High quality Wall Panels: The Perfect Choice for Modern Exteriors
When it comes to enhancing the exterior or interior of your property, the right cladding and wall panels can make all the difference. In addition, cladding panels, PVC marble sheets, and marble wall panels are gaining popularity for their appearance and longevity. No matter if it is a residential or commercial, office or retail space, these materials provide a clean, contemporary way to upgrade your design.
What Are Cladding Panels?
Cladding panels externalare applied to the outer face of a building skin to give it some aesthetic value and to shield it from the harsh climatic conditions. These panels come in a variety of materials such as wood, metal, stone, PVC and many others, and are perfect for any building.
Among all the PVC cladding options, PVC cladding panels have become highly popular due to their easy installation, affordable price, and maintenance. They provide good insulation, which helps save energy while at the same time giving a fresh clean look to the building.
PVC Marble Sheets: The Ultimate Solution for Stylish Exteriors
Marble PVC sheets involve the use of marble plus the properties of PVC (polyvinyl chloride). These sheets look and feel like real marble but they are much lighter and much more hardwearing than stone.
It is noteworthy that PVC marble sheets demonstrated moisture and UV resistance and can be used in external cladding in zones with extreme temperatures or high humidity. When employed as external and internal facing panels or as ornaments in rooms, these sheets provide a luxurious look without requiring much maintenance.
Marble Wall Panels: Luxury Meets Function
Marble wall panelsare a perfect way to achieve a classic and elegant look in home and office décor. They provide a classy touch that can turn walls into works of art. Offering many colours, patterns, and finishes, marble wall panels can be applied to a vast variety of spaces including the entryway, lobby, living room, and a bathroom.
Whereas natural marble is normally costly and could be very heavy, the latest in marble wall panels come in simple easy to fix light forms and comes at a lower cost, but with the same marvellous finish.
Advantages of Cladding Panels: PVC Marble Sheets: Marble Wall Panels

The Chedgrave
A 3 bedroom home from Parchment, Paper & Co.
There was much self-praise and back slapping at P,P & C's headquarters yesterday, after the announcement that their latest property The Chedgrave had placed 8th out of the short-listed 20 properties up for the SimCity Green Homes for Sustainability Award 2024.
"It's our best ever placing and it just goes to show that as a developer we really care about the green issues." Rufus (A young executive type from the company, over paid and over promoted at a young age on account of his quite impressive beard and penchant for burgundy brogues) informed us. When pushed on the properties green credentials, by an assistant to the deputy editor of Green Homes magazine he got awfully tongue-tied, went as red as a genetically-modified tomato and babbled on about sustainability and legacy.
The Chedgrave is yet another attempt from P,P&C to make some sort of in-road into the lucrative prefab housing market. Manufactured in a factory on the outskirts of town, it arrives on five articulated lorries (diesel I'm afraid) and is clipped together in two ticks.
Externally, the majority is clad in corrugated steel panels with wood siding to the bits that you see on the front and rear of the property.
Inside is decidedly airy and well-proportioned, and it's clear that the home dressing division of the company know what they are doing.
62K is, in my opinion, a little on the steep side... but we will have to wait and see what the punters make of it.
Call Una on the P,P&C hotline (press 4 for new homes, followed by 3 for Prefabricated designs and then wait until Una can find her iPhone and pick up.) Just don't ask her about the homes green credentials as she lost that memo and will make up any old baloney... after all her idiom is similar to the company that she works for - 'fake it till you make it.'

EUROCORE, Where Strength and Safety Merge!
Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP Sheets) have quickly climbed the popularity charts of the Construction and Architectural world. The city skylines bear larger-than-life witnesses that ACPs are here to rule the roost in the exterior cladding material world. But then the world of interior décor is no less a witness! A peek at building interiors also reveals a growing transition towards exquisite ACPs to adorn and beautify interiors at offices, malls, hotels, airports, and residences.
The reasons for ACPs racing to the top of these popularity charts are manifold. Their beauty and elegance strike a chord within hearts, and give the owners and occupants a sense of joy and pride! But of course, when it comes to building material, popularity is a multi-parameter decision, with safety, security, strength, durability, cost, aesthetics, etc. also playing important roles in determining what gets to the top of the charts – and ACPs score well on all these fronts too.
