Something my mom mentioned to me when I brought up the proposed gf/df diet change was that for many people the ACTUAL impact to their health from such a change is negative, because before, they were getting all their minor nutrients/vitamins from enriched flours and by cutting gluten, end up vitamin deficient, especially in vitamin B12 among other things. What's more, the things people typically replace dairy with especially in products (soy, margarine, hydrogenated oils, seed oils) are more unhealthy for the average person than dairy. Not to mention that major and sudden diet changes are going to put the body through some amount of stress to adjust in pretty much all cases and you can see why so much dieting flops. It makes people feel horrible for real reasons, and what's more, they know that they feel horrible while they are doing it but are told that this is good for them and they're just supposed to believe that
#but for real i dont think the dr understood that i dont eat grilled cheese to treat myseld#but because cheese and bread and avocado are cheap and cheese has protein#and the whole thing costs me around $1 to make while containing almoat every essential nutrient#i am NOT being an apologist for GMO wheat#but really if we stopped pretending this could all be solved by the consumer choosing to stop buying#evil foods like wheat#and instead realized we are being systematically poisoned#maybe real change would happen

i’m so obsessed with my ocs except i haven’t actually developed their universe At All so i have to figure out what is even happening around them and not just like. what they would eat for breakfast
#anyway. miya would love jam on toast and bacon but normally she just gets the toast with shitty grape jelly#joel doesn’t need to eat (once again. he is dead. angels do not require sustenance)#but it does help him heal faster and have more energy if he does eat#so he’ll eat like 4-6 eggs in one go. any form#fried. scrambled. omelette if he’s feeling fancy. in a single bowl of ramen (this is upsetting to witness)#eggs are so nutritious snd high in protein so that’s why they’re his go-to since he mostly eats just for the physical benefit#and not really for enjoyment or obligation#he doesn’t feel hunger like most ppl do. he may just feel weaker or fatigued more easily#so he goes for the most instantly filling easily accessible easily prepped thing: eggs#anyway back to miya bc i talked too much abt joel and it’s uneven#miya doesn’t really ever get access to any jams or jellies or preservatives other than the cheap grocery store shit#which she enjoys regardless#but the first time she tries an apricot jam or strawberry rhubarb preserves or raspberry jelly#it’s like her whole universe explodes out#it’s so delicious she almost gets pissed off bevause from that point on she’ll never be able to have her boring grape squeez jelly without#remembering that there’s so much more out there in the world of jams jellies and preserves

Always forget how much I love roasted seaweed until I’m making these bowls and adding like. 2-3 times the recommended amount. 😄
One of my favorite hot weather dinners, and good for this weekend since I seem to have wrecked my stomach with stress this week.
I got imitation crab stick to put in it last night, and some frozen shrimp scampi to put in it later, but I might try and hunt down some smoked salmon and avocado too. Just really craving cold smoky creaminess right now.
#also I often fall back on smoked salmon when I’m really busy in the summer because it’s easily prepared cold protein that’s not heavy#it is expensive though#once it starts getting hot all I want to eat is fresh vegetables and cold protein though#like sausage and hardboiled eggs too#so oftentimes I can make it work if I get the cheap salmon#rocky rambles#recipes

oatmeal rlly is the best breakfast like they optimized breakfast w that one
#have some time in the morning? make yummy yummy oatmeal#dont have any time in the morning?#just soak oatmeal over night#want smth high protein? goes perfect w oatmeal#want low cal? oatmeal is relatively low cal while being so so filling#also it literally just has the taste and texture of whatever u put in it#stop putting in like. a sprinkle of cinamon and saying u dont like oatmeal put in a huge heaping spoon of nutella#also its superrrrrrrrr low allergen there is literally zero allergens in there everyone can eat oatmeal it will not affect ur stomach at al#ultimate safe food when u have an awful digestive system#the texture is also like fine once u get used to it#also if u add some chia seeds that can change the texture a lot to be more uniform (also its pudding like which is a pretty good text)#also u can add varying ratios of water which also affects the texture#as well as depending on how long u cook and/or soak the oatmeal#literally best breakfast ever#and thats not even mentioning like baked oats/oat flour and other such applicationsg#also sososososooso cheap#9$ for a literal whole month of breakfast#not including additives but like if ur going for cheap a container of cinnamon and pb is another 5$#OATMEALLLL#i love oatmeal#maple n brown sugar instant oatmeal by quaker is rlly good imo#the protein version is like. a steep decline tho sadly

My little mold finally came in the mail so now I have everything I need to start making musubi and now I can eat it all the time again and become a menace to theblocal spam economy

which I forgot to put on the grocery list because I am so smart
#i have little snack seaweeds but those aren't the same#also ftr I COULD make musubi without a mold. its just so much more fucking difficult that way#rice will only stick when you don't want it to I swear#it also came with a little slicer which is super nice#back in hawai'i spam musubi is one of those things you can buy ...pretty much anywhere. corner stores. gas stations. whatever 7 eleven is.#grocery stores. costco. randomly on the street#so I always had this like super readily available cheap source of filling hot protein rich food and I think that would help me to have now

#like ok its actually better than junk food#and like id say its the equivalent bc junk food here was always an expansive thing like it was never viewed as a cheap easy meal option but#as some fun food with kids etc maybe a lil cheaper than actual restaurant#and falafel/sabich is workers food so it has it all veggies and protein and fat and carb all in one pita#but it used to be like 14 shekels when i was younger which is normal now its 23 or smth and the coke on the side is almost 14

It's chilly out today and I found out a local fast food place has infinitely better pho/ Ramen than any other fancy restaurant in town. 🍲
#lets see i could buy noodles in SALTWATER with freezer bag vegetables for 24$.#OR#i just got a huge soup with baby bok choy and bean sprouts and fresh cilantro fir 10.58#they have roughly the same amount of meat but the cheap place pan fries their protein before putting it in 😋🫠💛
