BECAUSE I'm not done with modern vampire ideas

From his long trapped slumber Vampire Luffy has finally been let loose onto the word, so naturally his initial intent is to run out and start a mixed coven of his own.

Unfortunately the first thing that happens is he comically gets punched by the sun and nearly dies. Due to his age and weakened state having resilience of daylight is the only thing keeping the boy, in vampire standards, from outright exploding in the light. A recurring joke that he refuses to learn from.

Koby was the human who found burnt Luffy hiding and waiting for night time, from there a strange relationship started. Koby giving the vampire a few ideas where to set up a base of sorts, albeit anxiously thinking of the implications of setting a home for a predator to settle in this city. Is also confused by Luffy's free spirited enthusiasm for everything modern.

Aaaaand you get the idea that Luffy will be slowly recruiting everyone into his group, tho not always turning them.

My version:

Zoro, either stays human or becomes a vampire way later on.

Nami is already turned and Luffy has to fight Arlong to break his control over her physically and via vampiric bond.

Usopp stays human, knows about everything there is about scary urban legends (and gossip) so being superstitious helps out, he figured out Luffy's nature the fastest.

Sanji is also debatable on whether he stays human or becomes a vampire later on (especially if a green haired man is involved)

Chopper just falls for Luffy's friendly nature... Might be a werewolf.

Robin is Robin, knows more about the occult and its history from around the world than anyone else, probably a witch or just an eccentric human. The joke is no one can figure it out.

Franky definitely is a werewolf tho his was inflicted by a bite (while Chopper is born one)

Brook is another vampire just so badly injured he has no skin left, all bones yo ho ho!

Jumbei, is an old man who's seen to much mythological shit in his lifetime that it had awakened spiritual energy in his fists. Finds Luffy's carefree attitude is hard not to get attached to considering his true nature.

Ace & Sabo, either already vampires that Luffy meets up with again or two new humans he'll add to his coven and likely turn.

Heyyy! I saw the chimera reader post and I had an idea. So maybe there a scenario where reader looks at one of the strawhat member and suddenly picks them up. And when she picks them up she holds them with her clawed paws (not to hurt them) so they can stay still while she fixes their hair. Kinda like how a mother cat cleans their kitten.

(I would prefer the whole strawhat team though you can choose whoever you want if it's too much😚)

You watch the strawhat member one by one, like a predator is spying their prey. Nami noticed this and wasn't sure what was wrong with you, so ask your cousin.

"Hey, (C/N), something is wrong with (Y/N)," she said. (C/N) look at you, staring at luffy, chopper, and usopp. "Oh! Don't worry! She just looking at them, to see which one has to clean!" (C/N) said.

"Oh... ...wait... What!?" Nami yelled. You stretch your clawed paw to grab Chooper, "uh... Ahh!!" Chooper screams, once you grab Chooper gently. Then you started licking him, and everyone was so confused.

"It safe, chopper! She is just cleaning you up!" (C/N) shouts, chopper stayed calm for a bit. "Hey, (C/N), is it really normal for (Y/N)? I don't know if she gets sick." Said Nami, "well, it is normal, (Y/N) just throw up..."

Nami, look at her with wide eye, "...or give her a medicine!" You finish cleaning chopper and put him down gently. Then you pick up luffy and clean him, "Hey! It's kinda feel nice!" Said luffy, enjoy your cleaning.

"(Y/N)-chan!! Can I join!!!???" Sanji shouted. You looked at him and nodded your head. But you have to finish cleaning luffy hair. You use your hands to move luffy head to get a better clean, so you won't miss a spot.

(Sanji has started to get jealous). You finish cleaning luffy hair, last you pick up sanji. Sanji almost bleed his nose. You're very gentle.

The calm after the raid on the Kashmir drone base was deceptive, fragile, like the silence between thunderclaps.

Inside the MI6 forward command tent nestled in the lower valleys, Ethan pored over the recovered drone schematics while Zohra traced the missing connections in the Phoenix Protocol's architecture. Ghost stood near the canvas flap, arms crossed, jaw clenched.

