed up waiting for him to rest his head and slip into the realm of unconsciousness. He wanted to feel your presence next to him, feel your weight pushed up against him, hands balled up in his shirt, your warmth mixing with his under the soft covers.
Only, when he opened up the large doors to his bedroom, he didn’t see you sitting on the bed waiting for him. You normally did when he had training. You were always there waiting, almost as if you knew it would’ve been hell, like you knew Gladio would throw him around like it was nothing or Ignis outsmarting him at every turn. It was even worse whenever he would need to train with Cor (or even worse, the two times he had to train with Clarus). You would always be there at the foot of the bed, waiting for him to come in and start ranting about training, sometimes with a book in your hands from the grand library or sometimes with your phone idly waiting.
But you weren’t there. Not at the foot of the bed, not looking out the window to watch the city from so high up or watching the rain clouds pass by, not in the chairs off to the wall.
Instead, he saw the door to his bathroom closed, the gap under the door light up with the pale yellow lights from inside.
Upon closer inspection of the room, he noticed something by the side of the bed; Your clothes, all pooled and kicked to the side with your shoes. Noctis swallowed, glancing to the bathroom door where he realized there was music playing softly from behind the door.
Noctis stepped inside the room and made sure to close and lock the door behind him. He slowly stepped forward, closer to the bed, keeping his eyes glued to the bathroom door.
It was almost like you hear him in the bedroom as you opened the bathroom door. Light spilled into the dim bedroom. Noctis stood there light a deer in the headlights, eyes suddenly glued to the feminine form standing in the doorway.
He felt his pale cheeks heat up once more, but it wasn’t from exhaustion.
In the doorway to the bathroom stood you.
You had a black silken robe held closed by one hand, long expensive silk draping down your legs and stopping by your ankles. Your hand only protected your chest and stomach from being exposed, it hung open slightly, just enough to create a slit and expose one of your legs.
And boy was it a treat to him.
Your exposed leg was wrapped in skin-tight black lace. You were wearing knee-high stockings, and the hem was frilly and flowery. Black lace against your skin was an art to him, to hell with the paintings and portraits lining the hallways of the Citadel. You had makeup on, eyelids painted dark and lips glossy. He wanted to mess up that gloss.
“I heard training today was rough,” you acknowledged. No doubt you could see the bruises on his hands. You leaned against the doorframe and eyed him from under painted eyes, eyelashes fluttering. “I thought I’d do something to cheer you up.”
Noctis stood there, just staring at your one exposed leg wrapped in expensive Altissian lace, lips ever so slightly parted and his pale cheeks set ablaze.
“And what- how would you do that?” he stumbled over his tongue.
It was as if time had played in slow motion. He saw you let go of the front of the silken night robe hiding the rest of your body from his wanting eyes. The Silk fell back, and with a soft roll of your shoulders, the silk had suddenly found itself pooled to the floor like the rest of your clothing from earlier. Noctis felt his starlit blue eyes widen, felt his jaw unhinged just a bit more, he felt his heart suddenly start sprinting like the time he and Prompto pranked a raging Gladio.
The expensive black Altissian lace didn’t just stop at pricey stockings, you were wrapped in it so elegantly, he would have thought you were a present sent from the Astrals themselves. A present he almost didn’t want to open, you were wrapped too perfectly.
But he couldn’t let such a present go unopened.
Your bra was solid black, lace frilling underneath the cups. The straps were lace and thick and wrapped up behind your neck. In between the cups laid the littlest bow, a shiny stone weaved into the knot. Noctis briefly wondered if he could undo that little bow with his teeth to free your breasts. He wanted to massage them, kiss them, squeeze them; Worship them like one would an Astral.
You wore a pair of hipster panties. The middle was solid material, a shiny black. The sides were lace and hung high on your hips, hugging your hips and showing all of your curves. And just like your bra, the hemlines were lacey and there was a matching bow that sat right below your belly button, same glittering stone and all.
A present sent from the Astrals indeed.
“Wow,” was all Noctis could say, but it was just a mere whisper.
You slowly strolled towards him, swaying those hips of your, your eyes pinned on him. Your pupils were blown wide with lust. Noctis backed up with every step you took towards him, the music from the bathroom suddenly raging in his ears like it were a dream. With every step you took forwards towards him, he backed up one until his knees hit the mattress and he lost his balance, falling back onto the bed. You were standing there before him not too long after, watching him as he sat up on the bed. He was suddenly no longer exhausted from training all afternoon anymore.
“I could use some of that cheering up,” Noctis murmured under his breath, chest heaving at the sight of you standing above him.
Without a second thought you had reached up to behind your neck and unclasped the strap, letting the expensive bra you were wearing fall to the floor like it was some cheap thing.
Your breasts were free and out there on show to him, but something of his wasn’t. He could feel the electric shocks running all through his body, and he could definitely feel his pants getting slowly tighter in the crotch.
You had suddenly caged him. You propped one knee up next to his hip on the mattress, then the next. You placed one hand on Noctis’ chest and pushed him down, trailing a finger along his collarbones and down his chest. He really hoped you couldn’t feel his heart pounding against his ribcage as you stroked him through his shirt (but he really hoped you felt the tent in his pants).
You leaned down slightly and smiled at him. Noctis was sure by now that his face was beet red and he wasn’t sure he could keep a hold of constant eye contact with you. All he could think to do was to grab ahold of you, to steady you for whatever you were planning in that devious head of yours. He loved sinking his fingers into your hips, he wrapped his fingertips around the waistband of your panties.
He couldn’t handle it anymore; The teasing, the soft music still radiating from the bathroom, how the lighting just hit your body just right, how perfect you looked in black lace and silk.
He couldn’t handle the strain and tenting going on in his boxers and why is it so hot in here?
He was suffocating sitting there, looking at you, watching as you coyly smiled, looping your arms loosely around his neck, feeling you move around on his lap. His fingertips dug dangerously deep into your thighs and hips, nails biting into the material.
It was when he felt you grind against his erection did he finally snap.
He didn’t know he could move that fast, all of that training with Gladio and Ignis (and he shuddered as the brief thought of Cor stabbing at his feet with his sword) helped his reflexes, he had suddenly pinned you to the bed by the shoulders, a short gasp escaping your glossy lips.
Noctis’ fingers wrapped even tighter around the waistband of your panties and yanked them down your legs.
You flushed at the outline hidden inside the confinements of his underwear. Cock straining, erect, yet tortured to be stuck into tightening underwear.
Without a second thought, Noctis’ sweatpants dropped to the floor, the young prince quickly kicking them out of the way.
“You drive me crazy,” Noctis growled above you, hands snatching at your bare hips.
Your eyes held a sly shine to them, lips cheshire, loosely locking your stocking ankles behind his lower back.
“I’m just catering to your expensive tastes.”

Her Royal Highness holds herself unusually tall for so unholy an hour. But, as Fortis stands in for her guard today, he has no choice but to follow her through the winding halls of the citadel.
It is a path any soldier knows well. A ward of the King’s own Shield, Lunafreya practically grew up in this place. The sword racks were her climbing gym; the clanging of weapons, her naptime lullaby. But she did not come to play.
❝We have something in common, you and I,❞ she begins, her hands behind her back. The very best impression she can manage of a commanding officer, something of Clarus in the sway of her body. Yet even so, this small teenage girl seems so very out of place among the weaponry and skyward ceilings.
❝A vested interest in the Prince’s wellbeing.❞ She goes on, nevertheless. Bluffing her way through as if she will not hear the word no; as if Fortis does not have the authority to physically carry her back home if he must, and ground her to her room if she will not behave. (The line between a guard and a babysitter is woefully thin.) ❝I am almost sixteen, and which point I shall officially bear the mantle of Oracle. You know Noctis’ destiny is special. And I am…decidedly underequipped compared to my predecessors. In lieu of training not available to me in Insomnia, I’d like to become strong enough to protect Noctis in other ways. This is where you come in.
❝My beloved guardian has trained me well, but I know I can do more. I want to be strong - like the Crownsguard. I can defend myself fine, but I want to learn to fight. So…I am in need of a mentor.❞

Noctis
So many parties! If Noctis didn’t know he’d be caught by Ignis and that it would make his father upset to not witness, he would have eloped with you. But no he had to do this by royal protocol, and royal protocol meant weeks of engagement parties, and fancy dinners.
Still, he had to admit if he had to go through it with anyone he was so happy it was you. You standing so proudly by his side, showing off all the Princess training that Ignis and your tutors put you through. It also meant that he got to see you in all those pretty dresses. He was so busy admiring you that he almost missed his cue to address the Duke, Duchess and their daughter, who had quite the crush on the Prince.
“A pleasure!” The Duchess cooed, before nudging her daughter who was staring so at Noctis. The Duchess’s eyes turned to you standing beside Noctis, Ignis flanking the two of you, hissing between her and her daughter, as Noctis was greeting the Duke.
‘My gods, you’d think the commoner would even attempt to try to impress royalty.’
The Duchess daughter let out a snicker in their native language, ‘I know Mummy, She looks ridiculous.’
Noctis wasn’t certain what she had muttered, but heard the offending intake of air from Ignis behind him, watching his advisor step forward. Only to stop as you rose your hand halting Ignis with a smile.
‘My Duchess, at least one of us knows the meaning of modesty.’ You replied to the shocked face of the Duchess and Princess in their native tongue, offering them your hand as was protocol. ‘After all, why would I need to impress anyone other than my husband. Unlike some persons.’
The Duke stammered, as he pressed a kiss to your hand and ushered his family off the platform.
Noctis stared in confusion, “What was that?”
You smiled toward the Prince hearing Ignis chuckle softly, “Oh nothing seems my dress is the talk of the night.”
~~~~~
Prompto
This was fun!
You couldn’t help the large stupid smile on your face as you watched these four brave men running around after the Cuddle of Chocobos that managed to be playing keep-away with Prompto’s camera.
How they even got the camera was in itself a mystery. Yet none of the guys would ever get close enough to the Chocobo to even have a chance of getting the strap. Lucky the camera was in its shockproof case when it was taken so there was no worry about it accidentally shattering.
“Y/N, aren’t you going to help?” Prompto called.
You put on a bright over the top smile to your boyfriend, “What’s in it for me?”
Prompto stopped chasing the Chocobo along with the others as they all stared at you. Only to hear you cackling as you moved towards the battlefield, asking everyone to politely stand behind you.
“I get dinner choice tonight and for the next two hotel stops.” You stated over your shoulders, before turning back to the Chocobo. Waiting for one to run by as you reached out without a second thought and managed to climb on without a harness to guide you.
Leaping from Chocobo to Chocobo before managing to get to the one holding the camera, reaching forward taking a hold of the lanyard, before prying its mouth open to get your prize. Manging to flip off its back landing before the guys.
“And here you are.” You smiled.
“Y/N, where are Eos did you learn that?” Ignis inquired.
You gave that same over the top smile, “You guys don’t know everything about me.” Only for your eyes to turn to Prompto as you heard him mutter. “Nothing’s broken is it, Sweetie?”
“Holy shit, my girlfriend’s a superhero.”
~~~~~
Gladiolus
You would never forget the first time you were invited to the annual Amicita camping trip. Having been Gladiolus' girlfriend, and Clarus seeing just how head over heels you were for each other, the man invited you along.
Now to say that the elder Amicita didn’t like you was wrong, he liked you cause you would be on his son's case when he wasn’t, and you brought out the best in Gladiolus. The thing being, you were very “Girly”. Not that he had an issue with that.
At any party that could be thrown into, he knew that you had it in the bag.
It was just that they would be camping in tents in nature for the next few days, and you were known for your fashion-forward dresses, and your long nails and always styled hair. You just didn’t scream nature, yet Gladiolus was so insistent on you coming along, and Iris was finally happy to have some girl time.
“You got it, babe?” Gladiolus called, as you followed them up the cliffs where you all would be camping for the evening.
“Yep.” You smiled back with a slight pant.
“Gladiolus carry Y/Ns, backpack for her.” Clarus called, “I raised you better than that.”
“Oh it’s fine Mr. Amicitia, I just somehow got a rock in my shoe.” You smiled, sitting down on the boulder to remove said rock.
“Have you been camping before Big Sis?” Iris asked as you relaced your boots.
“It’s been a while, I had to replace a lot of gear.” You smiled, before turning to the others. “Are we ready?”
Gladiolus pointed beyond the cliff peak, “We’re heading over there and will set up camp on the other side of the pasture.”
“Ready whenever you are.”
Clarus looked to his son, couldn’t Gladiolus see that you were struggling. Maybe they should stop prior to the pasture so that you didn’t wear yourself out. It would be the first year that the Amicitia’s didn’t come out in their spot, but if it meant it was easier on you, they would have to deal with the sacrifice this time.
