Worst Video Game Song Tournament Masterpost
The tournament has begun! We are currently in round 4, and each poll will be open for a week. I will also be reblogging each poll 12 hours after it is posted so that people in different time zones are able to see them more easily. If you don't want to see these reblogs, block the tag #12th hour reblog. There will be a total of 8 polls in this round. 4 polls will be posted a day for a total of 2 days.
When you vote, I would recommend listening to as much as you can of each song before voting, but how you choose is up to you. Remember to be civil in the tags and replies! Some posts will have propaganda included with the songs, but feel free to add more propaganda in the tags and replies, or send it to me in the ask box and I'll try to share it as soon as I can!

So the next tournament will be What is the Best Poké Ball? I'm defining the category by every named Poké Ball variant in the main series (including Legends Arceus)- giving us a total of 39 competitors.
So this will not include the special Poké Balls that are used in Dynamaxing, for example, because they are not named. But it will include the GS Ball, even though you cannot use it to catch a Pokémon! I hope this makes sense.
Now of course, because of the numbers, we'll need to do a preliminary round to narrow the field to 32. I have some options I'd like for you all to choose between on how we get there!
Option 1- Random Seeding
I completely randomise which Ball goes up against which, so some will just randomly have to do a prelim match.
Option 2- Google Forms Seeding
Now this option would take the most work, but is the fairest- in theory. I would open a Google Form for you all to submit your favourite Poké Ball, and based on that data I would seed the tournament properly.
The only issue with this method is that it entirely depends on how much data I can get, and if it's not comprehensive enough I may have to do some randomising anyway for tied results!
Option 3- Hisui Preliminaries
This is my preferred option because it also tackles something else I was thinking about. In Legends Arceus, many variant Balls were introduced- the Hisui designs for Poké, Great, and Ultra Balls, plus 3 versions of the Feather and Heavy Balls each. Personally, I don't think it would be particularly interesting to have a tournament where several of the competitors are essentially reskins or tiny deviations on other Balls, so here's my proposal.
By running 5 preliminary matches to determine: Hisuian Poké Ball or classic Poké Ball, same with Great and Ultra, then which Feather Ball variant, and which Heavy Ball variant. This eliminates exactly 7 competitors- the amount needed to bring the total down to 32. After that, the remaining contestants would be randomly seeded for the main tournament.
All I need from you now is to vote-
Once there's a clear consensus, I'll start work on whichever option wins. Thanks folks 💕

More about info under the cut!
Yes the bracket is seeded, mostly in order of what I’ve perceived in terms of popularity over the years and my personal views on the quality of certain series. But hey, sometimes it’s about how much we love something and not how good it is. This is just a poll for fun! If you don’t like it I would love for you to make your own because the more the merrier. Also I left off some little one-shots and famous fanworks for the sake condensing but I’d be happy to make a side-poll redemption round if there’s enough call for it.
3/7 Update
So I uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh can’t math well? And miscounted a week somehow. So! We are doing a bonus losers bracket week to fill in the gap. The final for this will be April 1st, along with the vote for the main winner.
Also thanks to everyone for voting! I’m planing on running this again and some other themed polls but will probably start a side-blog to make the updates easier.
3/15 Update
The Losers I mean the Redemption Bracket has been chosen! Choices coordinated for maximum drama ^w^

Let the challenge begin!
Week 1 (October 1 - 7)
It's October 1st, which means HP Flowers’ Autumn Mini Round kicks off today! If you're following Track #1, we'll be starting with Prompt Card #1, which has 2 brand new flower/plant prompts to choose from. Prompts are photo and text based. A reminder that creators have the option to choose: 1 prompt, both prompts (should you choose the pairing/bouquet route), or none of them from this prompt card. You can also add other flowers/plants if you think they pair well with the challenge prompts. (P.S. If you're following Track #2, skip right ahead and make a thing from older prompts from previous rounds. Post your works at any time this month!). Without further ado, this week’s new prompts are:
1. Hellebore- We Shall Overcome Scandal and Slander
If paired with: >> Begonia- warn of future challenges
OR
>> Edelweiss- for courage in the face of what’s to come OR
>> Clover- for good luck and hope
—
2. Basil- Hate
If paired with: >> Lavender- for betrayal
OR
>> Oleander- a warning for someone you distrust
—
Optional Bouquet or Display: Legends and/or Mythology for Lessons Learned or Gaining Truth
Use all of the flowers/plants listed above as inspiration for all things related to urban or local legends and/or mythology.
