This project started with George Floyd & ended with Amanda Gorman, so it's strange that they're both in the news this week...🌺What I also found strange during this 3 month installation was that HIS portrait was the one that kept falling down, asking for my continued attention. So I'd return to the window and have a little chat with him as I rehung his portrait, taking me back to the beginning of this series. 🖤”I spent hours studying his face, staring into his eyes, and sitting with his story. I found that long after I put the sign down, I still carried him with me. Learning someone’s story turns strangers into friends. And painting someone? It’s inherently an act of love. As an artist, I follow love. So I kept painting portraits..."