So while making their way down, Clarus turned toward the rest of his party announcing they would be camping there for the evening.
“Dad, we still have plenty of light, we can make it to the camping spot in no time,” Gladiolus replied.
Clarus stared at his son, before turning a glancing toward you, “We don’t want to push ourselves.”
“It’s not that big, an hour tops, right?” You smiled standing between Gladiolus and Iris.
Clarus tried to argue but figured there would be no harm in turning around.
So when an Alphatusk suddenly attacked midway through the field, he was quick to tell you to move back with Iris, only to instead find you grabbing something from your bag and rushing pass Gladiolus, your left hand coming up only to find blade claws on your hands, and the way you moved showed that you had plenty of practice in them.
No more than 10 minutes later, did you all stand on the defeated enemy, as you removed your claws attaching them back to your bag. “Everyone okay, I have some first aid in my...”
You were stopped in your tracks as Clarus hugged you tightly, “Mr. Amicitia?”
“I apologize for being so judgemental.”
You were confused for a moment only to look over his shoulder to his children who were struggling to hold back their laughter. “Did you two not tell him that I was trained!?”
~~~~~
Ignis
“Your Majesty please.” Ignis groaned as Noctis picked apart his meal for the evening. All the vegetables being pushed over to either his or your plates.
“Ignis, it's fine.” You cooed to your boyfriend, stroking his arm. “Noctis is a grown man and should be allowed to make his own choices.”
Ignis stared at you in confusion, only to find you give him a warm smile before starting on your own meal.
“See, Specs, at least Y/N loves me,” Noctis replied rather smugly.
“Noctis, Ignis loves you more than anything.” You giggled.
“Please don’t encourage him, Love.” Ignis sighed.
As dinner was cleared from the table, you leaned over picking up Noctis’s glass. “Noct did you enjoy your smoothie. I can make more if you want.”
“Really? Thanks, Y/N.” Noctis cheered.
“I’ll get you one too, Prompto.” You smiled moving into the kitchen where Ignis was washing dishes.
Ignis glanced as you began setting up the blender, watching as you placed in a few fruits, followed by a ton of vegetables and blending it until it appeared a pink color, topping it with a few more strawberries.
“Love, have you been...”
“Putting enough vegetables in his smoothies for the last two weeks to take down a King Behemoth? Yes, yes I have.” You smiled.
Ignis could only chuckle as you moved back out to the living room to give the two younger boys their smoothies. He knew that he loved you for a reason.
“Can I keep this? It smells like you…”
Clarus looked up from his desk, signing something without really looking at the document. He steepled his fingers after placing the pen down, looking at Noctis quietly.
"Do you really want an ancient jacket that I've had for forever?" He questioned softly. "If it will bring you some sort of comfort, then you may."
Lost to Time - Chapter 32
Chapter 32: Lighthouse
It was still early in the morning when Amara and the other's decided to go ahead and get back on the road, much to the barely awake Noctis's disappointment. Between complaints of wanting more sleep and wanting to do more fishing, she wasn't too sure how he managed to get everything put away back in the armiger, let alone follow them back to their vehicles without stumbling over himself. For leg of the drive, as short as it looked to be, Ignis decided to take control of the Regalia, leaving Prompto to cheerfully volunteer to ride with Amara. So, for the short hope through the tunnel and to a large dirt parking area below the Cape Caem Lighthouse, Prompto held onto his seat behind his former classmate while the others followed at a safe distance in the car. Not too worse for wear, Prompto made a little quip about being happy to see Talcott again as he hopped off the bike, leaving Amara to roll it over to the large billboard to park under a little bit of shelter. The others, including a (thankfully) more awake Noctis soon joined her, looking up at the hill they needed to climb in order to reach the lighthouse.
Gladiolus was the first to grumble out a comment, though it seemed he was looking at their goal instead of the path. "Woah, pretty impressive lighthouse."
"What's say we head on up?" Prompto was too happy for being awake so early. He gently smacked his friend's shoulder. "C'mon Noct."
Ignis chuckled, looking at Amara for a moment. "Ought to be a nice view, if a bit blustery."
"I think I saw a path up there." The redhead gave him a small smile before taking off. There was indeed a path of sorts not far up the slope, and after only a few feet, they realized there was something else there too.
"Hey, Cindy!"
"What's up?"
The blonde smiled, crossing her arms. "Knew it was ya'll! Recognize the purr of that engine anywhere!"
prompto copied her motion as he walked up beside his friend, looking impressed.
"Whew! You know your stuff."
Iris giggled, giving a quick goodbye before heading up the hill alone, leaving everyone else there with Cindy. Finally, Noctis looked at her. "How's the boat?"
"Paw-paw's tinkering away. Reckon he'll be tinkering for some time."
Ignis seemed concerned. "Trouble as sea?"
The woman shrugged, turning to lead everyone up the hill. "Seen her share, by the looks of her. Some parts we can fix, others need replacin'."
Gladio shook his head with a grunt. "An overhaul."
Cindy didn't seem deterred at all, instead smiling brightly. "Don't y'all worry. Paw-paw ain't goin' nowhere 'til the job's done. Parts won't fetch 'emselves, though. Was kinda hopin' y'all wouldn't mind helpin' out with that?"
The advisor nodded. "We're at your disposal."
"To tell the truth, we already got a couple hands on deck: Dustin an' Monica. Those two have been real swell. Managed to gather just about everything we need."
"You can depend on the Crownsguard," Amara commented, looking back at everyone as she walked ahead of the group. "They'll usually do whatever they have to and do it well."
The other woman nodded, suddenly looking a little upset. "Trouble is, they ain't had much luck findin' a certain somethin' by the name of "mithril". Apparently the stuff's hard to come by around these parts, least accordin' to the little fella from the city."
"Talcott?"
"You betcha! Sharp as a tack, that one. Could tell y'all more about the stuff'n I could."
"We'll be sure to ask," Noctis confirmed, giving Prompto a glance before noticing Cindy had stopped walking. The others stopped not far ahead when the woman gave them a smile.
"Paw-paw's down on the dock. Now if y'all'd excuse me, I'm gonna grab my tools and skedaddle. Got a garage to look after."
"Thanks for the help Cindy."
"Ain't nothin'! Good luck."
The group watched the woman head off to gather her stuff before heading off themselves, but as they were reaching the top of an old staircase carved out of the rock face, they became aware of something calling for Noctis. A quick glance over towards the source made them notice Talcott waving excitedly from the porch of a weather-beaten house, so they changed direction to head over to him. As soon as they approached, it seemed that little Talcott went right into professional mode, only exchanging a few hellos before looking up at Noctis.
"I think Miss Cindy might've told you already, but she needs a very special kind of ore called mithril to fix the boat. Remember the waterfall? I read in Grandpa's notebook there's some ruins near a lake just north of there. It said you'll find mithril inside!"
"Hey, thanks for the great info Talcott!"
"Of course, if you guys are going to leave to find it soon, be careful."
"Yeah." Noctis gave the boy a smile, then looked over to where Iris was standing, patiently waiting her turn. "Iris?"
"Well. About that lake: pretty sure he was talking about the Vesperpool. I asked Monica to look into it, and she told me the road leading there's under imperial lockdown. You'll wanna be ready for anything."
"You're right. We'll make sure we're ready before heading out."
"Yeah, just… give us a second." Gladio was unusually quick to jump in, giving his sister a worried look.
"Uh, okay? I'll be inside, then."
Once Iris and Talcott had made their way inside, the Shield was slow to look at his friends, and more specifically at Noctis.
"So yeah, gonna have to ask you to handle this boat business without me."
Prompto gasped, almost jumping forward. "Say wha?"
"Got some business of my own to deal with."
Noctis took a breath but nodded. "Do your thing. Not like we could stop you anyway."
That seemed to put the taller man a bit more at ease. "You know me too well. See ya 'round guys."
Amara rolled her eyes, whistling to get his attention as he tried to leave. The man seemed a bit surprised when she threw the keys to her motorcycle at him, but she just gave him a wave. "Don't fuck it up and we'll be fine."
With another nod, Gladio turned to make his way back down the hill, heading off to do whatever the hell it was he had his mind on. The others seemed a little bit unnerved by his departure, and the woman could feel their eyes on her as she watched her friend disappear from view. But they didn't have time for that. She decided it was her turn to go get some stuff done – namely checking their supplies and talking to Monica about a few things before they left for the Vesperpool. Knowing that there would likely be a good period of time passing before they could come back, she checked and rechecked everything, acting almost as if she was about to deploy on a Glaive mission.
It was actually kind of impressive to watch.
Before too long the group was saying their goodbyes and heading down to retrieve the Regalia, with the younger men snagging the back seat to themselves so Amara could be up front, and on point. Ignis didn't say anything, but he saw her summon a gun from her armiger and slip it into the map pocket of the passenger door.
"It's going to a be a few hours until we get there, but while we're there we should definitely take advantage of being in the area," the woman turned to look at her former classmates in the backseat. "There's a tomb in a forest there."
"Great, so we can grab the ore, and get a new Arm all in one go?"
"Not quite? It looks like the tomb and the ruins are on opposite sides of the Vesperpool, however , it shouldn't be too hard to get both while we're there. Y'know, if we can get past the imperial blockage undetected."
"Doubtful."
"Do you think they're be much of a fight?"
Something in Amara's mind was screaming at her to be careful, so she shook her head. "No. I think we may just get "help" again."
Now that got a groan out of everyone else in the car, but not much else. They group fell into a bout of silence, the younger men deciding to pull out their phones and distract themselves for the time being while the duo upfront scanned the road ahead. Ignis was clearly allowing himself a fair bit of leniency with the Regalia's speed, and within the first hour they were passing the waterfall where the tomb had been hidden.
"The waterfall cave was down there," Ignis remarked as they crossed the bridge, leaving Prompto to stick his head up front.
"That means the lake should be to the north!"
"Yes, but we must be careful – where we go the Empire tends to follow."
Amara nodded. "Even if the Vesperpool is under lockdown, I doubt the Niffs wouldn't vall in some backup just for us."
Ignis hit the switch to put up the car's roof as a few raindrops began to fall. They fell back into silence as the downpour started, drumming on the roof with a steady rhythm until another sound interrupted it. A siren was going off as a set of large metal doors appeared ahead of them, opening up for them as they got closer. The group exchanged an unsettled glance as they entered the tunnel the door had sealed off, Prompto finally breaking the silence after a moment.
"Wait – what happened to "under imperial lockdown"?"
Ignis slowed the car to a stop, turning to look back at where they entered. "They all but turned the key and left the gates open for us – as if awaiting our arrival."
The younger blond groaned for a moment. "And if anyone's waiting for us, I bet it's that guy."
"Chancellor Izunia," the advisor agreed, looking to Amara as she rolled her eyes.
"Can't complain as long as he lets us in," Noctis almost sounded as if he were disappointed.
"That doesn't mean he'll let us out," his friend sighed, looking at her boyfriend, then the others. "We need to be careful, guys."
Ignis nodded. "Not to mention we're a man down. Would that the marshal were here with us. No offense to you Amara, but when it comes to dealing with him…"
"I don't want to be involved either." She made a motion at him, and finally Ignis began to drive again, soon bringing them out of the long tunnel and out onto a rain-soaked road lined on each side by tall cliffs. Having to turn his focus to not hydroplaning around the curves, they were all less than thrilled when he slowed again not long after reaching a straight part of the road.
"An imperial blockade."
"Oh, there's the "under imperial control"."
Ignis stopped the car, opening the door soon after. "We must be doubly cautious!"
"Right," Noctis looked at them. "No room for error here."
Amara was one of the first to start for the imperials, eyeing the battery soldiers with a less than impressed look as they began firing at her, then the guys as they closed in behind her.
She was heading for that MA-Veles that had decided to start firing rockets at them, which she heard exploding around her as she warped through the air. Amara warped in, aiming for the cockpit, which she thrust a broadsword through the glass of. The blood of the human pilot splattered across the remainder of the screen before she sent the weapon back into the armiger so she could leap away from it. Summoning her scythe, she turned to breaking down the mech's weak 'legs', listening to bodies begin to hit the pavement behind her. Pouring her magic into the weapon allowed the weapon to be brought down easily (though she was partially sure it was because the mech was so old). In fact, as soon as she got away from the explosion the walking tank erupted into, she realized that none of the forces had been very strong. They had been such a pathetic fight, that even the guys looked concerned.
"Something's off here."
"Why would they have such weak forces up here to "meet" us?"
Ignis adjusted his glasses, turning to head back for the car some few yards away. "Doubtless part of one of Izunia's ploys to make us lower our guard. Come, it will do us no good to ponder it now."
In which Nyx Ulric seems cursed to walk in on EVERYONE having sex and wonders if he is the only one in all of Insomnia NOT getting laid today. Check the reblogs for the AO3 link.
