I wrote a book!

I wrote a book that I then formatted to be easier for those with dyslexia to read (following a dyslexia-friendly style guide). It is written with early readers in mind (second-graders were my target audience), but I am proud to say that it has so far been enjoyed by readers of all ages.

Synopsis: Jane Elizabeth and Will are ready to compete in their town’s talent show. However, a theft threatens to stop them from winning. Can they discover who stole Grandma Kay’s clock and win the talent show?

The book is titled "The Mystery of the Old Clock" in honor of the first Nancy Drew book

it was times like these, where you were sat in the back of a car, dolled up to the nines, when you wondered how you ended up with your girlfriend.

the two of you was en route to another awards ceremony that would be celebrating her (and her teammates) contribution to the footballing world.

you was her plus one of course, having dragged you to a couple beforehand over the course of your relationship. you weren't exactly the biggest fan of these events considering you was a very introverted person with an almost constant pit of anxiety in your stomach, but you knew how much they meant to Alex and what kind of girlfriend would you be if you weren't there supporting her?

when you first met her, at a club match you went watching for your childhood friend chloe, you already had a massive crush her. what you didn't expect was for the blonde to offer getting drinks sometime when kelly introduced you and the rest was history really.

so yeah, back to the present where you, a bartender, was keeping a strong grip on your football sensation girlfriend's hand, trying your best to keep your nerves under control. "i'll say it once i'll say it again; how do you do this all the time? how do the nerves not knock you sick?"

the older girl chuckled, "nerves turns into adrenaline - and adrenaline helps me play better." stating it simply and turning her head to press a light kiss on your temple. "you'll be fine baby; you always have me remember?" alex was aware of how your thoughts could spiral to the point of no return, how you would psychoanalyse certain situations and how you anxious you could get when in big groups like tonight will be. she knew exactly how to calm you down and for that you was thankful.

the car now pulling up outside the steps that lead to the building, a chauffeur opening the door for the blonde and you, alex got out and once again held her hand out for you to take. there was a few paparazzi/photographers outside behind the rope fences calling out your girlfriends name. "alex! alex!" "alex! whose the girl with you?!" "over here alex." after a few shots you was ushered inside where the place was already buzzing with people.

they'd gone for all white and gold decorations you gathered, having noticed the balloon arch mixed with the two colours, as well as white decorative roses scattered around in bunches and a champagne tower slap bang in the centre. you never understood the point of them if you was honest, the glasses are far too dainty to remove from the pyramid and just one accidentally nudge to the poor thing and it would come crashing down.

"y/n, alex, hiya." turning around to the familiar voice you see lucy, one of the blue-eyed girls national teammates. you liked lucy, she was one of the girls you clicked with the most when visiting alex at her european and world cup tournaments. "oh my god i feel like i haven't seen you in ages" you say as you went in for a side hug. "its only been two months y/n, has alex over here been boring you that much?" the brunette smirked while your girlfriend rolled her eyes playfully.

"she's been keeping me busy actually, last week she forced me to learn how to rollerstake for no reason." its true, the thirty-year-old was always convincing you to do the stupidest, most cheesy stuff but you don't mind. In fact, it's probably one of your favourite things about her seeing this goofier side compared to the more serious and reserved ones the fans got.

"don't act like you don't secretly love it." she said crossing her arms over her chest while you just giggled in response and pecked her lips. "i do sweetheart don't worry."

after some mindless chatter with the barcelona player, staff came out to escort people to their seats. the set-up was tables of six and you was happy to find out accompanying you on your table was mary, lucy, ella and her boyfriend joe.

complimentary alcoholic beverages were being given throughout the night which you indulged in as you watched the awards being presented one by one.

alex was up for some sort of team award if you remembered correctly, not exactly understanding the drabble of words she was saying when she first told you the news, you think its eleven people getting the same award or something if you took anything from the conversation. what you did know is that she had to go up against international players which makes the award even more special if she is to win.

the night dragged on as you listened to speech after speech after speech. eventually, the time had come for 'FIFPRO Women's World 11' "that's it." you thought to yourself as the man read the title of the honour, now recalling alex telling you about fifa's women starting eleven.

"now introducing your women's starting eleven team!" the massive sliding doors opened up, revealing the ladies one by one. An overwhelming sense of pride engulfed you as you watched your partner stand on stage in her very sexy suit (if you do say so yourself) with trophy in hand. with a quick few lines from each girl, they made their way back to their seats. standing up, you beamed at alex and placed your hands on her cheeks "i'm so so proud of you." she leans in and kisses your lips, smudging your red lipstick slightly.

