Music: Because I don’t trust spotify to know exactly everything I listen to and have been using last.fm for 12 years now, you get an end of year list based on my listening habits over there. A few funny standouts. Yes, that is the Severance theme as my #6 most listened to song. I tend to eat up the music of a show/movie I love and that was probably my favorite show this year. And yes, I was not immune to Bruno at the start of the year as you can clearly see by it being song #5.
The rest is just a mish-mash of indie (Mitski, Father John Misty, Tegan and Sara, Arcade Fire, Ani DiFranco), R&B (SZA, Amber Mark, Syd) weepy ballads (Conan Gray), Pop (Taylor Swift) and everyone’s favorite emos (MCR) who decided to grace us with a new song for the first time in a long time.
Some anomalies: I got to go to my first concert since covid shut everything down, which was The Chicks and therefore the reason they are among my most listened to artists this year. The Smashing Pumpkins, eh ... I went thru a phase where I tried collecting all their relaxing songs into a playlist.
A few of my favorite non-musical things of 2022:
Movies: Puss in Boots 2 (Yes, you read that right), The Bob’s Burgers Movie, That second Doctor Strange film (although, I’ve never actually seen the first and I just liked it bc it was very Sam Raimi-fied), and then seeing Spirited Away and The Muppet Christmas Carol in theaters. Truth be told, I don’t watch a whole lot of new movies, just rewatch comfort ones.
TV: That Station Eleven miniseries, Severance, Andor, Abbott Elementary, Our Flag Means Death, What We Do In The Shadows, the first s3 episode of The Owl House bc it was really, really good. High School (which is on freevee so I’m sure none of you have ever heard of it and that’s a shame bc it’s a really good show!!). The ending of Derry Girls was sad, but good. I honestly didn’t love Kenobi, but I will give it attention in this list for renewing my Obidala love with the line “I wish I could say that I was.” And finally my latest obsession Hunter x Hunter, which didn’t come out this year, but I’m counting it bc it’s new to me and am very invested in my new found family.
Books: The Legendborn Series by Tracy Deonn, The Scythe Trilogy by Neal Shusterman and The Carry On Series by Rainbow Rowell were the standouts for me.

Ok yall, i've seen a lot of misinformation on who was the first *insert superhero here* so here are some common superheroes who passed on their mantle and in what order each character was this hero. This post is meant to be informative.
This post has Batgirl, Robin, Flamebird, and Flash.
BATGIRL
- Bette Kane was Batgirl for seven years (1961-1967) and she was THE original batgirl. (Yup! Barbara was not the first!)
- Barbara Gordon was the most iconic Batgirl and most depictions of Batgirl in animation/live action are her. She was Batgirl from 1967-1988. (There are most recent depictions of her as batgirl but she was officially retired by DC editorial in 1988)
- Helena Bertinelli was Batgirl during the No Man's Land arc which ran through most of 1999. It happened for less than one year so if you don't want to count her that's fine. This list is more for educational purposes.
- Cassandra Cain was Batgirl right after Helena Bertinelli near the end of No Man's Land in 1999. She stopped being Batgirl in 2009 and came back in late 2010 with her new alias Black Bat.
- Stephanie Brown was Batgirl from 2009 to 2011 when DC launched the New52 timeline where she was reverted back to Spoiler.
- Tiffany Fox was Batgirl in 2014 during the league of Batgirls arc.
ROBIN
- Dick Grayson was the original Robin, his first appearance was in 1940 and his last appearance as Robin was in 1984, he was Robin for 44 years.
- Lance Bruner was Robin during a 1969 run of The Brave And The Bold. He died as Robin.
- Jason Todd his first appearance as Robin was in 1983 and he officially took over the Robin mantle in 1984. He died in 1988, being Robin for only four years.
- Carrie Kelley was Robin in 1986 during a Batman comic run. She later adopted the Catgirl mantle. (Alternate universe)
- Tim Drake became Robin after Jason died, his first appearance was in 1989. He became Red Robin in 2009 but got put back into the Robin mantle in 2019, he currently fills in as Robin when Damian is out of town.
- Stephanie Brown was Robin for three months (71 days) in 2004. She was only in a few issues and got nerfed like right after.
- Damian Wayne has been Robin since 2009, and is currently holding the Robin Mantle.
FLAMEBIRD
- Jimmy Olsen was Flamebird Pre-crisis
- Bette Kane was Flamebird post-crisis
- Ak-Var was Flamebird for a little bit
- a Kryptonian hero was also called Flamebird
- Kara Zor-El was Flamebird for a tiny bit
- Lois Lane used the Flamebird alias once
(aka Bette Kane was the one to use the Flamebird alias the most but the alias itself is such a small role that i cant even tell you dates or anything...)
