Aha! A tricky one! I will endeavor to provide a good answer!
So, disclaimer: I also have IBS, which complicates the tummy question, and I also have severe anxiety, so I’ve refused to go to or eat at many restaurants with my family since being diagnosed. This will be a short list, but I highly encourage you to do some research in your own areas and to either get comfortable asking people working in restaurants questions or have someone do it for you. YOU MUST LET THE RESTAURANTS KNOW YOUR CONDITION IF YOU HAVE CELIAC OR ARE GLUTEN SENSITIVE. And realize that most people still don’t understand what you mean when you say you have celiac disease or even a gluten intolerance. But they will understand wheat allergy, especially if you start listing common examples (buns, breading, gravy, etc). Don’t rely on “oh but it’s fruit, why would fruit be a problem?” Because sometimes you find yourself in a Cracker Barrel asking a waitress who has to go ask her manager and the manager will frankly tell you that there’s so much flour flying around back there that if you have any kind of gluten problem, this place is not safe for you. Incidentally, Cracker Barrel is not on my list of safe restaurants, but it is on my list of places to play a fun peg jump game.
Sit-down restaurants, I very much enjoy Cheesecake Factory’s mashed potatoes, and some of their burgers come with a gluten free bun that’s pretty good. Olive Garden has gluten free pasta and tomato sauce, but if tomatoes aren’t your thing, they will absolutely just coat them in butter (and add grilled chicken if you want, and they do scrape and clean the grills). There’s also quite a few local sit down places that I’ve had success with, so, again: research what is in your area! There’s actually a whole gluten free bakery and bistro in my area that isn’t exactly easy for everyday eating but great for a sometimes treat. And I just found a local Italian place that does a delicious chicken Alfredo that didn’t make me sick! Local restaurants can be such treasures, friends.
Quick service joints, by far my favorite is Five Guys Burgers and Fries. They already cook their burgers and buns on separate grills; all you need to do is tell them about your allergy, and they’ll flag it for their people to change gloves when handling your food. Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers has a grilling process where they flip their burgers onto a separate grill to cook the second side where the buns also go, but if you tell them, they will keep it on the meat-only grill; their fries are made in the same fryer as onion rings and therefore not safe. Chicken Salad Chick is a pretty good one so long as you pay attention to the chicken salad ingredients and ask for the Quick Chicks, which are individually packed. LawLer’s BBQ is really good; my sister in law gets the loaded baked potato without cheese, but I think I’ve gotten it before with cheese since I got sick and been fine? I don’t remember, but be safe and maybe skip the cheese, since anti-caking agents in shredded cheese is a sneaky place for gluten to hide and few restaurant workers will even know to check that.
Fast food, there are so few options for actual meals. Wendy’s Frosty is good, but not a complete dinner; I think their baked potatoes and chili might also be safe but I’m not a fan. Some salads are okay (check the dressing always), and many fries are okay (NOT MCDONALDS, THEIR FRIES ARE NOT GLUTEN FREE THANKS TO GLUTEN IN THE BEEF FLAVORING THEY ADD AND ALSO NOT DEDICATED FRYERS), but in my area, the safest place to get a fast, tasty meal is Chick-fil-A. They have dedicated fryers for their fries, and dedicated grills for their grilled nuggets, and they have managers and in some locations allergy specialists on site to make sure your food is made and handled carefully. I’ve never gotten sick from eating it. The moral implications are less than stellar, but. It is what it is. They’re the only place I can eat. And sometimes, I don’t have the time to run home and cook myself a meal before keeping other plans.
I can’t cite my sources here; I spend a lot of time googling and looking up menus and asking questions. Please do your own research and figure out for yourself what is near you that you can have and what you like. It’s a hard thing to live with. Good luck, friend!

I know Chick-fil-A sucks cause it makes very shitty donations and the ceo is human garbage, but it’s so frustrating how it’s the only one of these companies that I can actually fucking eat at. There’s literally no fucking point for me to go to any of these other places.
Chick-fil-A has gluten free fries, buns, grilled chicken items, sandwiches (that have vegetables too??!!), and entire meals I can actually get instead of just a cup of coleslaw (woohoo) , a depressing salad, or a small cup of roasted chicken bites???.
I did vote for Zaxby’s cause gf/dairy free wings and props to Bojangles for the gf fries, but seriously how does the company that’s goes against human rights ironically, somehow, become the only company that actually takes humans with food allergies and sensitivities into account????
It’s just disappointing.