"you in the mood for celebrating later?" parting away from your lips, she whispered in your ear. you could see her eyes filled with lust which meant only one thing. offering to get out of there, alex and you say your goodbyes to your friends/her teammates. To be honest the ceremony was dying down anyways so it was only a matter of time before you actually did leave.

as soon as your front door closed hands grabbed your waist and pressed you onto the wall. lips attached to your neck, biting and sucking at the skin as you gave in to the quiet noises of pleasure before they found your mouth once again.

the kisses were sloppy and eager as the defender swiped her tongue across your bottom lip gaining entrance into your mouth, tongues in a fight for dominance.

she stopped. dragging you by the hand into your bedroom and pushing you onto the end of the bed. this time, she snaked her hand under your top, reaching up to massage your breast. "you're beautiful you know that?" alex watched in amusement as you tried to stay quiet while she pressed her knee up against your centre. "tell me what you want princess."

literally just the words she was saying was enough to send you over the edge if you let it. "i want- i want you lower." the breathlessness in your voice made the blonde smirk, complying with your wishes. she made her way down to your pants menacingly slow, undoing the button and sliding the silk material off until they were disregarded somewhere in the room. "can i just say, I'm practically naked and you're out here still in your suit." as much as you loved the suit, you'd much rather be seeing her toned abs right now.

taking the hint, she quickly thew the outfit off, now hovering over you in just her black lingerie. "better?" she asks and you nod, shamelessly raking your eyes down her whole body.

the man city player busied herself with tracing patterns up your thighs, getting dangerously close to your centre without actually touching it. "alex please."

toying with the elastic on your thong she looked up at you. "please what? i want to hear you say it." the lust was practically oozing out of her mouth right now. slotting her hand under the mesh material of your underwear she repeated herself, "say it y/n."

your brain was going into overdrive from the teasing she had given you; your chest heaving. "alex..please fuck me already."

she caught your lips in a passionate kiss. "good girl."

Mason told you today he wanted to bring you to a dinner date at his house, and you as a person who could't said no, you agreed to. What could possibly go wrong anyway?

You jog upstairs to your room and the linked closet room to see a black box with gold ribbon laid before you on the accessories drawer. You carefully pull open the box to see a long and elegant pink maxi dress neatly tucked

You present the dress in front of you feeling giddy and bubbly to wear it for today's special occasion.

You did your make up not too long after, putting on the dress and get your 'M' initial necklace and a pair of eggshell white pearl dangling earrings. After that you put your hair on a neat low bun and strands of hair at the front curling it a bit.

Satisfied with the look, you grab a purse along with a few of your necessities and then left the house.

Mason on the other hand started to grow more anxious, his polo-collared shirt is beads with sweats, his hands is shaking, too scared for your reaction and his family but he knows none of it won't be too negative but he'll get nagged from both parties.

His family are still preparing the dishes while his father and his brother in law on the hall talking business, him on the other hand has been quite nonstop looking out the window to see if your car had parked outside his residence.

'Guys, dinner's ready!' His sister, Chloe announced 'Mason come on--'

'I invited--'

The front door bell chiming, the whole family turns up to Mason 'Friends coming over?' He gulps, his mom head shake at the weird behavior of his son and gets up 'Let me get the door!'

'I'll do it, mom,' He rush to the door, his whole family is still eyeing him, he could see it from the corner of his views

He opens the door welcoming you, you squealed giving him a long chaste kiss on the lip and his cheeks. A series of 'What?' and a shrieking 'Oh' comes after that, you peep from his shoulder seeing his whole family looking at you both, well partially you...

You gapped in surprise, eyes going back and forth between Mason and his family. The mother came up to you first 'Gosh dear, you must be Mason's girlfriend,' She laugh immediately easing the tension, you gulp eyes burning holes into Mason as she drags you over the table and strike an immediate convos. His father joined in and soon his sister

'So how long you to've known each other?' She questioned you, you awkwardly chuckle 'It was't long, eight months I think? We met during an award show, I was the host and we had short interview together..' You blurted out, Mason beside you smile along and confirming it.

It was like that for the next past hours, his family opening up to you, especially his mom, she's very supportive, very reliable and caring too, easy for a timid person like you to even talk to her.

The day went by fast, and soon they left, you rolled your eyes at Mason and went back inside the house 'Wait babe--'

'What?! You got me meeting your family while I'm like this..' You pouted at him and he laugh, clasping one hand over your waist 'Like what..? You look decent.'

'Am not, I would've put more effort if I know it would be a dinner date with your family... I know I said that I'm ready to meet them whenever but not surprising me like Mase!' You complained, hand crossing over your chest getting sulky

He crooks a small smile and kiss your hand 'Well it went well innit?'

