Contrition Masterlist
Complete
Pairing: Chase Collins x Female!Witch!Reader
Summary: As a Hedge Witch, you usually keep to yourself, performing odd jobs here and there for superstitious (and wealthy) people to exercise demons or expel ghosts or whatever. Sometimes this means just reading out of your book for a half an hour to give the customer peace of mind. Other times it means accidentally materializing a murderous warlock back into the physical plane. Chase Collins is a Son of Ipswich, banished from the physical plane in 2012, six years ago. He is a magic addict and a murderer. Still, that doesn’t stop you from growing close to him as time goes by. Perhaps there is more to him than the stories you heard?

My favorite little thing about The Covenant that I always catch and love every time is right at the beginning. Right when the Sons of Ipswich are walking up to Sarah and Kate -- Kate is very blatantly staring at Pogue until Caleb says hi, you can see her eyes avert to Caleb before going back to Pogue with a smile.
Also, read a theory that Chase was fucking with Kate's head the whole movie, honestly - I believe it!

Ah what the hell [Jasmine & Chase]
If they had a kid meme
send me a pair name and I’ll tell you what I think it would be like if they had a child.
Name: Enoch Roman Ash Goodwin-Pope (Collins) and Monroe Adalyn Lucina Goodwin-Pope (Collins)
Gender: Male and Female
General Appearance: They fraternal twins that take on the appearance of both their parents together. Both have a darker complexion than Chase does, and a lighter complexion than Jasmine. Enoch takes on more of his mothers appearance with darker hair, which is curlier and brown eyes with a mix of green in them. He is of average height. Just like her brother, Monroe herself takes a great deal after her mother. Though has flecks of lighter hair in her own hair color. Which she likes to have died other colors at times.
Special Talents: Enoch has abilities that more associate with his father as it is an inherited ability. Which, will only be made apparent when he becomes thirteen. He does not share much other ability with either parents outside of this destined inheritance of power. On the reverse, Monroe takes her powers from her mother and is herself not very much like her parents outside of the future of gaining powers when she comes of age for it. On average, Enoch is very skilled in yo-yo tricks and voice impressions. As Monroe is good with being stealthy and reading lips.
Who they like better: Enoch prefers Jasmine. Monroe prefers Chase.
Who they take after more: Enoch takes more after his mother. As well, so does Monroe.
Personal Head canon: Bringing these twins into the world was a difficult process as Chase can be very stubborn, and doesn't like the idea of 'giving his power away' one day. Though being as the pregnancy was an unexpected one at the end of the day, he really had very little choice in the matter all in all. The twins grow up in a healthy household either way. Becoming for the most part, good witches who want to save their kind from the 'curse'. As well as live normal lives without it's burden.
Face Claim(s):
Enoch
Monroe

Little Witch | Chase Collins x Reader
My Masterlist
Summary: Chase Collins did not die at the Putnam barn fire that night after his fight with Caleb Danvers, but instead he was saved by a Siphoner witch.
Word Count: 2829
Pairing: Chase Collins x Siphoner!Witch!Reader
Warnings: Swearing, Mentions of Death & Murder, Witchcraft
A/N: I wanted to get this one out in time for Halloween and it seems as though I have succeeded. I got this idea for a crossover between Chase Collins and a Siphoner!Witch!Reader from the The Vampire Diaries Universe because I liked the idea of a warlock who was addicted to his power and a witch who can only draw power from others.
The last thing Chase Collins remembered before he awoke from his deep slumber was being engulfed in a ball of fire by an ascended Caleb Danvers and crashing into the Putnam barn. He could have sworn that he was falling into his death or even worse, being transported straight to hell as his foe had hoped. Yet there he was, lying awake in this very unfamiliar bed. “W-Who’s there?” He called out, for he was sure that he wasn’t alone. The cackling fire that burned from across the room was evident enough to prove that. Yet he could not help but feel slightly concerned about where he was, who he was with and how he was still alive. “Hello? Who’s there?” He tried to sit up on the bed and lean back against the headboard, only to realize that he had been confined by the shackles on his wrists. But when he tried to magically remove them, he had failed, for apparently they had been spelled to make sure he did not use his magic.
His current situation only allowed more questions to arise in Chase’s mind. If he had survived the fire, did that mean that The Covenant had taken him prisoner? Why hadn’t they just killed him for his plot for revenge? He did not know where he was or how long it had been since he had fought Caleb. But the bandages on his ribs had indicated that he had certainly been injured from the fight and was being tended to. Yet, who would do such a thing?
There was no way that The Covenant could be so merciful. After all, they had banished his family for a reason. For as long as he had been alive, Chase had been on his own. He had been left to fend for himself until the Collins’ had come along. But even after he had managed to kill them, he had worked on his revenge plot all alone. He had no one, no family or accomplices whatsoever.
The thudding sound of your feet against the wooden floors of the cabin had startled him slightly, yet he had expected a group of warlocks from The Covenant or even the Sons of Ipswich themselves to be keeping him captive. He was certainly not expecting a young woman who was as close to his age to respond to him calling.
“You’re awake.” You gasped for air from your hike up the stairs as you stood by the doorframe of the master bedroom where you had brought the young warlock a few weeks ago. “That must mean the herbs are working. It’s been three weeks so it’s about time.” There was a slight sense of relief that was evident in your eyes, a smile peaking at the corner of your lips as you spoke. The mixture of herbs and healing spells that you had been trying on the poor warlock did not seem successful at first. But you had no other choice than to keep trying. After all, the blow that he had received from that Danvers boy had been quite strong. How you managed to grab him out of that barn alive, you had no idea. Not to mention the fact that taking him to an actual hospital was not an option. The police and the Covenant were still searching for him and if it wasn’t for you swiftly putting a cloaking spell on him at that barn, they would have found him by now.
“Who the fuck are you?” Chase spat as he struggled to get out of the shackles. He felt powerless and he despised that. His whole life had been spent in thirst of more power, yet he was now aware that he had failed at acquiring that power. Not only had Caleb Danvers not willed him his powers, but he was now unable to use his own powers, thanks to your cursed shackles. “And what the fuck am I doing here? Let me out!”
“Y/N Y/L/N. It’s nice to finally meet you... properly, this time.” You introduced yourself as you chuckled softly, stepping into the room as you watched him fumble with the shackles. “And you are, Chase... Collins, right? Or do you prefer Goodwin Pope or Putnam? I wasn’t going to assume that you preferred Collins, since you... apparently killed your adoptive parents, I was told.”
“Y/N... Y/L/N.” He repeated your name, the sound of it being so familiar to him in the back of his mind. He could not remember where he had heard that name. It would come to him, eventually, as he was still feeling a bit groggy from however long he had been unconscious. “Chase, just Chase.” He told you with a shrug of his shoulders. “Who are you, Y/N? And how do you know all of this? How do you know who I am? And how did you... how am I even alive? I thought I... how am I not dead?”
“I’ve been watching you.” You replied to him as you shrugged, despite the fact that you may have come off as a creep for saying that to someone whom you had just formally met a few seconds ago. “I’ve been watching you ever since you left John’s...” Saying your former father figure’s name had pulled at your heartstrings, yet you could not afford to break down in front of this man whom you had saved, the man who was the biological son of the man who had once saved your life and raised you. Despite not being bound by blood, you had loved the old man like a father. Coming home to his corpse had been the worst night of your life but revenge had not been your response to the pain that you were feeling. Your old man had not raised you to kill.
“You’re Y/N... John’s Y/N.” Chase finally realized where he had heard your name. It was from his biological father. He recalled when he had met an old and weak John Putnam a few years ago, when he had learned about The Covenant and his own powers.
The young yet old man had told his son of the young witch he had taken in and raised as his own child. He had told him that you had been banished by your own coven and left to die when he had found you. He had been the only family you had. By the time he had figured out that your powers were very different from his, it was too late. His powers had weakened him yet you were not willing to give up. You had tried to use your own powers to save him, but you could not siphon his aging from his magic. That was when Chase had found him. Thus, John Putnam’s death had been inevitable.
“You’re... the Siphoner witch.”
“Yep... that’s me, the one and only... of my kind.” You replied with a sigh, putting your hands on your hips. “Listen, I don’t know how much he told you about me but... I don’t care. It doesn’t matter. I just wanted to make sure you were okay because it’s probably what he would have wanted, since you’re his son. I spent most of my life trying to find a way to fix his aging... none of the herbs that I brought back from different covens were working; not even my own siphoning could have helped him. You did... you put him out of his misery by letting him will you his powers.”