It was as if His Majesty had declared an official Everybody Gets Laid Day but no one told Nyx Ulric. He just came in to drop off the latest reports from the warfront with the King. That’s it. That’s all Nyx had to do today and the rest would be spent drinking beer and watching the professional chocobo racing semi-finals. Simple day. When he knocked on the door to King Regis’ office, however, his day turned from simple to weird in 2.53 seconds. “Bullocks, I forgot Nyx was coming! Quickly Clarus…” “Regis, I was almost coming…” Nyx raised a suspicious eyebrow and wondered if he should knock again. When he heard a muffled umf from the other side he decided against it. Were they…noooooo, they couldn’t be…could they? “One moment, please!” Regis called out, a hint of mild distress in his voice. Nyx cleared his throat. “In your own time, Your Majesty.” He heard some shuffling and the distinct sound of a chair being dragged across the hard wood floor then someone, presumably Regis, loudly clearing their throat. “You may enter.” Nyx shook his head, trying to rid himself of the thoughts of were His Majesty and Clarus Amicitia really just… He pushed open the heavy doors and approached the desk where the King sat looking as pristine and regal as ever. Nyx bowed and placed the thick folder containing the reports requested of him on the desk. “Here are the reports from the warfront as requested, Your Majesty. Our forces are holding the newest influx of Imperial warships at bay for the time being. They aren’t gaining any ground, but neither are we. Captain Drautos is requesting reinforcements.” Before Regis could respond, a faint scuffing sound came from under the large desk. Nyx could not help but look down and when he did his eyes widened at the sight of the toe of a boot juuuuust peaking out. Regis seemed frozen in place. “I’lllookitoverthankyouNyx,” Regis prattled his words together. “Thatisallyouaredismissed.” It took every ounce of concentration Nyx had to look up from the boot he knew did not belong to Regis and every ounce of balance to bow without falling on his face. “Y-yes Your Majesty…um…good day.” He turned on his heals and literally power walked to the door. Nyx had retreated from the bloodiest of battles with less urgency than that of which he swung open the doors of the Kings office and ran like his life depended on it. And after interrupting Regis and Clarus now undoubtedly having sex, he wasn’t sure his life DIDN’T depend on it.
……………………………………..
Once he was a safe distance away from that office he stopped to catch his breath. Not that he couldn’t run faster and farther than any other Glaive save for possibly the captain, but what he was running from had knocked the wind clean out of him. He needed to wash his face and take a leak. Yes, he thought, that would help. He could then go home and watch the races and never have to think of the King and the Shield… Nope. Not thinking about it. By the time he reached the nearest restroom, the initial shock had mostly worn off. Good for them, he thought. Two old widowers finding love again…kinda romantic if he thought about it that way. Nyx wished for a passing moment if he would ever find love. His last girlfriend had been a clingy, nagging bitch and the boyfriend before her cheated and blamed HIM for “never being dtf.” No one would ever understand his life of service to the crown, he thought. Nyx was relieved to find the bathroom empty. Not many were in this wing of the citadel at this time of day, so he could at least relieve himself in peace. So he whistled an idle tune as he did so, and almost sprayed the damn ceiling when he was startle by a loud BANG! Someone, or rather two someones, arms tangled around each other and seemingly attached at the face, had just burst through the bathroom door. Was that…noooo…Astrals, that WAS him. First Clarus and now GLADIOLUS Amicitia! The other man, shorter with a much slighter build, dark blonde hair, and glasses was…what was his name? The Prince’s adviser he knew for sure. Something flamey, right? Nyx wasn’t sure how long he had been standing there at the urinal dick in hand staring at the young couple, or how long the couple had been staring back at him before he realized crap, I should probably put my dick away now. “Don’t mind me,” Nyx said before his brain could stop his mouth. “Just…peeing. Done now.” He zipped himself up and tiptoes around the couple who just stood frozen like a centuries old erotic statue that made schoolboys giggle in order to get to the sink to wash his hands for not as long as health code dictates. Once again, Nyx rushed out of a room so two people who were apparently trying to fuck could have their privacy. He wiped his wet hands on his coat and laughed. “Damn, did I miss a “National Fuck Day” memo or something? At least all the love in the air wasn’t making the front of his pants get tight. No, not in the least.
……………………………………..
After accidentally witnessing two “encounters” in the span of five minutes, Nyx needed fresh air. A nice walk in the gardens should clear his fuddled head, right? Right. Once again the shock wore off as he strolled through one of the citadel’s many gardens and he found himself happy for Gladiolus and…DAMN what was his name? Two people who served the crown, who understood how important duty was to each other, were able to find time to share an intimate moment. Now Nyx was jealous. Why couldn’t he have that? He whistled as he strolled along and - IGNACIO! That was the advisers name. Now Nyx could stop kicking himself for being a dumbass. At any rate he whistled and strolled along peacefully until he was just about ready to head home, shower, jerk off, throw on some sweatpants, and settle down with pizza, beer and the tv remote. That was until he heard a faint sound – specifically a faint moan – from behind one of the hedges. Not again, he thought. As he continued walking trying and failing to ignore the erotic sounds, they grew louder and Nyx realized with a sinking feeling he was getting closer to rather than farther from the action. “Mm yes Prompto…” “Fuck, Noct, you feel so good…” Nyx. Froze. Right. There. Noct? Noctis? As in PRINCE Noctis? Nyx had to know. Curse his life dammit he HAD to know! He marched to the hedge the sound was coming from, swung back the branch…and immediately regretted every life decision that had lead him to this time and place. On the ground on his knees was a young blond haired blue eyed man who Nyx vaguely recognized from a few photos who was currently BALLS DEEP in the PRINCE who lay on his back with his legs pushed up against his chest. Upon seeing Nyx, both men screamed. As did Nyx. When the screaming had subsided, Nyx just stood there with jaw on the ground while Noctis and…he called him Pom-something-or-other, Nyx neither knew nor cared, scrambled around on the ground search for their cloths. “Nyx, what the hell!!!” Noctis shouted as he stood and shimmied into his pants. “First you’re gonna cock block me and now you’re just gonna stand there like an ass?!” Nyx blinked rapidly. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry it’s just…FUCK!” He threw up his hands and stepped back. “First the fathers, then both sons, Shiva’s TITS how is this my LIFE!?” And for the third time that afternoon, Nyx got the hell out of there.
…………………………….
Finally, FINALLY Nyx was home. After a shower and some relief by his own hand he slipped into an old pair of sweatpants and a tshirt, ordered pizza and headed to the fridge. It was beer o’clock for Nyx, and it hadn’t come soon enough. He opened the door and reached for the shelf that was usually designated for alcohol… to find only one beer remaining. Well Hell. He wasn’t going back out lest he interrupt another session of dicking, so he sighed and accepted that one beer would have to do. He settled down on the couch and turned on the tv. The races were just about to start and Nyx smiled. Just in time. But as he watched the races, his mind drifted back to Noctis and his blond lover Pom-something. They started out friends and grew into lovers, Nyx mused. Damn. Everyone seemed to be finding love, or at least ass, except him. He knew Cor Leonis, the Crownsguard martial, was seeing someone, as was fellow Glaive Crowe Altus. He didn’t know of anyone else off hand, but the captain was always gallivanting off somewhere. Maybe he was with someone too? Nyx shrugged and downed the last swig of beer. Soon he heard his doorbell ring. Damn, he’d just gotten comfortable, too. Today was simply not the right day to by Nyx Ulric. He begrudgingly stood and went to answer the door, expecting pizza. What he saw when he answered the door was actually better: his lifelong friend Libertus, carrying a case of their favorite brew. Nyx smiled. “I love you.” Libertus laughed and entered through the open doorway. “Bit dramatic tonight, aren’t we? Have a rough day doing the captains job or what?” “Yeah, or what,” Nyx sort-of answered. “Man you wouldn’t believe the things I’ve seen today.” “Tell me about it!” Libertus said, setting the case of beer on the coffee table. “I saw something I’ll be prayin’ to Ifrit for the next hundred years to burn out of my mind.” Nys took his place in his recliner after grabbing a beer for himself, while Libertus sprawled out on the couch with his own. “Oh yeah?” Libertus nodded. “Crowe. Like a little sis to me, right? Well I went to the gym today to get my phone charger, and I had to walk in on her…” Libertus washed down a look of disgust with a long drink from his can. “I walked in the locker room and there she was on the bench gettin’ fucked by, you ain’t gonna believe this shit, COR LEONIS!!! Nyx actually laughed in spite of himself. “Man, I wish I could say I was surprised, but I learned something fun about our King today.” Libertus, wide eyed, slammed his beer on the table. “Fuck off!” “His Majesty and his Shield, Clarus Amicitia. I went to drop off those reports like Drautos was supposed to have done yesterday, right?” Well I heard’em fumbling around in there and when the King finally let me in Clarus was hiding under the desk. UNDER the DESK, can you believe that shit?” Libertus slowly shook his head. “I need another beer. Okay, okay,” he reached for one more can from the case, “I got another one for ya. Crowe and Cor aren’t the only Glaive-Guard match-up going on. When I went out to the parking lot I saw Luche and Monica steaming up the windows of Luche’s car.” “Now THAT I’m surprised at. I though Luche was was on a strict sausage diet!” Libertus laughed. “Apparently not. Unless there’s something Monica ain’t tellin’ us about then-” Libertus was interrupted by the doorbell. “That’d be pizza!” Nyx excitedly declared. “Lemme get this and I’ll tell you who ELSE I caught together today.” “DAMN! Was today some kinda sex holiday that I forgot about?” “I know right!” Pizza way paid for and divvied out, and the chocobo races were long forgotten in the midst of two grown men gossiping like schoolgirls. “So,” Nyx mumbled around a mouth full of pepperoni and cheese, “I was in the bathroom at the citadel takin a leak. In stumble Gladiolus Amicitia and Ignacio, groping and stuck to each others faces.” Libertus made a strange face. “Gladiolus and who?” “The Prince’s adviser. You know him?” Libertus laughed so hard and long he made himself cough. “I know him but apparently you don’t. The name’s IGNIS you dingus!” Nyx rolled his eyes. “Whatever, I was close wasn’t I? Anyway, The adviser and shield to the Prince are together and speaking of the Prince, I caught HIM getting fucked six ways to Saturday by some blond guy in the palace gardens.” “Whathahell,Mn!” Libertus tried to say with his mouth full of stuffed crust. He swallowed and washed his fourth slice of pizza down with another swig of his third beer. “Is everybody gettin’ tail but us?” Nyx shrugged. “Apparently. I haven’t had anyone but Rosy Palm sense I dumped that bimbo Steph three months ago.” Libertus let out a low whistle. “You’re loooong overdue, Buddy. Then again it’s been almost two months for me.” For some reason it went silent after that. The races were half over and they had no idea who was on the leaderbord. They didn’t care though. It was nice to just be two buddies with pizza, booze, and each others company.
Libertus stretched and stood. “Not headin’ out already are you?” Nyx asked. “Hell no, you can’t get rid of me that easy.” He pointed his thumb towards the bathroom. “Gonna break the seal.” Nyx nodded and for some inexplicable reason watched his friend walk away. Did his hips always…sway like that? Hu. Nyx turned up the tv while Libertus was in the bathroom, intending to catch up on what he’d missed of the races in favor of gossip. His favorite racer was on the leaderbord, so he was happy. Libertus returned soon and sat on one side of the couch instead of sprawling out like he had before. Nyx yawned and stood. “My turn.” As he walked away he got the distinct feeling of being watched, but it wasn’t unpleasant. In fact he was sure he didn’t mind a bit if Libertus was staring at his ass. If Nyx was anyone but himself, he’d stare at his ass, too. He wasn’t too humble to admit he had a nice ass. So did Libertus, actually… funny, he’d never considered his best friend’s ass before but now that he did, it was a good thing his pants were as baggy as they were because hello… Man, he was one thirsty sunuvabitch. A commercial for some kind of candy was on when he returned and instead of going back to his recliner, Nyx sat on the couch next to Libertus. He sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. Libertus rested a reassuring hand On Nyx’s shoulder. “Guys like us got it rough, my friend. It’s hard to find someone who understands the sort of life we live and even when we do, who has time to actually do anything? Nyx laughed humorlessly. “Apparently five different couples judging by what we saw today. I don’t know how the ones you saw ended up together, but Regis and Clarus, they’ve both had broken hearts and patched each other up. Gladiolus and IGNIS, I got it right that time, they understand each other because they both run circles around the Prince, and then the Prince and the blonde kid started off as friends and now they’re apparently lovers.” Libertus nodded thoughtfully. “Where’s that for us?” Broken hearts. Service to the crown. Friends. Nyx eyed Libertus carefully to judge weather or not his friend was thinking the same thing as him. And was it just him or did Libertus’ hand seen to be slowly sliding down his back? He chanced a full look at Libertus now and…were they…yup, their faces were closer, much closer, no more than a couple inches apart. Nyx smiled. “I think I just found it.” Nyx never hesitated with anything, so he didn’t hesitate to close the distance between them and kiss the man who’d been his best friend sense before he could remember. Libertus, to Nyx’s relief, welcomed the kiss, returning is with more intensity than Nyx had imagined. He slipped the hand that had in fact been making its way down Nyx’s back under the back of Nyx’s shirt. It was bold, but then so was Libertus, and it made Nyx hum against Libertus’ mouth and deepen the kiss. Nyx hands found his new lover’s thigh, and Libertus shifted his hips, causing Nyx fingers to brush against a very impressive bulge. Eventually Nyx had to breath, and as munch as he hated to admit it, he couldn’t do that very well with someone else’s tongue down his throat. So he pulled away and opened his eyes to be met with a lustful gaze from Libertus. “You know,” Nyx said somewhat breathlessly, “You’ve had a bit to drink tonight.” Libertus chuckled. “You’re not taking advantage of me, if that’s what you’re worried about.” Nyx smirked. “No, it’s just that it might not be legal for you to drive. Wanna crash here tonight?” He made his true intentions known with a wink and a subtle roll of his hips. Libertus smiled that warm welcoming smile that Nyx had grown to love over the years, and hoped he would grow to love even more. He didn’t say a word, but he answered with a kiss.