And Rose?

She was gone.

The chopper she had boarded was missing from the radar grid.

And so was Walker.

Three Hours Earlier

Secure Holding Bay, Kashmir

Walker sat restrained, legs chained to the floor of the armored van inside the hangar. His eyes were half-lidded but sharp, like a predator waiting for the gate to creak open.

“You built this war around yourself,” Rose said as she checked the transfer file on the tablet. “It’s collapsing.”

He looked up, amused. “You still think you’re the one writing the ending?”

“You’re being flown to the Hague,” she continued, ignoring his tone. “The world will see what you are. A failure.”

Walker tilted his head. “You don’t understand, Rogue. I chose this ending.”

Suddenly, the emergency lights blinked. A pulse. Then another.

Gas hissed from the wall vents. Guards dropped like puppets.

Walker’s lips curled into a grin as he bit down on a molar, releasing a microdetonator in his cuff. The lock snapped open.

Rose reached for her weapon, but he was faster. He slammed the butt of a guard’s rifle into her side, catching her as she crumpled.

“I’m not going to kill you,” he whispered into her ear. “Not yet.”

He threw her over his shoulder and disappeared into the smoke.

Present

In the Sky Over Kashmir

Rose stirred to the dull roar of rotors and the bite of cable ties cutting into her wrists. Her head throbbed. Her vision cleared, metal walls, rattling doors, snow-capped peaks through scratched windows.

She was in a military transport chopper.

Across from her sat Walker, the remote detonator in his gloved hand.

“You should’ve let me go,” he said without looking at her. “Now you’re going to see it end. With me.”

“You’re sick,” she growled, struggling. “They’ll stop you.”

Walker laughed. “They’re too late. Kashmir will be the first cinder in a new order. And when they find our bodies, they’ll understand. We died to birth the world.”

Before she could answer, another chopper came into view, a silhouette cutting through the pale clouds.

The second bird.

Ethan. Ghost. Zohra.

“Right on time,” Walker muttered.

Aerial Dogfight

Above the Peaks

The two helicopters locked into a deadly dance through the treacherous passes of the Kashmir range.

Walker's gunner opened fire. Rounds slammed into the snow-draped cliffs as Ethan swerved to dodge. Ghost took up the mounted gun and let loose, lighting up the sky with hot brass and smoke trails.

Zohra barked into the comms, “We need a clean shot! Walker’s sitting on a nuke trigger!”

Ghost narrowed his eyes, steadying his aim. “Then we clip the wings, not the cockpit.”

The rotors screamed against the wind. Walker’s chopper banked hard right, scraping the cliff wall. Snow cascaded in an avalanche of powder and ice.

Benji’s voice cracked through the comms from a mobile uplink below: “Satellite’s showing seismic instability in the valley. If that detonator hits the ground, game over.”

“We're not letting it,” Ethan barked.

But then,

A shot pierced their tail rotor.

Ethan cursed. “We’re going down!”

Ghost grabbed Zohra. “We jump. Now!”

Zohra looked at him. “Together.”

They leapt out, just as the helicopter exploded in a crescendo of fire and steel against the mountainside.

Mountaintop

Final Confrontation

Walker dragged Rose from the wreckage of his own chopper, now smoking and tilting precariously over a jagged ridge.

She stumbled, wrists still bound, boots slipping on the ice. He stood over her, staring at the detonator like it was scripture.

“You see this?” he whispered. “This is rebirth.”

Rose spat blood. “You’re not a god. You’re a coward with a bomb.”

Suddenly, from the wreckage of the second helicopter,

Ghost emerged.

Limps bloodied, jacket scorched. Eyes burning.

He said nothing.

He ran.

The fight was raw. Brutal. Neither man spoke. They were beyond words.

Steel met flesh. Fists crashed like thunder. Snow turned red. Walker was stronger, but Ghost was relentless.

