In this comprehensive guide, we will explore what chiropractic roller tables are, their benefits, types, features to consider, and how they can transform patient care.
Tumblr media
What Are Chiropractic Roller Tables?
Chiropractic roller tables are specialized treatment tables that incorporate rollers or belts to perform a variety of therapeutic movements. These tables can be used for spinal decompression, myofascial release, and other therapeutic techniques. The rollers facilitate gentle stretching and mobilization of the spine and surrounding muscles, making them an effective tool for pain relief and rehabilitation.
How They Work
The primary function of chiropractic roller tables is to provide a controlled, rhythmic motion that helps to:
Release muscle tension: The rollers can help to alleviate tightness in the muscles surrounding the spine.
Improve circulation: The gentle movement increases blood flow to the treated areas, promoting healing and recovery.
Enhance spinal alignment: By facilitating movement, these tables can assist in correcting misalignments and improving overall function.
Benefits of Chiropractic Roller Tables
Chiropractic roller tables offer a range of benefits that can enhance the treatment experience for both practitioners and patients. Here are some of the key advantages:
1. Enhanced Pain Relief
One of the most significant benefits of chiropractic roller tables is their ability to provide effective pain relief. The gentle rolling motion helps to release tension in tight muscles and reduce discomfort in the spine. Patients often report a decrease in pain levels during and after treatment sessions, making roller tables an excellent addition to any chiropractic practice.
2. Improved Range of Motion
Regular use of chiropractic roller tables can lead to increased flexibility and range of motion. The controlled movements help to stretch and mobilize the spine, which can be particularly beneficial for patients recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic pain conditions. Improved mobility can enhance overall quality of life and promote a more active lifestyle.
3. Stress Reduction
The soothing motion of roller tables can have a calming effect, reducing stress and anxiety levels in patients. This relaxation response can be beneficial for those experiencing chronic pain, as stress can often exacerbate physical discomfort. Incorporating roller tables into treatment plans can create a more holistic approach to patient care.
4. Non-Invasive Treatment
Chiropractic roller tables provide a non-invasive alternative to more aggressive treatment methods. For patients hesitant about traditional chiropractic adjustments or those who may not tolerate manual manipulation well, roller tables offer a gentle and effective solution. This aspect can expand patient accessibility and comfort.
5. Versatility in Treatment
Chiropractic roller tables can accommodate various treatment techniques, making them versatile tools in a practitioner’s arsenal. They can be used for:
Spinal decompression: Helping to relieve pressure on intervertebral discs.
Myofascial release: Targeting tight fascia and muscles.
Rehabilitation exercises: Assisting patients in performing therapeutic movements safely.
6. Increased Patient Compliance
The comfort and effectiveness of roller tables can lead to higher patient compliance with treatment plans. When patients feel better during and after sessions, they are more likely to attend regular appointments and engage in their recovery process. This can ultimately lead to better outcomes and satisfaction with care.
7. Enhanced Practitioner Efficiency
For chiropractors, roller tables can streamline treatment sessions. The tables often allow practitioners to perform multiple techniques simultaneously, reducing the time needed for each session. This efficiency can lead to increased patient throughput and overall practice productivity.
Types of Chiropractic Roller Tables
Chiropractic roller tables come in various designs to meet different therapeutic needs. Here are some common types:
1. Standard Roller Tables
These tables feature a simple design with adjustable height and various roller settings. They are suitable for general use and can accommodate a range of treatment techniques.
2. Flexion-Distraction Tables
Flexion-distraction tables are specialized for spinal decompression therapy. They allow for controlled flexion of the spine while incorporating roller mechanisms to enhance the treatment process. This type of table is particularly beneficial for patients with herniated discs or chronic back pain.
3. Massage Roller Tables
These tables combine traditional chiropractic features with massage capabilities. The rolling mechanism can provide therapeutic massage to the back and surrounding muscles, offering a dual benefit of chiropractic care and relaxation.