THE FLASH
- Jay Garrick is the original Flash, his first appearance was in 1940. (Timelines are always messed up when referring to Flash so I'm only gonna out their first appearance.)
- Barry Allen was Flash after Jay Garrick, his first appearance was in 1956
- Wally West was originally Kid Flash, but became The Flash after some timeline shenanigans with Barry. His first appearance was in 1960
- Ivana Christina Molotova was experimented on and gained speed powers. She was Lady Flash for a while (1987) but changed her alias shortly before her death.
- John Fox is a Flash from the future (27th century) that went back in time to ask Jay Garrick for help. His appearance was in 1990
- Jesse Quick was The Flash after Wally West was integrated with the speed force. She had the powers of Liberty Belle as well as a connection to the speed force. Her first appearance was in 1992
- Bart Allen was first Impulse and then Kid Flash, he became The Flash after Wally West's disappearance. His first appearance was 1994 (as Impulse)
- Avery Ho became The Flash during DC's Rebirth era. She joined the Justice League Of China and was one of the best Flashes with Bart Allen and Wally West. Her first appearance was in 2016.
__________
This is all for now, let me know if theres a superhero alias you want me to do <3

Well I hope your year has been made!
Here's 1k from the final chapter, because I'm not even trying to count that hahaha.
---
“Well, you’re not getting anywhere,” Christopher observes.
“Chris,” Eddie shakes his head.
“I mean, he’s got a point,” Buck sighs. He turns his eyes to the list and begins to read them. “These are…”
“Perfect?” Chris responds.
Buck clears his throat and lists them off.
“Christina,” he reads.
“Seriously?” Eddie asks his son.
“After her favorite member of the family!” Chris insists. “It’s perfect!”
Buck snorts.
Eddie sighs.
“I don’t think I’ll choose that, but thanks for the suggestion, bud,” Buck says.
“Your funeral,” Chris shrugs.
Buck keeps reading.
“Zelda.”
“Like the video game character?” Eddie asks.
“It’s a nice name!” Chris argues.
“It’s not… Terrible,” Buck replies diplomatically. He reads the next one. “Taylor… Chris, you remember my ex-girlfriend Taylor, right?”
“I sure do,” Eddie grumbles.
“Yeah, but Taylor Swift is really popular right now, so you can’t go wrong,” Chris says.
“You can,” Eddie says. “You can go wrong. Please don’t name that sweet little girl after Taylor Kelly.”
“I definitely won’t,” Buck agrees. He reads the last name on the sheet. “Tetra? What is that from?”
“Sounds like a medication,” Eddie says.
“Like Osteolaemus tetraspis,” Chris says. “A dwarf crocodile.”
“Oh god,” Eddie sighs.
“That’s actually kind of the best one,” Buck admits.
“Right?” Chris grins.
“Veto!” Eddie announces. “I veto it!”
“What?” Chris demands. “That sucks.”
“Oh, you can veto my kid’s name, huh?” Buck smirks. “I thought you weren’t helping.”
“One future step-father veto allowed per ridiculous name list,” Eddie says.
Buck is certain his face goes bright red.
“Okay,” he says. “Consider it vetoed.”
Chris sighs. “You guys are boring.”
▪️▪️▪️
In the end, it’s Bobby and Athena who are most helpful. Just like they had been when he was trying to find a home for Dove to begin with. He goes over to their newly built home one afternoon to talk. Dove stays with Eddie and Chris.
“How did you choose your kids’ names?” Buck asks. “Other than Bobby Jr., I guess. I’m not naming her Buck Jr.”
“Well, thank goodness for that,” Athena chuckles.
“First of all, Marcy named him after me,” Bobby says. “I was at a five alarm fire for several hours. By the time I got to the hospital, he had a name.”
“Harry’s out, too, then. We named him after Michael’s father, who passed,” Athena explains.
“O-okay,” Buck nods. “What about the girls?”
“There was no real special significance behind Brooke,” Bobby explains. “We were looking through a book of names. And we both just liked it. To me, it sounded like a nice, peaceful summer day. Nature and streams and everything. Just… Tranquil. I wanted that for her.”
Buck smiles. He likes the sound of that.
“It was similar for May actually,” Athena says. “May was always my favorite month, growing up in Florida. Warm, with long, sunny days. But before the summer swelter. I thought, what more beautiful thing to name my daughter after than the brightest, most beautiful day?”
“Those are both great,” Buck says. “I really like that.”
“We were both thinking of what we envisioned for our daughters,” Bobby says. “But you already know yours. Maybe choose something based on who she already is?”