Giving up gluten and dairy fucking sucks. A lot. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Autoimmune Disease a couple of months ago, and after finding a medication that works for me I was advised to cut gluten from my diet.
It's been an interesting ride so far though, and I have learned some things in the last week and a half
First I learned that it's super easy to lose weight when you're only consuming 600 calories a day because you dont know what you can eat. Try not to do that.
Then I learned that when I'm not consuming gluten to mask it : I am far more affected by lactose than I previously believed. So no more dairy either!
So all this revolves around what I can eat, and as someone who loves to cook and eat it's been fucking hard...
Now I know that chick fil a has a gluten free bun that they very helpfully keep in a sealed bag so that it cant be contaminated by allergens that eats like straight up sand. Like three scoops of sand on your grilled chicken sandwich. Also their honey mustard sauce has trace amounts of gluten. That was my first experience with gluten since giving it up and I felt it quickly and intensely. I prefer not to give business to that company anyway, so I guess that's fine.
Jones Dairy Farm makes a mean breakfast sausage without gluten fillers. One of my new favorite parts of breakfast now.
I have also learned that Daiya makes a frozen pizza that is gluten, soy, and lactose free that is slightly better than regular frozen pizza. It had more "cheese" than a usual frozen pizza, and a better sauce. Also the "cheese" actually tastes like cheese. I am impressed.
But so many things needlessly have gluten in them. Did you know that a lot of fruit snack gummies have gluten? Why do you need wheat for that? Also most salad dressings. And I really like cheese so giving it up has been awful. Also I went to the grocery store today and got some pre packaged alternatives to try at home, and also wanted to get fresh produce for my kids. Fresh produce could only be bought if it came in a sealed bag because some lady wasnt wearing even a mask or gloves but she was touching EVERY piece of produce in the store... fuck that lady. She is going to kill people.
Oh! And my birthday is the middle May so what the hell am I supposed to do about cake??? I know I can get oat milk ice cream (planet oat is THE best dairy alternative for milks and ice creams. It's so good. Fuck Silk), but in my fairly rural new england town I dont know if I can find a gluten free cake. For my birthday.

If you're new in town, or just want to visit a place that isn't filled with tourists, there are many things to do in Gilbert, AZ to keep you busy so you won't get bored. I've compiled a list of some of the most underrated things to do in Gilbert AZ that will educate and entertain you.
Freestone Skatepark
Freestone Skatepark is the only skatepark in Gilbert, AZ. It was built in 2004 and has been a staple for skaters and BMXers ever since. The park is located at Freestone Park, which is a large park with baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and more.
The skatepark itself is an old-school street-style skatepark that has been redesigned over time to make it better for all skill levels. There are ledges of all sizes, stairs with rails and gaps to grind, fun boxes to jump off of, banks for manuals, and much more.
The park also has a flow bowl that is perfect for beginners who want to learn how to get air on their boards before they try street skating.
Try a new restaurant
There are so many great restaurants in Gilbert. I always get excited when I see a new one open up, but then I'm disappointed by the lack of business they get. Some great places to eat include:
Cafe Rio - If you love Mexican food, you need to try Cafe Rio! They have delicious tacos, burritos, and salads. My favorite is their chipotle chicken salad with extra tortilla strips on top!
Bella Vita - Bella Vita has fantastic Italian food, including pizza and pasta dishes. Their menu is large enough that everyone can find something they like here!
Pita Jungle - Pita Jungle specializes in Mediterranean food, including gyros and shawarma sandwiches. They also serve up healthy salads if you're looking for something lighter!
Honey Bear Bakery and Cafe - This place has amazing desserts! They have cakes made from scratch as well as cookies and brownies (my favorite!). The best part? They're all gluten-free!
Participate in a local farmers' market
It's hard to beat the freshness of locally grown fruits and vegetables — not to mention the fact that they're usually cheaper than those at the grocery store. The Gilbert Farmers' Market gives you access to more than 50 vendors selling everything from organic produce to homemade baked goods. Visit their website for dates and times.
Shop at Power Road Market
The Power Road Market is an outdoor shopping center that combines several different stores under one roof. The market features over 60 stores including Best Buy, Gordmans, and Target as well as other smaller shops like Pier 1 Imports and Party City. If you're celiac, and you know that you just ate gluten, then there's about an hour window where you can take activated charcoal pills, and then you won't get sick/as sick!
And if you do happen to get gluten-ed, then drink a dose of Pepto every two hours until you feel human again, and try to drink as many fluids as you can because you WILL get dehydrated and that only makes you feel worse, alkaline water and electrolyte drinks are especially good
The first few days after a gluten-ing, solid food is painful to eat and makes you feel awful, but bone broth is full of nutrients and it won't hurt you! Any brand is good, but if you can get ginger tumeric bone broth (I think Costco has it, not sure where else) then that's the best for when you feel super gluten sick
Gin-gins and other ginger candies are also good for your recovering stomach!
Tips for avoiding gluten:
findmeglutenfree.com is an amazing place to find safe restaurants that won't poison you
don't trust anywhere that doesn't have dedicated fryers!
always ask them to wash the ice cream scoop at ice cream parlors, cross-contamination at places like those is killer
the crab in sushi is NOT gluten free, neither are most soy sauces (Tamari soy sauce is gluten free tho)
A place having a gluten friendly menu does NOT mean that it will be safe, always verify with online reviews if other people have eaten safely there
The best thing you can do for a gluten free friend is speak up for them and make sure food they're eating is actually safe!
Chains I have eaten at safely:
Chipotle: The chips are safe, and you can order a bowl, just remember to ask them to change the serving spoons to avoid cross contamination
Qdoba: Same as above
Firehouse Subs: They have gluten free buns, tell them you have an allergy and ask them to change their gloves when they make your sandwich
Chick-fil-A: Ethics aside, they are amazing with gluten free, I've never had a problem with their fries, the waffle chips are totally safe, and the grilled nuggets are completely safe and also delicious
Raising Cane's: The fries are totally gluten free and safe, don't get the chicken
Taco Bell: (Honorable mention) The crunchy tacos do not contain gluten, and neither do the Doritos Locos Tacos, I've never had a problem there before but it is a bit of risk because there might be cross contamination
Subway: (Reluctant mention) Apparently some locations have gluten buns, again remember to ask them to change gloves, otherwise you can order a salad bowl if you have no other options and you'll be sad but safe... ask for extra meat

