consider me a house fandom Australian Cultural Liason: hereâs some chase family christmas headcanons!
rowan and his mum definitely drag chase and retcon sister along to midnight mass on christmas day. it, as the name suggests, starts at midnight (imagine sitting awake in lousy wooden chairs on CHRISTMAS EVE/DAY as like. an eight year old. catholicism is stupid) and includes receiving communion (the little wafer, and the wine if youâre old enough). thereâs a roman catholic communion chant specific to midnight mass for all you latin enjoyers (me): in splendoribus sanctorum, ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te (in the brightness of the saints, from the womb, before the day star, i begot you)
itâs hot and dry this time of year in australia, so spending the whole of christmas day or boxing day at the beach or the pool is common. i imagine chase and his sister competing in made-up competitions â âi bet i can make the water splash taller with a cannonball!â â with their mum as a judge
âclassic catchesâ is a common one: basically, one person throws the cricket ball out across the pool, and the other takes the most spectacular jump/dive they can to try and catch it before landing in the water (thereâs a bluey episode about it). we see chase catch pens/case files/miscellaneous objects a few times throughout the show, so i think heâs honed the skill through games like this lol
bundaberg ginger beer is a classic aussie drink for the summer. itâs not alcoholic, and kind of a stronger ginger ale, made in queensland. virtually synonymous with summer. chase feels like an adult holding the heavy glass bottle, sipping it by the pool, trying not to screw up his face at the strong taste
his family have a christmas day lunch with. yes: prawns on the barbecue. but if i catch any of you calling them shrimp i will have harsh words. youâve been warned
i have no idea whether other places do this, but christmas meals in australia usually feature âchristmas crackersâ or âbonbonsâ (there is a bluey episode about these too). theyâre paper and kind of shaped like wrapped tootsie rolls, with trinkets, paper crowns, and little joke cards inside the middle. theyâre called crackers because you open them by pulling on either side with someone else, tug-of-war style, and when one side breaks, a little fire cracker lights and makes a small explosion with a crack sound. i think chase looooooves the stupid little crowns and wore them all day as a kid.
on boxing day every year, australia hosts a match of test cricket against another international cricket team. cricket is a slow sport (the boxing day test is like five days long), but visit any aussie household with an adult man present, and the boxing day test is absolutely on the tv. itâs one of those things that make most australians patriotic, even if for the rest of the year they couldnât care less. i donât think chase was a cricket kid, but he liked watching craig mcdermottâs fast-bowling against india in â85. gave him something to talk about with his mates when school started again.
that said, rowan absolutely had tickets to the big game almost every year, either as work gifts or consolation for his wife and kids when he couldnât (read: didnât want to) be there during the holiday celebrations. since itâs held at the melbourne cricket ground, chase probably attended a few. theyâre gruelling all-day matches, and not exactly entertaining for young kids, but chase probably looks back at the memories fondly: his mum slathering him with zinc and bug spray, constantly yelling at him to keep his hat on, promising to buy him an icecream at half-time
chase seemed pretty aware of his surroundings as a kid, at least in his home. he never failed to catch his mumâs solemn expressions while cleaning up wrapping paper and preparing platters of fruit and cold cuts, while retcon sister played happily with her presents. rowan never labelled his gifts âfrom Santaâ, not even when retcon sister was young enough not to know: their mum always did.
every year, chase was jealous of retcon sister about something. did she get a larger slice of panettone? did she get one more gift from rowan? did she get to be blissfully ignorant on christmas day, swimming and snacking and not having to worry about how many times mum had topped up her white wine, or how heavy her sighs became as the day got hotter? their competition wasnât always friendly â sometimes he got pissy, and spat cruel insults at her until she ran off to cry in private. neither of them ever told their mother
#me begging the fandom to australianise their chase writing#diversify the portfolio etc#rowan was probably there for christmas about 20% of the time#used his fame and work as an excuse#these are headcanons for a pretty young chase#before shit well and truly fell apart#thereâs still plenty to work with tho#god midnight mass is so FUCKING boring yâall#i also imagine some czech food integrated into their christmas eve/day meals but i cannot contribute any cultural knowledge on that front#robert chase#house md#malpractice md

DESI JAMES POTTER HEADCANON
Disclaimer: this is not era-typical. this is strictly subjective, this is my way of projecting my delusions and hoping I meet someone like James Potter some day!!