—
All works can be posted to HP Flowers’ open AO3 collection.
If you would like your work to be shared or reblogged, don’t forget to tag @hp-flowers and #hpflowers2023.

teamfight tactics (tft): a beginner's guide for stays
chan has been having fun playing tft during his lives recently and i know a lot of stays are unfamiliar with it so i wanted to put together something in case people wanted to understand the game a bit! also basically everything i know about tft is just from watching streams or videos about it so this guide is super simple and won't explain how to play or win 😅
first is to clear up that tft is different from league of legends! it's a spinoff game made from the same company (riot) and the champions in tft are from lol. since they're both under riot, you use the same account to play both tft and lol
you can play either on pc or mobile. chan has mentioned he plays on mobile (when he was saying he never even uses the chat function since he plays on his phone).
the basic premise of tft is that you create a team of champions (aka units) and fight 7 other people's teams. you start with one unit and can level up to put more on the playing board.
this is the starting carousel to choose your first champion, which also comes with an item. this picture only has one player, but normally there are 8! (so all of skz can play together haha)
this is an example of what the board looks like on mobile! there are a bunch of things on it, but i've labelled the ones most important to know. the pc version is similar, but has even more info displayed on the screen at once
tft is an auto-battler game which means you just place the units on the board and you don't control them while they fight. the main things you can control are:
1. what units you have
2. what items you put on each unit
3. placement of units
when choosing your units, there are different synergies you can create based on the type of unit and these will give you things like extra speed, damage protection, etc. on the side of the screen, you can see how many units are needed to get the benefit of the synergy
there's a store to buy different units. if they don't have the units you're looking for, you can use gold to reroll and change the units available. you can also buy xp to level up and put more units on the board (normally your level corresponds to the number of units you can put on, so level 1 means you can have 1 unit, etc). units can either be 1, 2, or 3 star (3 is the strongest) and you can level them up by buying more of them. three 1 star units of the same champion will combine to make a 2 star unit, and three 2 star units will combine to make a 3 star unit. this screenshot shows the pc version of the store.
next are the items you can put on the units. they have a lot of items and you an also combine them to create better items!
once you have the units you want and any items on them, it's important to position the units. some units are better for close combat or defense and some for long range.
before each round, there's time to move units around, buy more, and put on items. then the combat round starts and you pray your team does well, then celebrate if they win and cry if they lose
at the start of the game, each player has 100 hp. when they lose a fight, they'll lose a certain amount of hp depending on the damage dealt and how many enemy units are still alive. at 0 hp, you're out of the game. after each round, you can see who won ✅️ and who lost ❎️
there's also strategies for win or loss streaking bc you will get more gold after each round for consecutive wins/losses. also if you have certain amounts of gold (based on increments of 10) then you get interest and can earn even more gold
tft is super complicated and requires a lot of strategy and knowledge so i consider chan a big nerd (affectionate) to have platinum ranking and play it for stress relief. i'm so glad he was able to get his account back and i've been having a lot of fun watching him play it!
anyway that concludes my very bad and very simplified guide on tft basics! there is lots that i didn't mention and also lots i don't know so i'm sorry if i got anything wrong and feel free to correct me
#i hope this is helpful#and not too confusing#but tbh tft is pretty confusing at first#which just proves chan is a genius#i'm so happy he plays it during lives now#i love that he's so comfortable during channie's room#and it's so fun to see him this excited#you can tell he enjoys it a lot#thank you riot for giving him back his account#even tho it shouldnt have been taken in the first place#also some of the pictures are sooo blurry and super big#bc they're cropped screenshots lol#chan#bang chan#skz#stray kids#channie's room#tft#teamfight tactics#bang chan playing tft#tft for stays

F* The Legends - Card Games
Ever curious how Luke Arnold got an idea for card games for his The Fetch Phillips Series "Dead Man in a Ditch"?
F* The Legend is a card game using all 54 cards attempting to get the lowest score possible each round, and by winning rounds earning enough points to reach 10.
Originally a card game named 'Fours' created by Oliver Oldfield, it was played throughout multiple hostels in Malaysia by The Buskers Guide with Ashley Arnold and modified with Luke Arnold until 'F* The Legend' was born.
