experiencing writers block and would love some ideas!!

Oh nooo writer’s block is the worst!!! I’m so sorry.

Yes! I have a few different things that I do personally.

1 - and honestly I think this one is the easiest… There are a ton of readers on here that have some really, really good fic ideas. I’m sure you’ve already made a post but putting something out there can get you a few different ideas and maybe one will excite you.

2 - reading some stories from other fandoms that interest you in your free time. I feel like it opens up a different part of my brain. Idk. This helps me for some reason.

3 - browsing TikTok or watching a new show and basing a story off a scene. I had never written cowboy!rafe before so I was a little nervous. I remembered this TikTok edit that I loved and I watched that as inspo and leaned into that for a the “vibe” of that scene and it got me really excited overall.

4 - choosing one of your favorite pairings, going on Pinterest, and finding a prompt. Once you do that, you can kind of think of how that couple would act in that given situation and the see if you can think of a storyline based off of that.

For example: College!Hockey Rafe x Reader

Writing prompt: Family relationships

For Rafe, it’s obviously poor. Maybe the readers is a sweetheart and she catches Rafe after the game leaving by himself while everyone else talks to their friends and family. What would happen after that?

5 - rewriting scenes is also fun. Exchanging him for a lead character in a move or a TV show that you really like. For example, I am going to do a one shot where Rafe plays the Salesman in Squid Games. Then taking one of those scenes and taking a few of the elements to change it into a one shot.

7 - music. This is also a pretty easy one. If you go on Spotify you can search for Rafecore playlists or, just find some of your favorite songs. Listen to the lyrics and see if any of them inspire you whether it be a storyline or a vibe. If you go onto Google you can even do a deep dive on the lyrics and the meaning behind it and this to yourself what your pairing would do in that given situation. Obviously giving credit to the artist of course but I feel like readers really like when you base your work off music because a lot of the time they are framiliar with the song themselves and they can pick up on the nuances or if you slip a lyric in there.

8 - Piggy backing off a story that really inspired you or you enjoyed. I’m doing this right now with my PopStar!Reader and Bodyguard!Rafe. How would they act on NYE? What situation could I put them in? I just thought about what was going on tonight -> New Years Rockin’ Eve. What drama could happen there? -> Maybe she could be performing with a past client of his. What drama would that cause?

9 - Lastly, writing the reader into scenes within the show itself. What is a scene that you think the Pate’s could have expanded? What do you wish they would have done differently? What would Rafe have acted like if the reader was there? What would it have been like if Rafe came home to the reader after that night?

✨ Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About The Haunting Heroes Discord But Didn’t Want To Ask ✨

Are you looking to join this DPxDC server but don't know what it's about? Are you new to Discord and want to figure a few dynamics about it first? Then this is the post for you!

We're Super excited to share with you some of the features you can expect when you join the Haunting Heroes DPxDC Discord server.

🔷 I’m new to Discord. What is Discord?

A noble question. Discord is a messaging/private server application where you can join servers to chat, text, and video call people. Lots of fandoms have servers dedicated to their beloved show/book/comics/blorbos

It’s a popular platform because a) it’s free and b) it’s very easy to organize.

Haunting Heroes, as such, is essentially a private chat room where you can talk about DPxDC with other fans. There are other DPxDC servers, but you can never have too many!

🔷 What do you do on Haunting Heroes?

We do a lot! If you’re here, you may have seen the results of the Writing Games we’ve played, like "Who Wrote That?" as well as "Guess That Fic" (a fun way to give fic recs AND test your DPxDC fic knowledge!).

We also share updates of fanart, non fanart, and fan fics, as well as recommendations to stories we’ve read and enjoyed.

And we have plenty of ways to discuss ideas: from canon resources to headcanons that intrigue you; from prompts to workshopping your story ideas; from asking for a beta-reader to sharing your progress. Sometimes this even happens live while doing a sprint with others.

🔷 What does ‘18+ SFW’ mean?

18+ is fairly straightforward: you have to be 18 years or older to join our server. So why SFW?