James craves parental and academic validation.
Now before I get jumped, lets all be real for one second. You are telling me James Potter is a desi first gen NRI and he does not crave validation? I refuse to believe that!! And it was not that Effie and Monty pressurized him... it was the opposite actually. they did not say a thing and my boy just felt he had to be the best because he has such nice parents who never ask for anything how can he ever live up to it??
He was the kind to lose sleep before important days. Right before the big matches and papers you would find James F. Potter roaming the halls of the school in the wee hours of morning, hands tightly clutching onto a mug that says, "You are ENOUGH" (his parents gifted him this in 3rd year when they noticed he was not doing well). The mug is obviously filled to the brim with either masala chai or cold coffee (the indian one).
2. He smelled like cloves
now this is something I have observed in my day to day life and feel like James too, would partake in. He would be the kind to use "spicy" toothpaste. simply because he thinks they last longer or smth. Effie also makes him homemade oil that has cloves (idk what they do I just associate the spice with him OKAY?) So basically when his partner(s) kiss him, they taste and smell clove. And it is not a comforting spice like cinnamon but imagine a whitewashed Regulus getting used to the sting of cloves and the horrible dant kanti-esque taste because the boyfriend uses them. There is a point when Regulus just starts carrying around a small bottle of clove oil or a box of clove and elaichi daana because James smells like cloves and Sirius like cardamom (FIGHT ME.)
3. Resident Problem Solver
Was he mischievous? Hell yes. Did he still make efforts to make sure everyone was okay? Duh.
James would be the kind to ask everyone about their day at the dinner table and be actually interested in what they have to say. He would notice when one of his friends were having a hard day and just drop a ladoo on their plate or ask them if they would like "non-spicy" chai. He would be the peacemaker. ALWAYS. He DID not like conflict. It hurt his soul to watch his friends fight or give each other a cold shoulder.
4. He LOVED being Desi.
he had the diaspora issue, obviously. But Effie and Monty came from the pre-partition India and tried to hold onto their country as much as they could. So James was super used to all the desi things. He had a head full of thick luscious curls because his mother massaged oil and gave him champi every week. When he moved to Hogwarts his hair suffered a little before the Summer when Sirius visited the Potters. Effie taught both of them how to apply oil onto each other's scalps and then it became their tradition at Hogwarts.
5. When Sirius returned bald.
there is a very popular HC that one year Walburga shaved Sirius' hair off because he was being disrespectful or smth. That year, James developed a variant of Indulekha x Parachute Coconut Oil (come on Desis i know you know what I mean) and made sure Sirius had his long hair back before Christmas. He would personally look after his diet, forcing amla tea down his throat or making sure he is eating 3-4 meals that consist of healthy things and not just meat as Sirius would otherwise have it.
Regulus fell in love with James around this time because he did smth he could not, protect Sirius. He went as far as daring Walburga to try to do it again, James would make sure Sirius grows his hair longer than ever.
ps. he was the one who came up with curl-care routine for the marauders and all of them had PJO cast like hair it was so cute jadfiqgfuiwgiuu okay
6. He did not practice any religion
James was not religious, he was spiritual. He did whatever his mum, who herself practiced two religions, told him to do. Both Effie and Monty believed in giving back to the society more than giving to some religious institute, so imagine a first year James rushing into Poppy's wing with an injured bird in his hand begging her to save it.
7. He was the people's princess.
fight the wall. everyone, even the slytherins, secretly LOVED him and the gulab jamuns he would give out on Diwali every year.
8. Enjoyer of classical music.
I have said it before, I will say it again. MY MANZ LISTENED TO GHULAM ALI. idc if he was muggle or what, he loved his music, language be damned.
he enjoyed urdu ghazals more than anything else tbh.