“Why did you save my life?” He asked. He wondered why you could have had a reason to save him. After all, he was able to see your side of things. John Putnam had been the closest thing you had to a family, yet Chase had been the reason why he was now dead. If anything, he would have expected you to have left him to die at Putnam barn or to have killed him when you had the chance. Yet, there you were, standing in front of him after spending some time tending to his injuries. “Because I’m going to assume that you must have been at the barn the night. I knew that Caleb was going to kill me but I’m not dead so... you must have had a part in that, am I right?”
“Because I owe John... my entire life. And I loved him a lot, like my own father.” You replied, sighing. “He kept me alive, fed me, put a roof over my head, sent me to school... helped me figure out how my powers worked without having to rat me out to my coven who wanted me dead. He taught me every spell I know. By the time I had understood how to... siphon magic from... mainly, it was dark objects but also from John and then he was growing weak. He couldn’t will me his powers and even if he could, I wouldn’t have let him and he knew that. I left home to look for a cure for his aging but I couldn’t find it. And then I found a witch in Vancouver who happened to know how to create an anti-aging spell for him. But as I was on my way back, John left me a voicemail... saying that... he was miserable and in a lot of pain and that... he had been found by his son and... that it was his time to go. He said that I didn’t need him anymore and... that he couldn’t let me waste my life caring for him either.” You couldn’t help but let out the tears that pricked at your eyes. “When I got home, you were gone... and so was he. After that, I... tried looking for you. I assumed that you would be going after The Covenant for what they did to your family and I was right. I watched you for months. That kid who died at your school, I knew it was you... that girl with the spiders... I was watching your every move.”
Chase felt a ping of guilt when he realized how much pain his thirst for power had caused you. He had never had a problem with killing people. He had thought it came naturally to him. After faking his adoptive parents’ supposed car crash, taking the life of his own biological father had been easy for him. Yet, seeing the consequences of his actions in person made the young warlock feel the slightest bit of remorse. Not only had he taken away his shot at having a family but he had also taken that away from you. How selfish had he been? “Why didn’t you... try to stop me? Why didn’t you come to me sooner if you had been watching me for a while?”
“Because I wasn’t ready... to see you. What you had with the Sons of Ipswich was none of my business. I knew I couldn’t stop you from doing what you did. I was powerless and I was angry at you for the part you played in taking away the only family I thought I had, even though I knew that it was what John wanted when he willed you his powers. I wanted to fight you... but I knew that I would have lost, considering that your powers come within you while mine... have to be drawn from elsewhere. You would have killed me and... as much as I had no reason to live, I didn’t want to die. I knew that John wouldn’t have wanted that for me.” You explained. “I knew I should just let you have your revenge. In a way, I wanted revenge on them too. The Covenant was the reason why John became addicted to his powers and grew weak... they could have saved him but instead; they had turned their backs on him. So, I watched you... hurt them. But when I knew that Caleb was overpowering you, I couldn’t just watch. When he launched you at the barn, I put a cloaking spell on you. He saw you disappear as you fell inside. You broke your ribs when you fell but... while he was distracted with saving his girlfriend; I snuck into the barn and dragged you out. I siphoned some of your power and used it to undo the creation spell you put on that girl to make it seem like the spell was broken because you were dead. I left no trails behind.”
“I’m... sorry.” He admitted, looking down at his tied up hands. “And I mean it, Y/N... as a matter of fact, this might be the first time I feel sorry for killing someone, even though he was my own father. I should have waited, Y/N... I should have made him wait until you were home before I let him will me his powers. You should have at least gotten to say goodbye.” As he listened to you explain why you hadn’t stopped him from going after the Sons of Ipswich and how you had managed to save his life, he couldn’t help but realize that he did have someone who cared for him after all. You may have had your reasons for saving his life and you may have had your issues with him for what he did, but for the first time in his life, Chase did not feel alone. “Thank you...” He said, softly, looking up at your tear stained face. “Thank you for not letting me die out there. And thank you for caring for me like you cared for my father. I know I’m not deserving of it but I do appreciate... what you did for me.”
“Well, I was coming home with the anti-aging spell so... I don’t know about that goodbye. Too bad he didn’t need that spell though.” You shrugged in the midst of your tears. “Your thirst for power was your downfall, Chase. But I don’t blame you for it. John used to tell me how addicting it was to use... and I wish I could have done something about it. I was too young to know what was going on.” You admitted. “But I know better now. I couldn’t help him but... I could help you. It’s the least I could do in return for what he did.”
“He raised you well, Y/N.”
You gave him a nod as you quickly wiped away your tears. “Had he known about your existence when you were younger, he would have raised you just the same.” You admitted, smiling slightly as you sat down at the edge of the bed.
He nodded in agreement. “Maybe, he might have.”
You placed your hand against his tied up once but not siphoning some of his power to remove the shackles just yet. “I can let you out of the shackles if you promise not to use any of your powers until you’re fully healed. The Covenant are not convinced that you’re not around anymore, Chase. When they didn’t find your body once that barn burnt down, they assumed that you must have been transported straight to hell. The cabin’s cloaked so they can’t try any locator spells to find you. But I know that once I let you out, you’re going to try to use your powers... Caleb Danvers can sense when one of the Sons of Ipswich has used their powers. He’ll know it’s you and we both know that won’t end well. I saved your life to keep you alive, Chase. I don’t want for John to have died in vain.”
“I wouldn’t trust me if I were you...” Chase admitted, laughing bitterly at his current situation. “This power is addicting. I won’t be able to control how much I use...”
“Well, if you do eventually... find a way to control yourself, I may or may not have an incentive for you.” You informed him with a shrug, your hand still not leaving his. “I still have that anti-aging spell that I managed to get for John.”
He pondered your offer for a moment. An anti-aging spell would definitely help him use his powers without worrying about the aging. But after his battle with Caleb and his own injuries, he could not bother about them. He was too exhausted and in pain to think straight. He did not know what he wanted by he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you. After all, he did not want to be alone and if you were to spend the rest of your life alone, that would have been his fault too. “How about I go back to sleep, just for now?” He asked. “And I’ll think about what I want... eventually.”
You nodded, grinning widely. “Of course. Goodnight, Chase.”
“Goodnight, my little witch.” He said as he closed his eyes, knowing that he had just used his father’s nickname for you.

Chase Collins’ Savor Part 1
Gif is not mine. Credit to the maker
Pairing: Chase Collins x Original Female Character
setting: After the end of the movie, The Covenant
summary: Being Caleb’s adoptive sister and a witch from a powerful bloodline of Salem witches, Rose Summers was just trying to help Chase when he started going to school at Spencer Academy. The day after Caleb’s birthday, Rose had to keep the fact that Chase was still alive from Caleb and the others in order for her to help him control his powers.
Warning: None
Word Count: 1028
Part 1:
I was asleep in my single person dorm because I didn't want to go to Fall Fest, when I felt my bed dip. I shot up in bed to see Chase sitting at the end of my bed with his head down. "Chase, what's wrong?" "I need help. I need to learn not to be so power hungry. I almost wasn't able to see you again because I almost killed your brother even though you're adopted by his family." said Chase "I can help you, Chase but you need to open up to me more. I maybe from a bloodline of Salem witches but I want to help you control your powers. " "How can you do that without your brothers finding out that I'm still alive?" Said Chase "I can pretend to be depressed when I see a letter you left me before all of this happened and be so pissed off at Caleb that I'll stop speaking to him for a long time." "Do you have a pen and paper, so I can write the fake letter? I'll be gone from here before anyone will notice that I'm gone." Said Chase I handed him a pen and pad of paper for him to write the fake letter. I ended up falling asleep again when I felt lips on my forehead, and something being placed in my hand. The next morning, I woke up feeling like I don't remember what happened last night, when I heard a loud knock on my dorm room door. I got up and answered the door to see Sarah and Caleb. "Hey guys, what's up?" "We just wanted to check on you. Reid and Tyler said that you didn't go to the dance." said Caleb "I wasn't feeling good and what was the point of going when the person I wanted to go with is dead. " "Rose, I understand that you had feelings for Chase, but he wasn't good for you." said Caleb "How would you know?! I was adopted like he was! I have powers like you guys! He just needed someone to help him learn how to control his powers, so he didn't get out of control, but now it's too late for me to help him!" I said as I handed Caleb the letter that was in my hand "Is that a letter from him?" said Sarah "Yes, I found it in my hand when I woke up. He must have left it here before the dance last night." Caleb opened the letter and read it. As he was reading the letter his eyes went wide towards the end. He handed the letter back to me before taking Sarah out of the room to leave me alone. -outside of the dorm- "What was that about Caleb?" said Sarah "Rose was telling the truth, Chase truly loved her and was willing to seek help so he could be with her. Damn it, if I had known that sooner we could have welcomed him back into the Covenant with open arms." said Caleb "Poor, Rose. I hope she can get through this." said Sarah "I don't think she will. Chase was the only one who understood her since he was adopted as well. We just have to see how the rest of the school year goes before graduation gets here." said Caleb "We should go see Kate and Pogue to see how they are doing." Said Sarah "You're right. Let's go see them. " said Caleb
-back at the dorms-
I sat at my desk working on some homework when my cell phone started to ring. I picked up my phone to see a number that I did not know, so I answered it anyways. When I answered the call, I heard Chase’s voice.