Dove already is the brightest, most beautiful day.
Buck nods. “I think I can do that.”
v.
Buck brings the matter to Dove. He thinks it’s only fair. It’s her name.
It’s late March. Their hearing is in six weeks. Plenty of time to get the paperwork together to submit the moment she’s adopted. If they can pick.
He takes her to Griffith Park. Makes a picnic for just the two of them. They find a spot in the Mineral Wells area. It’s a surprisingly quiet day. It feels like they have a large grassy area to themselves.
Dove is wearing overalls and a strawberry-print shirt. He thinks they need to go shopping again soon. She’s already gotten taller. At least he can save her outgrown things for Jee.
“Okay, kiddo,” he says, when they finish kicking a soccer ball back and forth and sit down to eat. “I want to talk about your name.”
“My name,” she repeats.
“Do you still want me to pick a new one for you?”
She nods. “Yes. I still want a name from you.”
“I think I have an idea of how you and I can pick together,” Buck says.
She twists her mouth, curious but apprehensive. He knows she wants it to be his choice. But he wants it to have meaning to her, too.
“Can we try?” He asks.
“Okay,” she nods.
“I was thinking we could pick a name that represents all the best things about you,” he says. “Because you’re such a special, amazing little girl. I want your name to say that.”
She smiles. She’s missing one of her canine teeth right now. It’s criminally cute.
 “Okay.”
“So, how about this?” Buck says. “Why don’t you tell me some of the things that you think are the best things about you?”
She furrows her brows. “I don’t know…”
“Come on,” Buck says. “I bet you can name a few.”
“Isn’t that rude?” She asks. “At school Mrs. Weller said it’s rude to brag.”
“Mm, it’s not really bragging,” Buck says. “But, if it was… It’s okay. Because I’m your dad and I like bragging about you.”
“Okay,” she says. But Buck can tell she doesn’t quite believe it.
“Alright, how about I start?”
She shrugs. “Sure.”
“One of my favorite things about you, is that you’re curious,” he says. “You like to learn and try new things. I think that’s super cool.”
She blushes. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. It’s true. Your turn. What do you like about you?”
“Um…” She trails off. “I guess… I’m nice?”
“You are nice,” Buck agrees. “What else?”
“I got good at swimming really fast,” she says.
“You did,” Buck agrees. “You’re like a little fish.”
“No!” She shakes her head. “I’m like Chomp! Chomp can swim.”
Damn Eddie and his crocodile veto.

Air's Bizarre Christmas Rom-Com Reclist
I am a fan of Romance Media, but even more importantly, a fan of mediocre art. As such, I have watched a lot of christmas romcoms. I have in fact watched Too Many christmas romcoms. While freelancing between jobs, I would put them on in the background as mindless noise to keep me company while writing copy.
This means that I am uniquely positioned to create a rec list of christmas rom-coms that meet a very specific set of criteria:
Is the movie interesting enough to make me actually Watch it instead of half-listening to it in the background?
Are elements of the plot bizarre enough to make me yell "WHAT" at the screen?
Would I rewatch the movie in the company of friends?
Any movie that fulfills all three of these criteria is eligible to join those privileged few, the elite ranks of My Christmas Rom-Com Rec List
A Chance for Christmas (2021)
Synopsis: "Influencer Christina Chance gets the opportunity of a lifetime: a lucrative sponsorship from the brand of her dreams. However, she soon discovers she's stuck in a time warp where the same Christmas Eve repeats itself over and over again." Commentary: This is a Tubi original, and it lives up to all the mess that status bestows. That established, my favorite parts of this movie are that the main character and love interest have the same kind of obsessive, perfection-driven marketing brain poison that lead them to try to min-max a time loop and learn zero lessons for the vast majority of the movie. There's a kind of frenetic, self-absorbed energy to each of the characters that's fascinating to watch. At one point the main character attacks a man dressed like Santa in an act of misdirected rage, and the love interest holds her concerned family back while yelling "SHE NEEDS THIS LET HER GO SHE NEEDS THIS". Also, the kids are actual characters with inner lives instead of props! There are structural issues with the movie, and in my perfect world, the protagonist would quit her influencer job, but overall, I enjoyed it.
A Christmas Movie Christmas (2019)
Synopsis: "A Christmas movie fanatic and her cynical sister wake up to find they are now the stars of a Christmas movie." Commentary: I have a soft place in my heart for scripts written by actors who have been trapped in this Christmas purgatory for years. There's a certain sensitivity to The Way Words Work that is nonexistent in most of these films. Especially since this industry relies on Never Retaking Any Line Read Ever because these movies are basically made on an assembly line. That is to say, this movie is a love letter and a list of grievances wrapped together in a metatextual bow. All of its jabs at the genre feel like they come from a place of familiarity rather than scorn, and the actors are obviously having fun. Line deliveries and elements of blocking feel like they have actual character work put into them, and one of the love interests feels like a Christmas Homunculi with no understanding that a world other than snowglobes and sugar cookies exists. But on purpose this time! If he encountered a turtle flipped on its back, he'd start feeding it christmas cookies, and the movie is Very Aware of This. It's fun.