9. TRAINED CLASSICAL MUSICIAN
he was trained in sitar and he could sing as well. he was basically an in house singer. He learnt electric guitar in his 2nd year and then there was no looking back. If he would not have been a professional quidditch player he would have been a musician or a music teacher or smth.
10. he was a STEM student.
okay this is non-canon but comp sci major James? who also happens to enjoy botany? yes. just the best.
11. James who would slip into Urdu when he was overwhelmed, who loved when people played with his hair. James who wrote letters in Urdu or Hindi or whatever regional language his parents spoke and wrote.
12. James potter who hated how his eyes were brown, just brown, growing up. but then one day his mother told him it is what she loves the best about him.
13. James Potter with bitten lips, he does that whenever he is nervous.
14. James Potter who was born during sunrise, his mother believes he is the sun.
15. James who would lay his life for his friends. James who loved hugging Peter, James who committed crimes for Remus.
16. James who adored and admired Minerva so much that he would try everything to get her attention, except he was her favourite student after Lily and Remus (Sirius was her son, let us all be honest).
17. James who played Carnatic Music while studying.
18. James who would wear short kurtas. james who is obsessed with shawls.
19. James who carried a bag full of supplies his friends might need. Like imagine a pouch filled with hair elastics for Sirius and the girls, painkillers for Remus, fidget toys and stress ball for Peter, and cloves for Regulus.
20. James WHO FOUGHT THE AUTHORITY!!!
-- I WILL ADD MORE DW LET ME THINK--
ADD YOURS TOO BTW COME ON HELP A DEMIGIRL OUT

@gangstersgishâ I asked about @abluefoxinawildwood-deactivated because BlueFox plagiarized parts of my McLennon Christmas story for the 26th chapter of India, India and I wanted to know if someone rang BlueFoxâs bell for it causing them to delete in a panic. I have also received DMs and messages from other users on this website about how BlueFox tried to con and mistreat them during these past few months. This is a very fucked up and troubled individual who will happily engage in plagiarism!Â
For anyone who wants to read the 26th chapter to compare it to my story, I have saved it at these archival links:
https://web.archive.org/web/20230220142611/https://archiveofourown.org/works/43225314/chapters/113502727?view_adult=true
https://archive.ph/zh9eqÂ
This is my story that got plagiarized:Â https://archiveofourown.org/works/44122932
Basically BlueFox took the gift giving portion of my Christmas story and then repurposed it into the chapter.
This the report I put in to AO3 with the plagiarized text:
The 26th chapter of "India, India": https://archiveofourown.org/works/43225314/chapters/113502727 plagiarizes the gift giving sequence from my Xmas story, "upon the winter's dais of cheer": https://archiveofourown.org/works/44122932
Comparisons between the >text that plagiarized and >>my original text. These are just the ones that I noticed, you may find more if you compare the two:
> John pulled a little box out of his pocket. He was faintly blushing when he shoved the box at Paul. Wasnïżœïżœt wrapped or anything. Just a little white box. > âWhatâs this?â Paul asked, taking it. Not opening it yet. > âWell, I donât know,â snapped John. Only sounding half angry, maybe. Mostly maybe mortified. âOpen it and see.â
>>John realized that he had been worrying at it while staring at Paulâs face. >>John scoffed. âWho says it is?â And then he tensed, a flash of worry that Paul would take offense and walk out the door running through him. >>âJohn,â Paul asked softly. âIs that for me?â >>"Oh, just open it. Don't stand there with your mouth gaping." >>...Maybe the black ribbon had been too ominous.
> Paul looked at John for a long moment. Looked down at the box. Opened it up.
>>He weighed the thing in his hand, lifting it up and down as he nervously regarded the box...
I believe that these lines are plagiarized because they directly mimic the scenario that I wrote in my Secret Santa fanfic: - the John character is nervous about giving a present to the Paul character - John snaps at Paul to open the box - Paul hesitates before opening the box - in my fic, one of the notable details about the box is that it has a black ribbon; the plagiarizing author made the box white, which is the opposite color. I do not believe this was an accident but it also a common sign of plagiarism to be lazy when switching details around.
