ೃ༄ Fade Into You
cherry valance dating hcs
Tumblr media
im gonna start working on requests, which may or may not take a while. in the mean time, i offer you some cherry thoughts<3
warnings: written with a fem!reader in mind, not beta or proof read
her love language is gift-giving. she has no issues expressing her affection through actions or words; she simply enjoys getting you things she thinks youll like. a vinyl of your favorite band, a necklace that matches one of hers, your favorite flowers, and so on.
uses schoolwork as an excuse to spend time with you. if anyone asks why youre at her house so often, or why she stares at you in the hallways with such longing, she’ll say its because you helped her prepare for the last history exam.
very chatty when youre around. nobody can get her talking quite like you do.
slips little notes into your locker. shes always careful to make them look nice, drawing hearts in the corners and adding extra loops to her handwriting.
wears your jewelry, if you let her. she cant love you as much as she’d like to in public—correction, she cant love you at all—so she does it in a subtle attempt to display her feelings towards you.
steals glances at you during her cheer routines. youre the only person in the crowd she truly cares about; she cant help herself, even if she wanted to.
calls you a lot, especially at night. listening to your voice and having long conversations is almost as good as seeing your face, in her opinion. almost.
begs you to stay over when her parents arent home. she cant love you as much as she’d like to in public, but she can in private<3

Born on this day 90 years ago: Neil Flanagan (3 May 1934 – 6 June 1986). The two-time Obie winning stage actor and director had a long and distinguished career in Off-off-Broadway theatre and his TV credits include Lou Grant, Wonder Woman, General Hospital and The Jeffersons. But for aficionados of the sleazier fringes of exploitation movies like me, Flanagan is an indelible presence in the gutter cinema of notorious maverick no-budget director Andy Milligan, including The Ghastly Ones (1968), Seeds (1968) and Guru the Mad Monk (1970). But I love him best as world-weary middle-aged transgender hooker Cherry Lane in Fleshpot on 42nd Street (pictured, billed as “Lynn Flanagan”). Whether singing “Some Day My Prince Will Come” while painting her nails or lamenting, “It ain’t easy being a freak. Look at me, hun. I’m no prize package. I’m a cocksucker. I’m not even a good one”, Flanagan steals every scene. She also gets the best line of dialogue: “It’s getting so you can’t give a blowjob on Times Square without some cop looking over your shoulder!” Read more here.

Japanese BL Starter Pack
Tumblr media
It’s been awhile since I dropped a rec list, so I am here today to share one that is very near and dear to my heart—a Japanese bl primer for those who are new to the jbl game. I created this for @neuroticbookworm to help her on her journey when she decided she wanted to start getting into Japanese works. The fandom (on Tumblr and generally) tends to focus primarily on Thai shows because they are the easiest to access for international fans, since Thailand is working its way toward world domination via ql media and wants us all to be able to watch. But there is a lot of great stuff to watch beyond the easy access Thai channels, and Japan is the country where this genre originated, so its shows are important for anyone who considers themselves a bl fan. Japan doesn’t cater nearly as much to the international audience so tracking down the shows sometimes takes some ingenuity and can-do spirit, but that’s part of the fun!
And so, the list! Bookworm is about halfway through it and having a ball, so I figured it was time to stop hoarding it and share it with anyone else who would like to dip their toes into jbl and isn’t quite sure where to start. A few notes:
I am not here to teach you about the deep roots of the jbl genre or give you a primer on yaoi manga. I am by no means an expert and there are other places to find that information. Start here with this great post by @nieves-de-sugui and then maybe wander over to @absolutebl to read up more on the evolution of the genre.
This list is by no means an exhaustive accounting of every important Japanese bl ever made; it is simply a nice sampler platter of the cream of the crop among various styles you will find in jbl. Watching through this whole list will not only expose you to some fantastic shows, but also give you a sense of what makes jbl unique and how the country’s style differs from others, and point you toward the types of jbl you’ll like most (they tend to put shows in pretty specific style and tone lanes and once you find the ones you like there are lots more where that came from).
If you’re coming to this post as a jbl lover and you don’t see your favorite here, I promise it’s not because I don’t love it very much; I simply had to make some choices to get this down to a reasonable shortlist. Feel free to leave extra recs for others to find!
I’m putting these in a loose suggested watch order that will take you through the various jbl lanes in a kind of popcorn style, because I always think it’s good to change it up so you don’t get too stuck in one mode, and it works its way up to most of the extremely Japanese stuff (you will know what that means by the time you finish). But do what’s in your heart and change up the order if you want, friends, I am not the boss of you!
Cherry Magic (Crunchyroll or grey)
Tumblr media
gif by @liyazaki
I believe everyone on Tumblr is pretty familiar with this one, which is not a coincidence—this is one of the most accessible jbls. Not in terms of actual access to watch it, mind you (we’ve all jumped through shady internet hoops to watch it) but in terms of its content and style. Cherry Magic is a classic workplace romcom with a magical twist, and it is charming af. It’s a great exemplar of Japan’s light and zippy comedy lane for bl—a lane in which, importantly, the romances stay chaste even when the actual plot is about sex, or lack thereof. My friend @waitmyturtles would kill me if I didn’t make sure you know that Cherry Magic also has a lovely follow up film. And bonus: there is now a Thai remake airing so if you watch the original you can get in on the discussion about the different adaptations between countries. This is pretty easy to find these days in all the usual places, but I strongly recommend watching it here.
Old Fashion Cupcake (Viki)
Tumblr media
gif by @liyazaki
Moving on to a slightly more mature workplace romcom. Old Fashion Cupcake, another Tumblr favorite, is an age gap boss-subordinate romance, and it’s both very adult and somehow wholesome af at the same time. Sure, there is a lot of carnal desire going on here, but there is also a lot of wooing via fluffy pancakes. It’s a tight five episodes and a fantastic example of what Japan, with its extreme technical precision in writing, directing, editing, pacing, and acting firing on all cylinders, can do in two hours. There’s not an ounce of flab on this thing and you’ll want to watch it over and over again.