In this article, we put the spotlight on EUROCORE – Aluminium Core Composite Panel – a specialized ACP with an extra focus on strength and fire safety – both of which are of uncompromising importance in the construction world. ACPs are traditionally sandwich panels comprising two aluminium sheets bonded to a non-aluminium core. However, EUROCORE Panels are a result of innovation in the core technology, which replaces combustible LDPE core with non-combustible Pure Aluminium Core, making them safer and stronger than the traditional ACPs.
When combined, the terminal trio – Fuel, Oxygen, and Heat can result in a fire disaster. EUROCORE Panels promote fire safety by eliminating one element i.e., ‘Fuel’ from this terminal trio. This is done by using a non-combustible Aluminium core instead of the combustible core used in ordinary ACPs. This simple yet brilliant move goes a long way in making the cladding fire-retardant thus restricting the upward spread of fire. Being non-combustible, they also prevent the formation of droplets, and this curtails the downward spread of fire too. Yet another advantage of the non-combustible core is that it does not produce toxic smoke which tends to suffocate people and add to the casualties. This is how EUROCORE Panels aid in containing fires, providing more time for evacuation and saving valuable lives and property in case of an unfortunate fire.
Having understood the safety angle of EUROCORE panels, let’s briefly explore its other benefits too.
Benefits of EUROCORE Panels
Fire Retardant, Safe, Secure
The fire-retardant benefit has already been dwelt on and it is indeed one of the greatest advantages of EUROCORE Panels. They also provide safety as it protects the building structure from weather conditions as well as from external dangers.
Cost-Efficient
EUROCORE Panels are among the most cost-efficient, safe, and value-for-money options among building cladding materials available today. What’s important to note is that they are economical, without compromising on safety and security. They also regulate the amount of sunlight that comes into the building, keeping the interiors cooler and thus bringing cost-efficiency in power bills too.
Durable and Sustainable
EUROCORE Panels are robust and long-lasting and come with the in-built strength of Aluminium, which is also free from corrosion. These panels are termite-resistant, scratch-resistant, and stain-resistant which means they last longer and look good even after years.
Light-Weight
Another great advantage of EUROCORE Panels is that they are very light in weight, and hence they are perfect for reducing the load on the structure as compared to other building materials. Though they are light in weight, they are very strong and offer the best strength-to-weight ratio. These sheets are easy to lift, adaptable, and construction-friendly.
Weather-Resistant
EUROCORE Panels are suitable for all kinds of weather as they do not warp or go out of shape. They are not affected by cold, heat, or rain, making them suitable for all kinds of weather. Furthermore, as a cladding material, these panels even protect the building structure against harsh weather conditions.
Low Maintenance Costs
EUROCORE Panels are easy to clean and do not require any complex maintenance. This is another great benefit as it does not involve high, recurrent maintenance costs.
Easy Installation
Since EUROCORE Panels do not involve complex installation, they can be set up quickly, economically, and without much hassle.
Aesthetically Appealing
EUROCORE panels come in a variety of colours, textures, and designs, adding to the beauty and elegance of building exteriors as well as interiors.
Thermal and Acoustic Insulation
These panels cut out the external sounds making the interiors peaceful. They also regulate the light and heat that come into the building, keeping out the harsh sunlight and yet letting in its gentle rays. Additionally, they provide insulation from the cold winds in winter. Thus, they are an effective way to insulate the interiors.
Environment-Friendly
EUROCORE panels do not use scarce resources, as they are made from aluminium which is said to be the most abundant metal in the earth's crust. They also last for decades thus avoiding the need for frequent replacement, and this helps avoid unnecessary waste generation. They are fully recyclable which means that even at the end of their life, they do not pollute the environment.
