Haven't been catting it out as much as I've liked, so as compensation here's all four leaders + some lore about the clans: Thunderclan

Born a kittypet named Christian, Eaglestar initially joined Thunderclan after being cast out onto the streets by his twolegs and the leader taking pity on him. However, Eaglestar proved to be incredibly cunning, working his way up the ranks and using his connections to eventually take the reins of the clan altogether. With this newfound power, Eaglestar naturally abuses it for all its' worth through using it to solve petty disputes and get out of hunting for the day. He has deep-rooted beef with the Shadowclan leader who he's been rivals with since apprenticeship, constantly taking any opportunity he can to one-up or antagonize her.

Riverclan

The youngest of the four leaders at just 23 moons, Reedstar was far from the first pick for leader in the eyes of his clan. After a flood destroyed most of their camp and took the lives of both their leader and deputy in one fell swoop, the clan waited with bated breath for the medicine cat to announce the decision of their new leader. To every cat's surprise however, the medicine cat chose to appoint the easygoing Reeddance of all people, much to the shock and outrage of most of the clan who saw him as unfit. Reedstar tries his best to meet the needs of these agitated cats, but his inexperience just leads most of his efforts to be used as more fuel for the hate mob as rumors of a possible civil war in Riverclan began to spread around like wildfire. Shadowclan

Azaleastar took up the mantle of leader many moons ago after the former deputy was mysteriously found dead in their nest, and she just so happened to be the next best cat to take on the new position. Being one of the best ambush-fighters in her clan, Azaleastar had always had a knack for spotting points of weakness she could exploit... and what better opportunity was there than a broken, divided clan with a hare-brained idiot for a leader? After the flood, she's been picking at Riverclan bit by bit, giddily exploiting their lack of unison for free territory with the intention of taking over their entire hunting grounds and putting her name in the history books. The only thing keeping her from invasion is the threat of Thunderclan, who've been making advances on her territory while they're busy with Riverclan. Windclan

Not wanting to engage with the other three clans, Mangrovestar keeps Windclan in a strict state of isolation. He doesn't care to involve himself in the conflict between Riverclan and Shadowclan, instead just wanting to maintain the prosperity that's reigned in his clan for these past few moons. Of the four leaders currently active, he's easily the most popular amongst his clan for his amicable nature and appearing (mostly) morally good in comparison. However, Mangrovestar tends to be very biased and easily swayed in regard to his judgement which can rub cats the wrong way whenever they're forced to clean the elders' den for a moon while his favorites get little more than a slap on the wrist.

Do you think he knows? Nakamura? Do you think he knows what he's doing? Because I know that sometimes creators just don't. The relationship between Mulder and Scully on The X Files led to the very invention of the term "shipping," and yet the entire time that was happening, the show's creator insisted that there was no romance between the characters. And if you've ever seen The X Files, you know how insane that is. So I really gotta wonder: When he gives us dynamics like those between Asa and Kame, or even those between the second Medicine Seller and Sakashita, does he know what he's doing? Or would he, if confronted with scenes of Asa and Kame's mutual self-sacrificial devotion, their tenderly holding hands as they lie beside each other through the night, insist that they're just good friends? Would he, if questioned about the Medicine Seller sensually running his hand along Sakashita's sword blade while looking deep into his eyes and smirking, declare that there's nothing homoerotic about it? Would he tell us—and truly believe—that it's all in our heads? Is the powerful presence of homosexuality in Karakasa an accident, or is it a calculated aspect of the story? I'm not wondering for the sake of some analytical interpretation (at least, not at the moment). I just really want to know. Is he oblivious, or does he know what he did?

New shifters? So they can turn people? Or is it just something that can awaken in anyone?

They can't turn people! It's very genetics based and uncommon I think, with most who hold the shifter genes having them be a recessive trait that's carried and potentially passed onto their children.