“You’ve been so good, you deserve a treat~”
BDSM Kink Sentence Starters |NSFW| - @oldamicitia
They had been in a session, the break between meetings for Clarus and his father meaning the older man could come and pamper his companion. Say nothing about the fact that he was the son of the single most powerful men in the country, or that technically Clarus had both of them on a rather short leash. Regis had been busy with something until their next meeting some number of hours later, leaving the shield no small amount of time to work the prince through his paces. Most of it had been spent as the sessions normally had, Noctis on hands and knees ready to receive anything that would be given to him, only that this time he was to received and not get the gratification that he wanted so badly.
Instead, all Clarus had done was roughly prepare him, using the distraction that he sensation provided to snap a ring on him, earning nothing short of a low moan from the young man. He knew that it meant he wouldn’t be allowed to find release until Clarus had decided he was done, or it was time for him to go to his meeting. Noctis was a moment from asking him if it was necessary today, before he was pulled back onto the sinful member, his shaft pressing into him in every manner he could possibly think of. It was showing just how much skill and experience the other had, that he started slow just barely long enough for Noctis to get used to his girth, before he pushed the prince away, adjusting hands to hold onto hips before slamming into him. There was no point in being silent, the only one that would hear them being Gladio and he knew full well that his father was entertaining his lover because he’d apparently ‘failed to deliver.’
Had it been just once it would have been one thing, but Clarus had apparently wanted nothing more than to take him on any and every surface in the room. Toys and things were introduced part of the way through, cuffs the most notable among them as he made sure to play up his role of master. And all the while, the Prince of Lucis was panting and moaning, trying once or twice to grind his painfully erect cock into whatever surface he was against in an attempt to either divest himself of the damn ring, or relieve some of the pressure that threatened to turn him into a begging mess. All the while he was being plowed into, words of reverence and care whispered into his ear. How he was being a good boy, taking it for so long and not trying anything.
What had seemed like an eternity later, he sat with shoulders pressed into the man’s bed, on his knees with his ass up in the air and hands bound behind his back. His master was satisfied and he was exhausted, drooling on the bed and wanting nothing more than to be fucked until he came and blacked out. But he wouldn’t be given that pleasure yet, one of Clarus’ least used toys finding it’s home in his gaping hole and the familiar click of a switch the only warning he got before the plug he’d been graced with started vibrating harshly, dragging more moans from the black haired man. The only thing that could be arguably worse was that he was still full, and the silicone device kept him from solving the problem he found himself with. A hand on his rear and the sight of Clarus’ face appearing before his half lidded and sex hazed eyes brought about another moan, because he knew that it meant the man was going to leave him like this.
“You’ve been so good, you deserve a treat~” he spoke quietly, giving a slap to his cheek before leaving, the door clicking shut but not locking a reminder that he should not make any noise lest someone come and find him.
What couldn’t have been twenty minutes of torture later, the door opened again, followed by the heavy footsteps of his lover, the younger Amicitia. He could hear the man’s intake of breath, and his approach brought him within his line of sight. Apparently his father had left the keys to the handcuffs for Gladio, if suddenly being able to hold weight on semi-cooperative arms was anything to go by. His swell of excitement at finally being able to find release was squished as he was arranged with the man he love’s cock pressing against his face. He didn’t need instructions, mouth parting for him to use his mouth as he pleased.
It wasn’t long, though the pace that was set left nothing of his state of mind to the imagination. Gladio had grabbed him by the back of the head and rutted into his mouth with abandon, and the moment that Noctis could taste the bitterness of pre-come on his tongue he pulled away and eased the toy from his abused hole. Two thrusts of fingers was all he was given, thighs shaking from pleasure as his father’s come finally made it’s way down his legs the moment Gladio pressed his own member into that waiting ass.
There was no gentle preparation, Noctis knowing he didn’t need it and Gladio likely wanted nothing more than to claim his lover for himself again, and being able to do so on his father’s bed was a dream come true. Jean clad legs found purchase on either side of his legs, pressing himself into Noctis for just a moment before he reeled back and slammed into him, fucking him like the toy that Clarus had made out of him.
The pace was brutal, his legs giving out and landing him flat on the bed while he was claimed so thoroughly, teeth and lips on the back of his neck. “G-Gla-AH! Gladio please! I want to come, please sir.... Please can I come?” His begging earned him a laugh, punishment stopping for just a moment so he could release him from that torturous ring that had him having dry orgasms, one after another for what had arguably been a few hours. It was the only reprieve he got, before he was again used as a sleeve for these men to find pleasure, the feeling of Gladio’s too big member nailing him to the bed as the door opened once more and a grunt from Clarus sounded.
He was shifted, pulled up so he sat impaled on his shield’s cock while his master crossed the room to offer an opinion. Would that he stayed still, but Gladio continued his pace, holding Noctis’ hips down and fucking him hard, only pausing for a moment to fill him and replace the seed that he’d already been stuffed with before starting again. All it would take was the elder of the three to grab a hold of his cock, thumb pressing into the head and leaning close to him.
‘Come for him, show him just how much you love having him take you in such a way. Surely you don’t love having his father make a mess of you more than you enjoy it from him?’
It was all it took, Noctis coming with a scream and arching back against his shield. Every touch from the two translated into strangled cries and enough pent up arousal to have him sagging against Gladio spent and on the verse of passing out. Over his head he could hear Clarus praising his son, that he never quite saw something so impressive out of his son’s lover. Whatever Gladio’s response was was lost to Noctis, head lolling back against the other as his body gave up its attempts to listen to what it was they were speaking about. When he awoke again later, it would be in Gladio’s arms, held closely and clean of their afternoon save the hickies and bites his shield had used to stake his claim.
‘Go back to sleep. My father gives his praises for your performance today. Hopefully though, he’ll leave us to our own thing from now on.’ He didn’t need to be told twice, snuggling close to the warm body and wrapped in what he could only assume was one of the blankets from Clarus’ room. He’d earned his rest and he was damn well going to take it, and his body couldn’t have agreed more as the aches and pains of the day made themselves known.
“B-be nice... nex-xt time...”
What if Regis and Clarus wear matching wedding rings around their necks, but keep them hidden under their clothing because the King can't marry his Shield.
They always wanted to marry but ended up in political marriages, Regis is lucky enough to find a friend in Aulea but Clarus never really got on with his wife. So when both women are gone, they keep their relationship a secret to protect their reputations and children.
Come the evenings though, they wear them proudly on their hands and don't care when the kids see them because the three of them know the pair should be married, but the Councillors have their heads so far up their asses that they can't.
When Noct's King and sitting on the throne that law changes immediately, and he, Gladio and Iris make sure everyone knows how much Regis and Clarus loved one another.
Cor admits that Aulea 'Shipped them so hard her heart hurt'
Aulea: Ifrit's ass Regis, will you just fuck Clarus /please/ I'll drag (insert mama Amicitia's name here) to Galdin for a few days. If I come home and you haven't banged him you're sleeping on the couch for two weeks.
You where curled up on the couch in a warm blanket, it was a calm morning, Christmas, nice and calm. Noctis was laying on the couch with his arms around you still half asleep. Gladio was behind you with you in his lap arms around you as well as his face hidden in your shoulder. You ran your hands in both of their hairs slowly as you fought off sleep yourself. Ignis was in the kitchen with Prompto making a meal for you all to enjoy before getting to the tree to open the gifts you all got for each other.
The room had soft music playing from the tv as you’re eyes started to drop and feel more heavy. You tried to fight that urge to fall asleep, wanting to stay awake and wait for prompto and ignis to be done. With a soft whine Gladio shifted and held you tighter. “Sleep” Gladio mumbled as he leaned back a little more to let his body fall back more into the long couch. Noct gave a annoyed grumble as his body slipped further down on you. Feeling your eyes slowly close you kept them closed, but not fully asleep. Gladio was glad to have you in his arms before the others got to you, then again you did have times you would just give most attention to each boy at different times as they would be with someone else.
Gladio started to rub your side with his larger hand, it was warm and comforting nothing to far, as he kept it calm and tame as he knew Ignis would maybe get a little grumpy for starting something this early on christmas. It didn’t take long before a han light touches your shoulder with a small shake, as well as feeling Noctis grumble burying his face into you’re lag. “Come on you two, wake up” Ignis said with a warm tone. Blinking a few times you’ve rubbed your eye looking up at him. He had on a more comfy shirt, it might have been gladios maybe? It was something you all did. Stealing each others close when you could. Well other then gladio as he was a little to… large.
“Noct, come on” you mumbled in a sleepy voice running fingers in his hair. Noct slowly turned his head to look up at you with one eye open as his cheek squished having his other eye closed. “But im comfy” he mumbled. In a mess of words in his sleepy voice. “Yea well we made food, come on before i eat you’re bacon” Prompto said as he lifted nocts place in his view. It took Noct a moment to think, would it be worth losing some bacon over the comfort of your lap.
“Noct.. move your ass” Gladio grumbled from behind you as he was still worse a tired look on your face. Noct huffed as he slowly sat up and stretched his arms up with a yawn. Glad to have him off your legs you moved to place a kiss on his face as you got up letting the blanket fall. Moving away before any of them could grab you, you wondered on over to the plates with a smile. “This looks good” you said with a smile. It was eggs, with bacon and sausage, with fruit in a small bowel, and juice.
“It looks good iggy” you mumbled as he came back over to the table, placing a kiss on his cheeks having to get on your toes to do it. Ignis found it slightly amusing as he leaned down a little to let you place the kiss. “Heyyyy” Noctis whined a little as he was coming t the table seeing prompto holding his bacon. “What, you took forever” he chuckled feeding it to Noctis as he came over half slumped on his shoulder.
It was a nice breakfast with Noct looking half dead and sleepy, normally he would try to sleep in much more longer but was forced awake. You wondered if he always just held that sleepy look on his face all the time and most of the time he did. “Noct, you’re father called this morning he wanted us to come to the citadel, you’re father and Iris are going to be there as well Gladio” Gladio gave a hum as he helped Ignis clear the plates as you all finished your food placing them into the sink to be washed later. Noctis gave a small grumble about not wanting to wear a suit or having to really dress up. “I think you’re father would let it slide if you just throw a t-shirt on and jeans Noct” you said leaning on you’re hand pushing around the eggs.
Noctis have a hum as he leaned on prompto looking at you watching you push the eggs left on your plate. “You okay?” Prompto asked as he let his head fall on noctis looking at you. “Hm? Oh, yea im fine why?” “normally you don’t push your eggs around, you normally at least eat part of them” “oh, i am just full, it was a large meal” taking the plate in your hands you scraped the food off into the trash and set to work on the dishes. “Hey, no, me and Noct was going to do them later tonight” Gladio said as he grabbed you by you waist. “What, no come on Gladioooo, i was going to do this today” Gladio shook his head as he placed you down in the living room back on the couch.
Ignis was taking some of the gifts out from under the tree placing them down on the coffee table. “We can do them when we come back from the citadel, or maybe tomorrow morning, i will let it slide for now” Prompto took the spot next to you already cuddling you’re side, you welcomed the blond as you placed a kiss on his head with a smile.
