Went in to have a look at this lovely old church in New Norfolk. The oldest Anglican Church in Tasmania the lady said, built on 1823! Old churches have that surreal feel to them don’t they. When you let the solid timber door close behind you, the air settles into a stillness you don’t find anywhere else. Noise from the outside world disappears, the temperature and dim lighting add to a celestial emptiness and you find yourselves speaking in whispers even though there’s no one else there to disturb.