Most shifters have a "trigger event"- some life happening that caused the pathways in their brain to kick into autopilot and their abilities to show. There are ways to identify them before this of course, sharpened nails, elongated canine teeth, higher sensitivity to light and sound and of course there's genetic testing, but some shifters don't even realize what they are until later in life.

Christopher's trigger event happened when he was just a kid. One of his friends fell out of a treehouse he'd built with her, and suddenly he was big enough to break her fall <3

As for "new shifters", that more means shifters who are new to their powers. Think of a new superhero. They can't turn others, but they also don't exactly understand how their powers work or why, and to a creature that can be easily overwhelmed... let's just say the public opinion on shifters isn't good. If you were suddenly bigger than everything and everyone around you with people reacting in fear and you had the ability to not only lock in on heartbeats, but the innate desire to protect people by holding them as close to you as possible?

Well... being surrounded by that many scared potential victims... doesn't often bode well for the shifter or spectators involved, and when threatened? That instinct to protect can be forgotten, lost in a desire to consume what's hurt them.

There’s someone on Reddit I’ve seen trying to spread “Chris hates Jess” around. They just say it in the comments like fact as a way to support Emily and to argue that Emily x Chris is a good ship. When asked what they’re talking about, they say it’s from the beta. And a) This is misleading? I feel like you’d only just say it like fact if you’re trying to mislead b) So? The beta isn’t the final game. c) Chris… doesn’t hate Jess in the beta that I recall? I only remember him asking if she wants to come with them but maybe I missed a clip.

Anyway. I need to do my analysis on Emily soon because I feel like her fan base is starting to make me straight up dislike her. She has her merits, but I slog through misinformation or misleading comments pertaining to Emily every day it feels like. Her fans edit the wiki with false info and get really unfair in debates. The other day, someone got mad at me for saying “Emily helped Matt off the cliff” because they wanted me to admit she completely hauled him up, making her stronger than Sam? I’ve seen people say Sam doesn’t like Mike or Jess because she supports Emily. And now I’m seeing “Chris x Emily because Chris hates Jess too.”

Like if you have to lie about Emily to like her, do you really like Emily? If you have to intentionally misread scenes and frame them not for what they actually mean for the plot but more for a way to bolster your fave, do you really care about the lore? I feel treated like a massive Emily and Ashley hater just because I’m trying to understand the story and, yes, they did things wrong. And it’s not hating on Em to be like “this didn’t happen in the game.”

re2r - how naive he is. becomes a cop to help people, how angry he got with ada about the kid and father who... you know. people like them being the reason he wanted to join the force. his aspirations to be a selfless source of good in the world.

but not/maybe never knowing of the corrupt chief. not seeing how disgusting it was to have a cooperation run a city, thinking that rules and the law would stop and misdoing...

thinking about him losing hope over the series and falling into such a deep depression, but his morals never changing about needing to sacrifice life and limb for others. the guilt of not being able to save everyone...

wondering if he even believes there is a god after all the shit he's seen.

I know a good chunk of the T-Dolls have actual names, courtesy of Project Neural Cloud, GFL2 and other lore.

Personally my favorite is SPAS's name, Sabrina is a really cute one for her! I need to write her more.

Springfield's name in GFL2 funnily enough is still just Springfield. I don't know if that's her real name, or she's still hanging onto her Griffin alias, but that's still our T-Doll Wife!

Finally writing out some of the lore for that tcofs monster au that was literally handed to me by the game and wow. Some of these guys have it so much better than the others.