“Chase? How did you remember my number?”
“It wasn’t hard to forget. I just had to hear your voice, Rose.” Said Chase
“Where are you, so I can drive there to help you this weekend?”
“I’m in Salem at an old bed and breakfast about a block from an old manor like house.” Said Chase
“Wait, a bed and breakfast a block away from a manor like house. I may know that house, what does the house look like?”
“The house is red with a black door and a huge wrap around porch. I can see it from the room I’m in.” Said Chase
“Is there a symbol on the door? Please tell me if you do see it.”
“There’s the symbol of the triple moon goddess on the door. Why do you ask?” said Chase
“That’s my birth family’s manor.”
“Wait, I thought you told me that you were adopted by Caleb’s family when you were just a few months old.” Said Chase
“I was but it was an open adoption so that if I ever wanted to find my birth parents I could. Maybe, I still can since my last name wasn’t changed to Danvers when I got adopted.”
“What is your last name again?” said Chase
“Summers. Why?”
“You are part of the Summers family which is one of the most powerful families of witches in Salem.” Said Chase
“I thought I already told you that?”
“You did. It’s just I’m still surprised about it.” Said Chase
“Chase, is the number you’re calling from a cell phone number?”
“Yes, it is. I just got this phone when I got here. You can save the number so if you ever need to talk to me during the night you can call me alright.” Said Chase
“Okay, I will. I got to go finish some homework before school tomorrow. I’ll call you tonight.”
“Alright and Rose…” Said Chase
“Yes?”
“You know I love you right?” Said Chase
“Yes, I do. I love you, Chase Goodwin-Pope.”
“God, it feels good to hear you say my real name.” said Chase
“If you stay a good boy until I get there then maybe you get to hear more than your name coming from my lips.”
“Your naughty girl. I’ll text you the address of the bed and breakfast tonight, so you’ll have it for this weekend.” Said Chase

bucky-barnes-guardian:
Pogue saw that she had his jacket on but he didn’t mind, it looked better on her then it did him. He also distrusted Chase especially after Caleb had told him about his eyes, he was thinking about what they were going to tell Shadow if Chase was indeed one of them somehow.
Shadow felt her eyes continuing to shift as she let out a low growl, as she felt herself starting to shift. “Oh no, please no.” She said as she closed her eyes, before feeling herself teleporting but she was thinking about Chase as she teleported unknowingly to him.
@dhampiravidi
Like the boys, Jayn had started rifling through the filing cabinets, trying to find Chase’s records. “Here,” Caleb said, pulling it out. Jayn used her phone for a light as he read about Chase being adopted, changing his name from Goodwin-Pope, and how he’d turned 18 the day his foster parents died. But someone was coming. She shut off her phone, and the witches levitated themselves above the cabinets.
Chase was changing, shedding his uniform for more casual clothes when Shadow suddenly appeared in front of him. “Holy shit--” He stumbled back, barely righting himself in time. “You weren’t kidding,” he said, nervously chuckling. Chase pulled on his shirt. “I was just about to come to you, but you’re here.”

fanfic idea: The Covenant AU/Crossover - winteriron
So, I was watching the covenant movie. You know, the one with Sebastian Stan in it? It was... enjoyable, I guess? I had fun re-interpreting the characters anyway, and I couldn’t help but think about the what if behind Chase Collin’s character. Also, I don’t know if it was just me or the movie did it deliberately or if it was just a coincidence, the powers in there seemed to be likened to drugs, even the way the dialogues went made me think they were talking more about drugs than an actual super psychic power. Anyway, not actually the important part.
Anyway, the whole thing made me think about an actual au world where Chase Collin’s name before he was adopted was actually James Buchanan Barnes Goodwin Pope (well that’s a mouthful.... and long.... whatever. let’s pretend that Barnes is the actual recognized last name instead and Goodwin Pope was the name ever used once and only on his birth certificate), and before he transferred to Spenser Academy, he had an actual life, was at this actual school and had actual friends..... Maybe even Boyfriend. Whose name is Tony. And at this point of thought, I’m pretty sure it’ll be another winteriron au I’m not sure I’ll ever finish.
Then, I began thinking about Chase’s life before Spenser. Sure, he could also be the reincarnation of that guy that died in the witch hunt or the power that passed down through his generation was just cursed and dark and evil and thus, his power is malicious and he’s all pure evil and just full of greed, period. But, let’s try another angle, something with a little bit more ‘bucky’ in it.
So, he lost his mother when he was two. Did he go to an orphanage, or was the couple that adopted him knew his mother? I’m thinking that maybe his mother was Collin’s family maid and helper. Since the couple couldn’t have a baby on their own, they adopted James when she died. After all, better a child they knew about, and they knew his mother, than a total stranger’s child (after all, Winifred Caroline Barnes Goodwin Pope, or more known as Winnie Barnes, was such a sweetheart, perhaps her child will grow up like her). But, they changed his name to Chase Collins (maybe they like alliterative name, maybe James was such a mundane name, maybe they like a simpler name than Buchanan) and didn’t tell him that he was adopted, at first.
(In another au of this au, it was Winnie that was rich and Collins were the family friend, maybe cousin, twice removed, and they adopted Bucky to get access at said money. Thus, it could justify and maybe even give a little bit more reason for their death, but then again, I somehow like the first idea better. Meh, let’s see how the story goes, anyway)
So, growing up, Chase had a childhood friend, his only friend, the sickly son of the neighbor’s homestay nurse, Steve Rogers. They were both homeschooled, Steve because of his sickness, and Chase because his parents thought the education they provide was much better than any school could. They were close, like brothers, even though Chase’s parents didn’t entirely agree on their friendship. But, it ended when Steve and his mother had to move away when the neighbor’s grandfather had passed away and have no need for Sarah Rogers services anymore. They promised to send letters, but even that dwindled not long after a season pass. Little Chase tried to find out what happened, why didn’t Steve send letters anymore, so he went, on his own, to Steve’s last address and went to the school Steve had mentioned in his letters. The world was so big, he found, but somehow he managed to get to Steve’s school. There, Steve was surrounded by people his age, and Steve wasn’t so sickly anymore.
(It wasn’t that Steve was ignoring Chase. He still thought Chase was his best friend, the friend he had when he couldn’t even breathe properly. Chase is, of course, will forever be in a special place in Steve’s heart. It’s just that, Chase was too far away, and Chase’s parents didn’t like him. And Steve was still a kid, just a kid, and there are friends that he made too, nice kids that he didn’t have to wait days to hear about.)
Chase went back home and decided to never send letters again. His parents only knew he was missing only five hours before he actually arrived home. They haven’t even called the police yet. He didn’t know what to feel about that. Then, he told his parents that he wanted to go to school.
They sent him to the best elementary school there is. The kind where there’s an elementary and a middle school and high school enrolled in one big area, where students can live in dorms or in one of the townhouses. Where the children are rich like him, with the same kind of privileges and expectations. Where some of the kids he knew from his parents’ social circle, others he’d seen once or twice in television and newspapers.
It was hell because he had to live in a dorm. He missed his parents, the children around his age were annoying and some of them were mean and snooty. The nice ones were cowards and spineless and not like Steve (because, even sickly as he was, Steve had been brave).
(It wasn’t their fault, but while Chase wouldn’t want his new friend to be like Steve, he didn’t want anyone less than Steve either, or so his child mind went)
His roommate, Tony Stark, was the only light in said hell.