You suck your teeth and dismissed the topic 'Whatever but next time you gotta tell me first so I can prepare gifts or something...' He hums and followed after you inside the house

'You could say that all my family are fond of you, especially mom..' He admitted with a toothy grin, you mirror his expression and nods 'I think so, not too bad am I? Do you think they'll approve me to be part of the Mount family?' You joked sending a giggle his way, he froze for a second before he wraps both arms around you 'Yeah, they won't mind that, I think mom will definitely say this "the sooner the better" don't you think?' You flush down to your neck as Mason laughs at your unexpected reaction 'So cute!' He cooed scooping you up and bringing you to his bedroom

After their notable absence from the MAMA awards, VENUS graced the 2023 Melon Music Awards with their presence and too much fanfare. Stepping onto the red carpet in Versace with all their dresses being from the vault. Constellations were happy to see the girls in matching attire for the first time in what felt like forever at an award show, as usually Baebi would be styled to stand out amongst her members whilst under Angelico. Gold Versace necklaces and earrings accentuated their looks, giving them an elegant and high-fashion appearance.

VENUS' seven-minute stage was described as "a concert-like experience," with the girls often interacting with the crowd during their performances. It was also noted that the girls sang 100% live with little backing vocals, making the award show feel even more like their show. Though there weren't many crowd shots during the broadcast, through fan cams of other groups, it was clear to see other idols enjoyed their performance as much as the girls enjoyed performing.

Starting off the performance was a solo performance by Baebi. Originally starting with the instrumental of "Baebi's Revenge" and her silhouette illuminated by a bright blue screen behind her, the music quickly glitches out along with the screen behind her, leaving the arena in complete darkness and silence. Then, the stage lights up again, this time a mixture of bright colors illuminating a smiling Baebi. "Are you ready, MMA?" Baebi shouted into her microphone. The crowd erupted into cheers as the instrumental of her hit single "Bubble Pop!" began to play.

During the performance, Baebi adlibbed a lot, her favorite phrase being "Let me hear you, MMA!" as well as egging the crowd on to dance and sing with her. The performance was high energy and a fun experience for Baebi and the audience.

After a dance break, the stage goes black once again with a slowed-down instrumental of their newest single, "DRAMA," beginning to play as they presumedly get the stage ready for the song. With a flash of light, Chloe, Jiah, Bliss, and Sena are on stage in suits while Baebi is presumedly off stage getting into costume.

They do a short dance number as four, and their backup dancers have microphones and flashing cameras as props. Chloe is the center of this dance break, giving a confident performance that distracts the audience from Baebi sneaking back on stage in a matching suit, joining just in time for a feedback sound to play through the arena. Chloe looks around with a cocky smirk on her lips before shouting: "Make some noise, MMA!"

The performance starts at the chorus, with each girl giving a strong and exhilarating performance. Though, the performance of DRAMA doesn't last long. After Sena counts down from 3, the beat changes into one no one has heard before. Bliss, slightly out of breath, struts down the stage with conviction, undoing the belt around her waist to reveal a sparkly silver two-piece outfit, the other girls joining her and following her actions and revealing their silver outfits as well.

"I hope y'all don't mind...We wanted to play a new song for y'all," Bliss attests to the crowd, smiling excitedly as she looks to her side at Jiah who lifts up her handheld microphone.

"We just wanted to remind everybody..." Jiah smirked as the five of them stood center stage in their usual V formation. When Jiah looks at Sena, the youngest smiles brightly at her before turning towards the crowd.

"I am the best," Sena sings, ushering in a new beat. Each girl sings the line before the beat drop hits, and the girls begin their performance. They revealed their second pre-release single, I AM THE BEST at MMA, releasing the song on streaming platforms as well as releasing the music video. The song was a massive hit because of the MMA performance, which was just as high-energy and confident as the rest of the performance.

VENUS' stage was praised for its energy and unwavering stage presence. Netizens said they made the MMA's "The VENUS Show," and they weren't mad about it. Twitter was flooded with videos and screenshots of the girls during their performance, many calling it the highlight of the night.

baby....they SWIPED this award show, like, they were not here to play!

twitter was calling them the female bts. it was crazy. of course, constellations got up in arms about that but it was a compliment!

it was the first award show venus had attended in a LONG time so they were a bit rusty on how to act jfsdnfjsd

on the red carpet, bliss had to direct everyone on where to stand and how to pose even adjusting chloe's position at on point to "better the shot" which had all the girls laughing instead of posing.

opposed to previous award shows in the past, the girls looked actually happy to be at the MMA's. jiah would go on to like a tweet saying "they're smiling because they're not at angelico." with a picture of the girls smiling and laughing in their seats.

they were sat next to shinee which was a big moment for all of them seeing all of venus are massive showls. in their Instagram posts after the show, all the girls would post selfies they took with the shinee members.

despite winning a lot of awards that night, the girls only got emotional when accepting record of the year and artist of the year. chloe and baebi getting the most emotional for obvious reasons. it was a crazy year for them.

jiah's acceptance speech went viral because of her crying in the midst of it. "i want to thank-ah!" she'd start before being overcome with emotions, slapping her hand over her mouth and turning away to begin crying. bliss and sena could be seen laughing at her as they rubbed her back. it's now used as a reaction meme between constellations.

when chloe won the songwriter award, she was gagged. truly, no other word for it. when the camera went to her, her jaw was on the floor while the other venus girls were jumping and cheering around her. after a minute, she snapped out of it and did a full 90 degree bow when she stood up.