We decided to emphasize the Safe For Work aspect not because no NSFW content is allowed—we have a flourishing NSFW category as well as a Dark Category with channels for people to talk about it to your hearts’ content! We welcome more mature content, but not everyone wants to engage in it, or only want to engage on their own terms. Being able to curate what you do and don't see is important to us, hence the separate categories (and having to self-select a role to see the NSFW + Dark channels)

We add SFW when talking about HH because ‘18+’ on its own has certain connotations (just like ‘adult content’ or ‘adults only’).

Why, then, are we an 18+ server? We appreciate the under 18s in our fandom, and there are lots of fandom places that are open to all ages (for example, this blog!). But there are older fans who feel more comfortable in an adult oriented space. We noted that a place for adults only in the DPxDC fandom was missing, and wanted to fill that niche.

🔷 Why Should I Join?

✏️ If you’re a writer, you can find a beta reader or ping the Ideas Helper role if you want some help with your story. You can find and share resources for various things, such as writing, art, and how to use A03.

🐱 We also share lots of pictures of our pets!

💡 We have fun emojis and stickers unique to Haunting Heroes, many made by people who are part of the server.

⭐️ We have a starboard! If someone says something you find funny, react to their post with a star emoji; if a post gets 9 stars, it gets shared to the board! It’s like the highlights reel at the end of a Mario Kart Race, but user generated. It's a good way to quickly know what's been going on in the server.

🐰 Our Bunny Hutch (AKA prompts sharing category) is always hopping. Enter at your own risk! You may go there with the intention of dropping off one prompt for someone else to adopt, and leave having adopted 4 new WIPS of your own!

And most importantly, we are a fandom community looking to share with each other the things we love doing or seeing in the fandom. You are likely to find writers, artists, and commenters you know from AO3 or Tumblr, but you might also find new friends to hang out with or be inspired by new things while lurking.

🔷 What can I expect upon joining?

☑️ Once you join, you will have to read our guidelines to make sure you agree with them and know what you can expect in terms of how we handle the server.

☑️ There are also roles to be selected so you can customize your experience. Some roles will allow you to give information to other members (such as the pronouns you select), others will give you an aesthetic (such as color roles), others are pingable and alert you for specific activities (such as movie nights ,or a new writing game being set up, or when someone wants others to bounce ideas). Some will also grant you access to specific sections in our server, such as dark or nsfw channels, which won't be visible otherwise.

☑️ Don't forget to also select the 18+ role which grants you acces to the whole server. This one is made specifically to confirm you agree with the guidelines and are 18 or older, since that's our sole requirement to join the server.

☑️ Once you define your roles, you can check our server roadmap to guide you through the many channels we have in the server with descriptions for each of them and the bots we have available to help through the experience.

☑️ Don't worry if you get a few pings upon entering: we have a welcome mat where others will greet you once you're in.

Gideon Azulyss is my OC that I've adapted for different universes/ scenarios over time. He started out as a D&D Character, and then I RPed with him in the Attack on Titan universe. As I fell in love with Demon Slayer, I wanted to bring him in and adapt him for the universe. I RP with him still for Demon Slayer, but the more I wrote with him with friends, the more I wanted to tell his canon-ish story.

Gideon is 5'8", athletically built with silver hair styled in an undercut. his eyes are green, with flecks of gold that become more visible when he's upset or angry. he styles his facial hair in a goatee. He is a war-hammer wielder, and in the demon slayer universe he is a thunder breather. His birthday is August 21. Gideon is a gay man, pronouns are he/him. His age varies by story.

I don't have many actual wips. A lot of my ideas are just that, ideas. I'll add my favorite ideas since they're more likely to be written.

First, the actual wips:

1. Escapism - Wow! Surprise to no one! It's all I've been writing for three years! The fic was born because I wanted to give Jon and Gar some spotlight and develop their characters because their respective shows sure didn’t. It was supposed to be more like a sit-com with each chapter being a different but somewhat connected story, but it quickly got out of hand and now it's a 100,000+ word beast with a storyline it follows. More angst/hurt + comfort than anything else and A LOT of character development/exploration.

25 chapters out of 30 done. Last chapter I posted was "The Monster Hunter", now I'm onto the next: "The Monster".

2. please don't take my sunshine away - a more angsty version of Jon's "death" scene from s4 cause I knew it'd need to be slowed down so it could have more emotion. My first and only fic I'll write in Jordan's pov.