For those looking for a good, reliable, value-for-money building material, it would be prudent to check out EUROCORE – Aluminium Core Composite Panels from Eurobond which is a trusted name in ACPs, backed by two decades of experience, innovation, and trust. EUROCORE sheets come with fire-retardant properties and offer the best strength-to-weight ratio. These sheets are formable, construction friendly, and are also completely recyclable, making them an eco-friendly option. Non-combustible and very light in weight, they are safe, have low installation costs, and reduce load-bearing on the structure.
Furthermore, Eurobond offers the twin benefits of unmatched quality, coupled with unparalleled European designs. Choose from the wide variety of designs, colours, and textures to give your buildings the unique beauty they deserve – whether it is Offices or residences; Malls, Hotels, Multiplexes, Airport Terminals, or other Private and Public spaces. Eurobond’s steadfast commitment makes them a household name across the worldwide construction and corporate spheres. Choosing Eurobond is, therefore, a safe, stress-free way to decorate and protect your building exteriors as well as interiors with international standards of strength, beauty, elegance, and safety.

Step-by-Step Guide to HPL Sheet Installation in Bangalore
The exterior and interior cladding made from High Pressure Laminate sheets is quite popular due to its durability, aesthetics, and resistance against extreme weather conditions. In Bangalore where architecture is predominantly modern and stylish, construction professionals and homeowners have started embracing HPL sheets. In this guide, we will show you how to install HPL sheets easily and perfectly.
Step 1: Choosing the Right HPL Sheets
Ahead of moving into the installation phase, it’s crucial to select appropriate HPL sheets. When choosing HPL cladding sheets in Bangalore, some of the considerations include; sheet thickness, color, texture, and UV resistance as well as moisture resistance. While choosing sheets for buildings these factors need to be considered in order to maintain overall aesthetics while ensuring they can withstand weather elements in Bangalore.
You should also consider sourcing your materials from a respectable HPL sheet distributor in Bangalore. A reliable distributor will sell excellent sheets and may provide advice on which are the most suited for your specific assignment.
Step 2: Preparing the Surface
Proper preparation of the surface is key for successful installation of high-pressure laminate sheets. The wall or surface on which HPL sheets will be mounted must be neat, dry, and devoid of any rubbish or loose particles. To ensure a smooth surface, all fissures or irregularities should be filled in and leveled off accordingly. This particular step is important in order to prevent any stains from showing through the HPL panels.
If you apply HPL sheets over an external wall, ensure that it is properly waterproofed. This is especially important in Bangalore where monsoons can bring heavy rainfall that can damage exterior surfaces. Waterproofing prevents moisture damage to the underlying structure, thus increasing the lifespan of HPL cladding.
Step 3: Installing the Framework
For the HPL sheets to stay in place, a strong structure is required. In exterior cladding projects, aluminum or galvanized steel frameworks are generally used for this purpose. The framework must be installed evenly so that it does not sag or tip over time. The framework’s spacing should match the size of HPL panels and consider thermal expansion also.
Since the overall aesthetics of the cladding will be determined by proper framing, its alignment is a key issue. Finding any deviation from it can cause uneven spaces or bulges hence compromising both the beauty and utility of HPL.

The Pile Pt2
Tea's ears shot up, listening to the rumbling roar that was connected to a shuttle's engines. Reserved usually for passing cargo craft heading to the nearby space port these were getting closer and closer, putting everyone on edge as the craft rounded the distant buildings into view.
Sleek and streamlined the small craft darted towards their yard. Two aerial mechs followed close behind it, trailing in its wake as the dark craft banked, showing off the blood red triangle with parallel lines running through it in gold.
Delta Corp.
Tea sat silently, watching the shuttle circle once before descending to the cleared pad, the aerial mechs circling until the shuttle was fully down before descending as well. One landing on the upper railway long rifle in its hands while the other landed at the gate seemingly unarmed as they both eyed Chuck and Mike, who similarly eyed the large, sleek black corp mechs. The corp mechs folded their wings back, forming a sort of cape with the lightweight metal, their limbs spindly with exposed servos and pistons but standing sturdier and more confidently than Chuck with his industrial footing in the loose gravel.
