Champorado chocolate rice porridge so delicious! It’s Spanish but Filipino makes it too. I think the spelling in Spanish is a little different.

What cheeses do you like best? I like pepperjack and mozzarella; the former’s delish on it’s own, and mozzerala’s the most versatile imo
Also don’t like cheese 😔
Another one that really sets off the Picky Eater in my brain, any time I even suspect there’s cheese in my food I cannot eat it anymore. I only like cheese as a Cheetos flavor
#the only things I actually eat are like– very specific cooked meats#plain dry rice or noodles. yam. cuscus (no idea what it’s called in other places)#and those are the only things I’ll have for lunch or dinner (oh. and also ramen and chocolate porridge)#then snacks are a case-by-case basis#mailbox

Wait. There are people making samporado with milk instead of water???????? I like it as dark chocolate by default, then whoever prefers milk chocolate adds evaporated milk on top of their individual bowls.
I think Mexican champurrado uses mostly milk (I've only had it once or twice; my lactose intolerance did not like that😅), but i thought Filipino samporado eventually became more like milk-less Chinese congee.
Also "samporado" is how my parents always spelled it.
Also, in America, instead of dried fish, we eat it with bacon or fried Spam. Once a donut shop caught me staring at their bacon sprinkled chocolate donuts and tried to explain that it wasn't weird. I told them it was a familiar flavor combo to me, because it's a traditional Filipino breakfast. lol

a quickkkk rough translation if anyone's interested:
"I put ketchup on almost all foods"
Artist Jere Pöyhönen is not a morning person and he uses the snooze-button, and you shouldn't ask for cleaning tips from him. In his daily life he tries to avoid unnecessary complaining, because at the end of the day things are pretty good.
In the morning when I wake up, I hit the snooze button and keep laying in bed. Sometimes I snooze for 1-2 hours if I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere. I am for sure a night person, so my mornings are slow.
For breakfast I usually eat porridge, to which I add peanut butter and honey, and with it I have a cup of berry tea. Breakfast is something I've tried to get better at, because when you're in a rush it's easy to skip it.
To me it's a luxury to spend relaxed time with my close ones. The best thing is to spend a slow evening with friends, for example a barbeque party. Friends and food - there's no better combo!
I get inspiration for cooking from my mom. Mom likes trying different foods, and everytime I visit I grab a few recipes for my backpocket. Last time I made a chicken and potato casserole dish inspired by my mom.
In my shopping basket you'll often find chili-cheese-sausages and an energy drink. The latter I've tried very hard to consume less. They're not good for your teeth or wallet.
My specialty dish is thai mince meat with rice. For seasoning I use oyster sauce, garlic, sugar, basil and chili. When I was younger I liked to bake a lot, but I stopped when I moved out on my own.
I wish I'd learn to eat more regularly, every few hours. When your job is being on the move, sometimes the times between meals get too long. When you're hungry it's easier to snack on treats, like chocolate and chips.
My normal home evening ends in front of the TV either on the living room couch or in my bedroom. Usually I always watch a tv show or a movie before bed.
My best money saving tip is buy discounted food items at a good price. Then it's handy to immediately put them in the freezer at home and cook later.
I scrimp on bread toppings, like cheeses and cold cuts. I'm not brand loyal with them and usually choose what i grab first.
I get fancy with my glögi, I am its biggest consumer! It's my favorite drink and I have it all year.
My everday superpower is that I don't take things too seriously. Everyday I am grateful for what I get to do for a living, and I don't ever take it for granted. In general I think it's good to avoid complaining too much and try to keep a positive mindset: at the end of the day things are pretty good.
I clean at home about once a week, but I admit, I could be better. I don't spend a lot of time at home, so sometimes my clothes get everywhere and the dishes get piled up in the sink. You shouldn't ask for cleaning tips from me!
My guilty pleasure is squirting ketchup in mince meat soup. It tastes excellent in there. In general I have ketchup with pretty much all foods.
My Pirkka hack is using baking soda to get rid of stains. It's especially great with textiles. With baking soda I've gotten rid of many stains and dirt off of the couch.
#käärijä#PHEW that was a lot of words#with probably a lot of typos but i aint proof-reading this no sirrrrrr#also he's just like me fr i'm always going on about everything you can use baking soda for lmao#baking soda is the answer to a LOT of things#also jereeeeee let's bake together you should get back to it!!

