"Team Rose" - for my Sonic AU :] some notes on the au below the cut
The gist of this Sonic au is: what if Sonic characters but they were born and lived in my original world building? The story/world-building is a mix of my inspirations, namely LISA: The Painful, Madoka Magica and classic dystopias like 1984. Basically, a post-apocalyptic world where due to the political turmoil the apocalypse caused, many cities ended up becoming dystopias. Also every concept is a deity you can make a contract with.
Amy Rose Becker: Previously named Amy Rose before being adopted by Vanilla and Cream Becker (Becker just means baker which is why I chose it :]). She takes after her biological parents as an avid reporter and head of the school newspaper, and loves to look into a good mystery. Her bubbly and kind personality makes her very popular, but she doesn't have any close friendships outside her friendship with Sticks. When she isn't working or looking into a new story, you can usually find her practicing Tarot readings and reading about the occult.
Cream Becker: Daughter of Vanilla Becker. A cute and bubbly kid who is always kind to those she meets. She is very close to Amy and enjoys hanging out with her, and at times teasing her and messing with her as any good younger sister does. When she's not at school or by Amy's side, she usually likes to help her mom in running the bakery they have or reading fantasy books.
Sticks Jebediah: Amy's closest friend and one of her only close friends. A very antisocial and conspiratorial girl, yet somehow a lot of her predictions seem to come true. Before the apocalypse and brutal regime change occured, her and her family lived in a strange underground death cult, before they were forced to move out and integrate into the new society. While Sticks parents are alive, they are so chronically absent from her life that she may as well live on her own. Before Sticks became friends with Amy, she always had a new conspiracy she submitted to the school newspaper. Usually Amy would ignore most her tips but one day decides to give in to shut Sticks up once and for all. What they find is very unexpected and Amy gains a newfound respect for Sticks and her strange ideas. From there they end up really close and hang out all the time. When Sticks isn't hanging out with Amy she usually is either designing a new trinket or slinking around to look out for any oddities.

YEAH HONESTLY but also I needa rewatch it so I can compile all the theories I made with my friends and get new ones. also needs compile stuff that people got from the Twitter, grintly... I should check before I even begin actually to see if someone else made Gilbert theory/compilation doc cus for sure there's gotta be someone who did but I wanna do my own as well 😭
Gilbert Garfield is literally hard to watch sometimes because of just some of the really gross imagery, like all the content warnings but something about it is compelling, just how deep it goes and its what id call art despite the way its presented.

Want to give some rambles about Epithet Erased or any of your other fandoms (summary, top ten great things, etc.) for some totally other people (not me ofc) who want to get into the fandoms their friends love?
OMFGJKSKSKKSKSKS SRSLY??
Other people (who are totally not you) want to get to know my current fandom????!! 💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally, I think it’s more fun if you dive into the episodes blind but I can give you a quick run through of what to expect for Epithet Erased.
Quick Summary:
In this world, 1 in 5 people are born with rare powers called “Epithets.” A word inscribed into their soul that allows them to use magic they associate with that word. The only limit here is your creativity.
The main character, Molly Blyndeff, is one of those gifted people. Unluckily, she accidentally finds herself in the middle of a scuffle for the “Arsene Amulet” that has the ability to steal anyone’s epithet. As multiple people race for the artefact, would Molly escape? Or would she get her epithet…erased?
*ahem* may have gotten dramatic there-
Now my thoughts:
First off, the artstyle and character design is SOO pretty and just overall SOO fun to draw! I love how much you can so much as glance at a character and have some idea of who they are instantly.
Tumblr media
The animation in here has a unique sort of tabletop style that I personally instantly found creative and charming. And GAWD, don’t even get me started on the legendary voice-acting. Along with the music, these all make up for the lack of smooth animation that you’d typically find in other indie shows. (Pls pls pls pls don’t immediately judge it for its animation style-)
Tumblr media
But in certain special scenarios (fight scenes) where it DOES get animated, it’s just entertaining to watch again and again. Especially the Redwood Run Arc. My favourite :)) The special effects used are utilised heavily to make for just beautiful cinematography.
Tumblr media
The story is mostly comedic but knows when to dial it down for wholesome and touching scenes. The characters all have strong distinct personalities (which I adore) that bounce off of others in many entertaining ways. It’s very likely to find multiple dynamics you grow to get fond of.
………
Though, this may just be me and my personal thoughts. You might have different taste but I do highly recommend checking it out! Currently, the animated series has a playlist here on YT and its sequel is a book that I think you can find on a pdf for free somewhere.
Though, if you really grew to love it, I suggest buying the sequel’s audiobook as well for an immersive experience (and to support future books incoming!).
Enjoy and let me know what you think Bo! <33
(Oh wait- Not Bo. Obviously)