Tea couldnt help but drool a little over the fully enclosed torso cockpit, an external head unit providing all the sensor data and situational awareness the pilot needed in their armored core. Direct neural inputs allowing the pilot to move their mech like an extension of themselves. Tea peered at the mech by the gate, watching its pilot tap the mechs leg with its fingers, clearly impatient, ready to leave this scrap heap.
The shuttle's engines slowed to a low whine as they powered down. Boss dismounting her mech before approaching the rear shuttle door as it lowered to the ground. From the shuttle four slightly larger than human BOTs trundled out, their movements stiff and pre planned. Marching along their way-points as they made their way to the gate, half posting up on either side of it while the other two began a steady march through the streets beyond.
"Darlaa~!" A high voice pierced through the thin veil of dust hanging in the air.
Boss bowed to the figure as they sauntered down the ramp flanked by a thin human wielding a clipboard and a large android wielding a large machine gun.
"Oh hello mother" Boss spat, the word dripping with malice "I thought we were below your pay grade."
"Oh you are, but my little pet project is certainly not." The corp woman stated flatly, looking in disgust at the dusty gravel at the base of the ramp. "To think my little pet has been lost out in this dump for so long, ugh~! I'm going to have to wipe its memory to restore it to its nice prim and proper behaviors."
Tea peered at the woman, her hair was a bright artificial red mirrored in her daughters darker, more natural faded red. Pale white skin covered with makeup and wrapped up neatly in a tight black suit with the company logo embroidered on the breast pocket.
"Serich, go search the buildings for me. Come inside Darla, lets talk."
Boss reluctantly followed the woman back inside the shuttle, shooting a glare at the android as it moved towards the garage. The thin human followed the pair of women into the shuttle, scribbling something on his clipboard.
Tea could feel their heart pounding in their chest, their blood roaring in their ears. This woman, they were familiar, a dull memory of her face distorted by glass, clean white walls.
The vivid blood red triangle blending with a fresh splatter across its surface.
A loud clatter shook them back to now, they could hear the android sweeping the hangar below, kicking over barrels and ripping open the storage cabinets. All that stood between Tea and the Serich right now was a thin panel of cladding and the wooden platform Tea lay on.
The room grew silent below but Tea still held their breath, holding perfectly still, ears straining to hear any clue that the android still lurked below. Tea closed their eyes and tried to calm their racing heart beat. Tilting their head slowly towards the slightest noise until they heard it.
The soft whirring of the androids internal gyros, balancing and giving the unit an constant accurate positioning data. It stopped by one of the mech hoists, far left side of the hangar. Tea could hear it now, slowly running its metal hand over the chassis of the mech sat there.
Their mech.
Their life's hard work and purpose.
They let out a long slow breath and began smoothly rummaging through their projects they had brought up here, dismantling pieces and parts, bending the thin sheets of metal into shape. Dry propellant from the flare project. Sparklers from the fire wall projector. Every battery they could salvage. All loosely tied together with a bundle of wire, one improvised smoke bomb. Just in case.
The android had moved away from the mech at this point. Its heavy footsteps taking it back into the garage and out the front door. Slowly crunching its way across the gravel and up the ramp of the shuttle.
Tea waited anxiously, watching the back of the shuttle intently as the hour began dragging on. Their improvised explosive clutched tightly in their paws. The two Corp mechs seemed to also be wearing down on patience. Both eyeing the shuttle from time to time. The mech by the gate seemed to start up conversation with Chuck, seemingly more animated as they talked than Chuck, who's mech stood still and unmoving.
Finally Boss walked down the ramp of the shuttle and the BOTs turned and trekked back up the gravel drive, loading into the shuttle following an unspoken command. Boss raised their arm, shielding their face as the shuttles engines spooled up kicking up dust and debris as they lifted the heavy metal ship into the air. The mechs followed quickly after it and the yard held its breath as the trio slowly became a blotch in the sky that disappeared behind the distant sky scrapers.
"We are clear." Boss spoke into the radio, looking up at the area of the roof she knew Tea was watching from. "Stay in your patrols for now, I need to talk to the kid."
Tea slid through their crawlspace, wiggling down through the false panel and dropping to the garage floor, landing gracefully on their paws amidst a mess of tools and torn papers seeping up spilled oils.