3. name in progress - i can’t say too much cause it's Mundi's christmas gift.. season 4 au mostly focused on her favorite bluebirds with some Codycore sprinkled in. I'm hoping I can post it today or early tomorrow.

4. "come with me (I want to show you something more)" - the most self indulgent fic ever. Jon running away from home after the events of season 2 finds himself in Titans season 1 where he runs into Gar in the woods and Gar takes him back to Doom Manor. In a nutshell, it's if Gar met Jon instead of Rachel in s1 ep4.

I also want to use this to explore Gar's character since season 1 (while the better season) still lacked in letting him be a character with depth and feelings.

Now onto the ideas:

1. they don't know you've haunted me, so stunningly - Gar's ex-friend: the rich and famous starboy Jonathan El, who betrayed his trust years ago, shows up on his doorstep. He's soaked from the pouring rain with these sad, pleading eyes, and he asks Gar for help cause he has no one else. Of course, right when Gar is starting to feel better and move on, he shows up and now feelings are about to become messier than before, but deep down Gar still cares and lets him into his house. This one decision causes a ripple effect and Rachel might not forgive Gar this time.

this is gonna take some explaining, months ago I read @not-so-mundane-after-all and @wonderbatwayne 's masterpiece of a fic Wicked Game and saying I got brainrot would be an understatement. The universe was so interesting and full of potential, it's such an unique au with so much love put into it, I fell in love. Long story short, Mundi and I got to chatting cause I wouldn't shut up about an au where I could give Gar a story, and that simple au ended up being an entire idea we planned together to be set in the universe itself; not an au.

This fic would take place many years after the original fic though. And the Jon in this fic is our own Jon made for the Wicked Game universe specifically, but Jon-El and s&l's version of the Bizarro World was an inspiration since they fit Wicked Game's theme extremely well.

2. A Superman and Lois/Titans crossover - a mixture of s1 Titans and post s1-pre s2 s&l. Needing help in his mission to keep Rachel safe from the people hunting her, Dick takes the group to Smallville to meet up with his old friend Clark Kent, who might be only person who can keep both kids safe while he and Kory leave to investigate further and gain more information to stop the end of the world, Lois comes along cause she thinks Dick could use a professional's help.

The kids are supposed to stay at the Kent farm but Gar leaves to wander around town and ends up meeting the boys who are at football practice (and by practice I mean Jon is sitting on the bench cause the coach hates him and Jordan, who's not a player anymore, is keeping him company).

3. Some s&l episode rewrites but in my power swap au aka an au where Jon gets powers first and how differently the show would have went if that was the case.

4. Something that involves Jon-El since I don't think I've ever written a fic about him... which is surprising since he's a part of my brainrot trio. I'm thinking of fic where Jon-El's second chance is having to live with the Kents since they're the only people Sam trusts to keep him in-check.

How did you start writing!! I want to start writing fics too but it a bit intimidating

I totally get the intimidation!! It can be a little nerve-racking starting out but it get easier the more you write and put your fics up

For me personally, I just was reading fics and I kept getting little ideas that i really wanted to share with people. I'm a writer outside of tumblr (i dont have anything published, but i have a couple of novels that i've been working on) so i had ideas that kept building and building and building, and I had been thinking about starting to write here for a long time (one of my moots, Brie (see @leejihoonownsmyheart if u wanna check out her fics) ended up being a big reason why i started actually posting on here). I swear it took me 2 hours to write my first fic (11:49pm for Eric Sohn) but it took like three days to get the courage to post it. I was scared people wouldnt like it or that it wouldnt get any attention but honestly? It felt so good to put it out there that i stopped caring about if it got attention and just started focusing on what I wanted to write and what I wanted to share with people.

If you have ideas though that you want to share with people, I highly encourage you to!! It's a lot of fun once you get over the initial intimidation.

I like to chat about our plot as we write it, and am always the kind of person you can rant to/send memes back and forth. But if you're looking for story only and scarce ooc talk, I can do that no problem. I try to be as active as I can, though some days at work are busier for me than others. I will always let you know ahead of time if I'm unable to respond for any reason. I write strictly third person, semi to advanced lit (can be anywhere from 300 to 800 words) but, write how you please as long as it's 3rd person!! Shorter responses DO NOT bother me.