Tony Stark was a beautiful child, with chubby cheeks and wide, sparkling brown eyes. His hair seemed to be in a constant state of mess, but it looked so soft that Chase wanted to touch it. When he talked, his hands were always in motion and sometimes his words couldn’t catch up to what was in his mind, but it was so cute that Chase found himself in a constant state of smiling whenever Tony started another of his cute tirade. Tony Stark was smart, sometimes shy, with a small stature (like Steve, but not) but he never shied away from standing his ground.
So yes, Tony Stark was the only sole light in said hell, the best kid in school. So of course, they became best friends.
And, of course, when his powers first manifested at his 13th birthday, he was so scared that he didn’t think of not sharing it with Tony.
But, Tony got scared.
God, he was so scared.
(In hindsight, he shouldn’t have shown his powers the way he did, by bending metals with his mind and destroying the cup across the room. That his eyes also turned black, like a demon probably didn’t help either.)
But, Tony was the best, ever, because later that night he went to Chase’s bed and held his hand under the blanket. Tony asked him questions, like are you scared? Do you know why it happened? Do you want to find out together? What can I do to help?
That night, Chase cried to Tony’s shoulder, because yes, I’m scared. I don’t know why. Yes, please. Just stay with me, don’t leave me.
Tony stayed and they held hands all night until Chase’s eyes dried and they both fell asleep on Chase’s bed. Tony was the best, forever and ever.
(Please, don’t let him lose Tony like he lost Steve)
Tony helped him figure out his powers. By the end of the week, he already knew the powers responded to what he wanted, anything he wanted. He could do anything his mind could imagine. Whatever he wanted, whatever he needed, he could do it. There are some things, he found that he couldn’t do. But, he figured it was just because he wasn’t strong enough yet. It felt like he would be able to, if he can get stronger, he just didn’t know how to get there yet.
He didn’t tell Tony this until four months passed because he reveled in every of Tony’s expression when he saw Chase did something new. His excitement fed Chase’s own excitement, and even though he already knew what he could do, it had felt like another discovery, an adventure, for every time it was done in front of Tony. Tony had punched his arm when he told him, and later, he showed off just how much he could do, showed him the beautiful conjuration of the Galaxies and Stars inside their dorm room, the alteration of light in various shapes and forms, and the wonderful ability to heal wounds, the little scrapes Tony often got from his tinkering.
He treasured every expression Tony had on his face as he watched the wonderful things he could do with his Power. This moment was when he vowed, if there has to be a reason for his power, then it must be for this, for Tony’s expression, and the warmth in his heart.
“Hey, do you think you can make something that moved? Maybe..... Ooh-ooh, a spider! Just a little one!”
“Oh, I haven’t thought of that before. Let me try.... Hmm... Not yet, I guess. But I feel like I can do it once I get stronger.”
“Ooh, awesome! Show it to me first, okay? I like those little cute ones, with long, thin legs and small body. Kinda felt it could be me if I was born a spider, you know. Little-and-Mighty. Don’t you think? Hahaha~”
“Sure, Tony. I bet you’ll be the cutest spider, with brown skin and darker eyes. Strongest and cutest spider around.”
The first time he ever used his power to hurt another person was when he saw an upperclassman pushed Tony around. Tony was the smartest, he already skipped a few grades while they were there. Chase was only sad because that meant he couldn’t have any classes with Tony, but they were still roommates. They're still best friends. And that’s more important.
The upperclassman didn’t like that Tony was so much younger than him, but worlds smarter. So, he pushed Tony, and Tony had cried out in pain.
Chase wanted him hurt. So that upperclassman got hurt.
A fire had burst from his back. It was quickly extinguished, but the burnt skin will leave scars. Chase thought it should be warning enough. He would’ve let the fire linger a little bit longer, but Tony had stood up and tried to help the older kid. He couldn’t let the fire hurt Tony. So, he extinguished it just as a teacher came to help the older kid, just before the flame could reach to Tony’s hands.
When Tony turned to Chase, he didn’t look -
He looked -
(’Why are you looking at me like that?’)
Later, Tony didn’t come back to their room.
“I don’t want you to hurt anyone for me,” Tony said at lunch. He looked sad.
Chase was sad. And angry. Because. Because -
“That kid hurt you,” Chase said instead, anger fusing in his voice. “He deserved everything I had done to him.”
“I can take care of myself!”
“I know you can, you’re the best!” Chase exclaimed. “But, what other use is there for my Powers if I can’t even use it to help you?”
Tony didn't say anything. His eyes only got sadder, before he closed them tightly and opened them again, this time staring straight at Chase.
“Chasey, I’m leaving school once this school year ends,” Tony said. “My dad already pulled some strings to have me graduate early. With my scores and the fact I already skipped a few grades, the school wasn’t protesting it, and he wants me at MIT soon. I’ve been hedging and stalling him this long, but I can’t anymore. I won’t be here after the break.”
Chase felt his world was going to end. It was worse than when Tony didn’t come back to their room last night. No, the thought of not seeing Tony again, ever, this was hell.
Chase remembered he was yelling and denying, holding on to Tony as if he could stop him from leaving, ever, until he heard Tony whimpered out when he held on too tight. The thought of having him stay, forever, with his power did pass his mind. The tendrils of his power, his want to chain Tony to their dorm room so he can’t ever leave was already at his fingertips. But then, Tony reached back and his hands cupped Chase’s cheeks and he felt the soft press of Tony’s lips against his forehead, then he couldn’t do anything but cry.
“I have no one else but you,” Chase had said.
“Please, don’t hurt anyone for me anymore,” Tony had replied instead.
TBC
A/n: that was it, for now. Need to change the first part before I port this over into a proper story for AO3. Also, wonder if anyone’s gonna like it? The Covenant didn’t seem like a popular movie...
Also, spoiler: a lot of you are probably already thinking that there’s probably gonna be something that gonna happen to Tony and it gonna lead Chase to a quest for power (or maybe he was already going to, just that something is going to make him a little bit more desperate), and you are (probably, maybe) not wrong.
Then again, plots can change and I’m not the most consistent person around :D

Who I Was, Who I've Become

by Sapphire09
Chase Collins wasn't the name that was given to him by his birth parents. Turns out, Chase wasn't his name at all. Instead, his mother had named him 'James Buchanan Barnes Goodwin Pope', though gratefully, 'Goodwin Pope' didn't seem to be the name his mother was using either, besides in the birth certificate. Chase was the name given to him when he was adopted since he was young enough not to remember the change.
Anyway, that wasn't the important part of the story. What was important was this: Before Spenser Academy, Chase Collins had a life. A friend. While he wasn't lying, murder did come easy for him, there was once a time when murder wasn't something he would do so easily. There once was a time, a more peaceful time, when his childhood innocence was still intact, and all he wanted to do with his power was for this one person.
“Please, don’t hurt anyone for me anymore,” he once said. 'Too late,' Chase thought years later, staring at the dead bodies lying in front of him.

Contrition: Chapter 1
Pairing: Chase Collins x Female!Witch!Reader Summary: As a Hedge Witch, you usually keep to yourself, performing odd jobs here and there for superstitious (and wealthy) people to exercise demons or expel ghosts or whatever. Sometimes this means just reading out of your book for a half an hour to give the customer peace of mind. Other times it means accidentally materializing a murderous warlock back into the physical plane. Warnings: Swearing (always), mentions of murder and death, struggles with addiction Word Count: ~5,122 A/N: AU where the events of The Covenant happened in 2011. Series is already completely written, so I’ll be releasing chapter at set intervals (One chapter every 3 days, so the next will be out the 18th at 4 pm EST and so on).
Masterlist // Next Chapter
You hated Ipswich. Hated the Sons of Ipswich and the way they used magic. The town was boring, but the people were superstitious (dating all the way back to the age of witch hunts), which meant you’d get jobs there on occasion.
So when you got a job from someone complaining about an old, haunted farmhouse, you groaned. It was more than likely one of the Sons playing pranks on the unsuspecting, naive townsfolk, but money was money so you packed up your tomes and reagents and drove partway across the country.
On the off chance it was an actual haunting, you brought salt, iron, and enough herbs for a bevvy of smudge sticks.
The drive wasn’t particularly intriguing and you went through at least ten CDs on the trip (you cursed being in the middle of nowhere where not even radio signals could reach). Your GPS crapped out the closer you got to the town until you eventually had to start actually reading street signs.
“Stupid-fucking-middle-of-nowhere-hick-town,” you muttered bitterly.
You were so focused on trying to find the road you needed that you nearly drove straight into a man who was crossing the street.