Utsukushii Kare (Viki)
Tumblr media

Time to get a little weird! Weird is a key feature of Japanese media, and lots of jbls explore unusual relationship dynamics rooted in complex psychology. This is the first show on the list that will likely feel very Japanese if you’re new around here—my advice is to lean into it and finish the show, even if you get uncomfortable along the way. In Japanese media, discomfort always serves a purpose. This is a high school story with a twisted relationship at its center, and I’m not saying any more than that. Don’t spoil yourself and go watch it! This one also comes with two sequels—one short second season and one movie—that continue from the original story. They are less essential but still excellent.
I Cannot Reach You (Netflix)
Tumblr media

Next up, another high school tale, but with a totally different vibe. This show is kind of a revelation in its willingness to tell a story about overwhelming desire—including sexual desire—with young protagonists. It’s rooted in a classic but often misunderstood trope, friends to lovers, and takes the angst of it seriously, giving us a low stakes story that feels extremely high stakes to our leads. It’s also gorgeous and uses a classic Japanese visual style (bokeh) that you’ll be dying to learn more about.
His (Viki)
Tumblr media
gif by @gabrielokun
Time for a break from high school, and we’ll sprinkle in a movie for some added flavor. His is a jbl film featuring a second chance romance between a stoic, introverted man who moves to a remote town to start over, and his ex-boyfriend who follows him there unexpectedly, adorable child in tow. Importantly, this movie does not take place in what we often refer to as the “bl bubble” where homophobia doesn’t exist; the leads’ experiences of being gay men in a homophobic society are hugely important to the plot and themes of the story. It’s a beautiful film and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched it. @bengiyo would surely also like me to tell you that this film follows a brief prequel show called His: I Didn’t Mean to Fall in Love about the characters originally meeting in high school; I do not think it’s really necessary to watch it but completists can start there.
The Pornographer series (Gaga)
By now you should be ready to get into some classic Japanese fucked up psychosexual material, right? Right! The Pornographer series is told in five installments in this order:
The Novelist, a six episode miniseries
Mood Indigo, a six episode prequel series
Spring Life, a 15 minute short
Pornographer: Playback, a two hour film
Spring Life Continued, a 15 minute short
Confused by that distribution model? So say we all; sometimes Japan likes to make us work for it to make sure we really appreciate its many gifts to us. The story across these installments is about a very difficult to love protagonist, what makes him the way he is, and the also-unhinged-but-in-a-different-way man who finally gets through to him. It’s an extremely satisfying love story and one of the best character arcs I have ever seen, full stop. For this one, you’ll want to just pull the word problematic out of your pocket and store it in a drawer; nearly everything that happens in this story is problematic and that’s the point. Lean in! All of these installments except for the film are on Gaga, if you get that far hmu and I will supply you with the final puzzle piece.
Our Dining Table (Gaga)
Tumblr media
You could probably use a break after those last two, so it’s time to shift over to a heart-tugging twofer: family trauma mixed with the cutest shit you’ve ever seen. ODT is an example of another classic type of Japanese show: the food drama (you will see the GOAT in this category at the end of this list). In Japanese culture, food is love, and the act of preparing food for your loved ones is a common path to romance. You’ll love this story about an isolated office worker who meets a pair of brothers, learns to cook as a way of connecting with them, and begins to heal from his own trauma as a result. The image above is a scan from the manga, which @troubled-mind curates to make extremely cool comparison sets like this one. Many jbls are faithful adaptations of yaoi manga source material, so it’s good to have a bit of familiarity with them.
Minato’s Laundromat (Gaga)
Tumblr media
gif by @liyazaki
Japanese media loves to explore taboo, and often manages to do it in a way that is surprisingly light and chaste. This is an age gap romance between a teenager and his adult neighbor that explores internalized homophobia, emotional repression, and falling in love across seemingly impossible social chasms. It’s also a great example of old school yaoi seme-uke dynamics that still show up across the bl genre. Also, take my advice: end your journey with this one with the first season and just pretend season 2 doesn’t exist.
Eternal Yesterday (Viki)
Tumblr media
gif by @wanderlust-in-my-soul
Remember what I said about weird? Time to do that again, but with a heaping dose of grief and pain on top. It’s not a spoiler to tell you this show involves a major character death; a major character death is, in fact, the root of the entire story. This is a magic realist tale of first love turned tragic, and it will hurt and heal you. It is one of my favorite dramas of all time.
Restart After Come Back Home (Gaga)
And now for a break for your poor exhausted brain. This film is basically the jbl version of a Hallmark original movie, about a city boy who goes back home to the country and falls in love with a total sweetheart while working together on a farm. Enjoy it, bestie, you’ve earned it!
Tokyo in April Is… (Gaga)
Tumblr media
gif by @wanderlust-in-my-soul
You’ve probably noticed by now that emotional repression and failed communication are big themes in Japanese works. This second chance romance has plenty of both, and it’s a great example of a kind of muted emotional style that Japan does so well, where the surface of the story seems almost placid and calm even as deep emotion roils underneath. This one (and Eternal Yesterday above) are part of a special line up of jbls on Japanese channel MBS called Tonku (Drama) Shower. The shows air one after another in the same time slot on Fridays (in Japan, perhaps Thursdays for you depending on where you live) and you truly never know what you’re gonna get, but they’re all interesting. Warnings on this one for sexual assault and trauma.
The End of the World With You (Viki)
Time for sexy and weird again, but even more so! This has to be one of the most unique bls ever made; it goes to some truly divine and strange places, and it feels incredibly queer while doing it. Made by the same screenwriter/director of the Pornographer series with a lot of the same sensibilities, but in a more heightened apocalyptic setting. This one has existential angst, a road trip, a redemption tale, and a variety of interesting side characters in the mix.
