So I've seen a couple of Demon twin prompts that have Danny and Damien knowing and keeping in touch with each other over the years with the Batfam none the wiser (The funniest being that Damien had Danny go and replace him for a week then the two played it off like it had been happening since Damien was brought to the manor. Another good one had Danny quickly dropping off Ellie with Damien leaving him to introduce Bruce to his granddaughter). How would this play out for you? Would Danny have run with Damien faking killing him, would he have just disappeared from the compound (?) One day?
Their mother had given birth to identical twins. Damien was born three whole minutes before Danny, which shouldn't have mattered much but to the Ra's it meant the world of difference.
Ra's did not want to raise more than one hire. He did not believe in spares or succession struggles. He gave Talia the ultimatum,- pick one twin to raise in their ways and give the other up to a civilian family or lose them both and her status.
Talia will never claim to be an angel. She knew that her heart was cold and wrenched as needed to cleanse the world. She was far too selfish to even consider becoming a civilian away from the league.
It wasn't a bad life, in the end, to become a regular civilian but it was not for her. Ra's had many children who were never deemed worthy of being part of his greater plans. He never mistreated them, but ultimately he ignored them and they grew up not knowing the blood that ran through their veins.
Talia herself knew of six siblings- all different ages and races- that she had seen from a distance. Her father would take her sometimes to see them, to be reminded that unlike them, she was destined for greatness.
They were nicknamed as the Lost by one of Father's past heirs. He had died fifty years before Talia's time but he was known for his surprisingly humorous outlook on life. How Ra could stand it, she will never know.
Sometimes Talia pitted her Lost siblings. They would be outlived by their father- as all of his children thus far have been- but they would never know the waste their lives had become. They would never know the glory of battle, the rush of leading an army, or the satisfaction of successful missions.
They lived in a rose-colored world inside a small fish bowl. Her Lost siblings would never know the vast wonder of the world.
Sometimes Talia envied her Lost siblings. Even though they had no real impact on the world, no real importance, they lived peaceful lives. They grew, made friends, and fell in love without fear of being betrayed. A foolish belief but one that seemed almost blissful.
How light would their shoulders be to not have to carry the weight that Talia has known all her life? Weight to be the best, to be the killer her father required, to allow her son to head to a possible death day after day.
None of them had to worry about their children never returning from a mission like she did. That's why she trained Damian so harshly, why she pushed and pushed until he reached perfection. If she didn't, then Damian would be bested in the field and his death would shatter what little humanity she still held.
She had taken Danny- her sweet youngest boy- to America to entrust him to her Beloved. It was only as she arrived on American soil did she realized that Bruce would not be satisfied with only one twin.
He would do everything in his power to get them both. Despite the years he trained with them, after learning their ways and their mission, Bruce did not approve of the League.
He was powerful enough to succeed in taking Damian as well if she gave him the chance.
Talia chooses to not do so. She instead stopped at the closest city that was miles and miles away from Bruce Wayne. She found Amity Park, a small sleepy town that would never gather much attention let alone Bruce's, and located a couple struggling for a second child.
After her men screened them and after making sure that they were harmless despite their eccentric research into ghosts, she gave the Fentons her Danny in adoption.
When she signed the adoption forms, Danny offically became a Lost sibling. She flew home, and held Damian just a tad bit tighter and longer, allowing only a few tears to fall before shutting away her heart.
She visited him through the years, but never within sight. Danny was unaware of her presence, as he stumbled his way with his life. He was unpopular with his peers, uncoordinated in basically everything, and the idea of him harming anything was laughable.
He had too much of his Father's heart but none of his will.
Talia made the right choose in getting him out. He would not have survived long within her lifestyle.
When her sons turned six, Talia had chosen to take Damian to see his Lost brother. She had two motives for doing so. The first was to show Damian what became of those deemed unworthy. To let him see that he had been given the honor of being the twin to inherit all that the Al Ghuls could offer.
The second was so that Damian could see his brother still lived, even as worthless and meaningless as he did so, he was still alive. He would know nothing of their world but he would still be able to walk through a different one.
She hoped but never voiced that he would find comfort in this and maybe even affection for her foolish Lost brother.
_________________________________________________________
What she was not aware of, was that Damian Al Ghul was just as selfish as she was. Once he saw what he deemed as his there was little in this world that would stop him from owning it.
He believed he was entitled to having a connection with his blood brother so underneath Talia's and the League of Assassins' noses, Damian did just that. He officially introduced himself to Danny when he was eight and told him the truth about their heritage.
Danny welcomed him with open arms. Despite being polar opposites in personality the identical twins were the best of friends. Damian always looked forward to seeing his brother for a short visit whenever the opportunity arose.
Danny was always pleased to host him for a weekend and the Fentons were more than happy to have him over. They may not have been able to adopt Damian but he was just as much their son as Danny was.
Damian just wishes he could return the gesture but if he ever had the Fentons over at Nanda Parbat they would all be dead within the first thirty minutes.
It was best to go to Danny.
Then Damian went to live with Father. It was a rough adjustment and he is not proud of his less-than-optimal reaction to Father's adoptive siblings seeing as the Fentons had proved blood is not required to love a child. It took months of getting used to living there before he was comfortable enough to go visit Danny again.
They spoke every night on the phone, however, since he no longer had to worry about traitorous warriors reporting his contact with a Lost sibling. He told Danny everything about the Waynes, just as Danny told him everything about being Phantom.
They just forgot to tell any of the Waynes about him.
Damian offered to have him over now that he knew Father would never harm his brother, and that the other Wayne children wouldn't kill him either. Danny, ever the most mischievous of the two, had a better idea.
"We could prank the family instead." Danny chirps floating above his bed, headphones in his ear as tries to play videogames upside down. He grins at the screen where Damian stares back at him.
Facetiming Danny can be a bit difficult when his brother has a hard time sitting still.
Damian wasn't strong enough to say no to him.
____________________________________________________________
"Master Bruce" Alfred didn't shout exactly but it was a near darn thing that had everyone in the cave tensing up. They all turned to an older man who was nervously gesturing to a screen. "We seem to have a guest"
They gather around the older man, watching as a teenage boy wearing baggy oversized sleepwear rampages through the kitchen in an ill-fated attempt to make...a sandwitch?
"How did he get in?" Bruce demands at once watching the boy pour himself a large cup of milk. His face was turned away so they couldn't see him clearly but-
"What are you all babbling about? That's not a guest." Damian scoffs after pushing his way to the front of the computers. He waves a hand at the stranger and it is conveniently at that exact moment that he turns around gulping down his milk.
It's an exact replica of his youngest. What in the world?
"Demon Brat" Jason starts slowly, hand reaching for his gun. Bruce would be angry by that, except he's not exactly sure that his son is standing with them now "Who is that?
"Obviously it's Daniel."
"Who?" Dick asks
Here Damian actually pauses looking around at everyone in as close to alarm as Bruce has ever seen him. "Daniel. My brother. Do you all not remember him?"
"Master Damian, this is the first time I have heard of your brother," Alfred stressed, the tone just a tad bit off from being upset. Damian's eyes widen behind his mask suddenly looking rather small.
He stares at the butler like he has never seen him properly nodding his head to the Batcomputer. "Check for yourself."
"I'll do it." Tim offers strolling over. With Babs on vacation with her father, he is the best with computers. He will know if something has been altered. A few clicks on the keyboard was the only sound within the cave as everyone stood around in unease.
A quick hiss between his teeth has Tim announcing. "Demon Brat isn't lying."
There on the multiple screens is proof that for the past four years- since Damian came to live with them- there was Danny. The brother with a medical condition that made being a Bat impossible.
Tim even had a personal folder- one he made but couldn't remember making based on his wonderous expression- titled "Angel Brat". Apparently, he and Danny got on like a house on fire. At least according to the files.
"Are you all quite sure you have no recollection of Daniel?" Damian questioned. His stance is protective, tense in a way Bruce has come to know as his son being nervous.
None of this makes sense. The last time Damian was this nervous was the last large Justice Leauge mission when all hands were on deck to fix the timeline-
Oh No.
"Damian, on the last rank 10 mission of the league you were the only one on the Watchtower when Flash shifted us back. Even Alfred was commanding a tank that day." He states waiting until his son nods in agreement. Around him, everyone was equally tense likely realizing the same thing.
"I was not alone Father. Daniel was with me. I couldn't possibly control all those stations alone."
Of course.
"Damian, I'm afraid the last mission erased Daniel from our timeline. I do not remember him."
His son's eyes practically bug out of his head. He swings around in small circles looking towards the rest of the family. His jaw clenched at their blank expressions.
None of them remembered Daniel either.
"We must inform Daniel at once-"
"No!" Dick shouts, cutting him off. There was a slump in his shoulders as he spoke much less sharply now. "If we do that, there is a chance that Time will try to force his existence out. It could.... erase Daniel completely."
"So what? We just pretend to know the kid? Lie to him?" Steph scoffs,
"Yeah as much as it sucks. I've worked with Bart long enough to know that there is a real danger in telling Daniel the truth." Tim sighs running his hands over his face.
"That's fucking great." Jason sneers, kicking a chair. Duke's hands are curled into tight fists, while Cass is looking at Damian with a sad frown.
Damian sneers at them, fleeing into the showers. Cass is one step behind him. Likely for the best, his eldest daughter has always been the best one to confine into. If anyone can get Damian talking about his feelings without being too pushy, it's her.
Alfred remains silent but his posture is stiff and straight. He is equally as displeased as his more explosive children. Not that Bruce couldn't blame him.
His heart has already shattered a dozen times over once Daniel's files have been brought up. He has forgotten his son. Has lost him in a way as close to death.
He flickers through them with the family. Everyone wants to remember as much as possible. There is so much. Daniel has a heart condition that has him attached to a heart pump, his consistently cold and is rarely strong enough to wander too far away from the manor.
In fact, he seems to collapse a lot like his legs just become intangible. Talia isn't aware he is still alive- Damian broke the rules to get him out of the league before his plan execution due to his condition.
Despite all of this, Danny had the biggest heart out of them. He seemed to be the kind of person with an easy smile, and happy pun waiting. He is so gentle that Tim's nickname "Angel Brat" is not just a mirror of Damian's
And Bruce forgot him.
To make matters worse the cave's elevator dings on, and down it comes Daniel himself. He looks exhausted, likely not used to being up so late but he smiles at them all warmly anyway
"Hey guys! Welcome home!" He greets. He rushes forward, hugging everyone with ease that not even Dick has been able to do. His movements are done so naturally that this must be how he greets them every night.
Everyone lets him and he doesn't seem surprised by the fact they return the hugs.
Bruce feels like vomiting as his youngest- Damian is older- smiles up at him. "Welcome home Dad! Love you."
"I..." His words catch in his throat. Daniel tilts his head confused but Bruce pushes through wrapping his arms around him just as tightly. "I love you too son."
"Tell the others you love them too" Daniel whispers in his ear. "Don't forget that they need to be shown through words and gestures too Dad!"
Bruce stiffens, unsure if he should but he doesn't have enough information to deny Daniel anything. If he suspects something is wrong he may zap himself out of existence. He can't let that happen.
He pulls back from Daniel after a moment, and then without giving the others warning, he reaches for the child closest to him. Jason yelps as he is dragged into Bruce's warm embrace. "I love you, Jason."
"Ugh what?" Jason sounds confused from above him- when did his little boy get so tall?- but he wraps his arms around him too, giving the beaming Daniel a quick glance before he mutters. "Love you too old man."
Bruce turns to Dick who is practically bouncing on his heels, arms held out. He steps into them easily, grunting as Dick squeezes him with all his might. "I love you, Dick"
"I love you too!"
Tim is staring with wide longing eyes over Dick's shoulder and Bruce knows he will have to hug him next. Behind him, Daniel has moved to embrace both Jason and Steph, which triggered a group-wide personal hug.
Even Alfred is there affording hugs and I love yous.
It's.....nice.
_____________________________________________________________
None of the Bats are good enough to read the body launage as Cass is. She saw the mischievous glee her new brother was hiding as he went around hugging everyone.
Damian taps her wrist. "Will you keep quiet of Daniel's harmless jest?"
She smiles. "Funny. They think they can't say no to him. "
"Oh, Dad! Now that you're back can I paint your nails?" Daniel asks loudly. "I have the best black nail polish!"
"....I suppose that is fine."
Damian cracks a smile. "My brother is a menace."