This may be a long ask because I like to yap lol

Honestly, I feel like one of the most realistic possibilities/best addition they could give us in the remaster is: more clues to find that would provide more insight to the characters and their relationships to one another. I feel like there’s many great opportunities for them to do that with the characters, especially the Washington’s (which I would happily take as a win because they are so interesting to me and we didn’t really get to know Hannah and Beth). First opportunity that comes to mind is when Sam finds Josh’s phone. This is probably me totally being biased because I want more Josh content even though he is the character that has the most lore (sue me) but I feel like we didn’t really get to see him genuinely interact with most of the characters. I mean there were obviously moments that I believe Josh was being genuine, but most of it was definitely a mask *pun intended* and him being devious. They could add some text interactions between him and all other members of the group or allow you to just kind of search through his phone. Because I’m a JoshxSam enthusiast I would geek if they had a couple of flirty messages between the two or texts that show them being what each other needs. Hell, throw in a couple messages between him and Chris where they both talk about their crushes (and more texts between him and Josh in general because friendship goals). I mean the devs used to look through Reddit so they know what the ppl want. Why not make JoshxSam Semi-Canon 9 yeas later LMAO?! I’d also like to know if Josh is really girl crazy or if it’s an attempt at being normal so seeing some brief talk surrounding Josh’s love life or affairs would be rather entertaining to me.

Another cool thing they could do with his phone is have it to where you can go to the photos app and get to see photos he’s taken. They could even have you be able to open his email and find things regarding school or his interest ect. 

Since I mentioned the photo app, They could also add like a scrapbook in Beth‘s room where she writes little notes about the characters to give insight about her relationships to the characters or memories she’s had with the group and her family. All the devs gotta do is add a couple more badly photoshopped edits to the game /lh.

Another thing I think they could do is add a couple more rooms that you can explore, maybe like two or three. One: Josh‘s bedroom, Two: Bobs office where maybe you can find emails on his computer regarding Josh’s psyche, talks of Hannah and Beth’s disappearance/memories of them, some personal journal entries that talk about the dynamic of their family, history of the land and their encounters with the suspicious activity that takes place on the mountain. It’s been a few years since I’ve watched the video game fully so maybe some of this is in there because I think I remember you being able to find police report Melinda made regarding noises. ORRRR im making things up.

This would be an easier way to add some content without actually needing the actors to be there. What do you think? Do you think it is plausible?

Anyway, I love this!!! I mean, I am a SUCKER for putting pieces together via settings and items. (I am weirdly attached to the fact that you can find one of Bob’s trophies for a film called “Blood Monastery,” because it loops back to Chris finding the monk outfit in the basement). I just geek over anything that makes the world feel detailed and connected. So I love the idea of adding content to Josh’s phone! You’re right; it’s a very easy way to add more lore and fun interactions (absolutely give me texts between Josh and Sam or Josh and Chris!!!).

I also like the idea of seeing Josh and Beth’s rooms, because I thought Hannah’s was VERY well done. You can glean so much about her from her bedroom. Whoever designed her room did a stellar job. Beth is the least developed notable character in the whole game, acting as a bit more of an exposition machine than character at points, so I’d love stuff to further humanize her like what we saw for Hannah.

Anyway, Ballistic Moon DID confirm new footage/story animation (though it seems limited)— along with more collectibles and interactions, so your idea is quite feasible, actually! Meaghan Martin has confirmed she recorded a little bit for the remake, and there have been vague leaks of Jessica. So we will be getting some new voice work/face animations for at least some characters.

In a weird way, I hope it truly is all minor additions. I definitely want certain things cleaned up and emphasized and whatnot, but I’m also nervous that a lot of new content might include things that don’t align with the tone or lore of the original (though, there have been official statements saying the devs worked hard to ensure new content keeps with the integrity of the old. And Ballistic Moon has many workers who’d worked on Until Dawn before).

I think the following things are also realistic:

Adding Emily and Matt’s “extra” chapter back into the game. That really should not have been removed as a pre-order bonus. It’s part of the story.

I think they could recycle some PS3 content for Mike and Chris. Brett Dalton and Noah Fleiss joined the project in its PS3 phase. So they have recorded content for Mike and Chris that was scrapped along with parts of that prototype that didn’t make it into the finished project. Now, I think some things were very much scrapped for a reason. All the characters changed a bit from then as did the tone and beats of the story. But I also think some stuff could potentially be added back even if Brett Dalton or Noah Fleiss can’t/decline to return.

Anyway, these are my thoughts! Thanks for the discussion!

Televangelists never die, right?

