Retirement Party

It’s strange to be back in London. He still comes here once a week— A staunch refusal to switch to a new therapist, even if it would save him the short flight from Aberdeen Airport every Friday, his whole day eaten away by travel and the hour appointment with Dr. Clara. He doesn’t like her. She thinks he’s stubborn and resistant. She’s probably right. For the first time, he thinks it might be a good idea to switch. Or stop coming in personally, conduct therapy online. Being away from Dalisay bothers him. He doesn’t like that she’s alone in the house. If something happened, he’d be too far away to do anything about it. If she left, he wouldn't be able to stop her, but... She’d seen him off, kissed him at the door, said she’d make dinner for when he got back. She wasn’t going anywhere. She didn’t want to. He had to trust her, even if it was a difficult thing to do. It would probably kill him if he came home to an empty house.

Sparrow

Well. Makarov was a secondary objective at this point. If the opportunity to kill him presented itself he’d shoot, but there was no sense hunting the man down and losing his chance to get off the bloody boat with him and Morgan in one piece. If it were just Ghost, he might’ve chanced it. Maybe blown up the whole bloody ship. He didn’t really care if he lived or died— In many ways he’d been dead for years now, if not since they buried him, since he buried himself along with his family in that gray little cemetery in Manchester— But he did care if she lived. He could lie to himself and say it was out of loyalty to Price, getting his girl back home for him, but it wasn’t that. There was something in that soft, stubborn little bird that he recognized, something that resonated with the part of him that was still Simon Riley, deep down inside where the light couldn’t get in. He could feel the first stirrings of life in a long while, like she was spring, thawing the frozen ground and coaxing something green and delicate out of the mud. Maybe it was just him being selfish (he’d always been selfish), but he wanted to see what could grow.

The Night Raven Circus AU

"Come one, come all, to the most daring show in all of Twisted Wonderland! Witness spectacles beyond your imagination. Death Defying Aerial dances. Beasts from Hell tamed. Creatures from the depths. Dolls given life and fires run wild. I, Dire Crowley, will be your host this evening. Welcome the Night Raven Circus!"

The Night Raven Circus is a famous show that travels all over Twisted Wonderland. With it's Whimsical and Gothic aesthetic, to it's large cast of performers and attractions, it has always stood out over the years and has earned its excellent reputation. And, befitting it's name, the circus is only open at night.

The Ring Leader, Dire Crowley, had hired the best performers he can find. From Lilia, the best swordsman around, known for his sword swallowing an knife throwing tricks and his son Silver who is also learning the act. The fire breather Malleus. Who due to his draconic heritage is able to command fire and control it, leading to a thrilling act that scares and excites the audience. Jamil the talented hypnotist that calls audience members to take part. Along with many more.

The newest addition to the cast being Isabelle, a Beast Tamer. But instead of working with your average circus animals, she tames monsters. Griffins, Hellhounds, and of course, Grim, a feline creature that can go from a kitten to a large fire maned beast.

Other recent additions to the performance lineup being Dires daughter, Darling. Where she controls her hand crafted and life like dolls to perform for the audience. And Dreary, who has a tent she tells fortunes out of. Though most of her predictions are fake, and all her real visions are only bad things to come.

However, with all the fame of the circus, comes those seeking to topple it. The rival Playfulland Circus is run by a man known as the Coachman. The inner workings of their business being shady at best. Whenever they happen to be in the same area as The Night Raven circus, little things tend to go wrong. A wardrobe malfunctions, a prop or two going missing. Giddel has even been caught sneaking around now and then and promptly scolded. However, lately things star to escalate. Equipment is being damaged, costumed shredded. Isabelle has found the cages of her beasts unlocked when she knows for a fact it was closed.

However things take a turn for the deadly when Clara, an aerial dancer, was performing when the rope holding up the hoop she was hanging from snapped and she fell. She walked away with only a few injuries, but now Dire was enraged and needed to find a way to get back at the Playfulland circus for this.

With Darling taking over the slot that was for Claras routine, the rival circus is now keeping a new eye on the new talent to see what else they can sabotage or even copy.

