Here’s to the beauty of “blank canvases”. It's nature in which allows us the ability to create a piece of art work from scratch. With every single detail hand picked by yours truly.

"I really gave it my all for this one, it is definitely the most effort I've ever put into a video drop.. to date!"
This is my first time dropping a dance video accompanied by others. The first piece in which I've envisioned and planned out for a long time, months. From location to clothing to choreography to concept to symbolism to specific shots/scenes and more specifically to artistry. This also happened to be the first choreography (completely of my own) I taught in a public class setting.
This was my first time working with/directing a team of 4 dancers and 1 videographer, where I've learned that the necessity to communicate my visions clearly is the absolute key and to treat the people who you're working with with respect as well as getting sh*t done on the way haha :)
The experience of being able to create something from scratch, having execute it as best we could on set and being able to direct and share my ideas with people is one thing that got my whole heart in the process of making this video. It definitely nudged me in the right direction as to where I want to go from here/who I aspire to be in the future in this dance game. I think this is it..
Everything is a learning process and even though the production quality and choreography standard, at this moment, is still not in parr with all the amazing international artists out there.. I'm so so happy and comforted by the growth (slow but happening) of my work, in which I hope y'all think so too :| haha.

Here's to the beauty of "first times".

Thank you so much Paven Gill for the birth of Get Down Vol. 3. For giving me this opportunity to experience my First Ever Collaboration experience. Not only was I able to teach my FIRST EVER CLASS, but to also be given the opportunity to work, in collaboration, with the wonderful Trevor Santos from Melbourne.
The nerve-wrecking yet exciting process of it all was one for the books and I'm forever grateful for the opportunity and the push this has given me.
Thank you everyone who came to class and supported me throughout this and my beginner teaching journey! Thank you Paven, again, for creating this event for the community, we needed it! and Thank you so much Trevor! It was a pleasure working with you and feeling nervous together haha I have so much to learn and I'm so glad my journey began with this!

Cheryl Lee Choreography | Technologic
This is a new video of an old piece I made for a school exam in 2012. For my last year in high school, I decided to take up Contemporary Dance as a subject. hahah, the fact that I've never had any training, damn that was a hard year! ha but I didn't mind working that little bit harder to keep up with the rest cause well... I loved it :) Anyway, so we were all required to create a solo piece in preparation for the big exams at the end of the year. We had to pick a concept that came under the topic of "Youth Issues" and mine reflects the idea of "influence of technology". My piece is presented as a metaphor of an individual (representing everyone) gradually becoming a "machine" due to excessive use, reliance and influence of technology in our current generation. Obviously, there are many ways to perceive today's technology improvements but I chose to portray the negative outcomes in this piece. I felt that it would've had more power and message for an audience. The piece is separated into 3 parts. The first part shows the individual as still a complete human. (hence the flow and softness of the movements- reflecting that humans still hold the ability to feel different emotions). The middle section represents the process of "becoming a machine" where the movements are slowly turning jerky, robotic and hard hitting yet still intertwined with some soft contemporary flow. The final segment of angular shapes, semi-popping technique and hard hitting movements is the portrayal of the individual ultimately transformed into a machine due to negative technological exposure. At the conclusion, the "human" has become an official "unidentified object". I was very proud of this piece because of the MASSIVE thought and hard work I put into this. I knew my weaknesses as a contemporary dancer so I decided to work my strengths and interpret some hip-hop/lyrical technique into the piece. AND IT PAID OFF :D Only the top students were able to perform during dance night and I was definitely blessed to be one of them. EVEN blessed to be awarded performer of the night. That night was definitely one of the most memorable nights up to date. Dancing on stage (even though it was only a small stage)... best feeling in the world. FYI, apologies for the unnecessary angles hahah I had no control over it :( Hope you enjoyed it! Subscribe, Like, Comment, Share!! Huge shout out to Ms Berryman for the guidance and support!