You were watching the stage, as the group of boys on stage were dancing, smiles on their faces as they interacted with fans. The lights were flashing, bass loud, and fans were screaming and singling along. The atmosphere was electric, adrenaline pumping through everyone.
You, however, had your eyes on two particular men on stage, your boyfriends Jisung and Felix. They looked ethereal in their outfits, sweat dripping down their faces as they moved around stage. You had a big smile on your face, bobbing your head along to the music. At one point, Felix was right in front of your section. As he interacted with the fans around you, he couldn’t help but stop and give you a wink. You giggled, no one the wiser of the secret you two held.
As the concert came to a close, you made your way to backstage, flashing your pass to the security guards. They waved you through and you made your way to the stage exit to await for the boys. You didn’t have to wait long as you could hear them before you saw them. They were clapping and laughing, ecstatic at another great show. They came into view, hair tussled and plastered to their faces from the sweat.
You made eye contact with Jisung, as you began bouncing on your feet. He came up to you and gave you a hug, pulling you flush against his body.
“Baby! We did it! Another successful show!” Jisung said.
You laughed as you hugged your boyfriend back. “It was an amazing show Sungie,” you said.
Looking up, you made eye contact with your other boyfriend, Felix, as he made his way toward both of you.
“That was insane! The crowd was beyond amazing.” Felix said, wrapping his arms around both you and Jisung.
You had to agree, being a part of the crowd yourself. Felix leaned over Jisung's shoulder to press a kiss against your lips at the same time Jisung squeezed your ass, cupping the flesh over your skirt. You chuckled at their enthusiasm, as you felt something hard within Jisung's pants press against your pelvis. It’s not unheard of for Jisung to come off stage, cock hard, seeking you out for help, Felix right behind him.
Jisung let out a little whine, before letting you go, just to grab your hand and intertwine your fingers with his. He turned the opposite way from the main dressing rooms, and began to walk, dragging you along with him. You turned your head to see Felix trailing behind you, a smile on his face.
You three approached a room, Jisung trying the door and finding it unlocked. He pulled you in, Felix right behind you, and kicked the door closed, before pushing you against it. He let out a whine before his lips crashed onto yours, a flurry of teeth clashing as he desperately rutted his hips into yours, seeking friction.
Jisung could feel Felix behind him, Felix's hands on his slim waist as he bucked his bulge into his ass. Jisung whimpered at the feeling, arching into Felix behind him who let out a whine. You watched your lovers as they locked lips, tongues fighting dominance with each other. The kiss was desperate and sloppy, spit dribbling from the side of Jisung's mouth.
Felix gently pushed Jisung out the way, slotting himself in front of you. He gave you a smile before crushing pressing a kiss on your lips again and again, as he let out soft moans. You wrapped your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. You let out a moan, allowing Felix to slip his tongue into your mouth, rolling the muscle around with yours.
Leaning back against the door, you gently pushed Felix in the chest, watching as he backed up, a pout on his face. You watched as Jisusng walked to the couch, quickly laying down on the cushions and looking over at you, his lips quivering.
"Need you mommy," he whimpered, his arms reaching out to you.
"Of course baby," you cooed as you walked over to Jisung.
He let out another whine, as you straddled his legs, working to unbuckle his belt. You quickly unzipped his pants before tugging them down his legs, and tossing them away.
You palmed his cock through his boxers, the appendage hard and leaking. Stoking his length, you listened as he let out a moan, a grin spreading on your face. You looked up in time to see Felix lean down and press his lips against Jisung’s once more, a strangled moan leaving his lips. Felix gripped Jisung’s head deepening the kiss, running his fingers through his hair. You loved the sight, your two boyfriends lost in each other.
You returned your attention to ridding Jisung of his boxers, sliding them down his legs, his leaky cock springing out and slapping up against his abdomen. You leaned down to lick a wet stripe up his cock before sucking the head into your warm mouth, tonguing his slit. You could hear Jisung mewl out into Felix, causing him in turn to let out a loud moan.
You bobbed your head, taking Jisung to the hilt, before coming back up with a pop, his hips chasing you, while a whimper left his lips at the feeling. You slowly stroked his cock, watching as Jisung leaned back, a pout on his face.
“Gimme, Lixie. Gimme your cock,” he whined, his hands reaching up to paw at Felix’s pants.
Felix let out a moan, as he quickly undid his pants, letting them drop to the floor. He stroked his cock a few times before shuffling forward, tapping the head on Jisung’s lips. Jisung let out a whine before opening his mouth, Felix sliding the tip of his cock into the warm space, letting out a guttural groan.
You watched as Jisung blew Felix, his candy lips wrapping around the length perfectly. Felix grabbed Jisung's head, as he thrusted his cock into his mouth, moans and whimpers falling from his mouth as he watched Jisung gag around his length. If anyone walked by the room, they would know exactly what was going on behind closed doors, but you three didn't care, lost in pleasure, lost in each other.
The thought made your smile before you wrapped your lips around Jisung’s cock once more, hollowing out your cheeks as you took more of him. You reached down to fondle his balls, causing his hips to jerk up into your mouth, his cock kissing the back of your throat. You looked up once more, your heart skipping a beat as Felix fucked Jisung’s face harder, his head thrown back in pleasure, as Jisung’s lips glided up and down his shaft, his boba eyes darting between Felix above him and you below. Felix thrusted his hips faster and faster, spit dripping down your other boyfriend’s chin as he took Felix to the hilt again and again.
Both boys were a mess, loud wails echoing throughout the room. You loved watching them fall apart, you thighs clenching together at the sight. Their moans increased in frequency, signaling they both were close. You blew Jisung in earnest, a squelching sound heard as you stroked Jisung's cock, helping to get him there. With a cacophony of loud groans and whines for all three of you, you watched Felix fall apart, his hips stilling as he pulled Jisung flush to his pelvis, as he unloaded his release into Jisung's throat. At the same time, Jisung unloaded his own load down your throat, the salty cum hitting the back of your throat. You swirled your tongue over his tip once more, collecting the last remnants of his cum, before sitting up.
You scooted up to hover over Jisung’s face, watching as Felix slipped his cock out of Jisung's mouth. You smiled at your boyfriend before leaning down and pressing your lips to Jisung's, pushing your tongue into his mouth to gather some of Felix’s cum. You sat back and beckoned to Felix. Felix, who was watching his lovers in front of him, had blown out pupils and lust in his eyes. You pulled him close, pressing your lips to his, his mouth opening instantly to deepen the kiss. You pushed both his and Jisung’s cum into his mouth, as he groaned at the taste of his and his lover’s arousal.
Pulling back, you looked Felix in the eye before saying, “swallow baby.”
You watched as Felix swallowed, you felt your pussy clench, more arousal dripping into your panties, further soaking the material. Jisung let out a whine behind you, murmuring, “so hot.”
You smiled at Felix before turning to face Jisung. He gave you a toothy grin before beckoning you toward him. You leaned over him watching as he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you to him. Jisung gave you a peck on the lips before maneuvering from under you and climbing on top, laying you down on the couch.
He flipped your skirt over your abdomen and spread your legs, gazing at the wet patch that soaked your panties. He licked his lips before looking at Felix, giving him a nod. You watched in anticipation as Felix walked over to you, kneeling at your side, and Jisung kneel so he was face to face with your sopping wet pussy.
Felix lifted your shirt, noticing you weren’t wearing a bra, his eyes widening at the observation. Jisung smirked before ducking his head, coming face to face with your core, letting out a whine and a little breath, causing you to shiver at the sensation.
“Come on boys, make mommy feel good,” you cooed, watching as Felix eagerly shook his head.
“Gonna make you feel so good mommy,” Felix said as he latched onto your nipple, moaning as he suckled the bud.
You sighed as you ran your fingers through Felix’s hair, looking down at your other lover between your legs. He was gazing at your core with longing in his boba eyes.
“Go ahead Sungie,” you said, grinning down at him.
His eyes were wide, looking at you for permission before he lowered his head, and sucked your panties into his mouth, dampening the material more. You mewled at the pleasure, Felix sucking and nipping at your breasts, Jisung face deep in your pussy, licking long stripes from your clothed entrance to your clit.
Jisung reached up to slide your panties down your legs, spreading your legs out wider so he has better access to your glistening core. You were lost in the ecstasy as both boys pleasured you, your moans matching theirs, becoming more high pitched as time went on.
Felix and Jisung were a whining mess as they pleasured you, their favorite thing to do. They wanted to make sure you felt good, knowing they may be rewarded later with being inside your warm wall.
You were close, the attention your boyfriends were giving you bringing you close to the edge, your toes curling at the inevitable.
“Mmm close babies,” you sighed out, “don’t stop, mommy’s close.”
Felix and Jisung moaned against you, the vibrations sending shivers down your spine as the feeling of your orgasm got closer and closer until you felt your release pour out, your slick coating Jisung’s face. He moaned as he licked up your arousal, making sure to catch every drop. Felix continued to press soft kisses to your nipples, as he heard you fall apart.
You took a deep breath, as you came down from your high, watching as both boys lifted their heads to smile at you.
“Did we do good mommy?” Felix asked, his eyes searching yours for approval.
“More than good, so proud of mommy's boys,” you cooed.
They grinned ear to ear, blushing at the praise. Felix leaned to press a kiss to your lips, Jisung following suit when you all heard a pounding at the door.
“If you guys are done, we’d like to leave now,” you heard Seungmin say, muttering as he walked away.
You all let out a chuckle, as you fixed each others clothes and hair, making sure you looked presentable enough to walk the halls to the car.
“Can we continue at the hotel mommy?” Jisung asked, hope in his boba eyes as he looked at you.
As you cradled his face in your hand, you said, “absolutely Sungie. Mommy has to reward her boys after all.”

More weirdo older bf Simon 🙏
this is from the alternate universe!simon where he’s still older bf!simon but a weird old perv 🫶🏼 (implied ghoap at the end)
it’s cold, cold enough that older bf!simon can see his breath.
he can also hear johnny’s teeth rattling, mostly cold but there’s a hint of-
“fuckin’ boring- shite end of the stick”
boredom.
hold up in fuck knows where in the freezing cold with a rifle laid across his thighs listening to johnny whinge his fucking ear off.
“course gaz didnae have t’do this- pretty boy never has t’freeze his bollocks off”
simon gets how shit this is, believe him.
it’s shit that he and johnny have to sit frozen (figuratively and literally) and just wait for the target to appear.
it’s been three days, the fucker isn’t showing.
but what’s worse (because simon argues he has the worse end of that shitty stick) is that he had to up and leave you.
got the call while you were in the shower, he’d barged through the door you could’ve sworn you’d locked and once he got you to stop screaming he’d had to break the news.
“m’off”
“oh, ok- for how long?”
“not sure, a bit”
only hint of a silver lining was the “good luck, be safe” reach around you gave him when he peeled his kit off and joined you in the water.
he really felt like he was beginning to make progress with you.
yes, you still were a little uneasy with his staring problem and yes, he still needed to learn to ask “please” and not just put your hand in his pants.
but you hadn’t left yet.
and to simon? shit, that’s as good as a hand in marriage.
he didn’t even have the pleasure of sitting in silence and missing you- not with that little bastard in his ear.
“can’ye check again, L.t?”
fuck sakes.
reluctantly, simon takes his phone out one of the pockets on his vest because, as much as johnny was doing his nut it-
he just had to know.
he chooses the app that brings up the livestream of cameras around your shared home. does his obligatory check of the outside perimeter, makes sure nobody is taking liberties.
then he begins the hunt.
you’ll be around here somewhere.
room by room, he looks for the shape of you.
“here pretty, pretty”
johnny’s eyes flicker from the horizon to the device in simon’s hands, almost buzzing in excitement.
“come out, come out”
might’ve been the trip down memory lane but it’s more than likely the anticipation, simon was chubbing up in his trousers.
“found you”
johnny all but leapt from his post until he was at simon’s side, eyes drawn to the way you moved around the living room.
as you moved into the view of the other camera, simon’s heart nearly stopped.
you were in his shirt.
“the sight a’that, L.t.”
you were a sight, that’s for sure. perching yourself in the corner of the couch, the two men watched as you scrolled your phone absentmindedly.
one leg outstretched, the other pulled up at the knee.
a rustle of leaves had both men snapping their attention back to their surroundings, keeping a keen ear and eye out before they hurried back to you.
pretty old you.
doing nothing more than reading an article or watching a tiktok or doing- anything.
but you might as well have been stroking yourself right there.
they could’ve claimed it was your bare legs, the way they could imagine you might’ve had no underwear, the curve of your chest under simon’s shirt-
it was no use.
they both knew exactly what it was.
they liked to stare.
liked watching you while you were none the wiser, that at any moment you could start touching yourself and have no idea you had an audience.
the thrill of the chase or whatever they called it.
“cannae believe you’ve got tha’ waiting at home”
“neither can i, mate”
simon watched you sink lower into the couch, silently praying you were reading one of those dirty little stories you liked.
probably weren’t, obedient thing probably saving it all up till he got home to wring it out of you.
he’d have to make do with imagination.
“here, ‘old this”
johnny grumbled but took the phone nonetheless. his eyes stayed fixed on you as he heard the sounds of simon’s belt, rustle of trousers, spitting on hands.
“if i have t’hold this ye’ave to help me oot”

Southern Charm (Rafe Cameron x Reader x Chase Andrews)
Tumblr media
Warnings: NON-CON, stalking, underage drinking, crossover
➥ you don’t have to be familiar with Where The Crawdads Sing to follow along with any characters in this fic. Just know that he’s a 1960s version of Rafe with a domestic violence + attempted rape charge