Baby It's Cold Inside (2021)
Synopsis: "When a travel agent up for a promotion is directed to forget her tropical vacation and instead visit the world-famous Ice Hotel, she discovers that her sacrifices are more than compensated." Commentary: I'll be honest. This one is mostly here because the editing choices made me feel like I was losing my mind. I ended up dragging my roommate down to the living room at multiple points so that they could witness the same thing I was seeing. The jarring cuts, dropped story beats, and lines that lead nowhere make for an unforgettable viewing experience... except for the part where I have forgotten literally every other element of the movie. Except for the inexplicably evil love rival who becomes niceys at the end. I like her. Girlboss. This isn't even the only Hallmark movie that was set at and filmed at Hôtel de Glace in 2021. Truly the most Hallmark movie on this list.
Christmas Perfection (2018)
Synopsis: "Darcy's been striving for the perfect Christmas since childhood; thanks to a magical figurine her dream finally comes true." Commentary: I have already written up my thoughts on Christmas Perfection in EXTENSIVE detail here. Needless to say, I watch it every year. What a fascinating text. What an odd timeloop. It should have been gay.
Snowmance (2017)
Synopsis: "Each year Sarah builds her "Snow Beau" snowman with her best friend Nick. After another breakup, she begins to wonder if she'll ever find her own true love. A little Christmas magic brings her Snow Beau to life." Commentary: I cannot believe the snowman actually came to life. The snowman came to life and he's not even the primary love interest. Nick sucks in a normal possessive childhood friend love interest way, fuck Nick, everyone hates Nick, sure, but THE SNOWMAN CAME TO LIFE? THE SNOWMAN CAME TO LIFE AND HE TRIES TO SELL THE PROTAGONIST'S HOUSE!!!!! SHE LIVES THERE!!!!! This movie made me scream out loud multiple times. It is not good. Please watch it.
Timeless Love (2019)
Synopsis: "Megan wakes up from a coma in a hospital. The husband and 2 kids she just dreamed about aren't real. At her first job interview, she meets Thomas from her dream - or was it a vision years into the future?" Commentary: Listen to me. Listen. The establishing scenes of this movie are played completely straight. For the first chunk of the movie, it feels like this is going to be a dramatic, serious movie in a way that Hallmark Christmas Romcoms fundamentally are not, which makes it EVEN WEIRDER when it suddenly pivots into your classic nonsense. It entrances me. Who let this happen? Why is the medical professional who is assigned to help Megan with the trauma of losing her coma-construct family and recover from being in a literal coma cartoonishly evil? Why was the information Megan obtained from the coma dream accurate to real life? Why is she suddenly okay with losing her coma children as soon as she found the real-world version of her coma-husband? What a fascinating text. I have no clue what to do with it. But maybe you do. I'm folding it into your hands. Whatever happens next is your decision

Today we are travelling to the New World with the Kalmar Nyckel. A beautiful pinas with an eye-catching design and super cute ship's cats
Tumblr media
Kalmar Nyckel, 2014
Her history here:
The original Kalmar Nyckel was one of the great ships of the American colonial era. Built in Amsterdam in 1627, Kalmar Nyckel was an ordinary Dutch Pinnace (Pinas) of about 300 tons and 100 feet on deck, just one of a couple thousand similar small warships and gun-armed merchantmen built by the Dutch in this period.
In 1629, she was purchased by the Swedish Skeppskompaniet (Ship Company) with tax revenue from the strategic harbor town of Kalmar, on Sweden’s southeast coast, and renamed Kalmar Nyckel (“Key of Kalmar”). When not sailing on colonial voyages for the New Sweden Company, she served the Swedish Navy as an auxiliary warship until 1651. She was part of Gustav II Adolf’s famous invasion fleet at Peenemünde on the German coast of Pomerania in 1630, which marked Sweden’s entry into the Thirty Years’ War (1618-48).
Swedish Admiralty records from 1634 list her as carrying a crew of 55 men and 12 six-pounder cannon – probably typical of her wartime strength. Toward the end of her career, she saw bloody action in Torstenson’s War against the Danes in 1645 and transported Swedish diplomats across the Baltic during the negotiations that led to the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. Kalmar Nyckel is best remembered today as a colonial ship for the New Sweden Company. She launched the colony of New Sweden in 1638 as Governor Peter Minuit’s flagship, bringing the colonists who established the first permanent European settlement in the Delaware Valley – little Fort Christina, which would grow to become the city of Wilmington, Delaware.