"i never thought i would be recognized for my songwriting...i didn't even write a speech for this because i thought it was too crazy for me to win this award. i seriously can't believe it. i think i'm going to throw up when i get off stage," chloe would go onto say in her acceptance speech before laughing. when the camera went back to the crowd, baebi was recording on her phone like a mom while laughing and crying for her friend.

the girls went crazy for every performance, seriously, they were having SO much fun! even with songs they didn't know, they were going crazy. they went the craziest for shinee, riize, ive, and kiss of life!

"i really can't believe i got to see shinee at an award show in 2023...isn't that crazy? i thought it was crazy. i couldn't believe they were real," bliss would go onto say during a live she did once she got home, taking her makeup off.

the girls all did lives when they got home to talk about their night and it had constellations in a frenzy because everyone was conflicted on who's live to watch dskjfnskfd their views kept fluxating because constellations were bouncing between girls.

You know what - Marinette should do what Gabriel asked and make sure Adrien only remembers “the good times” he had with his father. It’s only fair she honor the poor man’s last wish after everything he went through

And I want her to continue honoring them, as she and Adrien throw out all of Gabriel’s things from the manor - commissioned paintings, his suits, that godawful desk, everything.

I want her to do this as Adrien renames the company and does a complete rebrand of it. He has slides installed in the new break room and a moviehall and gives everyone full benefits. The employees love it.

I want her to do this as the alliance rings get destroyed and the materials recycled into other items like cars or computers.

(She doesn’t even bother extending an invite to Tomoe. The pleabargin she made allowed her to remain on the board of directors but the position’s held in name-only mostly)

I want her to do this at their next class reunion, where they celebrate Kim’s recent gold medal and him finally realizing Ondine was proposing the last 4 months, and Bustier cries big wet tears at the bouquet they give her thanking her for the years of guidance.

I want her to do this at their anniversary, as their friends joke about how long it took them to get this far and congratulate her on her new fashion line and Adrien on the children’s charity he’s setting up with Mylene and Prince Ali’s help

I want her to do this as Chloe celebrates her new job and tries to make a huge speech, only to have to toss the whole thing out because Zoe and Nooroo kept crying and interrupting her. Sabrina jokes it was a “very Chloe-like” speech and deserving of a toast. (Neither make reference to their parents at their individual events. Chloe cut contact with Audrey ages ago and Zoe refused to speak to Andre after he missed her graduation getting caught money laundering with one of his films, and only talks to her own father when unavoidable. Besides, these are their accomplishments to celebrate).

I want her to do this after the birth of her first child, and she and Adrien argue that yes, that is the middle name we want to give them. (Marinette asks again if this is what Adrien wants, and he says yes - because that name should be given to someone who will leave it a much kinder and better legacy)

I want her to do this during their 15th anniversary heroes day celebration, where she and everyone thank the city for their support and bravery during all the ups and downs they faced, and promises to never stop being their heroine.

I want her to do this at Fu’s funeral, where she thanks him for all the guidance he tried to give her, and apologizes for not keeping in touch more (Him and Marianne never officially wed, but they are buried next to each other with matching inscriptions. Su Han comes to pay his respects, and is surprisingly broken up over it, muttering about how he won’t miss “old chicken legs” while clearly crying)

I want her to do this when she brings her kids over to the bakery and Tom is more than eager to teach them proper kneading techniques so they can “properly inherit the store” while Sabine rolls her eyes.

I want her to do this when, while out with her oldest, Gabriel drags his boney ghost hide out from hell (because lets be honest, ain’t no way Gabriel earned a ticket to the pearly gates with his rapsheet) to scream at her because “What have you done? This isn’t what I asked for!”

I want her to do this when she replies “What ever do you mean? I did exactly what you ask.”

I want her to do this as he cries “You haven’t! Adrien was supposed to remember what a good father I tried to be! You were supposed to make sure that after the wish, he would only think of me as a hero - but instead, he’s completely forgotten about me, as has the rest of the city!”

I want her to do this as she look at him, eyes cold, and says “Right after you finished with your wish, I found Adrien as Ladybug. I told him about how I fought Monarch, and how I saw his father die after the battle. The reason Adrien’s “forgotten” you is because even in this new world you built, you still prioritized your own selfish wants over your own child, and failed to leave a single good memory for him. If you son doesn’t try to think about what a “good father” you were, then that’s your own fault. ”

I want her to lean in real close, unblinking, as she tells him - “After all, You can’t remember something if it doesn’t exist .”