Tumblr media
summary: Privileged assholes always want what they can’t have. Or, alternatively, you turn down the wrong guys one too many times.
~
Chase Andrews was one of the proudest men you ever knew. He was also one of the most determined, so, in truth, you didn’t know why you expected anything less when you turned him down more than three months ago. You hadn’t given it much thought, to be honest. He was a simple guy asking out a simple girl, and the rejection shouldn’t have been any more complicated than that.
You’d forgotten that you were dealing with Chase Andrews.
If you hadn’t been so determined to get home before your mom threw a fit, you might’ve paid more attention to the way his face had fallen. You might’ve noticed the slight tightening of his jaw, the way he pulled his lip between his teeth, or the way he’d completely faltered altogether as if your refusal had been the last thing he’d expected. You might have even noticed the glint that passed through his eyes, signaling less than friendly thoughts as you tossed him a quick apologetic smile.
If you hadn’t been in such a hurry, you just might have noticed the way he stared after you, half in disbelief and half affronted.
You hadn’t though, and so you’d made your way home none the wiser to the dark thoughts brewing behind a familiar face. You’d greeted your mom with a quick hug before hurrying to your room. You plopped your purse down onto your bed without another thought spared towards Chase Andrews. After all, he was a simple guy who’d asked out a simple girl that only resulted in an equally simple rejection.
What had there been to linger on?
You hadn’t even brought it up to Kie, that’s how insignificant it had been to you. You told your best friend everything, and somehow, it really had slipped your mind that pretty rich boy Chase Andrews had asked you out on a date. It was only weeks later when you were forced to think on it some more did you realize that deep down, you’d written the whole thing off as some cruel dare.
It seemed like something right up his alley, pushed into it by equally troublesome friends.
You didn’t grow up along the rougher areas of the island, but that also didn’t mean you’d spent your time growing up around guys like that either. Guys like Chase grew up with everything and anything they could want, unfamiliar with the word ‘no’. You grew up fortunate, that you would always admit, but you hadn’t grown up like people like Chase. You hadn’t been raised to walk through life with the assumption that anything—and anyone—was yours if you wanted it.
So…maybe that was why you hadn’t anticipated any of it.
The sound of your name being called made you slow to a stop, and when you turned, the face matched the voice. Dark, almost black looking, hair and steel blue eyes contrasted against fair skin that looked like it barely saw the sun in spite of how much you always saw him out and about. Before you’d felt nothing at the sight of him, apprehension now gripped you instead.
Chase Andrews was a determined man.
“You heading home?”
It was a silly question.
He knew you were.
“Yeah,” you evenly told him.
He replied before you could give him some halfhearted reason as to why you needed to hurry away from him.
“Well, let me walk you…”
It was tempting, even if just for the sake of placating him. After all, maybe if you gave him a crumb, he’d be satisfied for the time being, but you wondered what kind of effect that deep southern drawl had on other women in town. You saw the way they flocked to him and hung off of his every word. There was something about that face that was disarming, you had to admit, but you didn’t make a habit of hanging around guys like Chase for a reason.
You were just about to refuse him, the umpteenth rejection within months, when it was his turn for his name to be called.
The familiar voice had contrasting reactions from you both, a slight frown between your brows while the dark-haired man sported a teasing grin when he turned around. You took the opportunity to take a step away from him, glad that he was too distracted by the sight of his cousin to notice. Dealing with one spoiled rich boy was one too many, never mind the presence of two.
Rafe Cameron was just as tall, just as pretty, just as rich but far more entitled than his dark-haired counterpart. He was an impulsive short fuse compared to Chase’s icy disposition. Where Rafe got into fights on the beach brought on by a coke fueled rage, Chase got drunk and harassed any unsuspecting less fortunate inhabitant who crossed his path. It had been years ago, but you could still remember the sound of his voice as he threatened to have some kid’s dad fired for simply bumping into him.
Rafe was proud to be an asshole while Chase liked to pretend that he wasn’t.
On their own, they were bad enough, but once together, you shuddered to think of what they could—and had—accomplish.
You only glanced over your shoulder once more as you quietly escaped what could’ve been another awkward encounter. Chase was already grinning at the dirty blond, an excited lilt in his voice as he talked about some party happening this weekend. In your efforts to make sure you were getting away unseen, your own gaze connected with a familiar blue one.
Rafe’s expression was even as he drank you in, nary an emotion flitting across it as he somehow both listened to the other man and kept his attention on you. A soft North Carolina breeze blew by, ruffling the few strands that grazed his forehead, and when his blue eyes lowered, straying from your own gaze and to parts of you you’d rather they didn’t, you finally turned back around.
Rafe Cameron, years ahead of his cousin, had asked you out once in high school. You’d been bolder then, less mature and lacking more than half the patience you carried now. You hadn’t just rejected him, but you’d told him in no uncertain terms that you didn’t like guys like him. You’d long suspected that he never really got over that, and you didn’t need to look over your shoulder again to confirm that he was still looking at you.
You could feel the heat of his gaze pressing down onto your back.
Tumblr media
“Just give me five more minutes and then I’ll be ready,” Kie promised you, briefly touching your arm before hurrying into the back of her family’s restaurant.
The place was pretty packed today which made her parents’ decision to let her take off all the more surprising. Sarah Cameron was in the corner somewhere with her boyfriend Topper, the blonde throwing you a friendly smile when you came in. She was a lot closer to Kie than she was to you, and in truth, that was more so your doing than hers.
Rafe just wasn’t someone you wanted to interact with if you could help it, and considering that he and Chase were joined at the hip more like brothers than cousins, the desire to steer clear was doubly so.
You had just pulled out your phone to check your messages when a shadow passed over you. You didn’t pay it much mind, but the feel of their body heat mingling with yours clued you in on the fact that whoever they were, they were too close for comfort. You were both surprised and resigned when you heard a familiar voice.
“Picking up for Cameron.”
You tensed at the sound of that smooth voice, shrinking in on yourself as you continued to look ahead. Rafe knew that you knew he was there, and you could feel his eyes on you as you stared in front of you, waiting for Kie to return. You heard the blond next to you let out a small sigh, and you only glanced at him when he dared to move closer.
“You know,” he slowly and softly began, leaning in just a tad. “…you’re kind of hurting my cousin’s feelings.”
That was the last thing you’d expected to come out of his mouth, and you looked at him with a deep frown. There was a small smirk dancing on Rafe’s lips, the corner of his mouth quirked up just a tad, but there was an earnestness in his eyes that hinted at some truth in his words.
“Is that so,” you murmured, looking away. “I doubt that.”
You heard Rafe chuckle, but it was bitter, dry and lacking humor.
“He really hasn’t been anything but nice to you…and you treat him like garbage.”
Rafe’s voice had lowered some, an edge to it that forced you to look at him again. His expression wasn’t so mirthful, a smile or anything close to it nowhere in sight. Despite the volume in the restaurant, you felt like you and Rafe were the only ones in the place, and you swallowed.
“…and how do I do that? By politely turning him down?”
You kept going before he could intervene.
“How else should I do it? Or…would you be happier if I just didn’t turn him down, at all?”
You watched Rafe’s jaw tick as he ran his eyes over you, an iciness creeping into them that made you shudder. He stared at you just like that for what felt like a long time before finally speaking again.
“What’s your problem, Y/N?” he slowly wondered. “You think you’re too good for him or something?”
Such a thought was a great sin to guys like Rafe.
They had money and looks and influence, and so, that put them at a place where no one was off limits. The mere thought that you might think you were too good for his cousin Chase had his eyes flashing…because it wasn’t just about the dark-haired man. If you thought you were too good for Chase, then you thought you were too good for Rafe, and with just one look into a familiar blue gaze, you could tell that Rafe was transported back to senior year when you told him quite plainly what you thought of him.
“I don’t like guys like Chase,” you evenly told him.
You paid no mind to the way his expression hardened as he looked away. Rafe sniffed, pulling his lip between his teeth before meeting your gaze again, his own challenging.
“…and what is Chase like? What are guys like that…like…?”
Rafe was almost daring you to say it, to insult him and his family, and foolishly, you were glad to.
“Spoiled, entitled…guys who lose their temper when they don’t get their way,” you told him, holding his gaze despite how uncomfortable you felt. “You know.”
You pushed yourself to your feet just as Kie returned. She was in the middle of apologizing for the holdup when she cut herself off, coming up short at the sight of Rafe beside you. You were already walking away and urging her to follow before she could even acknowledge him.
“Was he bothering you?” she sternly asked the second you both made it outside.
“No,” you lied with a sigh. “Just Rafe being…Rafe.”
“Good,” she said with relief. “He’s been hanging around here a lot more, and as long as he isn’t causing trouble, who am I to tell him where he can and can’t go, but if he was bothering you, I’ll get my dad to ban him, I swear.”
A laugh was caught in your throat when her words registered. You frowned a bit as you followed her to her jeep, confusion filling you as you hopped inside.
“He has?”
“Yeah, him and Chase,” she groaned, starting the vehicle. “Neither of them gave that much of a fuck about my parents’ place before…”
You clicked your seatbelt with a frown, looking out of the window.
You told yourself that it was just a coincidence. The thought was laughable because when it came to guys like Chase and Rafe…there were no coincidences. You really hadn’t taken Chase seriously when he’d asked you out all those months ago, and the sentiment had held anytime he tried to approach you after. It was exhausting to keep turning him down, politely at that, and to ignore your increasing discomfort.
Chase had a way of crowding you, making you feel so small and at his mercy. The kindness in those blue eyes of his was never genuine, and you never had been fooled by that smooth baritone of his. He always had a look on his face like he was in on some joke you’d just never get, and to make it worse, he made you feel like you were the butt of it.
Truthfully, you didn’t know what Chase wanted with a girl like you, anyway.
You weren’t the partying type, so you’d definitely be no fun for him, and you’d never been eager to stroke his ego and tell him that he was even prettier than he believed. You came from money, sure, but not the kind that would make his mom satisfied. The woman had been convinced that some poor harlot was going to trap her son and swindle him for everything he had since he was a kid.
You really didn’t get what he wanted with you.
Both him and Rafe, to be honest.
Both were about as deep as a kiddie pool, but Rafe had always had a type, and you certainly weren’t it. You saw the kind of girls he hit on at parties, the kind of girls he walked around with, the kind of girls he slipped some free coke to. Rafe was nothing if not consistent in that regard, which made that moment in high school all the more confusing.
What made it even more confusing was that Rafe was obviously still hung up on it years later.
Unlike Chase, however, one hit to his ego was one too many.
“Chase…what are you doing here?”
It was hours later when you found yourself standing on your steps. No one had been more surprised than you when your mom announced that Chase was here to see you. Your dad’s pinched face was burned into your memory as your mom forced him to mind his business.
The dark-haired man before you let out a chuckle, but it sounded…off. It didn’t sound like a laugh born from amusement, but one bred from confusion instead.
“I’m wondering the same thing,” he told you, although his smile didn’t reach his eyes. “You must have rejected me about…seven times by now.”
He laughed to himself again, his white button down pulling as he leaned against the porch post.
“I guess I just want to know why.”
His expression was polite, but his eyes told a different story, and you didn’t need to study the blue of them to know that he’d talked to Rafe. You forced yourself to take a deep breath, crossing your arms over your chest as you briefly glanced away. You could feel his unwavering gaze, both studying you just for the hell of it and because he wanted to know what you were thinking.
“I’m sure Rafe told you why,” was your remark.
When you looked at the dark-haired man, his own jaw had tensed some, face taut, and he nodded with a glance towards his feet.
“Look…I’m not the kind of guy you think I am,” he finally said, perfect teeth winking at you as he grinned, like the thought was laughable to him. “I just…”
He exhaled.
“We’ve both grown up here, and went to school together, and I don’t see the point in pretending like I don’t notice you,” he drawled. “I like you…and I’d like to take you out.”
Truthfully, you couldn’t tell how genuine Chase was, but your familiarity with him had your response on the tip of your tongue before he could even finish.
“Guys like you don’t like girls like me, Chase,” you’d started, turning to go back inside. “At least not for anything more than one fun night.”
When your eyes met his from the other side of the screen, they didn’t look so warm, now. The blue of them seemed darker, although you preferred to write that off to a trick of the light. He looked like he wanted to say more, but you continued just as he opened those pink lips of his.
“Go home, Chase.”
You didn’t wait to hear any kind of response.
Tumblr media
You really hadn’t anticipated any of it.
Chasing you down on the sidewalk or approaching you in the street was one thing, but Chase showing up on your doorstep one evening had spooked you, and it was why you’d had no qualms about being straight with him and telling him to just go home. His determination to have you, despite your visible discomfort at the thought, had made it hard to sleep that night, but you’d hoped that your point had gotten across.
…and while Chase hadn’t made a move on you again, you still found no relief.
He and Rafe hung out at The Wreck more often than they ever had, and while they kept their distance, the feel of an oppressive gaze was hard to ignore. You told yourself that you just imagined the sound of a familiar truck driving by your house in the dead of night. It was a small town, and just like before, you’d run into a familiar face often. That was nothing new…
Chase Andrews wasn’t trying to wear you down for a date anymore, but you still felt no peace.
“Why didn’t you say something earlier?” Kie wondered one day, voice heavy with concern. “…and here I thought that they’d developed a taste for my mom’s cooking.”
“I thought he was joking at first,” you confessed. “…and then he just kept asking…”
You felt almost embarrassed to admit how wrong you’d been. After all, you were way too old for childish dares, and when Chase Andrews wanted something, he got it. He was a lot like Rafe in that way, something you’d always known, and yet…you hadn’t anticipated any of it.
From either of them.
“Just stay over at my place,” Sarah Cameron had offered one night.
It was a party that you’d been the one to drag Kie to, but your inebriation was something that took both of you by surprise. You’d felt too bad to stay and didn’t want to cut Kie’s night short too. The blonde girl had been concerned when she convinced you to let her drive you back to her place.
“I know how your mom can be sometimes.”
Almost everyone did, and you’d thanked her.
You’d been grateful.
Sarah residing in the same house as Rafe hadn’t been a concern of yours. Nor the fact that he might not be alone. You’d only been concerned with drinking lots of water and laying down to keep your head from spinning. When you woke up in the middle of the night, you were a lot more sober, and the trek to the bathroom wasn’t one filled with stumbling.
Your shower made you a lot more alert.
…and you were wide awake when you almost bumped into Rafe Cameron. He didn’t look as shocked to see you in his house like you’d expect, only mildly surprised. You did flinch at the sight of him, and you didn’t miss the way his blue eyes ran over the length of you, lingering on your legs and the shirt that kissed your knees.
He didn’t say anything like you expected, and you only forced out a small apology before hurrying back to the guest room.
It had never occurred to you to lock it.
Rafe was annoying and insufferable and an asshole. The oldest Cameron was a lot of things, but there were even some things you’d put past him. So, waking up in the early morning before day by the sound of the guest room door opening was something you hadn’t predicted. The oldest Cameron chewing you out, with blown pupils you might add, was something you hadn’t predicted.
“Do you know how much shit I could’ve put you through?”
You glared at him, but inside, you were shaking. The blond had taken it upon himself to air out his grievances with you, and you were wholly aware of just how unstable he was when he had any drug in him.
“You walk around this island like you’re too good for me,” he murmured, reaching up to touch his chest. “Like I’m just the scum you find on the bottom of your shoe…and instead of being grateful I didn’t make your life a living hell…”
He threw his arms out.
“You turn your nose up at me…like you’re so much better than me.”
You swallowed, torn between wanting to placate him and get him out or treating him like the asshole he was.
“Rafe, you’re high and…”
“…and what?” he leaned in, tilting his head at you. “What?”
Your breathing was uneven, and you wrapped your arms around yourself, taking a step back from him. The blond followed, and you worriedly looked towards the door.
“You think Sarah’s gonna save you? You think I care if she sees what I’m going to do to you?”
His words had you frowning, and your gaze was stricken when you looked at him again.
“That’s not funny, Rafe,” you breathed.
He chuckled to himself, running his hand through already unruly hair.
“…and what makes you think I’m joking…?”
The silence between you was loud, thick, and you furiously blinked.
“You walk around this damn island like I can’t have you…when truth is, I was just being nice,” he sneered. “…because it’s actually so easy for me to do this.”
His hand completely enveloped your chin, fingers harshly pressing into your jaw as he pushed you back. The action made you stumble, and your heart skipped a beat when you landed on the bed behind you. Rafe chuckled to himself at the sight, like he genuinely found it funny, and any possibility that he was being cruel in his humor was gone when he grabbed the ankles that kicked out at him.
“Rafe, stop,” you gasped, pushing at his chest and trying to back away.
He did pause in his movements, but he kept hold of you, head tilted to the side as he studied you.
“…and why would I do that…? I don’t want to,” he slowly told you.
Movement behind him caught your eye, and relief filled you at the sight of a familiar face. It was strange that in all these months, you never thought your eyes would land on Chase Andrews in relief. Rafe, clearly having noticed your line of sight, glanced over his shoulder.
“What?” he distractedly wondered, looking at you again. “You think he’s going to save you?”
His tone was cold, and his words had your relief quickly dying out. Rafe chuckled at the sight of your falling face, heart sinking as the worst finally occurred to you.
“You think he’s not going to watch and get off on the fact that the girl he’s wanted for months is getting what she deserves?”
Rafe’s grip was firm as he pulled at your shirt, the fabric tearing in the otherwise quiet room. You fought against his hands through teary eyes, but it was like they meant nothing at all to Rafe.
“You don’t think he’s just waiting for his turn?”
Your hand connected with Rafe’s face then, but it didn’t deter him.
In that moment, it seemed like all of Rafe’s pent-up anger towards you was finally coming out. His teeth grazed your skin as he held you down, his other hand digging into your hip. Rafe seemed to take delight in your fight, your fear, and when you turned your head, your eyes connected with a blue pair that was much darker than the ones before you.
Chase didn’t look gleeful at the sight of Rafe forcing himself on you. He just looked…satisfied, and you realized then that the blond was right. Chase was scorned, he felt slighted, and you knew that he really did believe that you deserved this.
When Rafe pushed himself into you, your head pressed into the bed as you gasped in shock. His dirty blond strands were kissing your forehead as he leaned over you, pushing his cock into you almost lovingly. One hand was so tight on your wrist that it was a wonder it didn’t break, and despite how much you fought it, how much you didn’t want to give either of them the satisfaction, you weren’t able to hold in a sob.
“What’s that my mama used to always say…” Chase wondered, finally speaking. “Stop crying before I give you something to cry about?”
He was moving towards you both, and through a tearful gaze, your pleading eyes connected with his own emotionless ones. He ran them over you, taking in your naked frame and the abuse that Rafe subjected it to. In truth, Chase didn’t even look like he was enjoying himself, his hands in his pockets as he looked down his nose at the scene.
“Chase,” you tearfully begged him, trying to push Rafe off with your free hand.
“No,” he drawled, moving closer. “You don’t like guys like me, remember? So, don’t go begging for my help, now.”
When he leaned over from behind you, one hand taking yours before he did the same with the other, more tears fell. His grip was tight on your arms as he held you in place for Rafe, the blond using the opportunity to run his hands over you. His mouth left open mouth kisses to your neck and chess, and you blinked for half a second before Chase’s lips met yours.
The kiss was oddly gentle, so out of place, and a sob caught in your chest.
“That was all I ever wanted,” he murmured. “It didn’t have to be like this.”
Rafe’s cock stretched you out in a way that had you whimpering. From pain or something else, you didn’t know the answer, and you were too embarrassed to linger on it. When he lightly bit your chest, you arched into his mouth, and his hips curved into yours.
“I thought you were too good for me, Y/N,” Rafe mocked into your skin. “The way you’re gripping me says differently.”
You squeezed your eyes shut at that, and Chase chuckled.
His own teeth found your neck, and you tried to move your hands again only to hiss when he tightened his grip. The room was mostly quiet outside of your heavy breathing and the occasional moan that would escape against your will. Chase had your arms and Rafe had your legs, holding your thighs apart for him to drive himself into you without abandon.
When Chase did finally let you go, you felt no relief.
You could hear him getting undressed, and when Rafe finally came inside of you, emptying his cock and forcing you to milk him, he looked up at the other man with a chuckle. You were free for all of six seconds before Chase grabbed you and roughly threw you onto your stomach. His hand at the root of your hair forced your head down against the mattress, and if you’d doubted his motives before, they were all too clear when he finally spoke again.
“I was polite…wasn’t I?”
His lips were at your ear, but a whisper as he seemed to want something from you other than sex tonight.
“I asked you out nicely, made sure you got home safe…didn’t I?”
You reached back, pressing your nails into his skin as your tears soaked the sheets.
“Didn’t I?” he wondered again when you didn’t answer.
“Yes,” you sobbed.
You heard him take a deep breath, and his free hand curved into your hip. When he pulled you back onto his cock, you let out a whine, eyes squeezing shut at the feel of him fitting snuggly inside of you.
“…and this is how you treat me?” he wondered out loud, hips snapping against yours.
His thrusts weren’t as gentle as Rafe’s, and you gasped with each one. Rafe’s anger at your rejection was a lot calmer. It was something that had been brewing and festering for years. He’d had time to come to terms with it and just live with it, you supposed. Chase, on the other hand…
The dark-haired man had been after you for months, putting his pride and ego aside to make his intentions clear over and over again. His anger was new…fresh, and he hadn’t quite had the time to process it like Rafe had. All Chase wanted to do was take out this new anger on you.
…and that he did.
Your nails clawed at the sheets as he pushed into you, the sound of his cock thrusting into you so embarrassingly loud in the room. His grip was tight in your hair, so bad that you swore you felt a few strands pop. He was talking to you—or Rafe—but you couldn’t make it out. You were too focused on the pain in your scalp and the fire deep in the pit of your stomach.
“You think you’re better than me? Hmm?” he spat, the hand on your hip pushing your lower half down onto the bed. “You think you can just treat me like any of these second-rate assholes?”
It was clear that he wanted an answer.
“Huh?”
“No,” you sobbed, trying to push back against him to no avail.
“Is that supposed to make me feel better? You don’t sound sorry worth a damn,” he harshly whispered, the bed shaking from the force of his thrusts.
“She’s not,” you heard Rafe add, and you trembled.
“I am,” you sobbed, finally cracking. “I’m sorry.”
You sniffed, trying in vain to get Chase to loosen his hold.
“I’m sorry,” you tearfully told them again, toes curling at the feel of his cock plunging into you and sliding against your walls.
“Nah,” you heard Chase drawl, leaning down to press his face into your hair. “You’re not sorry…but I can promise you this.”
He forced you to turn your head, and his soft lips gently brushed the corner of yours.
“You will be.”