4. Pediatric Roller Tables
Designed specifically for children, these tables are smaller and often feature softer rollers for gentle treatment. Pediatric roller tables can assist in treating various conditions in younger patients while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Features to Consider When Choosing a Chiropractic Roller Table
When selecting a chiropractic roller table, several features should be considered to ensure it meets the needs of your practice and patients:
1. Adjustability
Look for tables that allow for easy height and angle adjustments. This flexibility ensures that practitioners can tailor treatments to individual patient needs and preferences.
2. Roller Design
The design and material of the rollers play a significant role in the effectiveness of the table. Consider tables with adjustable roller intensity and different surface textures to accommodate various treatment techniques.
3. Weight Capacity
Ensure the table can support the maximum weight of your patients. Most chiropractic roller tables have a weight capacity ranging from 300 to 600 pounds. Checking this specification helps avoid any issues during treatment.
4. Build Quality
The materials used in constructing the table should be durable and easy to maintain. Look for high-quality frames, upholstery, and rollers that can withstand regular use in a busy practice.

Any Chronic Pain Management Ideas During Coronavirus?
Are there any other chronic pain sufferers who regularly use chiropractic visits and massage therapy to help manage their chronic pain who are having a tough time now that these types of places have closed down and will remain closed for the foreseeable future due to coronavirus? What are you doing to cope and manage the pain instead? I suffer from fibromyalgia, arthritis and bulging discs in my spine, sciatica, migraines, tmj. I’m already doing yoga, acupressure mat, foam roller, cbd oil, heating pads and ice packs, hemp cream, turmeric, magnesium & vitamin supplements, epsom salt baths, etc.
I’ve been looking at massage devices on amazon, as well as possibly purchasing an inversion table. Any suggestions for these types of products? What’s worked for you or helped you?

Choosing a Chiropractor
Visiting a Chiropractor is a great way to get back into shape without any pain. This non-prescription form of therapy is non-invasive and very affordable. It is also a great way to regain mobility. Here are a few tips for choosing the right chiropractor. The first thing to do is to find out what they specialize in. Some chiropractors take x-rays, which are not necessary.
Tumblr media
Chiropractic is a non-invasive form of therapy
A chiropractor is a medical professional trained to provide gentle adjustments to the spine. This type of therapy treats problems affecting the nervous system, including back and neck pain, headaches, and sciatica. It may also improve your overall health by reducing stress on the nervous system. According to the American Academy of Pain Management, chiropractic care is a cost-effective alternative to drugs and surgeries. Chiropractic care can be beneficial in a wide variety of situations, including chronic low back pain.
It is a non-prescription form of therapy
Although it is not a prescription form of therapy, chiropractic doctors are not allowed to prescribe any kind of medication. Chiropractors use various hands-on therapy methods, including instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, Graston Technique, and pin-and-stretches. They also employ light electrical pulses that are transmitted through electrodes placed on the skin to treat muscles. While some forms of electrical stimulation are more effective than others, they all work to reduce pain and promote joint health and range of motion. Patients must be sure to follow the prescribed exercises or risk injury recurrence. Those who do not comply with the exercises prescribed by a chiropractor may not see the results they seek.
It is an affordable form of therapy
The cost of chiropractic treatment is generally very low, especially compared to many other types of health care. However, you may have to pay for special tools. Some chiropractors use electronic equipment, such as traction tables or roller tables. This equipment may cost a little extra, but it can help reveal issues such as muscle atrophy and reduced function due to joint or spinal problems. Some chiropractors even offer electromyography, a procedure that uses electrodes placed over the patient's skin to detect painful electrical activity.
It helps people regain mobility
Regardless of the cause, chiropractic helps people regain mobility by restoring muscle strength and flexibility. During the treatment, patients are required to perform certain daily exercises and stretching routines to relieve muscle tension. These exercises are very effective in reducing muscle tension and improving range of motion. Although chiropractic treatment can help patients eliminate chronic musculoskeletal pain, it is not a cure-all for a wide range of mobility problems.
It reduces chronic pain
Research suggests that chiropractic can reduce chronic pain. In addition to addressing musculoskeletal disorders, chiropractic care improves general health by treating chronic pain. In a study, chiropractors helped a 61-year-old female patient with a history of low back pain reduce her pain intensity and improve her overall functional capacity. The primary reason for the patient's referral to a chiropractic clinic was an injury resulting in multiple surgeries. The patient reported taking over 20 prescription painkillers in her lifetime and experiencing chronic low back pain.