It's 500 mls of Vegetable stock.
It's 1/2-1 Can of Chickpeas.
You need 3 of Potatoes (cut into thick chunks).
It's 2 Cups of Broccoli (chopped).
Prepare 2 Cups of Button Mushrooms.
It's 75 gms of Fresh or Frozen Peas.
Prepare 1 of long Sweet Pepper (grated or finely chopped).
Prepare 1 of Medium Onion.
You need 2 of Garlic Cloves (crushed).
It's 1 tbs of Ginger (grated).
You need 1 tsp of Mustard Oil.
You need 1 tbs of Olive Oil.
It's of The Spices.
Prepare 4 of Cardamom pods.
It's 4 of Cloves.
It's 2 of Bay Leaves.
You need 2 of Star Anise.
It's 1 of Cinnamon Stick.
It's 1 of tsb Garam Masala.
You need 1 of tsb Ground Corriander.
It's 1 tsp of Ground Cumin.
Prepare 1 tsp of Ground Tumeric Powder.
It's 1 tsp of Sweet Pepper Powder.
Prepare 1/4 tsp of Hot Pepper Powder.
You need of Garnish.
It's of Chopped Corriander.
You need 1 tbs of Coconut Yoghurt.
The crust is made with chilled chopped boiled potato, chilled chopped butter, flour and chili powder. For the filling, the mushroom and broccoli is cooked in a creamy spicy white sauce. Broccoli, Mushroom, Potato, Peas & Chickpea Curry (Vegan/Veg) step by step
Heat Mustard and Olive Oil.
Add Onion, garlic, ginger, yellow pepper & saute for approx 10mins.
Add spices and fry until fragrant (Approx 1 minute).
Add Potato, Mushrooms and fry (Approx 2 minutes).
Add Chickpeas & Broccoli.
Add Vegetable Stock, Peas & Coconut Milk. Bring to boil and turn down to simmer until potatoes cooked through.
Serve with chopped Corriander and coconut yoghurt.
Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper and nutmeg. I stir fried mushrooms broccoli cauliflower and onions and put them all on the quiche. I also substituted soy milk (which I don't really like but I use it in recipes like this for health reasons) and. With nothing more than vegetables, potatoes and plenty of Indian spices, this simple and healthy side dish is vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. Serve it alongside rice or any gluten-free grain such as quinoa or kaniwa for a simple gluten-free and vegan meal.

most definitely, lil one! 🍃⭐️💕 healthy eating is just the best~ so, any of these recipes can be altered to what you like! you can interchange certain ingredients or take out things to make them vegan or gluten-free or nut-free or anything… but, this is just meant to give you ideas! keep in mind you should be buying all fresh, whole foods for these dishes, don’t get anything pre-packaged… preservatives for pre-packaged foods are through the roof with unhealthy additives and just not very good for your body if you need to eat clean!