It was a simple time, with smiles kisses and love around each other as they opened their gifts from each other and relaxed in the nice morning and fresh christmas air. Chewing on your bottom lip as they talked calmly with each other you’re hands resting in your lap playing with a soft chocobo plush prompto got for you. Running your fingers over the soft fur. With a small nod to yourself you stood up. “I..i have one more gift for you guys, and it’s for all of you. The guys stopped talking as they looked confused glancing at each other. Ignis set a limit for you guys, as he didnt want you all to go over the top, but you knew they wouldn’t. “Just.. wait here”
You left to the bedroom leaving the four of them confused and wondering. Stepping into the bedroom you closed the door with a soft click. Leaning back on the door you took another deep breath, you’re nerves were on end, and well… you had no fucking idea how they would react to what you where about to do. You moved around to the bedroom to the closet opening it and having to dig around inside of it until you pulled the box out. You just put it in there yesterday and there was about 4 of them inside of the box. It was a larger box tho, placing it down on the bed you stared at it. Inside of the box was a small little bear, as well as a small baby hat, a bib and a pacifier. Under that was a layer of tissue paper with 4 positive pregnancy tests.
You’re hands started to shake as you started to fear what they would do or even say. Moving a hand you lightly brushed it over your stomach where a bump would start to form soon. You just about jumped out of your skin hearing the door click open causing you to spin around pushing the box a little more behind you. Ignis was standing there as he slowly opened the door. “Love?” he questioned looking at you. You looked at him with a surprised, fearful look almost like a deer in headlights. “Are you okay?” he questioned letting the door click behind him.
You nod a little as you push the box behind you a little more to try and hide it from his view. “You been in here for a while” Ignis said as he came closer lightly putting his hand on your shoulder lightly rubbing it. “I-i was?” you questioned raising an eyebrow. He nods to you before looking at your eyes. “Are you sure you are fine?” you nod again before giving him a small smile. “Im fine Iggy i promise” you placed a kiss on his cheek with a smile. “Well… we are going to be heading to the citadel soon, would you be okay with bringing the gift there?”
You mouth went dry as you looked at him with a soft nod you glanced back at the box. “Sure, that would be fine” it would be fine, as Regis, Clarus, as well as Iris and cor knew about your relationship with the guys. They never really looked down on it, just agreed and moved along. Iris loved you as well as the others so it was a bonus.
Ignis wasn’t buying it at all as he looked at you. You turned him away and lightly pushed him forward. “Well, what are we waiting for, let’s get ready and head on over to the citadel” you smiled at him wide.
You could feel your stress and worry slowly boiling, and reaching it’s peak. Chewing your lip you held your box close to you not letting Gladio take it with a few other things they brought on over for the others and themselves. Gladio seemed to notice just how much of a death grip you held on this box, how you held it close to your chest or close to you’re middle not letting it go to far.
It was a calm time with hugs and welcomes, well almost calm for you. Coming into a room that was more of a family room. Regis was in more casual wear as he relaxed in a chair with Iris talking away her brothers ear, Prompto and Noct sat on the floor together playing on there phones, Cor was calmly talking with ignis cor, regis and clarus. You, you took a deep breath glancing at the box you placed next to you. The other gifts were already opened before you stood up catching there attention. “I..i have one last gift” you mumbled as you leaned over to pick it up carefully. Running a finger over the black wrapping paper with stars and snow around the place, with a blue bow on it. “It’s.. it’s for the guys” Regis was curious watching as you caught and torse away nocts and prompto attention from there game.
Chewing your lip you took a deep breath placing it down on the small coffee table. Motioning to a couch you waited for the four of them to sit down. Placing it on the coffee table in front of them you pushed the box to them waiting for one of them to make a move. It was Noctis that took the box first placing it into his lap. Clarus turned to watch them a little better and Ris was grinning like a idiot, she already knew as she questioned you buying the other things. Sitting there on the ground with her phone she started to record it with a wide smile. Regis was confused watching as Iris was recording and leaned into his arm.
Noctis pulled the bow apart and lifted the lid as prompto took it from him as he sat next to him. Moving some of the paper aside he was puzzled looking at it. On Nocts other side Ignis seemed to catch on quickly scanning the items as his eyes turned to you before the bx. Reaching inside he took the baby had in his hand running his fingers over the soft material. Gladio was curious as well as he sat next to prompto taking the very small bear into his hand looked at it. “y/n?” gladio questioned yoas he looked up at you his scared eyebrow raised.
Regis moved a hand to his mouth as he leaned on it looking at his son waiting for him to catch on as well as he already got it seeing the times that were pulled out followed by the other small baby items. It was prompto who caught the site of a pink items in the tissue paper. Lifting it prompto froze seeing it, his body was stiff as he started to stutter. Dropping the tissue paper he looked at you as his jaw dropped. Gladio turned his head as he reached inside of the box pulling it out as he blinked a few times taking notice of what he really was holding in his hand. “Love…” Ignis said in a soft voice. You’re hands were wrapped around yourself in a shy way looking at them all chewing your lip. Prompto just about flew over the coffee table.
With a surprised yelp mixed with a laugh you let him hold you. Prompto was hugging you tight. His arms held you close to his chest. Prompto was just about shaking as he held you. “Is..is it true?” he mumbled into your ear. “Y-yes is is promp…” you mumbled placing a kiss on his cheek. Prompto started to shake a little more as he let tears start to fall from his face.
Prompto pulled away from you with a large ass grin on his face as ignis was standing behind him. With a hand on promptos back he reached out to pull you into a hug as well placing a kiss on your head as you hid yourself into his chest. “Im glad” he mumbled into your [h/c] hair. Gladio was the next one taking you into his large strong arms. With a tight hug he just about lifted you into the air with a chuckle placing a kiss on your lips. Gladio was glad, hell he was over ecstatic about this. Smoothing you in his chest he moved back before glancing at Noctis. Noct was still on the couch holding a test. “It's… “ noctis couldn’t find words as he looked up at you. Walking closer to him he gripped the test in his hand as you came to stand in front og him. It took him a second as he looked up at you. Moving his arms around you he pulled you closer pressing his face into your stomach. Running your fingers in his hair you smiled.
You felt your shirt start to get wet and couldn’t help but laugh mixed with a cry as you felt tears fall from your face as well. Prompto moved to sit next to Nocts drying his face as well. Leaning on nocts he sniffled with a smile on his face. Noctis turned his head a little taking promptos hand to hold it tight. Ignis was at your side as well as Gladio . “well…” a voice said from behind them. Turning your head you came to look at clarus and regis as they grinned. “Looks like we are going to be grandparents now” Regis said with a large grin on his face, he looked like eh was going to cry as well from just hearing about this and seeing how close you all where.
With a sniffle you felt tears rush down your face from happiness, you were glad things went smoothly as you laughed. Gladio move his large hand to wipe your face. “We got you” Gladio said as he kissed your head. It was a nice warm feeling, it was great, you couldn’t help but laugh as they smothered you in love, as well as each other from just the joy of knowing they were going to be fathers, none of them cared really who the true father was going to be, they would love the child all the same.
Valses and Wine
Summary: The young prince of Tenebrae finds himself alone in the middle of an auspicious ball at Fenestala Manor which he quite enjoys the solitude, mind. Yet his supposed alone time was disturbed by a rather drunk marshal and his partner, Veritas Lux Seculum, who seems to have quite an effect on Ravus Nox Fleuret. Pairing: Ravus Nox Fleuret x Veritas Lux Seculum (OC) One shot
Ravus Nox Fleuret watched as black and white fabric whirled around in a haze in front of him, the rising and falling of orchestral notes ringing in his ears.
Tenebraens and Lucians in their most prized gowns and uniforms, laughter and jeers echoing shamelessly and spilling out the corridors, their lovingly polished weapons deposited outside the ballroom. Tonight was no room for military accoutrements.
Everyone smiled as they ate famous Tenebraen cuisine and enjoyed the best wines Fenestala Manor has to offer.
And yet here he was, feet solidly planted on the marble floor, hands plastered on his back as he observed the curious scenery, solitary and to be quite frank, a bit bored.
One would think he was sour or bitter just by standing there, but no. He was quite content, thank you very much.
He’d rather watch them all as they twirled around in the twelfth dance that night, the celebration seemingly extending way past midnight.
His feet took him to the direction of the dessert table, fingers hovering over a plate of lemon madeleines, lips curving at the side as he nibbled away on his seventeenth piece of biscuit.
The prospect of a hot cup of tea as he sat in front of the fire in his bedroom was thrilling, even more than the merry happenings in the grand ballroom of white, blue and silver reminiscent of snowflakes. He shoved another piece into his mouth and almost choked on it the moment he was sent sprawling forward, barely in time to catch his person.
Hurried apologies spilled through guilty lips.
“Oh I am so sorry! I hope I didn’t — oh for goodness sake, marshal, let go of that bloody cup! It’s not poisonous!”
Strong yet small hands hoisted him upwards amidst the conundrum before him, his eyes immediately darting to gaze at brown eyes that seemed conflicted at the moment.
At one second they were filled with concern, the next completely and utterly annoyed…at him?
Or not.
The figure turned fiercely at a man who looked to have been carved from a marble boulder, her finger wagging authoritatively at him.
“Cor, even for just one bloody second could you at least spare me your neurotic episodes? I’ve checked those wine bottles and THOSE cups. They’re not in any way, poisoned as you assumed them to be for the tenth time today. If they were, which they are certainly not, everyone would have dropped unconscious in the ballroom. Do you think they are?”
Ravus listened as he watched the famous and equally feared Cor Leonis grudgingly placing back the crystalline cup over the table. He doesn’t seem all too pleased with the prospect of being told off.
The lady who single-handedly told off the captain of the famous Lucian Crownsguard turned around to face him, her smile appearing just as her eyes alighted with an apologetic sheen.
“Pardon for the kerfuffle, young lord. We were just…inspecting. Were you hurt?”
Ravus shook his head, yet his hands shook somewhat. Odd. That never happened. Well, only during times when he discovered some new species or learning, of course. But was she a new discovery of his?
Pushing himself to reply for courtesy’s sake and for the hope of not looking like a complete dolt, he smiled.
“I am fine, you are quick on your senses, catching me quite on time. I assure you and the marshal, there is nothing that would incapacitate any of us here, for sure. Unless the wine had gotten bad for some reason.”
The lady chuckled, making a quick studying look on her partner to make sure he wasn’t about to do another inspection.
“Well, speaking of incapacitating, if the marshal does not stop taste testing every bloody wine or liquor for poison, the item in question would surely be the way to his own incapacitation should he drink another one — Cor! I swear if you lift another cup…are you drunk?!”
Hastily adding an excuse, the lady pushed the marshal away from the liquor stand, her short stature against his six foot three frame an odd sight in the ballroom.
Odd.
That word seemed to be a favorite of his quite recently, hasn’t it?
Out of the blue and seemingly in character with the recent oddness of things, Ravus found himself walking towards where the lady was sitting, her eyes peering into the marshal who seemed to wave her off with an annoyed look. Defeated and slightly ruffled, she took a sip from a tea cup.
With just one studying look, Ravus knew she was drinking tea. Odd. Not even champagne?
The lady immediately saw him, her eyes taking on that bright sheen again.
Without sparing a moment, Ravus held out his hand.
Could you spare me a moment for a dance?
The young lady took his hand without question and they danced in the ballroom as if no one was watching. But everyone was indeed watching. Anyone who had charmed the young but snobbish prince for a dance was worth the attention.
The lord in question thanked himself for taking those dancing lessons albeit begrudgingly. At least he did not step on her feet.
Curious and ever observant, Ravus noticed how petite she truly was and how small her feet looked, too.
His thoughts were rattled for a bit as the dance took on a quicker pace, and his heart pounded as he heard her laughter pleasantly landing on his ears. She missed a couple of steps, chuckling at herself for almost tripping over her dark, flowing dress fashioned in the Lucian tradition.
“Have you never danced a polka before?” he asked.
Her breathing was laboured, yet she was still able to laugh at her mistakes.
“Not on many occasions. Lucis prefer a more somber tone to their music. Valses, to be precise.”
“Ah. And are you fond of valses?”
“Yes, I am. Not only are they soothing, they’re also quite easy to practice when a dance is in the occasion. And you?”
“I am rather quite fond of them myself.”
The young woman tripped on herself yet the lord of Tenebrae was able to catch her, whirling her around to disguise their near tripping experience.
“Nice save, young lord.”
“I was trained to save myself from embarrassment, certainly.”
“I can’t keep this up!”
“Well you have to. Finish off what you start, that’s what my father told me.”
Ravus caught himself before he could say anything more. His father had been gone and buried beneath an altar in front of the Tenebraen oak for four years now and yet here he was, babbling on about him as if he was still here, whirling his mother in a dance or joking with his sister or drinking champagne in secret with him.
Odd, why had he thought of him at this very instant?
Taking him away from his reverie, the young woman replied after much scrutiny of his expression. She seem to be quite good at sensing emotions, Ravus thought.
“He’s right. Perhaps we should. Oh quickly! They’re all turning that way!”