Dead on MAYn Day 1 - still untitled.
Prompts used: Dinner interrupted by a rogue/gang fight, courting rituals.
This thing keeps growing so I figured I should just post the first part. It will be continued eventually it’s kinda going places I didn’t expect. I am also using the flickering prompt, but it doesn’t appear in this first part.
Danny dug into his burger with gusto. It was not Nasty Burger, but it was greasy and cheesy and juicy and definitely hit the spot after a whole day walking about Gotham taking in the supernatural sights.
Sam was entirely less impressed with the vegetarian option and had set it down with a grimace and was now just picking at her fries. Tucker had taken it as a personal win for the Meat Team™ and was lording it over her with his eyebrows - thankfully he was too busy eating to actually say anything, which Danny was very glad of. You could only hear the same arguments so many times. At least age and maturity had assured they didn’t end their friendship over it.
“So,” Sam said, “What’s next after this?”

Danny finished chewing his mouthful, before speaking. “I’m not sure, I figured just go back to the hotel for a bit, chill until nightfall? Gotham’s court won’t be in session until then.”
“Seconded. My feet hurt,” Tucker chimed in.

“Maybe if you didn’t spend all your day sitting in front of a screen all day-”

And they were at it again… Danny tuned them out with the practice of years of being on the sideline, humming in agreement when prompted. He loved his friends dearly, but arguing was a part of their love language that he didn’t feel like participating in.
He let his eyes wander around the small diner, and found himself frowning as a group of men hurried inside.
If Danny had been less used to his ghost sense warning him of trouble, maybe he would have reacted in time - or at all. As it was he found himself frozen in shock when he saw the guns - regular human guns, not ecto-guns, ecto-guns he knew how to react to.
It was strange to realize that nobody had ever pointed a normal gun at him before and someone was pointing a gun at him right now - of course it would be in Gotham he got that experience.
“Hey you, stand up slowly and get over here. Hands where I can see them.”
Oh.
Danny’s brain suddenly caught up to the events.
A group of five armed men had entered the diner waving guns. Three kept their eyes on the door and windows as if they expected someone to follow them. One was moving behind the counter towards the back, maybe looking for the waitress who had skedaddled as soon as the armed men entered and the last one had his gun trained on Danny, who of all people in the diner he’d figured was the best option for a hostage.

Danny resisted the urge to laugh.
Slowly he did as bidden, raising his hands and standing up.
On the surface he wasn’t an unreasonable choice. He was short and lean, if he was completely honest he looked like a stiff wind could blow him over. Sam in contrast looked like trouble and Tucker had grown up annoyingly tall, and if Gotham police was like most places it was probably wiser to pick a white boy as hostage anyways. The rest of the people in the diner were two heavy set construction workers and a lady with arms broader than Danny’s thighs, like damn.

So yeah, Danny was apparently the best choice.

Regretfully, he left his dinner to cool on its plate as he took carefully measured steps towards the… what? Mobster? Gang person?

A part of him was wondering how much a gunshot could hurt him. Would it hurt him? In human form probably, as long as he was tangible. Would it kill him the rest of the way? He wasn’t particularly keen to find out.
His eyes flickered to the other armed men when one of them hissed at the guy at the door. “Do you see him?”

Danny considered doing something for about three steps, but he wasn’t experienced enough with real guns and fighting humans that he thought he could risk it. He’d also prefer to fly under the radar while he was here. He was on vacation, not here to mess with anyone.
There was a familiar feeling in his throat, wanting to be let go. His head snapped towards the kitchen. What! That couldn’t be right?

The man grabbed him and put the gun to his head just as a crash sounded from the kitchen and the wisp of cold breath escaped his mouth. Everyone turned towards the noise. The man who held him tightened his hold and pushed the gun so hard against his head he had to tilt it.

