Last week I made Scott cry because of a song that shuffled into my ears while commuting. Some of you enjoyed this because you are clearly as mean as me.

This week’s commute had a more cheesy playlist and he vigorously demanded recompense. Below is my peace offering… (with “music” prompt nabbed from Thunderfluff 2023)

“Hmm…? Yeah sounds good, whatever you reckon.”

Virgil looked up from the piano, realising IR’s Commander hadn’t been listening to a word of his explanation of the disaster Alan and Brains had experienced with TB3’s auto-respray bot. His long-legged brother was curled up on the sofa, with a knitted blanket round his shoulders, knees pulled high and entirely absorbed by whatever he was reading on his phone. His face was unusually relaxed and the broad grin before a speedily typed response confirmed that it wasn’t Tracy Industries work that was commanding such rapt attention. Little brother smiled to himself and paused midway through the sonata he was noodling about with and began to play some light chords around Ab major. Then started humming an old John Legend song they all knew well. A twitch of an eyebrow revealed Scott had noticed the change in vibe, if subconsciously, but there was no further reaction.

He cleared his throat and started singing the lyrics. Still nothing.

Gordon wandered into the room and paused with a question on his face - unlike Scott he immediately knew this was odd behaviour - Virgil didn’t usually belt out the words like that unless there was a singalong on the cards. The grinning musician caught his little brother’s eye and tilted his head slightly towards Mr Oblivious on the sofa. Gordon’s eyes narrowed then lit up with mischief and Virgil shook his head slightly. After a melodramatic pout, Gordon settled for leaning on the lid of the piano and singing along.

By the next verse a third voice had joined them quietly from the sofa, the singer apparently unaware of the amused glances thrown his way by two pairs of delighted brown eyes.

“You’re my downfall, you’re my muse, my worst distraction, my rhythm and blues.

I can’t stop singing it’s ringing in my head for you.”

good lord crk stories are getting boring. i feel like im watching like glitter force or smth

like oh no! theres a bad guy! the bad guy is winning! oh? whats this? the hero gained new powers?! the bad guy has been defeated!

its not interesting and i hope they change it up for the next update. i dont play the game anymore but i do follow the story and just. ugh.

i dont hate anyone who does like the story btw, you do you. its just that OB has more interesting stories and the one we're currently on is abt finding aliens with a noodle shop.

on a side note, how can both games have 2 part updates with their stories and yet OB is wildly more interesting than crk (for me at least)?

like the whole thing with Longan was pretty cool and they left it at a wonderful cliffhanger, with Longan just straight up losing it.

crk's cliffhangers are "oh no! will the ancient of this update prevail? find out in like 2 weeks or smth!"

anyways back on track: if they only change up the whole "ancient almost loses but then wins" thing once we get to PV's update im gonna lose it

that is assuming that this is how the story will go until beast yeast is over

An unassuming cheese-monger

It's truly amazing how much you can learn by listening and observing.

Thank you for agreeing to meet with me today Javone. Can I get you a cuppa? Why don't you look over the cheeses and pick two or three you would like to try. I'll make us a plate and we can go sit over in that quiet corner.

As I said earlier, my name is Harriet and I’ve been a cheese-monger in this shop for many years. Before you ask me your questions, let me give you some context for why I contacted your office.

I'm worried. Several of my regular customers have not been in the store in over a week. If it was just one or two of them, especially that particularly handsome one with the gorgeous suits, I wouldn't worry. We often don't see him for weeks at a time. But the others? I'm not sure I can convey to you how unusual their collective absence is, especially for this length of time.

How do you like the Port Salut? I'm glad to see you chose it because it's one of my favourites. Understated, but consistently delicious. Such a lovely texture too.

Now, while many different types of customers frequent our shop, we are known by busy professionals in the area. They count on us for a reliable source of high quality meats, cheeses, beverages, biscuits, and breads. You probably know that type of customer. Those executives who work long hours and rarely set time aside for regular meals, yet still want to eat and drink well while working. We show our gratitude for their steady patronage with delicious goods, prices, and hours which match their needs.

Even though we are not supposed to know many details beyond their name, a career retail employee like myself learns to pick up subtle clues about even casual customers.

Therefore Javone, I can reliably tell you several SIS senior staff frequently shop in our store. Partly it's due to our quality merchandise and, frankly, because we open at the crack of dawn and don't close until very late. It also helps we are an easy ten minute walk away from their home office through Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. That's just the right amount of time to clear your head after a troublesome meeting, isn't it?

Excuse me young man, did I say something funny? Oh, is it that name? I know, it seems a bit silly, but no need to snicker. <clears throat> Now, back to our mutual concern. I believe I have information you want, is that correct?

Over the years both Mr Tanner and Ms Moneypenny have become particularly friendly. They're terribly kind, both of them and they work such long hours. It's been through helping them I've learned to separate out which cheeses Mr Mallory prefers from the ones he does not care for, the beverages that gentleman in the beautiful suits prefers, and which biscuits to keep in stock for the often distracted younger man with the ever changing hair styles and glasses. He's always so kind to me. I really like talking with him.

Which explains why when I didn’t see any of them come through our doors this past week, I became concerned. They rarely all come in on a daily or even weekly basis, but not seeing any of them this past week felt downright odd. I knew immediately something horrible had happened.

The reason Jack from Stranger Of Paradise gives people fist bumps instead of handshakes is that he's touch averse and people's palm sweat is so very very bad sensory but he doesn't wanna be rude. In his mind fist bumps can be just as strictly professional as a handshake which is how he can say shit like, "do any weird shit and i'll kill you" after bumping someone with a straight damn face.

update on me: i have a weird thing in my mouth that i had to pay over 200 bucks to be told first that i might need a root canal and then second by the root canal dr that i do not need a root canal and i just need to leave the weird thing alone. bah. evil. i should have to pay no bucks and my teeth should be fixed for the cost of me blowing a kiss. the end.