An exceptional ship with an extraordinary record of endurance, Kalmar Nyckel would make eight successful crossings of the Atlantic (four roundtrips between Gothenburg and Fort Christina from 1637 to 1644) more than any documented colonial ship of the era. Kalmar Nyckel was decommissioned from the Swedish Navy on June 19, 1651, by order of Queen Christina herself, and sold to a Dutch merchant living in Stockholm, Cornelis Roelofsen. An inspection by the Swedish Admiralty had determined that her aging condition would make her unsuitable for a fifth voyage across the Atlantic for the New Sweden Company.
Her new owner, Roelofsen had Kalmar Nyckel – now called by her Dutch name, Kalmar Sleutel (“Sleutel” is Dutch for “Nyckel,” which both mean “Key” in English) refitted and up-gunned to 24 six-pounder cannons. She was anchored in Amsterdam harbor by April 22, 1652, just in time to be leased as a naval escort by the Dutch Navies, which were looking to acquire 150 warships in preparation for a looming war against the English. Kalmar Sleutel (Nyckel) soon joined 15 ships of the escort squadron that was guarding the Dutch herring fleet in the North Sea off the east coast of Scotland. On July 22, 1652, she would be sunk in the bloody Battle of Buchan Ness, gallantly defending the fishing fleet against a fleet of 66 English ships in the first engagement of what would be called the First Anglo-Dutch War (1652-1654).

The Be My Valentine Challenge 2024
An event from @timecanalwayshealyou
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
The Be My Valentine Challenge is a challenge for writers, artists, and just any kind of creator, from the first of February to the 14th!
The idea is to create thirteen smaller, lead-up pieces based on the prompts; for example, ficlets/drabbles/one-shots, couplets, small artworks, individual gifs, et. cetera - and finish the challenge with a larger work; a fic, a full poem, a gifset, a big artwork, whatever sparks for you!
They can be a series or separate, and you're free to change mediums or fandoms for different days. If you'd rather create fourteen small works, or all large ones, or a combination of both, that's completely up to you! Prompts can be used after the event, combined, just do whatever! Only "properly" used prompts will be reblogged to this page, however.
The catch; it's all romance prompts, in the spirit of Valentine's Day and because everyone on this site is single and lonely.
Each day has a quote from an iconic or relevant romance film (The Notebook, Red, White and Royal Blue, The Fault In Our Stars, Pride And Prejudice, etc.), an iconic love song, and a romantic cliché, act, or item.
This account will be reblogging a few works (art, drabbles, ficposts, etc.) from the event tag (bemyvalentine2024) each day. Full tagging rules, the transcribed prompt list, and other event details are under the cut. If you're unsure about anything, send in an ask! Happy Creating!
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
Tumblr media
There will be an ao3 collection open from the first of February to the fourteenth for submission. Artworks, gifsets, etc. posted to tumblr should be tagged appropriately to be seen as part of the event.
The official spotify playlist for the event can be found here.
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
Anyone who completes this event is considered a Valentine, and anyone who participates is a Lover. At the end of the event, a form will be put out, so if you wish to be tagged in a masterpost, keep an eye out! I won't be fact-checking, it's an honour system, so please be honest.
There will be completion and participation badges, too! They're in the works as we speak!
💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌 💌
Tagging System:
event tag - #bemyvalentine2024
prompt tag - #bemyvalentineno1, #bemyvalentineno2, etc.
(Or #bemyvalentinealt1, #bemyvalentinealt2, if you use alt promtps)
the theme or specific prompt/s you chose - #love poems, #quote, etc.
fandom or oc - #stranger things, #original content, etc.
any trigger warnings/nsfw tags if needed
and then your own tags!
Only works tagged correctly will be reblogged to this page, so please take note!

pick a pile: "Yes or No?"
take a breath and think about a question of any type; then choose the photo/number that calls you the most to read your answer.
don’t take the reading too seriously. only take what resonates with you and leave the rest. if you're not called by any pile, let this reading slid as it may not hold messages for you. if you're called by more than one, there may be messages in each of those piles. remember that is a general reading and some things may not resonate with you. energies can change and readings are based on present ones (as you read); you're always in charge of your life.

pile 1
answer: more of a maybe. there is hope for it to become a yes but there's probably something you need to get over/heal and ground yourself about. if it's some situation you need to face and that it makes you nervous/anxious or sth, try to take a breath first and think it through before making a decision. maybe write down lists of pros/cons, if applies. just remember you can take your time, you don't have to answer anyone immediately.