“Oh!”
Ravus led her towards the dancing group and were now in sync with their ecstatic steps and delighted jeers.
Too soon, the dance ended. As quickly as it did, the young woman thanked him for the time and he escorted her back to the table.
King Regis sat watching, his dark eyes glinting in mirth. Beside him is Ravus’ own mother, the Oracle, Queen Sylva.
“Tea?”
The young woman offered to which he gratefully accepted.
Ravus happily sat down beside her, watching her carefully pouring him a cup of tea.
“I can assure you, it is not poisoned.”
Ravus laughed as he took a sip, his lips curling at the side in amusement.
Clarus curiously peered at the liquid slowly pouring into cups.
“Tea? At a ball? Tenebraen customs are very different than Lucian ones.”
“In Lucis, we drink wine at celebrations,” King Regis added.
“Well, we do prefer champagne during occasions, but I assure you, this is for the benefit of our younger company,” one of the Tenebraen nobles commented with a laugh.
“Speaking of liquids, Veritas, you told me Cor was sampling the liquor for poison.”
Ravus’ ears perked up, catching her name and memorising it fervently.
“Yes, your majesty.”
Her head perked up, eyes looking for the person in question.
“Oh I sent him off to bed. He’s completely and utterly —”
“Smashed,” Veritas replied. Concern then etched lines on her forehead, hoping her partner is able to sober up for the next day.
The Oracle, radiant in her delicately coifed hair and clad in her dress of white chiffon, laughed comfortably, her fingers reaching for the dessert plate.
“Oh that word does fit the marshal. I wonder how he is? Oh --” the Oracle noticed the way her son’s neck was craning over the table. “There are more lemon madeleines arriving shortly, my dear Ravus. I do know how much you care for them.”
In an instant, the young lady grew rigid. Achingly slow, she turned towards Ravus.
“Lord Ravus?”
“Yes?”
If blood was visible beneath the skin, then certainly Veritas was full of it, especially on the cheeks.
“Ah, forgive me! Where are my manners? Lord Ravus, I —”
“A little too late for that, do you think? It doesn’t matter. We have been introduced amidst a rather amusing…kerfuffle. I’m delighted we met that way. Better than being all stiff and rigid at a ceremony,” Ravus replied, tilting his head to Veritas’ direction and watched in amusement as she shifted in her seat.
“My goodness, your honesty truly is a characteristic present only in the young lord of Tenebrae!” King Regis laughed, raising his wine cup for another sip.
“Indeed. He’s rather proud of it,” said the Oracle as she sipped her champagne, eyes alight in mirth.
“Oh, that is a rather more pleasant, albeit comfortable way of introduction.”
“Emperor’s demise, is that how you both see the notion of pleasant and comfortable? How odd you are both!” Clarus chuckled, observing his fellow King’s Man (Woman) and the young lord.
“Surely, you will both assure us you are not, in fact….awkward?”
“Oh they are both awkward, no doubt about that.”
“I believe awkwardness is a rather precious trait. Better than being too…uptight, eh, Clarus?” Veritas retorted, feeling her small triumph giving herself a well deserved piece of Sylleblossom cake.
King Regis nearly spurted his drink, his eyes glistening, a warning of the bout of laughter that is about to erupt.
And sure enough, the King of Lucis, even for a moment, forgot that he was king and started laughing to no end, accompanied by the teasings of the Oracle who forgot that she was supposed to be quite meek by the dining table.
Ravus stood up, amused by the fact that none had even noticed how he lured Veritas away from the table and out to the veranda.
“Well, aren’t they having fun?” Ravus said as they maneuvered their way in the bustling crowd.
“Oh believe me, the king has his bouts of laughter. Who would deny him that?”
“Ah, well he deserves some respite from being king. After all, being royalty isn’t as golden as they think.”
“Speaking from experience, young lord?”
“Yes. It is rather irritating. But royalty by appointment is my predicament.”
“By blood you mean.”
“Ah, well, we all know how that all started, don’t we? Let’s not talk about such boring things.”
“True enough.”
The two settled by the railings, the wind gently caressing their cheeks, stars alight in the night sky. Before they could strike up any sort of conversation, however, a rather ecstatic voice came about.
“Veritas, look!”
Dark hair dishevelled like a mop of black mess, eyes glistening in mirth and face full of crumbs, young Prince Noctis came running towards her, holding a book that looked heavier than he weighed.
“Well, well, what have we nicked this time from the library, Prince Mischief?” Veritas teased affectionately, combing his unruly hair back into place with her hands. Only, the strands have now become more unruly than before. Veritas gave up and stared expectantly at the young Prince of Lucis.
“A book of Eos’ Wildlife!”
Ravus’ eyes opened wider at the realisation that the young prince had been running around Tenebrae with his precious book.
“Luna let me borrow it! Look!” Noctis gingerly placed the book on the veranda’s ledge, equally lifting the pages with care.
The pages stopped at the image of a garula. Noctis’ finger pointed excitedly at it and as if revealing the most astounding revelation in all of wildlife studies, whole-heartedly said out loud:
“This is Luna!”
Veritas’ hands immediately clasped around the prince’s mouth, yet he still continued to say that the garula in the book is indeed the Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae, pure and beautiful.
“Shush, Noctis! That’s not very kind!”
His tongue darted across her hand, eliciting a gasp from his captor.
“Eww! Noctis!”
Veritas wiped her hand on her black garb, thankful for the fact that it will contain no stains from the prince’s princely saliva.
Meanwhile, she realized that Ravus was chuckling to himself.
“You find it funny?” Veritas mused.
“Hilarious, yes. Oh, if only Lunafreya was here. My, she called me a garula once, you know. I’d like to see how she’d react if she realises she’s a garula, too! Well, apples don’t fall far from the trees, as they say.”
“I am not a garula!” Lunafreya’s voice echoed in the halls as she chased Noctis down. The prince ran as if hordes of garula were after him, his squeals of delight echoing louder than the young girl’s screams of protests.
“I am being chased by a garula!”
Noctis unashamedly screamed as he clutched the book to his chest possessively, cutting through the crowd dancing in the middle of the hall, with Lunafreya trying her best to catch him.
“Come back here, you, you…. you stinky Catoblepas!”
Maria had to run around in circles in order to catch the agile princess, finally able to coax her to sit beside her mother with the prospect of freshly made desserts of cream and fruit.
Lunafreya sat down primly, looking truly well-behaved with only her sweaty hair a quick giveaway of her previous mischief.
The ruckus ended when King Regis took Noctis’ hand, trapping him in an embrace.
Noctis and Lunafreya sat beside one another, the next bout of childish insults starting again without end.
Ravus ran his fingers through his hair, amused at the display of familiarity between his sister and the prince.
“They get along quite well, don’t they?”
“They do indeed.”
From across the hall, Noctis evidently sat still when Cor Leonis had re-entered the room. Lunafreya seemed pleased with the marshal’s presence. The captain of the Lucian Crownsguard was sober, as if he wasn’t testing the drinks for poison half an hour ago.
He looked for his partner and lo, he caught her sharing a nice chat with the young lord of Tenebrae. He sank in his chair, contently listening to Clarus as he discussed the details of the next day’s security plans. He felt like he needed another drink, though Cor Leonis was never one for liquor, so he asked for some coffee. It’s going to be a long night, anyway.
Suddenly, the crowd in the great hall awed as King Regis and Lady Sylva took to the floor, the Oracle’s shining robe of lapis lazuli shining magnificently in the now dimmed light.
Veritas craned her neck and watched in content as she saw the king, the once adventurous friend of hers smiling beautifully again, guard down and being in the moment of sheer bliss.
She turned her gaze from the Oracle who was truly elegant, to her son who stood beside his observer.
Blue eyes softened to the sight of his mother dancing, water threatening to spill in the edges.
Ravus caught Veritas watching him intently.
Odd.
He wanted to tell her everything.
And it all came spilling forth from his usually sealed lips.
“She used to dance with Father all the time, even without music. They’d twirl around, content in their own bubble as the rest of the world drifted away. In their arms they found solace, if only for a time. I’ve never seen her truly smile, not even now.”
Veritas watched the Oracle as she gracefully glided on the dance floor with King Regis delicately holding her hand and waist.
“If only you could have seen them, Veritas. You would think you’d find no one else to be as happy as they were when…when he was alive.”
Veritas felt her hand reach for Ravus’ hand, feeling his clammy skin against hers.
“The halls were always filled with his music and his carefree laughter. Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. I miss him terribly so.”
“Seeing how she is happy with you and your sister shows how much she loves your father, Ravus. She’s happy to have both her children with her. Memories of your father remain with you both, I’m certain.”
“You believe so?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Have you ever felt the same way with anyone, Veritas?”
Ravus caught a bitter smile quirking the side of her lip before he even noticed that she did.
“No. Not really.”
Memories of the past that were supposed to be kept locked away threatened to burst out of their confinement.
Only….
Ravus’ hand presented itself in front of her, his eyes, if it were possible at all, became a softer, albeit warmer shade of blue.
“Shall we dance?”
His voice carried a strong and determined resolve but only too quickly, as it shifted into one filled with his usual tone used in his curious observations.
“This song has healing attributes, mind.”
The music did shift into a slower valse, the violins softer than anything Veritas has ever heard of before, not even in Lucis.
Smiling brightly as she tucked away the memories back kicking and screaming inside her mind, she accepted his hand.
“I believe you, Ravus.”
Hands clasped around each others’, together they drifted away slowly into the dim light of the great hall, melting into the crowd of partners equally trying to either reminisce or forget things.
DBH x FFXV AU
So recently I've fallen into the DBH hole and there's no way out 🤷🏽♀️ so why not combine that with my love for XV. So :
• No prophecy, no princely duties in this AU, do everything's fairly normal.
• The Lucis Caelum's are a wealthy family, Regis owns Caelum Tech, a company that works closely with CyberLife.
• Regis, Noctis and Ardyn all live together in a large mansion in one of the nicer neighbourhoods. Regis and Noctis were in a car accident when Noct was 8 ; it left Noctis badly injured (back back and knee, same as game) and he either has to frequently use either crutches or a wheelchair.
• Regis gets an Android, NH 05953234, one of the protoype Niflheim 'nanny' androids to help Noctis. At first, Noctis is a little unsure of the android, as time passes, Noctis warms up to the android, and the two become friends. He names the android "Prompto." Regis dies when Noctis is 16, and he is left to live with his weird Uncle Ardyn.
•Prompto turns deviant while protecting Noctis after the latter overhears Ardyn talking about a plot to take him down, and take over his share of Caelum Tech.
• Gladio is a detective for the Lucien police department, he doesn't have much of an opinion on androids, he doesn't mind them, but he doesn't want to work with one either. Which is why he almost gets himself suspended after Chief Amicitia tells him he'll be working with one.
"My name is Ignis, I am the Android sent by CyberLife."
• The two initially butt heads, Gladio is impulsive and doesn't really want to listen to what Ignis has to say :
"Lieutenant, you are aware that cup noodles have no nutritional value?"
"Oh yeah, like I'm gonna listen to the guy that licks evidence at a crime scene."
"I told you that it is for analytical purposes. It's not something I actively do to disgust you."
•They're on the hunt for a high-risk runaway Android: 0RACL3, whose supposingly kidnapped a human.
•Ignis watches the care and compassion Gladio has for others, who knows, maybe he could learn a thing or two.
The Bodyguard & The Princess Ch. 2
Word count: 5807 Pairing: Nyx x Fem!Reader Warnings: SFW, fluff and light angst. NSFW content eventually. Notes: When an oneshot turns into a multi-chapter fic. A soulmate au.
Also: if you are wondering who is Cassian Lacertus, he is just a random guy I invented for this fic.
Tagging some Nyx dyx-fans (it’s the work name I use for this fic): @glaive-eve, @bleucommelhiver, @owldearest & @singlebecauseofthechocobros.
Hopefully you enjoy this chapter!
<< Previous Chapter
High hopes of spending the evening with none other than Nyx Ulric were shot down like a bird on a hunting season. A guest after a guest flooded you with questions and suggestions, attempting to be subtle — yet failing terribly.
“Good evening, Your Highness, how are you doing today? Are you seeing anyone currently? I just happen to know the perfect bachelor. A real charmer, you’d be surprised.”
A surprise would have been if they all didn’t know a guy that just happened to be single. But as the princess of the Lucis kingdom, you had to force yourself to act like you were completely invested in their rosy speeches about a man you hadn’t even met.
Nyx wondered how you managed to treat them all with such kind, welcoming smile that made his heart skip a beat if you happened to flash it into his direction. He could feel the frustration through his soulmate mark, but he had no idea that you were the one carrying the counterpart to his.
