HIGH FIBER
Southeastern Wisconsin has a strong tradition of working fiber artists and programs that foster them. Fiber artworks often bridge and break down the historic gap between traditional craft and fine arts. They create openings in interpretation, invite exploration of gendered roles/methods of making. This exhibition showcases the work of 11 invited emerging to established artists working with fibers.
This exhibition is free and open to the public.
Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts (JGCA) is a non-profit organization serving Southeastern Wisconsin with a diverse range of visual and performing arts programming, created by a diverse community of visual and performing artists. At JGCA we provide opportunities to create, present, and experience the arts.

I received these products for free from @airscense in exchange for my honest review. 💜 I love this stuff! Makes my whole house smell good. Just a couple quick squirts and it lingers for hours. Works perfectly for all odors. I like to use this when my cat poop and the litter box started to smell. Works great when microwaving strong foods too. My favorite is the orange, coz it’s so natural and smells like fresh peeled fruit. 🧡 Completely mask the smell without being overwhelming. I use them in my bathroom. Excellent in small spaces too. I like that these products are plant and mineral based. In recyclable aluminum bottles, making it eco-friendly. Loving my new spray-to-go! Available at @cvs_beauty @wholefoods and @sprouts @citrasolv #airscense #citrasolv #sprayandgo #asaferoption #airfreshener #essentialoils #freshfragrance #homefragrance #fragrance #fresh #homesweethome #plantbased #toiletspray #aromatherapy #gifted (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CakMHDLlPFY/?utm_medium=tumblr

Salisbury Artist Book Club Meeting: Citra-Solv & National Geographic Project
It's been one month since my artist book club meet- and we decided to make papers again because it's summer and we do what we want! Since it's summer, a lot of the ladies are quite busy so it's still nice to meet but without a major project to get done. Today we met in the little park by the river and used Citra-Solv to manipulate and decorate pages from National Geographics. I can finally cross this off my To Do List! So exciting!
If you don't know, Citra-Solv is a natural cleaning agent and is quite concentrated. When used against old inks, especially those from the National Geographic magazines, the ink is broken down and therefore can be manipulated with different marking tools, stamps, and stencils. It is not a new technique, and lots of people in the art world use this for collage fodder or papers for paintings and artist books.
Lisa brought the Cirta-Solv, bins, gloves, and magazines. We started the process and found out quite a lot about the technique. Images can be transferred to other pages, even plain paper. It can be added again after drying to pull away ink, to make marks with a stencil. Using a rag, towel, or plastic, different marks are made into wet ink or over dry paper. The pages stay surprisingly flat, so it's easy to decorate your pages. Barbara actually started making "art journal" prompts or "page-starters" just by scrubbing away the colors. I used a layering method of wet, dry, wet, dry and I got a very stippled and textured look. I will use my pages for sketchbook work and some mixed media work, I think. Lisa made a really nice bound book with her pages. Some pages are perfect all on their own, which I might just mount and frame! Now that's something.
Lisa gifted us with some magazines and I am going to definitely going to dive into this more. I filmed some of the process which will be in the next vlog! It's been raining for a week, and it's going to rain for another week. The moon blessed us with a few hours of pure art joy, and I am forever grateful. Plus, I still smell like oranges, so there's that.

no time to read?
no time to read?
No Direction Known – Mixed media/collage/acrylic I miss blogging and mentioned it to someone the other day. They said no one wants to read blogs anymore. I am pretty sure that isn’t true. Authors still write books and people read them and they even make it to the best sellers list and have them adapted to film at times. Not everyone is completely addicted to TikTok or Insta. My friend Claudia…

Frank Castle/the Punisher, an assortment of media including acrylic, graphite, conté, charcoal pencil. I’m a big Punisher fan and Jon Bernthal definitely did not fit my image of Frank; having watched season 1 of the series though, I admit he’s grown on me. Because—that face. 🙂
