An effort to change Santa Clara’s City charter from an elected city clerk and police chief to appointed ones appears to have failed. According to the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters, both Measures A and B on the March 5 ballot have failed. Measure A – Santa Clara’s City Clerk Will Remain Elected. At last update, just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, 66.91% of voters believed that the City Charter should remain the same, with the City Clerk as an elected position. "Langley Reinstates Soldier as Clerk," Vancouver Sun. October 23, 1943. Page 12. --- Major R. A. Payne was reinstated as municipal clerk of Langley by the municipal council on Thursday night, bringing an end to a dispute between the council and Payne over his reinstatement following his discharge from the army.
Last August, the council passed resolutions retiring Major Payne, who had been discharged from the army, and appointing E. A. Fountain as acting clerk.
Thursday night, the council at a special meeting rescinded these resolutions after T. R. Selkirk, New Westminster, reviewed Major Payne's position.
Reeve Alex Hope and several councillors expressed regret that owing to a misunderstanding of the intentions of Major Payne, the action had been taken.
Last August, they said, they had no knowledge of the reinstatement provisions of the Civil Employment Act.

It's a bit hard to reconstruct the backstory of how Mina Lucy and Jonathan met...
- Mina and Lucy have known each other "since they were children"
- Lucy talks about Mina's pupils as something pretty close to peers and Mina does seem to sometimes lump her with them as someone she's being an example for...
- Mina knew Jonathan for several years and since "before she went to school". This is widely interpreted as being before she went to school in their early childhood, but could also be before she went to school as a teacher. However would those periods really be distinct in the Victorian era, or would Mina just pass directly from student to schoolmistress upon "graduation"?
- Lucy does not know Jonathan, canonically. I know, its terrible. Totally destroying OT3 dreams. But Mina writes in a letter "the quiet dignity I told you was in his face"
How did this happen???
#im thinking like. lucy and mina met in school mina and jonathan met as teenagers with jonathan being in town on clerk business exclusively#in the periods lucy was at whitby?? is that a sensible thing to happen#dracula daily#op#it doesnt help that im bad BAD at figuring out which mentioned places are suburbs of london and which are whole other faraway cities

Update on the bubblegum infractor... or INFRACTORS. Turns out there's a group (likely a sindicate) of them doing this kind of shit around the district using a strange chewable mix where it's safe to mix it on any liquids but once dry, it becomes a somekind of poison. Thanks the people above for these layered gloves and gasmask, but wont change the fact that there's someone out there wanting to get rid of us.
#w corp clerk rambles#w corp#project moon#Now i have to ask the guys at the labs about what's in the mix#Because it can't be any different than your usual poisons#right?#Won't change the fact that we are tryng to do our jobs and people yet likes to be... you know#But it's the city. there's too many bloddthirsty bastards out there#((im considering in tagging my main blog in the blog's description to clear up some confusion but idk#((may delete the OOC tag later

since gloria's trek from the vault to diamond city was SO horrific, it's permanently warped her sense of appropriate escalation forever. stepping on a landmine and suffering serious injury as a result is obviously a huge life event, she nearly died of sepsis, but it's the raiders hunting her for three days straight that really changed her. gloria before and after the landmine are pretty similar people. gloria before and after being hunted are almost similar people, and i think she's cognizant of that fact and hates it. she abhors violence intellectually, she has a very strong sense of right and wrong, but depending on the circumstance she's fine leaning into the 'wrong' and, at the end of the day, could beat somebody to death with a brick and not bat an immaculately made-up eye. another day another dollar, right? it's just how the world is now
#fo4#fallout 4#gloria roche#dead man talking#i love her she has so many problems.#she can't go to the market in diamond city without putting on full body armour#'on edge' is an understatement she's already fell off and she's clinging on by her nails#i think nick is understanding of this facet of her character because he's never felt the primal 'i need food or i will die' need#it turns out if you pluck a random bank clerk from 2077 and launch her into the nuclear future it does unimaginable psychological damage#nick valentine/gloria roche#really putting that fatale in femme

With less than three weeks to go before the election, the campaign for and against appointing the City’s city clerk (Measure A) and police chief (Measure B) is in high gear. The opposition campaign is being run by Santa Clara Police Association PAC rather than by a purpose-formed committee. Supporters of the measure have formed a conventional political committee. when u tell someone who hasn’t had to apply for a job in a while “the interview process is like 6 weeks atp” they don’t believe you but a lot of employers will wait like 2 weeks to follow up, and they always need to do multiple rounds of interviews which takes a week for each round, and then there’s two more weeks of dead silence before you hear back. sometimes you’ll apply for something in january and they will call you up in the summer like “hey you still want the job” it’s crazy. they’re out here putting desk clerks through two phone interviews and two in persons at two different locations. they make the pages interview TWICE and they also have to do TWO sorting tests!! that job pays well below minimum wage, it’s a job meant for retirees and high school students why do you interview them like it requires a mlis
#i had to do a skill test for carson’s too but at least it was only one round of interviews#i know it’s not just libraries bc i applied to two eye doctors four dentists and as a desk clerk type job but idr where#i think they could tell i wasn’t enthusiastic about the job tbh and how dare they put me all those interviews aksjsj#also the one eye care made me refill out my entire resume when i got there. i think they didn’t like that i didn’t drive#but a lot of library workers are also car less lmao. like half of them like me could never afford it so we never got a license#and a good quarter are retirees who do this as basically a hobby and they only have one car so the husband takes the car bc he works farther#that may sound specific but i know like 12 different old white ladies with exactly that story#at goodwill they wrote us up if we were late bc of the train that was literally down the street meanwhile in libraries ur manager is always#late bc she commutes in from The Big City and the most senior person in the department is always late bc the bus was late and her husband#had the car that day and she is the oldest most wrinkled woman you will ever meet. a stiff wind will blow her away. she smokes 8 packs a day#anyway i hate applying for jobs#rani makes text posts no one will read