Rolling Your Way to Recovery: The Science Behind Chiropractic Roller Tables
Tumblr media
Chiropractic care has become increasingly recognized as an effective approach to addressing musculoskeletal issues and promoting overall wellbeing. Within the realm of chiropractic treatments, innovations such as chiropractic roller tables have gained attention for their unique ability to provide spinal adjustments and promote healing through controlled movement. In this article, we will delve into the science behind chiropractic roller tables, their benefits, and their role in facilitating recovery and improved spinal health.
Understanding Chiropractic Roller Tables
Chiropractic roller tables, also known as roller beds or roller therapy tables, are specialized devices designed to deliver controlled movement to the spine. Unlike traditional manual adjustments, roller tables employ a mechanical approach to provide gentle and continuous motion to the spine, promoting spinal mobilization and alignment.
The core principle behind chiropractic roller table is to stimulate the body's proprioceptive response, which involves the nervous system's ability to sense changes in joint position and movement. By gently moving the spine in a controlled manner, roller tables activate the body's natural healing mechanisms, encourage blood flow, and facilitate the relaxation of tense muscles.
The Science Behind Chiropractic Roller Tables
Chiropractic roller tables operate on the concept of cyclic loading and unloading of spinal segments. The mechanical movement of the table causes the spine to experience a rhythmic stretching and releasing motion. This movement has several scientific benefits:
1. Spinal Mobilization: The cyclic loading and unloading of spinal segments create a mobilizing effect on the spine. This can help improve joint mobility and flexibility, particularly in areas that may be restricted or stiff.
2. Neural Stimulation: The motion generated by roller tables stimulates the nerves within and around the spine. This stimulation can enhance nerve signaling, improve communication between the brain and body, and support overall nervous system function.
3. Fluid Exchange: The rhythmic movement of the spine facilitates the exchange of fluids within the intervertebral discs. This exchange supports disc hydration, nutrient supply, and waste removal, contributing to disc health and integrity.
4. Muscle Relaxation: Roller tables promote the relaxation of tense muscles by providing gentle movement and reducing muscle tension. Relaxed muscles can lead to improved comfort and reduced pain.
Benefits of Chiropractic Roller Tables
1. Gentle and Non-Invasive: Chiropractic roller tables offer a gentle and non-invasive approach to spinal mobilization. The controlled movement is well-tolerated by patients, even those who may be apprehensive about traditional manual adjustments.
2. Enhanced Blood Flow: The mechanical motion of roller tables encourages blood circulation to the spinal tissues. Improved blood flow delivers essential nutrients and oxygen to the area, supporting the body's natural healing processes.
3. Improved Joint Mobility: Roller tables contribute to improved joint mobility and flexibility by targeting specific areas of restriction or stiffness in the spine.
4. Relaxation and Stress Reduction: The rhythmic motion of roller tables induces relaxation and reduces stress. This can have a positive impact on overall wellbeing and mental health.
5. Support for Various Conditions: Chiropractic roller tables can be used to address a range of conditions, including back pain, muscle tension, and restricted spinal movement.
Incorporating Chiropractic Roller Tables into Practice
Chiropractors incorporate roller tables into their practice to provide patients with targeted and comfortable treatments. A typical session involving chiropractic roller tables includes:
Patient Evaluation: Chiropractors assess the patient's condition to determine the suitability of roller table therapy.
Setup: Patients lie down on the roller table, and any necessary adjustments are made to ensure proper alignment and comfort.
Treatment: The roller table is activated, and the patient experiences gentle and controlled movement along the spine.
Monitoring: Chiropractors closely monitor patients during the session to ensure their comfort and response to the treatment.
Conclusion
In conclusion, chiropractic roller tables offer a scientific and innovative approach to spinal health and overall wellbeing. By providing controlled movement to the spine, these specialized devices stimulate the body's healing mechanisms, promote joint mobility, enhance blood flow, and induce relaxation. The benefits of chiropractic roller tables extend to their gentle nature, improved joint mobility, relaxation, and versatility in addressing various conditions.