Something black came flying out the door and the jumpy gunmen shot at it, but with their attention on the object (a pan, it was just a pan) they didn’t notice the man who followed behind. He was fast, not much more than a red brown blur, shooting the furthest man in the arm so he dropped the gun and then coming in close, punching the first man and kicked the next in the belly. He moved so smoothly, effortlessly.

Danny forgot to breathe. Because that there was the source of his ghost sense. Because that there was also a human.
Another halfa.

Here in Gotham of all places!

His heart gave a hard thump in his chest and he gasped, remembered breathing was a thing he sorta needed as a human. He still couldn’t take his eyes off the other halfa. Now there was someone who knew how to fight. His core hummed pleasurably in his chest. The other halfa had taken care of those goons in less than ten seconds. The fourth one was probably dealt with in the kitchen. And the fifth-

Danny was abruptly reminded of how the fifth had a gun to his head, as he annoyingly poked him with that barrel and pulled him backwards towards the door.
“Not another step or he gets it!”
Danny grimaced. He finds another halfa and he’s a fucking hostage? Stellar first impression, right there! Someone please shoot him- or wait, considering the situation that was probably not the wisest turn of phrase.

“How about you let the civilian go, and I won’t break your kneecaps.” The voice was menacing though clearly modulated and there was a delightful, almost cheerful undertone.
Now that he was standing still, Danny could better appreciate him. He was a big man, probably near a head taller than Danny and so much wider. Death had clearly not stopped him from putting on muscle. Normally Danny might have been jealous, but honestly he was too busy appreciating the other halfa.

He was wearing a red helmet, faceless except for a pair of glaring eyes and he had a large bat symbol across his chest. This last bit should put Danny off. There were very good reasons Danny didn’t want to catch any attention here. He couldn’t think of them right now. But there were… reasons… yes… and thighs walking towards him-

“I swear I will shoot!”

Oh for fuck’s sake! There were too many people involved. Danny promptly stepped down on his captor’s instep, ducked and twisted out of his hold.

Red Hood, because that was his name, Danny suddenly remembered, promptly shot the gun out of the man’s hold and took him down with a punch and a crunching kick to the right knee.

Shit, Danny was jealous, not of the broken kneecap of course, but he also wanted to throw down. He could show the other halfa what he could do, make friends, or more? Would it be too forward to gift him one of his moon rocks?

It probably was too forward? This was the first halfa he met who wasn’t a fruit loop or related to him. At least he hoped he wasn’t a fruit loop.
“Are you alright?”
Danny shook himself out of his thoughts to find that he’d been approached.
Now that he was up close Danny could really appreciate how those arms looked strong enough to bend him in half and- Danny’s gaze stopped at his waist. Was he actually wearing a leather corset? It did great things for his-
“That was either brave or stupid.”
The words had Danny’s eyes snapping back up to the glaring helmet. Danny was frozen. How was he supposed to talk to him? His mind reeled. Do something! Anything!
“How’s this for stupid?” Danny blurted and promptly punched him in the gut with a good deal of ghostly strength. Red Hood bent over with a pained oof.
Fuck! Danny’s brain screamed at him in despair. He could not believe he’d done that! Glancing around he couldn’t find Sam or Tucker so he quickly ran out the diner.

He was grabbing for his phone in his pocket while running, when he was pulled into an alley. He was so wound up he nearly threw another punch, but then he realized it was just Sam and Tucker.
He breathed a sigh of relief.
“Danny!” They spoke in eerie unison. Tucker snorted, but Sam continued, “Are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost!”

Danny shook his head, realizing he must look a little dazed. He felt a little dazed. He didn’t even feel like taking the obvious bait.
“I punched Red Hood,” he admitted.
“What!” There they went again I unison, almost as if they practiced it.
“Do you think he’d like a moon rock?”
The looks they sent him then, they were indescribable. Absently he padded his shoulder to make sure he hadn’t grown a second head.
“Are you sick, Danny? Was there something in the food?” Sam put her hand on his forehead checking his temperature, even as she looked at Tucker, “What are the chances there’d be blood blossoms in a random burger?”

“Extremely unlikely, more likely something new, never seen Danny react like this.”
Danny grumpily pushed Sam’s hand away. “The food was fine. I’m fine.”

They gave him twin dubious looks.
“Look, let’s just go back to the hotel room. I just need a little rest and I’ll be fine.”

-
Jason gasped in pain to the sound of laughter in his comms. What the Hell was in that guy’s food that he could throw such a punch?
“What did he did the little guy do, Hood? Kick you in the jewels?” Dick managed to ask through laughter.
They didn’t have visuals, small mercies, but Oracle the traitor had let on to the former hostage’s scrappy stature in the run down of the situation.
“He did not.” Jason growled and turned off the comms, done listening to those idiots. Shit, fuck. Definitely a meta, that had been super strength. Keeping one hand over his pained abdomen he walked over to kick the goon who had decided to crawl for his gun in Red Hood’s apparent distraction.
“Don’t even think about it, I am not in the mood for it,” he growled and the goon whimpered.
When he finished securing the goons, of course the meta was long gone. Jason sighed in annoyance. Just his luck.

American Venom from Micahs point of view is so interesting to think about.
A few hours ago, your old gang leader showed up. He has some tale of money, a plan, or something, could be good money in it - you can just kill him if their aint. You're bigger and better than he ever was now.
As you're discussing your plans one of your boys runs in - hes tired and frazzled. Says the Gunman at the bottom of the mountains been killed - you look to Dutch who is none the wiser.
Then you hear who it is. A Native American, a woman, and a man. You look to Dutch, then to Joe.
No - it can't be right?
You send your men down to deal with it but the sound of shooting doesn't seem to stop - actually it's getting louder.
Joe takes his two best gunman and heads down. You've known Joe a long time - if anyone can deal with this, he can.
You go back to the planning and then the shooting starts up again - Joe will be killing those three by now, probably taking his time with it and -
And theres a voice. An old one. Carried on the wind.
"It's John Marston Micah!"
And you know he's coming for you.

For Valentines Day could I request hc for how halsin and Astarion would react to their shared lover surprising them with new lingerie?
Of course you can, anon, and I thank you for such a racy prompt
Astarion x Halsin x Reader (M/M/F)
NSFW, MDNI below cut
Three's Company, and I'm Afraid I'm Underdressed
(How Astarion and Halsin Would React to You in Lingerie)
You were a certified genius. That was all you could think after you stepped out of Facemaker’s Boutique in Baldur’s Gate with your coin purse considerably lighter. None had been the wiser when you began stuffing a lacy corset into your travel pack. Weeks of trekking through the swamps and the Underdark had left you grimy and less than seductive when it came to romancing Halsin and Astarion.
Halsin… my good man, no my good boy… The druid was a simple man who loved nature and especially the dirt that came with it. He found the dust from the roads that clung to your skin and your clothes to be the most beautiful thing in the world. The smile that slowly pulled at the edges of your mouth when you thought of how sweet Halsin was could never be helped. He was a natural smooth talker, speaking almost as if he was telling you nothing but truths and common sense when he complimented you or Astarion.
You could feel your mirrored appreciation through your connection with the vampire. Astarion originally would downplay how much he approved of Halsin’s bold declarations before the druid’s chivalry filed down the barbed-wire ensnaring the vampire’s bittered, blackened heart. And almost as if determined to clear out the shadows of Astarion’s heart just as he intended with the Shadowfell, he broke down walls that had been fortified for centuries.
Astarion had a voice like honey himself and all of the flare to go with it. His playful flirting always danced along the edge of actual seduction, and it always kept you on your toes. Halsin hadn’t always been too keen on joking, especially the dark humor that the vampire had perfected, but as the snarky facade began to crack and glimmers of a broken man could be seen peering through, Halsin was finally beginning to see what you did in Astarion.
The grand display of their love flourishing had your heart swelling happily in your chest. These two men had nothing but time ahead of them and it thrilled you to know that when you withered away with age decades from now, the two would offer each other support. But until that moment came, and while you could still claim to possess an ass that won’t quit, you would show your lovers the perks of having you involved in their love affair.
It was the perfect night. The stars were shining bright, the air was calm, and the aftertaste of victory was still sweet on your tongue. The party had dispersed almost immediately following the battle of the Netherbrain, and while initially it left you feeling hollow, the privacy sure proved useful for moments such as what you had planned. As you approached Astarion and Halsin, who were both lounging back against a log and chatting by the fire, your hands were wringing the drawstring of your robe.
They both looked up at the same time and you chuckled at how cute they were. Of course Halsin’s connection to nature helped him in sensing the change of your presence just as quick as Astarion’s enhanced hearing. The vampire arched a brow while the druid cocked his head when he noticed your robe-clad body. Your chest expanded as you took a deep breath, and you held it as you dropped the cloth from your shoulders and down your arms to pool at your feet.
The lingerie hugged your body like a second skin and the lacy fabric left no room for imagination as it practically left you bare before your lovers. Astarion’s eyes widened while slowly looking you up and down. When they returned to meet yours, his confident smirk was back in place as he attempted to convey with his eyes alone just how hungry he had become. He was a man of fashion, darling, and he greatly treasured when you put in the same effort as he did. As he shifted his upper body in your direction with his gaze piercing straight into your soul, his elbow propped up on the log as his pointer finger pressed against his temple, his thumb supported his chin, and his remaining fingers were semi-curled and resting over his lips. The tadpole’s connection between you two had vanished the moment the Netherbrain fell, but you’d swear you could practically feel his arousal as if it were your own.
Halsin drank in the sight of your semi-naked body as if it were a cold drink of water on the hottest day of the year. Initially, you were unsure if the Druid would be as affected as you’d like. He had let you know early on that he found you most alluring when you had nothing obscuring his vision…. But his entranced smile as he fully sat up to look at you around Astarion was a promise enough of what would be to come (or who). You were trapped beneath the weight of both of these men’s heavy gazes.
“Don’t you look positively delectable,” Astarion drawled almost predatorily as he motioned with his other hand for you to come closer, “I could eat you right up… And I think I just might,”
“Only if you save some for me,” Halsin chimed in, and you could see his muscles twitching with the urge to pounce, but he remained in his spot beside Astarion, but on edge with anticipation.
Certified genius.
It was a brief thought that was gone as quick as it came once you reached Astarion and he lifted both his hands to grab ahold of yours and guide you down onto his lap. You gasped and couldn’t stop yourself from grinding down when you rubbed against his semi-hard dick. It felt like electricity shot down your spine as heat pooled in the pit of your stomach when you felt his hips pump up to meet you. You both groaned in unison, and while you could have easily allowed your eyes to roll back and just relish in the growing wetness between your thighs, there was another hand that began rubbing circles between your shoulders.
Halsin’s breathing had quickened and he was leaning in closer than when you last glanced in his direction. His lips were parted as he shakily exhaled, his hands continuing to massage circles into not only your skin, but he was running his fingertips up and down Astarion’s back as well. You didn’t even think, it was instinct to lean forward and capture the druid’s lips in a kiss. It wasn’t long before his tongue was licking across your bottom lip, wordlessly asking for entrance. He was a dominating lover, and it was evident in the way his tongue fought for control.
Hands that were previously gripping your waist were now running teasingly up your sides. You felt goosebumps flaring beneath the fabric of the lingerie. Astarion’s hips continued a calm, steady thrusting as his hands explored up your sides, across your hips, and gathered handfuls of your rear. Your flesh was ablaze with each touch. As the vampire’s erection grew harder against your clothed center, you felt the moan bubble in your throat before it interrupted your kiss with Halsin. The druid’s lips kissed down your cheek to a spot right below your ear. You felt Halsin’s hand meet Astarion’s on your back before the weight of his touch disappeared and you knew his hand was running up Astarion’s arm that was wound around your body.
Halsin pulled back and looked over at Astarion, whose gaze shifted to the druid in return. It was a challenging arch of the brow that spurred Halsin forward in claiming the vampire’s lips in a searing kiss. Astarion’s head was tilted back with one of Halsin’s hands supporting the back of his head as their tongues explored the other’s mouth. You shivered in arousal, practically feeling your nipples fighting against the restraint of the lingerie before you ran your hands over Astarion’s chest. You leaned forward and started placing open-mouthed kisses along Halsin’s broad shoulder and down his chest. You growled at the clothing between your hands, mouth, and their bodies. You pulled back, and they both broke the kiss to look at you.
“Clothes, off, now,”
“How expensive was-”
Before Astarion could even finish his question, Halsin was tearing the lacy cloth from your body to get to the prize underneath. You weren’t even surprised. Astarion merely shrugged before pulling his shirt off, and Halsin stood as he fully undressed himself. The moment his underwear was pulled down his legs and his cock sprung to life just a foot away from your face, you could’ve sworn you started salivating. Astarion must have had the same thought because he was staring wide-eyed at his dick and licked his lips before glancing up at his face.
An idea sparked in your mind and you looked up at Halsin before turning back to Astarion. You placed your hands over his bare chest, your fingers splaying out and your pinky finger grazed over his nipple. The vampire inhaled sharply, neck snapping back to face you. You pull him into an open-mouthed kiss that lasted a moment before pulling back and looking him straight in the eye.
“Suck Halsin’s dick,” You command, and Astarion’s shock flashed over his face a moment before his mouth twisted into a devilish grin.
“It would be my pleasure,” he cooed before he gently grabbed the back of Halsin’s thigh and pulled him close enough to flatten his tongue against the tip of his cock, flicking it before licking a swirl around the head.
Halsin sucked in a breath between his teeth at the sudden wet heat. You were throbbing between your legs at the sight, and you could feel a renewed wetness slicking your lower lips. Your eyes never cut away even as your hands worked at Astarion’s belt. It was a familiar movement that was reflex now, and it wasn’t long before the vampire’s dick was in your hand, pumping it to full length. Astarion moaned around Halsin’s dick and as a result, the druid released his own groan. You continued to stroke Astarion with one hand, and your other lifted to Halsin’s hip bone next to Astarion’s fair hair, and caressed the skin there and up his stomach and back again, watching as the muscles of his stomach flexed.
Astarion’s hand on the back of Halsin’s thigh lightened to his fingertips as he drew them higher and higher until he grabbed a handful of his cheek. Halsin jolted forward and further down Astarion’s throat, prompting the vampire to gag a bit before bobbing his back and forth, allowing his tongue to graze the underside of his dick. Your thumb rubbed a circle on the tip of Astarion’s dick before it traced a vein that traveled the length of it, and just when you felt a clear wetness ooze from the tip, you released your grip to raise yourself to your knees long enough to line him up with your center before you slowly sunk your full weight onto his dick. Astarion sputtered around Halsin’s dick, pulling back to gasp and arch his back into you.
Halsin’s cock glistened with Astarion’s spit as it stood at attention, and who was you to deny it? You leaned forward to take Halsin into your mouth and continue where the vampire had left off. With both of your hands free, your right one lightly trailed up his stomach as far as you could reach, and your left wound behind him and grabbed the same cheek that Astarion had. Halsin’s head fell back, allowing him to gaze up into the endless sea of stars. It felt as though he was flying, but the wet heat of your mouth kept him grounded. You hollowed your cheeks briefly before a gasp gave you a pause around Halsin.
Astarion’s dick was still buried inside of you, and he had regained some of his composure. He was jogging his hips, and you felt him stretching you out as he went deeper and deeper. Given how wet you were, there was hardly much resistance and he soon bottomed out. He halted to familiarize both your bodies to the stretch, and as he paused, he surged forward to take your nipple into his mouth. Your back arched to get closer to him, but one of his hands was already around your back, keeping you tight against his body. A larger hand was suddenly cupping the base of your neck, and you pulled off of Halsin to glance up at him.
The druid gave you a warm smile before he bowed over to meet your lips with his. He licked away the moisture on your lips before following it with several quick pecks. As he righted himself, Astarion reached forward with his free hand and grabbed his length to start pumping it. You were entranced by the sight before pleasure sent fire coursing through your veins, and you began grinding down to match Astarion’s thrusts up into you. Your eyes briefly fluttered shut as you rode his dick, but they snapped open when you felt Halsin slightly squeeze the back of your neck to get your attention. The head of his cock was plump and looked about ready to burst. Your lips parted a ‘oh’ at the sight as well as the pressure building quickly in your gut from the suckling at your nipples. Astarion was stroking Halsin faster and you were captivated by the sight of the head disappearing and reappearing in the fist as he pumped.
Astarion kissed up your chest and sank his teeth into the flesh connecting your shoulder and neck. You moaned loudly as you teetered on the edge, but you were sure to keep your mouth wide open. You stuck your tongue out all while staring Halsin in the eye, and let the head of his cock rest against it as you waited for him to shoot his load. The sight, along with the feel of your wet tongue coupled with Astarion’s quick jerking, had Halsin spilling into your mouth as he came. You lapped it up eagerly, and licked the head clean as his fingers combed through your hair.
The teeth in your neck released and the sting was soothed by a broad stroke of the vampire’s tongue. He followed it with a kiss and trailed them up your neck, past your chin, and connected your lips as he used the hand on the small of your back as leverage for a few more quick thrusts before your walls were fluttering around his member and your back was arching as you fell over the edge. As your orgasm rolled through you, you became deathly still before snapping and your erratic grinding had Astarion pulling you off his dick just as he shot his load across your clit.
Your thighs were sore and your body felt limp as you fell against Astarion, who immediately caught you and brought you closer. Halsin’s hand was back to brushing your hair back, and as you cuddled into the vampire’s neck, you felt his head crane back to meet Halsin in a brief kiss.
Oh yeah… certified genius.