The plagiarized sequence ends with this:
It was a bracelet. One of them silver identity bracelets, the kind birds usually bought for blokes. Chain and all that. Paul frowned, touched it gingerly. It had his name on the plate. Four square letters: PAUL . He glanced at John, who seemed to be watching him closely, waiting for a reaction. Paul wasnât sure what to do with his face. No one had ever given him jewelry before."
the IRL Paul McCartney does have a silver ID bracelet with his name on it and it is common to write stories about the character Paul receiving the bracelet as a gift from other dadrock characters, but I believe that this, combined with the above details, proves that this portion of the chapter plagiarized my story.
Thank you for your time
screencaps
1)
2)
BlueFoxâs plagiarized text is on top, my text is on bottom.
They only plagiarized one scene but it was MY SCENE. And this is not the first time someone from my server has been targeted for this kind of theft!
I only have one question: who else has BlueFox plagiarized from? Because it canât only be me.

Oh yeah, you're right, 14 years of my life working with the public across cafes, restaurants, hotels, hostels, cinema, bookstores, theatres and box offices and I haven't encountered enough rude customers lmao.
Humans SHOULD do this job. Maybe you think people will suddenly be normal and chill and have no stupid questions because they aren't facing a human.
The difference is that I think retail workers should be far better compensated.
Digital tills aren't AI. They're just basic ass software. There's no need for an LLM or an art thief AI to be stuffed in there.
The people you would still have in store with a "differen role" are STILL retail workers and they will STILL be dealing with customers, some of them unhappy, and all of them asking questions from the human rather than the smart till. They'll need to refill the shelves and clean the store and write recommendations and make big spenders feel special.
Thinking in terms of scifi and dreaming up a society in which AI is capable of doing my job better than me, while we're all on some golden universal income, is detrimental to everyone.
AI bros are more than happy to sell the idea of AI as replacement to workers, even if they then have to turn around and completely lie about it and actually have their AI be a bunch of Indian workers!!!
Meanwhile, no government I know of is actually interested in giving me universal income that pays for all my rent, bills, and leaves me enough to enjoy myself besides. They're not willing to fully train me for a better, AI safe job.
And do you know what? Retail sucks because of shitty managers and insane store rules more than rude customers.
I spent years selling books and it was an awesome job. I loved my colleagues and I enjoyed making displays, writing reviews, reading lots of books ahead of publications so I could excitedly recommend. Nothing tickled me more than pitching the perfect recommendation for someone looking for their next reading club book or finding what would work for the christmas present of a young niece not reading enough.
And NOTHING beat the joy of that same guy, back in early January, looking for me across the shop so he could come and brightly thank me, because the graphic novel I sold him about a girl doing ice skatting besides school drama captivated his niece and she's now jumped into reading YA novels.
People remembering me months after and coming for ME because they trusted my recommendations. People gifting us boxes of chocolate for the staff to enjoy. People thanking us with tears in their eyes because we organised an event and they just got to shake hands with their absolute favourite author.
You think I'd want to give ANY of this to AI when AI 1/can't do it, and 2/I could just enjoy doing this with better hours and better pay if only the government can be curb stomped into caring for us?
Don't even come at me with the "not all retail--" angle. Lots of people enjoy lots of different things, and ALL retail workers should be better paid and have better rights, and automation (not AI necessarily) should always be a tool that helps instead of a tool that replaces, so long as society isn't ready for a mass replacement of a vital low-level education work force.

The festive season is a time of joy, celebration, and togetherness. Itâs the perfect occasion to adorn yourself with exquisite festive jewellery that not only enhances your outfit but also adds a touch of glamour to your overall look. Whether itâs Diwali, Christmas, or a wedding celebration, the right jewellery can make all the difference.
Why Festive Jewellery is a Must-Have
Festivals in India and across the globe are marked by traditions, colors, and celebrations. One common thread that ties them all is the need to look and feel your best. Hereâs why investing in festive jewellery is essential:
Complements Traditional Attire: Festive occasions call for ethnic outfits like sarees, lehengas, and kurtas. Matching jewellery completes the ensemble, adding a regal touch.