What Did You Eat Yesterday? (Gaga)
Tumblr media
gif by @my-rose-tinted-glasses
Congratulations, you’ve reached the end of the list and your reward is watching one of the best bls of all time, and a perfect slice of life food drama to boot. WDYEY now has two seasons (along with a couple specials and a movie that fall in between) because the universe clearly loves us. You can now get it on Gaga for easy access but I’m partial to the versions over at @kinounaniresource for better subs. Wherever you watch, settle in to get cozy with Shiro and Kenji and make sure to always eat before you hit play.

While promoting Wish, Harvey recently gave an interview to ScreenRant and commented on filming WWDITS Season 6:
I mean, it's sad. We're all really sad, but I think it's the perfect amount of time. Think about it. Six seasons is a long time. Altogether, from the pilot until when we end the show, it'll be about seven years of our lives. Seven years of our lives is a long time to commit to a show that we love. We give it our best, but then eventually you never want to be on a show that overstays its welcome or a show that becomes like, "Oh, is that still on?" I'm proud to say that none of our seasons have ever made you feel that. If anything, it makes people want more. I think it's also a time thing where we're at in our lives, and the time that we have committed to the show and also the writers, they also have to decide how can we elongate this story, and how long can we go with it without making it, as you would say, jump the shark. You never want to jump the shark. So, I think we're really proud of the work that we have done and continue to do, and I think this last season is going to be the cherry on top. People are going to be like, "You know what? Yeah, that's the way to end this journey." I'm excited and also sad. We were just sitting with a cast on set the other day when Kayvan was getting nostalgic about, "Oh my God, I said that in the pilot," and he was just going down memory lane. It's just like, we've made lifelong friendships - like Kayvan and I have bonded so much, and he is one of my best friends. Literally, he calls to check up on how am I doing, and I go to London, where he and his fiancé cook me dinner. This show has gifted me so many things, and I think the best thing is a lifelong friendship.

All That Remains of the Day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis: movie night with Lixie
Warnings: MDNI established relationship, bf!felix, service top Felix, bottom ftm!reader, soft couch head with stoned bf while watching movies, mentions of weed (use responsibly/with trusted individuals), no proofreading we die like men
While most of your other friends who were in relationships were out enjoying the crisp fall air and general fall vibes, you and your boyfriend Felix were cuddled up under a blanket on the couch watching Corpse Bride. It had been a pretty shitty morning, not only did you wake up late for work but you couldn’t find your chest binder in time, meaning you booked it to your shift at the convenience store in a tight sports bra and an oversized t-shirt layered over a long sleeve. While you probably didn’t look all that different from your usual self, the nagging feeling of dysphoria kept reminding you throughout the day of your not-super-flat chest. It resulted in a slightly sour mood for your entire shift, the constant distraction from your brain causing a few slip ups at work, resulting in an earful from your boss.
The cherry on top truly was missing your bus home and almost getting hit by a cyclist who didn’t understand the concept of a bike lane, instead choosing to speed down the sidewalk and nearly crashing into you. Luckily the universe decided to show you some mercy and the next bus came on time, even if you still had to walk back to your apartment in the dark.
The cyclist might’ve narrowly missed you but your boyfriend didn’t, practically throwing his body into you the second you open the front door and koala hugging your figure. His arms pulled you into his chest, essentially engulfing you with his upper body before closing the front door behind you. “Y/n you’re cold, come on!” Felix whined in between pecks to your forehead.
There’s a brief moment where he pulls back to peel off your backpack and jacket, turning to hang them up while you toe off your sneakers. A second barely passes before he’s wrapped you back up into his chest again, guiding you into your living room and pushing your frame down to sit on the couch. “I’m gonna go get you some pjs, you sit here and pick a movie”, he ends with a kiss to your cheek before taking off in the direction of your shared bedroom.
You spend a few moments scrolling before ending on Corpse Bride, spending a few seconds selecting the film and pressing start. Felix is back just as the movie finishes loading, handing you a pair of sweatpants and a random T-shirt. While you’re changing out of your — probably horrific smelling — work clothes, Felix brings out a rectangular tray and starts rolling a joint he intends to share. You take a few steps to throw your work clothes into the laundry hamper (pls omg be clean don’t leave ur shit on the floor bro), then hurriedly flopping back onto the couch. Felix hands you his joint and a lighter, “You have the honors.”
You take the newly rolled joint between your lips, lighting the end and taking a deep inhale. As the smoke leaves your mouth when you exhale, you can feel the worries escape with it. It certainly helps that Felix is soothingly running his hand along your back, plucking the joint from your fingers while encouraging you to tell him the shitty details of your day. You pass the joint between each other as the opening sequence starts playing, Felix calmly listening and even massaging any knots in your shoulders he comes across. Your voice echoes over the film as you spill out all the frustrations of that day, trying to get your eyes to stop welling up but the weed in your system making it harder to hide any emotion, getting high with Felix meant wearing your emotions on your sleeves. The joint is long gone and the movie is a quarter way through when you finish recounting your day, fully leaning your upper half onto your boyfriend’s frame with his arms wrapped around you.
“I’m sorry my love,” Felix pecks your forehead before lifting your chin to make eye contact, “can I do anything else for you.”
You nod your head in a sideways motion before whispering, “being with you is making my day less shitty already.”
You hear his giggle before he’s pulling you in for a kiss, disregarding the movie and softly pushing you back to lay flat on the couch. He’s holding you so tenderly, pouring his love into the kiss. The fogginess in your head lets you forget the day’s events easier and focus solely on your boyfriend whose hands are traveling down to the waistband of your sweats. “Let me do more for you angel”
Being high with Felix usually meant his horniness became more apparent, his hands were always on your body and his lips were always placing kisses on you. You whimper when you feel him tug down your sweats and start to feel up on your core, earning a chuckle from him while he pulls your boxers down. You feel his hands traveling to grip the underside of your thighs, the band on his pinky reminding you of the promise ring you got him and then never took off. You can feel the cold metal on your thighs as he pulls them apart to slot his head in between.