haunted pt. 1 (ronal x metkayina fem! reader)
content: you and ronal have been married for about 14 years and have lived with the metkayina happily ever since you left the forest. now imagine your surprise when your ex appears out of nowhere with the man she cheated on you with and the family they built together.
content also: ronal x reader, a bit of neytiri x reader, flirting, arguing, secrets, fluff, angst, and uhmmm ronal being the best wife
wrd count: 3.2k
a/n: this might be a two-three parter but i saw this idea floating around here somewhere and thought i’d make my own version without tonowari being part of it bc why. (can you tell i hate men)
꒰ 🥥 ꒱ؘ ࿐ ࿔*:・゚
it was a perfect morning so far. ronal and i were at home, i was taking care of her. the kids were out and about.
tonowari was somewhere, i didn’t really care.
the sun was out and we were happy. until the outsiders came.
i was sitting in our shared marui, styling ronal’s hair while she sat in front of me. i hummed to myself while gently combing through her wavy hair.
“i have to train some of the children today. on the ilu.” i informed her.
“how fun.” she muttered.
i slapped her shoulder. “children respond easier when you don’t yell at them, my love.”
“if you don’t yell, they don’t listen. look at ao’nung.” she said, gesturing to her son playing in the water with his best friend.
one of them tackled the other info the water and was keeping them under the surface.
“that’s strange. when i ask him to do things, he does it the first time i say.” i said.
“yes, with you. i feel like i repeat myself 10 times everyday just to get that boy to listen.” she sighed out. i laughed slightly.
“he’s a teenager. he will grow out of that disobedience phase soon.” i put a finishing charm on the back of her head and then reached for the shell that ronal put on her forehead everyday.
i handed it to her to put on and i looked through my things for a mirror.
once i found it, i held it up to her face so she could look at her reflection. she held it and she started to touch her cheeks.
where her wrinkles were, her birthmarks. any sign of aging she could find.
“i’m getting old, my love.” she sighed out, putting the mirror down. she stands up and turns to help me up as well.
“no, you’re just growing wiser.” i smiled. she laughed and put my arms around her neck.
she hugged my waist closer to her body and kissed me. she pulled away and examined my face.
“you’re not getting any younger either, you know.” she muttered.
“wow. all you know is how to insult, don’t you?”
“i thought it was funny.”
“no.”
“i’m sorry! you know i love you.”
“no, too late.” i tried to get myself off her, but she pulled me back into her embrace. she held my face up to hers and kissed me again.
i laughed against her lips and pulled away when a horn began to sound in the distance.
i turned my head to see the opening of our marui. na’vi we’re running past, diving into the water, rushing all into one direction.
“what’s happening..” i muttered to myself. ronal and i walked toward the tarp that covered the entrance and i pulled it to the side.
i asked one of the villagers why everyone was running.
“apparently other na’vi have landed on the beach.” he said simply.
i looked at ronal all excited to greet the newcomers. but she looked.. worried. and unpleasant.
“let’s go meet them. maybe they’re nice.” i shrugged.
“hmph.” she huffed. she walked past me and onto the woven pathways.
we walked together to the growing cluster of green villagers gathering on the beach.
tonowari, ronal’s ex-husband, had already approached them and was greeting them.
my heart raced when i saw ikrans. my ikran passed away from old age years ago and i hadn’t seen one since then.
“ronal, they’re from the forest! i wonder if they’re omaticaya like me. maybe we’re from the same clan.” i smiled excitedly, grabbing her hand.
“even if they are, they’re still outsiders.” she mumbled.
“ronal. please.” i sighed.
she rolled her eyes. i tugged on her hand to make her look at me.
“i was an outsider too. and you accepted me into the clan.” i said.
she stared with more sympathy. “that’s different.”
“how? you didn’t know me when i arrived. i could’ve been a threat. but you took the time to get to know me, and ended up loving me and who i am.” i said. her gaze softened as i spoke to her.
“please be kind to them, whoever they are. for me.” i nodded.
she stared and kept quiet for a moment. i just kept a smile on my face until she gave in.
“fine.”
i smiled and kissed her cheek. excitedly, i guided her by the hand through the group until we were at tonowari’s side.
in front of me was a na’vi man with long locs, a strong build, and a tired face and a woman beside him with a slim build and the same fatigue.
something about her looked familiar.
her face was mature, like mine.
she looked at me and her eyes struck something in my memory. the way she eyed me curiously, the way her entire family eyed me curiously.
“you.. you’re omaticaya?” the man asked me.
“yes! you come all the way from the forest to here?” i asked. i was astonished that this whole family came here in one piece.
i looked at the wife again and her gaze changed from curiosity to fear.
“y/n.” she spoke.
i tilted my head when she said my name. then i remembered.
i remembered the heartache and the anger i felt when i left home. all of it caused by them. my smile faded away as i spoke her name.
“neytiri..”
she sighed out. i look up at the man. the man who took her from me. he changes so much. he was bigger, stronger.
“jake sully.” i said.
“yeah, uh..” he looked at his wife and she was looking down at the sand, one hand attached to her small daughter.
her family was beautiful. two sons and two daughters. neytiri aged so gracefully. she looked happy. but right now..
“you can’t even look at me?” i said to her.
she said nothing.
ronal put her hand on my shoulder and i looked at her.
she asked if i was alright. i gave her a simple nod, excused myself, and walked away from the group.
i hadn’t seen neytiri in 14 years. i almost forgot what she looked like. she was regal now.
i stepped into the marui and started pacing the floor.
why in the world would she come here? why did she, of all the people in that clan, have to be here?
and oh course, she had to bring that stupid sky person with her. as if her leaving me for him wasn’t enough.
someone walked into the marui, bringing me out of my thoughts. tsireya looked worried and walked toward me.
“mama, what happened? i thought you would be excited for these people, they’re just like you.” she said.
“i’m sorry, tsireya. uhm..”
“what is it?” she asked kindly.
“i know these people. and i’m just a little shocked, i haven’t seen them since i left the forest maybe 14 or 15 years ago. but don't worry about me, i’ll be fine.” i explained.
“are you sure? because mother’s hissing at them.” she said.
“i’m sure she is. don’t worry, i bet your father is going to let them stay anyway.” i chuckled.
tsireya sighed out and i plastered a smile on my face so she wouldn’t worry.
“i’m okay.” i chuckled. i hugged her tightly. she looks up at me and i tuck a few stray strands of hair back into place.
“my little flower. always worried.” i muttered. i held her face in my hands before kissing her forehead.
“my father’s making us teach their children.” she said. i pulled away and held her hands in mine.
“oh, fun! how did ao’nung react?”
“he tried to argue and now he’s being
forced.” she laughed softly.
“aw, poor boy. well, at least you’ll make some new friends.” i said to her.
ronal pulled the tarp aside and walked inside.
“tsireya, go find your brother. i need to speak to mama.” she said kindly.
tsireya nodded and walked out without another word. she let the tarp down and walked toward me.
“what happened? you were so excited a moment ago and then you ran off.” she said.
“i’m sorry, ronal. i shouldn’t have left the way i did.” i sighed.
“is there something i should know about this family? i already know they’re half-demon. whatever you have to tell me can’t be worse than that.” she continued.
“well, i knew them. the mother and the father.” i said.
i never told her the full story of why i left the forest. it hurt to even think about it, so i always gave her the brunt of it whenever she asked.
i always said “i was in a relationship, it ended badly, and i left for a fresh start.” i never gave names or specifics.
“i would have suspected you did. you come from the same clan. that woman, neytiri, knew your name. and you knew hers.” she continued.
“she’s my ex girlfriend. except, she wasn’t a very good one. and it took me by surprise to see her here. i never thought i’d see her again.” i said to her.
ronal sighs softly. she picks up my hand and holds it.
“i wish you would tell me what was so bad about the forest that made you leave. i hate when you leave me in the dark like this.” she said.
i still didn’t want to tell her. i didn’t know how she’d react. ronal is a passionate woman. and her emotions can be a lot.
especially when she’s angry.
“i’m sorry, my love.” i pulled her close and hugged her.
i pull back and hold her hands. “you’ll have to tell me sooner or later. tonowari let them stay.”
“stay for how long…?” i asked.
she winced and hummed, hesitating to give me an answer.
“ronal.” i laughed out.
“well… they’re not leaving any time soon.” she shrugged.
“ugh, i’m going to kill that idiot.” i huffed, letting her hands go. i covered my face and groaned as she chuckled lightly.
“tonowari was being nice.”
“he’s always been too nice.” i grumbled.
i removed the hands from my face and sighed.
“oh right, i need to go. the kids with the ilu, uhm..”
“go. it’s fine. we’ll discuss this later, alright?” she smiled.
i smiled back and gave her a hug before tonowari walked in.
he held his arms out, looking all confused. “what happened?”
“ugghh.” i groaned loudly before walking past him.
“what-“
“don’t speak to me. big-headed idiot.” i grumbled, holding my hand up to his face.
i did what i needed to do for the afternoon and made my way home in the evening as the sun started to go away for the night.
i walked past the marui that neytiri and her family were in. the tarp was pulled to the side so i imagine someone in there saw me walk by.
i confirmed this when i heard her voice call for me.
i looked back and saw her, one foot inside the hut and the other stepped outside.
i sighed out. i knew i’d have to face her sooner or later. i just didn’t think it’d be the day she got here.
“hi, neytiri.” i muttered.
she smiled weakly. she stepped out and pulled the tarp down, walking a bit closer. “i didn’t expect to see you here.”
“i could say the same.” i said as i crossed my arms.
“i know. so this is where you ran off to all those years ago.”
“mhm. thankfully, ronal didn’t threaten me when i arrived.” i said.
“oh.. you heard about that.”
“yes, i did. i also heard that tonowari let your family stay. i didn’t hear for how long though.”
her small smile faded away slightly. “oh.. well the forest isn’t safe for my family. i think we’re staying here for a long time. forever, even.” she winced.
i nodded. i kept my cool, but trust me, i was fuming.
“look, i know what you must think of me after what i did. but i felt really awful for how i treated you, and i still do. the fact that i couldn’t ask for your forgiveness had haunted me these past 14 years.”
“yeah. you hurt me terribly and i just couldn’t stand to be around either of you.” i shrugged.
i get it.”
i glanced at the open window inside her hut and saw her children inside.
her son was holding her youngest daughter in his lap, both of them smiling and laughing.
“my kids asked about you. they were surprised to see another omaticaya here. of all places.” she said.
the young daughter spotted me and gave me a shy wave. the son said something to her making her look up at him before they both stood and walked away.
“you have a beautiful family.” i smiled.
“thank you.” she muttered.
“i’m sorry i couldn’t give you that.”
she raised her head to look up at me. she was confused and took a step toward me.
“oh, y/n-“
“that’s what you always wanted right? a family. obviously you couldn’t have that being with me.”
“that’s not why i left.” she said loudly. she looked like she said it louder than she should have and glanced at the window of he hit to see if she had caught anyone’s attention.
i just glared at her. i know i didn’t tell my family what happened but the reason she hadn’t told her was because she knew what she did was wrong.
“i didn’t mean to fall in love with him.” she said in a more hushed tone.
“what kind of excuse is that, neytiri?” i laughed out.
“i know how it sounds. i know i lied to you about jake and how i felt about him. and i’m so sorry.” she reached for my hand but i took it away.
“you didn’t just lie. you tried to convince me you two weren’t in love. told me i was crazy and jealous and how you couldn’t possibly love a dreamwalker.”
she sighed out and glanced at the hut.
“what? you don’t want your kids to find out you’re a liar-“ she grew terrified and grabbed my head, one hand holding it in place and the other covering my mouth.
“and a cheater!” i yelled into her palm.
“stopstopstop! please, i’m sorry. please don’t say it so loud.” she hissed.
i glared up at her. she removed her hand and winced.
“i’m really sorry.”
“oh you’re really sorry?”
“are you going to behave this way the entire time i’m here?” she snapped.
i shrugged. she sighed out and looked at her hut. “you’re still the same.”
“what is that supposed to mean?”
“you’re sassy and argumentative.. and getting on my nerves.” she snapped.
i laughed at how irritated she was getting.
“i’m going inside. will i have to see you tomorrow for training?” she asked, crossing her arms.
“no.”
she sighed out.
“you’ll see my wife, though. have fun with that.” i smiled.
i left her there before she could respond to me.
the next day comes and everyone splits off to train with the new family.
tsireya and ao’nung were out by the ilu pen with neytiri’s children, tonowari and a few of his friends were training jake sully.
and ronal was getting ready to go with neytiri.
“are you sure you will be okay by yourself?” she asked me as she looked in a mirror, fixing her headpiece.
“i’ll be okay. i have friends besides you and wari.” i chuckled.
“that’s funny.” she said with a blank stare.
“i’d honestly rather have you help her than me.” she said as she stood up.
“why? we would just bicker and get nothing done. all neytiri likes to do is argue.” i grumbled.
“i know, but it’s awkward for us. your ex girlfriend being trained by her ex’s new wife. it’s just too much.” she groaned. i laughed.
“i know this must be so hard for you.” i dragged on dramatically.
“stay strong for me, my love. you’ll get through this.” i kissed the tip of her nose, making her deadly stare fade into a laugh.
“if you need me, i’ll be on the other side of the island.” i walked past her and left the marui, smiling at the sound of her laughter.
i had to walk past the sully hut to get to where i was going and i just did my hair, so i couldn’t dive in the water to just swim there.
i sighed out and walked past really quickly, trying my best not to look inside.
i turned a corner and a little girl was staring up at me and standing in my path.
“oh!” i muttered. it’s neytiri’s youngest daughter. wow, she looks exactly like neytiri when she was that age.
“hi, little one. are you lost?” i asked.
“oh… no. i’m not.” she answered.
“uhm.. okay.” i nodded. i hesitantly walked past her but her stare never let up. i start walking away when she calls for me. “wait!”
“yes?” i looked back at her.
she starts nervously fidgeting with her hands.
“are you.. omaticaya?” she asks.
i smiled softly. “yes, i am.”
“really?! i knew it! i told my mom but she didn’t believe me!” she exclaimed.
“aw, well.. now you know.” i shrugged.
“i’m tuk! how long have you been here?” she continued.
“uh.. hi, tuk. i’ve been here a long time.”
“wow.. dk you like it here? i like it here a lot, but i miss home. do you miss home?” she spoke super quickly and it made me laugh.
“uhm.. yes i love it here. and i miss home sometimes, but it’s okay.” i told her.
“you’re very pretty.” she smiled.
“aw thank you! so are you, little one.” i said, putting a bright smile on her face.
“tuk? tuk!” her mother called. i grew horrified but quickly changed my face when i remembered her daughter was standing in front of me.
“your mother’s looking for you.” i said.
and just in perfect time, neytiri turned the corner to find her daughter and i. her eyes grew wide before looking down at tuk.
“tuk, come.” she held her hand out.
“okay..” tuk takes her moms hand but looks back at me.
“bye.. uhm, what was your name?” she asks.
“oh..” i glanced up at neytiri who avoided my eye contact like the plague.
“it’s y/n. i’ll see you both around.” i bowed my head slightly before quickly walking away.
“don’t look back, don’t look back, just keep walking,-“ i muttered quickly as i sped up.
-neytiri’s pov-
“tuk, come.” i said to her.
i watched y/n nervously and tried to get tuk away as quickly as i could but i know she can’t help her curiosity.
“okay.. bye, uh.. what was your name?” she asked y/n.
shit.
y/n glanced at me and i tried so hard not to look at her.
she told tuk her name before leaving and we walked back to our marui.
“mama, you should be friends with y/n. you will enjoy having someone like us here.” she said sweetly.
she smiled back at me before jumping back into the marui. i sighed out.
“i think you’re right, tuk.” i smiled at her.
i looked up at the sky before muttering. “i’m sorry for lying to her. i’ll tell her when she’s older.” i prayed.
eywa might strike me with lightning.