Boosts Confidence: The sparkle of fine jewellery can elevate your confidence, making you shine in every celebration.
Creates Memories: Jewellery often becomes a part of cherished memories. Gifting or wearing jewellery during festivals makes those moments even more special.
Popular Festive Jewellery Trends
The world of jewellery is ever-evolving, and staying updated with the latest trends can help you make a statement this festive season. Here are some trends to watch out for:
Temple Jewellery: Inspired by traditional South Indian designs, temple jewellery is perfect for adding a cultural touch to your festive look.
Polki and Kundan Sets: Known for their intricate craftsmanship, these timeless pieces are ideal for weddings and grand celebrations.
Minimalistic Jewellery: If you prefer a subtle yet elegant look, opt for lightweight gold or diamond jewellery that speaks volumes.
Colorful Gemstones: Vibrant gemstones like rubies, emeralds, and sapphires can add a pop of color to your outfit.
Statement Pieces: Bold chokers, oversized earrings, or chunky bracelets are perfect for making a style statement.
Tips for Choosing the Perfect Festive Jewellery
With so many options available, selecting the right festive jewellery can be overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you make the best choice:
Consider the Occasion: Choose jewellery that matches the theme and scale of the celebration. For example, go for elaborate sets for weddings and minimal pieces for smaller gatherings.
Match Your Outfit: Ensure that the jewellery complements your attire in terms of color, design, and style.
Invest in Versatility: Opt for pieces that can be styled in multiple ways to get the most out of your investment.
Quality Matters: Always prioritize quality over quantity. Authentic gold, silver, and diamond jewellery will stand the test of time.
Personalize Your Choice: Add a personal touch by selecting designs that resonate with your personality and style.
Caring for Your Festive Jewellery
Proper care can ensure that your festive jewellery retains its sparkle for years to come. Here are some tips:
Store Safely: Use individual pouches or boxes to prevent scratches and tangling.
Clean Regularly: Gently clean your jewellery with a soft cloth or a mild cleaning solution.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep your jewellery away from perfumes, lotions, and cleaning agents.
Professional Maintenance: Get your jewellery professionally cleaned and polished once a year.

Plum Cake Stories: Nostalgic Christmas Morning Delights | Tocco
December, the favourite time of the year, has arrived! For many around the world, this month is eagerly anticipated as it not only marks the close of another year but also offers a chance to unwind, reflect, and prepare for a fresh start. And, of course, it brings with it the joyous celebration of Christmas.
Christmas itself is a treasure trove of cherished memories. From beautifully adorned Christmas trees and hand-crafted cribs to glowing stars hanging from rooftops, the clinking of glasses filled with homemade wine, and the unmistakable aroma of freshly baked plum cake, every little detail adds to the magic of the season.
The rich, sweet aroma of plum cake filling the house is one of the most cherished childhood memories of Christmas. The preparations for baking begin weeks in advance, with fruits soaking in rum and careful planning for sharing these delightful cakes with loved ones. Walking through the lanes leading home, the scent of freshly baked plum cakes from neighbourhood kitchens was irresistible, tempting you to savor them all at once. Every bite was a reminder of the warmth of family gatherings, the joy of unwrapping gifts, and the twinkling glow of Christmas lights. Plum cake wasnât just a dessert; it was a tradition steeped in nostalgia, a reminder that home was the coziest, happiest place during the most magical time of the year.
At Tocco, the matured plum cakes from homechef Annie are rich in fruits that are soaked in rum, and nut free. The customers love the rich flavour of exotic mix of fruits, and that itâs super moist, almost melting in the mouth.Â
Each slice, a core memory of shared loveÂ
Christmas is a season that brings families together. One of the most heartwarming traditions of the day is returning home after a visit to church and the conclusion of the lent. The celebrations begin with a glass of homemade wine and the ceremonial cutting of a freshly baked plum cake, its slices lovingly shared among family members. Itâs a simple yet profound tradition that fills the heart with joy and the home with warmth.