What I would feed HL characters and why
Because cooking food is the best love language
Sebastian Sallow - Beef bourguignon (French beef stew) with scalloped potatoes
(because that boy probably eats like a hobbit and I’m all for it.) (And an Onion soup for starters and a warm caramel apple pie with vanilla ice for dessert. He’s my favourite he gets the full course.)
Ominis Gaunt - Fraisier (French strawberry cake)
(because don’t tell me that boy doesn’t love sweets and especially fancy desserts. He’d try to hide his love for cute desserts tho.)
Garreth Weasley - Fancy Grilled cheese with cheddar and onion jam
(he is the kind of guy to always enthusiastically compliment the food but never remember what it was. Just that it was good.)
Leander Prewett - Bento cake with words of affirmation
(because he needs some reassurance. Like « you’re doing great », or « good boy » to fit in the small space ?)
Amit Thakkar - Dakgalbi (Spicy stir-fried chicken)
(I’m sure that poor boy suffers from being forced to eat British food everyday but I don’t want to insult his palate with my poor knowledge of Indian cooking. So Korean spicy chicken it will be, I bet he’d be eager to discover a new cuisine.)
Poppy Sweetings - Onion tart and a muffin
(all vegan because that girl would be vegan, and she needs food easy to eat while out while she cares for beasts.)
Natsai Onai - Cinnamon rolls with a hot chocolate topped with whipped cream
(because I’m sure her mother doesn’t let her eat too much sugar but she loves it.)
Imelda Reyes - Cacio e Pepe pasta
(because she needs her carbs as a quidditch player and she must like simple things. And she’d tell me I did it wrong, like Italians when you cook Italian food. Same attitude.)
Anne Sallow - Juk (Korean rice porridge) and brownies
(rice porridges in many Asian cultures are popular when sick, to give strength. And a yummy comforting dessert for that strong girl.)

Nerdy Prudes Characters as Filipino food!
The second coming because I couldn’t stay away
Steph - Lumpia
- A popular dish for a popular girl
- Lumpia’s typically filled with meat, veggies, and sometimes fish!
- An absolutely beloved food for anyone who’s tried it
- Steph would immediately put these on her plate if she saw them at a party
Pete - Champorado
- Imagine if hot chocolate was a porridge
- This was the most obvious answer for Pete
- He’d be eating this to get through the day
- I think he’d like evap milk better w/ his champorado, but has condensed milk for his blood sugar
Richie - Tocilog
- Richie gets a nice, full breakfast of sweet cured meat, eggs, and garlic fried rice
- Another beloved food for a beloved character
- I personally believe this man would instantly get hooked on garlic fried rice
- Like suddenly he’s having it with every meal
- Packs it in a bento box for school too
Ruth - Chicken Feet
- It’s not too freaky when you actually try it!
- Just give it a chance!
- Give Ruth a chance :(
- Alternatively, she is Filipino spaghetti in ways I cannot explain
Max - Lechon
- The life of the party
- The center of attention amongst the food
- Yk the party’s gonna hit when they bring Lechon
- Max would think it’d be so fucking cool if he pulled up to a party and saw it at the food table
Grace - Brazo de Mercedes
- Super light, super airy, an almost angelic dessert
- Brazo de Mercedes is a meringue roll typically filled with some kind of custard with powdered sugar on the outside
- A dessert befitting of miss chasity herself
- I can see Grace trying it at a bakery and being astonished at how fluffy it is
- It’s like a cloud in your mouth!!
- Must be what angels eat up in heaven