He hears your gasps and hums out, “let all your worries leave that pretty head of yours okay” before licking a stripe up your core. He pulls your swollen tdick into his mouth and starts running circles over it with his tongue, letting out a muffled groan when your hands fly down to grip his hair and pull him closer. It’s embarrassing how quickly you start to approach your orgasm, you partly blame the weed for making your body so sensitive but you mostly blame Felix for learning how to please you in every possible way. It’s insane how quickly he learned your body, how to make you twitch and squirm or cry out in pleasure. He’s switching between licking and sucking your nerve when you feel his index finger start to prod at your entrance, slowly slipping in and curling up towards your stomach.
Your body erupts in goosebumps when his finger grazes a certain spot, you can almost feel his grin when he feels the bumps start to pebble your skin. He’s moaning into your tdick, his eyelids opening to meet your gaze and you can see the devilish joy he takes in making you fall apart on his mouth and fingers. He adds in a second finger as he releases your clit with an obscenely loud ‘pop’ before flicking it back and forth with his tongue, he’s absorbed in your facial expressions and sounds.
He can feel you getting close to your release, his fingers curling into you faster as he takes your clit back in his mouth. The added stimulation of his mouth back on you is what sends you over the edge, cumming over his fingers and tightening your grip on his hair. “Such a pretty boy,” he hums out while taking long licks of your release, “my handsome man.”
You’re panting harder than when you ran to catch the bus earlier in the day, your orgasm ripping through your body and leaving your knees feeling like jello. Felix meets you in a soft kiss, you can taste yourself on his tongue but you’re too fucked out to really care. The familiar sound of the end credits starts to play through your living room, catching both of you off guard since it meant you both completely forgot about the movie playing on the screen.
You’re both giggling as you tighten your hold on Felix, your boyfriend lowering himself to rest on top of you and nuzzle his head into the crook of your neck. You both fall asleep in that position, you carding your fingers through his hair and mumbling praises into his ear.
A/N: can’t sleep here’s some filth because my dorm mates can’t let me sleep :)))) I’m not internally screamcrying I swear -V

APPLE CIDER ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹ ᡣ𐭩
Tumblr media
description: fluff! just a drabble to start my account! any tips of my writing will be very much appreciated <33 loser!elle? modern au! enjoy ;) listen to apple cider by beabadoobee while reading
it had been a few days since you had moved in, you decided to explore the small shops lining the coastline, one in particular caught your eye, a small record store perched on a small lane at the end of the pebbled road. ‘williams records’ the sign hung low and poorly nailed to a piece of driftwood, you walked inside your cherry red converse creaking on the floorboards, you looked through the many albums your eyes landing on a small record player now playing ‘take on me’ by a-ha. cool. “looking for anything?” your interrupted, you look up to see an eager auburn haired girl looking at you, hair cut jagged at the shoulders and a name tag reading ‘ellie’ “um yes actually do you have ‘hunting high and low?” you ask“by a-ha?” she responds a small smile on her freckled face “sure i’ll go get for you-i’ll just be a second” she walks off quickly leaving you no time to respond
internally ellie’s freaking the fuck out, a pretty girl walks into her store and asks her about a-ha her favourite fucking band, there’s no way.
she returns a couple minutes later record in hand and a stupid smile hanging from her face “thank you” you smile “no problem so-uh i haven’t seen you around here?” she responds desperately trying to make any sort of small talk with you “yeah i’m with my dad for the summer thought i’d explore..i like your shop..by the way it’s really cool” you smile. she blushes. “thanks i’m ellie by the way-ELLIE! a voice shouts cutting her off “i can’t find this damn film c’mere for a sec kiddo” her face immediately turns a very dark red “that’s my dad uh-i guess i’ll see you around beautiful” she smiles and walks away very quickly nearly tripping over her untied laces on her way out. :)

3, 17 and 21!!
3. Who is your fave character OUTSIDE* of the main 7?
Well I just wrote a big fic about Evie, so I’m liking her a lot right now- but I don’t think that really counts since she’s never onscreen in the book :/
I guess otherwise I’d have to go with Marcia! I really liked the brief scene she had, and would have loved to see more of her. I mean I get why we didn’t, since I don’t think that would really fit in, but it’s still fun to think about. I do also like Cherry, but I admit a decent part of that is that I think Diane Lane is hot- uh lemme rephrase that, her performance was solid.
(Along a similar vein, I really like Buck Merril- less because of his character and more because I’ve been a Tom Waits fanboy since I was old enough to like music, and Tom Waits plays him in the film. I do like Cherry a lot more though, so her reasoning is more balanced- like 70% because I like her as a person and 30% because of her actress in the movie lol)
17. Are there any criticisms or salt you have with the book?
I mean it woulda been nice to see some non-white characters/more girl characters, but like it was the 60s so I think it did well enough for its time. And Johnny’s kinda ambiguously tan so that’s something I guess. I don’t really have any real salt with the book honestly, I think it did what it set out to do. And plus it was the first book I’d read in three years that I legit enjoyed reading lol so I ain’t got many complaints
21. Unpopular opinion/s?
Johnny Cade is tough as everyone else in the gang. This ain’t exactly an unpopular opinion I guess, but I see a lotta stuff that portrays him as sorta weak and sad- but c’mon guys, he’s tough. I think sometimes people hear Ponyboy’s description of “short-big-eyed-kicked-puppy” and forget that Pony also says Johnny rarely cries, looks like a hood, and is good at fighting- I mean guys, Johnny’s closer in age to Sodapop than he is to Pony! Idk just he’s quiet and can be sensitive doesn’t mean he’s not outwardly rough like the other greasers, and I wish more people would remember that? (Again don’t get me wrong plenty of folks DO ABSOLUTELY remember it, but sometimes I’ll find something that mischaracterizes him so badly…) (...I mean who cares really, everyone's just having fun at the end of the day. Still it does occasionally grind my gears lol)
Thanks for asking, these were great questions! Lemme know what your thoughts are too on these :))

First try, baby!