If you're considering chiropractic care, consult with a qualified chiropractor who utilizes chiropractic roller tables as part of their practice. The integration of roller tables underscores the commitment of chiropractors to providing effective and patient-centered treatments. Through the use of these tables, chiropractors empower patients to embark on a path of recovery, improved spinal health, and enhanced quality of life.

Top 5 Knee Exercises
Knee pain happens when something turns out badly with your knee joints and muscles surrounding the knee. As a rule, this happens due to meniscus damage or tendonitis with possible overuse. Exercising is important for any person’s overall good health. However, for people with moderate or severe Knee pain, we recommend an SF chiropractor’s assessment first.
CALF SMASH WITH LACROSSE BALL
This move enables you to work out tension in both your calf and your hamstring. Sit on the ground and pull your right foot near your butt, so your knee is bowed. Wedge a lacrosse ball (or yoga/massage ball) underneath your right knee, sandwiching it between your calf and hamstring. Make a “pressure power” by pulling your shin toward you, at that point, turn your foot in alternating round movements to help make space in your knee joint. Proceed until you feel tightness in these territories being relieved, at that point switch legs.
HALF-KNEEL HIP & QUAD STRETCH
This stretch feels astonishing, yet it additionally double-duty for your hip and quad muscles. Kneel on one knee (don’t hesitate to put down a towel or mat) with your other foot planted level on the ground before you. Make near a 90-degree edge with both of your legs. Lean forward toward your front leg, extending the front of your hip descending. Next, grab the ankle of your leg planted on the ground, and force it toward your back for a profound hamstring and hip stretch down the front leg, right to your knee. Move all through this stretch for 10 to 15 reps or more.
QUAD FOAM ROLLER STRETCH
Tumblr media
Lie face down and with a foam roller under your right leg, directly under your quad. Put most of your body weight on your leg, and roll gradually. Rather than basically moving here and there, run your leg from side to side as well, concentrating pressure on the more tightly spots of your muscles. Switch legs. Keep moving until this feeling is no more pain. It might be impossible (as it may be for some runners!), do it for five minutes.
WALL HAMSTRING STRETCH
Tumblr media
Lie faceup with your left leg level on the ground, foot flexed. Take your right leg and prop it up on a wall or table, or utilize an obstruction band. This stretch should radiate down the back of your leg, starting in your knee. When you locate the most profound purpose of the time, exchange in five-second groupings among contracting and loosening up the foot of your right leg if you have more noteworthy adaptability, hold the ankle of your right leg and force it toward you. Go for 10 to 15 rounds of five-second holds, and Rehash with your left leg.
STRAIGHT LEG RAISE
Tumblr media
Simple strengthening activities, similar to leg raises, put next to no strain on your knee yet, also, activate and reinforce quadriceps. Lie faceup with one knee bent and the other leg the ground before you. Lift your straight leg around one foot, pivoting your leg outward (the whole leg turns outward, so toes point on an oblique rather than straight up to the roof). Complete three arrangements of 10 to 15 reps, substituting legs. As you get stronger, add ankle loads as much as 10 pounds.
These do-it-yourself knee exercises have helped our patients greatly. If you are still having trouble finding knee pain relief, you may be a good candidate for our treatments. To schedule an appointment with our San Francisco Chiropractor, please call 415–421–1115 or book an appointment online.

What is Intersegmental Traction? It is a way of inducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints, increasing mobility. How does Intersegmental Traction work? The patient lies face up on a bench table which has roller-type cams beneath its surface. These rollers can slowly travel the length of the spine, stretching spinal joints. What does Intersegmental Traction feel like? Most patients find this form of treatment to be relaxing and very helpful. The gentle rolling action is restful, exercising the spine without effort. Why is Intersegmental Traction used? Since discs have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints. Fixations prevent this natural circulation and can cause disc thinning and degeneration. Intersegmental traction helps increase and restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine. #getadjusted #tulsa #gonstead #chiropractic #ist #intersegmental #traction (at Schluter Chiropractic)

Hi, I found your post about an equestrian exercise program really helpful. Would you still be willing to share more about your workouts in general? I don't have access to a gym, but what core and hamstring exercises would you recommend? Could you perhaps also share which stretches you use? I've tried researching things on my own but I'm unsure whether I'm really doing the right things and whether I'm performing them right. Thanks for all the good info!