its not too bad but it takes messing around with the engine a lot just to get the hang of stuff. there's a lot of good tutorials online if you wanna see, depending on the engine. MV is the most abundant in tutorials, while VX Ace is super sparse (I use MZ + VX Ace so I'm most familiar with them) But, tutorials can be used across engines since a lot of them tend to be similar while still having differences (i.e. the programming language.
I think my favorite tutorials to use are Level Up Design's Tutorials. He does a good job of explaining stuff simply and in an engaging way too.
It also helps to learn as you go along instead of trying to learn all at once, which is what I've been doing. Rather than watch tutorials then go into the engine, I mess around as I use the engine until I find a roadblock and look up an RPG Maker tutorial for it. There's practically a tutorial for everything, its pretty cool.
how hard is rpg maker to learn? I have little to no coding experience and I've never actually made anything in rpg maker before, but i'm tempted to attempt making something from scratch gdhghds

@miutonium (I hope it's ok if I tag you!!) and I were chatting the other day about characters we stopped simping for after they gained a "canonical" love interest, and mine has been on my mind ever since. And since then I have been thinking... I don't let canon stop me in any other way, so who is it to stop me now?!💪😤 Canon is hereby irrelevant in this house.
That said, I'd like to introduce you to my ninja-robot husband.☺✨💞

I have so much sonic fanart but it's all for my dumbfuck not dumbfuck AU where it's just sonic characters if they were born in my original worldbuilding I have 500 pages of notes that I've been working on since I was 16, so I wouldn't be able to share any of it without having to explain allat. If anyone's interested in seeing sketches out of context tho MAYBE I can share it. lol.
Ok well maybe I can kinda explain the worldbuilding i have a bit. the basic gist of the worldbuilding its like a post-apocalyptic world set in a giant abyss where an apocalypse resulted from a bio-engineered soul virus was let loose so it killed like 70% of the population. oh and also there are several cities that are micro dystopias or whatever because due to the apocalypse a ton of political structures caved and got taken over by dictators. im hoping to make an rpg game set in this world sometime, tho ive been hyperfixating on sonic as of recent so i decided i might as well use my hyperfixation for actual writing inspo which is how i ended up with this au and uh. yeah. ive been having a lot of fun with it tho :]

Something about being a writer that has a story set in a time similar to the 21st century with social media is having to 1. Make usernames and 2. Realize that you might end up causing a few people IRL to use it as a chum handle.
There is a secret third realization: You can make a chum handle in the story, and if someone uses it, it's a DOUBLE chum handle.

omega under tha cut ramble nerd idea blast:
i cant really think of much criticism wise. buut i sure got some ideas. immediately, my mind went to "what is the reason behind this deity guarding the lumber mill?" and if you haven't already baked up a dope reason for this that was omitted from this post for some reason: Possibly he wants the lumber mill to never go into operation again, because somehow this dude draws his power/life force/whatever from the cursed trees.
or, maybe,
the trees themselves are somehow containing damned souls supposed to be trapped forever, and Northwood is tasked with keeping these souls imprisoned, and the trees getting destroyed would free the soul or something.
either way, trees from this cursed forest being destroyed is something this guy very much doesn't want, and he goes to extreme lengths to eliminate all possibility of this forest being harmed in the present or future.
or maybe if this dude looks a bit too much like the basic pop culture mimic/skinwalker/whatever, we can spice up the hosts appearance a bit and add some classic™ tree body horror:
sharp branches growing out of appendages, acting as claws.
roots underneath the flesh, acting as both muscles and veins; pulling and twisting the body along, disregarding both the limits and wishes of the host entirely. can possibly be used as armor aswell?
leaves/branches growing out of the host's mouth, eyes, etc. preventing a possibly still conscious and alive host from warning others to run the heck away.
leaves growing out of the host's skin to camouflage
that's all i can come up with for now, cool concept as always!!!
(also, completely unrelated and not important at all, but remember to use "an" when the next word starts with a vowel instead of "a", i've noticed you don't do that much)
this is massively out of character for my blog but I need constructive criticism for a monster design for a original story
It's under the cut, cw for: starving deer, body horror, blood, screwed up anatomy. Textual references to voice mimicry and hunting
Tumblr media
This is Carnonos / Northwood. He's a deity from the woods who guards a abandoned lumber mill in a cursed forest. He hunts down whoever steps inside. He possesses animals, like this deer here, and warps them to fit his needs. He pulls the animal in such ways that stretch their skin and muscles taught, like starving.
When you kill the vessel he's possessed, he will just move on to a new one!
so if you go into the woods around the Lumber Mill, and hear disembodied screams, don't follow, because he's using the victims of the mill's accidents (or his own kills) screeches of pain!
I was inspired by the Bear from Annihilation, and the legends of the Not Deer.
I just feel like he's missing something...any suggestions?