Well, “man” was perhaps a bit too generous. He couldn’t be older than thirty and was one of the damn SOIs.
You had half a mind to plow through him just to make him use magic, but slammed your foot on the break at the last second. You glared at him as he walked over to the driver’s side window, nearly retching at the smell of degenerative magic wafting off him.
“The hell do you want, SOI?” you asked, having half a mind to just drive away.
He frowned down at you, confusion lining his features. His dark brown eyes scanned the inside of your car and you had half a mind to hex him just for that. “You almost ran me over with your car and now you’re calling me a bean plant?” he asked, swagger making you want to punch him in his stupid face.
“S.O.I.,” you said with barely-contained annoyance. “Son of Ipswich.”
His face darkened as he stared down at you, posture suddenly tense. “I know we’re kinda well-known around here, but how could you tell I’m a Son of Ipswich from just a glance?” he asked, smile tight.
You rolled your eyes. “Please, I could smell your consuming magic from miles away.”
He stood straighter and your hairs stood on end as he gathered his powers, preparing to fight you, but you were already waving him away.
“I ain’t here for you, SOI. I’m not here to cause trouble. Just got called for a job,” you said disinterestedly. “You gonna leave the me hell alone or are we gonna have a problem?”
He stared at you for a moment longer before relaxing ever so slightly. “I’m going to tell the others about you. Don’t be surprised if one of them drops in on you later.”
You glared up at him, hand reaching for one of your wards, just in case. “If one of you ruins my cleansing we’re gonna have issues.”
He smirked at that. “I get it now. You’re a hedge witch.”
You bristled at his tone. How dare he, with his necrotic, draining magic, judge you? You’d live ten of his lifetimes, existing more nobly than he ever could.
You bit back a plethora of curses and instead smiled in a manner you hoped was disarming. “I’m going to say this once, and only once: Leave me to my own devices while I’m in Ipswich and we won’t have any issues. Cross me while I’m working and you’ll live to regret it.”
He seemed to regard you for a moment before extending his hand. You flinched away from it, hand tightening on your ward, before you realized he meant to shake your hand.
“The name’s Caleb Danvers,” he said when you still hadn’t moved to take his hand.
You narrowed your eyes at him. “I know that name. You ascended a few years ago. Blasted the Fifth into oblivion.”
He looked suddenly sheepish and perhaps a bit nervous, which was odd for a man of his stature and power. “Yeah, that’s me. Nice to know my reputation precedes me.”
You leaned back into your seat, unimpressed, flat stare boring holes through his skull.
He sighed. “I think we got off on the wrong foot. It was wrong of me to test you like that. I could tell you were different but I couldn’t tell how. Let me make it up to you by making sure Pogue, Reid, and Tyler stay out of your hair while you’re in town?” he asked, all toothy smiles.
You scoffed. “Nah, let em bother me. I’ll send ‘em back as toads, just to amuse myself,” you said, perhaps a bit too spitefully.
Caleb let out a deep sigh. “I can tell I’m not going to win you over. Just... good luck with whatever you’re doing, alright?”
You glared at him. “I don’t need luck, Son of Ipswich. Keep it, because you need it more than I ever will.”
And without saying another word to him you shifted your car into gear and resumed your search.
A barn. Your client- a frazzled middle aged woman whose name you couldn’t be fucked to remember- wanted you to cleanse a barn. She’d apparently bought the land recently and while she was trying to clean up the barn, a few strange occurrences had her questioning her sanity. Scared, confused, and superstitious, her search for someone who could remedy the supernatural led her to you.
She refused to go anywhere near the property until you were done so you made the trip down the pothole ridden one-lane dirt road in your Jeep by yourself.
The barn was really more of an open field where a barn had once stood. A few support beams still existed, but it was clear from a glance a fire had destroyed most of the original building. You had to watch your footing as you clambered through the tall grass with books and reagents in-hand, as old farm tools (some of which still looked dangerously sharp) were strewn about.
As soon as you got close, an uneasy feeling settled at the base of your spine, which immediately made you pay more attention to your surroundings. You’d learned long ago to listen to your senses, and right now they were telling you there was something dangerous nearby.
It seemed the lady wasn’t completely paranoid, after all. You’d have to work for your paycheck today.
You set your tomes down and grabbed the small white-wood bowl that was black on the inside from previous smudge sticks. You pulled a smudge stick from your coat pocket and lit it with a snap of your fingers.
You walked forward, waving it slowly, expecting some of the negative energy to dissipate, but it only seemed to get stronger the closer you got to what used to be the center of the barn.
It was almost suffocating, the negative energy swirling in the area. You’d been doing this a long time (much longer than someone would guess based on your appearance) and you’d never felt anything like this before.
You backed away slowly, realizing you’d have to bring out the big guns for this one. The smell made your nose scrunch up; rotting flesh not unlike that which you recognized from only the angriest, most violent spirits. It was better to be safe than sorry with cases like this.
You grabbed your tome, salt, and crystals from the spot a few yards/meters away and returned to the spot you’d left the smudge stick at. Once you found a space you were sure wasn’t full of sharp objects that’d puncture your ass, you took a seat. After pouring a small, neat salt circle you grabbed two more smudge sticks and levitated them short distances away to opposite sides of the barn. Even that didn’t do much to staunch the negative energy that seemed to be pouring out of the very air around you. You had an iron dagger by your side, ready to grab it at a moment’s notice if need be.
The tome’s pages creaked gently as you opened it and flipped to the page for cleansing spirits. The incantation was a long and powerful one, designed to rid an area of even the strongest spirit. Normally it’d be performed by a coven, but you were a Hedge Witch. You worked alone. In the space In Between.
Knowing you’d be at it for the better part of an hour, you grimaced and wiggled a bit, trying in vain to get just a little bit more comfortable. Realizing it was a fool’s errand, you began reading.
An hour. You read for an entire hour. Did the whole thing twice and still the foul energy permeated the area.
“That was interesting.”
You nearly jumped a foot in the air as you spun around, trying to see the person who’d just spoken.
No one was there.
You turned as you stood slowly, pivoting to look in every direction. Something had definitely spoken, but spirits were never that clear; you sensed their feelings and intent rather than hearing their words.
Suddenly, a fresh wave of the energy rolled over you and you fought the urge to gag.
You knew that smell.
You’d smelled it earlier today.
“Son of Ipswich,” you hissed, drawing your dagger.
“So you know what I am,” the voice said. It was loud, as though the speaker was right behind you, but when you turned there was nothing there. Again.
“Show yourself, coward,” you spat. “I have no time for your games. Which one are you? Caleb? Pogue? Tyler? Reid?” you asked, turning slowly on the spot. Your other hand slowly reached into your pocket, reaching for your warding crystal. If you could just see the bastard, then-
“Ha!” the voice laughed, though it sounded hateful rather than amused. “I’m not one of those losers.”
You spun, though you knew what you’d see: nothing. “Bullshit!” you swore, glaring at the air around you. “I know a Son of Ipswich when I smell one. I’d know that rotting stench anywhere. Now show yourself before I blow the whole area to hell.”
“Can’t do that, hot stuff. Whatever you did seriously messed with the In Between, but I can’t even make myself corporeal on the physical plane. Hell, I haven’t been able to see the physical plane in... what year is it?” the voice asked, suddenly sounding almost innocently curious. For the life of you, you couldn’t pinpoint where the voice was coming from.
Your best option was to keep him talking until you discovered his hiding spot. You weren’t buying his crap for a second. “2018,” you told him.
But he didn’t respond. You knew he was still there- his foul stench was still stinking the place up- but he’d stopped talking.
Finally, “Six years,” the voice breathed, sounding distraught.
You froze, mind slamming into overdrive. Six years. Son of Ipswich.
“Chase? Chase Collins?” you whispered, hoping to hell you were being punked or something.
“How do you know that name?” he asked, sounding wary now.
You stood there, dumbstruck. “Everyone in the magical community knows the story. Chase Goodwin Pope, the missing son of Ipswich. Addicted to his powers, he tried to forcibly take the powers of the other Sons of Ipswich. Killed his adoptive parents and an innocent schoolmate to hide his secret,” you said, facts rolling off your tongue without you having to think about them. This was bad. This was very, very bad. You’d weakened the In Between in the area by performing your cleansing, letting Chase, who’d been banished from the world by Caleb, once again see the physical realm.