I want her to step back and watch him seethe, completely unbothered as she gives him a polite smile “But don’t worry Gabriel - unlike you, I am a bug of my word. I’ll make sure Adrien continues to “remember” the good and kind man you were, just like you wanted.” and beam as her eyes sparkle with determination “And not just him - our children, and their children, and their children, and everyone afterward, they’ll only “remember” what a kind person Monsieur Agreste tried to be. Not a single person in the city - nay, the entire world, will ever even bother to think about the horrible villain you became in your last moments, because they’ll be too busy trying to remember when was the last time you tried being an actual human being.”

I want her to tell him goodbye and call for an exorcist to properly send him back to the underworld (One of the friends Fei made during her travels was visiting if she recalls. Apparently, they’re used to dealing with the undead on the regular) as he rages, trying to bargain and manipulate her again. I want her to watch happily as he’s banished back down below and tells him to call in advance next time he wants to make a surprise visit. I want her to take her child back home and call Adrien, telling him that she’s feeling like pizza tonight.

I want her child (Emma Gabriel Dupain-Cheng) to look up at her and ask who that strange transparent man she was talking to earlier was.

I want her to look down on her with a smile and say “No one worth remembering dear.”

And I want none of them to ever forget this.

alt Chloe has a gift for alt Max

Max and Chloe went to the bow of the cruise ship, to enjoy the setting sun. Max noticed that there was a small present box resting on Chloe’s lap, wrapped up in a bow.

         “I have something for you, Max. Open it!”

         Max untied the bow and removed the lid. Inside there was a wreath made out of dark green oak leaves, with a few acorns still attached.

         For an obvious reason, Max watched a lot of movies with Chloe. Some weeks after moving to Seattle, they started watching “Rome”, an HBO series taking place in the ancient days of the Eternal City. There had already been multiple seasons made and more were on their way. Max and Chloe liked the series very much and they steadily devoured episode after episode, season after season.

         In one of the early episodes, young Julius Caesar, still a mere footsoldier, saved the life of a comrade-in-arms. For that he was presented with a “civic crown” - a wreath of oak leaves. That prized award was handed out as a symbol of ultimate achievement - saving a fellow Roman’s life. It was made out of leaves, not out of gold or silver, because saving a life was considered to be an award in its own right. Max remembered that she geeked out hard after watching that episode, because the battle in which Caesar earned his civic crown took place at the city of Mitylene on the island of Lesbos, which was the home to the famed poet Sappho. The island is also the place where the novel “Daphnis and Chloe” by Longus is set, which is a story of two young souls who were raised together, but just as they were about to understand that they loved each other, were separated by cruel fate. But in the end, after many, many hardships, including an abduction by pirates, they were reunited and married.

         At Chloe’s side Max quickly learnt that geeking out was okay. In her Vortex Club days Max mistakenly believed that one should be blase about everything to come off as cool. Now she knew that caring about things and especially about other people was not only cool, but it was the only way to gain meaning in life.

         Listening to Max’s geekout about Lesbos, Sappho and ancient romance novels, Chloe smiled and nodded. But Max noticed that she wasn’t smiling with her eyes. At the time, she thought that Chloe was simply tired or that she had another one of her headaches. But now she knew what was the reason. Seeing young Caesar carrying his friend’s limp body, a rain of arrows falling all around them, must’ve reminded Chloe of the Storm.

         Chloe explained the contents of the box: “It’s an award for saving a life. Like you saved mine. In more ways than one”.

         Max touched the wreath with her fingertips.

         Chloe continued: “Obviously, I didn’t pick them myself. Remember how a few weeks ago Kristen and Fernando took me to the park when you had to stay late at work? They helped me pick the leaves. And make them into a wreath. And tie a bow on the box. While it was customary to use leaves from the place where the deed took place, you don’t have to worry. I know you don’t want anything to do with Arcadia Bay, not after the revelations about Jefferson and Nathan. These are decent Seattle leaves”.

         Max gazed at the wreath, as if mesmerized.

         Chloe fretted: “I’m sorry, I know it’s silly …”

         “No! It’s not silly”.

Looking her wife deep in the eyes, Max placed the wreath on her own brow. “I feel like a triumphing emperor. Your life, our love - those are the only things worth fighting for to me. Thank you for this gift, Chloe. I will never stop fighting for us”.

Chloe smiled and said: “During a triumph, an emperor always had a servant at their side, telling them that they were only human. That was to remind them that even in their moment of triumph they were merely mortal. Now, in your moment of triumph, I’m telling you - you are more than a human. You are my angel”.

         “Chloe, I don’t know what to say”.

         “Kiss me, then”.

         After their lips parted, Max kept gazing at her wife. Chloe’s head was crowned with a golden halo placed on it by the light of the setting sun. On the day of her wedding reception, Max should feel joyous and hopeful. She should dream about the future. She should feel like it was the first day of the rest of her life. And she did feel that way. She was full of joy and hope. She imagined all the beautiful moments of love ahead of them. But she also felt fear and unease. She knew they were living on borrowed time.