TW: Allusion to character death? The looming figure of catharsis? Revenge quests? Torture and blackmail and possible suicide... Medical malpractice ments. Christian being kinda creepy. A half joking half serious threat to. Skin someone and make their flesh a fashionable accessory. I don't knooooowwww.

After Monroe is arrested, and Richie is hospitalized, Christian flips the script. Sharpens his story like a razor. Sells it all packaged up nice and neat, a giving and generous man taken advantage of, roped into associating with criminals. Sad. Very sad.

He gets what he wants, I guess. The sermons he's been dogmatically recording for years go viral. He's glad he set up that camera and pointed it at the altar, now. He's glad he got the footage. He's glad.

He gets married. Has kids. A beautiful home. A pretty wife, that he... He cares for. She really is very pretty. He wishes she would stop dying her hair that gaudy shade of red. He never told her to at the threat of withholding funds for groceries, don't be ridiculous. And the kids, well. He has to love them. It's godly.

I'm sure Christian's sermons play constantly after he's murdered... Before the footage leaks. A martyr for those first few weeks, before Richie drops the evidence. Maryanne was the first to die, after all. It's easy to feel bad for a simple preacher's wife.

Richie can't quite remember it all in the electrocuted haze, but he's sure nurse Maryanne was smiling as she turned the knob from five to ten on the shock machine strapped to his temples. He wonders if jumper cables clipped to your ears feel similar.

Richie isn't sure how Chris and Maryanne met. Richie thinks he should be able to remember if Chris ever visited, but the twenty years he spent in the asylum are a blur. Maybe Chris did visit. Maybe Richie doesn't want to remember.

Richie wrote it all down, in those first few days. Everything that happened. All the names. The important ones. Chris. Monroe. The name of Richie's old pimp, a few particularly horrid family members. Anything Richie didn't want to be forced to forget. People who need to be visited, once Richie is out. Should he ever get out.

He gets out.

Life isn't perfect. There's no way to tie up every loose end. Christian will learn that, before it's all over. The kids are easier to deal with. They're quick to take the money Richie offers and they leave. Change your name, Richie suggests, and enjoy the water in Tahiti. It's the nicest he can be to these little ingrates.

(He may or may not castrate both of them. Maybe they die from the blood loss. Richie just doesn't want any more Kings in the world.)

If you want to fuck Richie, you need to be ready to pay.

I'm sure Christian has lived in a constant state of stress. Paranoia will destroya. What if Monroe gets out of jail on good behavior? What if Charlotte escapes the asylum? His hair starts falling out early. Has to pay for a hair transplant/plugs. Anything to keep up appearances, right? He's only just turned forty. He can't be going BALD.

In my heart of hearts I hope it's on his birthday when it happens. Happy fortieth, Chris. You've got a choice to make. Do you admit what you did and live? Do you take responsibility? Or do you die, and your lies can die with you? You'll always be a star. The world will never know you're a rapist, an accessory to murder, a professional embezzler. You will always be Good Saint Christian.

If you cross your fingers behind your back, any lie you tell is forgiven. Usually it's Chris who crosses his fingers. Now it's Richie's turn.

Richie will burn the church, either way. That big pretty church Christian bought, and renovated, and renovated and renovated... but he could never really stop smelling the sweat and blood no matter what he did, no matter how many times he ripped up the carpet or had it replaced.

Hope recording all those sermons was worth it. The problem with having a camera always running is that it's always running. God sees all, yeah? Cry your way out of this one, Chris. Crocodile tears are nothing. Richie has always wanted a snakeskin purse.

quick question, why is G11 so tired all the time?

It's actually a little simpler compared to most T-Doll backstories on this blog. She is just really REALLY bad at taking care of herself.

G11 was originally an abandoned Civilian Doll who was attacked by scavengers and rescued by Squad 404. Since she had no owner and deciding that she'd just get attacked again, she was remodeled into a Tactical-Doll and became a mercenary along with her new family.

Needless to say, she's earned her naps I'd say.