Chase growled his anger. “Now you’re the one spouting bullshit. You don’t know anything about me,” he spat. The energy around you came to a crescendo and you fought back the urge to heave the contents of your stomach up on the spot.
He was stronger than any spirit would be and he’d be trapped In Between for eternity if you didn’t do something. People would get hurt. He’d drive people insane and his ability to traverse the In Between would only grow the longer you left him.
“Fine. Then tell me about it. Face to face,” you said, steeling yourself as you took a deep breath through your mouth.
He barked out a short, bitter laugh. “Are you mocking me now, little witch? You think I’d still be trapped in this hell if I had the power to free myself?”
You glared at the space in front of you. “I can get you out.”
He sounded surprised and dubious when he spoke next. “And why would you do that?”
You frowned. “’Cause you’re too dangerous to normal humans in there,” you said. Then, your lips tilted up into a challenging smirk. “Plus, I can’t kill you proper unless you’re in the physical realm.”
Chase’s laugh was loud and amused. “You think you can kill me, Hedge Witch?” he asked. It was clear from his tone what he thought the chances of that were.
You crossed your arms and shrugged. “Well, if you’re so sure that I can’t kill you then what’ve you got to lose? You get to walk free in the physical realm and kill an insolent Hedge Witch as a bonus.”
Chase took a moment to respond, but he sounded just as cocky and self-assured as ever. “Do the spell, Hedge Witch.”
You smirked. “I knew you’d come around. You need to perform the same spell from your side too. I take it you can see my spellbook?” you asked, nodding down the book in question.
“Yeah, it was the first thing I saw when the world started forming around me... besides your ugly mug, of course.”
You rolled your eyes. “Whatever. Sit across the book from me. I have it memorized so I’ll let you read off of it,” you ordered as you sat back down on your well worn spot. You felt the energy shift around you as he moved in the In Between.
When he spoke again, he sounded like he was only a foot or so in front of you. “Let’s get this over with, then. I haven’t casted in six years and I miss the feeling,” he said.
You glowered at the space in front of you, but nodded. “Yeah, the sooner this is over the better.”
“It didn’t work,” Chase bitched, still as invisible as ever.
You smirked, fighting back a laugh. “Yeah, it did.” You winced as you felt a strong wave of energy flow through you.
“Well your head’s still attached to your shoulders so I’m gonna have to say no, no it didn’t,” he argued.
“That’s because that wasn’t the spell to get you into the physical realm,” you said, barely holding back a shit-eating grin.
There was a pause, then he spoke, deadly calm, “What the fuck did you do?”
“Where are you, exactly? In relation to me?” you asked, reaching into your pocket to pull out a thin cyan crystal.
“About two feet in front of you and a little to your left,” Chase said bitterly. “Now are you going to tell me what that shit was for, or-”
His words died in his throat as you crushed the crystal in your hand. Cyan smoke enveloped the area around you and you quickly stepped back, waving the smoke away as Chase Collins slowly materialized.
He was looking down at his hands as though he could barely believe it. He lifted a shoe and then placed it back down on the ground uncertainly, grinning when it hit the ground. He even did a little hop which would have been cute if he wasn’t a damn murdering psychopath.
He looked up at you and you forgot to breathe for a moment as those clear blue-grey eyes zeroed in on you. No wonder Caleb and the other Sons had been so quick to trust him. With a face like that, who wouldn’t?
“Thank you, little Hedge Witch. But I’ll be going now,” he said, grinning viciously as he stuck a hand out, likely to send a bone-crushing concussive blast your way.
You smiled blandly as exactly nothing happened.
The smile slowly slipped off his face and he looked down at his hand like he didn’t recognize it. His gaze snapped back up to you and he thrust his hand out again, but, once more, nothing happened.
He stared at you with rapidly growing horror. “What did you do?”
You smirked at him like a cat that caught the canary. “We sealed away your powers,” you said with probably more satisfaction than was necessary.
Chase looked at you, horrified. “That’s the spell we performed? You took away my powers? That shouldn’t even be possible! I should be dead!” he said, sounding both scared and angry.
You rolled your eyes and began gathering up your things. “Yeah, well, there are plenty of things you SOIs don’t know because you think you’re too good for certain magics.”
He was advancing on you menacingly, closing the distance between you in only a few long strides. “I don’t need magic to kill you, you fucking bi-”
You looked up just in time to watch him get blown backward the second he tried to touch you. He flew at least fifteen feet through the air and landed in a heap in the tall grass.
“Oh yeah, did I forget to tell you you can’t touch me without my permission?” you asked with a smirk.
“Fuck you!” Chase yelled back, sounding more than a little winded.
You tucked your tome under your arm and grabbed the last little bits of crystals and other paraphernalia that had come out of your bags and pockets during the excitement.
“Come on, then,” you called to him, turning your back on him to walk back towards your Jeep.
“I’m not going anywhere with you, you crazy fucking Hedge Witch!” he yelled. From the sound of it he was on his feet again and walking towards you.
“Then you can stay here and wait for the other Sons to find you, powerless and alone,” you countered, not bothering to turn around when you felt your wards catch an object he’d flung at the back of your head. You heard something heavy and metallic fall to the ground a second later, followed by a muttered curse.
“Your choice, Goodwin-Pope-Collins, but choose fast. I got places to be and I’m not coming back,” you said, as you placed your tools carefully into the back seat of your car.
You weren’t too surprised when you heard the passenger-side door opening as you slid into the driver’s seat.
You glanced over at Chase who, if looks could kill, would have murdered you ten times over. “Good choice,” you said with a smile as you turned the Jeep on and did a U-turn in the grass and headed back towards town.
One glamour crystal and a thousand dollars later you were on the highway, Ipswich a distant speck in your rear view mirror.
“So you’re a con artist,” Chase said from his spot in the passenger seat, staring at you with as much judgement as he could muster.
You smirked. “Sometimes, yeah. Sometimes I do real work... but when there isn’t I like to think of it as being paid to give people peace of mind,” you explained.
“A thousand bucks is a lot of money for peace of mind,” Chase said, obviously annoyed. “Where are you taking me?” he asked suddenly, turning those sharp steel blue eyes on you.
You shrugged lazily as you sped down the nearly-empty highway. “Dunno yet. Not so sure I should let you outta my sight. Something tells me you’re dangerous even without your powers.”
He didn’t respond to that, instead changing tactics. “What did you do with my powers?”
“Sealed ‘em,” you said as you turned up the stereo, attempting to tune him out.
He growled in frustration and turned the volume down to almost nothing. “What does that even mean?” he asked angrily.
You glared at him, but returned your eyes back to the road after a second. “Exactly what it sounds like. I sealed your powers away so you can’t use ‘em. They’re still part of you which is why you’re not six feet under right now, but you can’t access ‘em,” you explained.
“How did you get me out of the astral realm?” he asked, obviously trying to catch you unawares.
“I’m a Hedge Witch, idiot. The In Between is a place I know intimately even if I don’t frequent it myself. Getting you out was easier than banishing a restless spirit,” you snarked.
He stared at you flatly for a second or two. “I hate you,” he deadpanned.
You nearly laughed at that and a mirthless smile worked its way onto your face. “Feeling’s mutual, pal.”
By the time you pulled into the driveway of your home, Chase had grown tired of grilling you for information. You were sure he wasn’t done, but he at least had the decency to pause long enough to eat and sleep.
“Wake up, fucker,” you said, throwing a used napkin at his face.
He jolted awake instantly and grabbed sleepily at the napkin, finally looking up and glaring at you when it made an audible squishing noise in his hand. “Where are we?” he asked tersely as he peered up through the windshield at your little one-floor country house with unmistakable disdain. There wasn’t another house around for over a mile.
“My home,” you said with a smirk as you opened the door to your car and hopped down onto the pavement. You heard the passenger door open and close and a second later Chase was as close as he could be to you without being blasted away by your wards while you gathered your items up from the back seat.
“And why the hell did you bring me here?” he spat.
You carefully juggled your things in your hands and used your hip to shut the door, giving him a dirty look when he didn’t move to help you at all. “Because you’re dangerous and I can’t in good conscience let you out into the world, you said as you trundled over to your front door, thankful you’d had the foresight to have your keys in your hands before you got to the door.
“And what’s to stop me from just leaving?” he asked, barely two feet away.
“Nothing, really, but you won’t,” you said as you unlocked the door and practically fell through the doorway in an attempt to keep everything from tumbling to the ground.
You could feel him glaring holes through the back of your skull as you placed your things down in the entryway (putting them away was a problem for a later date- you were dead on your feet). “Because you’re the only way I can get my powers back,” he guessed shrewdly.
