Church Update #1

Hello Brothers and Sisters in the Atom,

I wanted to share a quick update on my surgery, which I mentioned in today’s sermon. The procedure went smoothly, and I’m already on the road to recovery. The torn tendons are on their way to healing, and I’m grateful for the surgeons, radiologists, and other medical professionals that made this possible.

As I rest and recover, I’m reflecting on the gift of science and how it helps us rebuild and thrive. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. If you have your own stories of healing or resilience, I’d love to hear them. Let’s continue to build this community together.

i'm not even sure that i believe in God, but i started going to this episcopal church recently bc there were just so many older gay people there and i felt like i needed that in my life and there was a gay priest. people were actually so chill about me being trans, which shocked me, but i figured there were just humoring me - but this past sunday the priest did a sermon on the story in acts about the Ethiopian eunuch. and like, i've heard a thousand sermons on this passage bc its like the first missionary story and people use it a lot to justify their colonization blah blah blah but like everyone glossed over the eunuch thing.

but the (straight) priest talked about how eunuch is a kind of stand in word for gender non-conforming person and actually literally said from the pulpit that we should be welcoming and accepting of all trans people and not ask them to change and !?!?!?! like i never expected to hear that preached in my lifetime, especially in fucking kentucky.

the world can seem so dark and being trans is fucking hard and you just come to expect so little from people ESPECIALLY chrisitans and i'm just so pleasantly surprised. it's just kind of amazing to see chrsitians live up to this loving their neighbor shit they are always talking about

Y’all, I never have a weekend off from work, what am I supposed to do with myself, what is all this free time, I already assembled a dog crate, cleaned the house, rearranged the living room, visited my folks, and I’m just sitting here.

Does anyone want to talk blorbos or AUs?

Got back from my trip back down to my old area and it went... really well actually. For all that I hated, hated, HATED living there, during the last 7 years or so I found a community the next town over that was lovely and supportive and wonderfully kind. Some of them have moved away in the time I've been gone, but I had SO much gd fun visiting with everyone still there, watching the renewal of vows, dancing at the reception, getting tons of massive bear hugs and lots of cheek kisses, and I even popped into their church service this morning to visit a bit longer with everyone (hilariously i did not burst into flames or get thrown out). I missed them so much. It's not my faith anymore, and church is no longer my 'place', but my friends there... I'm glad I didn't have to leave them behind, that we all still love each other, that they're all so happy about me being happy and I'm just as happy that they're happy. And some of them said they'd come up to my city to visit! YES. COME TO ME IN THE LAND OF SNOW AND ICE, VISIT ME, LIVE HERE, MOVE HERE, I PROMISE IT'S NOT AS COLD AS YOU THINK.

Also I stopped at my family's favorite hole-in-the-wall bakery before starting home because I'd called ahead for 2 dozen of their speciality chocolate frosted, glazed cinnamon buns, they are as big as your hand, they're the most delicious things I've ever had, the bakery owner lady literally helped me carry all the boxes out to my car, I am going to freeze them and see if me and the fam can't drag out the supply for 6-8 months, I regret nothing.

Romancing Vesper or f!Onyx in WTC is particularly juicy because this way MC gets to hate herself not only because of her 'unholy' powers, but also because she's gay, which is x2 religious trauma combo.

I feel like the watchers are like. Mormons or Puritans almost. And listeners is more like living in Greece or Rome or pre angles whales.

i've thought abt the listeners dressed in ancient greek attire ! having them lean more to a pagan aspect.. I still consider Martyn to be agnostic tho, he doesn't join the listeners, just works for them.

i write/headcanon the watchers as catholics bc..

1: the angel statues and imagery, catholics love that shit, the paintings, the statues, the rosaries. Its much like the watchers leaving symbols and statues/buildings.

2: grian speaks abt/to them so casually, like hes praying to saints

3: the update stuff......... catholics like.... progress.... over time... depending on the catholic church/pope....... (reaching)

4: the watchers are big on rules and atoning when you've done wrong, (like grian being greedy and having his chests blocked.)

5: catholic guilt !! the watchers gave that boy catholic guilt (this is inspired by fanfictions tho)

6: i was raised vaguely catholic its the only religion i rly know well or feel comfortable writing lmao

Of course, watchers are just their worlds Version of catholics, it doesnt mirror perfectly, the imagery is just fun for me.

i think people that are fans of evo and hold a different religion should write the watchers their religious way, its interesting imo

I can't share even a clip cos it would mega doxx me instantly but anyway last year the local church had a thing where children were meant to collect pasta et al to donate to food banks in the area and I made a video for them showing the kinds of things they wanted and today I got an email that they're doing it again with a link to a video and I thought omg I wonder if it's the same and it is but they like. sped it up to at LEAST 2x speed and reduced the number of pixels from hundreds of thousands to about five thus rendering me the unwitting star in the world's most low quality most catholic cocomelon video. for absolutely no reason that I can possibly imagine because I have no idea why on earth they would have chosen to do this with a video they emailed out just fine last year. god bless