Being loyal to the true meaning of this phrase, I’m starting my “First Ever” blog, again. I will go down THAT lane some other time, but for now, to not overload myself with too much work, and, which is more important, to better sell myself this blog to you, my pretty reader, I will tell you what I’m up to here.
So, if ever you caught yourself being bored with an over-regular, annoyingly consistent, and disturbingly theme-focused blog then I have a solution for you: This Blog.
Tumblr media
Nothing has ever been regular with me (pretty sure I have an allergy to this). Consistency is an unforgivable curse in my world (luckily it barely works though). And the variety of my interests and hobbies is scantily marketable for any social media (and hardly manageable for me as well).
Hi! Hello. My name is Kate and welcome to my corner.
Here I will:
Outline my learning progress with any good tips I came across and handy thoughts if such spurt in Game Design, Creative Writing, Art, and Languages (mainly English and Spanish but if I’ll go wild then also Japanese).
Proudly (though not always) broadcast my creative process within my numerous creative projects (I have two illustrated books, around twenty PC games, five mobile games, half of a dozen novels, and a whole galaxy of multi-themed short stories on my ‘to-make’ list. And also a manga, an animation storyboard, two YouTube series, screenplays for several short films, and two TV shows.).
Share my biased and probably unpopular opinions about Video Games that I have to play (apparently that’s a requirement for becoming a Game Designer, who would know).
Maybe write about my life experience and its influence on what I’m trying to achieve here (though do not believe most of my words because, you know, storytelling).
Also, reposts and comments on my Minecraft blog and AO3 works (Yeah, I’m also a Minecraft Youtuber and mcyt fan, how fancy!).
So, as you can see I am a Jack of many trades and a master of none. Though I actually want to become a master of some of these trades, hence I’m making this blog, aka Master Journal. (How I ended up living almost half of my life up to this point not ‘mastering’ any of the above while constantly dreaming, I’ll tell some other time).
So, get yourself comfortable here, click that fancy blue Follow word (isn’t it annoyingly visible? Just remove it 😋), take my sloppy learning sketches as my gratefulness for your attention, and see you at the next post. 2. Because <3.

Cherry Lemon Ship Masterpost

City Lights AU & Cloudlands AU
🌸 Cherry Lemon Overview 🍋
Dale (Doug Dimmadome's only child) and Hadley (Ed Leadly's middle daughter) grew up attending fancy social gatherings together (both before and after Dale's disappearance). Weren't super close, but definitely knew each other.
At ages 19 and 16, their dads arranged a betrothal, extended it to each of them, and they accepted- both relieved to marry someone they knew rather than some out-of-state relative of their dads' business associates.
Dale knew Hadley's older sister (Harper) a bit better, but Harper flipped out and said no to being betrothed without love- Harper still resents Hadley for not fighting her betrothal, but Dale still considers her a friend despite the sisters' tension.
After Hadley turned 21, they were married in January 2012 (the wedding planned well in advance by their dads, of course). Hadley was halfway through her Junior year of college and Dale hard at work on his own studies.
Dev was born in spring 2014; Hadley posted a lot of mommy vlogger content in his youth before moving towards travel vlogging. These days, she's gone for long stretches of time, but returns home for most holidays (to film family vlogs).
They're not the most lovey-dovey, but a lot of their interests and personality traits overlap, and they are definitely one of the couples to ever be. Relationship highlights include:
- Hadley's hoarding OCD vs. Dale's neat and tidy OCD. - They are sickeningly cute in matching holiday pajamas. They're also young parents who don't know what they're doing. - Dale can list 100 things he likes about his wife, but he could also walk away from this relationship at the drop of a hat. oh no. - Dale takes his ring off a lot for sensory reasons and chronically fails to indicate he's married, so he keeps going on dates he thinks are business meetings. Sometimes he brings Dev, who is horrified. Half his associates think Hadley is his personal assistant. - Hadley is paranoid Dale will cheat on her, so she'll call randomly to ask if her name is still written on his chest in marker. Sometimes at 3:30 AM because she forgets to check time zones. Things are going great. - They have their ups and downs, but they'd pick each other every time. Probably. Huh... Maybe that IS love.
I enjoy them very much, actually. Shout-out to me sighing and dumping old drafts of Adult Dale being super nervous and shy off to the side because now I have no choice but to play him as a horrible man, sdflkj. Deep down, he's still the awkward, jumpy person I always planned to write him as... he's just actively awful too <3

Vintage Vibes: Your Ultimate Mood Board for Indie-Inspired Love
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey babe! 🌸 Ready to take a trip down memory lane and dive into the dreamy, nostalgic world of indie-inspired love? Welcome to Vintage Vibes, where we’re all about capturing the spirit of 2000s romance through mood boards, love letters, and playlists that’ll have you feeling all the feels. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic or just love the aesthetic, this is your go-to spot for everything vintage, dreamy, and oh-so-indie. So grab your favorite pen, light a candle, and let’s get lost in the magic of it all! 🎧✨
The Vintage Vibes Aesthetic: Where Nostalgia Meets Indie Romance 🌟
Picture this: a sun-drenched afternoon, the smell of old books and vinyl records in the air, and a stack of love letters tied with a ribbon. That’s the vibe we’re channeling here – a mix of indie cool and vintage charm that feels like it belongs in a Sofia Coppola film. It’s all about capturing the essence of 2000s romance, with a touch of nostalgia that makes your heart skip a beat.
This isn’t just about love – it’s about a whole mood. We’re talking Polaroid photos, handwritten notes, mixtapes, and playlists that feel like they were made just for you. Whether you’re in love, dreaming of it, or just vibing with the aesthetic, Vintage Vibes is here to help you create your own little world of indie-inspired romance.
