Back to Saizeriya (サイゼリヤ) for our budget Italian dinner. That perfect poached egg in the menu is what attracted me to order the Bismark Pizza (S$7.90). Beside the gooey egg yolk, it had plenty of spinach, bacon and stringy mixed cheese over a crispy dough base.
Mum had only one selection from the menu, the same tried and tested (by her) Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti (S$5.90). Come with noodles and grilled chicken cubes tossed in black pepper sauce.

Yes. Maybe I got a little hungry while listening to season nine of Within the Wires.
Multiple times.
Cassette 1: Breakfast Your breakfast would have been similar to one you might have today – but different as well. You might have had barley bread, with figs and olives. You might have had a kind of pancake – called a teganitai – made with curdled milk and olive oil, topped with sesame and cheese. Honestly, that sounds delicious. They should be making these things for us while we record, don’t you think? I’m sure I’d give a much better performance if I’d just tasted the food.
Cassette 5: History is Narrative You know, I even enjoyed the food! Of course, it wasn’t good, it was never good. Although I did notice they finally took that dreadful mushroom and blue cheese pizza off the menu. You remember, it tasted like rotting tyres? Well I got the pancetta and olive, like always. The wine they have now is better, although I’ve noticed that’s true everywhere recently. I suppose there’s some scientific reason for that, improving the soil over time, or aging the wine for longer, or something like that. Either way, it’s delightful being able to get a truly drinkable Malbec, even in a place like that.
Cassette 6: Talk Your Way Out of This One... You joined a baking club? So you two make brownies once a week and what? Eat them? Share them with friends and neighbours. [JIM SPEAKS] What’s a babka? [JIM SPEAKS] Sorry, no. The point is that a baking club is not… challenging. Sitting on a beach. Baking babkas. Waking up. Eating food. Going to sleep. That’s routine. We can all do those things. They’re not exciting or unique. Isn’t that stasis? But you’re happy, you’re comfortable. What does she mean by energy? I don’t bring the same energy to the relationship. Should we have learned to make babkas together? Would that have made her happy?
Cassette 10: Finding Your True Voice And then suddenly it was nine at night and I hadn’t eaten all day and I was starving and you appeared with a roast chicken. You’d gone to the market and done all the shopping and cooked dinner and I think you’d even done the previous night’s dishes because I certainly hadn’t.
Cassette 10: Finding Your True Voice A few days after that fight we went for a picnic, do you remember? We spread a blanket by that little brook and ate bread and cheese. There were damselflies around and one of them sat right on your hand for a while. You were sitting there, looking at this beautiful creature on your hand, and the sun was glinting off your hair, and you looked like you were glowing.
To me, this season was the most Within in the Wires since season five. And culinarily speaking, it definitely was the most inspiring season. Ever.

Its funny how when you mention being a picky eater people may say like "oh me too i only eat pizza and chicken tenders and spaghetti lol" and i nod but in my head i am thinking about how it makes me happy to have beef stroganoff, meatloaf, fettucine alfredo or roasted red potatoes in the fridge
#Of course i do partake in a bit of pizza and chicken nuggets and spaghetti#I love grilled cheese and garlic mashed potatoes too. and baked mac&cheese which i know is a safe autistic food to some#and i only eat vegetables if i put some parmesan cheese on them#so i get why theyre a common comfort food. But a nice plate of beef stroganoff with peas and some parmesan cheese is my favorite#Oh and cheesecake. i would kill a man for a big ol slice of cheesecake all to myself

Ways I get fruits n veggies in me:
- putting oranges and peppers on the counter where it’s easy to snack on while I make other food
- buying frozen strawberries for cheap to make smoothies which are cold on a hot day
- buying 100% fruit juices or 100% fruit popsicles so I have cold juice to drink on a hot day
Ways I do not get fruits n veggies in me:
- buying frozen veggies I don’t really want to eat because I think they’re healthy
- buying fruits I don’t really like because I think they’re healthy
- buying fruits or veggies which require prep time to eat in a way I like
- getting upset at myself for not eating enough fruits n veggies
Notice how the ways I eat the fruits and veggies have a built in incentive to eat them?
- peppers n oranges on the counter are easy to eat and require no prep time. If I want a meal, or I’m just I the kitchen, they’re easy to grab and munch on.
- I get bored and distracted when I cook. Having something to do with my hands, like peeling an orange, keeps me busy while keeping me in the kitchen near my food. And then I peeled the orange so I might as well eat it.
- smoothies and cold juice/popsicles work because the weather is hot and I already want to cool down. The incentive exists naturally because I like how they taste and I’m already looking for something cold.
- smoothies/juice/popsicles also have a consistent texture, which unprocessed fruit and veggies do not have. Texture is a big driver of what I eat or don’t, so having a pleasant/consistent texture makes me more likely to choose something.
If u prep ur own food and are worried ur not eating enough fruits n veggies, it might be time to go through how you usually choose what to eat and what’s blocking the fruit and veggie choices. Usually there is something that makes the alternate choice you make more appealing (including not eating anything, that is a choice that you make too).
Does having to cut/peel an orange take too long, so you pick the easily openable chips? That’s great! You have chips! But if you want fruit too, maybe get something you can just pick up and eat, like an apple or pear.
Does having fresh veggies sound great, but they’re not warm and you’re already freezing, so you pick the warm tater tots you can make in the oven? That’s great! You have tater tots! But if you want veggies too, maybe make some warm vegetable soup, or get a microwave pack of steamed green beans or broccoli.
Do you feel like you want to add more vitamins to your diet, but you don’t like the taste of vegetables or fruit, so you just stare in the cabinet and then don’t pick anything? Get something that has what you need that tastes different. Maybe that’s a supplement (talk to your doctor first, those still can interact with other meds or general health), maybe that’s a protein bar you like, maybe it’s chopping veggies up real tiny and putting them in your pasta sauce. It’s okay if it’s not the most “economical” or “healthy” solution; if it results in you actually eating more of what you’re trying to eat, it’s worth it.
This applies to other foods too; I need more protein in my diet, so I buy protein bars and oven-bakeable orange chicken, even if there are “healthier” more protein dense foods. I don’t like kale or beans, eggs and I are frenemies, and steak (my beloved) takes a lot of time and attention to cook properly. I need to drink more water, so I buy powdered lemonade and sparkling water. Maybe you hate chicken and protein bars and sparkling water and lemonade. You’re not me. What do you like? What do you need? What makes your needs more likeable? Go buy/make/do that.
#I just have strong feelings about this okay#my mom gets on me for not eating the entire rainbow or smth#and tbh#I am not. concerned. about that.#because even if I bought the rainbow I would not eat the rainbow#and then the rainbow would get very moldy or freezerburned#but I have noticed that I eat more fruits and veggies now because I buy stuff i like#and put them in places where I’m likely to eat them#it’s just that#my roommate bought peaches and they were too mushy to eat on their own so I cut em up and smoothied them#with my strawberries#surprise surprise suddenly I ate a ton of peaches#yes I eat like 4 meals ever but I also have 4 reliable fruit/veggie options#<- is autistic and struggles to eat a variety of foods#my doctor gets so worried alkdjfjsjdkfj he’s like ‘im worried you don’t have enough variety in your diet’ my brother in Christ you’re lucky#that it’s 4 meals and not 2#because when I went to the dining hall it was 2#chicken tenders or pizza#that’s it#so really now that I’m eating brats and grilled cheese and orange chicken and occasionally pasta#I’ve doubled my meal variety#the one sad thing is that the orange chicken is pricey#otherwise I would probably eat it every day