pile 2
answer: yes. and I think you should be hyped as well. I think it is not too clear atm, you may be confused, therefore you're called to learn something and keep your mind in check (you may tend to overthink, maybe self sabotage by telling yourself you won't make it: don't do this. be hopeful and try and hype yourself: you're there for you as your best friend, never forget). it may relate to love for someone but I think it's school/career for many. and self love for all, in general.
song: a thousand years | christina perri

pile 3
answer: another maybe. try to think about your feelings: does this thing (whatever it is) still bring you happiness? does it still give you joy? or you are just tired and doing it out of habit? if it's something you're thinking about putting an end to (job, relationship...), you probably should at least meditate it well. you deserve to think about your own happiness too. if you only wake up to cry again... try and find your way out of it. and ask for help or support, even just an outside pov, if you need.
song: comfortable | h.e.r.
- ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ -
pile 4
answer: yes. a delicate one though. similar to pile 2, you may tend to self sabotage but if you don't get in your way, you can do it. things change. grow into your best self, don't be scared about what others may do or think. be your own person, follow your own passion, speak up when you need. find your balance. be your own comfort zone when you have to get out of your comfort zone. believe in yourself, nurture your fears as they're part of you. accept yourself for who you are deep down.
song: put your head on my shoulder | paul anka
- ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ -
pile 5
answer: "uuuh yeeess-ah~" (it's the ending part of a song ig lol) I think you are overcoming something at the moment. it feels also that the pieces of the puzzle are sticking/coming together and you're having a better picture of it all. You're being bolder, you're trying to stop stressing out, you're talking, and... if you're asking about love, yes, your person may be on their way to you. stay grounded and chill (patience!!).
song: yours to keep | jordan mackampa
- ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ - ’ -
pile 6
answer: no. I think there's something you're not seeing or not considering atm, so you need to understand and see this thing from a different perspective too. There's something inside that needs to be changed, maybe a mental pattern, or something that needs to be accepted but you're not open to do that now. your answer may turn into a yes (where still applicable ofc) but first, you need to analyze things well. (you may be getting downloads or signs to guide you in your dreams or daily life btw).
song: the 7th sense | ntc, ntc u

Broken heart/Broken mind
Chapter Eighty-five
(Human AU)
Sophie and Keefe met in the children's hospital when they were little. Because of how long they were confined to the four walls of the hospital, they became very close during their stay.
As the years pass, they wind up being in the same classroom together due to their physical conditions. This makes their bond deepen.
But are they able to handle when life gets tough, throwing problems and complications their way
Sophie leaned her head onto Keefe's shoulder. They were at the drive-in theater. She had another piece of popcorn. By the end of the film, both of them were in tears. The dog had died.
After they collected themselves, Sophie checked to make sure her mascara wasn't running. They were heading to dinner afterward.
Arriving at the restaurant, they were taken to their reservated table. They were sitting near an old couple. The old couple kept giving them soft looks and crinkly smiles.
Keefe leaned a little closer to her. He kissed her on the lips, pulling her close. When they separated, she rested her head against him.
"I love you," he murmured.
"I love you, too." Sophie wrapped her arms around him.
When their food came, they separated to eat. Still, she could still see him giving her fond looks. He... almost looked nervous.
"Something wrong?" She asked.
He shook his head. "I'm fine. Want dessert?"
"Splurging tonight, eh?" She laughed. "Yes, I would."
They finished off the last of their food before leaving. Instead of heading back to campus, Keefe drove them to the park. The sun was starting to set over the horizon.
They walked out by the pond, skipping stones. Sophie laughed when one of the stones plunked down so fast that it ended up splashing the both of them.
Keefe wrapped his arms around her waste from behind. He closed his eyes and nuzzled her neck, causing her to giggle. He swayed them back and forth.
Once done by the lake, he took her by the hand and led her under a cherry blossom tree. Sophie allowed him to tilt her chin up and lean in close. She ran her hands through his hair as the kiss deepened. She felt the smile on his lips against hers. One hand traveled down the small of her back.
He pulled away. "Sophie," he started. "I love you. So much."
She giggled. "I love you too, Keefe."
He shook his head. "No, I mean, I've known you almost my entire life. I've had a crush on you since sixth grade. You got me through the worst parts of my life. I want to be with you forever. I never want to leave your side. So, if you'd have me..."
Sophie gasped. Keefe knelt down on one knee. He pulled a box out from his pocket. He opened it to reveal a beautiful ring with a shiny stone on it. He held out the box as an offering, taking her hand with his other.