Jason Todd x Filipino! reader headcanons
A/n: i don’t care if this will be my most flopped post, I had to do God’s work
He would LOVE Filipino food
Jason is pretty open with food considering he has traveled frequently for work.
Being accustomed to seeing rice available even if it’s high in carbs lol. Started as a pancit (stir fried noodles) boy to a BIG garlic rice boy ever since you’ve introduced him to it.
Could see him really liking champorado (chocolate rice porridge) for some reason, since there is something so homey about it. Plus it’s not that sweet. He definitely have tried it with tuyo (salted dried fish) when you mentioned it but prefers it just the champorado alone.
Jason enjoys Jollibee most specifically the fried chicken, both of you have movie nights with a bucket on the coffee table with pineapple juice or alcohol. Would find Filipino spaghetti ‘meh’ cause it’s a bit too sweet for his liking but he wouldn’t mind it after a few more tries since there’s that child-like taste that makes it addicting.
Would 100% love lumpiang shanghai (Filipino spring rolls) and quotes as he explains it to Roy or any of his brothers ‘a way better version of Chinese spring rolls’, just like how you told him. He stops craving for the usual spring rolls if you guys go for Chinese take outs from then on.
Despite what the media depicts of having adobo (soy sauce & vinegar chicken stew), sinigang (tamarind stew) or ube hyped. He does think Filipino food is still very underrated compared to Thai, Chinese, Japanese etc.
Could also see him enjoying clear soup stews like pork sinigang & bulalo (clear soup with beef shanks & bone marrow) because of the homey taste versus the flavored stews but he definitely still enjoys them (also see him being a big kare- kare (peanut butter stew) lover by your influence.
Like every other man, he would be a sucker for San Miguel beer. He knew about it even before both of you were dating since there is a small Filipino town in Gotham. Considering he goes to different bars from time to time. He would enjoy the concept of food on sizzling plate but it would take time for him to actually try exotic street food specially Balut (duck embryo) lol. But he’s down for it!
Spicy White Boy
Canon- wise, he knows Portuguese and there are lots of similar words with Spanish. Which I’m sure he knows maybe the most basic and common sense ones; so Jason understanding a good amount of Tagalog shouldn’t be surprising but would baffle you when you find out he started learning bit by bit for you.
It is very impressive indeed, there are not a lot of good resources in studying it. However, Jason is a Wayne and if his father was able to learn Kryptonian. He would easily be in a level of fluency by time.
And being the intelligent simp he is. He would understand it in a good level in less than a year or two when both of you are pretty much ‘all in’ in the relationship. Especially when you brought up one time before you were both exclusive, that you were scared of the idea of your partner being left out in family events even if English is pretty much the second main language in the Philippines.
Though I feel he would have more confidence in trying to speak the language after a few more years including a few slangs cause he doesn’t want to handle the anxiety of being roasted by your family & friends even if he obviously has thick-ass skin.
You keep telling him that he has already won his parents approval (too fast) when he swoon them with just the use of ‘po’ and ‘opo’ the first time meeting them. Plus the very occasional whispers of ‘gwapo’ , handsome, or ‘matangkad’, tall, here and there would give him a mix of a sheepish ego boost.
Culture Differences
THE ‘NO SHOES IN THE HOUSE’ RULE is a mutual practice that both of you have no problem doing. It has always been a routine for Jason when he gets home and right away he would wash up just so he could be in bed with you.
The no shoes rule seems to be only followed by Alfred when he drops by with groceries for him in his apartment. It bewilders his siblings when he makes a big deal out of it even if they are just dropping by (uninvited as usual) but also more like so you wouldn’t get triggered if you get to meet them but frankly it triggers Jason more since he’s quite neat as a roomie (plus future hubby points too.)
THE FAMILY CULTURE in a Filipino household is usually a mix of chaos and laughter which Jason is quite familiar with but with your family he could tell how close all of you are from all the frequent get together celebrations or holiday trips.
But also he was told a few times from some neighborhood titos (uncle) when he was still in the streets that the number 1 rule when dating a pinoy (shortened term for Filipino) is if you’re ‘dating a Filipino you’re also dating their whole family.’ You even tell him when you show pictures of your immediate relatives and family, that it’s basically a whole village if you include your extended relatives which shocks him even more. You don’t even know who are all your aunts or uncles names nor your second cousins.
You gave him a heads up and number of pointers to Jason when you were both talking about your families plus the never ending group pictures and selfies that awaits. You get worried if he would be overwhelmed even if he tells you, “Doll, don’t worry you literally met mine” “It’s not the same.” With a kiss on your forehead and the cute pout he loves still present.
He immediately gets interrogated and compliments which takes him a back getting him a bit shy. Would vibe with your cousins and would be forced to sing. The karaoke machine playing till midnight, the never ending food being offered in his plate but also your baby cousins getting attached to him which you greatly adore. He would purposely annoy you with flirty gestures in front of your cousins just for you to swat his arm or his biceps multiple times getting a reaction from your comments mixed of ‘yiee’ or ‘landi!’(flirt).
SOUVENIRS in Filipino is pasalubong, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re materialistic it’s more of the thought when a person is away; may it be for family & friends.
Jason bringing home food or snacks when he goes out or something unique when coming from a long mission for you has been natural. You don’t expect him to always bring something home for you of course. Fortunately, Jason loves spoiling you and seeing you sulk when you rummage his duffle bag filled with used clothes and is helmet is too cute. Plus, this is definitely one of the first words he would understand besides the word ‘makulit’ (a neutral connotation of annoying, cheeky, and naughty combined.) and other cuss words.
The first time Jason brings you to the Wayne manor Alfred and Bruce immediately doesn’t see you as a threat especially with a bottle of wine or fruits as formalities. You panic a bit when both of you weren’t able to bring anything to the manor every time you go after that, he has to reassure you it’s fine. Though he appreciates and finds it adorable on how much his family becomes fond of you because of how genuine you are.
When you and Jason travel, you would be having an extra luggage for goodies and shopping and would get endless teasing from Jason. You would tease him back though if he needs something but you would also use his luggage as well if needed for everything you bought.