(So sorry for the slow response, my school schedule has beencrazy lately!)
Hey there! so glad you found the information helpful! Sure, happy to share :) Here are some of the things in my program that my personaltrainer/fellow chiropractic student and I developed together; my programusually involves high intensity interval training because I am a runner too soendurance is one of my primary objectives. I tried to provide good alternativesif you don’t have access to a gym and wanted to give these workouts a try.
Upper body days:
1. Alternating dumbbell bench press (4 sets of 12-15 reps)--Push-ups would work a very similar muscle group
*1 minute HIIT exercise of choice in between sets*
2. Single arm dumbbell row (4 sets of 12-15 reps)-- If you don’thave access to dumbbells, I highly suggest getting some cheap resistance bands-these are a really cheap and easy alternative and can be used anywhere. You caneven hook it on your foot and do these standing. Otherwise, you can really justhold anything and increase the number of reps if the weight is low. A fullbackpack, a box with a handle, etc.
*1 min HIIT exercise of choice in between sets*
3. Ultra set: 3 rounds
-Renegade Row with push-ups (1minute): These are HARD and can be done from the knees if necessary (or shouldI say WHEN-- I have yet to be able to do this workout without ending updoing “girl push-ups”). With dumbbells, you hold them as you do a push-up,then from plank position raise one arm in a row, put it back down, and do anotherpush-up before performing a row on the other side. Without dumbbells, evenwithout weight I think this would probably still be a killer workout. if youreally want the weight you could use a circular resistance band held in bothhands so that the hand doing the row stretches the band while the hand on theground holds it, or find a heavy sturdy object around the house to use.
-Lat pull down machine (10-12 reps): This isanother one that the band would work well for-- you could loop it aroundsomething overhead, have someone hold it, or put it on a door handle and sit onthe ground. Pull down and back, drawing your shoulder blades down and together, and slowly release.
     -bicycle crunches (45 seconds)
-HIIT exercise of choice (30 seconds)
Repeat x 3
Lower body days:
1. Back squat with weights (4 sets of 12-15 reps): Squats aretotally great and still effective without weight, just increase the reps. Makesure you are always squatting with good form-- there are lots of good videos onYouTube for squat form (and for all these moves)
*1 min HIIT exercise of choice between sets*
2. Single leg dead lifts: I highly suggest watching a video forproper form on these ones because they can be a little tricky, but they areINCREDIBLY effective for hamstring strengthening and require little to noweight to be effective. They are awesome for both hamstring strength andstability. As a runner, this is probably my very most important exercise. Youcan use light weights (a full water bottle, etc) once you are stable but Isuggest the first few times you do it starting out with no weight until youfeel more stable (at least, I had to at first. I fell over a good few times thefirst few weeks :))
*1 min HIIT exercise of choice between sets*
3. Ultra set-- 3 rounds
-Box jumps (1 minute): you can use anythingstable for this. A coffee table you aren’t super attached to... a chair (IF youhave it somewhere safe and sturdy), a ledge at a park... etc. Just make sureyou pick a safe height so you don’t end up whacking your shins-- that is theWORST!
-Wall sit, 30 sec-1.5 minutes depending onweight. You can challenge yourself by holding something heavy like a backpack.