•She’s often the gang’s alibi because of her gift for lying (she’s gotten Dallas out of jail more times than she can count)

•Her and Two-bit are platonic besties (they watch Disney and Micky Mouse together a lot)

• Has a mom who in the nicest terms is a drunken a hole who is literally insane

• She’s short because she was oftentimes malnourished as a child and would be locked in a room with no food for days on end as punishments

• From Montgomery, Alabama but moved to Tulsa when she was 10 when her baby sister (Margaret) was found de@d in the bathtub and her mother’s reputation was ruined.

• Grew up on the soc side of town and was practically a soc for many of her teenage years but always hated how socs treated greasers

•Sews all of her own clothes and will fix the gang’s clothes as well (and she’s great at it)

• “Patiently” waiting for her mother to kick the bucket so she can sell her house (it’s a soc house so it would go for a lot) so she can help her husband out with the bills more (Darrel insists that she doesn’t need to do that for him but she doesn’t listen) it probably won’t take much longer for her to pass because of the amount of drügs she’s taking

• Works as a seamstress

• Was cheer captain back in high school and was damn good at it (her team won several national titles under her leadership and she owns several championship rings)

• Originally dated Paul Holden (that’s how she met Darry) but he was a horrible boyfriend who would often beat on her and belittle her, Darrel was the one who stood up for her and treated her like she was a person and not some doll to be tossed around, that’s one of the reasons why she fell in love with Darry

• Paul hates Darrel for “taking her away from him” when Darry literally was the only one who treated her like a person

• Darrel doesn’t know why she stayed with him (but he isn’t complaining)

• Doesn’t smoke or drink (she has trauma from her mother burning her with cigarettes)

• Becomes her high school’s cheer coach by the end of the story (Cherry and Marcia idolize her)

Mirabel

Mirabel actually had four children, one of them is just not pictured. Her husband’s name is Esteban.

The oldest one is named Diego, and he is not pictured. He had the ability to bring his paintings and artwork to life, and he takes after her mother’s artistic side.

Claudia is the second oldest. She has the ability to speak and communicate with the dead, and she is only a year older than the third daughter:

Inez, the main character of the story, has the ability to jump through time. She is at odds with her older siblings, but is extremely close with the youngest:

Maya, had the ability to control the water, and make big waves. She loves Inez and her Tia Luisa.

Isabela

Isabela has twin girls, because she had one relationship with a man, and that was apparently enough for her.

Rosa is the older of the two, has the ability to charm others using her words, and she usually does so to help them heal emotionally.

Liliana has the ability to animate inanimate objects, and move them with her mind.

Luisa

Valentina (yes, named after Mirabel), has the ability to grow and shrink on command.

Ivan, her younger brother, is the first Madrigal to not have a gift since Mirabel.

Luisa’s husband is named Daniel

Camilo

Emilia is Camilo’s wife, who is a rivals to lover’s situation. They constantly got the leads in musicals and plays, but didn’t like each other very much and argued constantly, until they eventually got together.

Clara is their daughter, and she has the power to produce light.

Dolores

Mariana is Dolores and Mariano’s daughter, named after her father, and has the power of invisibility.

Their second child, Pedro, is named after their great grandfather. He has the power to grant wishes.

Carmen can control sound waves and is quite the musician and dancer. She sometimes speeds up the music so everyone else can’t keep up with her.

Her second youngest son, Carlos, has the power to fly, and her youngest son, Alejandro, has the power to produce force fields.

Notes:

I haven’t decided whether or not to give Bruno a child, or at the very least give him a significant other, but right now the answer is probably no. At this point in the AU, Antonio is not married.

I will also list these characters from oldest to youngest in another post.

Soot Power : Paralysis

If Clara’s soot is inhaled by a living doll she can paralyse the living doll's limbs, she can paralyse multiple limbs at a time but the more limbs she paralyses the harder it gets to concentrate and keep the soot power from dispersing.

Clara is a boastful and arrogant shadow who feels the need to always be the centre of attention. Clara enjoys spending time in the music room, busying herself with learning sheet music and practising multiple instruments.

Claire - Living doll

Claire is the living doll and face of Clara. She wants nothing but the best for her shadow master, even if she has to pull some strings behind the scenes. Smug and cunning, she shows no hesitation in belittling or using others' living dolls for her own status and benefit. She is the driving force behind Clara.