"Wow he really fucked the place up." Boss stated, leaning against the door frame to the hangar.
"I'll have it cleaned up by tonight." Tea squeaked
"Don't worry Rat. You have bigger prey to hunt." Boss raised an eyebrow at the bomb still clutched in Tea's paws.
"Oh, uh, as a precaution." They sheepishly began dismantling it.
Boss walked over and placed a hand on Tea's shoulder. "Kid, they knew where you were the whole time. All this," She paused, gesturing at the destruction. "They want you to react. They want a reason they can justify using more force."
Tea remained silent, looking down at the dismantled device in their paws.
"Carol, that woman, is a petty princess who gets to flaunt her husbands power and money. I left that life as soon as I could. I thought I would leave it behind me for good but I guess not." Boss sighed. "This job is a kind of forced retirement for me. During my merc days I ran a lot of sorties against Delta. I had a name, a reputation within their ranks. They always knew who I was as soon as I showed up. Me and my team, we stood toe to toe with the corps for years"
"What made you stop?" Tea asked, "why bend your knee to them?"
"They started lashing out blindly. They started to simply raze the ground on which I walked. They lashed out blindly and without mercy trying to get me. In order to get them to stop I struck up a deal. I would move back to the settled systems and work somewhere they could keep an eye on me while I could still do my own thing." Boss sat down and gestured out towards the yard. "that's why I'm here, guarding piles of trash from lil rats like you."
Tea smirked, "You weren't very good at it."
"Hey don't you start, I'm retired now I ain't giving it my all." Boss threw a wadded up ball of paper at Tea who ducked it with a giggle. "Anyways. The point here is Carol knows her 'pet project' is here and she is monitoring you. She wants you back now and is willing to devote major resources to do so."
Tea blinked, turning the gears in their head, "So why didn't she take me now?"
Boss slowly set the handgun Chuck had tried to give to Tea earlier on the desk in front of her and slid it towards them. "I struck up another deal. I turn you in in 24 hours or you leave and the Corp has to deal with you themselves."
Tea clenched their paws shut into tight fists, crushing the dismantled parts, their fur bristling as they glared at Boss. "You wouldn't."
"Rat, There are other people I have to take care of, they are not fighters, they wouldn't stand up against the Corps bringing scorched earth. I hate that I have to but I would to protect the others."
"So what am I supposed to do? Run from them? Fight them? I don't stand a chance anymore than they do!"
"You have one advantage that they don't. They don't want you dead. You are valuable to them."
Tea tightened their fists ignoring the sting of the jagged metal digging into their flesh. "I'm not going back."
"Then fight little one, claw and bite and hurt them as much as they hurt you."

Floods can wreak havoc on homes, especially when it comes to interiors. Furniture, cabinets, and fixtures are often the first casualties, leading to significant damage and costly repairs. However, with thoughtful planning and the right materials, you can design interiors that are resilient to water damage. Here are expert recommendations to protect and rescue your home interiors in flood-prone areas.
1. Use 0.8 Density Boards for Inner Cabinet Sections
The inner portions of cabinets are often the most susceptible to water damage due to their porous nature. Opting for boards with a density of 0.8 ensures better resistance against swelling and warping. These boards are less likely to absorb water, maintaining their structural integrity even during prolonged exposure to moisture.
2. Protect Doors and Exposed Sides with 3-Layer WPC Color Boards
Doors and exposed cabinet sides are frequently in contact with water during floods. Using 3-layer WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) color boards offers excellent water resistance. These boards are not only durable but also aesthetically pleasing, ensuring that your interiors remain stylish and functional even in challenging conditions.
3. Opt for Stainless Steel 304-Grade Hardware and Accessories
Floodwater can cause regular metal fittings and accessories to corrode or rust. Investing in stainless steel hardware of 304-grade ensures long-term durability and resistance to rust, even in high-moisture environments. This type of hardware is ideal for hinges, handles, and drawer slides, offering reliability and longevity.