     -Mountain climbers (1 minute)
Options of HIIT exercises: Alternating high-low planks (core), Bearcrawls, jump rope, push ups, burpees, standing long jumps (quads andhamstrings), lunge jumps (quads and hamstrings), Squat jump (ditto), high kneesin place
Core circuit: 5rounds, all to failure with 30s, 45s, 45s, 60s rest in between rounds
1. Heels to heaven (lying leg raises driving hips off the groundand heels to ceiling)
2. Lying scissor kicks
3. Plank on elbows
4. Bicycle crunches
5. Crunches
Stretches:
My biggest thing right now as a runner is foam rollingregularly. If possible l highly suggest investing in a foamroller (I have the Proper Foam Roller which I love and you can get for as low as $22 online). Foam rolling is a really good way to loosen up tight areas without having to do a ton of crazy stretches. Others that I usually incorporate in are Pigeon stretch, Seated spinal twist put right foot flat on the floor on the outside of the left leg, use your left arm to push on the right leg until you feel a stretch), Seated wide leg forward bend (sit with legs spread as far as possible and reach forward-- make sure to keep your back straight, this one takes looots of time to get better at), and just basic hamstring, quad, and calf stretches. Another big one if your shoulders tend to roll forward at all (whose don’t, right?) is a pec opening move-- with your shoulders and elbows both at 90 degrees pointed upward, put your forearm in a doorway and move your body forward until you feel a stretch in your pec muscles.
That was a lot of information all at once haha I tried to make up for my lack of timeliness with volume of information :) Hope that is of some use to you! Thanks for the question, if you have any more please feel free to ask and I will try to get back to you quicker this time :) Hope you have a great day!

Enjoy a Never Before Experienced Flexibility
Not being able to pick up a cup of tea from the table in front of you can be really vexing. If it also means that you can’t easily turn your head to view someone who has just entered the room, then it means you should seek professional help. Falls, accidents, lifting heavy loads, even change of season are some of the reasons any person might suffer from stiffness and pain in the shoulder. You have several treatment options which differ in terms of efficacy, cost, side effects, and long-term impact. You might find the chiropractic line of treatment the most congenial.
Service with a Difference
Quite a few times one gets distressed more by the attitude of the care provider than by the line of treatment. However, the best chiropractors put you at your ease by focusing all attention on you. They don’t begin with preconceived notions. They will recommend shoulder chiropractic adjustments in Kanata only after listening to your symptoms, taking measurements, studying your x-ray plates, and usually it will be done in conjunction with spinal adjustments. They understand that just reducing pain or getting your shoulder more mobile can’t be the only concern. You don’t want the issue cropping up again.
Accident generated pain: If the distress is an after effect of an accident, then greater care must be exercised to ensure that any muscular injury which is deep seated gets an opportunity to heal properly.
Multi-Pronged Approach Proves More Beneficial Remember, your long-term health is a reliable chiropractor’s aim. No good chiropractor plans a line of care while does not take a holistic approach. This is why neck and shoulder pain treatment in Kanata does not rely only on adjustments, but complement them with any of the varying kinds of massage available. Depending on the age, weight, size, and complexity of the pain, the chiropractor will suggest the use of hot stones, manual massage - using a relaxation technique or a therapeutic massage of varying pressure, or even foam rollers.
Care tailored specifically for you:
Instead of prescribing identical lines of treatment for everyone who shows up, the finest chiropractor knows that your care plan should be carefully tailored to your needs. Therefore, neck and shoulder pain which arises from bad posture and/or stress is usually treated with relaxing massage which not only releases the stiff and sore muscles, but also stimulates circulation. This in turn releases internal hormones, while flushing out toxins. After a round of treatment, you begin to enjoy a flexibility you’ve never experienced before.

From July 7, 2017 Hey, remember how, like, two days ago I was all "fuck you concussion, I'm kicking your ass, I'm getting better, party on Wayne"??? Well, yesterday my vertebrae slipped. Sooo... the chiropractic treatment I've been receiving (upper cervical) focuses on realigning my top two vertebrae, which is super important because those little fuckers house your brain stem. So when I eventually slip (I am holding longer these days) it's like my brain is a gong that has just been hit with a mallet. Not only is there physical pain and insane energetic vibez, I also get to re-experience a whole host of concussion symptoms, including, but not limited to, anxiety, brain fog, visual disturbance, insomnia, and depression that can last for days, even after I've had it corrected (this am). I've been laying on my massage table crying most of the day. It's almost comical. This is my fucking life. This insane roller coaster where I am terrorized and held captive by my own body. Days like today I feel like I am running a marathon waist-deep in mud, and there is nothing I can do but wait, and try to remain hopeful, that someday (hopefully soon, I'll become the person I used to be, I miss that person, I miss that life.) If you're out there, and you're struggling, I feel you.