wilbur with a reader who loves ghibli or anime!
also can i be ☁️ anon? i was also the one who sent the reader with a fear of fire lol
Wilbur With a Ghibli Fan Partner!
Wilbur Soot x Gender Neutral Reader
Warnings: None :)
Hi again ☁️ anon! I’ve got a bit of an embarrassing confession to make… I’ve never seen anything Ghibli or anime before, with the exception of a guy I liked at 14 who forced me to watch the first episode of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure with him :’) I had to ask my lovely online friend for help with this since she’s seen it, as well as consulting Pinterest, so I apologize in advance if I mess something up!
Headcannons below cut!
~Wilbur hadn’t seen any Ghibli before he met you, but when you suggested watching one together for a date he was HOOKED!
~You started by showing him Ponyo.
~To go with the movie, you made honey milk and ramen, which Wilbur absolutely loved.
~Now he makes himself honey milk to relax after a long day in the studio or after gigs.
~About a week after you two finished Ponyo, he begged you to show him another Ghibli film.
~You picked Kiki’s Delivery Service, serving it with a plate of the pancake breakfast and some rice porridge.
~As a surprise, Wilbur made you two hot chocolate in some new Ghibli mugs he bought for you as a gift!
~Obviously, he loved this one too.
~Didn’t even wait until the credits rolled until begging to watch another one the next day!
~Spirited Away was up next, picked after Wilbur looked up a list of all the Ghibli movies.
~You two watched it with some sushi and a painstakingly iced sponge cake you made when he was in the studio that morning.
~Wilbur was immediately obsessed, as you predicted.
~Informed you that once he got out of the studio the next night, you two were watching My Neighbor Totoro.
~Showed up at your house with a big smile and an enormous stuffed Totoro.
~Seriously, the thing was about half the size of him!
~Made plans that very night to have a marathon to watch the rest of the Ghibli movies he had yet to see.
~Ends up being a bigger Ghibli fan than you, and you can’t help but grin whenever you see him excited over it.