dear mads, do you have any rust fics that you recommend? I fear I have run out.
I’ve been writing like a damn fiend so I haven’t read much (and I typically avoid reading anything i’m writing as to not influence my insanity)
I’m sure I’ve shouted off the rooftops about my love for Dead Flag Blues, @barbie-nightmare-house really is one of the most engaging writers I’ve read with an acute level of introspection I will never dream of achieving. Even though I know roughly where the story is going I’m so stoked to bottle it up and drink it down like cough syrup again and again and again. Detective Indiana Abelard can come kick my ass any day.
No Dominion by rosereddawn (E, rust/ofc need to be logged into ao3 to read) one of my favorite Crash-era reads with a fantastic perspective, gave more depth to the girls of Iron Crusaders than anything the show did for them
under a swollen silver moon by blackeyedblond (M, rust/marty centric) MONSTER RUST MONSTER RUST MONSTER RUST SHAPESHIFTING AU OF MY DREAMS
I think we’re all familiar with the masterpiece The Creeping Woods (E, rust/ofc) by am7f that knocked all three eras out of the park and let us see Rust as a dad again (I wept like a baby for at least two hours after finishing myself)
No Mouth to Scream (T, no pairings) haunting lil piece following “Rust Cohle lies in the dark and dreams of women”
Something Stuck in Your Teeth by enkelimagnus (E, rust/marty) it is not often something can make me blush but boy howdy (a sequel was recently added too!)
What I’d like to read:
The idler wheel is wiser than the driver of the screw by ohnoitsnina (M, rust/ofc, first person pov)
lavender bitters by blackeyedblonde (E, rust/marty/maggie)
Strange Is The Night Where Black Stars Rise by orphaned account :’( (E, rust/reader)
A History of Bad Men by am7f (E, rust/ofc)
something in the night by harryhart (M, rust/ofc)
cornflower blue by blackeyedblonde (G, no pairing)
basically everything @reds-writings has ever posted
shades of black and blue by saintsansa (T, rust/ofc)
The Last Time I Saw You by scioscribe (M, rust/marty)
out of time man by @palmviolet (M, rust/marty, which i’m only seeing now is apart of a series with SIX WORKS IN IT!!!!!)
Snippets/Upcoming pieces I haven’t stopped thinking about
@netherfeildren I know ur working on something that i’m going to sink my teeth into a shake like a rabid dog
A Crash-Era snippet by themilkteeth
A Crash-Era snippet by @argesta