This is a game of memory, strategy and luck.
Players: 3 - 6
Card Values
J = 0, A = 1, Face Value = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Q = 11, K = 10, Joker = 0
Game
The dealer rotates with every turn, to start the game every player is dealt 4 cards face down. Once all 4 cards have been dealt you can only look at 2 of your cards then place them face down in the same starting positions. You cannot recheck your cards once you the game has started.
The deck sits in the middle of the table and once everyone has looked at any two of their cards they each tap the table to signal they're ready to start. Once every player is ready the dealer flips the top card over and the person to their left can choose to swap that card with one in their hand or pick a new one from the deck. You do not have to show anyone the card you pick up but you must place the card you swapped out onto the pile next to the deck face up.
The idea is to accumulate the lowest score of all the players by trading your cards whilst learning what you had when turning them out, when you think you have the lowest score at the end of your turn call 'I’m a Legend'. Once this has been called every other player has one more turn then then all cards are flipped face up, player with the lowest score wins the round. You cannot have more then 4 cards at anyone time.
Scoring
Every player starts on 0 and is trying to be the first to 10, you score at the end of every round.
Calling legend and having lowest score on flip: 3 points.
Not calling legend but have lowest score on flip: 1 point.
Calling legend and not having lowest score on flip: -1 point.
Having a score 20 or over on flip: -1 point.
Having a score of 35 or over: resets to 0.
4 of a kind: Can slap everyone at the table, no one wins or loses a point.
Draw
If players tie with the lowest score there is a final showdown to determine the winner of that round. We will list options but any game can be played recommend something quick and simple. Once the winner is decided they receive 1 point, even if that player originally called legend. If the player who called legend loses the final showdown they do not lose a point.
Final Showdown Game (2 Players)
Players are dealt two face down cards each, placed side by side. Both player look at their left card then place it back on the table face down. Players decide wether to keep their left card or swap it with the opponents right hand card. Lowest score wins, card values same as 'F* the Legend'.
F*ng the Legend
This game has power cards which you will use to help steal other players cards, swap players cards, get 2nd turns and use to 'F* The Legend'. You can only use these cards once and they cannot be picked up from the deck by any other player if used or not. You should pay attention to what other players swap out as you can learn what others have as well as yourself.
Power Cards
K: 'The Kind King' - If you turn a king you receive 1 more turn from the deck
7: 'The Thief' - You can swap any 2 cards on the table. This can be one of yours with another player or 2 other players with each other. Cards remain face down.
Joker: 'The Troll' - If you turn this card it has multiple functions.
Troll 1. 'Inside Cards' or 'Outside Cards'. Calling one of these two will have every player on the table swapping their cards with players directly to their sides. Left inside or outside card goes to the left and the same for the right.
Troll 2. 'Peek a boo' you can look at any one card on the entire table. You cannot show anyone else, even if the the player who's deck you looked at does/ doesn't know it.
Troll 3. 'Half/ Double' you can hold onto the joker until the end as its value is 0. If you have the score 5 or under the Joker doubles it and if you have 6 or over the Joker halves it. If you have 2 Jokers in your hand the 2nd is still worth 0 and has no power.
Turn Around
If 2 of the same value/ number card are turned out on top of each other on the turned pile the player rotation immediately reverses and vice versa. This does not affect dealer rotation.
Its a really fun game and you can obviously add drinks to certain cards and have drink penalties if someone fucks up.
Get f*ed

Get To Know My OC
I saw this game going around, and I thought I'd join the fun! A few posts had an open tag, so here I am! I'm going to leave this an open tag for any of my followers as well (or anyone who sees this)
Choosing just one character is so hard... I think for now, I'll go with one of my favorites, Matthias Winterborne. He's not currently in any WIP, just an extra (DnD) character for now.
I sit in the local alehouse waiting for our new party member. He's supposedly very closed off, so I plan on asking loose questions today. Hopefully he takes them well. I look around for the person that was described to me: a young adult half-elf, tan skin, very short white hair, somewhat short for his race. And sure enough, he comes through the doors. I flag him down and we sit at one of the corner tables. I notice he's wearing a very nice looking pendant necklace. It's circular, with a crescent moon on the left and little snowflakes dotted around the rest.
"So, ready to start?" I ask.
He leans back in his seat, crosses his arms, and shrugs. "I don't see why not."
