Absolutely loving the 2016 vintage from Italy as we enjoyed this Rocca Gucciarda estate Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG from @ricasoli1141 blend of Sangiovese 90%, Merlot 5%, Canaiolo 5% and showcasing black currant, leather with light wood notes. Se tem um vinho infalível para harmonizar com uma pela basta 🍝 é, na minha opinião, um bom Chianti. E hoje abri um BELÍSSIMO exemplar! 🇮🇹 Este é o “Ser Lapo 2017” um Chianti Classico Riserva do Castello di Fonterutoli, vinícola pertencente à excelente @MarchesiMazzei (cujo ancestral, Ser Lapo, foi o autor do primeiro documento a mencionar o “vinho do Chianti”) no coração da Toscana. “Classico” porque é produzido com uvas (90% Sangiovese e 10% Merlot) provenientes da área original da DOCG Chianti, demarcada em 1716. “Riserva” porque passa 12 meses em pequenas barricas de carvalho francês (metade delas novas). 🍷 Na taça tem coloração rubi de intensidade média-. Mostra aromas de frutas vermelhas maduras (morango, cereja), leve floral, especiarias (pimenta negra), ferro, cacau/chocolate e, depois de algum tempo, tostado. Na boca é seco, tem corpo médio, acidez média+ e taninos médios+ e de ótima qualidade. Tem frutas, pimenta-do-reino e um toque terroso (ferro), com moderada persistência. 📝 Um excelente vinho! Gostoso, com boa fruta, bastante frescor e estrutura, e bom equilíbrio! Ainda jovem, mas já com alguma complexidade aromática, tem belos anos pela frente. 92+ pontos. . ➡️ Um vinhaço que está disponível na categoria “Produtores Renomados” da @Evino e que vai agradar em cheio os amantes dos vinhos italianos! Four generations of the Cecchi family have collectively been producing wine for more than 125 years, so it was a great honor to attend the press lunch with Andrea Cecchi earlier this week! Andrea has been head winemaker since 1993. As we tasted through the lineup of 5 wines, he described with great enthusiasm how his family replanted the vineyards in the 1980s and how those vines are now almost 40 years old and producing wines of increasing quality and complexity. My favorite wines were the 2013 Cecchi Coevo and the 2014 Cecchi Chianti Classico Riserva. The Coevo is produced from the family’s best fruit in Chianti Classico and Maremma, but only in outstanding vintages. The 13 blend is comprised of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The wine opened rapidly in the glass to reveal a pleasing bouquet of dark red fruit, licorice, and tobacco with subtle notes of dried mixed herbs. The 14 CCR, which was well regarded by multiple critics, was also drinking incredibly well especially now that it has a little extra bottle age. As good as these wines were, Andrea advises that the 15 and 16 vintages are even better! Lucky enough to warm up with a little bit of sun, and now its time to warm our bones with one of our favorite cellars in #Chianti, @montefili! ____ If you ask @Johnnyvinooo he would tell you that he wanted to leave it in the cellar for longer. But these days require some extra moral support, which can only given by grapes of great stature. Thanks to our trusty @coravin, a glass or two was enjoyed, and then back down in the cellar it goes. Of course, finishing it wouldn’t be a crime either! ____ This wine also represents a unique connection between two places that are really going through tough times, obviously here in Italy, but now also in the US. #Montefili is owned by entrepreneur Nicola Marzovilla and two friends. Made of 100% Sangiovese, this Chianti has a deep ruby color. Fermentation took place in stainless steel and had a 2 week maceration period. The wine was aged in French oak casks for 6 months, stainless steel for 6 months, and aged in the bottle an additional 9 months. The nose has floral and spicy notes of cinnamon and clove, leather, and blackberry aromas. This wine has black currant and tobacco, on the palate with a bold structure and pleasant acidity.