Prologue | Chapter 1

Note: I don’t know if anyone will actually like this, but I tried to do something new.
Summer, 1895, Western America
The midday sun scorched the earth beneath its relentless heat, a blinding gold disk high in the pale blue sky. Even the wind had given up, leaving the streets of the small western town dry and desolate. A fine layer of dust clung to everything, swirling briefly in the occasional stir of movement but settling back quickly. Horses shuffled lazily in front of saloons and shops, flicking their tails to ward off flies. A dog lay panting in the shade of a porch, barely lifting its head as a boy walked by.
Joel was twelve—maybe. He didn’t know exactly, well that’s what he told everyone around her. Since actually, Joel was Jolene, a 15-year-old girl, who hid her identity to make surviving easier. She trudged down the town’s narrow main street, her head low but her eyes alert, scanning for anything or anyone that might pose a threat. Or an opportunity. Her light brown eyes, sharp despite their weariness, flicked from person to person, catching glimpses of tired faces under wide-brimmed hats, leather boots caked in dust, and the occasional glint of coins as men passed money over to shopkeepers or into saloon bartenders’ hands.
The girl’s stomach growled audibly. She hadn’t eaten in two days—three, maybe—and hunger gnawed at her like a desperate animal. Her body was all wiry limbs and bones, stretched too thin by starvation. Her skin, tan from the harsh sun, was smeared with dirt, and her short-cropped light blonde hair stuck to her forehead in sweat-soaked clumps. She wore a pair of trousers several sizes too big, cinched at the waist with a fraying length of twine, and a torn shirt that hung loosely off her small frame. Her torn boots dragged along, accustomed to the rough ground.
The scar across her face was old, though it still itched sometimes, stretching from the center of her forehead down through her right brow, ending just above her eyelid. People often asked about it, wondering how she’d gotten it, but Jolene never offered explanations. Out here, survival spoke louder than words.
Her path brought her to the general store, a worn building with weather-beaten signs and dusty windows. The storekeeper was an old man with a calm demeanor, but Jolene had learned long ago how to be invisible in places like this. She could slip in, slip out, and no one would be any wiser.
The girl pushed the door open, a bell above it jingling softly as she stepped inside. The cool, stale air of the store washed over her, a brief respite from the oppressive heat outside. Shelves lined the walls, stocked with everything from canned goods to tools, clothing to medicine. Jolene’s eyes went immediately to the counter, where the shopkeeper, Johnson, sat hunched over a ledger, muttering under his breath as he tallied numbers.
Jolene approached slowly, her hand already fishing in her pocket for the few coins she had. She barely had enough to buy anything, but that didn’t matter. She was after something else entirely. She picked up a small pack of gum from the counter and tossed her coins next to it.
“How much?” she asked, her voice hoarse from the dry air.
The shopkeeper glanced up, squinting at Jolene. “Two cents,” he grunted.
Jolene pushed the coins forward, making a show of counting them out, as her other hand slipped toward the shelf beside the counter where salted meats hung. Her fingers brushed against one of the packets, and with a quick, practiced motion, she swiped it, tucking it into the loose folds of her shirt.
She picked up her gum and pocketed it. “Thanks,” she mumbled, backing away toward the door. The shopkeeper barely looked at her, already turning back to his ledger as he muttered “Take care.” Jolenej pushed the door open and stepped back into the sun, her heart pounding with adrenaline.
Outside, she slipped into the narrow alley beside the store, crouching behind a stack of crates. She pulled the packet of salted meat from her shirt, tore it open with trembling hands, and bit into it. The salt stung her dry mouth, but the taste was heavenly. She chewed slowly, savoring each bite, her stomach finally calming as it felt the first touch of food in days. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, then tucked the rest of the meat into her pocket for later.
Once she was done eating, Jolene wandered back onto the main street, moving carefully now, her sharp eyes darting around as she spotted potential marks. There was always someone drunk in this town no matter the time, or just plain stupid—people who didn’t keep a close eye on their wallets or purses.
She spotted a man leaning heavily against a post outside the saloon, a half-empty bottle of whiskey dangling from one hand. His jacket was unbuttoned, and Jolene could see the bulge of a coin pouch hanging loosely from his belt. The man swayed slightly, his head lolling forward, and Jolene’s pulse quickened. This was an easy mark.
As she moved closer, keeping to the shadows, Jolene reached out, her hand just inches from the pouch, when a voice called out behind her.
“Joel!”
She froze, her heart jumping into her throat. For a split second, she thought she’d been caught, but when she turned, she saw a familiar figure standing on the porch of the doctor’s office across the street. Dr. Avery, the town’s doctor, was waving at her, his face a mix of curiosity and kindness.
Jolene hesitated, glancing back at the man with the coin pouch, but she knew better than to risk it now. She took a step back and quickly crossed the street to where Dr. Avery stood.
“Afternoon, Doc,” Jolene said, trying to sound casual despite the nerves buzzing in her chest.
Dr. Avery smiled, wiping his hands on his apron. He was a tall, lean man with sharp features, his dark hair streaked with gray at the temples. He had a habit of looking at people like he could see right through them, and Jolene always felt a little uneasy under his gaze. But the doctor had never treated her with anything but kindness, and in a town like this, that counted for something.
“You look like you could use a little work,” the doctor said, his eyes glancing over Jolene’s dirty, torn clothes. “Got a job for you, if you’re interested.”
Jolene’s eyes lit up. “What kind of job?”
“I need some herbs. They grow out by the river, near the edge of the woods. Won’t take you too long to collect ’em, and I’ll pay you for your trouble.”
Jolene nodded eagerly. Work was hard to come by, especially for someone like her, and she couldn’t pass up the chance to earn some real money. “What do you need?”
Dr. Avery pulled a small cloth bag from his pocket and handed it to Jolene. “Burdock Root, mostly. You’ll know it when you see it—grows near the water. Bring back as much as you can, and I’ll pay you fair. Just don’t take too long. Sun’s only getting hotter.”
Jolene took the bag, nodding. “I’ll be quick, Doc.”
The doctor gave her a nod. “Good lad. I’ll be waiting.”
Without another word, Jolene turned and headed for the outskirts of town, the dust kicking up beneath her boots as she hurried toward the river. She’d been to the riverbank plenty of times—it was a quiet spot, a small, winding stretch of water that cut through the valley just beyond the town. The woods nearby were dense, thick with towering pines and scrub brush, but the river itself was a peaceful place, far enough from town that no one bothered you.
As Jolene made her way through the dry brush, the sun beat down on her, making her sweat through her shirt. She wiped her brow with her sleeve, squinting against the brightness. The ground sloped downward, and soon the sound of trickling water reached her ears. The river came into view, its clear, cool waters a stark contrast to the dry, dusty land around it. Jolene smiled despite herself, the sight of the water offering a brief sense of relief.
She crouched down by the water’s edge, dipping her hands into the cool current and splashing her face and neck. The water felt like heaven against her skin, washing away the dust and grime. She took off her boots, lifted her pants to her thighs, and stood in the river, the water reaching up to her knees, and for a moment, she allowed herself to relax. She looked around for the herbs Dr. Avery had asked for and soon spotted clusters of it growing near the water, their bright green leaves standing out against the rocky shore.
Jolene got to work quickly, crouching down to pull out handfuls of the roots, stuffing them carefully into the cloth bag. The sun was rising higher, and she could feel the heat pressing down on her, but she kept at it, her mind focused on the promise of payment.
As she worked, something caught her eye in the distance—a small caravan moving into the trees on the other side of the river. Jolene paused, crouching lower in the water as she watched the caravan wind its way through the woods. They were far enough away that they hadn’t noticed her, just a small, ragged figure kneeling by the riverbank. The caravan seemed like an odd sight—there wasn’t much reason to be heading into those woods unless you were looking for trouble or trying to hide from it.
Jolene watched them for a few moments longer, curiosity tugging at her, but eventually, she shrugged and turned back to her task. Whatever business those people had, it wasn’t her concern. She had her own survival to worry about.
The afternoon wore on, and the sun climbed higher, its heat becoming more oppressive as Jolene worked, her fingers swift and steady as she filled the small bag with roots. Her shirt clung to her back, damp with sweat, and she could feel the sunburn setting into her neck and arms. But it didn’t matter—she was nearly done, and the thought of the coins jingling in her pocket by the end of the day kept her going.
Finally, when the bag was full, Jolene stood up, brushing her dirty hands on her trousers. She looked back across the river where the caravan had vanished into the woods, a lingering curiosity tugging at her. What kind of people went off the main trails and into the thick, untraveled forest? Bandits, maybe—or strangers passing through, just looking for a quiet place to camp. Either way, it wasn’t her problem. Not yet, at least.
Jolene began the trek back to town, moving at a brisk pace despite the heat. The walk was mostly uphill, and by the time she reached the outskirts, her legs ached, and sweat dripped down her face. The sight of the town made her feel a strange sense of relief and weariness all at once. She didn’t belong here, exactly, but it was the closest thing she had to a home right now.
She headed straight for Dr. Avery’s office, trying not to look too eager as she pushed open the door. The doctor was inside, bent over his desk, scribbling in a notebook. He glanced up when Jolene entered, his sharp eyes taking in her dusty clothes and sweaty face.
“You’re quick,” Dr. Avery remarked, setting down his pen. He held out a hand for the bag, and Jolene handed it over, watching as the doctor inspected the contents with a practiced eye. “Good work,” he murmured, nodding in approval.
The doctor turned to a small wooden drawer and pulled out a canteen, pressing it into Jolene’s hands. “Here, take a drink. You look like you’ve been to the desert and back.”
Jolene took the canteen gratefully, tipping it back and gulping down the cool water. It tasted faintly of metal, but to her, it was the best drink she’d ever had. When she was finished, she handed the canteen back, wiping her mouth on her sleeve.
Dr. Avery reached into his pocket and pulled out a small wad of cash. He counted out five dollars and placed it in Jolene’s outstretched hand. Her eyes widened at the sight of the money. Five dollars was more than she’d expected; it was enough for several meals, maybe even a new shirt if she bargained hard enough.
“Thank you, Doc,” she said, the gratitude clear in her voice.
The doctor smiled faintly, his gaze softening. “You earned it, Joel. Hard work deserves fair pay.”
Jolene nodded, tucking the money carefully into her pocket. She didn’t linger, giving Dr. Avery a short nod before heading out the door. As she stepped back into the blinding afternoon sunlight, she felt the cool weight of the money against her thigh, a comforting reminder that, for now, she’d have a little bit of security.
Jolene settled into an alley. The money she’d just pocketed was a comfort, and the shadow of the alley hid her from the biting sun. She nibbled on the last bite of her salted meat, savoring every grain of salt, every scrap of toughness.
As she leaned back, the sound of footsteps reached her ears. She didn’t startle—she’d learned long ago how to stay calm, even when it felt like someone was creeping up on her. Glancing down the alley, she saw a familiar figure lumbering toward her.
Mr. Doyle, the town’s gunsmith, was a tall, heavyset man with a face weathered by the sun and dusted with soot. He looked about ready to burst, his whole posture screaming the need for relief. He barely even registered Jolene as he staggered to the far corner of the alley and, with a muttered curse about the “damn hot day,” got to the business of taking a piss.
Jolene smirked a little and kept her gaze pointedly elsewhere, deciding the best thing she could do was make herself as invisible as possible. Once done, Doyle exhaled a loud sigh of satisfaction, tucking himself back in place and pulling out a cigarette from his breast pocket. He struck a match, bringing it to his lips, and took a long drag before finally noticing Jolene in the shadows.
“Ah, Joel. Sneakin’ around as usual, I see,” Doyle said with a half-smile, leaning against the wall. His voice was gruff, but there was a friendly note under the rough edges.
Jolene grinned back, chewing the last bit of meat. “Not sneakin’, just resting.”
Doyle nodded, taking another pull on his cigarette and letting the smoke drift upward. He eyed the scrap of meat in Jolene’s hand with a quirked brow. “You didn’t happen to lift that from old Johnson’s store, did ya?”
Jolene shook her head, pulling out on of the bills from her pocket. “I bought it fair, with the money Doc Avery gave me. He had me collect some herbs by the river.”
Doyle let out a chuckle, his laugh rough and deep. “Well, well. Look at you, an honest working man. Keep that up, and maybe you’ll even make something of yourself one day.” He took another drag, eyeing Jolene with a blend of amusement and something that might have been respect.
Jolene gave a small shrug, a faint smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. “Guess I’ll have to keep the work comin’ to make that happen.”
The gunsmith chuckled again, flicking the ash from his cigarette. “You’re all right, kid. Stay out of trouble, yeah? Doc Avery’s got a soft spot for ya, and who knows? You stick around, keep workin’—maybe life won’t be so rough on you after all.”
With that, Doyle gave a casual wave and walked off, his boots crunching softly on the dusty ground as he disappeared back onto the street.
Jolene leaned back against the wall, still feeling the cool weight of the coins and bills in her pocket. She didn’t trust people too easily, but Doyle’s words settled in the back of her mind like a small, stubborn spark of hope. For the moment, life was simple. She had enough money to get by for the next few days, maybe even buy herself a small meal or two.
As long as she stayed smart, stayed quiet, and kept her head down, she could survive. And for a girl like her, survival was enough.
Jolene glanced up at the sky, watching as the colors shifted, orange and pink slowly blending into the deep purple of night. Her life was a patchwork of dusty streets and stolen shadows, but at least it was hers. And for now, that was just fine

I started to watch Kiseki last week thanks to my dash. My original plan was to bingewatch it after it`s finished if it has a happy ending which might have been wiser. However I am obsessed with Ai Di and Chen Yi. I think it`s interesting that Chen Yi tells Ai Di that they have to be quiet during their first night because Ai Di would get angry if he heard. I am not sure how he wouldn`t recognise Ai Di even if he is drunk because they have always been together but that`s not the point. He clearly cares about Ai Di and doesn`t want to upset him. But how does he know that Ai Di would hear them? Has he heard Ai Di with another man and has he been mad? Even though he calls Ai Di brother at that point he seems awfully upset when Ai Di is with other men and drags him away from them.
Anon, you didn't know this when you sent it, but I am the wrong person to ask.
I'm stressed.
Tumblr media
I'm spiraling.
Tumblr media
I'm laying in a field of lavender trying to snort the stems in an attempt to chill the fuck out.
Tumblr media
All because Kiseki: Dear to Me's finale is so close that I feel it, yet I'm terrified the scene we are all clinging to from the extended trailer is a fake-out, and we are about to be MODC-ed all over again.
Tumblr media
If this doesn't make sense to you, GOOD! Stay innocent, anon. Three episodes ago, I was worried about the same thing as you, but here I am on the eve of the eve of the finale, and I can't bring myself to fathom the show will kill someone, even though IT ALREADY KILLED SOMEONE!
Tumblr media
But if you do know what I'm writing about, Anon, HOW ARE YOU SO CALM RIGHT NOW?! At least calm enough to send me this ask on the eve of the eve of the finale?! How is Laws of Attraction the only show to know the value of a bulletproof vest unlike all these mafia BLs WHERE IT SHOULD BE A GIVEN?!
Tumblr media
And you're just as cool as a caterpillar on a leaf. I'm the caterpillar in the cocoon dissolving into liquid mush freaking the fuck out about death and bulletproof vests, while you are munching on the good bits of this story. Teach. Me. Your. Ways. I'm over here praying to all the santos about a FICTIONAL CHARACTER! My ancestors are judging me right now. So is God.
Tumblr media
So due to divine shade, I'll try to answer your question - Chen Yi admitted he was always jealous of Eddie being with other people which is why he was dragging Eddie's ass out of places, (so I can't imagine him being on your level of chill if he heard Eddie having sex with someone else), but Chen Yi didn't realize that it was jealously and possessiveness until Eddie was . . .
Tumblr media
Until Eddie WASN'T THERE!
Tumblr media
See, I'm already detouring again! Because what will Eddie do if Chen Yi ISN'T THERE?!
Tumblr media
I don't care if this chick is Zhang Teng's sister avenging his death or just has a crush on Baker Boy. She is the sole female character, and as a feminist who supports female wrongs, if she is the shooter, Mortal Kombat "FINISH HER ASS"
Tumblr media
I support the gays, the goths, and the girls, but in the words of a woman who got it, Jane Austen,
Had not my feelings decided against you, sus high school girlie— had they been indifferent, or had they even been favorable, do you think that any consideration would tempt me to accept the woman who has been the means of ruining, perhaps forever, the happiness of a most beloved menace?
Tumblr media
She better have really gone to the dumpster to throw that glass she just conveniently broke and helps step in to save Chen Yi when she witnesses the shooting because if not . . .
Tumblr media
"FUCK"