You turned to look at him, hand on your cocked hip. “Ooh, I guess there’s something in that noggin after all,” you said, giving him a pat on the head before he could flinch away. His hair was silky soft, which you hadn’t been expecting. When he wasn’t blasted back into the front door he looked at you incredulously for a moment before a wicked grin crept onto his face, but you dashed his hopes before he tried something stupid. “Nah ah, don’t even think about it. The wards are still in place. I can touch you if I want, but you can’t touch me unless I let you.”
He groaned and ran a hand over his face. “So I’m stuck with you until I can figure out how to get my powers back. Fan-fucking-tastic.”
You rolled your eyes and walked to the kitchen. “You’re not getting your powers back,” you said, rifling through the pantry for something remotely edible. You really should clean it out more often, but that was so much work and the fungus was sometimes useful for potions.
“Says you,” Chase said defiantly as he trailed after you like the world’s angriest, murderiest puppy.
You whirled on him, his attitude finally getting the better of your patience. “Look you stupid, arrogant, high-chasing witch boy,” you spat, poking him so hard in the chest that he almost lost his balance. “Your powers eat away at your life force. They’re addictive and sanity-inducing. They corrupt anything and everything around them but you dense motherfuckers never seem to realize that! You use and use and use until you’re wrinkled and decrepit at forty! Even Sons who grow up knowing about their powers don’t always have the ability to stop themselves from using! You didn’t have that. You grew up using more than any of the other four Sons combined, not knowing what it’d mean the moment you hit eighteen. You deluded yourself into thinking you could extend your life if you took the other Sons’ powers- their very lives-, but that’s not how it works! Don’t you see, you absolute fucking dimwit? I did you a fucking favor by sealing your powers. You’ll be able to see your twentieth damn birthday! You can have a life!” you yelled, having gotten louder and louder the longer you spoke without realizing it.
Chase looked murderous as he loomed over you. “And I didn’t ask for that! I didn’t want this you pretentious bitch! I need my magic! It’s a part of me and it’s not your right to take that away from me!” he screamed, face beginning to turn red from anger.
You took a deep, calming breath and stared him dead in the eyes. “If you’re trying to convince me that you’re in control of your decisions, you’re doing a poor job.”
Chase lunged for you with a barely human snarl, nearly causing you to flinch, but he was readily repelled backwards by your wards. He landed in the kitchen in a heap, scattering pots, pans, and spices everywhere.
He let out a string of curses that would have made the devil himself blush and stood as though he’d merely been sitting down on the floor and not been blown fifteen feet into a solid countertop.
You watched calmly as he reached for anything and everything. Dishes and glassware were dashed upon the tiled floor. Silverware was thrown through your windows. Food was flung across all the surfaces. He didn’t try throwing anything at you, instead focusing on destroying anything he could see. Cupboards were ripped from their hinges and used to dent the sides of the refrigerator and oven. The glass top of the stove survived the assault of the cupboard drawer only to be shattered into a spiderweb pattern by the electric mixer.
He didn’t stop, even when not a single thing in your kitchen remained whole. Instead he moved to the living room and you watched quietly as he began destroying everything there, too.
By the time he was done, the stuffing from your couch and pillows made the room look almost festive, as though it had snowed indoors. All of your cluttered knick-knacks were in pieces on the floor and each and every window was shattered, ensuring the living room was now drafty.
When he began walking down the hall, though, you narrowed your eyes, patience once again wearing thin. He was sick, but even your kindness had its limits.
He reached out for the door handle on the right and you moved quick as lightning, tossing a deep blue crystal at him, which shattered on impact with his arm and enveloped him in a thick, stifling fog.
You watched as he slumped slowly then eventually passed out on his feet and fell to the floor with an almighty thud.
You sighed as you walked over to him and nudged him with your foot. Out like a light.
When asleep, he looked almost cute. Innocent, peaceful. Not like a man capable of destroying half of your possessions in a fit of rage.
You grumbled your annoyance as you hefted him onto and over your shoulder.
The walk to the spare room was a little less than graceful (Chase wasn’t exactly small and you could tell just from this simple contact that he was very, very fit). You ended up dropping him accidentally when you tried to open the door and only just barely managed to stop him from landing on his neck with a last minute hover spell.
You opened the door and carefully pushed him into the room, doing your best to avoid running him into errant table or chair legs. One slight struggle of lifting him into the bed later and your mission was accomplished. You huffed in satisfaction and exhaustion in equal measure as you ran a hand through your hair. You glanced down at him and your breath caught in your throat. The warm evening sun streamed in through the windows, alighting the particles that danced in the air around you before finally landing on Chase’s sleeping form. You found yourself perching on the edge of the bed without thinking about it, hand outstretched towards him. His hair, which normally stood up thanks to some sort of hair product, had fallen onto his forehead and you brushed it aside with the lightest of touches.
He was gorgeous. Intelligent. Driven.
And so, so tragic.
With a sigh you tore your eyes from his sleeping form and left the room, leaving the door unlocked so he wouldn’t tear a hole through the wall to the outside world or something when he woke up.
You went to your room- the first door on the right- and collapsed onto your bed with a pathetic groan. What had you been thinking? Taking a Son of Ipswich with you, and the most insane one at that? Surely you’d sustained brain damage in your years on this green earth.
No, helping things is what you did, whether it be an under-watered plant, a bird with a broken wing, or a half-insane magic-addicted warlock.
You set the alarm on your phone to go off relatively early in the morning, though you had a feeling you’d be woken up by your house guest long before then, and buried your face into your pillow, not even bothering to remove your clothes.
“It’s gonna be a long, long few months...” you grunted to no one in particular. Your bedroom kept its impartial silence and you sighed once more before sleep took you.

Distressed Wave Tests Traders Mettle in $10 Trillion Swap Market
(Bloomberg) -- The rising tide of distressed companies in Europe is boosting the appeal of a much-criticized corner of the $10 trillion market for credit insurance.
Credit-default swaps -- derivatives that pay out when a company defaults on debt -- have brought at least $1 billion in windfalls to their holders in Europe this year, more than double the 2018 total, according to a Bloomberg analysis of settlement auctions. Credit Suisse Group AG and hedge funds Diameter Capital Partners and Sona Asset Management are among investors that made money by using CDS to bet against stressed firms this year.

CDS insure bondholdings against default and can be used by hedge funds to bet on borrowers going bust. The pickup in payouts is the result of more companies struggling amid slowing growth in Europe and shifting consumer habits.
“When a company is in distress, CDS is one of the best ways to trade the risk,” said Duncan Sankey, head of credit research at Cheyne Capital in London.
The collapse of travel group Thomas Cook, a debt restructuring at U.K. fashion retailer New Look and court protection for the owner of French supermarket chain Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA all triggered CDS payouts this year, making money for the traders that held them.
Credit Suisse emerged as one of the winners from this year’s CDS market. The bank’s high-yield credit team posted its best ever half-year revenue, with winning bets against Thomas Cook before it collapsed in September and profiting from credit insurance on French equipment rental firm Loxam, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Credit Suisse also used the CDS market to successfully bet on a company rebound. It sold swaps on debt collector Lowell, putting the bank on the hook to pay out in case of default, but the company’s performance improved and the CDS tumbled, according to the people.
Jonathan Moore, head of credit for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at the bank acknowledged the team’s winning strategies but declined to comment on individual trades.
U.S. hedge fund Diameter Capital Partners profited from swaps on Rallye SA, the parent of French retailer Casino. Diameter’s co-founder Scott Goodwin recommended buying three-year CDS tied to Rallye last year and the contracts were triggered for total compensation of $522 million in June.
Thomas Cook was also a winning trade for London-based hedge fund Sona Asset Management which also bet against New Look and posted more than 9% returns net of fees this year, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information isn’t public.
Representatives for Diameter and Sona declined to comment on the firms’ trades.
Losing Trades
While some investors used distressed CDS for successful bets, others lost money, highlighting they are a risky bet that few outside the hedge fund community are prepared to touch.
The contracts were widely criticized for their role in the 2008 financial crisis and more recently they’ve been at the center of a crackdown on manufactured credit events where investors entice companies to miss bond payments they could otherwise make. Even the Pope has linked the swaps to “extremely immoral actions.”
Even JPMorgan Chase & Co, the firm that invented them in the 1990s, tripped up on swaps positions this year. It was on the wrong side of trades on Rallye and telecom company Altice Europe NV, according to people familiar with the matter.
