I think clèmence is a straight up ai or code or something. Maybe programmed to be a helper or part of the machine (as realised in 1899 as someone programmed to be an ideal wife or mother) who starts to break under her programming - because she doesn’t want her perfect marriage. And she doesn’t want children. Or even to live our her code. Can’t get out of my head the fact that
a) beyond almost anyone else she’s always identified by the triangles that hang from her ears
b) the detail she probably didn’t have a letter, but instead took it from the pocket of the trousers she took from ángel’s room. She’s pretending to be invited onto the ship, even if she was already part of the ship
c) no fucking backstory at all
d) an AI programmed to serve breaking into sentience meet upper class society woman from 1899 breaking free see what they’re doing see