1. Mood Board Magic: Creating the Perfect Indie Love Vibe 🎨
Let’s start by setting the scene with a mood board that captures all the feels of indie romance. Here’s how to create your own dreamy, nostalgic collage that’ll have you swooning:
Polaroid Photos: There’s something so timeless about a Polaroid. The grainy, instant film captures moments in a way that feels so authentic and real. Collect Polaroids of you and your love, or just of moments that make your heart flutter – a sunset, a coffee date, or a cozy corner of your favorite café. Pin them up on your mood board for an instant dose of nostalgia.
Handwritten Love Letters: Nothing says romance like a love letter. Write your own or collect vintage ones from thrift stores, flea markets, or online shops. The beauty of a handwritten note is that it’s personal, unique, and totally timeless. Place these letters on your mood board as a reminder of the power of words – and the magic of love.
Vintage Vinyl Covers: The 2000s indie scene was all about vinyl. Find some old record covers that capture the vibe you’re going for – maybe a little The Smiths or The Cure to set the mood. The artwork alone is enough to transport you back in time, and the music? Well, that’s just the cherry on top. Use these as inspiration for the kind of love that’s as classic as it is cool.
Pressed Flowers and Dried Leaves: There’s something so poetic about pressed flowers. They’re fragile, beautiful, and full of memories. Add some to your mood board for a touch of nature and romance – whether they’re from a special date or just remind you of a favorite moment. The earthy tones and delicate textures will bring your board to life.
Old Ticket Stubs and Postcards: Collect ticket stubs from concerts, movies, or museums you’ve visited, and postcards from places that hold a special place in your heart. These little mementos tell a story – your story – and add a personal touch to your mood board. They’re a reminder that love isn’t just about the big moments, but the small ones, too.
2. Love Letters: Pour Your Heart Out, the Indie Way 💌
Now that we’ve set the scene, let’s talk about love letters. In the age of texts and DMs, there’s something so romantic about taking the time to write a letter by hand. Here’s how to craft a love letter that captures the indie spirit:
Start with a Song: Every great love letter needs a soundtrack. Start by thinking of a song that reminds you of your love, whether it’s an old indie track from the 2000s or something new that just feels right. Use the lyrics as inspiration, or even quote them in your letter. Music and love go hand in hand, and there’s no better way to set the tone.
Write from the Heart: Don’t worry about being perfect – just be real. Talk about how you feel, the little things that make you smile, and the moments that mean the most to you. It’s the honesty and vulnerability that make a love letter special. And if you’re feeling a little shy? Just pretend you’re writing lyrics to your own indie love song.
Get Creative with the Paper: Who says a love letter has to be on plain white paper? Use old book pages, sheet music, or even an old map to write your letter on. The texture and look of the paper add to the overall vibe, making your letter feel like something from another time. It’s all about creating something that feels uniquely yours.
Seal It with a Kiss: For the final touch, seal your letter with a kiss – literally! Use some lipstick to leave a kiss mark, or seal the envelope with wax for that vintage feel. It’s those little details that make the letter extra special and show just how much you care.
3. Playlists that Capture the Spirit of 2000s Romance 🎧
Of course, no indie-inspired love journey is complete without a playlist. Here are some must-have tracks to set the mood for your vintage romance:
“First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes: This song is pure indie love magic. With its gentle guitar and heartfelt lyrics, it’s the perfect track for those quiet moments when you’re just happy to be in love.
“Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service: A quintessential 2000s indie love song. It’s sweet, a little quirky, and totally timeless. Whether you’re driving around town or just lying on the floor together, this song captures the joy of being in love.
“Maps” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs: A song that’s both tender and powerful. Karen O’s raw emotion makes this track one of the most iconic love songs of the indie era. It’s perfect for those moments when you’re feeling all the feels.
“To Be Alone With You” by Sufjan Stevens: Sufjan Stevens’ soft, ethereal sound is perfect for those late-night moments when you’re feeling introspective. This song is all about intimacy and connection – everything that indie romance is made of.
“I Will Follow You into the Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie: A love song that’s both haunting and beautiful. It’s a reminder that true love is about being there for each other, through thick and thin. Definitely a must for any indie love playlist.
Final Thoughts, Gorgeous: Let’s Dive into Vintage Vibes and Celebrate Indie Love 🌟
Vintage Vibes isn’t just about the past – it’s about capturing a feeling, a moment in time when love felt pure, simple, and totally magical. Whether you’re creating your own mood board, writing a heartfelt love letter, or just vibing to a playlist that takes you back to the 2000s, remember that indie love is all about being true to yourself and embracing the beauty of imperfection.
So go ahead, babe – get creative, get nostalgic, and most importantly, get lost in the magic of indie-inspired romance. Because at the end of the day, love is all about the moments we create and the memories we hold onto. Let’s make some beautiful ones together.
What’s your favorite indie love song or memory? Let’s chat in the comments and share all the vintage vibes! 💕

Billy Hargrove’s Haunted Bong
For Harringrove Week March 29, Happy Billyday! Also on AO3 Here.
Specific Dialogue: “You don’t know what you put me through.”
NSFT-ish, just at the end.
Steve feels a little awkward picking through Billy Hargrove’s stuff. His dad’s gone, and now Max and her Mom are moving, they need to get rid of the excess, he knows that. There’s some of Billy’s dad’s stuff here, too, though a lot of it has been picked over by the neighborhood moms, trying to get shoes for their husbands and stuff.
There’s less of a market for teenage boy stuff, though Tommy has a few button downs slung over his arm, and apparently Max unloaded a bunch of Billy’s tapes on ‘The Freak’ Eddie Munson.
Steve is really here more as a favor to Max. He doesn’t know what he would do with a Scorpions t-shirt, or a stack of books. Who knew that Billy read so much, anyway?
Max walks over and crosses her arms, “Hey. Want you to see something.”
He shrugs, tossing the paperback he was never going to buy back in a pile, “Ok.”
Max leads him up the stairs and into the half packed house and into a mostly empty room. There’s a bed that’s been stripped, and a small cardboard box, open and half full on it. Steve catches a glimpse of a few tapes inside, and a handful of clothes. Maybe it’s stuff they’re saving.
Max holds up two cans of Aquanet, “Do you want these? I’ll give them to you for a dime.”