1. Are you named after anyone?
He scoffs. "First name, no. Not that I'm aware of. Last name, well, surely you've heard of my father: the great Elduin Winterborne, the Stellara's finest ranger." He makes a dramatic gesture with his hand as he says this. "My mother decided to give me his last name even though they were never married." "So why keep the name?" "To tarnish it," he says with a grin. I decide not to press further.
2. When was the last time you cried?
He furrows his brow a little. "Why is this pertinent information?" "It's not. Just looking for some honesty." "...Can I obstain?" "Yes you can." "Good."
3. Do you have kids?
"Nope. I don't have that sort of attachment, if that's what you're wondering."
4. Do you use sarcasm?
He smirks and tilts his head. "What's that?" I begin to wonder why my friend recommended this guy...
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
"Honestly, either wealth or if they're safe to interact with." Ah, that explains it. Well, let's hope he's good at what he does.
6. What's your eye color?
He rolls his eyes. "I thought this was going to be a lot more serious." "I wanted to ease any tensions first. To let you know we're not out for secrets or anything. We don't care about that sort of stuff as long as we know we can trust you." "...But out of all questions.." "Okay fine, here. How about this?" (Note: they're a very light blue)
7. Scary stories (movies) or happy endings?
He thinks for a moment. "I don't mind a good ghost story every once in a while. Don't really care for sappy stuff, but if it's interesting, I'll hear the tale out. I'm much more interested in legends and myths more than anything."
8. Any special talents?
He grins again. "Now we're talking. I consider myself quite skilled at twisting words, bending rules, that sort of thing. I've also become quite good at making escapes when needed." "Duly noted."
9. Where were you born?
"Just a skimpy little village on the outskirts of the high elven kingdom. Surprisingly mostly comprised of humans, and the occasional goblin. They're nice enough people if you can believe it."
10. What are your hobbies?
"Eh, gambling mostly. I do enjoy dancing every now and then." "So keep you away from our money, good to know." "I'll have you know I'm very good at it." "So says your wanted posters in the next town over." "...Next question."
11. Have you any pets?
"I wish. I'd like a dog or a fox of some sort."
12. What sports do you play/have played?
"I like to take on a round or two of fencing. I prefer saber over the other two."
13. How tall are you?
He takes a somewhat sharp inhale. "Now you're just being insulting." I take a grin now. "It's just a simple question." "...Don't see why it's important." "Honesty." He sighs and rolls his eyes. "...5' 8".."
14. Favorite subject in school?
"Well I didn't go to an actual school, I was taught those sort of things by my mother and the other villagers. I can't really remember what I liked most... Perhaps reading literature."
15. Dream job?
"...Not really sure. I never liked actual work. I didn't mind wood working, I suppose." "Well, I appreciate you being cooperative. It was a pleasure to get to know you. I hope we'll work well in the coming months." "Months?? That's how long this is going to take?" "Hopefully not, but you never know." He lets out a sigh. "Well, as long as I'm getting paid what I'm due."
This was quite fun! Anyone who want to join in is welcome to. These were the exact questions I saw everyone else doing, but you're welcome to change them to get more out of your characters. I may do more of these for other OCs (or even another for Matt using your questions!)

7 from the Women: Kate McDonnell
Kate McDonnell’s sixth album, TRAPEZE, is a captivating exploration of contemporary American life, weaving together themes of hope, self-discovery, love, and loss with an unmistakable sense of humor and resilience. Following the success of her 2021 album Ballad of a Bad Girl, TRAPEZE marks a bold evolution in her songwriting, offering 14 original tracks written over a prolific three years. The album’s songs strike with raw, cathartic truth, and their melodies become instant earworms, balancing sophisticated production with deeply personal reflections.
In TRAPEZE, Kate delves into universal topics—from confronting life’s purpose and overcoming self-sabotage, to surrendering to love and desire amidst chaotic times. Tracks like "Nowhere to Go" and "You Won’t Blow Away" capture the introspective journey of navigating anger and sadness, while songs like "All On My Own" and "Pretty Good Day" offer poignant moments of resilience, humor, and simple joys. Kate’s commentary on societal issues is felt in songs like "Step Right Up," where she powerfully addresses the impact of gun violence on children’s lives.