"Sophie Elizabeth Foster," the wait felt like an eternity for him to say the words, "May I have the honor of calling you my wife? Will you marry me?"
Sophie felt something of a mixture of a gasp and a sob crawl up her throat. It sounded like a dying animal.
She finally managed to get out the word, "Yes!"
She broke down into joyous tears. Keefe slipped the ring onto her finger. He got up off the ground and kissed her again. He rested his forehead on hers. She could see the tears in his eyes. She buried her nose in her neck, letting him sway them under the tree.

☾ Enhypen: Future Spouse's as songs
Notes:
I was going through my requests and deleting repeats of ones that are on the wips list, and I accidently deleted the original request! So this one is for you anon!
I'm really exposing my taste in music here. Embarrassing, lmao
*Disclaimer: just for fun!*
Jungwon's - War of Hearts - Ruelle
"Come to me in the night hours, I will wait for you...I know that I'd die without you. I can't help but be wrong in the dark cause I'm overcome with war of hearts"
They could end up having a lot of issues going on in the relationship. They both could feel like they aren't sure where they ultimately want this to go. It could come to a fork in the road at some point. A pros and cons list might be made. Generally, if you have to make a pros and cons list, it's better to end things, but I don't know. We will see what happens.
Jake's - Training Wheels - Melanie Martinez
"Letting go, letting go, telling you things you already. I explode, I explode, asking you where you want us to go"
So because I suspect this is his Twin flame (as suggested in other readings I've done for him), they could end up fighting a whole hell of a lot. They both have a lot of things to work on. More internal work is needed.
Jay's - Love Somebody Else - George Ezra
"Love somebody else cause I'm giving up on myself. And I bought an old Mercedes and drove it down the motorway. And on every inch of that car, babe, I spray-painted your name. I took a lighter from my pocket, set it up in flames... is there anybody out there in the silence? Give me a sign let me know that you're there."
Why are they all so angsty? Lmao, anyway, again another rough patch. Could be a little bit over dramatic, but not completely sure. Someone could be.
Heeseung's - You Were Beautiful - Day6
(Looked up the English Lyrics) "Every time I got out of bed to (Oh, no). Start my days when I would hear you (Oh-oh-oh). And with a tired yawn, you'd tell me that you loved me, I'll be fine. And that's what got me through the day, alright"
So, this tells me he really is going to rely on this person just to get through some days. Sometimes you just need someone. Sometimes just a simple I love you is enough to keep going and I feel like that's the kind of person he needs.
Seonwoo's - Cure - The Rose
"Let the rain fall and wash away. To find a way to heal the world, without a single word, recover us"
They have a very healing energy towards one another. They might end up healing each other's childhood wounds. They might be really positive influences on one another.
Ni-ki's - A Thousand Years - Christina Perri
"Time stands still, beauty in all she is. I will be brave, I will not let anything take away what's standing in front of me"
This man is so into who ever his future spouse is! I absolutely love it! He's willing to go to the ends of the earth for this person and its so adorable. He's a little dude who wants a little dude(tte). Wholesome wholesome wholesome. They are both down bad for each other.
Sunghoon's - Who Makes you Feel - Dido
"Who touches and holds you quite like I do? Who makes you feel the way that I make you feel? Who loves you and knows you the way I do?"
His have been a little much! This is the PG version because this song...his person might be a Scorpio or have it in their big 3. Anyway, they feel like they know how this person is. They know each other like the back of their hand.

It's nomination time: Who is the Best Almost Companion
Who would you like to have seen become a companion?

every single book I read in 2022. all 129 of them.
jesus christ
let's start with the best of the best; everything else will get listed beneath the read more because I'm not an animal. even just picking out my favorites is honestly probably going to get pretty lengthy, even though I'm trying to keep the synopses short.
batmanisagatewaydrug's noteworthy books of 2022
Complaint! (Sara Ahmed, 2021) - necessary for anyone doing diversity work in higher education, tbh
America is Not the Heart (Elaine Castillo, 2018) - achingly gorgeous novel of heartbreak and healing.
The School for Good Mothers (Jessamine Chan, 2022) - honestly? I feel very good calling this my favorite book of the entire year. sensitive, smart, chilling.
Black Feminist Thought (Patricia Hill Collins, 1990) - truly ashamed to say I didn't read this sooner. Collins' clear-eyed analysis remains crazily spot-on 30+ years later.
Hurts So Good: The Science and Pleasure of Pain on Purpose (Leigh Cowart, 2021) - I read this book so early in 2022 and literally have not stopped thinking about it since.