Steve fights to keep his face neutral, “Uh, not my brand. But thanks.”
“How about this?” She holds up a bottle of cologne, Paco Rabanne.
He shrugs, “Sure. How much?” This is probably fine, a non-weird thing to get, anyway.
“Uh... a quarter?” She says distractedly while he glances down to dig in his pocket for change. “And what about this?”
He looks up and almost chokes on his spit. It is without a doubt the biggest bong he’s seen in person.
“Put that down!” He says.
She scowls, “What’s your problem?”
“N-nothing. Didn’t Eddie want that?” Steve really would feel better if she put it down. Maybe stepped away from it too.
“He took the other one,” She shrugs, “Why? What’s wrong with it? It’s just a vase.”
Right. Just a vase.
He snatches it from her hands, just wanting to get it out of the house, “How much?”
“Uh... a dollar. No! Two dollars!” She cries.
He rolls his eyes, because this thing is probably expensive as shit, but he just wants it out of her house.
“Sure,” He pulls a couple of bucks out of his wallet, “I’ll see you, okay?”
She nods, counting the money, “You want your change?”
“No, nope, just gonna head right home,” And smash this thing to pieces, he thinks.
He hops in the beemer, throwing his vase across the passenger’s seat along with the cologne. It really is enormous, blue swirling glass that would be kind of pretty if it wasn’t dirty with old bong water and stuff.
“Never let it be said I never did anything for you, Hargrove,” He grumbles, eyes searching the road wildly.
He turns the corner off Cherry Lane, shaking his head.
“I mean, whatever. I didn’t like... jump in front of a monster. Though I did. For Max, I mean,” He tightens his hands on the wheel, “Whatever. You know what I mean.”
He glances down at the bong and the cologne.
He shakes his head, “You would think I was high already.”
The bong glints in the afternoon sunlight, reflecting the blue skies out the window and the slowly turning leaves.
“You know my birthday is tomorrow,” Steve says, to no one. “I guess I could have one smoke. Just to see what I’m missing.”
The sunlight glints, and it’s almost like a wink.
He’s going crazy, that’s the only explanation for why he heads home and takes the bong into his house instead of throwing it away. He dumps the old water in the sink, trying to take it apart so he can rinse it out. He might actually catch some kind of disease smoking out of this thing, considering Billy died in July and it’s halfway through January.
He shakes his head at himself, dunking the bong into the water and rubbing the side, trying to take off the film of hairspray and weed smoke that’s formed a crust along the sides. Probably he won’t smoke from it. It’s a lost cause.
The bong trembles in his hands and he rears back into the kitchen island, soapy water splashing everywhere. Blue smoke comes from the top, pale denim blue that swirls in the air and shifts and then...
Billy fucking Hargrove is sitting on the edge of his kitchen sink.
He looks much the same as he always did, shirtless, tanned and perfect with a necklace glinting from his chest. Winking in the sunlight.
“Harrington,” He says with a smile.
“H-holy shit.” Maybe Steve is high. How did he get this high and he doesn’t even remember smoking?
“Aren’t you a sight for sore eyes,” Billy’s eyes sparkle, electric blue. Were they always that blue, glowingly blue? They look like Kyle McLaughlin’s eyes in that freaky movie Dustin dragged Steve to a few weeks ago.
“This is not happening,” Steve shakes his head, “This isn’t happening.”
Billy laughs, full and open, and then the blue smoke is back, smelling like Paco Rabanne and cigarettes and Aquanet, swirling through the air.
“What do you wish for, Pretty Boy?” Billy’s voice sounds like it’s coming from  right in Steve’s ear, but when he looks, the Billy on his counter is just smiling mischievously.
“Uhhh...”
Billy disappears and the smoke surrounds Steve. He clings to the countertop, the only thing that feels solid. Smoke slides along his face and arms, like a caress.
“Make a wish,” Billy’s voice beacons, “Birthday Boy.”
“I-if I blow hard enough, will you disappear?” Steve mumbles, not sure what kind of weird dream this is.
“If you blow?” Billy whispers, his tongue sliding along his lower lip teasingly.
“What are you?”
“You’ve never heard of a genie? Djinn is more accurate,” Billy’s voice is behind him now, along the back of Steve’s neck, sending goosebumps down his spine. Billy hums and it takes Steve a few moments before he picks out the theme to I Dream of Jeannie. “Should I call you, Master?”
“It’s not real,” Steve half laughs, “You died. I saw you die.”
“Where did the body go, Harrington? Disappeared... like smoke...” Billy appears in front of him, sudden and solid, “Poof.”
“You’re not a genie, though,” Steve shakes his head, “They aren’t real.”
“Try me, Harrington,” Billy smiles, eyes blazing.
“Uh...” Steve blinks at Billy’s face, so very close. He’s had dreams like this. Billy Hargrove, close and within reach, kind and laughing and oh so kissable.
“Go on,” Billy’s chin juts forward, and its so much like Steve’s dreams, he gives in. Maybe it is a dream. A weird one, but one of his regular dreams.
“Is it a three wishes kind of deal?” He asks.
Billy shrugs, “Dunno. I came to in a van full of shouting Russians who shoved green liquid down my throat. And then smoke poured out of my mouth, my ears, my eyes, and I turned into... this. Tried to go home, get Max’s attention. But then I got sucked into that thing when I got too close.”
Steve stares at him, at his lips actually. Is it nighttime already, or is it just the smoke swirling around?
“S.S. Butterscotch,” He mumbles.
“What?”
“I want a scoop of Scoops Ahoy S. S. Butterscotch,” Steve chokes, “Haven’t had it since the mall... uh...”
Billy puts a hand behind his back and winks at Steve, sending an electric bolt of lust down his spine.
“Your wish is my command,” Billy pulls his hand out and there’s a waffle cone stacked with a single scoop of S. S. Butterscotch, as smooth and round as if Steve had done it himself.