Took the free shuttle bus to Sembawang Shopping Centre to do some grocery shopping and for dinner. Headed down the travelator to Saizeriya (サイゼリヤ) located at the basement for our meal. Order the Nacho Bacon Potato (S$3.90) appetizer for sharing between the two of us. Wedges of potato smothered with nacho cheese sauce and bits of bacons are just so yummy.
Mum had the Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti (S$5.90) which came with cubes of grilled chicken in black pepper sauce. Portion wise, it is just the right amount for my mother as she is not a big eater.
I went for the thin crusted Mushroom & Bacon Pizza (S$7.90). The edge is crispy as I sliced through it with the provided pizza cutter. Nice amount of toppings with ample stringy cheese on a tomato-based sauce.

Clint talks about food n stuff: fast food? good fast food. or just fast food?
andoks here at my place is basically what fast food should be. food served quickly, is cheap and affordable, and lastly the quality is good enough for consumption. this entire meal is roughly: 193 pesos/ $3.3 comes with sponsored company drink which is pepsico which is mtn dew.
im not sure what jollibee is doing but.. this meal is entirely ₱310 pesos/$5.10 and i had to wait for this meal. it's a bit pricier. had a coupon for the free ice cream sundae tho just for context. this is just fried chicken and fries with a drink.
mang inasal is in the pricier than but it's actually filling side. ₱270 pesos/$4.6 for this platter comes with the unli rice thing also drink black gulaman which not in photo. i do love the free soup as well problem is you have to refill the bowls yourself and they're very hot. like McDonald's coffee scalding hot. which brings to the next fast food. this is the fiesta platter comes with grilled chicken, java rice, shrimp palabok, and lumpiang shanghai
McDonald's. i actually went crazy with the promos and the coupons here. ₱248/$4.27 for the entire thing got their chicken nugs with the promo chili sauce which i really liked ngl. been a while to eat chicken nugs without feeling as if eating leather.
Chowking tho makes me think something else. they do have some additionals i could get for my buck yet they're still in the Jollibee thing but portion sizes depend on location (or time or employee feeling) like eating here is like a Russian roulette whether you get everything you want or get less. ₱210/$3.6 for this entire meal. im still asking myself why thats still the case because the portion sizes and the amount of stuff you get on you is questionable
pizzados. kinda in the side of cheese pizza and meal. im not sure if i can recommend this the ₱310/$5.3 price for this entire meal is enticing. please eat it while it's hot. the pizzas they serve are just equal to eating cardboard or paper their chicken is harder than a hard tack and the only reason i even eat here is to make me think that it's better to eat at greenwich. which is the next.
greenwich bang for your buck pizzas? meal sets that are actually a bit expensive but worth the price? yeah that's it. ₱310/5.3 (because additional potato wedges it's actually ₱270/$4.6). i still feel sad whenever i remembered the had buko pandan shakes and crinkle fries which were my memorable stuff here. regardless of which it's still better fast food pizza
in conclusion...
eating fast food isnt even worth it. like holy shit the prices man. it's more than ₱100/$1.7 price ranges and you could get a lot of that food better somewhere else. im a bit of a glutton and ordering these amounts of food and getting charged that amount kinda sucks. mang inasal tho is S tier fast food. but regardless that's me talking about fast food.
#fast food#mcdonalds#fried chicken#kfc#jollibee#mang inasal#food#they stopped exactly at mine before they started their lunch break#pizza#soup#grilled chicken#fried rice#insert food#clint talking about food#im not sure what to tag here#im running out of ideas#i havent ate lunch and the line to the water bill aint moving#its fucking 12pm#WHAT THE FUCL#they stopped exactly at mine and closed for their lunch break