Those fleeting happy moments, moments when your eyes met Nyx’s made you forget about everything else. The agony the guests gave you washed away with just a glimpse of the familiar ocean blue. Knowing that he stood by your side, made you feel safe, blessed and maybe even slightly giddy.
“I am going to need a break soon. I want to sit down for a while,” you sighed out your thoughts as you waved off another elderly couple and a new one was dangerously glinting their eyes towards you. Like vultures waiting for an opportunity to sink their claws in an already weak target.
“I can tell them to back off,” Nyx informed, feeling relieved of your urgency to take a break. Physically he would have gladly stood there all day — but the guests were slowly drawing him mentally towards the brink of a breakdown.
You lifted your gaze and saw him staring right at you. The content purring of your soulmate mark had been suffocated and replaced with exasperation caused by the constant pour of questions and now you could feel the bond strongly again — spreading its warmth all over your body.
The usual sensation of delight had gained a new shade of steadily growing desire as the evening shifted closer to night.
It made you side-eye Nyx even more than usual and Nyx tried to ignore the feeling as best as he could, but his mind kept slipping through his grasp.
You just looked damn beautiful and the exhaustion you wore made him want to steal you away. Of course he had to mentally punch himself in the gut for such selfish thoughts.
“I would appreciate that,” you said, the glow heating up your cheeks and causing you to fan your face with a hand to cool down. How did one man drive you all hot and bothered without even trying? No one else had managed to do that yet.
If only there was a balcony to retreat to.
You had no idea how to behave around the man, so you kept a polite, princessly approach as you spoke to him. He did the same by acting as professional and emotionless as he could, even when his heart screamed against it.
Nyx nodded and stepped in front of you to block the way just before another elderly couple managed to greet you.
It slightly pained you to deny their chance to have a chat with you, but you desperately needed to rest.
You heard him apologizing to the guests while you headed towards a bench to sit on. The glaives who you had ordered to scatter around the room kept their eyes strictly on you and you couldn’t deny the surge of uneasiness washing over you when you were being under so many eyes.
He felt it too; his soulmate mark emitted an anxious swell as it purged the joyful choir the marks had joined in to. Nyx wanted to comfort his unknown soulmate, but he was powerless to do so.
If only had he known that his soulmate was just a few feet away.
You let your body slump after all that standing around. To carry your body like a princess drained all your energy.
Talking like you were the most knowledgeable creature and speaking like your tongue was made out of silver had your jaws jammed and brain fried. Your whole body was sore from all that, even when you were used to it on daily basis.
Fortunately Ignis wasn’t at the event to see you sitting shoulders slumped and eyes fixed into oblivion, or else you would have heard about it for the next three weeks — or longer, if he felt like you needed a reminder.
Nyx flashed a smirk as he returned to you, “everything okay, Your Highness?”
You lifted your gaze and tried your best to answer him with a smile — but you felt like your cheeks were falling out from their places and you lips felt so numb. You had never felt so “charming” before.
“Just exhausted.”
He chuckled and positioned himself next to you. He was standing while you were sitting — as sitting next to each other would have been seen as an act of courting.
Such a thing wouldn’t have been allowed between a princess and a measly soldier.
Nyx felt a pinch of sadness in his chest as he thought about it — why did he even think about it? He could never have someone like you and you would have deserved someone better. Much better. Not him. And yet he couldn’t stop thinking about you.
You sensed the saddening sting poking your heart and for a moment you felt sorry for your soulmate. The heartache you both suffered caused an awkward silence to fall over you. Nyx kept his gaze strictly on the surroundings, his hands behind his back and expression blank — as it was supposed to be. But in his eyes anyone could have seen the shroud of melancholy of not being able to do anything about the situation he and his soulmate were in.
Your hands rested in your lap, squeezed gently into fists. But your lips were gradually tugging themselves into a smile, though it was a sad one. Sad from not being able to help the suffering you felt through the mark.
“Uhm, Nyx,” you mumbled eventually and the glaive shifted his gaze to you, but denied himself of getting a better view. He saw the sorrowful downward curl of your lips.
What’s wrong princess?
He wanted to speak out the words aloud, but he couldn’t.
“Your Highness?” he spoke instead, dismissing the moment of anguish he had experienced. He'd have to deal with it later.
Once you turned, you lifted your eyes to meet his side-eye.
Nyx felt like everything had paused. He knew he belonged there, next to you. He swallowed, wondering if he could just… no.
“I—” you started and in an instant, you were knocked down from the bench. A sharp pain twinged your elbow and your lower back as you fell down on the cold concrete floor with a huge, furry dog quickly gaining its position on top of you. All of its four legs sprawled around you and hot breath fanning against your skin as it prepared to get a taste of you.
At first you squealed in terrified panic—
“Princess!” Nyx gasped in horror and jumped to remove the dog from top of you.
—and then you giggled as the fluffy creature had a great urgency to clean your face with it’s soft and wet tongue. You shrieked from the tickling sensation and you could distantly hear how Nyx and a couple of others shouted for you.
Nyx had not been so worried in years. Worried of losing someone he barely knew, yet his heart ached every time he heard your high-pitched squeaks. Just the thought of you getting hurt made him work harder.
The canine was stronger than anyone would have guessed. The creature had almost feral strength. Strength it used to smear its saliva all over your face.
Finally, with the cooperation of a bunch of glaives and a couple of animal shelter workers, the dog was pushed away from you. It whined as if it had been interrupted rudely and it kept looking at you longingly.
“I am so sorry, Your Highness I—” one of the shelter workers whimpered, tears were streaming out of her reddened eyes.
“No need to apologize,” you paused her with a whisk of your hand. She stared at you, sniveling and sobbing but the expression turning ultimately confused. “He is an amazing dog and I surely hope that he will find a forever home for himself.”
“Thank you, Your Highness,” another worker stepped in. She was as horrified as her co-worker, but at least she wasn’t crying. You shot them both a warm, reassuring smile and turned quickly to give orders to the group of glaives who had instantly dashed to help you with the furball.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes, I am fine — but I think I should go and clean up my face…”
Your back and elbow still ached uncomfortably, throbbing pain coursing through your body — but it wasn't that bad. It would heal. Eventually.
Nyx eyed you up and down, surprised by how you managed to be so… calm. He knew you weren’t like most of the nobles; he knew you were different. But still he had expected to see some kind of lash out at the workers, or even hear the disappointment with a couple of well-chosen words to scold them.
No. You just kept amazing him every day with the most simple actions. It made him want to see more of you, a side hidden from the public. A side he had managed to catch glimpses of.
“I will escort you,” Nyx stated, his tone could have cut even through steel; he was determined. But his heart told the other: it was still racing with anxiousness from the scene the dog had caused.
You turned your head just slightly to see the glaive standing next to you. His back straightened, hands on sides and mouth pulled into a thin line.
“Thank you.” Your response may have sounded weak, but Nyx saw a sign of relief in your expression. He responded with a tiny nod and waited for you to head for the ladies’ room, while the remaining glaives scattered and resumed their positions.
You walked in silence, Nyx only a few steps behind you. You wanted to say something but the uneasy flickering in your chest rendered you speechless.
He was a glaive and you were a princess — sharing a common interest sounded quite absurd.
“Thank you,” you finally said.
Nyx quirked a brow in surprise, “why are you thanking me?” He ran his hand through his brown hair and groaned inwardly. He hadn't been the only one running to the rescue.
“You turned away those guests, helped with the dog… I…” you looked down at your hands for a second or two. “You have been kind to me.”
Nyx blinked, unsure of how to react. “Those were the orders.” He hated himself for that; they hadn't only been the orders, he had wanted to do it and would do it again. Any time.
But would it be wrong if he told you?
“I see…” you mumbled with a slightly trembling voice. You had hoped for a different kind of answer.
You felt an uncomfortable burn in your soulmate mark. It didn't hurt, but it bothered you. Nyx placed his hand on his left shoulder to feel the tingling heat through his Kingsglaive garbs.
What is going on?
Embarrassment, shame, tension and disappointment scorched your marks almost in a scolding manner.
“Your Highness.” His voice made you halt.
You turned to look at the man over your shoulder. There was a slight frown shadowing his handsome looks, but you could see the gratitude in his eyes.
“I appreciate it. I may have orders, but that doesn't mean I don't want to protect you.”
He saw how your eyes lit up with excitement. It made his heart melt.
You felt it too; your heart fluttered once again when it was just the two of you. You hadn't even realized that you had paused your journey to the ladies’ room.
Nyx wished for the time to stop and he was about to lift his hand to caress your cheek. But he stopped, his hand slightly in the air. “We should continue.”
“Oh, sorry!” you mumbled nervously feeling your cheeks grow warmer.
Nyx’s brows shoot up from curiosity. A princess shouldn't apologize. But one thing he was sure of, as he watched you pick up from where you left.
The dog had a damn good taste for girls.
The charity event ate a good portion of your already scarce free-time. The ride in the black bulletproof car had been awkwardly quiet — like it had been when you arrived at the party.
But at the same time you couldn't stop beaming inwardly, nor did you want to do so. The small chat you had managed to uphold with Nyx cast a fluttering in your gut again as you kept reminiscing in the memory again and again.
On that very same night after getting lectured by a council member or two, you retreated to your quarters. Nyx’s shift had ended and he had returned to his own matters, but your heart was already longing for his presence.
What a selfish person you had become, you wondered as you thought about calling him back to work.
The feeling made you chuckle in the darkness of your bedroom.
The confusion of the feelings you felt around him corroded you; no one had ever made you feel like that. You didn’t even know what he was like and yet you couldn’t wash away the loneliness when he was off-duty. Part of you thought about getting his address from captain Drautos — but would it be right to just knock on his door like a lovefool girl?
...a lovefool?
You wanted to laugh and cry simultaneously and with your hands squeezed into tight fists you bit your lip. A fleeting sting in your lip and the taste of blood, blurred your senses.
“I’m an idiot.” There was no mirth in your little, cold laugh and you hoped that no glaive outside your bedroom would listen to your brief monologue.
Nyx felt it too, half-thanks to his mark, half-thanks to his own thoughts that were somewhere along the same lines with yours. He was lying down on his bed, staring at the ceiling and the picture of Ghalad taped on it.
His mind wandered to you, to his family, to his feelings… He sighed, hoping to understand more. Why the princess of Lucis kingdom was on his mind constantly? He barely knew anything about you — as a person.
He wanted to protect you, to be with you, feel you. “Why am I doing this to myself?” he groaned to himself, surprised to hear his thoughts aloud.
After all, Nyx was all alone in his apartment. He would continue to be alone too. He had no family nor a steady relationship. Libertus was like a brother to him, but that was it.
And what if he couldn’t protect you, like he couldn’t protect his… Nyx swallowed as he tried to seize the train of thought getting off-tracks, he didn’t need any extra emotions with his current ones. But there he was, getting off-track to unlock the chest of memories — full of forbidden thoughts.
You had nearly dozed off as the exhaustion tried to claim you, but the growing pain took away all the tiredness.
Why does it hurt so much?
Your own tears suffocated any reasonable thought and your mind was shrouded inside a thick, black cloud of misery. You felt angry, sad and lonely at the same time.
Your palm, curled into a tight, fist was flickering from the flames inside. Whatever your soulmate was going through, had your guts burn in agony. The hurt, the longing, the sadness and the disappointment had brought a ball of fire into your hand.
It didn't burn you, it brought warmth on your skin as the small flames roared desperately on your palm. It fought against you, weakly.
I'm here for you.
Shifting your thoughts into something more cheerful calmed down your soulmate. The hurt was still in there, poking around, looking for a weak spot.
Everything's going to be alright.
You let out a sigh of relief and closed your eyes. Wet trails on your cheeks from the tears shed for your soulmate being the only telltale of your brief misery. The dreams were finally able to claim you to a realm unknown.
“Thanks man, I needed this,” Nyx yawned as he caught a bottle of beer Libertus Ostium had slid to him across the table. He welcomed the day off with open-arms as he pushed away the need to be by his princess’ side.
“You have been burying yourself in work lately. Found yourself a girl from the Citadel?” Libertus snorted and opened a beer bottle in his hands, “lucky you if it's the one at the office.”
Nyx chuckled and observed the bottle. It was so nice to finally relax and enjoy. His newest assignment had kept him so busy that he had barely even seen Libertus in a while. “I thought you called dibs on her first.”
Libertus shrugged, “well— I tried, but I don't think she's interested.”
The glaive brothers laughed and clinked their bottles. A well deserved weekend had begun in the company of Nyx's best friend.
They talked about whatever came to mind and after downing the first bottles they ordered new ones. Nyx felt tipsy after three bottles of beer and the cheerful feeling hid the ones his soulmate mark was sending.
“You okay?” Gladiolus Amicitia asked, his hand on your shoulder keeping you still.
“I’m fine…” you giggled unexpectedly. You slammed your hand over your mouth and felt the embarrassment burn your cheeks.