Billy raises it up to Steve’s lips, his eyes going dark and cloudy blue when Steve licks along the top. A shiver runs down his spine from the top of his head, making his knees weak.
“Oh, Harrington. You don’t know what you put me through,” Billy smiles, “Never thought I’d see you again. Never.”
Steve blinks, his mouth swirling with the flavor he’s been craving since Starcourt.
Steve finally manages to dig his claws out of the counter and reaches out, knocking the cone to the side. Well, it’s his dream. He might as well get to do what he wants.
Billy Hargrove tastes like woodsmoke and butterscotch and he groans into Steve’s mouth like he’s real, like he’s oh so human again.
Blue smoke trails up Steve’s spine like a featherlight touch, and he trembles, falling forward, hands digging into Billy’s hair. He’s always dreamed about boys and girls, he’s always had a lot of sex dreams, but they never felt like this.
Billy’s chest is warm, though there’s no heartbeat. But his tongue is wet and wicked and alive, and tendrils of smoke are curling against Steve’s overheated skin while Billy’s fingers dig into his hips. Holy shit.
Steve groans when Billy begins to slowly drag his hands to the placket of Steve’s jeans, teasing along the buttons. His tongue is teasing the inside of Steve’s lips, turning all of his thoughts to liquid lust.
Then Billy disappears into smoke and laughter, and invisible hands trail along Steve’s cock, under his jeans... through his jeans...
“Oh fuck,” Steve gasps, hips working. “Don’t stop.”
“Feel good?” Billy’s voice is somewhere on the ceiling.
“Fuck, yes, B-Billy... fuck...”
“Wanna make you feel so good,” Billy says softly, his voice crackling like a flame, “Wanna make you cream your jeans.”
Steve is embarrassingly close to that already, “R-Revenge?”
“For all the times you turned me on in class? No. But good guess,” Billy practically purrs when a smoky finger flicks the head of Steve’s cock and Steve cries out.
Steve gasps, “T-then...”
“Haven’t touched anyone in six months,” Billy laughs, and it echoes off all the polished surfaces of the Harrington’s pristine kitchen. “And you’re so touchable.”
Steve closes his eyes before they roll back in his head and makes an inarticulate noise, “Fuck, Billy... I’m... I’m... g-gonna...”
Billy’s corporeal in a moment, hand pressed over the invisible fingers, pressing Steve’s cock hard into his stomach, a kiss to the corner of his mouth, “Come on, Pretty Boy. Get there.”
Steve’s orgasm bursts through him like a wildfire, and he screams into Billy’s shoulder, pressing his mouth against flexing muscle in a vain attempt to silence himself. Blood roars in his ears and he passes out into Billy’s waiting arms. He half expects to go right through them, but they catch him, sure and steady.
When he wakes up, his eyes are blurry and his body is blissed out, floating like it hasn’t since Starcourt. He sits up in his bed and looks around the room but there’s no one there.
Oh shit. It really was a dream. He bites down the bitterness and looks down at the bed beside him.
It’s the bong, gleaming and blue, glass colors swirled together like smoke. The morning light glints off the edge. Like a wink.
“Good morning, pretty boy,” The voice rumbles through the room and Steve closes his eyes. Wishes he was dreaming.

I swear Max and Flayed Billy live in the same house but in different timelines
in season 2 Max says she lives on Old Cherry Road but in season 3 she says Cherry Lane. deliciously same-yet-different.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so intriguing that she says HE lives on Cherry Lane. not they.
I'm reopening my investigation of how weird Max's attitude is when El wants to go snoop in Billy's stuff. she seems hesitant to enter the house altogether, as if they're about to break into a stranger's house, when it's her own house. and then literally only hours later, she feels safe having El sleep over there, even though Billy is exactly as not-home as he was earlier.
I did an analysis once about how Max's hesitation has more to do with her being in denial about Billy, which I still believe, but now with the timeline theory in mind I'm recontextualizing the way she acts almost like they don't live in the same house.
maybe they don't:
once Billy is flayed, he and Max are never both in their house at the same time.
we see Max and normal Billy at home together a couple times:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but we see the house so many times in 3, and as far as I can remember, it's an absolute rule that whenever one of them is home, the other is not. (we know whether Billy is home depending on whether his car is parked outside. we see this when Lucas visits in 2x6. Max tells us this in 3x3.)
Max skateboarding in the street. Billy isn't home.
Billy takes his ice bath after kidnapping Heather. Max doesn't go home at all that night, she's staying at El's.
Max and El enter the house to snoop. Billy isn't home.
sleepover at Max's house. Billy still isn't home.
El sees Billy sitting on his bed on the 4th of July. Max isn't home.
Max sitting on Billy's bed after his death. Billy is obviously not home.
and it's not that Max is just steering clear of Billy because he's possessed - the pattern is consistent even before she knows that.
it's giving "Flayed Billy literally lives in a different timeline" where a demobat flapped its wings and now Old Cherry Road is called Cherry Lane.
that house number is wrong too
they don't live at 4819 anything: the number on their house is consistently 5280.
Tumblr media
I don't know what we think of 8flix, but 4819 is in the script
Tumblr media
5280 is the real address they left on that house when they filmed. you can see it on Google street view. (no the street isn't Cherry anything) so if there is an error here, it's that they didn't think the house number had already been distinguishable when they wrote that line of dialogue.
Tumblr media
It could fit into the time fuckery of it all instead of being an error, but if the vibe I'm getting here truly held water, there should be a distinct "Max's house" and a "Billy's house" (sorta like the Warm Will / Cool Will theory) - it's "Max's house" when Max is skateboarding but "Billy's house" when they're preparing to snoop - but the house numbers are visibly the same both times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if the rainy day one had said 4819 I would've flipped.
so to make this work, I'm gonna pretend Max and Normal Billy live at 5280 Old Cherry Road while Flayed Billy lives at 4819 Cherry Lane (we don't actually see the house numbers in any Flayed-Billy-at-home scenes) and Max was just being weird about her own house because of denial.
thoughts?