Champorado Weather? ๑༄ ‧₊˚
If you're reading this and expecting a detailed "how to make a yummylicious champurrado," I am telling you, friends, that you are in the wrong place because I have no idea what I am doing in this champurrado series. Though I might have listed the ingredients and the chaotic procedure I encountered. Champorado is one of my go-to meals, whatever the weather is. It is a creamy, soft, °˖✧THICC✧˖°, and sweet porridge that will teleport you into the weaves of rainbows and sunshine. But I have to admit that my first time cooking this chocolate porridge was a total disaster. Because hunny, we like it thick, and the outcome was a waterfall. But I know this girl right here is a fighter and must not lose to a freaking chocolate rice porridge. So, I continued making it until I could make it even if my eyes were closed (but I will be opening them every 5 seconds, hehe). The good news is that I have mastered it; the bad news is that I don't measure things, so the list of measurements is in outer space.
There are a lot of tutorials on social media on how to make champurrado. I swear this will tickle every sweet tooth you have and comfort your body. This can be served as hot, chilled, or even at room temperature. The bonus point is that you can mix and match every side that suits your preference (a little tip for you is to pair the champurrado with something salty ≧◡≦).

hiiiiii work is wild today. so i have a question for you.
i'd like to hear about some of the different foods available in tcol!! regional delicacies, staple crops, rare treats... anything you can offer me.
or, alternatively, tell me about some of the main cast's favorite and least favorite foods!
oo this is an interesting question in the sense that food, flora, and fauna are like my least favorite worldbuilding things so... i tend to build them in such a "dude because i said so" kind of way. there is no rhyme or reason to it it just has to happen when i need to think of something LMAO
all of that to say this will be extremely all over the place PFF.
so the one food i DEFINITELY know exists is a labyrinth honey loaf, which is like... basically a sweet bread. i mention it in mukul's profile, because that's currently his biggest goal--to make the perfect batch of one of these. the reason it's so difficult to make is that it basically requires labyrinth honey, which needs to be tempered like chocolate. but its hard to temper because its slightly explosive if you cook it at the wrong temperature, or it just turns to uneatable sludge. its an absolute delicacy if you can make it correctly though and that's why he's very fixated on it atm. (he loves baking). so i think a lot of labyrinth foods from its strange flora and fauna are just kind of Like That. amazing if you know how to cook it but absolutely dangerous to try and work with LMAO.
when it comes to regional delicacies.... i gotta get more into the weeds of city worldbuilding. each major city in terrae is basically its own cultural center (though some influence each other; kingsburrow and lathsbury aren't too different culturally because they're so close to one another and were established at p much the same time in history) and i have somewhat vague inclinations about each of these... but its sort of next on my list of to dos.... my long... neverending list of to dos..... (y'all should see how long the timeline is now and if i told you how much shit i still needed to figure out... GOD) anyway though; i do know that Diisaians in general are huge drinkers.
in general, one of the first crops in terrae that existed was because of the god of harvest, alcohol, and partying KIBARUM waaaay back in like the 100s, when eros and argos were first being established. and that was a crop which i'm just worldbuilding on the fly rn but its kind of a cross between wheat and rice. like similar properties of both. don't ask me how it works, idk man. but its something that can be grown dry in one way and creates a certain staple grain, but the same crop can also be grown in marshy/swampy lands like how rice is grown (cuz eros and argos are very marshy/swampy) and it acts differently. a multifacted, fast growing crop that can be manipulated in a variety of ways based on the fact that in the early days of terrae, shit was BAD bro like 2/3 of the pop was passing away like every year or something ridiculous like that due to monsters until the citadel of Argos was finally finished.
but that's more into the history weeds and my forte and not related to the question at hand so i will steeeeer away from that.
said crop... which i will name eventually... can be made in a multitude of ways like i said like it can make breads, porridges, slurries, meals (like corn meal or grits), etc. its pretty much the basis for the terranean diet altogether because its so versatile. the only place where it doesn't grow is kiskkaddon because kisk is a giant "all consuming" desert. tm.
in kiskkaddon and diisai, speaking of, they're the only places on all of terrae where there are "wild monsters" aka monsters who were not driven by lath and ensio into the labyrinth, just bc those lands weren't connected to terraneans and terraneans ventured into those lands tm. they live virtually alongside monsters in these regions and have created cultures centered around fending off and killing these free roam monsters, who, tend to be weaker (but still a problem) than labyrinth monsters bc they aren't affected by the influence of either The Thicket or The Demon King (i'm just saying words at you now sorry). all of this to say, diisians and kisks are very good at cooking monster parts, better than other mainland terraneans.
i could keep going to stall but tbh that's a long enough rant. i need to figure all of this out more anyway, but first things first i gotta name this crop LMAO