Friday Faves
Hi friends! Well, well, well another week down. Is it just me, or did this week fly by? I feel like the days are moving a bit more quickly now that we’ve found our groove. Or maybe it’s the fact that we’re used to moving in slow motion so less activities/tasks take up more time? (I’m like, “Clean P’s room. That will take at least 2 hours.” Before all of this, I could do it in 30 minutes lol.) I can definitely see how this whole thing moves in waves. Some weeks are up and some are downers, so it’s just going with the flow. I hope that this week was a bit better for you, too.
(My go-to Bahama Bucks order: mango, melón, and cucumber shaved ice with chili salt and chamoy. YES.)
Some exciting news: we finished our cabinets! I can’t wait to show you guys the final product. It really brightened up the kitchen. I’ll write a full post next week with all of the details, plus some before and afters.
It’s been heating up here in Tucson (over 100 the past few days!) so we’ve had lots of water playtime outside. I introduced the girls to Slip N Slide (they looooove it) and got a small inflatable pool. We also crashed my mom’s pool and had a Chick-Fil-A picnic in her backyard.
(Before we lived in Valdosta the second time, I didn’t understand the Chick-Fil-A hype. Like why do 80 cars line up for drive-thru chicken? I get it now. It’s SO forking good. I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten-free bun or the market salad with no cheese. The waffle fries are also a dream come true.)

Beauty + fashion:
– Officially in love with the new Vitamin C serum! It makes my skin glow, and I notice a difference in the texture of my skin. I haven’t been wearing much makeup (maybe some eyebrow gel, tinted moisturizer, and lipgloss if I’m feeling crazy) and have noticed a difference in my skin tone/texture. (Also my vision of what’s presentable has become extremely skewed.) I love that it has a hint of turmeric scent and that it contains antioxidants and ultra stable Vitamin C to protect skin as well as reduce age spots. Check it out here! 
– Got these leggings in my latest Trunk club delivery and love the pattern! I usually stick to solid colors but it’s been fun to switch things up a bit.

Fitness + good eats:
Took an awesome yoga class with THE Baron Baptiste on the lululemon community page. It was a playful yoga practice with jumping, about 6 rounds of crow, and it was everything I needed. I’ve been craving yoga quite a bit and can’t wait until I can finally go back to hot yoga. (For now, I could totally do it on the balcony in the Tucson sun and it would probably feel like the same thing? jk prob not a good idea.)

I wanted to tell you guys about this breakfast! My therapist (who is a real-life angel) gave me the recipe when we did our Zoom chat this week. You boil a chopped apple for a few minutes until it’s soft, and then from here you add some grain (you can use rice, oats, quinoa, whatever you have) and and nuts/seeds, fresh or dried fruit, granola, a little butter, pinch of salt, cinnamon, some maple syrup. I had mine with oats, cashews, blueberries, cinnamon, butter, maple syrup, and drizzled almond butter on top. It was SO good and satisfying.