4. Fully Factory-Built Interiors for Precision and Sealing
Factory-built interiors are crafted under controlled conditions, ensuring precision and tight seals that can withstand water exposure. Unlike on-site installations, factory-made products are less prone to gaps and inconsistencies, providing better protection against water ingress.
5. Focus on Resilience Over Cosmetic Flaws
In flood-prone areas, it’s important to prioritize resilience over minor cosmetic imperfections like scratches or external strokes. By choosing materials and finishes designed to endure harsh conditions, you can safeguard up to 80% of your home interiors, minimizing losses during floods.
6. Use Elevated Furniture Designs
Opt for furniture with elevated designs that keep the base off the floor. Raised legs made of waterproof materials like metal or treated wood can protect your furniture from direct contact with water during floods.
7. Seal Wall and Floor Joints
Water often seeps through joints between walls and floors. Properly sealing these joints with waterproof sealants can reduce the risk of water ingress and damage to interiors.
8. Choose Water-Resistant Flooring Materials
Opt for flooring materials such as vitrified tiles, natural stone, or treated hardwood, which are more resistant to water damage. Avoid carpets or untreated wooden floors in flood-prone areas as they can absorb moisture and deteriorate quickly.
9. Install Water-Resistant Wall Cladding
Using water-resistant cladding materials like PVC panels or treated wood can protect your walls from moisture damage. These materials are easy to clean and maintain, even after exposure to floodwaters.
10. Incorporate Modular Furniture
Modular furniture, crafted with water-resistant materials, can be easily moved or lifted during flooding. These designs are not only practical but also add flexibility to your interior layout.
11. Use Waterproof Paints and Finishes
Applying waterproof paints and finishes to walls and furniture can create an additional layer of protection against water damage. These coatings can help prevent swelling, peeling, and discoloration caused by prolonged exposure to moisture.
12. Invest in Floating Shelves and Wall-Mounted Units
Floating shelves and wall-mounted cabinets keep valuables and essentials above potential flood levels. These features ensure that important items remain safe and accessible during flood situations.
13. Reinforce Baseboards and Skirting with Waterproof Materials
Floodwater often damages baseboards and skirting, leading to costly repairs. Reinforcing these areas with waterproof materials like PVC or treated wood can significantly reduce the impact of water exposure.
14. Choose Compact and Minimalist Designs
Compact and minimalist furniture designs are easier to move and protect during floods. This approach also reduces the number of items susceptible to damage, making cleanup and recovery quicker and more efficient.
15. Install Built-In Storage with Raised Bases
Built-in storage solutions, such as wardrobes and cabinets with raised bases, keep contents above flood levels. Elevated designs provide added security for stored items, minimizing damage to valuables.
Final Thoughts
Flood-resistant interiors are not just about damage control; they’re about peace of mind. By incorporating these strategies and materials into your home design, you can significantly reduce the impact of floods on your living space. Preparing for the unexpected is the key to ensuring your home remains a sanctuary, no matter the weather.