Then,

A misstep.

They both slid toward the edge.

A tangle of limbs.

A cable snapped free from the wreck and caught them both, dangling over the abyss, one hand each on the steel.

Walker snarled, kicking.

Ghost gritted his teeth.

Rose screamed.

Zohra appeared, battered and bleeding. She had climbed the wreck unseen.

She looked down at them.

Saw the detonator caught on a spar.

She whispered, “Kashmir will become your tomb.”

And she jumped.

She tackled Walker midair, snatched the detonator from his belt, and hurled it upward.

“Ethan!” she cried.

From the ridge, Ethan caught it.

Deactivated it with trembling fingers.

Below, Zohra and Walker fell.

Vanishing into the gorge.

Silence followed.

Then,

Ghost’s hand gripped the cliff edge.

He climbed.

Rose was there.

She fell to her knees beside him, sobbing.

“You’re alive.”

He coughed, half-laughing. “Told you. I don’t die easy.”

Ethan joined them. Bruised. Silent. Grieving.

Snow began to fall again.

Above them, the sky was clear.

I keep seeing this description pop up in fic and now here, and it barks the very shins of my brain so I have to make this argument.

Y'all. Yautja do not have small eyes.

What they have is eyes the size of human eyes in BIG. CHIBI. HEADS.

Look at a picture of Kevin Peter Hall in the Jungle Predsuit without the head. Look at the size of his eyes. Look at the size of his head. Now look at the size of the Predator's head. Yautja don't have small eyes, they have ENORMOUS SKULLS.

Like it is literally a plot and relationship-development point in AVP that Yautja eyes can look human. Scar's green eyes and dilated pupils (especially compared to the red-ringed yellow eyes and constricted pupils Predator fans are expecting) humanize Scar for Lex and for the audience when he removes his mask. That's why there's a close-up shot of his face BEFORE he roars at her: so the audience are forced to look at his eyes and receive the message that Lex has looked at Scar and seen a person and not a monster; that's how we understand why Lex doesn't flinch or run when Scar gives that iconic roar.

It's a great callback to the unmasking in the original Predator, and it uses the unmasking-closeup-roar in a new way, showing the audience that yes, this is a Predator, but he's not quite as alien and hostile as all the Predators we've known before. It's also a wonderful moment of communication between the characters: Scar's challenge isn't "I'm going to fuck you up, Ahnold," it's "Here I am, big and scary, can you still handle being friends?" And Lex' answer is "Yes, I see you, yes you're scary, but I'm not going anywhere."

That relationship-building is what gives the final action sequence of AVP its stakes, its emotional weight: this isn't just a random Predator whaling on a Xenoqueen, this is Lex' friend, risking his life to protect his friend, who accepted him and joined his murderclub. Scar's death is painful to us because he's personalized in a way Celtic and Chopper aren't, in a way no previous (canonical) Predator has been. That personalization revolves around that pivotal unmasking moment when Lex--and the audience--notices not how alien Scar's face is, but how human his eyes are. If Yautja eyes are not similar to human eyes, the entire end of the movie wouldn't work as well as it does.

i think sanji is very very aware of how dangerous zoro is and that just emphasises how careful zoro is with him,,, when they roughhouse with him in tiger form the most he does is roll around and bat at sanji with his paws and tail and at first sanji was like “do you think i’m that weak marimo tf??” until he saw tiger!zoro wreaking havoc and destruction across the battlefield and he was like oh. yeah ok that’s fine

the first time chopper meets zoro, the swordsman’s in his tiger form and chopper’s honestly terrified bcs predator?? huge predator?? zoro stalks towards him and he squeaks and tries not to move but then zoro just appraises him, gives him the Lick of Approval and ambles off to do who knows what. probably nap again.

and on that note, zoro’s tiger form is huge. absolutely fucking massive. he is longer than sanji is tall. he comes up to nearly above waist height. he could hide chopper inside of his closed mouth.