Recorded in the winter of 2024 by Jimi Woodul, TRAPEZE features a tight-knit band with Sam Zucchini (drums) and James Gascoyne (bass) rounding out Kate’s musical vision. The album's vibrant production, mixed by Andrew Oedel and mastered by Chris Muth, provides the perfect backdrop for Kate’s dynamic storytelling. Notably, Kate continues her unique approach to guitar playing—using upside-down-and-backwards techniques, adding another layer of individuality to her artistry.
With a career spanning decades, Kate’s journey has seen her open for musical legends, play at iconic venues like the Newport Folk Festival and Kennedy Center, and tour extensively across the U.S. and Europe. Now, as TRAPEZE takes flight, Kate is gearing up for another round of performances, bringing her new music to audiences both at home and abroad.
Join us as we chat with Kate, below.
1. What Have You Been Working To Promote Lately?(here you can showcase a track, an EP or a video – give us at least 150 words about it and a link)
I’ve just released my sixth album TRAPEZE. The fourteen original songs are rooted in contemporary American life, where hope, love and desire are never very far from the shadow of violence and loss. As a singer-songwriter, my goal is to combine music and lyrics in a way that makes you catch your breath, see yourself in a new way, understand something new. Of all my albums, this one’s production feels accessible to a wider audience—from Folk to Americana to Adult Contemporary and even Pop. For these new songs I wanted a fresh and sophisticated production, and I think we nailed it, me and my producer Jimi Woodul. Jimi can play almost any instrument, too. He’s the garam masala of the album.
Some of the songs bring up the rough feelings people can’t always express. I want listeners to understand they absolutely are not alone in having these thoughts. Our current isolation on social media and the obsession with a positive “brand” are not what we need as humans. This is no ordinary time.
2. Please tell us about your favorite song written, recorded or produced by another woman and why it’s meaningful to you
It’s nearly impossible to choose one song, but Bonnie Raitt’s Grammy-winning song “Just Like That” had me on the first few chords. Her story is simple and direct, and the twist in the narrative just pushed me off the cliff. You get the sense that she’s sitting on your couch playing it right to you, delivered with ache and experience. Just spectacular writing and spare music so well matched to the lyrics, it’s a perfect song.
3. What does it mean to you to be a woman making music/in the music business today and do you feel a responsibility to other women to create messages and themes in your music?
I’m excited to see the spotlight is shining more on women these days in the music business. Growing up in the 70s, I saw women like Joni Mitchell, Nancy Wilson, Christine McVie, women who were taken seriously as songwriters and instrumentalists, rightfully so. Nowadays, the level of musicianship among women is much higher than it was when I was starting to play.
When you talk about themes and messages, I feel like when I write about my own experience the message naturally rings true with the listener. My album’s title song TRAPEZE explores the voices inside of us that dominate our true voice, that voice deep inside that’s buried alive under layers of ‘shoulds.’ I take the responsibility seriously of telling the truth about my inner life, and that’s what connects these songs to the listener.
4 Additional Questions – Choose any 4
What female artists have inspired you and influenced you?
Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Rickie Lee Jones, Amalia Rodriguez, Cesária Évora, Jo Stafford, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday…..I could go on!
Who was the first female artist that made you want to create music / be in the business?
Joan Baez. I saw a record in my mother’s record collection with her on the cover, and I thought, “oh she’s so pretty, she must sound pretty”—assumptions heavily engraved by society—so I put the needle down, and that was that. I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. It was a profound and magical time when I discovered her at the age of 4.
What was the most challenging thing you have had to face as a female artist?
Sticking up for myself, feeling like I have to be nice all the time and submitting to others’ wishes have reared their ugly heads. I avoid conflict, and that just can’t be a missing skill for anybody in any business, but especially the music business. A good friend, a man, once told me that I was too nice, and that’s why I wasn’t further ahead in my career. That was a gut punch. And it was true.
If you could collaborate with any other female artists, who would you choose?
If I could reach back in time, I would want to collaborate with Jo Stafford. I love the texture of her voice and razer accuracy of her pitch and vibrato, not to mention her emotional control in her delivery. She’s right up there with many of the other greats, but there is something about her as a person who would make the whole experience easy, fun, inspiring, but also very humbling. She has a terrific sense of humor and confidence—she recorded an album “Cocktails for Two” with her piano-playing husband Paul Weston and sang all of the songs off key, on purpose! I mean, who would do that?! That would be the pitch-perfect Jo Stafford.
