But something i noticed and wanted to ask/point out is

In gideon's breathing style, i see you adding a few peacock details and i wanted to ask if that has to do with his demon form? Like you see where im getting at?

Or why do you add those peacock details? Just curious, and wanted to hear your opinion/answer

Heeyy!! Omg thank you so much, I've been drawing a lot lately and feeling really good about my progress!! Thank you also for the ask about Gideon's peacock visuals in his breathing style. 🦚✨🔨

The peacock visuals are indeed a nod to what he turns into when he's demonized, which is a peacock and seraph- type blend. However, there are a lot of symbolic sentiments behind why I chose to include peacock feathers/visuals in his demon slayer breathing style, Judgement Breathing.

Peacocks symbolize a lot of different things, but a few of them are pride, divinity, immortality, and rebirth. Many of these symbols resonate with Gideon and/or his breathing style. I've used Lotus symbolism with him before as a nod to rebirth, because he essentially had to make himself new/parent himself after being abandoned (out of the mud, a flower). There's also the more dramatic take that he's resurected as a demon or turned into one in certain universes.

The symbolism of divinity in the peacock lends itself well to judgement Breathing. In certain (I believe biblical) texts the eyes on the feathers can be seen as eyes of God, which is sort of what I was leaning towards in his demon form with the seraph wings and all. Gideon becomes a hybrid demon because of how he is turned by Genya, so his demon form can play with themes of judgement upon the wicked or just the fact that angels are supposed to be *terrifying.*

I believe that Pride and Immortality are much broader symbols for the peacock motif. In demon slayer, Ubuyashiki states that immortality is the human will. Pride am can be seen in a negative context like in vanity, however Gideon is also openly gay so id like to use pride in that sense! Theres also the fact that peacocks are male (peahens are the female equivalent), and their vibrant coloration and stunning feathers are unique to their gender in the species. Gideon is meant to stand out, and does in his own ways.

Judgement Breathing is a blended style with only a few moves being unique to it, and the others being borrowed and adapted from Stone and Thunder breathing styles.

Certain breathing style forms in demon slayer have symbolic animals in the visuals, namely japanese-style dragons. Similarly, one of Gideon's forms includes peacock visuals and that is his esoteric art: Eyes of Honor.

Sixth Form: Esoteric Art: Eyes of Honor (Judgement Breath, invented by Gideon) - A succession of lightning surrounds the user as breath is gathered, causing blinding light and the visual of Peacock feather ‘eyes’ to appear in the opponent's vision. There is the potential to offset the opponent with this move and temporarily blind them long enough to pull off a close range strike.

This is very similar to his blood demon art in universes where he turns into a demon. The peacock feather eyes, or the literal seraph eyes on his demon form, serve to stun or temporarily blind an opponent. The name of this form is a nod towards a quote from Buddhism (Gojo also says it in jujutsu kaisen), which is "in all of heaven and earth, I alone am honored."

It was the middle of winter when Hikaru died.

It was dark out, the ground sparkling with frost in the full moon’s glow. Midnight, pitch dark, when his life was snuffed out. A lifelong quest for revenge, resulting in his own death by the same hands that ended his family.

The Kakushi said he didn’t go quickly. Bled slowly. Fought as hard as he could. Anyone other than an Upper Moon wouldn’t have stood a chance.

By the time his team’s bodies had been recovered, Hikaru had long since bled out, the gaping hole in his abdomen bearing the same telltale wound as hundreds of others. Hundreds of lives cut devastatingly short, in one brutal, ruthless blow.

The Kakushi looked on in horror at the decimated party. Five Kinoe, led by Hikaru. All dead. Limbs mangled, bones shattered, organs ruptured. It was not an easy death; soldiers rarely died neatly.

Rigor mortis was setting into Hikaru’s long-cold limbs as he was loaded into the wagon. Placed carefully beneath a cover, as if he were simply sleeping, his clenched fist still holding tightly to an indigo blade.

As the pale winter dawn touched the sky with long rose-colored fingers, a small beetle takes flight, her violet elytra glinting in the winter sun. You wouldn’t know by looking at her, but her gentle clicking noises were a song of mourning.

The mournful faces of the Kakushi were obscured by their masks as they carry the fallen back home, sad glimmers in their eyes as they step into the threshold of headquarters.

A man with flame-colored hair and warm molten eyes spots them immediately, jumping to his feet and rushing over. He greeted them eagerly, hopeful for uplifting news.

Golden eyes meet sad obscured ones. No words are spoken; they would only get in the way of the deafening silence. The man sinks to his knees, the world reeling around him.

Shouting comes from around the corner. A shorter man with silver hair and eyes like jade comes tearing into the clearing, a medical assistant shouting after him as he ignores the brace on his back. He frantically shouts Hikaru’s name.

Sage eyes meet gold and crimson. A devastating truth is shared between them. A strangled cry escapes the shorter man’s chest, and he stumbles. His warhammer falls from his hands, thudding against the frozen ground.

The air is filled with deafening silence, thick enough to drown in. It’s so loud; nothing has ever been so universally quiet.

It was the middle of winter when Hikaru died.

GUYS I DID IT. I REDID GIDEON'S MANGA COVER ART.

I just wanna show y'all the comparison between this one that I finished yesterday, and the one I did in May 2024:

I drew Gideon on my phone back then, and used Adobe apps to do the layout and other assets. This time around everything was done on my tablet in ibis paint. The manga assets were borrowed and adapted so that they would be correct for the cover.

The more I draw my boy the better I feel. 💕💖

OUTFIT AND WEAPON SWAP - G-FORCE FLAVORED ✨‼️

I low-key want to write a situation where they get stuck with the other's weapon(s) to fight a demon somehow.

Genya would probably be able to handle Gideon's hammer pretty decently with a few practice swings. Not is incredibly strong so he could pack a punch with a melee weapon if he had to. He also has his last resort measure of demon consumption so he'd be fine.

Gideon would want to use the shotgun but if he only had two bullets he'd try to save it as a last resort so short katana it is!! He'd also probably miss his shots. He's not a marksman. 🥲 Homie would be at a disadvantage and probably resort to dirty fighting measures out of frustration, which... Wouldn't work on a demon. 😅

What does this mean? Well... It's unlikely they'd ever be in that situation. But!! It would be fun to think that they'd practice/train with each other and perhaps get a basic knowledge of the other's weapons. The cuties 🥰🔨✨🔫
