One of the things I very much hate about modern AUs in MDZS is how the fic writers Americanise everything about the characters until the only thing Asian about them is their name.
#mdzs#I think the no of fics that properly research their cultural background and history and I've actually loved#I can count on one hand#no because really why is WWX is speaking in American slang and why is everyone forgetting that#They. Are. Chinese!#they will be most of the time be speaking mandarin thank you very much#I do hate the Straight boy Wei Ying fic writers make him out to be#come to think of it#this happens in most fandoms#I took a peek in the first few fics in omniscient reader's viewpoint fandom ao3#and what do you know almost all of them have Kim Dojka as an oblivious dumb idiot#like people will really erase all the complex aspects of a character in order to idiotify them for the 'dumb oblivious idiot' trope#and have all of their friends and family be there for the sole purpose to be exasperated with the main characters being oblivious about each#others' feelings#because obviously they know better about these two people feel and their relationship than the characters themselves#not that these can't be done well and asking for relationship advice is nothing out of the ordinary#but when it's like the characters have to be hammered over the head with “he likes you!” like they can't figure that out themselves is..#very annoying#wei wuxian#lan wangji#mxtx

Okay, but this whole thing about RedNote and how content creators I have a lot of respect for are looking like absolute tools over spreading the misinformation that the app is named after Mao's Quotations is a real disappointment.
How is it we know that Chinese culture has a lot of red, that literally dates back centuries, as a symbol of happiness and prosperity, but simultaneously think a shopping app is red because communism.
The misinformation is real.

Life is so unfair there are so many shitty shows out there with a dub and Banana Fish never got one and its been 6 years now
#somebody really needs to stand up and do it because its insane literally every other anime has an english dub#while bf is placed in america and the characters speak english most of the time#and theres no dub#???#although if there was one it would probably suck but idk#its kinda hard like how ash has a trace of irish accent but he also has to have a new york accent like#and eijis accent is hard to acheive like its supposed to be there but you cant make it racist#and i guess his american accent would appear as the show goes on#also they would have to speak japanese here and there like how eiji and ibe speak it sometimes so japanese VAs are a must#chinese too for shorter sing yut lung and lao#nadia too probably#its hard thats why theres a huge chance it would suck but with a little bit of effort they could make it work#but id watch the english dub either way idgf#i just want to see the scene where eiji teaches ash japanese dubbed#banana fish#asheiji#ash lynx#eiji okumura#ash x eiji#gay#lgbt#banana fish the stage#bananafish#anime#manga#bfish#eislan
