Despite how much I love KotLC, it suddenly occurred to me I hadn’t done much fanart; I decided to change that. So I drew these two lol. I just love them, sokeefe all the way.
I for the life of me can’t remember which book this scene took place in -

[Image description: Two digital drawings. The first features Temenos Mistral and Aelfric in a medieval-style composition. The second features Kaldena and Temenos posing together in a study. There are full descriptions of both drawings under the cut. End image description.]

happy birthday @maverickflare <3
[Image description: In the first drawing, Aelfric sits on his stone pedestal outside the Flamechurch Cathedral at night. He wears a flowing white dress, a black long-sleeved undergarment, and a teal cloak. He also wears a gold belt and bracelet, and the medallion on his cloak depicts the Sacred Flame. His face is almost entirely eclipsed by a shining white halo; only the outlines of his narrowed eye, lofty smile, and long, curly hair can be seen. In one of his hands burns a blue flame, while the other hand cradles Temenos Mistral's face. Temenos looks up at Aelfric with an expression of dread and reverence, sweat beading on his cheek. The illustration has a border of gold and lapis lazuli that includes medallions at its corners and midpoints, which depict various other characters. At the top center is Crick Wellsley, holding up a red book so that it covers the lower half of his face; he looks directly at the viewer with a shadow over his eyes. On either side of him, as well as at the bottom center, are three angels with shackles around their necks. They smile placidly and hold their hands up in supplication as they gaze at Crick. At the middle left is Pontiff Jörg, looking tiredly off to the side. At the middle right is Roi Mistral, looking downwards with a troubled expression. All of them are drawn with blue haloes. The bottom left medallion shows Aelfric's hand reaching around Temenos's neck; his eyes are hidden, his face is flushed, and his mouth is slightly open. The bottom right medallion is shattered. Between each medallion, a poem is written in Orsterran script and framed by arabesques. The red background beyond the border, decorated with eight black, winged, haloed Sacred Flames, completes the poem. It reads: "THE FACE OF MY LORD / is a devouring fire / THE FACE OF MY LORD / is a destroying angel / THE FACE OF MY LORD / disturbs slumberers in the night / THE FACE OF MY LORD / menaces children at church / THE FACE OF MY LORD / does not appear / THE FACE OF MY LORD / cannot appear / THE FACE OF MY LORD / is a wreath of tears / THE FACE OF MY LORD / is a broken mirror"
In the second drawing, Kalenda sits at a desk in an intricately carved wooden chair. She wears a plum-purple tailcoat, wine-red waistcoat with a dotted pattern, black trousers, and a white shirt with ruffles at the wrist and a black ribbon at the collar. On her left hand, she wears three silver rings; on her right hand, she wears a gold ring on her ring finger. A flower-decorated bowl holding a pomegranate, plum, and grapes sits on her desk. In her right hand is a lychee. Temenos stands behind her, bracing his left hand on the chair and resting the other playfully on Kaldena's head, seemingly reaching for the lychee. He wears a white shirt, black waistcoat, yellow-green waistscarf, and teal trousers which are heavily embroidered with nature imagery. He also wears a pearl earring; a matching gold ring on his right ring finger; and a gold necklace with a pendant of Crick, who is haloed and holding his right hand up in a gesture of blessing. Kaldena and Temenos are both looking at the viewer and smiling. The simplistic background shows an entrance to another room as well as a tall bookcase, with the top shelf holding a vase and two figurines of a griffin and winged serpent. End image description.]

Waaaaaghhh!! I love the art where Sol has a bit of a rounded jaw! I think he looks so much more mischievous! Now he has an angular jaw, which I still like, but it makes him look grumpier! One of them is the tricky swindler while the other is the fearsome grumbler!
This is purely an aesthetic difference though. They’re both pretty grumpy
Ngl I usually reference Daisuke's illustrations for Sol's face more than his in-game model so I always forget that they totally changed his face shape in the 3D realm (Strive & Xrd in-game screenshots vs illustrations from Artworks GGX 2000-2007):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But his very, very, first—from 1995—3D model had a jaw shape closer to how Daisuke generally draws it, which is interesting. And a little funny (from Dengeki PlayStation vol.10, October '95):
Tumblr media
I love how inconsistently Daisuke draws him in general though, genuinely. It's very "I'm the artist and this is what I feel like drawing today," which I respect and feel on a spiritual level haha