During this season, itâs a common sight to carry a box of plum cake when visiting friends and family. Looking back, itâs easy to recall how the house would be filled with an assortment of plum cakes-some rich with nuts and fruits, others matured with rum-soaked fruits, and even those topped with a layer of sugar icing. Plum cakes, baked with love and rooted in the warmth of tradition, make for the perfect gift. Sneaking into the kitchen every now and then to nibble on these delicious cakes remains one of the fondest and most delightful memories of childhood.Â
Where it all began
The origin of plum cake can be traced back to medieval England, where it began as a humble fruitcake made with dried fruits and spices. In those times, "plum" was a term used to describe raisins or other dried fruits, as fresh plums were not typically used in the recipe. These early versions of the cake were prepared as a part of pre-Christmas traditions, particularly during "Plum Pudding Day" on the last Sunday before Advent. Families would soak dried fruits in spirits and mix them with rich spices, symbolizing prosperity and abundance, and the cake became a symbol of celebration and festivity.
Over time, the tradition of plum cake spread to different parts of the world, each culture adapting the recipe to its own tastes and local ingredients. The addition of rum or brandy-soaked fruits became popular in Europe, especially in countries like Germany and Austria, while in India, the cake gained a unique twist with local spices and flavors. Today, the plum cake is a cherished part of Christmas celebrations globally, loved for its dense, moist texture and the nostalgic essence it carries from its centuries-old origins.
Same, yet so differentÂ
While plum cake might seem like a straightforward dessert to bake, youâd be amazed by the sheer variety of ways it is prepared. Each household often boasts a unique recipe, passed down through generations or perfected with modern twists and improvisations. A classic favorite is the traditional Christmas plum cake, filled with rum or brandy-soaked fruits, crunchy nuts, and aromatic spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This rich and dense cake, often matured for weeks to develop its full flavor, remains an iconic holiday treat.
For those seeking lighter options, eggless plum cakes are a popular choice, replacing eggs with alternatives like yogurt, applesauce, or condensed milk to cater to vegetarians. Another variation is the sugar-glazed plum cake, adorned with a glossy icing for an added touch of sweetness. Regional takes on the recipe include spiced Indian plum cakes, flavored with cardamom and cloves, and Caribbean-inspired versions that incorporate tropical fruits like mangoes and pineapples. While some prefer their cakes loaded with a mix of dry fruits and nuts, others favor fruit-only versions. Additionally, while many opt for alcohol-free recipes, matured plum cakes, made by soaking fruits in rum or brandy for months to deepen their flavor, remain a favorite among traditionalists. The versatility of plum cakes ensures thereâs a variation to delight every palate during the festive season.
Matured Plum cakes
Matured plum cakes are a cherished variation of the classic plum cake, known for their deep, complex flavors developed over time. The hallmark of these cakes is the process of soaking dried fruitsâsuch as raisins, currants, apricots, and candied peelâin rum, brandy, or wine for weeks, sometimes even months, before baking. This extended soaking period infuses the fruits with the rich flavors of the spirits, making each bite burst with aromatic sweetness. The cake itself is typically made with warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, which complement the boozy fruit mixture.
What sets matured plum cakes apart is the post-baking aging process. Once baked, the cake is wrapped in parchment paper and stored in an airtight container, often brushed periodically with more alcohol to keep it moist and enhance its flavor. This maturing phase can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. The result is a dark, moist, and intensely flavorful cake that has become a beloved centerpiece of Christmas celebrations worldwide.
Plum Cake for Every Season: A Petition to Make It Timeless
Plum cake, with its rich blend of fruits, nuts, and spices, has long been associated with the festive joy of Christmas. However, its delightful flavor and comforting texture deserve to be enjoyed year-round. Why limit such a versatile and delicious cake to just one season? The deep, aromatic layers of a matured plum cake, with its hints of rum or brandy-soaked fruits, offer a taste that transcends any holiday. Whether enjoyed with a cup of tea on a cozy afternoon or shared with loved ones during family gatherings, plum cake can bring warmth and happiness throughout the year. Itâs time to make this timeless treat a regular fixture on our tables, not just during the festive season, but all year long.
