The Tower by GarbagePlanet - Two ways the Stratford Tower chapter could’ve played out differently for our boys.

Dying Will Immortalize Me or Show My Humanity by RedWritingHood -  Basically, Connor remembers his death after one of his transfers and it affects the events of the game. I love the ending so much.

Not Today by indelibleink89 - It’s Connor’s first birthday and Hank wants to do something nice for him, but life has other plans. Fluff with a little bit of angst.

(I hope you know that) you’re my home by bilgegungoren00 - Hank’s poisoned out in the field, and Connor has to face the possibility of losing him.

After by satockery - Connor deals with the loss of Sumo and then the loss of Hank, and it hurts in all the best ways.

Rupture - After a violent confrontation with a suspect, one of Connor’s minor biocomponents is damaged. He thinks his self-healing system will handle it, but uh. It doesn’t.

You Can’t Fight Fire with Fire by ahyperactivehero - Hank, Connor, and Sumo try for a relaxing getaway in the woods, but with people still prejudiced against androids it’s not much of a vacation.

A rose by any other name by onesaltydemon - Connor needs to choose a last name.

The Sun Will Shine on Us Again by SociopathicArchangel - Pretty much Hank reflecting on how much better life is with Connor around during different moments of his life. It’s super cute and heartwarming.

There’s More to It by kodaandorion - If you’re looking for a sequel to the game that focuses on Connor and Hank’s investigations and explores questions that were left unanswered about rA9, the RK prototypes, and the nature of Connor’s deviancy in comparison to other androids, this is that sequel.

Father and Son by The FlyingWriter - Two idiots want to be family but are bad at feelings. No in all seriousness, this fic really dives into the intricacies of Connor and Hank’s dynamic, exploring both of their characters’ thoughts and feelings and wants. I love it.

Beyond the Machine by a_platypus - After a bunch of androids start going missing in Detroit, Hank and Connor are sent undercover as father and son to investigate a potential cult across the Canadian border. This fic is SO GOOD. It’s been abandoned for a while so it’s unlikely to ever be finished, but I PROMISE YOU it’s worth it just to read what’s been written. This might be my all-time favorite fic in this fandom.

Bonus:

Cha-cha sliding into those dms by presidenthomewrecker - Normally I don’t rec humor fics, but this is the most well-written humor fic I’ve ever come across. Connor downloads a millennial slang dictionary to make himself more relatable to Hank and shdfhjgsjg I cry laughing every time I read this. It’s so funny.

@chiliad-lucerna zarkon and honerva: oh a slippery slope? lemme get a sled then

Going off of what you've been saying about Zarkon and Haggar/Honerva, I've likened quintessence to the super soldier serum from Captain America The First Avenger. The German scientist described the serum as "amplifying what's already on the inside" as in "Good becomes GREAT, Bad becomes WORSE" in his comparison Cap and the Red Skull.

Honestly I was just having a thought about the markings- namely, the fact that Lotor actually has bog-standard Altean markings with a tiny added flick to them, in contrast to how Honerva, before she even actually entered the rift, had these huge distorted markings, and this led me to a different theory.

Given the timeline, Honerva had to have already had Lotor in her body, which means that Lotor was exposed to the rift a lot, at an incredibly formative point in his development. Sure, Honerva’s exposure was longer, but Lotor basically didn’t have a life before exposure to the rift. Through the walls of Honerva’s body and through her own veins, he’d be saturated with it.

And yet. It clearly didn’t take with Lotor the way it took with his parents. He doesn’t have the physical symptoms, he doesn’t get along with them. He’s interested in the rift, but the things he wants from it are very tangible, measurable, and not exactly a “slippery slope” into wanting more the way both Zarkon and Honerva’s broad, open-ended goals (power, understanding)

I guess I don’t personally believe that the rift exaggerated all that much of Honerva and Zarkon’s traits, but, more, I think the rift entity found symbiosis in Haggar and Zarkon for qualities they had, but Lotor lacked- he was only an infant at the time. He didn’t have any darkness for it to grow in. He was… basically, pure of heart, in that a baby can’t really conceptualize malice, or selfishness, because they don’t have a clear sense of Self and Other.

Oriande and Voltron both seem to operate very heavily with personality. Oriande’s final trial, the paladin bonds Voltron relies on, seek who you are as a person. Lotor’s personality, his essential character, is cyan-aligned, it’s aligned with Oriande, which is why the latter opens its gates to him and doesn’t harm him even when he fails its test.

Even if Lotor is anxious, afraid, lashes out at the guardian- he is still divided from his parents on a soul level.

This might sound close to what you’re suggesting, but I don’t think the rift is a passive amplifier, is, I guess, my implication- rather I think certain entities within or connected to the rift resonate with kindred spirits, and what’s inside of Lotor draws him towards Sincline, a being like Voltron- while what’s inside of his parents draws them towards the rift entity, opposed to Voltron.

The rift entity may have tried to take Lotor at the same time it took his mother, but it didn’t succeed because he’s not by nature someone it can get a “good grip” on, I guess?

okay i lost an entire ask about this but tl:dr i think connor's hair is inspired/based off t-1000 from terminator 2. it would tie real nicely into his whole 'terminator' theme going on, and the other references (like rk800=t-800 form terminator 1) and t-1000 disguised itself as a police officer.

I always joke about Connor being baby-faced terminator even though i know nothing about the movies but I’m fucking crying oh my god you’re right

It looks a little better on him cause he has the volume the game devs failed to give Connor, but it’s still ridiculous! You expect me to take a murder bot with that haircut seriously?? I’d laugh in his face and get killed instantly