These are all from the Overture Material Collection. Not even his hair or skin color are consistent and these were likely done all in the same year rofl

remembering a little scene from "age of bronze" by eric shanower (which i highly suggest anyone who likes greek mythology and especially mycenaean history should read -- if you can handle how fucked up the story is) where agamemnon is annoyed by how heartbroken menelaus is over helen, and he turns to his bestie odysseus and says something like "let me give you some advice, odysseus: never fall in love with your wife" (gods know agamemnon doesnt love -- or deserve -- clytemnestra) and odysseus is just like...."uhh yeah...it's a bit late for that"

Today's flower is the deadly oleander! Scientific name Nerium Oleander
Tumblr media
Oleander, scientifically known as Nerium oleander, is a flowering shrub that belongs to the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. Native to the Mediterranean region, oleander is widely cultivated for its attractive flowers and ornamental value.
In ancient times, oleander was highly regarded for its medicinal properties. The ancient Greeks and Romans used extracts from the plant to treat a wide range of ailments, including heart conditions, asthma, and epilepsy. The plant’s therapeutic value was also recognized in traditional Chinese medicine, where it was used to alleviate digestive issues and reduce inflammation.
oleander became a symbol of love and romance, often used to express affection and adoration.
However, oleander’s symbolic significance isn’t limited to positive connotations. In some cultures, the plant is associated with deception and betrayal.
Every part of the oleander plant contains toxic compounds, but some parts are more potent than others. Here are the parts of the plant that pose the greatest risk:
Leaves: The leaves of the oleander plant contain cardiac glycosides, which are toxic to the heart. These compounds interfere with the normal pumping of the heart, leading to irregular heart rhythms and potentially fatal consequences if ingested.
Stems: The stems of the oleander plant also contain cardiac glycosides, although in lower concentrations compared to the leaves. While the stems may not be as toxic as the leaves, they should still be handled with caution to avoid any potential adverse effects.
Flowers: Surprisingly, even the beautiful flowers of the oleander plant are toxic. They contain the same cardiac glycosides as the leaves and stems, making them equally dangerous if ingested.
Seeds: The seeds of the oleander plant are highly toxic and should be avoided at all costs. Ingesting the seeds can lead to severe poisoning and even death.

На учебной практике одно из заданий было нарисовать паттерн. Получилось очень миленькой, буду рада если кто-то ещё будет им пользоваться
During the educational practice, one of the tasks was to draw a pattern. It turned out very nice, I will be glad if someone else uses it

[Image description: Two digital drawings featuring Strelitzia as an adult. Both scenes are enclosed in a circular border with four nodes. In the first, Strelitzia wears the true Dandelion cloak. She stands tall, the toe of her boot extending past the border. She has an immense halo around her head, which begins with a shock of white before bursting into many bright colors. Her left hand is raised in a beckoning gesture, showing that she wears a rose-shaped ring on her scarred middle finger. With her right hand, she points at Vanitas, who kneels before her in his sleeveless yukata and raises his hands as if to either defend himself or swear fealty. Both of their faces are cast in shadow, revealing only their eyes. Vanitas's eyes are wide with terror as he stares up at Strelitzia, but hers are calm and gleam with an unnatural light as she looks at the viewer. A Chrono Twister, Archraven, Red Hot Chili, Prize Pod, Blobmob, and Spiderchest are gathered behind Vanitas, while a small, wine-colored Flood latches onto his side, as if trying to help him. The background is a pattern made up of dots and the letter X; there are some gaps in the pattern which are filled with streaks of bright red, resembling wounds.
In the second drawing, Strelitzia stands in a dark ocean with Kingdom Hearts as a blood moon framing her head. She wears Sephiroth's Dissidia outfit. She extends her right hand to the viewer, while her left hand rests on the guard of Kingdom Key D. To her right stands Vanitas in Sephiroth's KH2 outfit, and to her left is Ventus in Cloud's KH2 outfit. All three of them have their faces hidden by white haloes; Vanitas and Ventus's mirror each other and resemble a partial solar eclipse, while Strelitzia's halo combines the two into a total eclipse. Paine, Yuna, and Rikku float above them with celebratory expressions and poses. The background is a pattern of blue arabesques with interspersed pink dots. End image description.]