Kutztown University Diet
Prologue
On Friday night around 1am students make their way to South because who would be at south at 1am, just everyone. So the students place their orders at the kiosk only to find out their order numbers are about 100 people to go. They sit down on the edge of the walkway and sit and wait. They begin to complain about how hungry and tired they are as they look over to see a bunch of kids eating cereal because it’s the quickest thing you can get to eat. An hour and a half later someone finally get their grilled chicken sandwich and fries and proceeds to push people out of their way just to get some BBQ sauce. The students make their way to find a table, which is hard because almost all the seats are filled, and to get there they have to dodge pool players and drunk people who don’t know what they are doing. All that waiting and hard work getting a seat didn’t seem worth it when that student finally sits down and tries to eat their grilled chicken sandwich and the bun completely falls apart and the fries are cold. A typical day at Kutztown University consists of stressed out students who need to just take a break from classes or work and eat some food. The question is where do they get this food? This question becomes life or death when it comes to thinking about what you want to eat and or go at 2am in the morning after a long night of “studying”. How far do you wanna walk? I mean do you have the option to drive? Do you want actual food or cafeteria food? Is delivery an option because who wants to leave their bed? What’s open? Well there are many options for those hangry KU students out there who are struggling to figure out want the want to eat.  Act one, “Eating on Campus” is going to explain the places one can go to eat especially for students living on campus. Act two, “Eating off campus” is going to talk about exploring different restaurants off campus.
Act one: Eating on Campus
As a student at Kutztown and having the experience of living on campus, I have eaten at every place Kutztown dining has to offer. When I lived on campus my favorite place to eat was upstairs in South where they had this amazing and full salad bar. This place also had a dessert bar and my friends and I would have cupcakes almost everyday. Now I live off campus I still am able to eat on campus by going to the Academic Forum in which I usually get chick fil a or a panini from the Marketplace. A lot of students tend to stay on campus and use flex, bear bucks, or meal swipes because most students don’t have too much money and its cheap on campus. The biggest place to eat at Kutztown in South Dining Hall. This is because this is at the end the DMZ where all the living quarters are for anyone who lives on campus. For those who live on campus have a meal plan and the Dining Hall takes swipes like Cub. There are two floors in South where the bottom has a fast food vibe with a cafe and pizza while upstairs sells the mediocre lunches and dinners with a salad and dessert bar. Cub’s, the only other place on campus that takes meal swipes, food is pretty much the same thing but a lot smaller and the food is not as freshly cooked. Right next to Cub is Starbucks which is where tired students tend to flock too and in-between classes it becomes real busy. Then there is the Academic Forum which is a popular place for those who commute and those who don’t have a meal plan. This place has another cafe that sells Starbucks coffee, Chick fil a, International food, and a marketplace that has a salad and sandwich bar.
To have another student’s perspective of the food on campus I have asked Sarah Kriesher about how she feels of eating on campus. She says she really does like eating on campus at the Academic forum. “Chick fil a is the best thing that has happened to Kutztown University. I eat there a couple times a week.” She is also obsessed with the Starbucks on campus because she is able to use her flex to buy her Salted Caramel Mocha lattes. She says she is not really a big fan of South however it can be really convenient . “Since I live at University Place it is so easy to just walk two steps to south to eat but honestly sometimes it can be way to busy and and it could take forever to get my food.” She also explained that she is however grateful for it since it is open 24/7. She is not really a big fan of the food itself. “The food at south and cub since it’s like the same place, it can get really repetitive and after a while the food starts to taste bad.”
Act 2: Eating off Campus
I have been a student at Kutztown University for about two weeks before I started getting tired of their food. Everyday it's the same thing, chicken nuggets, a burnt burger with a stale bun, and a handful of frenchfries. I’m lucky if that handful of fries were warm. At this point I am tired of eating school food every single day. They make it seem more appetizing by adding stuff to the menu but if it actually is something good, it won’t last. It’s just another passing glimpse of hope that is what their kitchen could actually make if they applied themselves just a little more. Don’t get me wrong, I like the occasional meal on campus, but not every day.
It gets to a point you need a larger variety to choose from and to eat something that hasn’t been sitting out for half an hour. My friend Sam and I decided it was time to go exploring for new things to eat down mainstreet. I was in the mood for some pizza so we stopped in at Tommy Boys. Tommy Boys is the favorite restaurant that everyone who attends Kutztown knows and loves. It is one of those places cramped into the downstairs of one of the townhouses on mainstreet. They have a very large kitchen but the seating inside that is available isn’t the greatest. There are four or five tables usually with the ability to probable seat eighteen people in total. There isn’t much standing room when they are really busy, and trust me, on a friday night they get busy. I have never heard anyone not liking it there.
Sam has Celiacs disease and is unable to eat anything with gluten in it without getting sick. Tommy Boys offers accommodations to food allergies, they make a pizza with a gluten free crust so he is able to eat there without getting himself sick. Besides there being gluten free crust Tommy Boys also offers a wide variety of menu items so if you have some other sort of food allergy there will always be something for you to eat.
Another local favorite while walking down mainstreet looking for something to eat is Mommas. Mommas is on the opposite side of the street but very close in distance to Tommy Boys. Their pizza is very good too. But just the same as Tommy Boys, their menu is not limited to pizza. While relative in size the atmosphere inside of Mommas isn’t the same as Tommy Boys. It is more of a place to come in, grab a slice, and go. Where as Tommy Boys feels like the type of place that you would like to sit down and hangout for a while with all of your friends.
Most places on mainstreet are open pretty late on the weekends, sometimes during the week they are open pretty late too but you’d want to get something to eat a lot earlier than midnight during the week. Having a meal cooked for you specifically is the best thing in the world. You don’t have to share, but you could if that's what you would like to do. And in the event that you weren’t to finish eating all your food from being full, you can take your leftovers home with you for a midnight snack, something that south doesn’t allow you to do.