         She grabbed Chloe’s hand and placed her other hand on her wife’s cheek. Chloe, who had been looking over at the sea, smiled, finding Max’s face to be an even more pleasant view than the sun rays dancing on water.

         Max spoke, utmost determination on her face, honesty and power in her voice: “Chloe, we already swore to be with each other until death parts us. Now I’m taking another oath. I swear to be with you always. I won’t allow anything to part us. I won’t let our love be broken by death. I won’t let it take you. I don’t know how, but …”

         Chloe wished she could touch her wife. To reassure her. But she couldn’t. She could only use her words.

“Max, you have already saved me from death. You have saved both my body and my soul. Before you came back, I wished only for death. Now I only wish for life and love. Life with you. Your love. You’re right, what we have is too strong to be broken, even by death. So I swear to be with you, always, too”.

         They kissed again, two silhouettes against the setting sun, their dresses blue as the sea.

Interesting that whole thing ended up hitting Olivia way harder than Harry, if it even hit him at all; I'd argue it did not. Fucking sucks to be a woman. (“Life was always easier on you than it was on me.”) 

I tie the secret message for 1989’s “Wildest Dreams” (“He only saw her in his dreams”) to this one because of the line “But I’d visit in your dreams/And they tried to warn you about me.”

The hologram with the multiple people running fingers through the persons hair reminded me of the music video for “Lights Up.”  

I was immediately reminded of “Exile” at the line “you saw my bones out with somebody new (Calvin Harris at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards) who seemed like he would’ve bullied you in school/and you just watched it happened.”  

Side note: I love the play on words with “you saw my bones out” as in the action of watching versus the action of sawing. Genius.  

Also, is she talking about herself as bones because she was at the height of her eating disorder then? :/

I don’t think it’s Peter’s perspective, as some have theorized. I think it’s Taylor’s.

Clearly not Travis. Once again, I feel like everyone has lost their minds and ability to comprehend words. The football references are just metaphors, coincidental in hindsight.

She’s talks about someone, likely the muse, seeing her like heroin, but this time with an E, like a heroine (get it?).

And she talks about getting together with someone from her past. Not meeting someone new. “This happens every few lifetimes.” “What if I told you I’m back?…I haven’t come around in so long? I’m coming back so strong.” “Hey, you, what if I told you we're cool? That child's play back in school. Is forgiven under my rule.” This is a ex who fucked up when they were young that she feels like she belongs with, and she is running back to after a long time away.

I had thought at first this was about Matty, but he’s not on much of a winning streak. H is, though. Also, @foxes-that-run reminded me of Harry’s old “sign in his heart” (his the love banner tattoo).

I think this is also about the muse of Peter Pan. I have seen people say it's about Robin Williams or a child/Aaron Dessner's kid, but she put it on her Apple Music "Denial" playlist. Also, the "slow ticking clock on a string," like the one Peter Pan uses to bait the crocodile? I think it's just another song about how Harry won't grow up but their group of friends all love him and coddle him anyway. Now, to me, that makes sense on the denial playlist.  

Interesting that this song and "Fresh Out the Slammer" both talk about swing sets.  

Also, the trampoline reference reminded me of Harry's line from "Little Freak," "golf swing and a trampoline, maybe we'll do this again."

For the second year in a row, a non-north American team was in the finals, and Czechia women capture silver for the first time !

Chloe Primerano, in her first U18 WWC tournament, broke the record for the most points by a defender in tournament history with 16 points. She had 8 goals and 8 assists

Adela Sapovalivova, in her last u18 tournament, finishes as the highest scoring Czech player in u18 women’s world championship history; after a tournament where she adored 9 goals and 2 assists she finishes with 16 goals and 10 assists in 26 u18 WWC games. Forward Tereza Plosová finishes just a point behind her with 25 points in 26 games.

17 year old Finnish player Emma Ekoluoma continues her big year, with 8 goals and 3 assists in 6 games.

To me, the best goaltender was between Aneta Senkova (czechia) and Livia Debranova (Slovakia.) Senkova had the fantastic game against Canada where she made 45 saves. She finished the tournament with a .913 save percentage in 297~ minutes played and 139 shots against. Debranova was also spectacular playing 281 minutes and a .915 save percentage with 201 shots against

Star player Nela Lopušanová (Slovakia) unfortunately saw less ice time than expected due to illness, according to her coach

17 year old Italian forward Matilde Fantin was the top scorer, with 7 goals and 4 assists in 5 games. She currently plays in the SWHL as well, and will be key for an Italian team gearing up for the Olympics in two years