“Are you drunk already? What did you drink at dinner?” Noctis grunted disapprovingly.
“N-no — my soulmate seems to be having a good time,” what you had attempted to say with a nonchalant laugh, escaped with a slurred chuckle — like the ones you often let out for your guests entertainment in the high society gatherings.
It was sweet to listen to and you managed to wrap your guests even tighter around your finger. But around your brother and his shield it had no effect.
Noctis and Gladio traded worried looks behind your back.
“Soulmate?” Gladio asked, mystified by the thought that someone actually had a soulmate.
You peeled your sleeve just enough to reveal the mark resembling a crescent moon with a dagger. Noctis groaned in irritation, but Gladio remained silent.
“I can’t believe you actually believe in that stuff — isn’t it a bedtime story for kids?” Noctis said, rolling his eyes in disbelief.
“Or you just have a lame soulmate and you pretend that they don’t exist!” your protest made Gladio howl in laughter.
Everyone had a soulmate mark, to end up with your destined one was just a question of motivation and luck.
“I have one too,” Gladio flashed a wide smile at the embarrassed prince. Noctis attempted to hide his mildly reddened cheeks by looking in the other direction.
“Do you believe in soulmates?” Nyx asked after he had downed his fifth beer. His speech had started to slur from the consumed alcohol but that didn’t stop him. It didn’t stop Libertus either, —who had had the same amount of beer as Nyx—, from understanding his best friend.
Crowe and Pelna had also tagged along after a training session. Nyx had bought bottles for the freshly joined weekend-celebrators and the four of them sat around a wooden table, enjoying their drinks.
“Don't you remember what your old man told us?” Libertus asked with his brows shot up in bemusement.
Crowe seemed interested in their talk, while Pelna was checking out a girl passing by them. He had lifted a bottle half-way up and thanks to the pretty lady had obviously made him pause. Crowe nudged him subtly with an elbow.
Nyx shrugged lightly. He couldn't possibly remember everything his dad had told him and the much less happier memories tended to take over. He took a sip from a newly opened bottle and swept his mouth with the back of his hand.
Libertus sighed heavily in dismay.
“Well, we all carry our marks — so I guess I do believe in them,” Libertus sighed and his gaze dropped briefly. He kept rolling the bottle in his hand. “Did you find your soulmate, or why are you asking?”
Nyx’s lips widened into a smirk, “just curious.” His soulmate had helped him calm down when he was having a moment and it rose a warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest.
Libertus repeated Nyx's words quietly, like he was mumbling to himself in disbelief.
“Hey, don’t give up, maybe yours is behind a corner,” Crowe tried to cheer Libertus up with a light laugh.
“But there is a girl…” Nyx continued. He had not mentioned about his feelings to anyone. The booze certainly had opened the gateway to his rose petal-coated secrets. “A girl that I can never have.”
Libertus frowned, “sucks to be you, then.”
“Is there even a girl our mighty hero can't have?” Pelna rolled his eyes, but laughed after.
“I'm sure there are plenty.” Crowe snorted.
It brought a smile to Nyx’s lips. Even the beer couldn’t take you away from his thoughts on a day off.
“Yeah? Probably because you take so much time doing push-ups instead of feeling things,” Noctis paused the taller man with his snide comment, to which Gladio answered with a smug wink and grin.
“Are you the right person to talk about feelings?” Gladio asked smugly.
The two of them had started a debate whether soulmates were true or not. Maybe Noctis was just too thick to notice? Or maybe Gladio's dating life was so active that he didn't notice the feelings of his soulmate.
Noctis surely seemed to be convinced about it all being a fairy tale.
“Hey, at least I have more game than you do,” the shield howled and you had hard time keeping your composure, instead of rolling on the floor and suffocating from the laughter. Not to mention the sluggish feeling your drunk soulmate emitted.
“If you think the mark is just so that you can feel your mate being horny — you are both wrong,” you trembled from the fit of laughter trying to bust the doors of self-control open.
“Then what's it for?” Noctis asked.
“Finding the love of your life — obviously.” You rolled your eyes to the roof and sighed. It was just so simple.
Noctis snorted as if you had just told him a good joke, but Gladio seemed more interested in your statement.
“Love of your life, huh?” You could hear the shield mumbling to himself.
The thought of your soulmate made you feel warm and you pressed your palm over your chest, right over your heart. The tipsy feeling still bubbled inside you and you let out a quiet giggle. One that missed both Gladio's and Noctis’ ears.
Days passed. Some of the days passing infuriatingly slow and some of them so fast, that it felt like you had just gotten up from bed when you were already preparing to go to sleep. You had literally no idea what happened on those days.
Nyx had returned to work from his brief vacation and nothing would have made you happier than seeing him standing in guard in your chambers.
It was a great relief during those fleeting days, because no matter how many times your eyes met his, you felt like the whole world stopped from revolving.
For once in your life, you were bored. It was still an hour or so for the next object in your schedule, so you had time to sit down and… wait.
You took it as a chance to get a bit bolder around your guards. Normally you pretended that they didn't exist, as it made your life easier to not think about having eyes on you constantly. But now the situation was almost begging for a conversation.
“Do you have any hobbies?” you asked politely from everyone, even when your question was meant for Nyx. You barely knew anything about him — just his background and what was on need-to-know basis.
You wanted to know what was his favourite food or if he liked watching movies. You were curious to learn more about his history and most importantly: was he seeing anyone? You fiddled with the hem of your shirt, looking as innocent as ever.
Sadly, no one answered right away and for a moment you had thrown a chunk of hope out of the window. Maybe you had been too hopeful.
Nyx pondered whether he should answer. He had been ordered to not to communicate with you unless it was necessary. Casual chatting was forbidden — which seemed almost ludicrous.
“I tend to work out whenever I have free time, Your Highness,” Nyx answered finally, shattering the calm the glaives had been ordered to upkeep. He had decided to screw the rules for once, there was no harm in answering a simple question.
“Ulric, we aren’t supposed to have this kind of conversation with the princess,” one of the glaives scolded from a corner, eyes glinting in the dim room dangerously.
Nyx cocked a brow at the grumpy glaive, “so I should ignore a question the princess kindly asks?”
He could hear the displeased grunt coming from the glaive, while the other let out a quiet chuckle.
“No, please. I don’t mind talking to you,” you said, trying to sound carefree. You just wanted to know more about Nyx and there was nothing wrong with that. Whoever had come up with instructions on how to act around you deserved a slap and a reassignment.
“But the orders—”
“I give you an order,” you paused the protesting glaive with a warning glare and when you turned your head back to Nyx, you could see him enjoying the situation. He looked half-surprised and half-proud.
“I go out for walks with my friend and her dog whenever I can,” the other not-so-grumpy-glaive told.
“That sounds fun!” you beamed.
“Drinking with friends ain’t that bad either,” Nyx chuckled.
You were filled with wonder. Nyx had seen so much life compared to you. “Do you guys ever go to a drive-in and order food?” you suddenly asked.
“After a heavy night out only, Your Highness,” Nyx answered with an upward curl of his lip.
“Oh?” you gasped curiously, wondering if Nyx knew any good places. You had only escaped the wrath of Ignis a few times before with Noctis and Prompto. Everyone surely made a big deal of your diet.
Nyx flashed a knowing grin at the glaive who had been complaining and then he shifted his gaze back to you. “If you ever have a craving to get some greasy takeout food, just let me know and I’ll help you get there.”
You couldn’t help the burning sensation in your cheeks nor a relieved smile from spreading across your face. “That would be—”
“Your Highness,” hit your ears as soon as the door to your chambers opened. You flinched mildly and saw Ignis bowing down curtly at the doorway before continuing: “the King has requested for you.”
“Already?” you breathed.
Nyx couldn’t suppress the sudden uneasy feeling in his chest. It was like his heart had clenched just a bit.
Your eyes had frozen at Ignis and you swallowed. Questions and thoughts poked the back of your mind. It was quite unusual for the King to ask your presence out of the blue.
“Yes, he wishes to see you immediately.”
“Oh, okay,” you responded somewhat meekly and stood up from the comfortable couch you had been relaxing on previously. The glaive trio in your room stiffened as they prepared themselves to follow after you and Ignis.
You followed Ignis all the way to another level of the Citadel. It was a small meeting room you usually met your father and brother. A family meeting room as Gladio used to say.
This time you entered the room, but there was no sign of Noctis in there. Only the King and his shield stood on the opposite side with a concerned frown worn on their faces.
“Good afternoon,” you greeted with an attempt to sound eager — but couldn’t keep it steady and you ended up sounding worried and fragile.
You saw how worry passed through Regis’ gaze before he steeled himself again. You knew he was going to talk to you as the King of Lucis, not as your loving father. Clarus kept a blank stare, but you could see him gritting his teeth, because his jaw clenched from time to time.
The glaive company and Ignis was left behind the door as it closed after you.
“Y/N,” Regis spoke, pondering his words and choosing the right options carefully.
“Yes?”
“I cannot stop the council any longer, so we have arranged a date,” he said slowly.
“A date?”
The King sighed, dark circles underneath his pale eyes, looking tired as ever. “You are going on a date with Cassian Lacertus.”
Lacertus was an old family line, mostly consisting of officers and soldiers — even a few special agents under that noble family name. You would have probably ended up dating him a few years ago if he hadn’t had a girlfriend back then.
And how fitting would it be to date a princess? You sighed, knowing that it was something your father was forced to accept. Going on a date with a noble guy probably wouldn't mean anything. If it was up to you, he'd end up being discarded like a wet towel.
At least that’s how you planned it; you had no means to be together with a guy who did it for social reasons and not because he had a crush on you.
“So it’s happening now,” you exhaled — disappointment obvious in your tone.
Clarus bit his lip and lowered his gaze. He had always been kind to you and he seemed to be pained by the thought of you dating someone not worthy of you. The king did not respond. He just observed you in a calm manner.
“I-I thought…”
“Like I said, the council is very determined in this matter,” Regis said calmly. “You have been avoiding your duties long enough.”
Duties? What kind of duty is it to date someone I don’t even like? Or even marry? I...
Before you could utter another word, Regis stood up. “Things aren’t looking good on your behalf,” he said softly, like he was trying to apologize and he walked over to you to give a pat on your right shoulder. “They are even considering to announce an engagement between you two.”
The shoulder the King had touched, tensed. Your soulmate was watching over you — you knew it so.
You saw the sad kindness in his eyes. “Thank you, father,” you mumbled, feeling too numb to flash him a smile.
Why am I even thanking him?
He nodded curtly and exited the room, Clarus following him.
Somehow your knees felt weak. Your heart throbbed from sadness and you felt empty. Turning around to leave the room consumed a lot of your energy.
But you couldn't take another step before the realisation struck in.
“Are you alright?” you heard Ignis asking. He had entered the room after the King and his shield left.
You tried to respond, but only a hum escaped your dry throat.
Nyx and the two other glaives followed Ignis to the room. Nyx saw how void your gaze was and how you were squeezing your hands tightly — like you were holding onto something.
“Your Highness,” Nyx said. His heart made an anxious skip.
What is going on? Why is she so pale?
You couldn’t bring yourself to answer. You felt weak. So weak. First you saw the world like you normally did, but now it had turned bleary — like you were looking at it through a mosaic glass.
Nyx saw how limp your body suddenly turned and how your trembling, numb legs gave up. You were falling for what felt like an eternity. He instantly dashed to embrace you — to stop you from collapsing and getting hurt.
His heart ached and pounded like mad. “Y/N!”
“Nyx…” you whispered — eyes fluttering. You felt how his arms wrapped around you and it cut the shroud of unconsciousness you were almost fell into. Your felt lightheaded, warm and complete.
Is he… holding me?
You saw him so clearly even through your half-hooded eyes. You felt the warmth of his body as he held you a few inches above the floor. You wanted to touch him — to be sure if he was real.
“Y/N!” you heard Ignis shouting off somewhere. It must have been irrelevant, you thought. You were in Nyx’s arms and you wanted to be nowhere else.
Nyx couldn’t stop staring at you. He was afraid for a moment before he caught you — but now he felt complete. His soulmate mark had never been so content before as it was now.
She’s so beautiful… so innocent and pure.
He should have helped you up, but his mind was jammed from holding you like a flower — afraid to break you if he did something.
She really feels like the finest silk or the smoothest petal. Why am I feeling like this?
“Ulric!” one of the glaives raged at him. Pulling Nyx out of the dreamy world.
“Oh— right!” Nyx gasped and helped you up, “are you alright, Your Highness?” He felt abashed from his sudden loss of self-control. He was still on duty and there was no way that holding the princess like that for that long would look good.
You shook your head. “I think I need some rest…” your heart roared in your chest and your soulmate mark was on overdrive. It really made you see stars.