At Tocco, Annieâs rum-soaked matured plum cakes have become a massive hit. When she first introduced these cakes last Christmas, they quickly became a favorite among many, and due to popular demand, they are now a permanent item on the menu. Annie bakes these cakes in her home kitchen, carefully planning by soaking the fruits in rum well in advance to ensure the perfect flavor. Thanks to this thoughtful preparation, the cakes are always available for customers who wish to indulge.
Plum cakes are the perfect gift for any occasion, and by making them available year-round, they no longer have to be limited to the Christmas season.
Memories baked in a cake
Every slice of a matured plum cake brings back memories of childhood, with its rich flavors and comforting warmth. Itâs a timeless treat that brings people together, whether shared with family or gifted to friends. Each bite is more than just cake-itâs a moment to enjoy and remember. A plum cake is not only the perfect gift but also a beautiful way to celebrate and create new memories, making it a special part of any occasion.

As Reddy completed his 50, he brought out the famous Pushpa movie move to mark his maiden half-century for India in Tests. After completing his ton, he brought out the Sallar gesture. As Reddy completed his century, the cameras panned to his emotional father, Mutyala Reddy, who was there with Nitishâs mother and sister, sitting in a regular stand among the fans. âIt is an unbelievable feeling,â Mutyala Reddy said after the completion of his sonâs century. âCanât express it. Following that, he has looked composed, creating a perfect blend between a solid defensive technique and adventurous stroke-making, like reverse-ramping Scott Boland against the pink ball. However, he got out for three consecutive 42s â in the tour game in Canberra and the Adelaide Test â followed by a 16-run knock at the Gabba. Although there shouldnât have been question marks about his place in the XI, there were many when India decided to play two spinners in the Boxing Day Test. Would it be Shubman Gill or Reddy who would be dropped from the XI? That was the question in the build-up to the MCG Test. Gill was dropped, and the pressure was on Reddy and Washington Sundar to deliver. With the ball, neither bowled much to make an impact. But with the bat, the duo stitched together a 127-run partnership â the highest for the eighth wicket at the MCG by an Indian pair â to steady the ship for the visitors and help them avoid the follow-on. The two youngsters put on a show, whacking and showing resistance when required, against both old and new balls. However, the show-stealer was Reddy. When Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah got out, Reddy was on 99. Mohammed Siraj had to face three deliveries from Pat Cummins. Siraj possibly fetched the loudest roar from the MCG when he defended the last ball of the over to bring Reddy back on strike before the all-rounder lifted Boland over the mid-on fielder to complete his century. In all, Reddy had a control percentage of 86 during his innings, where he has faced 176 deliveries so far. He is Indiaâs highest-run scorer in the ongoing BGT, scoring 284 runs at a staggering average of 71 â also the highest of the series. Nitish Kumar Reddy with his celebration after his maiden Test ton at the MCG alongside Washington Sundar (PC: Debasis Sen) Before the start of the series, Reddy had told RevSportz, âI am ready to give my 100, 110 per cent for the Indian team. The BCCI has chosen me, and I have to respond accordingly. As an all-rounder, I have both skill sets, and I want to give my 110 per cent, whichever way I can help them. I can help in fielding as well.
If Iâm not playing, I can be the 12th man and carry drinks with all my heart. I can help by taking good catches. If Iâm playing, I will be trying to give my maximum effort. Itâs a crucial Test series for India. It will be very, very crucial for me as well.â And boy, the 21-year-old has delivered 110 per cent for the team. When rain stopped play at the end of Day 3, the entire team, including his idol Virat Kohli, stood up near the boundary rope and welcomed Indiaâs hero for the day with open arms. After a tense couple of days, Reddy has ensured the smiles are back in the dressing room. India finished at 358/9 at the end of Day 3. While the job is not yet done with two more days of play left, Reddyâs knock and his partnership with Sundar have given India the belief that itâs never over until it is.