15 year old (!!) forward Umeka Odaira of Japan had a clutch tournament, with a hat trick in the game that got them promoted to the top division. She finished with 9 points in 4 games. Defender and captain Kohane Sato also had a spectacular tournament, with 6 points in 5 games and stellar two way play. Goaltender Haruka kuromaru was also a difference maker, playing all 300 minutes of the tournaments, and ending with a .962 save percentage

born into a family of two highly successful individuals  :  father’s career residing in politics and her mother being a world class cardiothoracic surgeon ( think ellis grey ) who refused to ever be the “ quintessential housewife and mother “ , excellence has been expected from selin from day one .  with her mother barely even acknowledging she has a daughter considering her job always came first , selin spent most of her time with her father , with whom she shared a bit closer connection even though he too was far too busy to be a true parental figure , so most of the time ?  selin was all alone in a large house , raised by nannies .

she started to participate in professional tournaments at the age of 15 , making her wild-card entry in the west classic ( california ) , shockingly coming in second place and almost defeating then 19-yeard-old american in finals .  just two years later , as a qualifier ranked no.96 , she defeated a no.3 in quaterfinals in australia open , from which point her career skyrocketed .  

problem occurred however , when selin met her  MCDREAMY . she fell for him hard and fast , and it didn’t just scare her -- but those around her , especially her coach who saw him as a big distraction . he soon dropped on one knee , promising to follow her to the ends of the earth if she asked  &  for the time being , selin really thought she could have it all :  a career  & a loving marriage , opting to believe in happy ever after even if she did grew up scarred in a loveless household . ( tw : miscarriage )  however , that all changed when she became pregnant .  the news turned her life upside down and while her husband was over the moon -- she didn’t see herself as a mother , not at this point in her career .  fights ensued about it , but it wasn’t until selin suffered through a miscarriage that their relationship started to go sour .  with him saddened and her relieved , they became distant , strangers in their own home after realizing their ideas for the future weren’t the same . it all made selin be the first to leave , opting to give him a  “ an out “   :  technically , they’re still married , while she still makes up excuses as to why she doesn’t sign the papers when they’ve been separated for years .   

now at the age of 28 , her career statistics include a total of 53 wins in singles ( including grand slam , summer olympics , WTA tour championships , grand slam cup , WTA tour )  and 23 wins in doubles , known around the world for her powerful serve and forceful groundstrokes and for currently holding a no.1 spot -- but hey to get there she sacrificed everything so ...  *cue sad violin*

Nominees Announced For The "54th NAACP Image Awards" Airing Live Saturday, February 25th At 7:00 PM CT On BET

Today, NAACP unveiled the full list of “54th NAACP Image Awards” nominees with ABC and Netflix leading the pack with 28 and 15 nominations respectively. The winners will be revealed during the two-hour LIVE TV special, airing Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at 8:00 PM ET on BET and 8:00 PM PT on delay. The show will be in front of an audience for the first time in three years.

 Netflix and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever lead nominations across the motion picture categories with 15 and 12 nominations respectively. ABC and Abbott Elementary received the most nominations in the television + streaming categories with 28 and nine nominations respectively. Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar are tied for the most nominations in the music recording categories (5 respectively). RCA Records / RCA Inspiration received the most nominations across record labels (11). Penguin Random House and Harper Collins lead nominations across literary categories (9).

Hart and Hunter - Chapter 16 - Part 1

Despite Dane's attentions, I wake up in pain and after a light breakfast, I decide to take Chloe's advice.

The urgent care is mercifully empty and I don't have to wait long to be seen. 

A couple of X-Rays reveal Chloe was right... I've got two hairline fractures and I need a partial cast.

That takes a while and the nurse keeps asking me weird questions about my home life while I wait.

Finally, with a brand new cast and a prescription for painkillers in hand, I rejoin Dane, who's been waiting for me in the café across the street. 

Now that my arm no longer hurts, my appetite returns and I grab a pastry and a coffee before we head for his car.

Awkwardly juggling several items with one hand while trying to open the door, I drop the bundle of papers and pamphlets the nurse had given me.

I'd thought it was just instructions for the proper care and wearing of a cast but as Dane bends to collect them, I see she'd slipped something else in as well. 

"Domestic violence?" he lifts his brows at me as he examines the pamphlet.

My face warms as the nurse's strange questions make more sense. 

"I said I tripped." 

"Hmm. And the injuries are probably more consistent with a twisting motion than with an impact," Dane says, rubbing the back of my neck with his free hand.

"Speaking of, you sure you're up for this? You don't have to talk to him in person, you know. In fact, you don't have to talk to him at all." 

I know what he means and shake my head. 

Ian Foley and I had a history... one I'd only barely managed to put behind me in the past year.

I'd forgiven him for hurting me and I was glad he'd finally moved on and forgiven himself as well but seeing him still raised painful memories. 

He'd also helped save my life last year and lost his father in the process.

Dane would say he didn't deserve an award for acting like a decent person but I knew he'd changed at least as much as I had since the brief time we'd been together. 

"He could have valuable input," I say.

"And some things are easier to explain face to face. Besides, what if he's on grandma's hit list?" 