5 Amazing Ways Aluminium Profiles Shape Modern Construction
In the world of construction, aluminium profiles, aluminium extrusion, and aluminium extrusion profiles have become irreplaceable. Lightweight, resistant, and versatile, the metal is the preferred choice in innovative designs and sustainable solutions. From towering skyscrapers to intricate interiors, let's explore five remarkable ways aluminum is transforming construction. 1. Structural Support with Aluminium Profiles This has made aluminum the material for frameworks because of its good strength-to-weight ratio. Further, aluminum extrusion profiles serve in beams, columns, and supports, while availing strength with flexibility in design. These lightweight structures reduce the overall load on buildings, making it ideal to use in multi-story buildings and big infrastructural projects. 2. Modern and Resilient Building Facades Aluminum profiles are indispensable for modern building facades. Resistant to corrosion, these provide a long life to the facades exposed to harsh weather conditions. Architects use aluminum because it can combine strength with slim, modern appearances that create striking and low-maintenance facades. 3. Eco-Friendly Doors and Windows In building with energy efficiency, there is no match for aluminum. Aluminum extrusion profiles provide exact fits in doors and windows for improved insulation and reduced energy leakage. Besides, it is fully recyclable, hence sustainable for projects that take into consideration ecological concerns. 4. Versatile Roofing and Cladding Systems From roofing panels to external cladding, no other metal competes with the flexibility that aluminium provides. In an extruded form, the metal offers tough and light panels whose installation and maintenance techniques are simple. The panels insulate well against harsh weather conditions like UV radiation, wind, and rain; therefore, their application suits both commercial and residential areas. 5. Interior Design and Decorative Features Indoors, aluminium is used inside buildings for its versatility and contemporary appearance. It is used to manufacture partition walls, ceiling systems, and decorative elements. One of the primary challenges of anyone envisioning a better future is finding a way of balancing the advancements and benefits in human life brought about with the modern era and industrialization while eliminating as much as possible the negatives associated with it. In some cases there are relatively apparent past states of technologies that seem clearly "better" than those of today (clothing as mentioned, but also stuff like urban planning, architecture, arguably animal agriculture etc. )
In this case I think it's faulty to assume that just because these are past models of a technology, social or otherwise, trying to emulate them is inherently reactionary. Quite the contrary, if you approach these past states of technology with a reactionary, conservative approach, it will almost certainly fail, because widespread changes to technology always happen for material reasons, and to ignore those changes means to ignore the present and the future and their material needs. Take architecture for example: many types of "modern" standardized architecture have very obvious flaws compared to traditional or vernacular types of architecture (lack of durability, ugly and alienation inducing designs that have more of an effect on people's psychology than was originally realized, lack of local adaptions and character, over reliance on climate control to maintain temperature, environmentally damaging building practices, etc.). However, if you seek to create a "better" type of architecture solely by returning to past types you will inevitably fail to create anything but a curiosity, because while some of the theoretical backings behind modern architectures failings may have been initially justified by "progress for progress's sake", this idealism is not why it became the dominant modality of architecture the world over, rather it was that it was much more capable of responding to the material conditions of the 20th century than older types of architecture. Any future type of architecture that wants to have the advantages of old types of architecture and avoid the pitfalls of "modern" architecture needs to understand and respond to material conditions that lead to "modern" architecture becoming dominant as well as the material conditions of today, and to some extent even predict the material conditions of the near future.
Many of the "flaws" of modern architecture are directly tied to its advantages. Mass production and economies of scale, advances in climate control and building techniques are all things that any new form of architecture would need to incorporate. For example, a new type of architecture trying to create more aesthetically pleasing facades could utilize 3d printing to create modular ornamental cladding panels that perhaps also including fire resistance or insulation features. Principles of vernacular architecture that included passive cooling could be combined with air conditioners/heat pumps and algorithmically generated models of air flow and heat distribution as well as weather patterns to create buildings that are uniquely suited to the specific environments while requiring the least amount of external energy for climate control, and older more lasting styles of construction could be combined with modular , mass produced replaceable components that could ensure that new construction could last for generations, which is even more important considering the socio-economic impacts of the impending plateau of the global population. And from my perspective, to truly be a part of a better world , any new method of architecture would need to be compatible with a socialist economic model.
It's fine to look to the past for ideas; not every advancement in human society has lead purely to a better present, but if you actually want to take something positive from it you need to understand why those ideas became ideas of the past in the first place.
genuine question: how do you reconcile the fact that trying to return to a "superior" past way of doing things is an inherently reactionary way to think or act with the fact that some things now seem so much worse than they used to be? i try not to fall into the trap of idealising the past, but the more i learn about certain topics -- notably the textiles industry, and the current mass reliance on planned obsolescence of cheap, polyester clothing that goes straight to landfill when it's done -- i struggle with how that's in any way better, or even equivalent, to what came before
i mean obviously the specifics of e.g. fast fashion are indeed awful. however i think its good to remember that before the invention of mass textile production most clothes were made by women engaged in backbreaking unpaid domestic labour and that not being the case anymore is pretty good. the point of not being a reactionary is not to accept a whiggish view of history where everything now is the best it's ever been in every way, but rather to locate the solutions to problems within the present day conditions and work towards a future, rather than a past, where those problems can be eradicated.