but somehow kids aren’t scared of him at all. it bewilders him to no end; sanji always gets a good laugh out of his expression when he stands there, slightly taken aback, tail flicking against the ground. zoro doesn’t know if it’s because they’re so young that they just don’t have a sense of self-preservation yet or something but in every damn town they go to, literally every town he steps into in his tiger form, there will be a child that gasps “kitty!!” all delighted and runs up to him completely unafraid. it’s… refreshing, if he’s being honest.

unlike their children, the parents have shown a variety of reactions, ranging from borderline hysterical fits of screaming and crying and trying to cart their child away (zoro just stood there raising an eyebrow in tiger form) to pulling out a loaded shotgun and holding it ready behind their back. and then the kid stops short in front of him, and zoro mentally sighs as he prepares for sticky little fingers in his scruff.

not that they don’t ask; even the most naive child would hesitate before touching a creature with fangs as long as their forearm. sanji always takes that chance to kneel down beside him with a hand on his back, voice kind as he explains to the kid that this is mr. tiger, no, he won’t eat you if you ask before touching him, will you, mr. tiger? and the damn kid turns to him with hopeful eyes.

he always acquiesces. always pretends to topple over and plays dead when they try and tackle him into the dirt. plays tag and chases the kid around in circles until they’re so tuckered out that they drape themselves right over zoro’s back, hugging his neck and giggling weakly. he goes back to the ship with his fur all ruffled and his ears combed within an inch of their lives and the memory of tiny hands waving, soft laughter as the kid calls “goodbye, mr. tiger!” from their doorstep and. it’s nice. to have someone other than his crew who isn’t scared of him.

of course, he has his bad nights. where he thinks about how if those parents knew the things he’d done they would never let their children within an island’s distance of him. sanji has an uncanny knack for telling when he’s gotten stuck in his head and on those nights the cook takes special care to tuck himself tight to zoro’s chest. it’s a blatant display of trust; showing his back, baring his throat to something with too-sharp claws and so many teeth is something zoro would never do. he worries sometimes that sanji is a fool for loving him. but when they’re wrapped in the quiet of one of their bunks, too many limbs in too little space, he can’t help but relax because sanji stays. sanji never takes anything lying down, gives back as good as he gets, calls zoro out on his bullshit when he’s being an ass and he stays. he is warm and soft and strong and beautiful and zoro trusts him implicitly, almost more than he trusts himself.

AND. sanji isn’t the only member of the Zoro Comfort Club. if the crew notices? good luck to him lmao he isn’t allowed to mope anymore. he’s been dragged yowling through the hallways more than once, gently but insistently corralled into the galley and made to lay down so that the rest of them can pile on top of him. it helps. his nakama are idiots, and he loves them.

zoro’s size does come in handy, though; one time when they’re in the middle of a fight, they get separated from luffy and the others and sanji’s hurt pretty badly. there are more enemies looking for them, and despite how much sanji complains about hygiene and stuff zoro actually really takes pride in keeping his coat clean. still, he rolls around in the dirt on the street and squashes the cook flat to the ground; he’s big enough to hide sanji completely and it just so happens that their enemies are looking for a blond and a green-haired swordsman, not a vaguely bedraggled-looking muddy dusty cat thing. they get away undetected and sanji uses up all the hot water getting them both squeaky clean.

his tail is his tell (guess you could call it… a tell-tail sign… i’m sorry i’ll stop). it’s big and fluffy like a feather boa and it has an annoying habit of wrapping around things he likes when he’s not paying attention; he sunbathes by luffy’s side on the deck and it snakes around his captain’s ankle. nami sits on the floor with her maps while zoro’s on the bed and it settles across her shoulders. sanji curls up next to him and it twines around his waist, and he doesn’t notice until he sees his crew smiling at him. most of the times he immediately pulls it away with an embarrassed chuff, but if whoever he’s with is having a tough day he’ll just… leave it. according to the kids, it’s mighty nice to hug.