"Eh," Dane shrugs.

"You win some, you lose some."

 I shoot him a look but bite back a smile.

Ian's not his favorite person, either. 

"Come on," I say, handing the rest of my things to him as I climb into the car.

"Play nice and let's get this over with." 

Ian Foley is tall and bulky, with red hair, a beard,and a patch over one eye, he looks like a cross between a Viking and a pirate and dresses like a lumberjack.

His remaining eye is bright blue and when he Shifts, he takes the form of a great bear.

He'd agreed to meet us at Lagrange's shop for a proper investigation of the tunnels.

We're expecting Halloran to join us but I'm surprised to see that Ian has brought his new boyfriend, Sam, along as well. 

After losing his Dad, Ian had taken off on some kind of soul-searching trip up north.

I'd honestly thought he hadn't meant to come back but he had... minus an eye and plus Sam.

They were clearly happy together and I didn't grudge either of them that. 

Sam is short and slender, with sleek black hair, dark eyes and pale gold-toned skin.

He looks too young to have anything to do with Ian's thirty-something but apparently, half his consciousness belongs to an ancient demon and he holds his own.

He's got the larger man wrapped around his little finger, anyway, which is proof enough. 

Ian waves and smiles as we approach, while Sam's expression remains guarded.

I don't know Sam all that well, but it seems he's got something of a possessive streak.

Which I suppose makes sense, for a demon.

"Ian, thanks for coming and Sam," I offer what I hope is a warm smile.

"I don't know if we'll find any ghosts down there but I'm glad you're here, too." 

Sam frowns at me.

"I don't just 'see ghosts.' If there's anything demonic, I'll sense it, as well as portals to 'fairy-hell' or whatever. I'm just here to keep Ian safe, anyway." 

I glance at the larger man, whom I've seen fight off multiple werewolves single-handedly and hope the skepticism doesn't show on my face. 

Ian flushes a little and rubs the back of his neck as his eyes stray to my fresh cast.

"Sam's a little worried about this killer grandma of yours, is all. Sounds like she's got a grudge."

"Sounds like she may have a right to one, from what we've gathered so far," Dane says.

"You know anything about that?" Ian shakes his head.

"Chloe filled me in last night but none of it rang a bell," he sighs.

"I've said it a hundred times and I'll say it a hundred more but I wish my Dad were here. He knew all the family legends and lore... not just ours but other Clans, too." 

"He didn't happen to write any of it down, did he?" Dane asks. 

"Nah. It was, uh... 'oral tradition, he called it. S'posed to pass it down in stories, father to son." 

"But he never did?" 

"Uh, well..." Ian flushes as red as his checkered shirt.

"He might've but I don't recall." 

Dane scowls, Sam bristles and I move to intervene. 

Ian probably has at least one learning disability, which is only one of several reasons he might not remember things.

Before I can speak up in his defense, however, Halloran arrives, followed closely... to my surprise... by Ingrid, Chloe and Grace. 

Suitably distracted, we turn to greet the newcomers and make introductions. 

"This isn't a guided tour, you know," Halloran says, eying the three women doubtfully.

"It'll be dirty and possibly dangerous down there and we don't know what we'll find." 

I wince as I see three pairs of eyebrows lift at his words but Dane surprises me and speaks first. 

"I can vouch for them," he says.

"They've all got useful skills or knowledge and we'll have safety in numbers." 

Halloran frowns but nods.

"Very well. We'll go in pairs then. I think I've brought enough torches for everyone." 

He opens the bag of gear he'd brought along and hands small flashlights around.

I also glimpse a pair of helmets, lengths of rope and some equipment I recognize as climbing gear but can't name. 

"What's that for?" I ask. 

"The cavern," he says.

"Just in case we discover another passageway." 

Inside, Dane pulls back the rubber mat concealing the trapdoor and opens it.

The square of blackness in the floor yawns wide and Sam shrinks back with an expression of distaste. 

"What is it?" I ask, wondering if there might be ghosts after all but Ian slips an arm around Sam's shoulders. 

"You don't gotta go down there if you don't want to, darlin'," he says in an undertone.

"I'll be just fine." 

"Nope," Sam shakes his head stubbornly.

"Where you go, I go, remember?" 

I bite back a smile.

Part demon or not, I don't know how a guy who gives off kitten vibes plans to protect a guy who can turn into a bear.

Then again, like most of our friends, there's probably more to Sam than meets the eye. 

"Wow. This is amazing," Grace exclaims as we descend the steps into the tunnel.

"The Historical Society would kill to get down here. Well, not literally." 

"Maybe literally," Chloe counters.

"I've been to one of their meetings, remember?" Grace giggles and the sound echoes up and down the tunnels like a flock of small birds.

She covers her mouth with her hands in apology but no one minds.

I certainly don't... the place seems far less creepy and forbidding, with a group of friends at my side and Dane at my back.