Citigroup Inc.’s high-yield desk faced losses earlier this year as the seller of credit insurance on Thomas Cook. The bank also took a hit after it bought credit protection on Altice before the swaps declined, according to people familiar with the trade.
Another investor to lose money on Rallye CDS was former GSO trader Akshay Shah, known for creating manufactured credit events in 2013. Shah’s fund Kyma Capital sold credit swaps on Rallye, according to people familiar with the matter.
Representatives for JPMorgan, Citi and Kyma all declined to comment on their trades.
Busy Outlook
Investors are now preparing for what could be an even busier year for CDS traders. Slowing European growth is likely to mean more companies downgraded to junk and increases in default rates.

"Chase Collins.. or in other words- Pope. I've heard about your family before.. must say your ambitions are quite huge for your age." - Freya
The teenager narrowed his eyes as he heard these words from someone he had never even met before. With a small sniff he lift up a piece of birthday cake to his mouth and took a bite. Chewing, he stares for a long moment before soon swallowing the bite down and pointing toward the woman " Excuse me, it's Goodwin-Pope, the hyphen connects them as one. --And what the hell do you know about me and my family? Who are you?" Chase had asked. Mostly curious because He hadn't been known to use Goodwin-Pope in connection to his name. Of course they were in his personal files. But only certain kinds of people could even get near those. Caleb and Pogue being the rare few that weren't typically able to but somehow had managed to " Are you spying on me?"

Chase’s Savor Part. 2
Pairing: Chase Collins x Original Female Character
Word Count: 1575
Warning: None so far (Smut in the next part)
A/N: Sorry for the long wait
Part 2:
Once I got off the phone with Chase, I heard a knock at my door. I got up from my desk to answer it. When I answered my door, I seen Sarah standing there with a big teddy bear. "What's all this?" "Caleb and the boys as well as Kate and I thought that you would like someone to talk to during your time of need." said Sarah "Thanks. I'm just trying my best with what's going on despite that no one wanted to listen to me about Chase needing help on understanding his powers." "Rose, I understand that, and even Caleb noticed it just now. He told the boys about the letter and at first, they didn't believe him until I told them that I see the look in your eyes and knew that you were hurt by Chase being gone.” Said Sarah
“I am hurt by it because I was the only one that cared about him enough to help him.”
“Rose, do you know what will happen to his stuff?” Said Sarah
“I do not but with him having no family that’s alive they’ll just throw it in the trash.”
“Let me talk to the Provost to see if you can have his things since you two were dating.” Said Sarah
“Thanks, and could you tell the boys that I just want to be alone for a while until I heal from all this.”
“Sure, if they want to give you something, I’ll have Kate and I bring them to you.” Said Sarah
“Thanks, Sarah. Oh, could it be alright if you could take me into town to get some things. I tracked down my birth parents in Salem and I’ll be going there this weekend to invite them to graduation.”
“Sure, I’m glad that you’re still in contact with your birth family.” Said Sarah
“When I was adopted by Caleb’s mom it was an open adoption so Evelyn and my birth mom stayed in contact for when I gotten my powers and for when I ascend into my full amount of powers but my family’s bloodline got our powers for nature.”
“Oh. Well, I can take you into town tomorrow after school if that’s okay and maybe we can go see Kate. I told her what happened to you when I saw her by myself and she was upset that you must go through all this pain. She knew that you wanted to help him and give him the love and care he truly needed.” Said Sarah
“At least someone knew why Chase and I started dating in the first place. Damn it, Chase loved me he truly loved me and when no one wanted to listen to me, it pissed him off because I was almost being treated the same way as he was. To be honest, Chase and I are like the black sheep in our families because I can control three of the four elements while all the other witches in my family can only control one. Chase’s family was banished from the Covenant because of his ancestor.”
“Kate and I are trying our best to understand what you’re going through. If you ever need to talk, just call Kate or I.” Said Sarah
“I will.”
Once Sarah left, I laid down on my bed looking at the pictures of Chase and I before all of this happened. As I was looking at the pictures my phone started to ring showing that Chase was calling. I answered it to hear Chase’s tired voice.
“Chase, are you tired?”
“Yes, but I wanted to have a nightly talk before going to bed.” Said Chase
“Oh well I don’t mind doing that.”
“Yeah, it’s just I couldn’t stop thinking about all the evil things I have done and how much you tried to help me by loving me and caring for me.” Said Chase
“Chase, we’ll make things right with Caleb and the others, I promise.”
“Rose, if they don’t accept me back into the Covenant, then what we will do then?” Said Chase
“Well graduation is in June before my birthday and from the letters that my birth mother wrote me telling me that my family has something planned for me for when I ascend. Sadly, I already know that they want me to marry a powerful warlock that I don’t even know. So, when I meet you in Salem this weekend, I’m going to tell my birth family that I want to marry you. I know that it will cause our bloodlines to mix and have our children be very powerful but to be honest I don’t care if they like or not. I love you, Chase Goodwin-Pope and nothing is going to stop me.”
“You would really do that for me?” Said Chase
“Yes, I would. You been so alone for a long time and I want to be the one to heal that dark broken heart of yours.”
“God, I love you Rose Summers.” Said Chase
“I know you do. Hey, it’s almost Midnight and I have to get ready for school in six hours.”
“Okay, good night and sweet dreams love.” Said Chase
-Six hours later-
My alarm on my phone went off and I got up to get ready for school. I sent a text to Sarah asking her if she would like to walk to class with me since I don’t want people feeling sorry for me. Right now, I just hope that Caleb and the others don’t find out that Chase is still alive because I still must help him control his powers. After I got into my school uniform, Sarah knocked on my door before she came in with a cup of my favorite hot chocolate that the school’s café made.
“Thank you, Sarah for the hot chocolate.”
“I just wanted to make sure that you stay positive despite what happened.” Said Sarah
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Rose.” Said Sarah
Just as we walked out of my dorm, I seen Kira walking up to me. I started to panic because I remembered what Chase did to Aaron in the boys’ locker room. Sarah noticed and rubbed my back. Kira stopped in front of us with a smirk on her face.
“What do you want, Kira?”
“Oh nothing. I just heard about your boyfriend just up and left the school without a single word to anyone. What happened, did he not love you enough?” Said Kira
I wasn’t even thinking when I punched Kira in the face giving her a bloody nose. Sarah had to hold me back when Reid and Tyler shown up. I was fighting them like crazy that Caleb couldn’t even calm me down.
“How dare you say that about Chase, you bitch?! He loved me so much that he would have done anything to keep me happy, but he died in a car crash, stupid bitch!”
“Rose don’t come to class at all today. Give me all your homework and I’ll turn it in for you. I’ll even let the Provost know that you’re having a hard time dealing with Chase’s death and needs today and the weekend off until you’re calm enough to return to school.” Said Caleb
“Thanks, Caleb.” I said handing him all my homework that I finished
I went back into my dorm and texted Sarah that I will just go into town myself with my car. Sarah reply saying that it would be good for me if I did that. I put my phone on my nightstand and change into more comfortable clothes. I sat down on my bed and called up Chase so I could talk to him. Chase answered his phone to hear me on the verge of tears.
“Rose, baby? What happened? What’s wrong?” Said Chase
“Kira pissed me off by saying that you didn’t love me anymore and that’s why you left without a word to anyone.”
“What did you do when she said that?” Said Chase
“I punched her in the face giving her a bloody nose and said that you died in a car crash. Caleb is going to have the Provost give me today and the weekend off from school until I’m well enough to return to my classes.”
“That’s my girl with Kira and I also take it you will be getting ready to come here to help me as well as seeing your birth family again.” Said Chase
“Yes, I’ll be there this weekend. I still need to go into town when classes are done for the day to get some things and I’ll start packing my weekend bag. I’ll be there Saturday afternoon.”
“Okay love. I’m sorry that you had to deal with that. You deserve better than that.” Said Chase
“I know but I need you to do something for me.”
“What will that be?” Said Chase
“Um, well I was thinking about having you get a small box of condoms.”
“I know exactly what you have planned for when you get here.” Said Chase
“Yeah. It’s just I want to feel your touch again and I’m on the pill, but I want to be extra safe.”
“I understand. I’m going to get some food for us to eat for when you get here.” Said Chase
“Okay Chase. Be careful so don’t let anyone that we know see you until we’re ready.”
“I will. I love you.” Said Chase
“I love you too.”