Batman: King Tut's Tomb (Nunzio DeFillippis, Christina Weir, José Luis García-López, and Kevin Nowlan, 2009) - dare I say the most fun I had with a comic all year.
You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty (Akwaeke Emezi, 2022) - a romance unlike any other. queer, fun, sexy, bold as hell, and joyfully life-affirming.
The Dangers of Smoking in Bed (Mariana Enríquez, trans. Megan McDowell, 2021) - DELICIOUSLY creepy short stories that will lurk in your brain forever.
Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century (Kim Fu, 2022) - if a more perfect short story collection exists I am yet to find it.
The World We Make (N.K. Jemisin, 2022) - I normally hesitate to include sequels on a list like this, but god DAMN Jemisin is the queen of modern spec fic for a reason.
We Do This 'Til We Free Us: Abolitionist Organizing and Transforming Justice (Mariame Kaba, edited by Tamara K. Nopper, 2021) - excellent collection of Kaba's abolitionist writings, drawing on years of organizing experience and wisdom.
Jade City (Fonda Lee, 2017) - look out! new favorite doorstopper fantasy series alert!
Priestdaddy (Patricia Lockwood, 2017) - about the best damn memoir I've ever read. heartbreaking and hysterical in turns, poetry the whole way through.
Batman: The Long Halloween and Batman: Dark Victory (Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, 1996 and 1999) - it's always so exciting when something much-hyped lives up to the hype in every way. Batman at his grim and moody Batmaniest with a Gotham that’s deliciously bleak.
Station Eleven (Emily St. John Mandel, 2014) - I didn't think I'd like this book much at all, then ended up proposing on the second date. oops!
I'm Glad My Mom Died (Jennette McCurdy, 2022) - you will also be glad McCurdy's mom died, and also experience every other known human emotion along the way.
Kaikeyi (Vaishnavi Patel, 2022) - SPLENDID mythology retelling + political fantasy.
My Body (Emily Ratajkowski, 2022) - haunting haunting haunting personal essays about Ratajkowski's life as a model and subsequent alienation from her own body.
Batman: Bruce Wayne, Murderer? (Greg Rucka et al, 2002) - genuinely what can I say I'm a messy bitch and I love when the Bats are having a terrible time.
The Batman Adventures Vol. 2 #1-17 (created by Dan Slott, Ty Templeton, Rick Burchett, Terry Beatty, and Bruce Timm, 2003) - a continuation of the Batman: The Animated Series universe that frankly just fucking rules.
Little Rabbit (Alyssa Songsiridej, 2022) - a potent and erotic adult coming of age story.
The Right to Sex: Feminism in the Twenty-First Century (Amia Srinivasan, 2021) - thorny, difficult, vital essays.
Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia (Sabrina Strings, 2019) - jaw-droppingly thorough research into the role of fatpobia played and plays in the project of race-making.
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous (Ocean Vuong, 2019) - yeah so it turns out no one was REMOTELY exaggerating. Vuong really is That Good.
Hench (Natalie Zina Walschots, 2020) - wild fun with a ruthless protagonist and her sex villainous beetle man boss; what more could you ask for?
Love Your Asian Body: AIDS Activism in Los Angeles (Eric C. Wat, 2021) - learning about queer history makes me feel like I’m holding something so vibrant and fragile and precious right in my little queer hand. this book is an emotional journey in such a shining way.
Never Have I Ever (Isabel Yap, 2021) - EXCITING short story collection centered on girls having Just The Weirdest Time.
and everybody else:
fiction:
Light From Uncommon Stars (Ryka Aoki, 2021)
Our Wives Under the Sea (Julia Armfield, 2022)
A Tiny Upward Shove (Melissa Chadburn, 2022)
A Prayer for the Crown-Shy (Becky Chambers, 2022)
Disorientation (Elaine Hsieh Chou, 2022)
The Laws of the Skies (Grégoire Courtois, trans. Rhonda Mullins, 2019)
The Monster Baru Cormorant (Seth Dickinson, 2018)
The Tyrant Baru Cormorant (Seth Dickinson, 2020)
Greenland (David Santos Donaldson, 2022)

Thirsty Sword Lesbians (April Kit Walsh, 2021)
special shame zone because I want you to know how bad this sucked, do not read this:
Rethinking Sex: A Provocation (Christine Emba, 2022). patronizing, puritanical, reductive, painfully cisheteronormative. weirdly afraid of group sex. not actually that provocative, just aggressively Catholic.
and last but most certainly least, a comic that I want to remind you all fucking sucked just one more time before the year is done.
Batman: One Bad Day - The Riddler (Tom King and Mitch Gerads, 2022)
Tom King, go fuck yourself. Mitch is cool though, the art slapped.
